Love this African American library! There is a wealth of information here. It is more like a museum upstairs. You can spend hours reading, interacting, and learning about the history of AA in Colorado.

Two of three floors virtually wasted since the research & genealogy room is always empty as is the heritage museum. The first floor has inadequate table space, electrical outlets, and a paucity of books and DVDs. It also smells bad and is run with the security of a jail.

Over the past 6 years my genealogy group has used this library for our meetings and have had very positive experiences. The staff treats us well and there have been no negative issues. The focus of the Library has been on the African Americans of Colorado/West and has been informative and educational. Keep up the good work!

This library is near Crack Alley and it is definitely full of crack-heads, junkies and drunks. I witnessed a strung up junkie attack an elderly gentleman with a chair and the next day, there was another messed-up junkie asking everyone in the library if they had his gloves. I do not feel safe at this library. If you have children, stay away as there are way too many junkies and drunks that hang out at this library. What a shame, the African American Library showcases African American junkies.

The staff at this library are terrific. Knowledge, professional and compassionate. My observation is that all patrons are treated with equal dignity and respect.
