REVIEWS OF Davis Hospital and Medical Center IN Utah

My father was in the ICU for approximately 3 weeks. Honestly, the staff on the ICU floor was so kind and compassionate. We had so many exceptional nurses, respiratory, therapy, case managers and doctors. I wish to thank each and everyone of them who cared for my father like he was family. Rachel with case management made sure all my families needs were met; we needed her so much at that hard time. My father is now recovered and doing amazing. Thank you all for saving his life. Love, prayers and compassion are the road to recovery. You are all amazing. Special appreciation to Erica-"angel nurse" and Veronica "Light in a darkness".

I was incredibly impressed with our experience at Davis Hospital. We were going through an extremely difficult situation, and everybody went above and beyond taking care of me and comforting me. I felt like I was treated like family, and am extremely thankful for the amazing people at this hospital.

Nightmare! The people are nice but mostly incompetent. Billing can't get a thing they do right and it's outsourced to 2 different places Iv'e had to deal with so far. They have billed incorrectly multiple times for one simple ultrasound. 8 months later we're still trying to resolve a $300 bill that should be covered by 3 insurances, but Davis billing can't get it right. They don't care that they make mistakes over and over again, they want the patient to bare the burden of their incompetence. So glad another hospital is opening nearby!

Wife had baby delivered here. Great experience. Would recommend to others and will come back if we have another baby for sure. Three other hospitals are closer to where we live, but we initially chose Davis due to insurance, but we will be coming back here regardless of what our future insurance is.

Terrible, I would recommend making the drive to McKay Dee or the University of Utah. I was seen at the ER because I was unable to breathe without experiencing excruciating pain in my back and chest. I was seen at the ER and they just gave me pain medications, which helped somewhat. I followed up with my primary doctor the following week and he actually examined me and told me that my lungs were inflamed and that i needed to be put on antibiotics. I told him what the ER had done, and he told me that they do that A LOT and he said for future issues, to go to another hospital. I have not let them care for me since, and don't plan too. Recently, I had a family member that was admitted to the hospital through the ER and let me tell you, their care team at this hospital NEEDS WORK! They are some of the rudest people I have met. Not only were they mean to their patient, but had rude comments towards me. There were a few evening nurses that were sweet as pie and a lovely surgeon, however the rest were absolutely awful!! I work in healthcare and I could never imagine treating my patients the way they do (I probably wouldn't have a job if I did). While I was in the waiting room, I was in there for about an 1.5 hours, there was a family waiting on xray results. they were there long before I was and there when I left. The mother told me that this is a regular thing with Davis, waiting for 4 hours just for them to check xrays. I would recommend to stay away from this location if at all possible. Unless you have thick skin for rude, nasty comments and are okay being ignored for hours at a time. Davis Hospital and their staff need to realize no one WANTS to be there, not only is it stressful enough to have health concerns, but paying for their visit here is a huge stress-ball in itself, their rude, unfriendly staff does not help.

This is gonna be a long review, but I feel this place deserves it. I have had some great experiences here as the family member of patients, as well as even a student. I feel like this place gets a bad rap, but I've had good experiences. I had a family member who was successfully and quickly diagnosed with cholecystitis (gallbladder, abdominal pain). They were there for only a couple of hours before finding the problem and getting them set up with follow up appointment resources. I had another family member who had a massive heart attack and unwitnessed collapse. While I am a firm believer that the hero that started CPR on the street was the difference, this hospital was quick to act, got him in the ICU, and he left the same person he had always been five days later - after a massive MI. They were a huge part of his recovery process. I had a friend who was taken great care of during cancer treatments and were quick to run necessary tests and were responsive to needs. I still remember sitting in the room with this patient, the doc walking in, taking note of the newest concerns, and quickly ordering the necessary scans to find the cause of these new complaints, and I'm sure he was a very busy doc. As a student, I've continued to have great experiences. Davis Hospital was kind enough to let me shadow their ER for a couple of hours as I went through my Advanced EMT course. They were open to letting me learn things, such as placing IVs on patients, but they always made sure their patients were safe first. Their education center is great. I have had difficulties finding American Heart Association courses at a decent price, as well as finding a class that isn't immediately within the next week. All I had to do was call the education center, they let me join their AHA class that was happening in a month (so I had time to make arrangements to actually go!) and all of the instructors and staff were very pleasant to work with. I've had a hard time finding pleasant hospital staff that are willing to take in students from other organizations to learn and get their certs. They charge the standard $100 for a recertification class (compared to many other organizations that charge $300 for the same exact class through the same exact organization.) What a great great experience. Does Davis have their shortcomings? Sure. But every hospital does. And I would feel comfortable coming here for treatment myself. I've already decided that the next time I'm taking an AHA course I'll be coming here to do it because I don't have to fight with higher ups, instructors, or even my wallet to do my certs. TL:DR; great place, great staff, great culture. Not always perfect but I have had several good experiences here.

Smaller hospital with friendly staff if you need pampering.

Glad Dr. Andrews (I think that’s his name... Wasn’t fully paying attention. Might’ve been Anderson) left. Got a wart removed and pain was unacceptable. Had to use crutches for two weeks (the wart was on my toe) and got a blood blister that hurt when it was even lightly touched. The doc used a needle that was way bigger than necessary and kept the freezing thing on my toe for about two minutes. Other than their care for warts this hospital is amazing and I’m impressed, just don’t get your warts removed here.

Great patient service, facility and doctors

I’ll give 2 stars because the team when I moved into recovery was amazing. I delivered my 3rd child here and was very nervous and hesitant as my other 2 were delivered at McKay Dee and it was perfect. From the moment I got checked in to have my baby at Davis it was a nightmare. My nurse clearly needed glasses, why she was not wearing any was beyond me. She kept entering the wrong information on the computer and couldn’t read my band. She kept getting the information wrong so I had to read it to her. She kept me on my back. On. My. Back. Everyone who’s had kids knows you don’t lay down and stay on your back. Your body cannot progress. I was in tears from the pain and being so uncomfortable yet she wouldn’t let me move or was snappy when I did and made me go back to my back. My body wasn’t progressing so I opted for the epidural. The moment I sat up for the epidural I went to a 7, I explained how I just needed to move or even sit up. She declined so we proceeded with the epidural. After having my baby, they said they would transfer me in about 30-45 minutes. We waited, no one came. 3 hours later still in the delivery room I told my fiancé my legs were so numb I couldn’t move and that my chest was hurting and felt like I had a thousand pounds on it. I called the nurse in and told them I think they left my epidural in and on. She said no no they are supposed to immediately remove it. When she looked she started apologizing like crazy and informed me that it was still on, 3 hours later just pumping into me. I couldn’t even hold my daughter my body was so numb. My back gets numb and cold ever since, I will definitely be looking into this and do not recommend giving birth here. Ridiculous I now have to pay them for what I went through.

Both of our children were born at Davis Hospital and we couldn't have been happier with the entire experience. They took great care of my wife and children and had nice delivery and recovery areas. The nurses were, for the most part, great with the kids. Billing was pretty straightforward and they gave us a discount for paying before my wife was discharged. What more can you ask for?

Alyssa Hartmann

I was just at the Davis Hospital for surgery. The nurses were so nice and ready to help as soon as you needed something. I felt like I was their only patient (although there were many patients there) and that made me relaxed about the surgery. The only complaint I have is the outpatient surgery waiting room and the surgery prep rooms you wait in before you go into surgery were dirty! There were holes in the sheets, the floors hadn't been swept or mopped in a long time, it appeared, and there was dust on the medical equipment. I know it's a busy place but I'm sure the rooms can be cleaned in the evening when all the surgeries have finished up. It's not comforting to someone who has never been there before. Makes you wonder what the surgery rooms look like. My recovery room was clean and private, so that was great! But, I am so happy with my experience there. The staff makes Davis Hospital a great and comforting place. And the most important thing... my doctor is amazing!

I had to take my son to the ER this past week, for a high fever. My wife and I recorded 104.2 degrees before we made the decision to take him in. The nurse told us he had a slight fever of 101 degrees. confused, we continued to the main doctor, who gave him some Zofran to help him to not throw up. They told us to give him Tylenol to cut the slight fever.. We noted to the doctor a rash that our son had had for almost a week. He looked at it briefly, and brushed it off. They said they were unable to find any reason for my sons fever and condition and told us to come back if we had any more issues. Frustrated with the service, I insisted they take my sons temperature again, which then they finally realized that he had a fever of 104 degrees. They gave him Ibuprofin and said thats all they could do; and sent us home. Skeptical of our service, my wife scheduled an appointment with our doctor the following morning, who instantly diagnosed our son with Scarlet Fever, and prescribed antibiotics for him. He expressed how disappointed he was that those at the hospital couldn't figure this out, and that they didn't do much to help us. I have called the hospital to dispute our service, and to be compensated for the failed ER visit, and have not received communication back. I am extremely frustrated with this hospital, and the care we received, but feel very blessed for the wonderful doctor who helped us because Davis Hospital has no clue what they are doing!

Worst experience I've ever had in a hospital. I got left in a room for over 2 hours waiting on pain medication. The rooms had no call buttons and no one checked on me. I finally had to unhook my wires and carry my i. V. out and my nurse said she would be right in. 40 minutes later I got up and walked out. No one even looked my direction.

i WILL NEVER USE Davis Hospital AGAIN they will not work with you on your Bill, all the hospital cares about is the money and how much they can drain out of you. When you have Multiple bills with Doctors, ER, Ogden Regional Hospital has done everything they could to work with me on paying them off. I can see why people call Davis Hospital the death hospital. the only reason for even giving them 1 star is so I can post this. After reading some of the reviews I see more 1stars then anything else, Sure glade I am not the only person to dislike the hospital. You would think they would try to get the reviews and rating up.

Eric Piper

They took care of me and gave me a referral to a cardiologist

Russell Walter

The care received was actually very good, its the insurance billing that fails. I presented (have wife as witness) my insurance information, I've had the same policy for 6 years at the same address. I received a bill for the hospital but nothing for the contracted physician. BTW Davis also sent me a bill without ever billing my insurance 1st, rather shady practice when viewed from the outside. I never received a bill for the 2nd provider and was sent to collections. The collections person verified they had the wrong addresses. I called the physician's company and provided my insurance information. I checked my insurance and claim was paid in 2 weeks. In this day and age billing insurance should be easier than ever, not a hand holding process where the customer has to chase things down. Update: I appreciate the owner's response and for paying attention to reviews, this will only help Davis get better. I would call the Patient Advocate but the insurance and physician are already paid.

Keri Christensen

Had a CT scan, showed up 30 minutes early as they told me to check in with registration. Their registration process and procedures are so convoluted they made me late to the appointment. Mind you I had to drink contrast for the CT. Would not get service from this hospital if possible, keep driving to the next hospital. The new management/owner is no better than all the other clowns before them. This hospital is making it easy for IHC to crush them when they open their Layton Parkway hospital.

Aaron Kohler

Really enjoyed fountain in lobby and the front desk lady was incredibly nice. Great service! Wish I could’ve been born here

Marilyn Ostrowski

I was recently here with my roommate and they didnt listen to her at all they gave her 3 options to treat her problem and she wanted one then the doctor ended up telling the nurse to not do what she requested sent her home really didnt help her or listen to her at all we then went to a family doctor and they where great but ended up sending us back here to do tests that this place should have done in the first place.

EDIT: Dropping this to one very well-earned star. We just received yet another bill after supposedly having this all worked out, for $740 FROM A COLLECTION AGENCY for a visit in OCTOBER of last year, a bill we never even saw for the ER physician. Might as well be criminal. Absolutely horrific billing experience. This company should be ashamed. We're done with them. We've been here a lot this year and our experience has been very hit-or-miss, more often the latter. As many others here have reported, the ER is either severely understaffed or doesn't care, and urgent care doctors seem happy to ignore anything said and shove you that way too. Scan results took hours of waiting with no pain meds before we were given an incorrect diagnosis–to the horror of our doctor–and sent out the door with incorrect advice. Doctors and nurses have been very patient, kind, and professional for the most part–awesome people who understand our issues and frustrations with the experience, but the ER experience is poor and the billing is an absolute joke. Despite having three children there, my wife's OB there, and being at the hospital literally weeks prior, we were still asked for our insurance information three times at the hospital and then billed as though we didn't have any anyway! After a lengthy phone call in which we thought we resolved the issue (providing our insurance for the fourth time), we were billed yet again for the exact same amount. On the second phone call we were again told they still didn't have our information on file! We also had times where we were double billed, or despite taking our payment info, not charged at the time and received a bill months later accompanied by badgering phone calls and insinuation that we were apparently responsible for their inability to charge us correctly. Incompetent at best and incredibly frustrating. I'd rate my doctor and some of the nurses a solid five, but the experience with the hospital as a whole has been too many years of the same stupid problems. We'll be going to the new IHC from now on.

Pulled into the front of the hospital looking for the emergency room, went around the building and found the sign clearly labeled emergency, pulled up and got my son out, to have two paramedics come over to tell me I've chose the wrong emergency entrance and to put him back in and pull around to the west side of the building, I guess in my world when someone comes in looking for medical help in the type of pain he was in, they would try and assist, so we made the decision just to drive to primary childrens hospital, it's clearly labeled and the staff is GREAT!! Thank god it was only broken collarbone

Andrea Eddens

I have nothing but good to say about this hospital. I had my gallbladder removed, pretty routine. Sent home. Things were rough, ended up being ambulanced back 12 hours later where they discovered I had internal bleeding. Total fluke and no ones fault. Admitted to ICU for two days and then transferred to the regular floor for three more days. The nurses and CNA's were amazing!

VetA

My first assumption was definitely wrong about this hospital. Only giving 4 stars because their billing service for the ER is kinda terrible.

Benjamin Bryant

Went to the surgical center for my torn ACL. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Always willing to answer any questions you have and actively work to make sure you understand everything. Doctor Robb Rice was my surgeon and he followed up after the operation to make sure I was doing well and to answer any new questions I may have. I have already recommended this be the place for my friends and family to go when they need a procedure.

Trisha Grigg

If it wasn't for the billing department I would give this hospital a 5 star rating. I delivered my baby there 4 months ago. The nurses were wonderful and my doctor was amazing! Initially, I had a failed induction. We were told by the L&D billing lady, Valerie, that we would not be billed for it. So far, I have received 3 bills for It! Each time I have contacted Valerie who tells me she will straighten it out with billing and get back to me. She never called me back until I contacted corporate who still has not solved the problem . I recently received a letter saying the hospital is going to take me to collections. If this goes to collections I will be taking them to court. I hope this gets solved before it comes to that.i also keep receiving a bill for services that have already been paid. I have the receipt and no one seems to know where the payment went. This is unacceptable.

I was a patient at Davis Hospital's Freestanding Emergency Room for dislocating my shoulder in March. I went right back, and spent a short amount of time in pain. All of the nurses were very helpful with making me comfortable while we got ready to put it back in. This was my third time getting shoulder popped back in, and it was one of my better times. After talking to my Orthopedic surgeon, we then decided to have another surgery done on my already terrible shoulder at Davis Hospital. I had my previous surgery done at Mckay Dee Hospital in Ogden, and I can honestly say that my experience at Davis this time around was a lot better. The nursing staff took good care of me in recovery, and the anesthesiologist and Dr. Watson both did a great job at informing me exactly what was going on. Hopefully, I never have to check into an ER again, but if it is a necessity, I would definitely go to Davis.

Deborah LaFleur

Today I had an endoscopy (EGD) at Davis Hospital. I was very impressed with the care taken before and after procedure. My doctor usually does the procedure in Ogden. Although the ogden facility does an okay job the Layton DAVIS HOSPITAL went above and beyond. Thank- you everyone who attended me.

When I called to pay my bill and take advantage of the 25% discount, no one answered the phone...all day. I finally paid online, but didn't receive the sweet discount. I continued to call, and when a fine person answered, I was told that the discounts are not given when paid online, but that she was writing a check as we spoke. One month later, the check has not arrived. Upon calling, I was told that it is being processed, and that they will give me the discount this time only.

Davis allows drive by doctoring to happen in their hospital. Likely in the nicu although i have no idea who or what pediatrix is or does. After paying 13k to cover our deductibles and out of pockets. We have now received phone calls for 6k. We made sure that the delivering doctor and the hospital were in network and made sure to ask that the staff assigned were in network but that failed to happen. We haven’t received a proper bill from pediatrix but they have started to call and demand payment. When asked to provide a bill they stated that they could not. My suggestion to everyone is to make mckay dee you choice of hospital as it will be ours in the future.

Came in for a laceration for my Mom. It has been over 3 hrs and we still haven't got stiches. No one has given any kind of pain killers or even a drink. About 15 min ago they finally numded her knee. Unprofessional!!!

danny shaw

Hurt my knee, got right in. Best experience in an ER

Christine Aguilar

If I could give your a negative I would. This hospital ridiculous! Runs on money and ignorance, just like the rest of the County. Too many bad experiences to list and always about money even when they do the minimal to help.

Domo Kun

Staff is more concerned about their own job than the patients themselves. Selfish, unhelpful, and rude. This hospital is more concerned about taking your dough

Heather Williams

I had a horrible experience here. We took my 20 month old son to the ER. The doctors put him in a room on monitors and didnt check on him again for about an hour. At one point the machine was beeping that his oxygen levels were low and not one nurse came in. I had to go out to the nurses station, where two nurses were sitting there talking, and ask someone to come help. After being in the ER for almost 9 hours with them doing nothing to help my son, the doctor decided to have him transported to primary childrens hospital via ambulance. Once the ambulance arrived they thought it was a 20 year old, not 20 month old. Communication between nurses, doctors, and the EMT's was not acceptable. Our bill is $1600 for them to have him sit in a room and provide no care!! I will never go to Davis Hospital again, and ill make sure none of my loved ones have to go through anything like this either. The care they provided was horrible. I would not reccomend going to them.

I’d give this place 0 stars if I could. I went into the ER one night because I was having trouble breathing, I couldn’t talk, and mucus coated my entire throat. The doctor in the ER was a bald guy around 35-40, and he was the absolute worst. He looked in my throat and said ‘You can breathe fine.’ Turns out I had large tonsil stones, and he said ‘We can’t do anything because of your gag reflex, I’ll try and give you the name of a specialist.’ He came back not 5 minutes later and said he didn’t know anyone, then his assistant gave me a paper that had about 5 names on it but I threw it away, never going back to this hospital again. He was super rude and didn’t listen to anything I said. It was extremely traumatic, and I started crying and he rolled his eyes!! They charged me $300 for a complete waste of time. My husband was absolutely outraged, and we tell everyone to NEVER go here. Absolutely ridiculous.

Talya Cabrera

They didnt even fo anything and my mom was in so much pain sounded like they were having a party out there:(

Worst experience ever. My wife (30 weeks pregnant) had extremely low blood sugar, I took her to the ER, I called them on the way and gave them the heads up to have a wheelchair ready. They didn’t do anything, they checked us into the ER, checked us out with in 5 minutes, checked us into the maternity ward, they checked us out within an hour. Then they checked us out of the maternity ward and back into the ER. What happened in the ER? They set up an IV and ignored us for 5 hours and served my wife a budget breakfast. No help, no service, not a damn thing. And what did it cost us? 1700.00, combined (nurse and doctor) we didn’t see a medical professional for more than 20 minutes. It’s all about exploiting patients and banging out their insurance. It’s dirty and the most pathetic medical staff I have ever had the misfortune of depending on. Stay away, I don’t care if your loved one is bleeding to death, find another hospital. STAY THE F AWAY!

Sarah Mego

Davis hospital got my 3 year old to see a doctor within 5 minutes of arriving. Took her fever in minutes and had medication for her in under 20 minutes. They did an X ray and flu swabbing and had my results to our family in about 30-35 minutes. They diagnosed her properly and treated her as needed, we go to the hospital at 7 PM and left at 8 :30 PM ( a good 15 of that was getting my little ones ready to go out into the cold.) THE ONLY bad thing I could say is that the doctor did not seem too friendly but honestly I don't much care since my daughter was treated and we did not spend 3 + hours in the ER.

Britt Wilsey

My son had major stomach surgery. On the second day, they took his iv meds, put him on oral. From 7pm until 7am he asked for something for pain and was TOTALLY ignored. Horrible patient care. Will never return. I understand the problems with drugs, but this is ridiculous! Not even a Tylenol. He was not drug seeking! You can see by the photo, he had major surgery. Want to know how to get your patient rating up? Take care of your patients! This is unacceptable in this day and age.

Amber Lewis

I had my baby here and had a great experience overall. My nurses were great, my doctor was great, and I felt like I was well taken care of during my stay. Although things weren't perfect, I was pleased with my experience there and the professional manner that everything from the delivery to the bills were handled. Two thumbs up for Davis hospital!

Abbi Burtis

** WARNING** If I could give this hospital negative stars, and get the place shut down, I would. SHOCKING, NEGLECTUL, INCAPABLE, INCOMPTETENT are the words I associate with Davis hospital. I work in the medical field, and have heard horror stories from other unfortunate patients who have had to visit Davis hospital, but until I had to experience the lack there of care, empathy, and medical knowledge and so on, I had no idea how HORRIBLE and SCARY this place can truly be! DO NOT LET YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS OR ANYONE YOU CARE FOR GO TO DAVIS HOSPITAL! THEY WILL NOT GET THE CARE THEY NEED! They would not do a medical transfer, after we were concerned for the health and well-being of my injured family member. WE had to have my family member discharged, so we could take him to a true hospital where he could get the care he needs. Upon being treated at a different ER it was discovered that Davis hospital had failed to diagnose my family member with other severe injuries.

I've been here multiple times since I was 7 (I'm in my 20's now), and honestly Davis Hospital is the only hospital I will go to! I've had tests, surgeries, and even ER visits. My experiences have always been really great. They're not perfect and out of the 20+ different times I've been to Davis Hospital only twice have I encountered any unfriendly staff, for the most part they are all really great. The hospital seems very clean and in great condition, the women's ward was fantastic and very peaceful. I also really enjoyed the room service, their cheesecake is amazing! :) The ER wait can be long depending on your situation, when I went for a terrible migraine the wait was about 35 minutes or less & when I went for my kidney stone (we thought appendicitis) the wait wasn't even 2 minutes. When I went in with the kidney stone the staff was so awesome, I was being a total crab because I was in pain but they handled it like professionals. I was super impatient while they were asking me questions to figure out what was going on, and they stayed calm and did their best to make me feel better. If I had to guess there was at least 5 nurses in the room and the doctor, they all seemed to care and were trying to make me comfortable and figure out if it were my appendix or not. I know friends and family who unfortunately have had bad experiences at Davis ER, but like I said all except two of my visits were excellent. I appreciate everything they've done for me. I hope my review helps anyone thinking of going to Davis Hospital.

Great community hospital you can trust#

I was in an accident, and although I was not in severe pain, my back and neck hurt and so I went to Davis Hospital to get an x-ray done to make sure everything was fine. My father-in-law warned me that he had horror stories of going to Davis Hospital and advised against it, but I went anyway. Well, I guess I should have gone to McKay-dee after all. Service was sub-par and there was not a lot of communication going on between the nursing staff and me. I had to specifically ask three times to receive a copy of the x-rays they took, so I could take it to a chiropractor. Later I had billing problems because of the insurance I had, even though I told them before even entering the ER what insurance I had to try and cover my rear end and was assured that I would be covered. Although I am positive there are worse hospitals to go to, there are definitely far better services in the immediate area around Davis Hospital.

Brianna H

This is a terrible hospital. They aren’t interested in actually helping the patients. They want you in & out as quickly as possible, no matter what is wrong with you. I feel so sorry for anyone who has to go here.

Jake Jackson

Overheard staff talking about how they were there hours late ordering meds, had to wait another 3 hours for them to arrive from the pharmacy. Staff outside the ER room seemed to busy taking about YouTube videos and playing loud music. Out of line; we had just suffered a miscarriage and felt disrespected by the staff and inordinate wait times. They had my wife take a urine sample for testing, but the sample remained in the collection cup on the counter of the ER room.... Up until we were discharged. Why have us collect the sample, just to leave it io the counter? Not the sharpest group.

Aaron Perry

I can't believe the help and service from these fine people. They cater to you like your dying. I'm surprised to say that they are just as good and in some cases better than the u of u. Thank you guys for helping me get back to health. You're just awesome!!!

Hope Hewson

Everyone represents your brand. I went here for some lab work this week, man how I wanted to run away the second I was taken to Admitting. Everyone employee sitting behind a computer there looked like they rolled out of bed and came to work. Nothing professional about them. They avoided having any small talk with patients as they came through. If you are in a people business, one look the part, two it's safe to acknowledge patients as people. The only positive was the Lab tech was polite and understanding.

Charlyn Marple

Check in time was quick. The staff member where nice & very courteous. The food was quick & delicious. One big room all to myself.

Jessica Echols

I'm not understanding the negative reviews. I have had nothing but great experiences here throughout my pregnancy and when going in to pay on my account. I'm always greeted by the sweetest older lady in the lobby who ensures I'm directed exactly where I need to go. When I was admitted for some complications halfway through my pregnancy, the nurse was nothing but caring and anticipated every and any need to make sure I was comfortable. I'm delivering here in a few weeks and looking forward to my interaction with the staff and facility again.

Heather Saddler

1 star is strictly for Account Services. Do NOT overpay on your account. I accidentally overpaid on my account in February (my fault). The refund was "approved" in April, and as of June, still has not processed. Their response to the 4+ month delay? "You didn't call." I hope to get my $400 by Christmas. Aside from billing, the care we've received here has been good; caring doctors and nurses, including ICU, which we've had the misfortune of visiting a time or two.

LZ Crider

The hospital calls you before surgery explaining the costs of surgery... you pay those costs... then they charge you more.

I WISH I COULD GIVE LESS THAN ONE STAR. One of their Staff Members broke HIPAA and nothing was done to her. She let my ex husband know his location while he was being treated in the hospital. Reported her, and "she didn't break HIPAA" What they didn't know is if I was going threw a terrible divorce and the last thing I needed was his location being gave up. I thought my son was safe at the hospital. Thought his safety and everything else was number one priority. I guess not, be chase the house cleaner just got to tell him everything , including who was in my room. Did she get fired? No. Did she get I trouble? No. I want her fired, and never allowed to work in health care again. People don't just get to give up his location and what's going on with him. Worst experience ever. Don't go here if you want your privacy protected.

My aunt died here and staff nor doctors could figure out what was wrong with her.......if I could give this hospital a 0 i would emergency room sucks bad my girlfriend had thought that our daughters heart wasn't beating cuz she wasn't moving they got us in the back after a long wait and then it took them like literally 45 min to check for a heartbeat on the baby and this was after I had to say something and staff said the doctor forgot to put in the request in ,this was a late night check up too, also just today my woman was told by her doc to come in because she is 37 weeks along and to get looked at cuz she was contracting every 4 min and they said they talked to the doc and said she said to send her home when she was the one that said to come here if it persisted....also their is blood splatter all over the floor in bathroom too in delivery room I have pictures to prove it.

Heather NyCole

The post op nurses have been so amazing the three days I’ve been here

Jonathan Escobar

So I took my girl friend to the er cuz her back pain was too much. The only thing they could do was drug her. No x ray no physical examination or anything they couldn't do anthyng for some reason. The next day I took kayropracter cuz the pain was too much and the first thing they did Was x-ray. We found out her spine needs surgery!:/. HOW COME A KAYROPRACTER IS MORE HELP FULL THEN THE FREAKING ER ROOM!!!! THIS DAVIS HOSPITAL DOCTORS ARE USELESS. LACK OF PRACTICE OR SOMETHING. FROM NOW ON I NEED TO CHOOSE A MORE PROFESSIONAL HOSPITAL.

colby maw

Left waiting for 2 and a half hours no doctor no nurses no nothing while my grandma's small intestinal was abstracted and in a ton of pain and still waiting and nothing worst hospital I have been don't come here if you actually need help they would rather you just die than lift a finger to do anything I would give them a negative rating if I could but it makes you put one star to post

Madelyn Victoria

My daughter completely stopped breathing and I had to call 911. Upon arriving to the ER, we had to wait for 20+ minutes while my daughter was foaming from the mouth and struggling to breathe. I had to remind the lady at the desk to get us back twice before she finally rolled her eyes and got the nurse. The nurse was rude and made me cry. He asked me to describe symptoms and when I did, his response was "well she's breathing now so..?" Long story short, REQUEST ANYONE EXCEPT TODD FOR YOUR NURSE, or avoid this hospital altogether.

AtHomeDad

Everything went well.

Thompson siblings

The worst hospital ever! The nurses do not care what you have to say they talk over you and act like you don’t know your body. They want you in and out .. this nurse in labor and delivery was so rude . Her name was Clarissa .. worst experience ever

Corinne Green

What a horrible place that has no regard for patients, their care, or customer service. They have an "up yours" policy. I had surgery there and the nurses were rude, everyone acted put out to have to do my life threatening surgery. In recovery, I was hardly checked on. When I passed out on the floor in the bathroom and pulled the emergency cord no one came. Now, they have charged me twice for the same procedure (thousands of dollars) and won't issue me refund. This is all because I had my blood drawn last week and I have an open account. So....they owe me thousands of dollars, but wont pay me back the money they made a mistake on because they have a bill processing to my insurance for a hundred dollars. Makes total sense right? So I called billing. They were rude, cold, and said. Well that's our policy, I cant help you. Well guess what, I had cancer, I have to have my blood drawn monthly. So are you saying I cant get my thousands of dollars back because I will always have a processing account with you monthly. This hospital is terrible and the could not care less about you. I will NOT go here again even if I am on deaths door.

David Vickers

Went in for pain in my arm. They took me back gave me a mri and instead of telling me anything they just shipped me off to a different hospital over 10 miles away just to be sent home. These doctors don't seem to have a clue about what they are doing i asked them 3 time to tell me what exactly was wrong with me but they never said anything acting like i was bothering them.

salguero sisters

Come here if you plan on dying. The er staff is so rude and do not believe you if you are actually ill. I've been here four times and today is my last time. Unless I am unconscious and can't speak. Please head the other way and avoid this hospital. Oh the nurse told us she wasn't sure if our room was clean. They were also laughing about a patient who was unresponsive. I think any positive review is likely from someone who works here.

Jim Murphy

ER Doctor Blake J. Yerman. Didn't even look at the severed tip specimen I brought in, and didn't even offer to TRY and put it back on. Unprofessional decision. It was totally worth the try in my opinion. I will never use Davis Hospital ever again, and I will share my experience with the thousand of customers that I see per year. Look at all the negative reviews. Still nothing has been done by Iasishealth to remedy any practices. My advice, go the extra mile to another Hospital for better, more professional care.

raylene casias

This is not the place to go if you are feel depressed, my daughter came here and they held for days and made her go to court in handcuffs and shackles before they released her. It was horrible and scary . I don't ever want her to come here again .

Summer Hodge

I gave birth to my little girl 10 months ago in their maternity ward. My doctor was amazing but my nurse was horrible. I was scheduled for an induction and told her that I pass out around needles. She shrugged it off saying she’s really good at doing IV’s. She goes to stick me and I pass out. I wake up and she’s telling me that she messed it up and that my “veins are bad.” I’ve been told my whole life my veins are really good. So she goes to do it again, of course I’m out again. I wake up and she’s making comments about how I really do pass out a lot. So fast forward a few hours and I’m ready to get my epidural. I tell the nurse again that I pass out. She and the anesthesiologist tell me it’ll be fine and I need to sit up for this. Well as soon as the needle is in my back I slump over. They still attempted to do it and it only worked on half of my body. But by the time I realize it’s not working right the only anesthesiologist in the hospital is on a two hour lunch break. My nurse gives me fentinol and everything is all good. I get my epidural redone and they let me control my dosage. Not long after I know I’m about to push my daughter out. I tell my nurse and she shrugs me off saying that she just checked me, blah blah blah. I keep telling her and she just walks off. I send my husband out and he has to yell at her to get her to get her in there. My doctor rushes over and as soon as she has her gloves on my daughter is out. Now 10 months later my daughter had an ER visit because she fell and hit her head on concrete. I was told to watch out for the signs of a concussion. Two days later she wakes up vomiting, a high fever, diarrhea, and being lethargic. We rush her to the ER. She gets a ton of tests done, tests that my doctor was completely shocked they did. For one they inserted a catheter into her with no pain medicine for a urine sample (I found out later they could have just waited and collected it on a special pad but they didn’t want to “wait any longer”). Four hours later the doctor comes to see us for the first time and tells us my daughter is just teething and it’s totally normal. He gives us a prescription for anti-nausea medicine and Tylenol. Something felt wrong so I followed up with her PCM. Her doctor tells me she definitely has a concussion and a lot of swelling. He told us that anti-nausea medicine won’t do anything for her and was baffled that a doctor would give it to her or even tell us it was just teething. She’s responsive and is on bed rest now. But I will never go here again. My child’s life isn’t a freaking game. Update: it’s been a week since our first ER visit and the hospital just called to tell us our daughter has a Staph infection in her throat. It took a week to identify and test this sort of thing?! Absolutely unbelievable! Update 2: My son started having the same symptoms as my little girl so we took him to the doctor. Their doctor did tests on both of them and said neither of them have had Staph. So my little girl was on antibiotics for absolutely nothing! They both just have a stomach bug. This place is absolutely disgusting!

Troy Ross

This is hands down the worst ER I have ever been to The ER doctor if that’s what you want to call him didn’t know anything. My medical knowledge is far superior to his. The only positive part of my visit was the nurse who did a good job with my IV. The rest of of my visit was absolutely ridiculous. I felt I lost brain cells just being in the company of the staff here. My father has had bad experiences here as well. If i need emergency care in the future it will not be here

Stephen Fernelius

Worst place ever. Said my mother had asthma without doing practical procedure of an xray to find she had cancer. Untruthful, they don't know what they are doing, and very unprofessional attitudes

Char Todd

Came in on a Sunday. 20 min wait, which was Grest! Everyone was friendly & courtesy. The Doc. explained everything to me. Going back for surgery next week.

Marit Welker

We had to take my daughter in for vomiting and passing out. She is 10 years old and the ER was crowded. They got her in very quickly and took great care of her. Not only did they work quickly and calmly to treat her symptoms and diagnose the source, they were truly very caring. The whole system from billing and admission all the way to the clear explanation at discharge and the quick follow up, made the experience better than any ER I've been to. (5 kids and 5 states has meant quite a few ER visits over the years.) I would recommend them to anyone.

Dana Child

Truly the worst experience I’ve ever had. I do not recommend anyone use this hospital. I can promise that no one in my family ever will again. Also this was our third bad experience, so it’s three strikes. I also tried to contact their patients advocate before posting this review and got no response.

Roger Grow

My sweet wife had her appendix remove in April, so we got to start in the ER and then surgery with Dr Larsen. I can honestly say that from the time we checked in, to getting into the ER until she came home late that night we were treated fairly and with kindness and genuine concern for her well being. The ER doc was a wonderful thorough lady Doc sporting her UofU, the ER nurse Jessie was awesome and he really helped with the pain she was in. They both listened and ruled out the other possible issues. The Surgeon was Dr Larsen and he was funny, but very upfront on what to expect and was fantastic. When surgery was over he spent time with me and the post op nurses were also kind and helpful. Overall the entire horrible night was made much better by the kind staff from top to bottom.

Elena Espada

My daughter had a great experience during her labor and delivery here. All the Nurses were very nice and attentive, the Doctor were very professional and did a great job with her c section, and the anesthesiologists was very kind and was always making sure she was comfortable.

John M

All good. Courteous. Professional. Quick. Simple. Painless.

Dave Maughan .

I recently took my son in to the emergency room for a dislocated kneecap. They brought him in and popped it back in place after about 15 minutes. They took his blood pressure and gave him some ice chips. No drugs were administered and we left the hospital within an hour of arriving. I then received the bill. The cost was nearly $3,500. I would consider this robbery.

CoachNiki DotCom

Had an amazing experience, helping deliver my goddaughter there tonight. Nursing staff...FANTASTIC! Everyone has a positive attitude, they took ownership of their patients, ensured all were comfortable, even my godson! (He is 2yo! And they let him stay!) They let my friend stay with her baby the entire time... They didn't force her to keep the baby in the nursery. They kept close watch and always answered requests immediately. Further, it was perfectly clean, with immediate cleanup following the birth. They were amazing all around. Big shout out for Stacey Crawford, the OBGYN who delivered my goddaughter, for excellent bedside manner, swift execution of post-birth process, and perfect coaching to all of us involved. She was perfect.

Darrell Gronau

We have been using Davis Hospital for the past 7 years. From a broken leg and several other injuries and procedures I felt it was top notch care. We have Tri-Care and they do a great job of taking care of the Military folks that use this facility. Thanks!

Jacob Craner

Unbelievable wait times in the ER. Doctors standing around drinking coffee and laughing while my wife is in agony.

Kiet Trieu

We had the best experience delivering our first child here couple days ago. We loved our delivery staff as well as postpartum nurses and CNAs. Will recommend the staff at Davis Hospital!!!

Awesome Dude Of The Earth

I had my blood drawn there twice I felt pain, and I am really SCARED of needles, but the nurse made calm and when she drew blood even though I felt the needle, she made me get over my fear of needles. Even though Mc-Kay Dee and Davis are different I think both are really amazing hospitals.

natalie najera

Had pneumonia the day after my surgery and refused to give me my pain meds

Marisol Gonzalez

Until what time are visitors allowed

Matt Thompson

Literally the worst experience of my life. It was more like stepping into a torture chamber. I went there with pneumonia and was treating by staff that was trained poorly. They took my temperature incorrectly and were under the opinion that I did no have a fever even though I had a 104 degree temp. DOCTOR SUMMER GRACE walked in with a chip on her shoulder. Was the worst, rudest, most uncaring physician I've ever met in my life. Wish I had more space in this review to tell of my poor experience in detail.

Clairyssa Williams

I just had my second knee surgery here, I don’t understand the bad reviews at all. My nurse Candice if I’m correct was on top of everything and was very caring for what I needed awaiting surgery. When I was waiting to go in to surgery she repeatedly made sure I was okay and was as comfortable as possible. The nurses in the recovery room also did the same. Thank you Davis Hospital and doctor watson.

Mr Froggy

Terrible experience on my last day. A nurse by the name of Shawna greeted me this morning with a “You need to be out of here by10:45 today!”.... Not a good morning, or how are you feeling... nothing! The tv was broke down all day... I called for maintenance and by the time I checked out, it still had not been fixed. I ordered French toast at 8:00 and didn’t get it until 11:00.... A three hour wait! I love my Doctor “Dr. Sumsion”... but the Hospital was a nightmare.

DaDa luvs Baby Tyson

I read the negative reviews about the ER & ER Drs which have to be written by Med Seekers or Dr Shoppers. Just because a Dr sees through a patients deceit does not make them uncompassionate. I went to the ER on 3/30/19 & saw an incredible, caring & very knowledgeable Dr. The Dr I was treated by is Dr Sandberg. She was thorough, campassionate, caring & a straight talker. I was treated with respect, compassion & urgency for what I had come in for. Davis Hospital won me over for life because of this ER visit. The care, staff, caring & treatment were all Top Notch. Davis Hospital ER is the most professional in Layton & will always be my only choice. In fact Davis Hospital will be my only choice for any type of care going forward. I wish the ER Dr I was treated by would go into Private practice, because I would love to have her as my Primary Care Physician. Thank you again to Dr Sandberg & all the fantastic ER staff that treated me on my visit.

YadaYada Yada!

I had surgery here a few years back and they took great care of me! Every hospital has their pros and cons.

Neil Hjorth

Davis hospital, where Davis county goes to die. Honestly, the best thing this hospital is for, is to transfer you to another hospital that can actually help you. If it is anything more than a splinter or a papercut, I would totally suggest going somewhere else. Otherwise, they will just end up transferring you anyway, and then charging you for the time you spent there.

Linda Ng

Came into the ER where my boyfriend had been in a bad car accident. Most abrasive patient care I've ever experienced. My boyfriend was in pain, and the team threw his limbs around, without a care for his pain or making him as comfortable as they could. People entered without saying who they were or what purpose they had in there. The guy taking the EKG was one of those people and I asked him how it looked, just to be friendly (I had seen it and it wasn't abnormal) and he abrasively said "fine" and left the room and also the curtain open with no consideration for our privacy. We got one visit from the doctor on not even a busy night. Left us with no plan of care. Not even water, which I had asked for at least 5 times. Terrible patient care.

Patrick Gerlits

My wife gave birth here because our options were limited due to insurance. First I have to say that the delivery was amazing and the doctor did an amazing job. The delivery team I can't complain about. What I can complain about is the unprofessionalism of the LnD staff after birth. I take and continue to take an active role as a father and refused to allow my son to go anywhere without me in this hospital so the baby roomed with us. After being awake for 48 hours (not due to rooming with the baby) but because the hospital staff entered the room every 2 seconds waking up my exhausted wife and I and continuously annoying our baby. I know Nursery has a job to do but the constant phone calls resulted in me pulling the cord. My wife and I did an excellent job as new parents caring for our son but the staff here felt we were incompent and gave me dirty looks every chance they could. After 24 hours (the minimum) we told the staff we wanted to leave at a specific time which would put us at 36 here at the hospital. The resistance was huge and not warranted. When our deadline came and went they refused to take off my babies house arrest anklet and told us we couldn't leave without locking down the facility. This was insane. We flexed with these people and met them halfway on everything. They had no cause to feel my child or my wife we're in danger. I stayed with my wife 100% of the time and refuded to be sperated yet I was treated with an incrdible disrespect. My wife doesn't speak English well and I translated everything for her but despite that the staff generally refused to speak to me. This is how active father's are treated, this place all and all is garbage. If you're a father that wants to be there for your children DO NOT come here.

Kevin Blue

I was charged $1900 for 4 stitches to my child's thumb! Talk about fleecing the patients. I won't make this mistake again.

Chandee H

This is a wonderful facility. I love the lady on the east wing she brightens my day every time I come in!

Jody Clark

Spent 2 hours in pain before ANYONE even checked on me. Waited another hour before I asked how much longer til I received some help. Waited ANOTHER 30 mins and still nobody came. So I walked out!!! If you're in pain DO NOT GO THERE THEY DO NOT CARE!!

Bradley Jarman

Found several members of the nursing staff in the psych ward to be more concerned about following "rules" than showing compassion; it was obvious several of them were more concerned about collecting a paycheck than providing the appropriate care one would expect in a psych ward. Was also given false information about cost of care and had to make several phone calls and talk to several different people to resolve the issue. Would not recommend to anyone who has a choice in hospitals.

Kendell Lewis

We had two trips to Davis Hospital recently for my mother. On the first visit, I would like to praise the entire nursing and CNA staff on the third floor, especially Jesse and Noelia. They were kind, professional, and attentive. On the second visit, I would like to praise Angie in ER (she could do an IV on one try with no pain). There were also a few CNAs on the fourth floor who were kind and professional, though RN, Lupe was unprofessional and unkind. We thank Rachel, the Social Worker who worked very hard to help us leave.

heather markland

When I found out I was having surgery here, I read the reviews and I was NOT excited! So many negatives! But I have to say...my experience was nothing but exceptional!!!!! I was in the hospital for a total of about 5 days and I couldn't have asked for better care. The nurses at the women's center were wonderful! (Davis Hospital- i am more than happy to give you the RN and CNA's that stood out). They listened to all my concerns, explained everything that I should expect, how they are going to go about treatment and if I had to hit the nurse call button I never had to wait more than 10 seconds. ABSOLUTELY the best care i have ever received at a stay while in the hospital. They only reason i didnt give 5 stars was because there was not a couch for my husband to stay the night with me. Thank you Davis Hospital for such a great healing place and such a wonderful staff (the staff in the ER was wonderful as well!)

Kyle Youngberg

Nurse Courtney in labor and delivery is completely amazing!!! She checked on everything, always checked in when she said she would, answered any questions I had and made the labor so much easier! I loved how she handled everything!

Amanda Mecham

I delivered at Davis hospital & it was the best experience! Dr. Miller is amazing & the nurses were the best! The rest of the staff was wonderful as well!l

Sherrie Hawley

I received a call from Davis Hospital with a recording on the line asking me to hold. After several minutes, someone finally came on the line and confirmed I was the caller they wished to talk to. Then she began asking my date-of-birth, (which I gave), then my address, (which I gave), but I finally drew the line at the last four of my social. I then reminded her that SHE called ME and I had already confirmed who I was. She said she could not discuss the "issue" until I gave all the personal information she needed. I had not been seen at Davis Hospital for nearly a year. What "issue" could possibly be so important at this point? She has never called back so I guess we will never know. Be careful if you receive a call from Davis Hospital. They want ALL of your personal information for "issues" that apparently don't exist.

Brennnen Erickson

3 hour wait with no one else here. Sat in waiting room in a lot of pain.

Tina Mortensen

Patient portal still down, for at least 6 weeks. Haven't received my mammogram results waiting over 3 weeks now. Last year the ER staff and Doctor we're weak on compassion. Chest pains, but after tests, felt like they were not believing the pains. Left ER. Discharge nurse was put out. Needed room for other waiting patients. Dr. didn't communicate any other possible diagnoses. Just that heart was fine. Still have questions about lab and other tests. Six months later I had gallbladder removed, inflamed and stones. Dealt with that rude radiologist tech too. Wanted to walk out. Was one of the first patients in the ER when it was originally opened.

john weirick

We have been at the emergency room since 7:05pm my daughter had fell from a tree and busted her leg and hip. Its now 10:45 and we are still waiting on "results" from the scans they took at 8:30. I have asked the staff twice if they have heard anything and they look at me, as if I'm bothering them. This is completely unacceptable and worst e.r. I have ever been too.

Amber Spader

My husband profusely bled all over the floor of their ER waiting room. After pressing their staff over and over to treat him, I finally told him “you’re going to die if we don’t get you some actual help”. We drove up the street to IHC where we found people that actually gave a damn and my husband is still alive because we were smart enough to get out of this hell hole.

Sam's Girl25

My dad had to go for a ultrasound here and I have to say this place is OLD and outdated. The care he got was rushed, the nurses acted so disinterested with the patients instead they just gossip with each other. Very unprofessional enviornment for sick people. And the cafe/dining area sucks.....it's way too small, no seating and you can't even get a decent coffee. It's just a sad pathetic excuse for a hospital...I will take my family to the one in Bountiful, it's a lot better, the staff is much friendlier and the overall feeling is much more positive.

Ryan Read

Went to the ER on the orders of my doctor, and my surgeon. The lady at the front desk then told me it wasn't an emergency because the paper didn't say stat. When someone comes in with an emergency this place will argue with you and send you around front. I had to go to McKay Dee, they admitted me with no problem and found out I have a herniated disc that is pushing on my S1 nerve...way to go Davis...please go anywhere else. If you are in an accident in Davis county. Transport anywhere else.

aaron mellswith

I am not an IHC fan. This hospital is a better fit than most. Not too big to be unperson able, but still large enough to attract good talent. My doctor is with Davis medical, and I am glad.

Shelby Stuart

I thought I’d share my hospital experience for moms looking to deliver soon. I stayed at Davis Hospital for the birth of my son on 4/11. Unfortunately I learned that my body metabolizes epidurals quicker than normal so it wore off after 40 min. My anesthesiologist Matt and nurses were in there checking on me and adjusting my medication manually every 30 minutes for at least 10 hours of my labor. The staff there is incredible and I have never felt better cared for in a time that I couldn’t care for myself. The postpartum nurses were amazing and never once made me feel like I couldn’t ask a question or call on them. If you’re looking into Davis I really recommend them. I couldn’t have made it through the delivery without the anesthesiologist being so caring and ensuring he made me as comfortable as possible and I don’t think I would have gotten that care anywhere else. Their nurses are top notch and we’re prompt on answering all my questions and if I called them to my room for anything, big or small they were on it so fast. I had many questions and fears and they walked me through it all. I couldn’t have asked for better care for myself and first baby. If we have another, it’ll be at this hospital!!

Cheryl Rea

DRMC was a blessing to me when I had a kidney stone. The ER dept. didn't have much a wait and I got in quickly. The staff was very courteous and the Dr. even better! He diagnosed me rather quickly and gave me some meds to lessen my pain. They are very caring and I would recommend then to anyone. They actually care what you are going through!

Deb Nations

The nurses and doctors were amazing. My only concern was my wait time in pre op. Hoping I won't be billed. The doctor in front of my surgeon was way behind. My appointment to go into the ER was noon and we didn't get in till about 2:30. Everything else was wonderful thank you so much

Cassidy Spiers

I went to Davis 2 weeks ago and gave birth to my first child. The recovery team was wonderful and super helpful but during labor, my experience wasn't what I expected for $4200. My anesthesiologist was rude and quiet. Every time the machine acted out and I was in tears, she'd come in with attitude, never asked how I was feeling or explained what was happening to the machine running the epidural. One of the nurses who transferred me to recovery from labor rushed through.. *I vaginally gave birth to an 8lb 6oz child* I was still numb and slightly traumatized from being in labor for 14 hours and pushing for an hour. I understand this is routine for everyone but this isn't routine for first time mothers. 2 issues to fix: compassion and communication. If you're searching for these two things while giving birth- don't go to Davis.

Elizabeth Serna

I was scheduled for a procedure and needed to know a cost estimate. I called them every day for a week and never got a call back! SO unprofessional! I'm going to call my doctor to see if he can perform my procedure at another hospital.

Nathan

Their billing system is inept. My wife and I paid in the hospital for the services she received when our son was born there 3 months ago. Since then we've received three more bills for the exact same charge. They obviously just want more money to stick to their hands

Jessica Murchie

My husband was rushed to the ER at Davis hospital due to being unable to stay conscious when standing. He has a history of brain damage and he hit his head when he first passed out. The ER doctor only gave him a IV bag and a ibprofin. The only test they ran was drug test to see what he was on which was nothing. He was unable to walk and the hospital didn't care. He continued to have a headache from hitting his head for several days and continued to feel as though he was going to pass out. The hospital did nothing. Don't take your loved ones here because they won't be treated.

Marisol Vasquez

The receptionist in behavioral health is HORRIBLE! The word I would use to describe her on a daily basis isn't PG. She has no customer service skills whatsoever. She's extremely rude and abrupt every single time. Whoever hired her should be fired themselves and the hospital should be ashamed they have staff like that representing them.

Stuart Sondrup

My wife had our daughter at Davis. Overall the experience was okay except for one large complaint. Thirty minutes (!!!) after my wife delivered our child someone walked into our room with two bills in her hand. She told me they were the bills for my wife and my daughter for the whole stay at the hospital and if I paid right then they would give me a little discount and I wouldn't have to worry about it later. So instead of enjoying this experience of seeing my child come into this world (an experience people only get a few times in their lives if they're lucky), I had some lady in my face hounding me for money. GO AWAY!!! At the very least, give me a few hours. They were still cleaning my daughter!!! Nevertheless, she was offering a discount so I paid her. Then, one month later I got another bill in the mail. I called and told them my story and how this woman told me I paid in full and they said that was only an estimate of the charges and that I still owed more. So not only did she cheapen a very sacred experience but she lied to me.

Gabrielle Patterson

The nurse and receptionists were very polite aside from once hanging up on my husband. My husband came here to see the knee specialist for some serious pain he's been having for a long time now. The doctor was so rude. He kept cutting us off mid sentence. He seemed like he didn't even want to be there. Very unprofessional.

Dan Nelson

Worst, and I mean literally the worst billing department ever! The bills never say what they are billing for, never have itemized statements. They are no help when you call, bill wrong things, won’t admit or fix mistakes, and just plan lack of any service. I would rather have a colonoscopy with no anesthesia, than deal with Davis Hospital’s billing department!!

Lexi Ovard

This hospital profiles you, and then bills you and your insurance incorrectly to get more money from you. Their "patient portal" has no explanation of what you "owe". I am DREADING delivering here in a few weeks. The only reason I am is because my doctor is AMAZING. The hospital just sucks.

Jennifer Delgado

I went in to the ER early on a Thursday morning with severe kidney pain (which I’d already been experiencing for a few hours at this point). When I got there, there was no one else in the waiting room. The person at the front desk asked me what the problem was so I told her. Without any sense of urgency, she had me fill out paperwork while I’m literally doubled over in pain. She finally opens the door to come back and I’m taken to a triage room for the rest of the admission process. After she took her time with that process she had me WALK back to my room to wait for the doctor. It took about 10 minutes for the doctor to show up and ask the same questions I’d been asked during admission. He barely glanced at me and only did a few tests to see where my pain was (which was getting worse by the minute). once he was done he said he’d send someone in to administer pain meds and that they’d need a urine sample before getting a scan. I had time to use the restroom and could have read a novel before the next person came to check on me. This nurse was very kind but he seemed to be the only nurse working. He took my blood for some tests and placed an IV but still no pain meds. It was another 15 or so minutes before that ever happened. I was audibly in pain and I was writhing in the bed but no one bothered to check on me. I guess the nurse watching Aladdin and scrolling through Instagram didn’t see my situation as urgent (and that actually is what she was doing because my sister was with me and saw it happen). I finally got my pain meds and a scan and had to wait another hour before someone came back to tell me the next steps in the process. I’ve been to a few other ERs for other issues and this was, hands down, the worst experience I’ve ever had. I will take the time to go to another hospital because this was absolutely ridiculous. Not one person acted with a sense of urgency.

Worst service ever. Daughter got there @4 PM And it is now 9 PM. We have not seen anyone for last 3 hours! Don’t know what is going on. We are going to remove the IV needle and leave. They wouldn’t even know. AVOID this place! Even the CNA told us she wouldn’t come here if there were an emergency!!

My wife delivered twins near the end of May 2018. The whole experience has been absolutely fantastic. Everybody from the C sections doctors, anesthesiologist, NICU nurses, lactation specialist, to the postnatal nurses have been so awesome and professional. We never had a "bad" nurse and we had a lot of them being there 4 days for C section recovery and twins in the NICU for over a week. Even room service was great. The food was okay... some things were not the best but it's hospital food what do you expect. They did do a candle light dinner which was pretty nice with a tablecloth and sparkling cider. Thanks everyone!

Too my Daughter there with quite a few concerns. When Dr. Scott Fredrickson came in and checked her over she then started throwing up. He quickly left the room as my child was just throwing up. Didn’t ask if she was ok, didn’t offer us a barf bag, nothing. Then he didn’t come back. My Step Dad and I found a replacement. Sheet for the bed, barf bags and other things to clean my daughter up in the available cupboards. Then when I requested someone else to be seeing my daughter the PA’s (Adam and Michelle) took wonderful care of her. Then as everything was wrapping up Fredrickson came in, gave what came off as a very forced apology. Then went through a summary of what tests were all ran and starting a summary of our visit saying “I” with everything as though he did it all and was apart of it all. He came in the room twice for less than 3 minutes each time. Will not be returning for these reasons.

We had a recent experience with the ICU and it was awful. The nurses were rude and not compassionate. The billing office calls us everyday for payments that we have already made and we came in today and the ER staff is awful they are rude and cocky and not very helpful. I do not recommend coming here for any kind of emergency. It’s ridiculous and I would not want my family members to be taken care of by these people here.

I was taken to the ER on 8/7/2016 they got me stable and I do appreciate it. We were told that they didn't have room for me and they'd have to send me to another hospital. THEY told my wife and kids that since they didn't have room that the hospital would pay for the 2nd ambulance ride and they double checked and said yes they would cover it. A month after I was released I've received the bills which includes 2 ambulance rides. I called and finally (after several attempts) got a hold of the patient advocate ( Michael Paul) he pretty much told me that's not there policy. Even though their own people told us that, we didn't ask for it they offered! He said he'd check into it, he called back a couple of days later and said their decision was the same they will not cover it. I was there 5 hours and they charged me almost as much as Ogden Regional did for 3 days with a lot more test and blood transfusions.

Phlebotomist and Dr. Anderson were great but the real star of the show was Bonnie the radiology technician. She was thorough, helpful and kept my mind off the procedure. Thanks, Bonnie!!

I delivered my first baby at the hospital and I loved my experience. I loved all of the labor and delivery staff as well as my post partum nurses and staff. I really felt that the hospital cares about what I wanted as a mom for myself and the baby. I would 10/10 times recommend this hospital and my doctor, Dr Arygosami to anyone. I truly loved my experience.

I decided to take my mom to the Davis hospital ER they were convinced she was over dosing but really it was a blood clot didn't listen to me best part is they put me in the ER room just to end up watching my mom die in front me I couldn't move I was in shock So yeah worse hospital

I received a call from Davis Hospital. When I answered, and automated recording asked me to stay on the line. I wait for a few minutes, then a woman answered and began asking me questions, such as name, address, last four of social security. At that point, I asked what is this about. The woman replied that she could not tell me the reason for the call. I asked to talk to someone else. The caller then transferred me to another number, which was answered by voice mail. I have since place four calls to Davis Hospital (6 March, 12:20 p.m. PAC). When a person answered, I asked to find out what the purpose of this call to me was. Each time the receptionist transferred me to another number, which answered with voice mail. Yes, I know that you're all very busy. So am I. Please call when you have time to be transparent and polite.

Labor and delivery was a wonderful experience. All the nurses and staff are extraordinary along with postpartum staff as well. My baby had to go into the NICU so far the NICU nurses are absolutely amazing the explain everything happening keep me involved and are so compassionate to my situation and needs.

Had a hard exit off of one of the huge white drop slides at Lagoon and knew immediately I broke my leg. We rushed to emergency, they brought a wheelchair, and I was taken straight to the counter to check in, then taken straight back to a room. Dr. Lyman was gentle, efficient, and the nurse quickly gave me a healthy dose of pain medicine. The X-Ray techs were kind and quick, and we got a diagnosis within an hour that my left fibula and medial malleolus were broken. The longest part was waiting on the correspondence between Dr. Lyman and a bone doctor, but even that wasn't too long. They got me into surgery and got me fixed up. I stayed overnight because of how late it was, and the night staff was equally as great. Overall great experience in the emergency department. Would definitely recommend it!!!!!!!

Horrible care, I have clients constantly coming home with meds they are either allergic to, or that cause seizures. You will find better health care in rural Africa.

I just deliver my first baby at Davis Hospital. I would recommend this hospital to anyone! Loved the nursery staff and room. Everyone there Was so kind patient and understanding.

Jonathan Tanner

Never received a call back with the results of my ultrasound, waited all night, when the pain worsen I called the ER to see if I should come in or if the results were positive and could explain the severe pain. I was told I could not receive the results and when I demanded to talk to someone who could help, I was transferred to a department that was closed. I’ve started to double over in pain and I can’t get my own results given to me. I get an answering machine. I would say run from this hospital!!!! This is how people die

Roger Arave

LOVED the Maternity Center they have here! They treat you like you are the only one in the room and make sure you are comfortable. My wife missed going there for our second child. However, the Emergency Room is an absolute mess. I have not been to the ER much, but this was definitely not a good experience. The doctors were nice, but really didn't seem to care about your issue and you were just another patient to write off. The nurses were very much the same. The admittance process was troublesome and confusing as they had a kid running it and wasn't sure of what information they really needed.

Be alright

Its bad when you are 8 weeks pregnant and you go to a hospital that you think you can trust. You get there and have the radiologist not let you look at the sonogram they are performing on you. Not letting your boyfriend come into the room to be with you. Telling me That i had a misscarriage refering me to the rocky mountain womens center so they can give you a pill to make you misscarry. And never being able to see pictures or a sonagram or any kind of evedience of the baby being dead. I still think that they killed my baby. What kind of hospital wont let you see the sonogram while they are performing it on you. Im still upset over this..... I will always wonder if they did this on purpose to me.....never in a million will i go back to this hospital.

Bad experience at this place receptionist front desk bad attitude

Is it your SOP to ask new Moms if there is something wrong with their legs when they ask if someone can help them get to the NICU to see and feed their baby??? Are you kidding me? Insurance being billed for this Mama and her baby and your 'fine nurses' ask 'Is there something wrong with your legs....why do you need help?' Are you serious? How bout this......because she gave birth that same day, has loads of pain, is exhausted from not sleeping in 36 hours, and, oh, by the way, is overwhelmed emotionally because her newborn is in the NICU and she can't make it on her own. Talk about a serious violation in patient care not to mention unprofessional in leaps and bounds. You do realize without patients you wouldn't be employed.....right? Pergaps some refresher classes in simple human decency and empathy. Absolutely inexcusable. If there were negative stars I would rate them -10.

The maternity ward is fantastic. The post maternity not so much. The care is better here than at kaiser in California. However Kaiser has way nicer facilities then here. Also the finance lady has no idea what she is talking about. The finance lady came in 12 hours after my wife’s c-section to tell us how much we owed l. She also mentioned that if we paid all $13,000 upfront that we would get a 25% discount... so and there’s a thing called insurance and you have to go through your insurance and then the bill comes to you and you pay what the end cost is. We paid upfront for my daughters ear tube surgery at Davis surgical center across the parking lot and they said if we paid upfront which I think was $240 we would get a 25% off discount well they overcharged us and the oldest $55 and a check seven months for them to issue the refund to us. I don’t even know how hospitals operate sometimes it’s beyond me. The maternity ward where my wife delivered was pretty nice newly updated in the last two years I believe and there was a soda machine and an icy machine need I say more.

Took my daughter to the ER here after a Diabetic low where Glucagon was admistered. The ER staff had no idea what Insulin was did a simple blood check and gave her a juice box. That's it. She was then discharged while still vomiting and having been asleep and slurring speech. No doctor. No medication. After we paid our emergency room charge they then proceeded to charge us 3 more times. For nothing as no services were provided. Do not go here for anything. This is possibly the worst hospital in the western United States.

Kevin Almiron

The incompetence in this place is amazing, most people there honestly dont give a damn about you. they lack communication and efficiency. They bill you outrageous amounts of money, me and my lawyer will sue this place

Naomi Etheridge

Gave my child the wrong name label on the band. I came at 12:30 waiting until 12:55 for possible abuse of my child. This hospital is ridiculous and nurse staff are careless. The nurse took us to the room and just shut the door no approx time or anything. If this hospital is closest to you itll pay off going to Ogden Regional or Mckaydee for better care.

Berenice Alfaro

Worst hospital to go to! I waited in the er for 4 hours last night to get a doctor to see me didn’t even get to see the doctor they said I have a uti but I’ve had that and this pain is no where near that! I left the hospital still in the same pain I was in when I went in!!

Chalisse Martineau

I was very pleased with the service i received in ER, by Dr.Miller on call obgyn, surgical staff and the several nurses and cna's in the women's center. Everyone was very kind and caring and very knowledgeable, which made this scary experience bearable and unforgettable. Also the hospital was very clean. Thank you!!

Stephanie Reeves

Horrible place. After first going in the morning, my two year old daughters sunburn rash was pretty much dismissed since the couldn’t see it. After a 2nd trip to the ER on the same day due to some unknown virus the night Dr. ruled it as hives and sent us home after giving my daughter Benadryl. The Benadryl ended up making her severely itchy to where she was drawing a little blood when she scratched because she was scratching so hard. I called up the hospital trying to find something to help combat her poor itchy skin and was told they couldn’t help me but to feel free to bring her in if it was an emergency. Seriously? I’m avoiding this place like the plague now.

Kly

If I could give this Hospital zero stars right now I would. Took my mother in the ER, she fell and hit her head, was bleeding everywhere and they did not even care. It was clearly an emergency that was ahead of everyone else that was in there and they said the last person that got there had already been waiting 30 minutes. Zero compassion or empathy. I took her and went somewhere else.

Clayton Pehrson

I was her over 4th of July weekend and they really helped me. I met some amazing patients some of which I am still friends with because we share common mental struggles and the care was amazing. Sometimes their are moments when security needs to get involved for patient safety but generally it's a great place for emergency psychiatric help/ crisis relapse prevention and they really have a good program for stability and doctors appointments set up for once you leave the hospital. The only issue I had with them was one night a friend of mine who was a patient was taking a shower and they barged in on her and forced her to get out and get dressed. She was being very quit and was not even noticed by other patients until they barged in on her. I was dead asleep until I heard staff come into her bathroom and needless to say I filed a grievance for my friend about this incredibly unnecessary abuse of patient rights and also tried to reach the patient advocate about it but even my friend told me to forgive them because they were only doing what they thought was protocol and they were mainly concerned about her safety. I still didn't think they were very gentle with her or made her or me feel "safe" that night but to her point she was right. It was better to forgive them and move on so we did.
