What a true disappointment. Designed and Installers were great - product is great but the owners of this particular franchise were horrible to work with. Have been to my home 6 times and job is still not complete. Biggest issue is their inability to communicate and placing the blame on others. Granted there was complexity to my project in all fairness but that just did not have the capacity to handle it. Scheduled workers do not show up, did not bring the correct pieces to complete the job and I have tried my best to communicate each and every time what is required so that the job could be complete. I would recommend you use another company for closet organization.

Never used their service before but I was driving and one of their drivers was going so fast that it inspired us to drive faster and catch up. Couldn't catch him even tho we were pushing 100+ in a camaro and he was in a truck, but we did shave a clean 10 minutes off our trip to North Jersey

Absolute worst Service! DO NOT RECOMMEND! After a three month wait, the job was missing parts of the cabinets. I called and they said someone will be right out. Spoke with the "owner"" and he said he will take care of it. Weeks later, they sent me an email for a 2 month out apt... this was one of many errors. During this the "Owner" now wont return my calls.

This was by far the worst experience I have ever had with a contractor of any type coming into my home to do a renovation. The installation was untimely - was told about 3 weeks - it was two months. Appt. was scheduled for 2-4PM and they showed up at 6PM - no phone call - The only positive thing about this experience was that the installers were pleasant. A feature in our closet design that had been omitted was brought to our attention by the installer. We have now been trying to get this small part of the job completed to no avail. The people in the office are unprofessional and rude to their customers. I don't care whose fault it is - I just want to make it right and move on but all they do is promise to call back which they don't do. They even called us thieves because the installer tried to make up for being so late in arriving that he installed two small connector pieces of wood from some leftover material he had in the truck. That did it for me. This company is absolutely not interested in repeat business because there is no way I would ever use them again!! I called the corporate office and filed a complaint but no one has even contacted me about that. In the past few days, I could have referred them to two people for jobs but there is no way I'd let any of my friends go through the experience I just did. Save yourself the aggravation of dealing with these unprofessionals. They are the worst!!

After speaking with this location, I learned that it has recently been under brand new ownership (I'm told since spring 2016). The new owner (Dennis) took over and has improved quite a lot with new equipment and much better communication and service. They installed a set of cabinets in my master bedroom and they are very well done. I'm extremely happy with the work and will be coming back here for the other bedrooms and maybe even my office downstairs. Thanks!

very friendly but not very well organized. the cabinets do not go all the way to the wall. I have a new home so their excuse that they leave room for the wall in case it is not plumb is an excuse. I had cabinets done by another chain and thy fit the walls exactly. This was a trial for closets by design which they did not pass. I have a lot more to do but not with them

THEY ARE THIEVES AND LIARS ...... BEWARE!!! I had a custom cabinet put in my laundry room. They drilled through a waste pipe in the wall! The owners now refuse to repay me for plumber and massive holes in wall that I had to have patched and repainted. I was left voicemails that the "check was in the mail" It's now weeks later I am in the process of a lawsuit. DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT USING THESE DEADBEATS!! In retrospect I am amazed they didn't steal my deposit.

By far the worst service EVER!!! I wish I had taken the time to check out their reviews before hiring them. They are very misleading, super unprofessional, and they’re a scam. My little 7x7 closet which was suppose to be done in 2-3 weeks is “scheduled” to be done in 12 weeks. I’ve called numerous times and spoke to their staff, scheduling coordinator, etc. Everyone will tell you that they will call you in a week and they NEVER will. I’m currently on hold to speak to a manager (16 minutes now and counting) which I’m almost positive will either not pick up the phone and/or say they will get back to me. If this isn’t resolved ASAP, the owner Dennis Mattesich will need to step in. Utterly ridiculous!!

I got some new closets installed by this company and they are beautiful and match my room so nicely!! I met the new owner and he is really nice and took care of all my questions and worries. I highly recommend them!

Closets by Design in Central New Jersey should be fined and then probably closed. They have shown the worst customer service ever. If you are thinking of using them, please do not as you will be sorely disappointed. I have called them numerous times about an uncompleted job. They do not return my calls, they do not respond to a negative facebook post. In other words, they do not care at all about how their customers are doing. I am horrified by this negative experience. They closet design was not cheap and I cannot believe they have not completed their job. Buyer beware, the representative Kate, had me fill out much paperwork and I truly hope that you will not use this incompetent business. Next the Better Business Bureau and the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs. They should be closed.

Made appointment for today at 4. They did not show up so we called them. At 4:45 we were told that the designer would be here at 6. Then the designer texted me that she would not be here until 6:30. The prior appointment was apparently more important than keeping our appointment. They needed four hours at the other home and apparently thought that starting an appointment at 6:30 or later on a Saturday was ok. If they can’t get here on time to give us a quote I can only imagine what will happen for installation or service problems. Not today Satan. Then I see the comments here and I’m glad I did not get farther on the process.

I contracted Closets by Design in Trenton to install extensive shelving closet in one of my bedrooms. They installed the bulk of it but did not have some parts to complete the installation and promised to return within a week. It's been 2 months since then. No returned calls or messages. DISAPPOINTED. Update: Closet installed mid May, the issue with missing filler was fixed on August 3rd.

I purchased last year. I had ClosetsbyDesign to three bedrooms. Very simple. But they got it wrong anyway. In my sons I put in drawers. Well that was a mistake. After about 2 months the covers were coming off and to my surprise the screws were stripped. So no matter how many times I rescrewed them kept coming undone. It took me months literally 5 months to get this people back in to fix. And what did they do? They screwed the same screws didn't repair a thing. Now the other drawers are similiarly coming undone. I spent thousands of dollars for VERY VERY poor work. I'm not even going to call again to complain because it took months to get anyone to reply. I am not a competitor but a VERY DISSATISFIED CUSTOMER!! You can see from the posted picture the sawdust because the screws are constantly being pulled out every time you open the door. This picture was taken after I again screwed in the screws.

This is the second time we have had work done by them. The designer Karen worked with us through the design process for our garage and visited us 3 times until all was finalized. Great job. Note that Lisa did a fine job with the communications and scheduling. An Excellent job was done by the Installers, Twaheer & Andre. Solid work !

I thought my closet came out amazing until the installers told me that the drawers were made incorrectly and they would come back in a few weeks with the proper drawers and install. No problem I thought. 1 month later, no one has returned my calls, e-mails etc. I have an incomplete closet and no update to when I will get this resolved. If they would have just communicated to me - this would be a non-issue, but they ghosted.

My wife and I love our closets. The designer was top notch. She took almost three hours talking about the layout and accurately measuring out the design. She is an asset to the company and is a true professional. The service after the contract was signed is something else. No communication. Not thankful for the business. Arrogant on the phone. This culture probably comes from the owner of this particular franchise. If I can summarize... She thinks she has her customers over a barrel and there is nothing they can do about it... because its custom! This attitude comes through the phone and how they handle orders. It does not go over well... it irritates anyone who interacts with this franchise. The installation was excellent. The installers did a wonderful job. Be sure to tip them for their hard work... If this review only focused on the product, designer, and installation it would be five stars. Unfortunately, since this is a custom/personal product, it's important to have a great service along the way to the end result.
