My issue is with their sense of what excellent customer service is. But first, the good news. We ordered two sofas, two reclining chairs, a family room designer rug, two King size “box springs”, and an entire bedroom set with a King size med and mattress. We love all of this! The furniture is terrific and it seems like we got a good deal. Matt worked with us personally to select and order everything. That started back in October 2017. I won’t go through the entire ordeal, but let’s just say that we experienced some of the same things that the lower ratings here and on Yelp experienced. Namely over commitment on dates and under delivery, lack of communication (promises to call us back that we’re not kept), some damaged furniture, and an unwillingness to take accountability. In my line of work we know that some people are accountable and others are responsible. Sometimes the same people are both. When the furniture manufacturer doesn’t ship the furniture according to the promised timeframes that M Kaplan communicated, the manufacturer is responsible for those delays. I get that. But we didn’t order the furniture from the manufacturer. We ordered it from M Kaplan and ultimately they need to be accountable for our satisfaction. We were repeatedly lectured that delays were not his responsibility and that there was nothing he could do about it. Perhaps there is truth to that, however, they needed to do a much better job setting expectations and pro-actively communicating with us. When we finally got the last set of furniture in June 2018, we were happy that the lengthy ordeal was over. Love the furniture, not so much the customer service.
I see the owner in their response is claiming they don’t have an invoice with my name on it. That is correct, the invoice is under the name of my partner who lives with me. She and I purchased the furniture together. We both met Matt Kaplan when we purchased it and I spoke personally with Matt Kaplan multiple times through this ordeal. Their response is disingenuous and typical of their customer service.
