Our younger son did well in the elementary school and it was a great, loving environment, but that is where the positives end. The Jr High and High School are so focused on bringing in teachers with impressive credentials they forget that these teachers need to be able to actually teach and understand teenagers. My son went from an A/B student to actually failing classes when moving to TPCA because teachers would punish his inability to stay focused by just failing him on assignments. If your child has any sort of issues like ADD or ADHD you should not even consider TPCA in my opinion. If your child doesn't fit in the bubble they have created of their perfect student, they will be treated very poorly by the staff and principals. We finally removed our children when our son was wrongfully accused of something, even after fact gathering and finding out the accusation was completely false, the school refused to apologize because his ADD was too much of a distraction for them. Kids here are encouraged to tell on each other to the point of making up stories to make other students look bad. The Jr High Principal actually has a list of student he calls "squirrely" and I've heard teachers even use the same term. Don't think families that donate large amounts of money get special treatment, we were treated very poorly even after investing heavily in the school as a brand new family. Talking about extending grace and actually doing it are not the same thing TPCA. Targeting a child because they don't conform to standards and have a hard time paying attention instead of getting to know the child and working with them and their parents to be successful should not require "extra training" like your teachers told us. We love Traders Point Church but the Jr High and HS here are headed down the wrong path as educators, leaders and Christians.
