My wife And I went into the store to buy very expensive curtains , we returned 1 pair while buying another $240 they refused a refund Of $30.00 because their store policy only has 10day return policy ,after 10days it's store credit only ! We have spent a lot of money here including custom chairs with special order fabric etc etc . Now I refuse to buy anything here 10days is a bad policy , if you live out of town is not enough time, we complained and they said "owners make the decision" and of course theiy aren't available , so my only option is to spread the word nice product but friendly service like the others reviews don't exist here , buyer beware !

Saybrook Country Barn has nice unique gifts and home furnishings. They carry the awesome Ekornes Stressless furniture and the leather cleaner/ conditioner they recommend. Lovely place with great staff.

Lauri Donovan did a very professional job as a sales associate coming to my home, taking measurements and offering suggestions for two continental double rod sets for draperies and Kirsch Designer metal decorative brackets for our fur hanging. She recommended Vinny and Mike for the installation. They did a superb job. They each have a great deal of patience. The draperies and valences look gorgeous in the master bedroom and the second bedroom. The fur hanging is awesome. I have no hesitation in recommending Saybrook Home and their team for any home furnishing and installation.

Everyone was welcoming, the place had beautiful things, inspiring ideas and it was enormous. You could get lost in there for an entire day if you wanted to, a lovely place to go and Shop, Window Shop, redecorate your house, or any or all of the above!

I was really disappointed by this store. My wife and I spent around $15,000 on furniture here including a bedroom set and a mattress and delivery. The overall quality of the furniture is high, except two issues: 1) The mattress is defective. I’m about a foot deeper than my wife in “high-tech version of memory foam” and no matter how much we flip and rotate this king-sized mattress, it’s simply a failed technology. We called them and said that this was not a good mattress and wanted to return it for a “less experimental” mattress and they refused. They sent someone to the house to apparently “took measurements” of the mattress divots, but we had already rotated the mattress, so the divots on the particular day were less than the 8’’ differential they require to operate with integrity. They sold a bad mattress - they shouldn’t have offered it as a high-end product and it wasn’t tested. Own up to it and remove the defective mattress from your floor and I would have been a customer forever. 2) We paid extra on our entire order for delivery. Keep in mind, we live about a mile from the store in Old Saybrook. The order was ready in three parts. The final delivery was for a bench we bought for the bedroom. Weeks went by - no-call-no-show. I call them to discover that they’ve had the bench and it’s been sitting in their storage waiting for me to pick it up. I explained, “sorry, I actually paid for delivery on all the items as a premium above the normal cost, so what’s a good day to bring the bench by :)”. They refused to honor the delivery obligations I paid for and I eventually picked up the bench myself and vowed never to return. They have some nice furniture, don’t get me wrong, but they have the customer service of a bygone era and don’t meet the standards assumed with the price point.

I just had a lovely experience ordering custom pillows from SH. It was a pleasure working with the staff person, Cheryl. She was extremely knowledgeable and gracious. She took the time to help figure out the most affordable choice, which involved making a fantastic design suggestion I would never have thought of myself. I am looking forward to seeing the finished product!

We bought a living room set from Saybrook Home last year and love it. Our order was pretty unique and they handled the customization beautifully. Say what you will, but blue velvet on a sofa with modern lines is definitely back in. The designers in the store went out of their way for us and when everything arrived it was just the way we wanted it. Thank you.

We have had a lot of difficulty with furniture that we bought at SCB... While the furniture looks good, we feel it is not great quality. We received chairs that were so poorly upholstered with major wrinkles and defects, we really couldn’t believe it! It took a year to settle the problem, return those and have the company try again. Well the second time the chairs were even worse. It was hard to believe that SCB would allow those chairs to leave their store in that condition. We had other issues with the quality of the couches we bought. Bottom line, SCB is not customer friendly when their product is lacking. Basically, their message is we can’t do anything about it. And, I believe that their customer service reps are trained to send that message. They won’t accept any responsibility for poor workmanship. On a positive note, I think the clothing store and the home product dpt are fabulous and the people who work in those dpts couldn’t be any better!! Last word, we spent 8,000 on furniture and the whole process was so unpleasant..... Glad it is over, I could never recommend SCB.

Try to shop locally. Went into Saybrook Home to buy curtains. The salesperson that helped us was extremely helpful. Great Customer service. Found what we wanted. She sent us downstairs to checkout. Person who checked us out was ok. Not overly friendly and not a thank you. She did say have a nice day. I feel Customer service should be better,
