I needed a place to study so I figured I goto a library, what a mistake. I couldn't tell if it was a library or a social place. People are walking around talking on the phone, employee on the phone with foot upon the table, kids talking loudly. Library looked really nice from outside and inside but doesn't have many books. Doesn't seem to know how to prioritize, spending all the money on the building and not on the books. What a joke, I was very disappointed by the experience.

Hands down the best library I've ever been to. Fully staffed and well laid out. Parking is a little tight but access from highway is easy.

Very comfortable library for all the ages people. It has everything you want to study from morning to evening without getting tired. I have been to few states library but this is awesome. I LOVE Hoover Library - wonderful layout of space in real visits, but what I've been so much enjoying lately is downloading free eBooks, audiobooks and their online renewals. Great library!

Truly a magnificent library, all Hoover residents should be proud. I've been to many libraries before, but none compare to the kindness of the staff, the resources they have, and the events that take place here. Often time my friends complain that other libraries have rude staff, or primary technology, such as a computer with Windows XP. Not Hoover, they are the undisputed go to when a library trip is needed.

Awesome! Great musical events at the Plaza and in the Theater, lots of educational classes and events throughout the library. Cheap 2nd hand book store, easy digital content access,and the nicest staff and volunteers.

We live in Pinson and drive to Hoover Library once a week to rent movies and books. Very friendly staff and a nice place for the kids.

I especially love the DVD rentals and recently discovered the online classes that are being offered. I signed up for a refresher in Microsoft Excel and a couple other self help classes. The cafe is comfortable and very home away from home-ish. Love the location and always dealt with great staff and customer service.

I have always been going to the Vestavia Hills Library since I live closer to that one. Yet, I went to the Hoover Library for the first time in a long time, and I absolutely love it. The quiet study area is the perfect place for me to get things done. Also, they have a cafe in there. the can grab some food or drinks during a long study day without needing to leave the library. Everything about this library is great.

AMAZING children's programs during the school year and in the summer. This library is one of the the things I dearly miss after moving away from the Birmingham area. We went there weekly for about 6 years. Their enclosed small children's area is super helpful for peace of mind and I have yet to find that anywhere else. My kids also loved the outdoor play area. Every library should have their children's department come train here!

Just try to rent a room at the Hoover library and got declined because my event was not open to the public The climate we live in today ,that is not safe to just let anybody walk in and you don’t know who they are. I stated to them that I had a similar problem at the Homewood Library with a disruptive stranger who walked into my event. they need to change this policy .

They have an amazing number of different resources. The public library system in the Birmingham metro area is wonderful and demonstrates what public service could look like if the various municipalities work together. There are a lot of books, DVD's, graphic novels, AND they also have board games. There are several nooks that are good to read or do work in.

I have since moved from Hoover, over more than a year ago. This library is what I miss most. I still go occasionally, even though I live a bit farther away. Nothing compares to this library. The employees are wonderful. They are helpful. They are never rude to children. They are well educated and a lot of them are artists or performers, who help design whimsical displays around the library or put on shows for the kids. This library is a living library. It is vibrant and joyous with learning. There are quiet locations to study in the back, but towards the front, it is an interactive learning area for children, teens and adults. They have free programs for kids constantly. Every book I have ever asked for has been there. Apart from normal books, they have manga, comics, board games, and a pretty awesome sci fi/fantasy section by itself. This library is the greatest resource that the city of Hoover has to offer. I love all the people there. I feel good and at home at the Hoover Public Library. I want to say thank you to all the people who work so hard to make this library extraordinary. With that, I conclude my love letter to HPL.

We live in Shelby County and travel to the Hoover Library at least once a week. Since we don't live in JeffCo, we do have to pay an annual fee to check out items/use the computers but it is worth it! We've lived in Shelby County for 8 years and have never been to the local library- we choose Hoover!!
