Federico Schiffrin

Worked with Decorist designer Filip Todd. He had three great qualities: attention to detail, responsiveness and pragmatism. His attention to detail was clear in that he understood what we were looking for, what the possibilities and limitations of put space were and then constructing an offering that catered perfectly to what we hoped the end result would be. He was also very responsive and met every deadline, which in design/construction is a rarity. Finally, he was pragmatic, trying to look for the right piece for each part of the space, while trying to stay within budget. If a metric of success is how my wife and kids feel about living in out redecorated space, Filip is the 'architect' of that happiness.

I went with most of her suggestions except when I already had a similar item, or was stuck with something. I'm not finished with the transformation yet, but hope they'll post it. You will be SO glad that you went with Decorist as an option for an online decorator. I have never officially worked with a designer before and was so nervous to try it, especially that it was an online one. I have tried other cheaper online design apps before just for advice and wasn’t super happy. But I knew going into it that Decorist has a happiness guarantee so that made me feel better. I was matched it Casey from HCC designs and she was sooooo communicative and sweet, she didn’t bat an eye at all of my questions or concerns and put my mind at ease. Her style is 100% what I’m looking for and it blew me away that the match was so perfect. Her initial concept came just a couple days after I filled out the questionnaire and it was AMAZING. seriously I don’t know how she does it, but she’s a mind reader. I made a few tweaks for the final design and couldn’t be happier with the outcome. LOVE IT. She used our existing couch and even added a space for my computer which was not an easy feat. After just the initial concept I knew I had to hire her for my bedrooms which she’s working on now and I can’t wait to see the results!

I purchased two elite room designs. I was skeptical of the whole "online interior design" concept before I did, but figured why not give it a try. I am glad I did. Working with Becky Leu (Leu Interiors) was absolutely fantastic. She took my vague concepts for a space she'd never seen in person and transformed them into something I would/will be completely excited to live in. An absolute pleasure (both Leu Interiors and the Decorist platform). If you were hesitant like I was, don't be. While not all online design platforms are created equal (and I can't vouch for any others), this one is fantastic.

Filip not only understood the style I was going for but was incredibly responsive and helpful throughout the entire process. At the end of the design process they make it very simple to purchase the final items coordinating with all of the different vendors. Decorist definitely makes moving easier.

Both the Decorist team and Natalia took the time to understand our needs and helped us accomplish what we wanted for our space. We are very pleased with our designer Rita Schulz and the service provided. She was very active in gathering everything she needed to understand our style. She presented two good options and listened to our feedback so that the final design was just what we wanted. There were a lot of emails back and forth and she was very prompt with her replies. The individual items in the final design are almost all from readily available retailers....Wayfair, Bed, Bath, and Beyond, Crate and Barrel, etc. It was a great experience!

Of course, we had spent the first 8 months of our decision to redo our home dealing with a local interior designer that cost us thousands. After endless frustration we are NOT a "room and board" family, and had a tough time communicating that with her--these two great designers showed us how fast and easy the process could be. More importantly, they made designing our rooms fun again, and we can't thank them enough.

Overall OK results For my living room I selected Natalia Avalos and the results were outstanding- the process was smoother- she is very creative, enthusiastic and empathetic to my needs and although the design is completed she continues to "tweak" the design. Amazing! Amanda was great! My design was not what I consider easy...I did not have a real focus on what I wanted, my taste is very eclectic, I was in a decoration standstill, and I was a little skeptical about the online decorating concept. She took all my information, listened to all my input and gave me tons of feedback. Not only was the final design spot on, but what amazed me the most was how great Manda was at replying to my emails. Awesome experience! It was magical, and so much easier than me trying to rack my brain for how to create that same ambiance.

Overall, I loved working with Decorist! I was matched with designer Casey of HCC designs. She was incredibly responsive to all messages and addressed all my questions promptly. She came up with two design concepts for our casual living room that incorporated our current furniture, space, and new furniture needs very well. We ended up combining elements from both. I was impressed with how well she was able to work within our limited budget even for so many pieces we needed. I especially loved that both my husband and I were pleased with Casey's design! This was one of the big reasons why we chose to work with Decorist--to get help merging both of our styles, and it worked out great! My husband is great at saying yes or no to things, but doesn't initiate ideas himself. That's why it was incredibly helpful to see the concepts and pieces throughout the process and make some tweaks before buying. The one disappointment we encountered was a lamp that ended up not working out. When it arrived and he assembled it, it was very top heavy and wouldn't stand up on its own. I checked the reviews on this piece and all of them said the same thing. I will be returning it, which is a hassle. I wish she had checked the reviews before suggesting this particular item. Overall though we were very pleased and plan to use Casey again!

Erika Dale is without a doubt, the most thorough and effective communicator I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Her communication skills simply blew me away! She listens to every word and responds to each idea in the most thoughtful manner. I have never felt more “listened to” than I have working with Erika. From the first inspiration board she sent us with her thoughts and explanations, I knew she completely understood what I was looking for. We had an amazing experience with designer Amanda Foster. She was so incredible. I wasn't even sure what I myself wanted. Amanda spent time helping me figure that out, by asking questions, creating pinterest boards, and spent the time to understand why I liked certain things and not others. It helped us come up with a beautiful space that incorporated pieces I already owned with new pieces that I loved. I could have never put it together myself and I am so thankful for her. AMAZING. She is an incredible designer who spends so much time making sure that the final product is what you want. I just finished my first room with Decorist and am about to sign up for a second room with the same designer, Emily Johnson. I found Decorist on a home-style blog and fell in love with the featured room. When that particular designer had a wait list which I placed myself on, Decorist emailed me right away to offer any help, and to see if they could help me find another designer with similar aesthetic who was available right away. After looking at the portfolios of the 4 recommended designers, we chose Emily Johnson and we are so glad we did! She was able to work with my husband's and my contrasting styles (mid-century modern and bohemian with a little luxe thrown in!), and bring them together to create an absolutely beautiful living room for us that we both love.....and never would've come up with on our own! She had great communication along the way and sent us options to look at throughout the design process. My initial questionnaire had so many different thoughts and ideas and different directions, and she brought it together beautifully. We even had second thoughts about the rug we chose for the final design concept and she came back and helped us find the perfect replacement. Emily (and Decorist!) really wants to make sure you are completely happy! This service is easy to use and very affordable. It is exactly what we needed and I can't wait to see what Emily comes up with for my 2 year old boy's room!

I worked with Sam Norman on my living room. I bought a house and renovated it. I can't stand to shop for furnishings and have 0 interest in decorating and I am color blind as well. Sam did a nice job in getting me through the process and showing me different concepts. This would have taken me several months on my own and I think from start to finish this took about 7-10 days start to finish. My sister referred my to Decorist and I would recommend it to anyone.

I ended up having her design my entire place, one room after the other. I took time to get the work done and so here I am almost 1.5 years later with a completely done condo. I love every room and how it was put together. She listened to what I wanted the room to feel like and put it in to the design. I didn't even have to tell her what colors I liked. I loved how easy Ellen and Decorist made my bedroom decorating process. Ellen is an expert in style and she was so helpful to correspond with and bounce ideas off of. Ellen is super talented and was super quick at getting back to me. I was so overwhelmed with redoing my bedroom space and had no idea where to begin. Not only did I get a complete bedroom design that was tailored to our style, we got it in a matter of days! I've been staring at the bedroom walls for almost a year unable to make a decision on how to decorate. Decorist and Ellen saved me from my analysis paralysis. Just finished my first project with Decorist and it was such a wonderful experience!! I worked with designer Amanda Foster to complete a make over of my home office which also doubles as a karaoke room:-) Sounds quite challenging, right? But Amanda did an awesome job with the design and also made me feel cared for from the very first message to me. This was my first home decor project so I was a bit lost/intimidated at first. Amanda was very patient and really hand-held me through the entire process. She understood my style quite well and the final design really resonated with me (both functionally and aesthetically). The amazing part is that we only collaborated online via messaging. I admit that I was skeptical before deciding to try Decorist - how can the work be done without ever meeting the designer who doesn't even need to visit your home? Well, it all worked out great:-) Decorist's platform is also easy to use with very intuitive UI, so the whole project took less than 2 weeks!! This was my first time using decorist and I was a little hesitant to try the service, but I’m so glad that I did! I have tried to work with interior designers in the past, and none of them were very successful. They didn’t listen to what you wanted, and you felt like they were just trying to sell you things that you didn’t need or want. When I was first assigned to Tera Hammerly, she immediately asked me what I wanted from the room, what pieces I wanted to keep and what my budget was going to be. I knew right away that this was going to be a different experience. The whole process was simple and I looked forward to getting emails from Tera with her new ideas and suggestions. The floor plan was beautiful and easy to follow. She was responsive to all of my questions, extremely patient, and had many ideas and opinions to help me navigate the world of interior design! I would absolutely use her services again, and that of decorist, and without hesitation, recommend it to others who need help pulling a room together. I am still in the process of ordering her recommendations, but so far everyone that I have dealt with at decorist has been professional and very quick to respond to my many questions. Do not hesitate to use this service and the design skills of Tera Hammerly specifically. She was great!!

Rita has designed two rooms for us over the last few years. Each time, the process was exciting, fun, and the results were impeccable! Each time she manages to incorporate any existing furniture that we wanted to keep and introduce ideas and elements that we would never have even thought of. She even got my husband to wallpaper! She is also very careful with the dimensions, which is really important in a smaller home. She has definitely maximized our space and also handled my 100 questions and comments like a pro.

I read about Decorist on a few design blogs. It was an affordable design option for a room I was at a loss with. You take a simple (almost fun) quiz to determine your design/decor style (if you don't know it) and you're then matched with 1 of their designers. My designer was super responsive and personable -- we connected through their chat feature, which was really easy and convenient. I was presented with 2 design options, gave feedback on the aspects I liked the most of both of those and then was given a final design concept. The shopping list at the end with recommend products was a gift in and of itself. I only wonder if Decorist/Lowe's could leverage their scale and get better prices on the products -- or free shipping at least. Something to think about!

My end design is absolutely terrible and some of the stuff won’t even fit and they added light greys and pink that would never go with my black and white modern scheme. The format is actually very easy. You send pics, dimensions and you give some insight on your tastes and the designer runs with it from there. You are then presented with two concepts and you can choose one or pick elements from both. After completion the provide you with a shopping list of all items used. If you order through their portal, you pay all your shipping costs!! This service is so worth it, it is a cost effective service that allows you to work with a trained designer. Everything was fun and easy, from the intake with Caitlin about my design aesthetic and likes/dislikes, to my initial design comps all the way through to my amazing 3D renderings. Caitlin took the time to truly understand my style and what I was looking for in my "man cave" and offered some great solutions. Her emails were always on schedule and thorough, which made it easy for me to respond and offer feedback. I love working with Decorist! Decorist picked my designer the first time around Caitlin McBride and she was amazing!! I've been working with her since (2 classic designs and 2 accessory refreshes). She reviews your comments and Pinterest boards in great detail. I usually have over 50+ pins and she is able to take what is essentially a brain-dump of ideas and create a defined vision. She is easy to work with and she is always quick to respond. Caitlin always completes my project ahead of schedule, provides the best suggestions, and is always a lot of fun to work with! Decorist is definitely worth it! I feel like I ended up saving money because Caitlin made sure everything stayed within my budget. If it was up to me, I'd probably want a million things, buy things based on sales, and end up getting completely mismatched things. This would have been so painful if I had to do it myself. It's also nice to purchase your items in one click but I don't really use that service because I like to shop and find deals. However, I want to support my designer and make sure she's earning a commission on some of this stuff so I do purchase a few things through Decorist. They always match vendor prices and they take coupons in the comments section upon check out! If you're debating between Decorist and Laurel & Wolf, PICK Decorist!!! Decorist set the bar high and I did not enjoy my experience with L&W. They were not fun, their design page/portal isn't user friendly, and they don't offer 3D rendering for their version of Decorist's "classic".

I'd strongly suggest that clients enter the process with clearly articulated goals for the space, and honestly recognize what's possible & what's unrealistic within the budget- then be open to the designer's suggestions and approaches. Designing is obviously an art, but its also a science of communication that requires receptiveness. For example, I REALLY thought I wanted to change the color of our couch with a slip-cover. I REALLY thought I wanted green paint on our protruding fireplace wall. However, working with Sarah's virtual sketches & designs for the room, brought me to completely different - and MUCH better design solutions for the space that intelligently applied the budget to go farther. I was able to view what I thought I wanted, along with its price - and compare that to how much MORE was possible by approaching the process in line with the budget, using Sarah's very smart and personal designs suggestions. I was absolutely struggling with how to decorate an open plan room - I wanted an updated look that also incorporated several antiques I inherited. She did a great job working them all into the plan, and has been so helpful. She incorporated all my concerns (including worries about pets), and has tried to answer all my questions as soon as she can. Great designer, and a great service! However be aware that once you receive your final plan and the shopping list for it, you will have to buy the majority of the items right away. Due to their connections with on line retail, the items are often more reasonable priced but they sell out very fast. So save up before going through with the process so that you will have enough money to buy things right away!

She worked within my budget and found me exactly the items I wanted! Just searching for the items on my own would have cost me money! Let alone, her expertise to tie everything together! I absolutely love our newly designed guest bedroom that Classic Designer, Emily Lloyd, created for us! She actively involved me in the design process and was incredibly efficient! We are now having her design our dining room and the experience has been equally as smooth thus far. Overall, I'm very satisfied with Decorist and the e-design services they offer.
