REVIEWS OF MedStar PromptCare at Alexandria IN Virginia

Kimberly Rienecke

Fast, quality service. I made an appointment online for early in the morning so I wouldn't have to wait long. After filling out paperwork I only waited for 5 minutes. Provider was professional and knowledgeable. Will come back again in the future for other needs!

Jonathan Heinsius

Friendly staff, great doctor. Had to wait for about 45 min to be seen, but expected as much since we did not have an appointment.

Kathryn Condello

Super fast, comprehensive and professional.. I was a new patient this location, and even with all the paperwork, I was in and out in 25 minutes. The MD and staff were articulate, answered all my questions and were friendly to boot! My new, go-to immediate care place! Thanks.

L Rami

Quick. Curteous. Thorough. I was very impressed.

I called a few other urgent cares and none would see children. I took my 6 year old here and had a short wait time. Both the nurse and doctor were very kind to him and we had a prompt diagnosis of strep throat. I would definitely come back.

kurt thomas

very professional!!!!! they listened to what i was saying and did what they were supposed to!!!!

Ivana Vukolic

Kenneth Harris

We are from out of town and my daughter got sick on our visit. I scheduled an appoint online (on a Sunday). We were seen within 15 minutes of our scheduled time. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend MedStar Prompt Care!

Ashley Voyles

Wait over 3 hours??? Absolutely ridiculous. The red headed nurse was extremely scattered and incompetent.

Hector Bird

Quick, friendly service in a nice, clean facility. In and out in about 45 minutes. They weren't too crazy busy, but you can tell they have the process down to move people through as efficiently as possible. I highly recommend it.

Wendy Abuelhawa

I went in for an X-ray and I was seen quickly and everyone was really nice and professional.

Joy Lynch

Receptionist was friendly and helpful. My lobby wait was maybe 15 min. At most. The assistant took me back, took vitals and swabbed my throat. Then took me to a room to wait 5/10 min....it has now been 45 min. I'm listening to people who came in after me be seen and talk about siding, working in the yard and family marriages!!!! Furious. So irritated. If my throat felt okay, I would leave! So after an hour, doctor came in took her vital check, they took another throat culture to send off, and I'm waiting to be discharged. Very disappointed.

Aedam Ecric

Walk in. I waited about 45 minutes to be seen by a nurse/LPN. Vitals and basic information taken then told another 45 minutes due to a system change that day. I wish I would of been told the entire wait was almost two hours. I heard the office secretary advise people after me the wait may be long but assumed it was because several people came in. The place is very well staffed I've seen a litany of workers sitting and taking information.

Michael Stemle

They overcharge and won't refund, gonna have to fight them. They frequently only have long wait times. This sucks.

Yoko Ryder

I went there today and very lucky not many patients. Dr and the stuff were very nice and clean office. They provided free masks for patients with contagious illnesses !

Christopher Ros

I am very happy that we have this right in the Bradley Center. Every time I have gone the service has been efficient and the diagnosis sound. Links immediately with our pharmacy. Entire process this morning was just under 45 minites.

In so many ways it's disappointing. To non medical humans the term prompt care implies quick care across a spectrum of possible medical services without the hassle of having to arrange appointments, time off from work, school to get the care you need. No. you don't get that here. This is a sniffles clinic. Don't have the sniffles? Sorry, they say, after they've collected you're copay, but we can't help and won't prescribe you a medicine... or a referral bc all we do is sniffles, banged toes, -and band aids with teddy bears.

I went in for an employment physical. The wait was around 30 minutes, not too bad. The receptionist had a bad attitude, not professional at all, loudly discusses your reason for coming and payment around other people. Clearly, HIPAA isn't respected here judging by other reviews confirming my experience. I got in the room, the Dr said she can't do work conditioning physicals. She also had an "I dont want to be here" attitude, but she said she wouldn't bill me for the 2 minutes I was in there so I was annoyed but relieved. Suddenly OVER 8 MONTHS LATER, I get a $65 bill. I spent 25 minutes on the phone, and the woman said she would call to get the charge removed. The customer service at MedStar billing was great. The fact that I got a random charge for a service not performed was bad. So many people would just pay the charge thinking it was correct. I wonder how much fraudulent billing goes on here. I don't think I'll go back there. GIMG Urgent Care in Ballston is so much better, even though MedStar office is 3 minutes from my house. Go to GIMG instead.

I was dropped off here after a bicycle accident. After waiting 30 mins a doctor noticed me holding an ice pack to my temple and must have realized that my condition might be more serious so I got to cut in line. They have a computer screen to tell you the estimated wait and mine was 1hr 20-1hr 30 min. After glancing at my wound they told me to go to the ER. They didn't even stitch me up, but did clean and put a couple band-aids on my smaller cuts. I was charged $130 for this. The doctor was very polite and caring and told me I needed to go to the hospital in case I had a serious head injury. They obviously don't have the equipment and time for those kind of tests at Urgent care. If you are going to any urgent care, you should call ahead to make sure they can treat the particular problem the person has. Otherwise you will be paying twice and be delayed in getting treatment. I'm not sure if my experience would have been different at another urgent care facility, but it might have been better handled on arrival or during check-in (when you fill out and return forms). I would not bring a family member or friend to MedStar PromptCare at Alexandria.

Nancy Meehan

I was nervous to visit after reading reviews for this location, however, I was received at the front desk professionally and escorted back to the doctor's office within 10 minutes. The Doctor and nurses were very knowledgeable and proactive in my diagnosis and recovery path.

Katie Treichel

Absolutely LOVE Dr. Adams!!! Best primary care physician I have ever had. Spends all the time needed with you, hears all of your concerns, and comes up with a plan of action for those concerns. Absolutely nice and wonderful and nice staff, sometimes they are behind based on the previous appointments but I feel like that doesn't matter if you are in good care. I don't plan on going anywhere else, 100% recommend!

Helenna Cunha

Took a little while to be called but the staff was amazing, respectful and friendly, the clinic is very organized, well maintained and most importantly it is clean! The location is great for go to bus or car. If I need in the future I will be back and of course I recommend to my friends.

Matthew Lockwood

Needs more manpower. There are at least 6 patients in line right now, and even after setting up an arrival time online, waited almost an hour in the waiting room. Definitely not the first time I've experienced this at the same place.

corey berry

Very disheartened by the policy of this urgent care. My young niece was very sick and needed to see a doctor. I live out of state and suggested she go to the nearest urgent care with her insurance card. She was advised of the copay and attempted to pay with a debit card of a family member who helps her since she doesn’t have her own yet. They would not take the card because the card has to match the name of the patient. I called, pleading with them to take my card payment over the phone. But, I was refused. They would not even bill me. I understand policies but when someone is sick and in need of medical attention, exceptions should be made. I think it is cruel and unecessary to turn patients away for these reasons. We should all be there to help those in need. This place does not. Very disappointed!

I walked right in and was seen in less than 10 minutes. Courteous and friendly staff.

The staff here is so nice!! The place is efficient too! We’ve been several times in the last year and the staff and doctors couldn’t be nicer. When my daughter was in loads of pain they treated her gently and quickly and with such empathy! Highly recommend!

Colin Burns

There is nothing "urgent" about this place. As for "care", they couldn't care less - rude, unhelpful, disinterested staff at the front desk. If you need anything other than a band-aid and don't mind waiting 2 hours to get it, go someplace else.

azeb hailu

This place has an unbelievable wait time. The online website doesn't actually get you appointments except a "estimate" of when your time is which is off by at least an hour and 30 minutes. They have a nice large facility but always seem to be operating with 1 doctor which makes horrible customer service. I came here once and 5 people cancelled.

Kate Swanky

I was seen promptly and treated courteously by the administrative staff and the doctor. The admin helped me by printing out my insurance card and also a list of my plan benefits that I could take with me, since my plan was new to me; he offered to do all that unprompted, so I really felt taken care of at a time when I wasn't feeling well. Okay, enough with the puns, just saying I appreciated this clinic.

Fast smooth process. Made appointment online. Very professional.

Dee Vanhook

Quick service and you can schedule online before going.

Sarah Savoie

Jessica Robbert

I waited more then 45 minutes in the waiting room and it was completely empty

Alyssa Tier

Probably not worth the time. Staff was patient and listened well but weren’t helpful. Charged me $550 to give no answers and just told me to follow up with my regular doctor.

This Is the worest place I ever Been I went To fill better but the only service I got Was Headache don’t go to urgent care the only clinic I know Who have two doctors with two different mouth.....their number one priority is your Money not your health

Luis Moncada

Absolutely prompt, friendly, caring and amazing. I am really glad I went there and will certainly go back there again if need be.

Tim Gribben

I experienced a foot injury and picked them from google because they could do an X-ray on-site. I scheduled a walk-in reservation through their site. Everyone I interacted with was professional and friendly. The offices were clean and well maintained. They took my insurance so I only had to pay the Co-pay. I would recommend them to my family and friends.

Deniz Turkmen

Had painful throat for few days, and I did not want to wait for an appointment. I took a chance on a Monday morning as a walk-in, and good thing I did. It was not crowded, I did not wait long. They collected a swab sample, and detected strep, prescribed me antibiotics among other things within 20-30 minutes. It was fast and efficient.

Allison Goldschmidt

Quick care, very friendly. Reserve a spot online to avoid a wait!

Cristina Leckie

Prompt, excellent, friendly attention by Dr. Tariq and staff.

Corinne Irwin

We’ve used this PromptCare location a few times. They consistently see us at or before the estimated wait time, and the staff is professional, efficient, and friendly.

Photo Man DC

First experience with MedStar, and was thrilled. They were fast, efficient and made it a terrific first visit. They even called 2 days later to check on me. My primary care physician (that I've been seeing for 10 years) doesn't even do that. I was hesitant that it would be crowded and a long wait. It was not crowded and they were quick to get me in to see a doctor and write prescriptions. They even sent them electronically to my neighborhood Walgreen's, where they were waiting for me when I got there. I would definitely recommend them, and will be using their services again.

Colleen Ostrander

Lyn Allen

Staff and doctor were all great!!! The wait with an appointment once given a room is way too long!

Shane Weeks

Was given a serious attitude by one of the counter receptionists when I informed her that I didn't have insurance. "Well that's gonna be $199 just to get looked at" Made me feel like crap, so I left.

Lynda Y. Rudd

"Urgent Care" with a 3 hour wait? Walked in, empty facility, thought it would be fast with flu and fever. Told to sign in. Another person came in and was told the wait was 3hrs. No one told me this. Apparently, "urgent" is not first come first serve "walk-in care" but whoever schedules online by appointment first. Big waiting room is for sick people who cannot be seen. The expectation is that if you are truly sick you will go to the ER. This must be in place of a GP for people who do not have one. Back to Minute Clinic. Certain ones turn off the online reservation. They understand what it takes for an anxious sick patient to drive themselves for health care.

Santosh sharmasubedi

Well still waiting at the room, had an appointment at 830 and it's 1030. What's the purpose of appointment if I am still waiting here for two hours. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone and def not coming here again. And stop replying on this like a robot as if you care

Yoony Doh

I went into the URGENT care for severe migraines (key word being "urgent"). I checked into the electronic check-in system, which said the wait would be 1.5 hours. So I left and came back a little before 1.5 hours later when the system texted me. Upon arrival, I waited in waiting room for about 25 min before I got called back. I was quickly examined by a tech, then I proceeded to wait another hour, yes, HOUR in the examination room before I was seen by the doctor. After all this was over, and I was prescribed a medicine they claimed they sent electronically to the Rite Aid next door, only to find out that it was NOT sent, which then forced me to walk back (while still in pain from my migraines) to get a physical, written prescription to then walk back to Rite Aid. At this point, I kindly and calmy asked the receptionist if they refunded co-pays for poor service to qhich she quipped back that 'even with a refund, they'd end up billing me again since I received the care.' She seemed to completely miss the point that the service I in fact "received" was "terrible". Please save yourself and do not go to this Urgent Care. People in pain and in need of care deserve better, they really do.

Lisa Ricks

I walked right in and was seen in less than 10 minutes. Place is clean. Dr. was compassionate.

Nicholas DeGaetani

This clinic is like going to a fast food restaurant. Pretty bad customer service at the front desk, rushed nurse practitioners and physician assistants, and low quality service. Great for being seen quickly. Not preferred over primary care physician.

Daniela Lazcano

Went in at 11 to this "urgent care" I was told the wait was 2 hrs. I said fine, cause they would text me 20 min prior telling me to come in. I was suppose to go back at 1:30. At 1 I get a ext saying they're 45 min behind. So now I can't go in until 2:10. Now it is 1:40, and I got another text saying they're 66 min behind, and now don't come in until 3:15. I have literally been waiting all day to be seen by a doctor. I have flue like symptoms, and wanted to be seen right away since I was shaking from fever. This is the worst urgent care I've ever been to.

Sabrina Iacaruso

I was initially turned off by MedStar's network of urgent Care facilities because I couldn't make an appointment for the Cap Hill location online or over the phone. (Nobody answered when I called) My insurance carrier, Cigna Open Access, listed the MedStar offices and a just a few more near me, so I chose the Alexandria location. I arrived 20 minutes early and filled out the necessary paperwork. The gentlemen at the front desk was pleasant and even told me I may have to go to another location because they didn't have a x-ray machine or tech after reading my reason for the visit (back pain). The nurse who took my vitals was also pleasant and saw me around my appointment time of 7:30. I was led to another room to wait for the Dr, which probably took another 10 minutes. Dr. Bhogal had a great bedside manner and listened to me patiently. After some initial visual exams and questions, he suggested I go to the ER because I need some blood work and to rule out anything serious. All in all, it was a great experience and I highly recommend this office if you need to be seen ASAP.

Amanda Barber

One star is not due the care I received there. Very friendly, quick in and out time, the NP I saw was outstanding. However, the facility uses a charge that some insurance companies view as an "emergency room" charge. After speaking with the front desk, I was told that they were unwilling to amend the charge, and obviously my insurance has a set copay for set charges, so there you go. If this can happen to me, someone who is relatively fluent in insurance jargin, I shudder to think of whats happening to the more vulnerable populations. This is not an uncommon practice among the ever growing number of urgent cares. If they are affiliated with a hospital (Medstar) and offer a high level of care, then they feel that they should be able to charge as an emergency facility, despite insurance companies cost saving campaign for urgent care in lieu of emergency rooms. So regardless, the consumer is on the losing side. **Steps off of soapbox** So to sum up, great care, and if you have a low copay for ER visits, you should go, but please don't be deceived by the Urgent Care facade.

Bonnie Schultz

I had an excellent experience! Nebi at the front desk met me with a smile, worked to insure I was seen promptly and was very kind as well as professional. I was taken good care of by the rest of the staff also. Highly recommend!

Sallie Brown

There were quite s few ahead of me. And I did not have to wait long. The Dr. was very nice and efficient too! In s d out in 45 min. For a moderate crowd that is amazing, especially since I got there right after opening.

Andrea Pimm

I called in to check on insurance before I went in so there’s no surprises. They took me in quickly and very efficiently. It’s clean and easy to get to. I was done within 35 minutes. They were very nice and answered all my questions. It’s nice to be able to get minor health problems taken care of without having to go through setting up appointment and getting the right doctor for something so minor.

Jeannie White

Kind, efficient and professional.

Thomas Alexander

Doctor was extremely caring and listened to me! Prescription was electronic to the rite aid next door!

UPDATE: Thanks to the support staf, I went back to the clinic in the afternoon to see Dr. Brodniak. This is the same physician I saw in 2016, and again what an amazing experience. He listens, he cares, and he does all the right things to make sure his patients get the care they deserve. Thank you so much Dr. Brodniak for your compassion and amazing ethics as a healthcare professional! My prior experience at this facility in 2016 was amazing, which is why I went back today. The front staff (gentlemen) very courteous, kind and helpful. The nurse that did my pre op today was also very nice. However; the provider I saw today left a lot to be desired: 1. Zero people skills. 2. No introduction as to who she was. 3. Zero listening skills. 4. Zero compassion for the patient. I am a healthcare professional myself and the experience today left me feeling like my time and reason for coming in was a waste of time and money. When I commented to the gentlemen at front desk about my experience he said the provider wanted to speak to me. I told him there was no point, she doesn’t listen or Care!!!

D Fitz

The care was fine, the facility was clean and the wait was about what I expected. They claimed they accepted my insurance, however my insurance does not accept them. As such I ended up being responsible for the entire bill of nearly 250.00 for a 10 minute visit. They sent the labs off to Lab Corp without talking to me or my insurance. Labcorp charged 460.00 for a lab test that no other lab that I have talked to would charge more than 200.00 for the same test. The rapid lab in the area claims they provide the fastest results and they charge 220.00 for the same test. The average cost of the test was 99.00. My insurance paid 66.00 and I was stuck with the remainder. Labcorp is famous for ripping people off with overpriced lab tests, its the provider that chooses not to care about their patients and use labcorp.

Jessica Matthews

Was seen by a NP with a terrible bedside manner, Twila Iten. Needless to say I will be following up with a doctor as I am not confident in her diagnosis or instruction. Don't recommend her as a provider to anyone. It is always hit or miss at this clinic when I have been. Front desk staff is fantastic.

M Richardson

Just arrived, I immediately give the receptionist MY Medstar Ins card and Drivers License. SHE CALLS ME BK TO THE DESK TO TELL ME SHE DOESNT NEED BECAUSE I'm in the system. I rtn to my seat and she calls me bk to the desk and bedore I could rtn fast enough she yelled out aloud in ont of other patient's that u have Maryland Medicaid RIGHT?!? At this point I'm LIVID and of course she acts as if NOTHING just happen. I ask for a manager she she said there is not one available. This receptionist name is Belkys. I should have known before coming here that the previous reviews were REAL. Will be following up with another review once I complete this visit.

MotherPat

This was my second time there the only thing that I could say was disappointing there was over a hour and a half wait because there was only one doctor Saturday. I like the service and the bed side manner of the employees so I will come again.

Antwon Jones

Hilary Sullivan

Horrible customer service at the check in and continued thru triage. Thankfully the Dr I saw was nice and engaging. You'd think when dealing with sick people they'd be more compassionate and warm.

Lauren Thompson

Absolutely ridiculous. I was diagnosed with an ear infection and sinus infection and after a week of taking medication I wasn't feeling any better and I asked if I could be prescribed something else for it they refused to call in or suggest anything without me booking another appointment. Scam! My insurance has no copay but they force you to pay $25 as its medstars policy.

Amirah Lane

Really nice and fast staff.

Phil Saims

The 15 minute visit that starts at $139 ended at $199. That didn't include anything. Breath in breath out. I would look somewhere else for your next visit.

Ben Sherman

It appears that “James” promise pass along the multiple complaints of rude staff, failure to follow privacy regulations, and excessively long waits, has fallen on deaf ears. If MedStar wishes to establish itself as the go to health service in region it needs to step up and improve its quality of staff and support for their staff in delivering promised urgent care services. No wonder Minute Clinics are becoming a preferred choice.

Nateé Johnson

How do you make someone wait an hour and a half in pain to then let them know you're unable to treat them based on what was written on the intake forms? Unacceptable.

Melissa Hicks

On 11/6/2017, I became ill while away from home. I was dehydrated & not feeling well & searched for the closest urgent care I could find, which was MedStar Prompt Care in Alexandria. I called and asked what the charge was for a visit and was told $216. I asked very specifically what that included & was told that if there was anything recommended that was not included that I would be notified ahead of time so I could give INFORMED CONSENT. I pressed that issue to be sure & was told firmly that the charge was $216. I went in for an appointment, filled in the paperwork by about 11:30 am. I had to wait until after 2:30 pm to be taken back (all the while, waiting in my car & dehydrated). Finally, after getting a prescription for nausea so I could get myself rehydrated, I was forced to sign an "Against Medical Advice" because I declined a trip to the Emergency Room & I went out to the reception desk & paid the bill of $216 & left. Today, 11/27/2017, I just received a bill from "MedStar Physicians Billing Services" for $114 for the services of the Nurse Practioner (I was not seen by a physician). I really want to know how, after I asked specific questions & received specific answers & reassurances that this could possibly be correct. I'll be checking into it when the various offices open tomorrow. All I can say to you is: be careful! I just don't understand what is going on with the medical professional in the 21st Century. If you want to treat it like a business, fine. But you don't have the right to charge customers anything you want after the fact. What has been done here is either an error they will fix or fraud when I specifically asked what the charges would be & was not properly informed before services were rendered. No other business would get away with it, period. UPDATE: I spoke with MedStar Physicians Billing Services on Tue 11/28 & was told they would email the office administrator to get the charge removed & to check back on Fri 12/1. When checking back with billing (after an odd situation where the original rep answered the phone, the line dropped after I identified myself & she was "away from her desk" when I called immediately back), I found no notes were made on my account about this situation. A new rep assisted me & she said she would email the administrator & call me back. Amazingly, she did follow thru & the admin emailed her back directly. She called me back & told me the charge was removed ("an incorrect billing code" was used). I am grateful this was taken care of, but this was unnecessary & stress I did not need. However, this still should not have happened & it happens far to much overall! First: if I, as a patient, am supposed to have confidence in a medical provider, that expectation of competency extends to the business side as well. When the business side is not being run properly, I have doubts about the medical service management as well. If your medical staff is properly trained & held accountable, so should the office staff! Second, I am cynical enough to suspect that the reason this is to common is because patients to often do not question charges like this and/or the bills are paid by an insurance company. Third, if you do not want government regulations (because the public will eventually get fed up with this situation), then find a way to manage billing properly.

Aleck Johnson

More than a 90 minute wait, with only one other patient there ahead of me, for an exam from a PN that was perfunctory at best (maybe 2 minutes from the time the PN walked in until the PN walked out). After waiting another 10 minutes, I got my prescriptions only to discover that one of the scripts required the PN to call my insurer and justify the medication sought (something that should have popped up when they prescribed it!) When I called back, Medstar put me on hold for 10 minutes, then said the PN would call me back eventually. Given that there were a half dozen staff sitting around chatting in the back offices -- pretty clearly not working! -- the issue would appear to be lousy management rather than understaffing. Incredibly disappointed, esp. since my previous experience here was (while not great) not completely underwhelming.

A. Albositan

Waiting for too long.

Ian Fraser
