This Library belongs to the category of University library.
I give you chumps mad loot and single ply toilet paper is the best you can afford?????
Best library. Great amount of seating for studying, chatting or whatever. Also excellent staff along with immense collection of books, periodicals and digital content.
They have a slave ship out front. Also, there's no free printing. Not enough computers. Soulless employees.
The staff are lazy and terrible at their jobs.
Worst place for 3 colleges to come together and study. -Terrible hours -Terrible wi-fi -Nowhere to sit -Got my laptop stolen there -No cameras anywhere -Security is terrible -Homeless people EVERYWHERE
When so many classes start at 8:00, it’s really dumb that the library doesn’t open until 7:30. I have been sitting outside the library since 7 with about 10 other people waiting for it to open.
WIFI never works there
"treat people right they will treat you right… ninety percent of the time." -- Franklin D. Roosevelt An inspirational quote for me. Im optimistic about the way this library is turning out it will look great when its done. Im not sure whats going on with the management though, the security guard, I was told his name is "bud" is a racist haven't they noticed this im sure im not the only one he talks rudely to. He came up-to me accusing me of being an idiot and having AIDS, not every african is an idiot or has AIDS besides aren't they trained to respect all people. I really don't have the time to go to management it would just take too long to be resolved I've been snubbed and hung up on by too many people on this campus and elsewhere. I recently had a court case about this kind of thing and its a long process. This library would be a lot better if it employed people that treat all patrons with respect. I don't know really am I being realistic to expect respect from security personel is that possible in the 21st century. I really wish management could be more receptive to complaints. when i was taking online courses I made a complaint about an online course and the feedback was a bit dodgy, some grades were missing on my score card, I got no response on the telephone. I had to mail the president on twitter and then they finally responded to my mail.
Great place to study but the security guards seem to think that they are the police force. Walking around a freaking library 24/7 patrolling the crime ridden computer lab oh and Don't get too comfortable in your seat either because that's not library policy. What a bunch of jackasses
-Great coffee. -Mediocre wifi, when it's crowded it doesn't work when they're few ppl it's fine. -Plenty of seating. -Love the group study rooms.
Have worked with librarians at the Auraria Library since late 70's, as a student and a professor. Can't say enough about how helpful they are, whether in person or online chat format. Whoever found the librarians to be "rude and arrogant," I'm sorry you had that experience. Am just saying that has never been my experience with them.
It's a library, don't leave your stuff unattended.
Lol at the complaints. Bathrooms smell bad? No kidding! Pretty sure your ish stinks, too. Homeless people? It's a public facility; go pay out of pocket to use a private library. Security came up to you out of the blue and called you an AIDS-infected idiot? Doubt it very much. Don't want your overpriced Apple laptop stolen? Don't leave it sitting out alone. Jesus Christ, people. This is an above-average library with lots of resources and a decent staff. Fast internet with tons of bandwidth. Plenty of room, even during finals. Lots of really good new tech and study resources. Renovations are making some needed improvements, and they go beyond just red frames on the doors, David. Ignore the dummies giving low-ratings for silly reasons. It's not one of the world's great libraries, but it's a very good research library with lots of amenities for everyone to use.
Very good and quite environment for studying. Plus, fast internet. But they don't have security cameras and many students lose their stuff like laptops and expensive equipments
Seems like money spent on renovating would have been better spent on essentials students need, like reliable WiFi.
Great people, and very spacious. Ideal for quiet study or gathering with friends to discuss the latest "hot topic."
The renovation is all done and it looks great. Its a public library in downtown Denver so yeah there are gonna be homeless people, but there still people and they mostly keep to them selves anyway. As for the wifi, I've played many online multiplayer games there on my off days and I've never had any problems. The seating is very nice and the volume level is perfect. Overall its the best place I've found so far to study in my free time.
The renovations look really nice but the management in this library needs urgent attention. Some of the front desk staff are rude and don't know anything about how to work the machinery. The security guard bud is rude and has said racist remarks to me on two occasions. I always see him harassing black people asking them to leave the library and the management doesn't seem to care about his attitude. Yesterday they had a fire drill and I nearly lost my phone because they rushed us out of the building. Please be considerate of the patrons they have rights too.
Great Place
I always go this place to study 3 hour before my class begins and after sometimes but the construction is always going on in or out side don't matter fall, spring or summer and they took my attention and I can't concentrate because of the noise, it suppose be liberary but noise looks garage i wish if they work during after hour or summer time only
The mens bathroom has always been a putrid nose and eye sore.
Great place to study on campus. If you want to reserve a study room for finals, make sure to do it way in advance!
I stopped going to the school library because I don't feel safe going there with all the homeless people hanging out all day and taking all the space. I don't feel comfortable leaving my belongings just to go use the restroom or get books for resource because I know they're going to steal students, faculty, or staff members belongings.
Great place to study! And has a great variety of seating! Auraria police officers are on patrol for your safety! Restrooms are remodeled and look up to date. Coffee shop is on the west end of the library and makes it a great place to get a drink and meet up with friends.
Pros: - resources are very good (computers, amount of books, magazines, journals, etc.) - staff is very helpful - cafe in house - location on campus (central to all of Auraria campus) Cons: - poor wifi signal (2nd floor specifically) - poor security - 1st floor restroom is pretty gross (clogged sinks, food left in stalls, hair in and around sinks) - noise level (currently due to construction) - the hours (personal opinion, but a library accomadating three different institutions should have longer hours of operation specifically on the weekends) *With regards to the homeless situation, this is a public urban campus so I decided it not to place that as a con since I expected there to be a large population of homeless here. The vast majority just want a place to read and I have never felt it has been an issue with he exception of the small percent who practice personal hygiene and don't clean up after themselves.
This place could be a wonderful library but with all the homeless people hanging around, Its hard to concentrate. As we speak their is some vagrant snoring loud enough to disturb the students. Also including the security risk of leaving your computers and books unprotected wile you find resources is uncomforting. I sometime come in early to study for test and when I use the bathroom in the morning its packed with homeless shaving and washing their arm pits. The staff and resources are wonderful but we have got to get rid of the Homeless!!!
got mad at me for being too comfortable
Clean, tables toward the back with outlets to charge my phone
Great place to be. The staff is very helpful to get me what I needed, also learned things along every visit. The librarians are you friends! Trust!
Worst place if u are black, we are not belonging to the library.
Without debate the finest library in the area. Clean, well run by students and staff alike...if only it were legal to ban the bums... Yes, we see you, thouest upstairs squatters... Downtown CU, Metro State and CCoD students should enjoy a beautiful and resourceful library. The Discovery Wall is a mini-IMAX experience that sets a tone in the lobby for fruitful studying...if you want to market a message, this is an ingenious way to do it...
Large collection. Great staff. Prospector ILL service is great and so is their ILL service in general. Great database access. Good PC access. Availability to check out PCs and tablets is great. Media viewing devices also available. WiFi is intermittent. About 1/15 people appear to be homeless but honestly they have as much of a right to use a PUBLIC library as every other public person.
Recently renovated. Still bums around but get over it. They're reading ffs. WIFI does suck though.
Best place for a quite and amazing time tvs in personal rooms and even your own lounges
Unfortunately our school library is not a great place to study. How is it that the wifi signal in this building is so bad? Why wasn't this issue addressed during the lengthy remodel? Also, it can be very difficult to find a place to study there, especially during midterms and finals. Sometimes there's one student at a large desk that could have been used by four students, while numerous other students are searching hopelessly for a place to study. Other times, the upstairs, which is supposed to be quiet study, is so loud that I end up having to leave in hopes of finding a quiet place. There is a "deep-quiet study area", but people don't seem to respect the rules there either. The sign outside of the deep-quiet study area specifically says that there is no eating allowed in there. Of course the last time I was there, a young gentleman decided to come and eat his rather pungent meal, very disruptively, while listening to his loud headphones. (Couldn't he eat anywhere else?!) There are only a handful of very small desks there and insufficient outlets. If you need to charge your computer and use it at the same time, there are no means of doing so. While I have addressed these issues with library staff on several occasions, I have yet to see an improvement. Students upstairs continue to carry out loud and length conversations, when the entire downstairs is designated for group-study. On several occasions, when I have finally found a good place to study, I have had to intervene and ask students to keep quiet. This should not be an issue. I really hope that this library will improve and be a better place for students to study.
They are about to finish remodeling the library and it's turning out pretty good.
It's a great place to study with helpful staff.
You could get a faster internet connection over dialup than the wifi here.
It's been becoming overwhelmed with indigents. But, they have a little coffee shop in there. And the staff is outstanding.
Librarians are incredibly rude and arrogant. I would highly recommend the DPL instead.
Every time I drive by here, I see one homeless guy emphatically speaking to another homeless guy. This inevitably gets me thinking that he is giving the other homeless guy advice. I find that very amusing.
its a very large library with lots of seating and is generally quiet and good for studying. i spend at least 10 hours here a week. the renovation is quite nice. the complaints i have is that, the books are very outdated. not really great for research...the help desk is not too helpfull, they usually just tell you to go somewhere else...the cafe is eh?? ive never really had anything great there honestly. still will come here because its on my campus, but there are still some improvements to be made in my opinion.
I needed a quick question answered from a librarian. They have an amazing chat feature on the main page of the website. It was the first time I used it, and I will definitely be using it again. I got an instant response from someone who was nice, courteous and knowledgeable. I highly recommend using this feature if you need a quick question answered and aren't right in front of the library steps.
