I love California Closets!!! This is my 3rd home to put them in! I loved working with Cathy Abbott-Williams. She was very patient while I was trying to make my decision on which wood to choose. Every time I walk into my closet, I marvel at how efficient the space is now after our California Closets makeover. There is no unused space and the workmanship is impeccable. The installer was on time and he took great care to be sure the cabinets were installed properly. You all know this does not happen with ALL installers! Also, the gal we worked with was so very helpful making recommendations we had not even thought of. Our experience with California Closets could not have been better! Thank you for making our life a bit more liveable and organized.

GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! One closet and pantry ($3,000) took 3 ½ months to complete, after the initial installation! Poor communication, little ownership. My project was not a complicated one; rebuild a guest bedroom closet and create a pantry in the kitchen (basically a bookshelf). I called California Closets (CC) because they were the ones who handled the installation in the rest of the house; I wanted the new cabinets to match. I had my first measurement by Pat (senior designer) on 01/14. At that time, we talked about finish, options for the bedroom. We also talked about possibly using a decorative wrap around the pantry, which was not pursued. Pat went back to the office to work up the drawings and pricing. There were issues with the renderings so we talked through them and agreed on the changes. Pat asked to come out for another measurement, just to be sure. That occurred on 02/07. Pat did not have the new drawings completed until 02/25. They were accepted and the 50% deposit was taken on 02/27. The cabinets were due to be installed on 03/22, two months after the initial meeting. The day before the install, Pat called to say that the drawers for the bedroom would not be delivered because they were on back-order. Seemed odd to me since the whole design was custom. Nothing could be done and the only explanation was that the drawers had to be made in Tolleson. The installer started the work on the 22nd, only to discover that the vertical standards were measured incorrectly…even after two measurements. In addition, the back panel to the “bookcase” in the kitchen was not measured correctly. It was too short. A new back panel was ordered and the cabinet rework/repair was completed on 03/28. My card was charged for the balance, even though there was still an issue with three of the kitchen shelves that were to have been drilled for electrical cords. CC sent a technician out on 04/05, the holes were jagged and uneven. New shelves were ordered with holes drilled at the factory that were drilled on the wrong end and again were uneven. Finally, I ended up ordering shelves without holes and figured a way around it. Those arrived at the store on 05/06. Throughout this situation, I didn’t sense any urgency from California Closets. They were responsive in scheduling follow-up appointments for corrections, but seemed to have moved onto other jobs. Everything that had to be reordered, took about two weeks. I spoke with Pat on 04/26 (after the second attempt with the shelves). She acknowledged that this had been a problematic install and said "I can't imagine what you think of me". She told me that she was going to speak with her manager, that he would call and find out what they could do to make things right…perhaps accessories for the bedroom closet. I received that call from the manager. He explained that this rarely happens and that he would personally call me when the next set of shelves came in, but there was no real conversation about how they were going to make things right. He did call when the shelves arrived. End to end; this simple project took 4 ½ months (contract to finish) for what I perceive as a really simple project. I can't conceive of how this would have played out if I were doing a whole house and garage! The only reason I'm giving two stars is because, after all of the issues and back and forth, the end result was good. Perhaps a one-off.

Her creativity and willingness to help us was a breath of fresh air after going through a challenging home remodel. Our only regret was that we didn't contact them sooner, she is amazing!

I have had California Closets for 2 different projects; both bedrooms have custom closets installed and utility closets were installed in my laundry room. From the designer to the installer, they were very professional and polite. Both installations were done when they said they would be and they look terrific. I intend to call upon them again for future remodeling.

Where do I begin. What a disaster. From the beginning, Kimberly (one of their designers) completely failed in designing my kitchen pantry. She was very unprofessional and failed in a proper design. The manager (Janet) did work with me to help redesign my pantry, but they did not follow up on their install to see if everything was to my satisfaction after all the hassle I had been through. After all this, they STILL charged me FULL price. Their second designer (Robin) did a nice job with her redesign, but failed to follow up on the finished product and did not return emails asking for a call back. After much go-round with their manager, I did received a partial discount for my in inconvenience, which is appreciated. But, it was a struggle for her to admit this whole job was a fiasco. I would think twice about using this company - at least get a good designer before you pay their high prices.

The quality of their products, the creativeness in maximizing our space needs and the professionalism and friendliness of their staff were all at the highest level. Our expectations in each case were exceeded.

"I thought Gary was very attentive - he answered our questions quickly - and was very interested in making us happy. We had 2 other estimates and our decision was in large part how Gary handled the proposal process. He encouraged us to come to the shop to see the product in person and this was very helpful in making our decision. The installation was flawless and we have been very happy with our closet.
