Winthrop is a great school for traditional students, but not for non-traditional students. If you are older and have a life outside of college, I would not recommend attending Winthrop. They are not considerate with outside responsibilities, and will implement consequences for not being present at events during work times. I know this because I'm in my last semester at the University, and I am 31 years old.

I’m a second semester sophomore, also a transfer student and as much as I love Winthrop there’s a few things that are just ridiculous. This school is very money hungry we sit here and register for classes but our bills come late. On top of that the due dates for the money is ridiculous I’m sorry but I need more than a week to pay the ridiculous balance. Also my classes get dropped then it’s impossible to get back into them. I’ve never been to a school that just drops classes because of money. Not to mention the dorms are overly priced. The food courts and stuff don’t stay open long enough. Winthrop also makes you take ridiculous classes such as human experience and CRTW to graduate. Don’t even get me started on financial aid they are no help and extremely lazy. The fact that they lose documents and processing them takes forever is ridiculous. They also never tell you when you can apply again. Honestly if I’m going to be there another two years Winthrop needs to do better or I can take my money elsewhere.

I like everything other than when trying to get an on campus job as a student. You have to submit a resume through EAGLElink, but before you can even use the resume someone reviews it. They can deny it out right before you even attempt submitting it to a job. That shouldn’t be a thing. Let the actual employers make the decision of yes or no, not some random other party.

Their faculty and staff don't care about their students, good luck if you're a special needs student living in campus because apparently housing has a vendetta against everyone. Some of the professors are so far out of touch with the real world that it's boggling that they ever got their degrees.

Some of these views confuse me. Anyway, I enjoyed my time at Winthrop University. I won't elaborate because it would be an essay. But I will say that it's a public university with a private school feel. The campus is quite beautiful and it's easy to forget about the surrounding community, which is safe by the way.

This is the spine of Rock Hill. There city would be an invertebrate without Winthrop! Too many good things to say not enough time to write it. So many politicians have spoken here. So many cool events are hosted here. This is a fun place to walk your dog or just walk around. This place has a rather tame party scene compared to some larger universities. If you are a protective parent I think you will not be disappointed if you send your daughter here. I cannot imagine being a father and sending my daughter to a place like Arizona State University. That is child neglect. This school caters to a studious, artsy and culturally diverse crowd.

Be wary of the financing office. They will not work with you, even when it is their fault. I attended Winthrop for 2 years while I was out of the Navy while using the GI Bill. During that time the GI Bill changed and no longer covered out of state tuition. I was not notified of this till I received my $6200 bill. After speaking to the finance office numerous times about the course of contact used, they stated that they had not updated my address even though they did have it on file they stated that all attempts had been sent to a prior address. This resulted in being sent to collections and a massive hit to my credit report. I went ahead and paid off the amount after numerous requests to try to work this out had failed. They refused to remove it from my credit. I am writing this to let others know that they do not care about the financial status of their alumni. Reflect on this while you are considering schools. Is this the type of college you want to be affiliated with?

We had an amazing time at the Gymnastic meet there. My daughter is a Level 9. She has been doing gymnastics since she was 4 and loves it. Way to go Natalie!

This is the most money hungry university I’ve ever went to. Any sort of financial aid takes forever to process, there’s no way to sign up for an advisor meeting online so you’re running around wondering who your advisor even is, they punish you for being a commuter by having you park far away from anything (or risk a $40 charge to your account after already paying $100 to park), give no warnings about when your book rentals are due UNTIL they charge your account, and if you don’t pay in time, they’ll drop your classes (and keep in mind they’ll drop your classes while they’re processing your financial aid. They’ll gladly run with your money and not let you go back in). I’ve been to USC Columbia and York Technical College and both have been way better experiences than this. The only good part about this so far is the scenery. I regret going to Winthrop and strongly advise no one coming here. I hope to transfer out after this school year is over.

Great, small classes. Only downside is the food court closes at 9 p.m., which is inconvenient on late studying nights or Fridays and Saturdays. Also, the recreation room closes at 11 p.m. which means there's nothing to do on campus at night.

Lovely campus, but not easy to find where I was going for a graduation ceremony. No one had a clue either. Parking was vague with no one to even point out a direction. The venue was beautiful after I caught my breath from the last minute dash up the hill in a mad rush. Great place to have a graduation.

Beautiful campus. When touring multiple colleges for selection, Winthrop was the only college that my daughter and I both agreed on for her attendance. Not too big, not too small, but just right for our daughter!

i came to Winthrop as an exchange student from across the world. Compared to the school in my country, Winthrop's campus seemed huge :) But its not. I worked at the post office on campus and it was nice to be able to walk everywhere I had my classes. professors are nice and are always willing to help. As international student, I needed some help with paperwork and just to know my way around first few weeks. International Center at Winthrop University unfortunately was less than helpful. Trying to get my SSN, and asking directions and advice from them i heard a phrase "why would you need and want to apply for ssn anyway?" needless to say that I was more productive using Google, than real person guidance. Other than that, its a great school and friendly people. Made some great friends, met my wife there, proposed by little chapel on Winthrop campus to her a year after we both graduated). Great school and great memories!
