Hiring Kathryn might have been the smartest thing we did during our renovations. We hired more people than I can remember the last year, from realtors to home inspectors to architects to contractors. By the time we found Kathryn, we were well into the process, and we told ourselves we didn’t need a designer - we could pick paint colors and handle buying all new furniture. We happened on her by chance, and decided to do a one hour consultation to see if we thought it was worth our time. We decided to hire her on the spot were fortunately able to find some additional availability that day. By the end of that day we handed our contractor sketches for wiring in new lights and adding built in shelves. Everything went very smoothly. She and our general contractor got along great, and communicated well. Every time we’d finish an appointment with her and I’d look at the list of all the decisions we’d made, I was just amazed at how much we’d get done! Nothing ever feels rushed, but somehow we accomplish more than I ever think is possible, and have never regretted any choice we made with her help. My spouse and I have very different taste - I am definitely “eclectic” and have trouble explaining what it is I want, and my spouse had very clear ideas about a modern style that was not very appealing to me. Kathryn was able to magically find a middle ground on general style, and places for both our preferences to shine while being complementary. We used pinterest boards and looked through together during our meetings. Her recommendations were all spot on - I can’t even explain how amazing the very affordable hand-crafted tables she pointed us to are! Kathryn found us amazing quirky tile for our fireplace that was just perfect… and had just been discontinued. She handled tracking it down and working with a supplier to get it for us, something that would have been difficult to do on our own! Every day I look around my house and smile at how perfectly it came out. It’s easy to look around and imagine my house without everything she designed and helped us pick, without the wall sconces, without the shelves around the fireplace, without the perfect discontinued fireplace tile that she tracked down for us. Kathryn brought to life the dreams that I couldn’t even explain I wanted! We get compliments all the time - when people hear about our purple house, they can’t imagine it looking as amazing as it does. Kathryn’s work was worth every penny, and I recommend her to all of my friends designing their homes!

We've hired Kathryn twice - once when we were renovating our kitchen, once for redoing our kids' bedroom - and I'm shortly going to be doing so again for help with my workroom lighting. She has a great eye for color, shape and style, and she's done a fine job working with our aesthetics: finding things *we'd* like given our particular tastes. Her sense of space and layout has also been quite helpful. But by far the best thing about working with her has been learning about *possibilities* - in every case, she's presented a few options that we didn't think of, and a few options we didn't even realize existed. (Some of them really neat!)

Kathryn worked with us on our kitchen, family room, and dining room design several years ago. When the time came to renovate our office and to put some finishing touches on the dining room, we knew we wanted to work with Kathryn again. Kathryn has taken the time to really understand our style preferences, and so her suggestions are always well-targeted. We trust her to help us narrow down selections (from "infinite" if we were doing it on our own) to choices that meet our tastes. We really enjoy working with her!

Kathryn was incredibly helpful. Her rates were reasonable and it was money well spent She has a keen eye for design, yet she didn't try to push her own style. She also used her knowledge of architecture and history to bear, which was refreshing.
