Not a true college prep school. Very limited in their HS course selection, no dedicated college advisory or carreer planning counselor. Eagle Ridge Academy provides a very sparse AP course offering. Students are taught the Shirley English program through 6th grade. This is discarded in 7th and 8th grade for a confusing and disappointing English program. Humanities classes are offered in High School in place of History and English. The school is understaffed and experiences high turn over. Teachers are overwhelmed and unable to score, grade, and provide meaningful feedback on the sheer volume of work they assign. There are better choices in the Twin Cities if you are considering a quality Charter school.

They don't tell you that the lunch box you forgot at home that your parents brought was actually in the lunchroom the whole time. Was forced to pay for an emergency lunch and eat it only to be told that my lunch was actually available two hours later. It was my birthday too.. >So I guess this school is kinda rad. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Amazing school. Classical education works. Teachers are A+, second to none. Students can be a mixed bag, but there is a lot of diversity and bullying is not tolerated. Eagle Ridge is an amazing community of education and learning that will change your life.

This is my first year at ERA , and probably the far best year in my schooling. Thanks ERA.

BasketBloxBros .

ERA is lit and has lit people and lit classrooms and lit lunches and lit teachers and lit recess area but not a lit basketball for outside so i cant crossover people that much and hoopers like me have to grind grind grind on basketball so yea, but the basketball is not that bad, its just the grip and yea. also, the lunch is the best part because its so so so good and the recipe is sooooo lit and its a good refresher for getting ready for recess so people have extra extra energy to swish those 3 pointers.

I have personally gone to this school in grades Kindergarten-6th and I have a lot to say. In Kindergarten schools used to offer half day which I think was great but doesn’t do anymore. This is a charter school so it can do half day if it wanted. In 1st-5th grade you are in the lower school, School of Grammar. Eagle Ridge Academy is great for grades K-5 but I have reasons that you should NOT send your child there for 6-12. K-5 is good because ERA is great at teaching reading, math, and manners. But, when you get to 6-12, ERA just goes down hill. In 6-8 ( School of Logic ) your child will experience a dramatic change in expectations. They expect so much from your child. Examples: Always show CIPHER (Citizenship, Integrity, Perserverance, Honor, Excellance, and Reapect) Show your best in everything you do I know what you are thinking, “Those are good things!” NO! This school wears uniforms (not a big factor but an example to help prove my point). It doesn’t let your child show creativity. They have no way of expressing themselves. Next, ERA doesn’t let you choose that many classes. A music class is required. The classes you can choose, it doesn’t give a description of it. Your child could feel pressured. There are two main reasons for this: 1. The teachers make your child feel dumb! You can see teachers favoriting other students. Students who talk with the teachers get more/better opportunities given to them. Teachers already expect you know things. I only know of 3 out of 84 teachers who make you feel ok to get something wrong. This school hands out awards. It isn’t a fair playing field because the shy students could participate and earn an award, bad students could behave and earn an award, the good students, they don’t get awards often unless they do something extremely good. 2. This school has rotten students. The kids who attend ERA are rude, and only good people around teachers. They swear, they only talk about love and the opposite sex. The kids at ERA would be laughing because I used the word sex. Dirty minds. The kids didn’t start out this way. In Kindergarten when I knew them they were all different. They were kids. Now they are robots ( around teachers) and snobs outside. They make fun of other kids. They bring out feeling books from the library and give them to kids and say something rude to the kid they gave the book to. I look at my friends and only 1 is an actual human. The kids are so immature. The teachers favor the smarter kids. When you get something wrong, you feel dumb because the kids and teachers make you embarrassed. To continue, the h word. HOMEWORK! I know what you are thinking, “A kid who is complaining about homework.” NO! The list below shows how much homework a night you have in each grade. Kindergarten: 10 min 1st grade: 30 min 2nd grade: 30 min 3rd grade: 40 min 4th grade: 40 min 5th grade: 1 hour 6th grade: 3-4 hours 7-12 grade: 4-6 hours The kids have no time time to spend with family or friends. All in all, DONT send your child to ERA! YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!!!!!! ( I’m finally leaving the school after 3 years of consideration. )

It's an awesome school, let me get that straight out of the way. It only has a star knocked off for a few reasons: 1. Some teachers are very biased towards certain topics. In my experience as a student, a few teachers have expressed their political opinions, have shown obvious bias towards select students, and have graded asignments based on which student did it, rather than just grading it normally. Only a few teachers have done this to me/my friends, and I think it's a small enough issue that it shouldn't completely affect my opinion of the school. 2. Class options are limited Your options in classes are annoyingly restricted. When enrolling for next years classes, I was told that I could not take online classes over the summer and skip to the next level of math the next year (for me I wanted to take Alegebra II over the summer to get to PreCalc next year, but they said that it was "inadvisable.") Another issue here is that the elective classes only allow you to take 4 years of a Music class if you give up all other electives for your highschool career. I say this is a mistake on their part, since often times students who excell in one, will also excell in the other. (Subpoint) Language Program The language department is based on only Latin and Spanish, although CIS greek is offered to juniors and seniors. They do not offer any other languages but Latin until highschool, and even then it is restricted to just Spanish and Latin. This is fairly unfortunate for anyone who loves the school, but also wants to study say... German--Or Mandarin. But also, the positives. 1. The Humanities Program Oh my god their humanities program is amazing. All through highschool, you learn Logic and Rhetoric, all the while reading everything from the ancient classics to Shakespeare to Orwell, and every day discussing the ideas put forth in each book with essentially no topic off the table. My friends would call me "brainwashed," but screw it, the discussions you have would never happen without this program. Seriously, I can't stress how much this program does for students. 2. The teacher-student connection Each class has an average of 24 students in the upper school, and each teacher seems to have an actual connection with their students in many cases, and the friendly conversations between teacher and students are often the highlights of my day. Although... the teachers can get a bit biased towards the students that they are more friendly with. 3. The student community The student community is probably the main thing that keeps me from leaving the school. While sometimes you need a thick skin to survive them, the students are most often welcoming to new faces. The atmosphere of open discussion from the Humanities program makes it so that students with blatantly opposing views can get along as good friends without constantly bickering (me and Jackson. god if he reads this...). The freshman class, my class as of writing this, has about 80 students, and I can say with confidence that I know every one of their names, and can hold a decent conversation with every one of them. Not to mention that I can also say the same about most of the 8th grade and 10th grade, and that I have a fair amount of friends in the senior class that *don't* just shoot me down for being a freshman. I wasn't expecting to write an essay. Woops. Hope this helped I guess?

Really good place. I spent 4-8th grades here and met some of my bestest friends and made lots of memories. The academics is a little rigorous, but pays off in the end. One of my favorite places.

I was here from K-2, so I don't know much about how good that school is now, but in my time, I felt it was the best school ever. I had good friends, teachers were nice, and overall a good feeling. It seems like a saint-like school compared to my school now. Teachers aren't the best, kids are snobs, and the complete opposite to Minnesotan people.

If you want to do well, don't start off on the wrong foot. Education wise: PROFESSIONAL AND EXCEPTIONAL. If you need to work with a teacher, they sometimes have time for you. This school is very good educational wise. Since I started here in 8th grade, I was in the middle of no mans land. Pretty much saying failing. But if you try, you actually can get good grades. Some tests are hard and some are easy. But when your in a final, your in for a treat. It's missing 1 star because of some of the teachers lack of focus of a kids education( such as not giving sample questions in a study guide). But overall if you are a kid who likes challanges, come to this school. If you are a trouble maker that doesn't like challenges, I suggest not choosing this school.
