I'll start with the positive. I have always had good cleaning done here and friendly staff. Also the manager is wonderful. My negative experience happened with the owner. Unfortunately I had to deal with her over a formal dress I brought in that was ruined during dry cleaning.
Lessons I learned:
1. Don't cut out the tags from your garment, and if you do, don't forget to keep it and bring it in to the dry cleaner with you. In one of the owner's verbal attacks against me, she said " You screwed yourself by cutting out the tag!"
2. Don't assume that without the tag that they will know how to clean the item. I assumed they would. I was told after the fact that I should have asked for the manager when I dropped off the dress. She said she would have known the right cleaning method and knew the material type by looking at the dress. Unfortunately someone took it upon themselves to clean it without knowing what they were doing.
3. Watch out! If you don't spend an arm and a leg on a prom dress, the owner considers it cheap, and doesn't care. Owner never once took ownership that they had ruined the dress, instead she accused me of trying to take advantage of her, and blamed the whole thing on the dress being "cheap" ($100 prom dress on sale at Macy's because I had a coupon). She then argued with me about why the dress was on sale, saying that is was on sale because there was something wrong with it! She then proceeded to show me a "$6,000" bedazzled show jacket and said "this is quality".
The manager was great and had a complete solution to the problem. She said the best course was for me to replace the dress if possible, as my daughter needed it for an upcoming event. She said she would check with the owner the next day and she would write a check to me. I did end up getting money to replace it, but only after having to stand my ground and being verbally attacked by the owner. She was horrible. I have never in my life been treated like this by a business owner! The manager was the only apologetic one, and it was obvious she felt bad about this whole thing. I'm disappointed that I will now have to go out of town for dry cleaning, as this place is the monopoly in town.
