Horrible experience with anesthesia. Will never go to Gifford again for any surgical procedure.. My experience:after posting that all went well with my strabismus surgery on the 20thof September 2017, I started hallucinating about thirty minutes later. I would call them violent hallucinations. I was scared to death. I saw picture of people moving all over the screen in color when I closed both eyes. I saw violent pictures pass very quickly It is called CEV Closed Eye Visualization by google. It was terrifying!!. I couldn't sleep for 34 hours until I guess I finally passed out. I was afraid to close my eyes because it would start up again. I still get occasional incidents, but only for about ten minutes. I believe it is from the anesthesia. It was the worst experience in my life. I have never had side effect from my numerous surgeries under a general. I put in a call for the anesthesiologist, , but have not heard from him. His name is Dr. Chris Rohan. . I need answers, and I should not have to put up with the run around I am receiving. It is apparent that my husband I will have to go to the hospital and confront the anesthesiologist who did my surgery. and get some answers. Today 10/9/2017, I called Medical Records and I was told I will receive both my OP Report and Anesthesia Report tomorrow before I see the surgeon for a post op exam. I still have not received a report of the medications in the IV. Today 10/16/2017 I received what Dr. Rohan calls his report several days ago.. It is not an official report and is absolutely impossible to read. I have asked that Dr. Rohan sit down and talk with my husband and myself along with an Admin representative. He absolutely refuses to make any contact with us. My surgeon agrees with me and feels he would be an advocate for that suggestion. Admin is trying to help me now, but they are having no success!! I finally did receive what he calls an Anesthesia report, but it is only Dr. Rohan's personal notes, and it is impossible to read. I guess this will lead to further action and as my surgeon says there must be an investigation into my reaction to the anesthesia I was given. October 8, 2016 Administration finally got Dr. Rohan to give me a clear typed report of medications he used for my surgery. He signed and dated it. I would highly recommend that you ensure that you do not have Dr. Rohan if you are going to have surgery at Gifford. Any doctor that refuses to talk to a patient and the patient's family about the experience I had is not to be trusted. This case is not finished, and won't be until we return from Florida in May.

Since I was a kid, my entire family did business at this hospital, but about 10 years ago something changed. The attitude there now seems to be that patients are just a bother. On my last visit, I was made to feel like I was bothering the doctor because I have 3 hernias and wanted to have them repaired. There are still some nice people who care that work there, and I hope the tide will turn, but until then, I've stopped going there. When the entire staff begins to see their patents as human beings instead of a nuisance, I may go back, but not until then.

Gifford's birthing center is second to none. Every member of the staff - nurses, midwives, and even those serving the food - is knowledgeable, skilled, and kind. The hospital is a wonderful asset to the Randolph community.

⭐️Folks come from miles around to deliver their babies in the birthing center. It is absolutely top notch. ⭐️And no one could have cared more for my mother during her last month. ⭐️The townspeople stop by the cafeteria for lunch: the food is that good. ⭐️And if you're really bad off, they haul you to Dartmouth Hitchcock. ⭐️The fifth star is for ample parking.
