I graduated from here, and I honestly had the worst time. The high school portion of this school isn't very good. A lot of the teachers are teaching classes they have no knowledge about, and just took on for an extra buck. They are way too strict about dress code and probably care more about if the students are wearing polos under their school sweatshirts than the students' education. The staff favors some kids more than others too especially with how they apply some school rules. For a "college prep school" I think that I would have been much more prepared if I had just went to public school. Don't get me wrong, I think that some of the teachers here genuinely care about what they are teaching, but the school doesn't have the experience and organization for what they are saying they have. When it comes to the AP classes, they are structured exactly the same as the regular classes. Maybe in a few years, when the school and administration has had a lot more experience, the school will be up to par with what they are trying to pass it off to be.

Pat is a dummy dumb

I'm a student at this school and i don't enjoy it in the slightest. The favoritism is ridiculous. Teachers are unmotivated and some students are very disrespectful. Attending doesn't feel like a real school experience, it's far too restrictive and the admin are trash.

Tomato Biscuit- School is overall ok, keep in mind when ordering the uniform shirts to physically try them on. Many times they dont fit well, keep in mind next year there will be more strict dress code, the pants cannot be cargo and must be Dickie style pants.

I went there for years and it was alright. My mother works there currently. It is a small school so teachers know you and you know the teachers.

We have not enrolled our children yet but based on Richard Webbs review, I am confident this will be a great school for our kids. Richard, you may want to do a little more research about our founding Fathers, our country's history and what the first amendment actually means. Either way, I am glad to see that as a minority, my children will not be oppressed by the 'christian majority'.

The integrity at this school is horrible, a total lack of professionalism in regards to the admissions process, the result of a poorly trained staff. Management will not own their documented mistakes, their board will stonewall addressing them. The front desk staff is more focused on showing you who is the authority than building cooperative relationships with parents. The teachers are a mixed bag. There are some great teachers there, while the other half are more interested in leaving at the bell than helping a struggling student. I sure hope the new bullying laws apply to this school. This school truly contributed in multiple ways to a disaster for our family, don't let their rhetoric fool you.

Sky pointe I think is the best Somerset academy's in Nevada. I give it a four not a five for the teachers and for the students. The teachers can be really rude and the students are very disrespectful.

I am a high school student at Somerset Sky Pointe. And the school is very disappointing. It is told this is a college prep school, but there is no way that is true. Every class does not challenge us or prepares us for the real thing; college. For example the AP classes are the same as the regular classes. I even had a teacher tell me there is no difference between the classes. Kids in AP classes aren't given more challenging work or even prepared for college work. I'm still confused why it is called a college prep school. But, I guess it makes sense in a way. It prepares us for how a real college will treat us. They will put our problems to the side and they will treat us like we're nothing. That is what real college is from what I have seen at this school. For example, towards the last 3 days of school. All students were not allowed to bring bags into the school. Even so, I have allergies and need to keep my medicines with me at all times. But, I was told by a teacher and an admin that they did not care. My bag could not be brought in the school. I felt hurt and attacked. This school has shown me, truly, what college will be like. The school has shown a great deal of how much they don't care about the students. For example, the schedules. Which I know, many parents and students have mixed feelings about this. But, from my experience so far along with other student's experiences. The school has messed up many student's schedules. Student's choose classes they want to be in and expect to be in them. Somehow, the school doesn't seem to care what we want. After being excited and happy to be in those classes we chose. We are given schedules that have us in classes we don't want to be in and ones we didn't pick. When complaints come from us about these messed up schedules. The school puts it to the side and tells us it's not their problem. We are told, "Oh well, these are your classes. We can't do anything. They won't be changed." This is a short summary. We're talked to like it's our fault. How could it be our fault? We choose a class then we're put in a different class. So, it's our fault that happened? An example, today I picked up my schedule and was put in a language class. I never chose that class and I have all my credits for language classes. The counselor before she left. Told me I had all my credits. Yet, I'm put in a language class anyway. I was told my schedule wouldn't be changed. I have to stay in those classes. What kind of nonsense is this? How could this school be so careless? It's like they don't care at all. I personally see no point in choosing a class if they just choose it for us. The teachers seem to care more about themselves than their own students. Although, I shall correct myself. Not ALL the teachers just care about themselves. Others, show great compassion and caring for their students. While some, make it very clear, they only care about themselves and money. I have seen and heard how some teacher's will talk down to their student's. They make them feel less of themselves. Do they not know that when a student-- No. A child, who is talked down like that that can hurt their feelings and slowly lead them to self harm or worse. We all want an education. We all want to learn something for the real world. It's enough that the school system is jacked up.. But it is bad enough when a teacher talks down to a student. Every student, including me, we come to learn. We didn't come to be talked down to and disrespected. Do not get me wrong. I understand we also have to be respectful to the teachers. But, aren't they also suppose to teach, help, and respect us? I have been to many schools. Public schools, private schools, charter schools, etc. But, I've never been to a school that treated students this way. I am indeed disappointed. I hope, if anyone comes to this school. Please know what you are getting into. Please know how much pain, disappointment, and aggravation you are getting into.

Love this campus! My son has done really really well here.

If you plan on enrolling your kids here. Please don’t. Your wasting your time on a sorry excuse of a college prep school. This school has little to no respect for the students. They enforce dress code like it’s a actual law. (Example you cant wear a plain zip up jacket or plain hoodie. With ZERO branding and logos.) The Yondr pouches were a waste of time and money. This principal wants the staff to be evil gremlins about the Yondr and dress code, it’s at the point where there’s little to no socialism, kids can’t go up to teachers and admin about problems at school and at home. The admin would rather spend there funding on less important things than important things, I’m a senior currently and I feel very sorry for the younger kids. Please avoid this school at all cost.

If your chain of schools cannot follow the First Amendment in the case of not allowing Mckinsey Fraser to use Christian themes in her schoolwork, your funding should be revoked. Stop imposing your lawbreaking atheistic worldview. This is a Christian country, founded on biblical principles. The will of the minority should not dictate policy to the rest of us.

This school is really bad. The administration here are lazy and refuse to listen to the students. Almost all of the teachers don't teach here but instead care about themselves. Dress code is enforced too much here without even teaching a lesson. I recommend a different school that doesn't have any of this nonsense.

(I attend this campus so I know). There are a couple of annoying kids here and there. Also, Richard, you do realize that in America, we have the right to choose our own religion and go to any school. This is NOT a religious school. It is a college-prep school. With the annoying kids and semi-strict teachers, I rate it 4, not 3, because of it's educational purposes. A lot of times, the teachers make work fun. You are treated like your maturity-of-age (If you're in 1st grade, the teacher helps you out a lot. If you're in 7th grade, you are expected to independently complete the given work when it is due) and this is a 97.5% max secure school. I would give it 100% if not given the fact that a couple of years ago, we had a hard lockdown for about an hour. This year, fire drills are given once each month, and there are hall monitors, office workers, student aids, people that work as volunteers, and other people who can monitor your child's safety. I said this is not a religious school, however you may find that 3 quarters of students who attend Somerset are mormon. I have not yet met a person who is not Christian or Mormon that attend this school, though (Actually, I think I met a Catholic once). It may be a big step for your child because I started at Somerset in grade 5 and they switch between about 5 classes a day. To sum this paragraph up, I think your child will have an educational time at this school and if he/she has any problems with some crappy (pardon my language) idiots here, contact the teacher, counselor, or principal, and the problem will most likely be solved. By the way, if you're wondering what are the punishments, here they are: 1. Verbal Warning - Child is spoken to and problem is recognized and roughly resolved. 2. Second verbal warning - Child is firmly spoken to and and is removed from the conflict. Occasionally taken out of class to be spoken to. 3. Citation - If the child still is a part of the conflict, a citation will be recieved and (I think) parents are required to sign it. 4. Parent Phone Call/ E-Mail - Parents are contacted of the conflict and a conference is strongly recommended. 5. Suspension - If the child is STILL an active part of the conflict, he/she will be removed from the premises for a few days. Hope my review is helpful! - BTF

I love this school. My daughter started attending this academy (Somerset Sky Pointe) in the 5th grade. Within the first few days of school they realized my daughter needed immediate implementation of help. They helped set up meetings and she was able to recieve care and attention needed. When my daughter first arrived at Somerset Sky Pointe coming from the local public school, my daughter was extremely behind & afraid of school. She was also very shy, quite and withdrawn. I believe through the care of the staff and the processes implemented, they have made an extremely positive difference in my daughters life. My daughter is now an A,& B student at Somerset Sky Pointe high school. She loves people & has many friends. One of the things I love and have noticed the most is, she loves people because of their differences. She looks at every person's unique qualities as something special. I really belive much of this has to do so much with the atmosphere she grew up with at this school as well as the care she has received. I truly believe if you are a positive parent and are looking for a school to make a positive difference in many ways, Somerset Sky Pointe is an excellent choice. I really can't say enough, because I am so thankful! I really believe what matters most is our children's education as well as their positive outlook on life. I had to edit this review in reponse to a review I saw from Richard. I absolutely don't even belive his post. I don't belive the school would not allow something because it's Christian. As another parent stated a huge amount of the kids are Mormons & there are many Christian kids. They even have an after school Christian club, as one of the many clubs they offer. This school is very diversified. As I said before, I think this school is the reason my daughter loves people FOR their differences. True, there are a few kids in every school that may have an issue. However, the parents should bring it to the schools attention. This school has been extremely pro-active when anything has been brought to their attention. We as parents need to be responsible as well. One last thing, I know my daughter will be going to college because of this school. Thank you so much Somerset Sky Pointe!

My wife and love this school. My kids will go here all the way through highschool. In my line of work, I see the kids that go to the other local high schools and it makes me angry because only a few make it unsafe for the other kids that go there. Nothing is ever perfect but this school comes close.
