This is the slowest emergency room ever. Been waiting for over an hour and there's no one else in the waiting room. You're better off making a appointment with your physician. Poor customer service and dirty facility.

So as soon as I left Mary Washington Hospital no better, but worse after being up all night we, as a last ditch effort, decided to try Stafford Hospital ER which is their sister hospital. Everyone here was kind. I told the doctor what happened or rather didn’t happen he quickly can up with a treatment plan based on my records of what the hospital had done. He did another Phenergan/Benadryl shot IM and 1-pain shot IM and watched me for 20 minutes to make sure there was no reaction and sent us home. We were there like an hour or 2. I knew they couldn’t fix it but he took care of the breakthrough abdominal pain and the nausea meds so we could make it home without me throwing up along the way. I asked for no prescription and that was that. That’s all the other hospital had to do as they were doing tests to try and make me somewhat comfortable. I had Dr. Michael D Amesquita, the RN was Kristy and the EMT student Jeff. He gave all 3 IM shots and did not hurt me even with the Phenergan that burns bad. Hopefully these people will get some recognition for being kind and everything went quick and smooth so we could go. Thanks so much!

I took my wife here after a miscarriage and we used our Tricare insurance (which the hospital accepted). After the hospital forgot to add the results of her blood test to the record, which was necessary to do a follow up for hormone levels to ensure there was nothing left behind that could kill her, they charged our insurance and then billed us illegally for the remainder that they charge people without insurance for. The amount they charge for those without insurance minus the insurance contracted amount is supposed to equal zero! That’s why people pay for insurance. We called our insurance and they verified that we should have never been billed and they are working on the fix as I write this. It seems to be a common problem in the Mary Washington System that you will be billed even if you have insurance. If you receive a bill after your insurance has paid, call your insurance company and tell them that you were billed. They will help you. If you don’t call and get it fixed, the hospital will send the bill to collections and you will end up owing a lot of money! DO NOT USE THE MARY WASHINGTON SYSTEM!

This is our 2nd time here for 2 separate patients. For those who complain about a wait time...that's par for the course when it comes to an emergency room. This one...NOT THAT BAD. You walk in, you fill out a few papers. You're then placed into the computer system. You're called back for initial vitals and voicing of your complaints. Afterward we had about a 30-40 minute wait... and this is what happened for both of our visits. After being called into the triage room we had another short wait... maybe 15 minutes. The doctors come in and they ACTUALLY LISTENED!! No rushing to see you and then only hearing half of what's going on... legitimately caring visits!! The place is clean and the people, both patient and employees, were all really nice/helpful. My 7year old needed blood taken. Not an easy feat. They GOT. IT. DONE... and then gave he and his sister an ice pop for being "good sports." Awesome!! I hope to never come here again, but should I need to seek emergency care this will be my choice. Thank you to the entire facility!!

I live in Stafford and I have diabetes a pace maker and lupus so I've been there quite a few times I use to have a drug problem but I've been clean for almost 5 years now and I get infections easy I started getting these abscesses it started on my legs then my arms then on my head and when I went to Stafford hospital the wait wasn't that long but some of the nurses know me by name and the way she spoke to me and treated me was horrible she pretty much insisted that I was still shooting up and my thought was ok so I'm shooting up in my head too I guess..I'm sorry but no nurse has the right to say something like that based on your past..I did not have staphylococcus or MRSA it was a simple skin infection that I could have got just from not wiping my skin off before I take my insulin..that nurse didn't come back in the room after she made that comment because she was wrong and she knew it..I'd take the extra miles and go somewhere else

i wish i could give zero stars this is the slowest dirtiest place ive ever been .they forget about patients never go in order i waited for 3 hours to be seen and never got seen

To save you the reading time... This place is GARBAGE. Their wait times are super slow. (My experience is below). Been here a few times. Literally came today @ 1111 pm. Didn't get a treatment room till 140 in the am. And then didn't get seen by the nurse 30-35 minutes in. They say they got a new system update, but it's still no excuse because they have been this slow (most definitely slower) way before their new system. A couple came in 10 minutes in and got seen right away... And there was like 2 people behind me... We were already waiting longer than an hour and half. I'm still here and it's 420 am. Who knows how much longer I'll be until I'm out of here

I am from the west coast and took a chance coming here after having an allergic reaction. The staff was friendly, prompt and caring. The doctor was patient and willing to answer my questions. My experience at the Stafford ER was great!
