My daughter just turned 16 and will be finishing her sophomore year in high school. I look back and wonder how she became this curious and nurturing young girl. When we moved to Westport in 2005 several families recommended Sauagtuck Nursery School. When it came time to make the decision and enroll my daughter this was my first choice and only place I could see her attending. The director, Ellen DeHuff and her amazing staff provided a creative environment with enrichment programs in school and field trips outside of school. When anyone ever asks for a pre-school recommendation I will always tell them Saugatuck Nursery School. Thank you Ellen and the wonderful staff

THE WORST experience at this school. I do not recommend Saugatuck Nursery School. Any school who asks you for 2 MONTHS tuition AND an application fee just to apply should have been a warning. I want to spare another family the agony of having to go through what we did at this school. I want to send my child to a school that follows the rules, policies, procedures, and contracts, as stated, in writing.

NIGHTMARE!!! I am writing to spare other families the terrible experience we have had dealing with this school. I applied to this school in good faith. This school not only requires an application fee, it also requires 2 MONTHS TUITION just to apply. That should have been a red flag, but I felt comfortable because I signed a written contract stating I could get my money back within 3 days of written acceptance. I NEVER received any written notice from the school and when I requested my money back in accordance with their contract, I was denied. After trying to work with the school for over a month, I had no choice but to take them to court. The judge ordered them to return the FULL amount plus court costs by a certain date. I have yet to receive a refund. I find that so troubling, I am so glad I did not send my child to that school. Picking a school is not only about finding great teachers and nice classrooms. It is about finding a school with adminitrators that are ethical and want the best for the children and families at the school.

We've had a great experience at the school. My daughter is in the 2's program. She loves all the hands on activities. They do a great job at teaching kids independence.

Saugatuck Nursery School is a remarkable school. As a child's first step into education, there is nothing more a parent could ask for. The teachers, and director, are experienced, creative and a delight to work with. My son has simply blossomed under their guidance. This play-based program focuses on developmentally appropriate skills that many other schools rush through--social, emotional, gross and fine motor, and more. I delight in how my son comes home--smiling, laughing and covered in paint! At SNS, children are able to PLAY. Play is how children discover their world and a lack of play in the early years is a detriment to a child's educational journey. The teachers at Saugatuck Nursery School love and care for each child. They create a warm, comfortable environment that encourages children to try, to make mistakes, and to try again. There is nothing more that we could want in a school and we are so fortunate to be a part of this nurturing community.

My daughter has done beautifully- her teachers work with the whole class on cognitive development, physical activity and play outside, and provide opportunities for reading, art and music. As an educator who has worked with students of various ages and academic backgrounds, I am thrilled that she has such a wonderful learning environment at a beautiful school!

My son started in the 2s program and now he is in the 4s program. He loves it there and never wants to come home! The teachers are all so wonderful and go above and beyond. I'm so glad I chose Saugatuck Nursery School -- I will miss them all so much next year when my son starts kindergarten!
