I really cannot say enough to describe how much I love Children's Lighthouse in Waxhaw! I am a principal at a K-8 private school and therefore I am responsible for not only educating children, but keeping them safe, and making sure that they are always loved and cared for. For this reason, I was extremely picky when I searched for a daycare for my 7 month old son. I researched at least 30 places online and narrowed down to 10 places to visit in person. There were a few other places that I did like but something still didn't sit right with me. Most of the facilities I visited said the right things and the directors certainly played the part, but it all seemed too perfect to me. Let's be honest, we would love for the world to be perfect and for our little ones to live in a bubble and have absolutely nothing go wrong in their lives, but this is just not how the world works. I wanted someone to be real with me and admit that they weren't perfect(because no one is) but how they made corrections and what they did when something didn't go right. As soon as I walked into Children's Lighthouse in Waxhaw, I immediately noticed how great it smelled. It didn't have that typical daycare smell that I had finally accepted was just an absolute. Yes it is a somewhat newer facility but it was also very clear to me that effort was put into the cleanliness of the facility. Everyone I met seemed very genuine and I could tell the children were all very happy. I walked with the assistant director and I felt like she was already one of my friends. She was very open and honest with me and I didn't feel like her words were rehearsed. I have now been there for almost 4 months and I could not be happier. I absolutely love the director and all of the teachers. I am very attached to my son and I was so worried about not only his safety but that he was truly loved. I know that he is loved at this daycare and that if for some reason someone wasn't loving him like they should, Leah would correct it immediately. Even when he is grumpy, they still seem to understand how to eventually make him happy again. As I mentioned earlier, it's not a perfect world, and he has had his bumps and bruises, but he is a very busy and brave little boy. Sometimes a little too brave! Every time he get's even a little hurt, the director or one of his teachers gives me a care call just to let me know that everything is fine but that he may have a little bump or bruise. Anytime that I have had any questions or concerns they have immediately been addressed and answered. If you are looking for a fancy, say all the right words, play the perfect part place, then there are certainly more expensive facilities that will probably give you that. But if you are looking for people who will truly love your child as their own and who will actually be open and honest with you, Children's lighthouse in Waxhaw is definitely the best daycare for that!

Love, love, love this school. I currently have my infant Son in this school and I have to say I'm very happy with how my child is being cared for. I was very nervous about returning back to work after maternity leave was over and letting people take care of my ten weeks old. You will understand if you are a first time mom. They have the flex program which is great also. At the end of each day, I always receive a daily activity report with a comprehensive detail on how my son's day went, what time he ate, slept, tummy time and play time. My son have a reflux problem and they take extra time with him after feeding. I watch him on camera every day and he receives so much love and care from Ms Jordan and Ms. Whitney. They are just the best. Overall, I feel very comfortable leaving my son in this loving, caring, warm and great learning environment.

My 3 year old goes to this daycare, she loves the teaches. I have a lot of friends with children around my daughters age, they tell me all the time how smart she's gotten from attending this daycare. I myself LOVE the staff, I'm a female mechanic, single mom...some of you know the struggle, but everyone here is how I like to say, "down to earth". Absolutely hands down the best daycare my daughter has ever been in, well worth the investment.

First time mom here. I was a bit apprehensive about taking my child to a daycare because of all the horrible things I've heard, but after doing extensive research, i picked the lighthouse daycare. I haven't regretted it. having the webcam and the friendliness of the director is a plus. I feel JC's is in good hands while i'm at work. I would recommend to anyone looking for a safe secure place

My daughter has been attending this location since she was 9 months old and she will be 2 in August. This was her first experience at a daycare and the transition was surprisingly easy! She absolutely loves her teachers and the other children. She Has learned so much from attending children's lighthouse and it's amazing how much the teachers and staff love her. I am now due with my 2nd child and when he is ready I will be enrolling him as well! I would definitely recommend this location to any parents!

We love the Children's Lighthouse in Waxhaw! The staff is truly amazing. Always helpful and caring and willing to go above and beyond for our girls (ages 1 and 3). I really couldn't ask for a better place for my girls to learn and grow. Thank you to the entire staff for all you do day in and day out!

My 2 daughters (2year old and 4 year old) have been attending the Children’s Lighthouse for almost a year now. When we first started taking our daughters to this daycare we were not happy. The previous director had a lack of skill to be polite. Right when we made the decision to pull out our girls, Mrs. Leah took over as the Director. She convinced us to give her the opportunity to take care of our girls. Although we were skeptical, we gave her the opportunity because Mrs. Leah has a very sincere, honest and attentive character. It is incredible how Mrs. Leah has turned that place around. From sanitation to attention to details. She has brighten up the daycare with fun decor that caters to the seasons and/or events. The teachers seem more engaged and you always feel welcomed and as part of their family. It takes a team to be successful, but it takes a leader to to drive the team to success. Mrs. Leah is certainly driving this daycare to success as she continues to look for ways to improve the experience of the daycare for the children, the parents and her staff!

Our 8 month old has been at Children’s Lighthouse for 4 months, and we couldn’t be happier. As first time parents, the staff has made the transition much easier for us!

I love Childrens lighthouse. My children are happy when I drop them off and cry when it's time to leave. They enjoy coming to school which wasn't the case in our previous school. The staff are very friendly and management knows my kids names and very warm towards us. My mother in law loves coming here to pick up our little ones and also said that my children are always happy when she watches them in class. They are learning, socializing and making friends. I don't have to worry when I drop off my kids in school everyday. Thanks to the wonderful staff of Childrens lighthouse.

Typically I am not someone who takes the time to write reviews, but when it comes to my children and the care of any other children I feel a responsibility to do so.. As a former parent that has a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education and years of experience I want to warn any families looking that for care for their children to please continue to look elsewhere.. Although this center has a very "shiny" appearance as it is fairly newer and there are some "fairly ok teachers", it is mostly a facade. They do not have enough quality staff with the proper educational background to create a consistently positive educational environment for children.. they shuffle children from one classroom to another classroom throughout the day to meet their state ratio requirements.. There is very little instruction in the classrooms throughout the day, and the children spend the majority of the day doing whatever they want. Don't get me wrong, I don't want my daughter sitting a table all day doing worksheets but I want to see such more guided learning where she is playing throughout the day but being guided by the teacher during appropriate times. Overall if you are looking for a simple daycare option this may be ok, but if you are looking for a preschool program that will help your child develop into a lifelong learner then I would strongly consider some of the private preschool options in the area.

worst school , I actually want to give minus rating, my experience, 2018 Aug 20 , my younger daughter's 3rd day in this school for her preschool , morning 10:20 I got call from this school ,I was told my daughter tripped over and hit something and there's a deep gash on her forehead and they couldn't stop the bleeding , they ask me go there and pick her up . So I rushed to the school, my daughter was sitting behind the front desk , pressing a ice bag with some toilet papers on her head ,the front desk lady turned over from her computer and revealed my daughter's wound , it's a 1/2 inch wide ,1/3 deep hole or gash , it looks scary , I see white layer behind the blood it looks like bone , there's blood everywhere on the paper and it's still bleeding, I questioned this lady how this happened ,she told me she don't know , need to ask the teacher Anna, their manager or owner Christine followed me entered the classroom, I asked the teacher what has happened , she told me my daughter tripped over on the playground , I asked her why the playground would have such sharp object that can penetrate the forehead , and why it's not safe on the playground ? they couldn't answer , the owner just told me it happens, what?! I put my kid in your school not to have her injured like this , what if it's the eye got hit , what if she has concussion ? it's supposed to be a day care to take care not to be irresponsible , and the school doesn't have any first aid applied to my child and they don't have any sterilize process , I was outrageous and same time helpless . I immediately took my child to the ER to have her checked and stitched up . I should have known this actually , 1.this school has no wait list unlike other school . 2. the school is definitely understaffed , my child's class only has 1 teacher vs 10+ children 3. they don't teach anything , basically just letting them do whatever they want , I see children there have no discipline and dont seem to communicate to each other much just horse play . 4. their playground has a some safety issues, apart from what my child has hit , there's a cement basketball court that has one corner stick out . I'm not being overreact or over protective , my elder child was in 2 preschool and pre K and it was all nice experience , children get injure on leg or having bruise but not have their head penetrated ! I see this school having good rating on google, now I know most of the comment is fake . avoid this school at any cost ! ------------update on 10/19------------------ so we received the ER medical bill , a couple hundred dollars , I called this school and talked to their director Christine , I told her this is their responsibility because their unsafe facility and negligence of care and they need to pay the medical bill , this is what she said exactly " this is what you think " ... they are so dishonest , this is my child's responsibility !? she told me she would send me the incident report but I didn't receive anything . I'm going to the court .

We love Lighthouse! Our daughter has grown so much just in the few months she has been there. The teachers genuinely care about each child in their classroom and my daughter loves her teachers. They also have cameras in each room and outside so you can always log in and see what they are up to. We are so happy to have found this daycare and can't wait for our second baby to learn and grow there too!!

We absolutely love Children's Lighthouse Waxhaw. As a first time mom, I was very nervous sending my precious little thing to a daycare but everyone at the center helped tremendously to make the transition as smooth as possible. There is always someone to spread some love when my baby is fussy. From the owner (Ms. Iyore), to the directors (Ms. Erika and Ms. Christine), to every single teacher in our child's room (Ms. Gloria, Ms. Mona, Ms. Marie, Ms. Sharmin and many more in the future), everyone is just marvelous at their work and we deeply love them all. We hope this relationship continues in its lovely path for the years to come.

I don’t even know how I can start to express how much I love love love Childrens Lighthouse Waxhaw. It has been a sanity and life saver for me. My baby boy has been going there regularly since he was a tiny little infant. Their directors are so friendly and make you feel at home. They now have a new director, Tatyana, who is so welcoming and so friendly. The teachers are so sweet, so involved and so caring. Soon as my now 18 months old toddler gets to his classroom he hugs his teachers. That shows me how much he loves them. All his teachers are just great. I was not the kind of mom that easily wanted to drop my baby at a daycare. But once I visited children’s lighthouse, all my anxiety was put to rest. They have cameras in the rooms so you can check on your little one online anytime anywhere once you register. They also give you a daily log showing what your little one has been up to all day. What they ate and how much, diaper changes and their mood that day. They have a fantastic play area outside and a play gym (No boredom for the children at all). Trust me if you have a toddler, they would probably rather be at a cool place like this than stay home. The children are fed a great variety of meals so you don’t even have to pack anything. They have a structured program and teach a lot to the children. I don’t have enough words to describe how happy I am with this daycare. It is just a God send and I highly recommend it. If any parent needs me to explain more, please feel free to email me.

Leah, Audrey and the entire team at children's light house make me feel as if they are our family. My kids enjoy going there and most days do not want to leave. They provide top notch care.

I had such a horrible experience with this so-called 5 star childcare facility. They have a very high turn over rate and people who will care for your infant without knowing them for more than an hour. Everyone there is unprofessional and the director is one of them. Please take your child elsewhere. As a first time mom I took my child here and this place will be ALWAYS be a bad example of a daycare center. I learned the hardway. Kiddie Academy is a great center and right down the rd (good team an dgreat rates) please do yourself a favor and skip this center. I will be more than happy to e-mail any moms about my experience there.

We've been at children's lighthouse for 2 yrs now.. son graduated from preschool, Ms. Holly is a fantastic teacher, very loving and caring... the perfect teacher to prepare children for kindergarten. Love Ms. Holly. My daughter has been at children's lighthouse since birth... and every teacher shes had have been extremely caring and loving to her. These infant-toddler teachers are very devoted to their children... a blessing for working parents, to know the kids are cared for with love. Thank you

Hands down the best facility and staff I have ever seen. I have 4 children and my last daughter was a preemie with special needs and a feeding tube. She is at a great risk for aspirating thin liquids and not have I ever been concerned while shes there. This facility and staff took this on and every single teacher in this school has been amazing with my daughter. They took the time to make sure she was being fed properly and never singled her out from attention, love and affection. They love and care for your children as if they were their own and who doesn't want that? Miss Anna runs this facility flawlessly and is always smiling and cheerful. I know shes exhausted, can you imagine what all she has to do. But needless to say the least she rocks it.. DAILY... The teachers pay close attention to details, and they know your children's' routine. Very very blessed to have a facility and staff like this caring for my baby girl. Thank you all so much for what you do with and for Lola daily :)

Our son has been there since he was 12 weeks old and just turned 2. All of his teachers, all of whom are still at the school, have been absolutely amazing. He has learned so much so quickly thanks to them. The daycare is invested in creating and maintaining a strong school culture by hosting many events to involve the parents, too. The transitions an changes are always hard for us as parents, but the teachers have made it seamless every time. We are beyond grateful for the comfort this daycare provides while we have to be away at work. It’s is beyond clear that our son loves his teachers and loves going to school.

The lighthouse is clean and the staff was very nice and welcoming. we toured and were very impressed, especially with Leah Parker, the manager! They went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable.

Love Children’s lighthouse. They truly love children and take care of them like their own.

My 3 year old has been attending CLH since it established in Waxhaw. The director is great, and she exceeds in the ability to accommodate any concerns/requests; actually, all of the staff do. Whether I have a personal or business issue, it’s resolved. Ms. Christie has helped me when I thought I couldn't handle my child during the terrible two's stage. Trust is one of the many key factors I consider when enrolling my child anywhere; rest assure, any accidents that occurs, I’m notified immediately. That’s another key factor for me, getting notified. There are daily signs posted on the walls, doors, and hallway. I love getting a weekly/monthly update via email; it’s convenient. Another thing, I love having easy access to watch my son online during my lunch breaks. I think the teachers do an amazing job at helping the children adjust when it’s time to transition to another class due to age. Ms. Ashley is the two’s teacher, and she is absolutely AWESOME! My day goes a lot better knowing that my son is safe, and with teachers who care. He’s at a center that provides love and nurtures only the way a mother can while also educating your child. I’m in awe at the things my son learns. Thank you CLH & Staff.

They have a Great staff and always doing fun and educational activities with kids. Best daycare around!!!

Celina Del Toro

Very unprofessional front office staff. During my time there they went through 4 different directors. My child was constantly sick. I often found him with other children's pacifiers in his mouth when he didn't even use a pacifier. When I brought up concern for my child's welfare when I pulled him out, I was told by the director, "Good luck finding a daycare that doesn't have sick children." This is not an exaggeration. That is verbatim. Since my child has left he has not been sick 1 time. Not even a sniffle and has learned more than he ever did in his time at Lighthouse. The teachers are severely understaffed and do not have the sufficient guidance to take care of our children properly, other than to beat into our heads to wash their hand upon arrival. The security is also terrible. Besides the pass code to the door, which anyone could follow behind, there is never anyone at the front desk and the door to the classrooms is left unsecured,. Then they bribe the parents for reviews with a raffle for free tuition. Best decision I could have made leaving.

Great summer school, my kids come home happy every evening. The activities have little of everything which made learning and playing fun.

Jamie Nader

I had a very good experience at Children's Lighthouse Waxhaw! The staff is very friendly and helpful. I felt like my foster child's teachers went out of their way for him. Even though he was a handful, they were always patient, loving and firm when they needed to be. Miss Jasmin and Miss Hailey rock!

Julia Mamus

Im shocked by these previous reviews. My two children (infant and a toddler when they started) have been attending this school since they opened in 2012 and it has given me the peace of mind that any mother can ask for. The school and its staff have helped me through the terrible two stage and have always treated my kids with love, attention and respect. The overall staff is great and the atmosphere is very warm and welcoming. It is so surprising how the director know all the kids and parents by name. My kids just love coming here and they are learning a lot. My three year old ask a lot of questions and are quite inquisitive and it is well encouraged by the teachers. My kids are very happy here and sometimes difficult to get them to leave during pick up time because they are learning and at the same time having so much fun which makes me a happier mom.
