The reception staff is nice. The doctors are too young and inexperienced. I'm a layperson, and some of the medically inaccurate information and advice that I've received from Dr. Latreille would be potentially harmful to a patient who doesn't research his own care. This guy is going to kill someone.
I was going to hold up until I spoke with him before writing the rest of this. That has now happened. Issues with guy started when he wrote a prescription for the incorrect date to be filled. This turned my travel plans for the holidays completely upside down. When problems arose, instead of taking responsibility, he blamed me, the patient for the problem.
Next, he claims over the phone to have spoken to my original prescriber, who claims to have never received a call from him. It turns out, he called a different, seemingly random MD, collected his advice and apparently just went with it. I told him, twice, that this person was not the original prescriber, which seemed to only make my situation worse.
The best part, when I started explaining the situation to him and the mistakes that he himself had made, he says "Cut to the chase". His mistakes were unimportant apparently, but mine were worth potentially my life.
I said I needed a primary care doctor as soon as possible. I didn't know that this entitled me to the fast food version of modern medicine. Part of being a doctor is constantly pursuing new training to ensure that they provide their patients with the highest quality of care. This guy was unaware of information regarding medications that he prescribed, that was almost a decade old and near-common knowledge in the medical community.
I know full-well that I'm going to face retaliation from this guy, but I'd rather deal with it myself and have whoever reads this be spared then allow him to treat the practice of medicine with such a non-chalant attitude. I challenge both him and the staff of UVM Medical to disprove any of my statements.
If the patient advocacy reports didn't get received, collated and burned, I would have pursued that avenue.
