REVIEWS OF Texas Children's Hospital IN Texas

Texas Children's Hospital is by far the worst care we've experienced with our chronically ill child. Due to employment, we have lived in several states and are familiar with a lot of children's hospitals. The lack of communication between all departments is dangerous. My child developed a staph infection during a simple surgery. The infection was misdiagnosed on a subsequent ER visit, keeping my child sick for months and out of school. Infectious disease was never called until it was unavoidable. It truly did seem like a cover up and hoping we would disappear. On top of that, security on the patient care floors is terrible. When I asked to speak to the supervisor of security, she couldn't come to the floor because they were short staffed - so scary. We have had some really nice nurses, who do care. We know they are doing their best in this mess of an organization. Even clergy was requested and nobody ever showed up! Just seek other options before being taken advantage of here.

Dr. Lewis in the ER was very patient with my son. He addressed his pain and took the time to gain his trust before assessing and treating him. The Nurses were informative and interactive. Very pleased with the treatment and care we received.

Texas children hospital is a rip off!!! Just to enter into the emergency room and giving your information you get a bill of $1473.63 As they said this is a base charge not including any diagnosis or doctor fee. YOU RECIEVE A SEPARATE BILL FOR ANY SERVICES PROVIDED!!! They dont advice whether the case can be handled at an urgent care. This seems to be a goon Tax. We are living in modern era, where medical is a business and not welfare.

This is THE BEST hospital experience I have EVER had. The entire staff were amazing from valets, to surgeons. Thank you Texas Children's

The best place to bring your love ones in need of medical assistant. The RN assign to our daughter has been outstanding in his line of work always asking us do we comprehend the situation or he wouldn't mind explaining him self multiple times until we understood Gustavo Herrera is an excellent nurse

Wonderful hospital that saved my daughter's life. However being stuck in the NICU for 3 months opened my eyes to how much miscommunication there was and how some nurses weren't thoughtful or kind to the parents. Everyone in NICU level 4 was nice, but getting moved to 2 was awful because they were planning and changing our daughter's care behind our backs. Charge nurse Bessie and nurse Anna were generally horrendous towards me. Anna ruined her nice going home clothes we'd been given to akind family. It neatly in the gift bag it came in, only for Anna to put it on her 3 days before her big day and get it ruined... can you say space for rent between the ears?? Like.. serious... she had a LOT of other options for everyday use. I was already emotionally distraught by the day and she strong armed me into changing out my daughter's NG Tube. And the condenscending charge nurse, Bessie, defended all these actions and stated the going home outfit wasn't included in the chart. Excuse me? The chart is useless. They threw away her first pacifier they special cut to fit around her tubes, and threw away 3 more after that. And lost her umbilical cord. Us NICU parents want keepsakes too. Parents, beware that no one looks at that chart. They use it as an excuse to do something that upsets us and when it is inluded in the chart, "oops, accidents happen." Oh, and Bessie seriously said Anna couldn't wait another 30 minutes for me to calm my emotions. I have been diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and ptsd from what me and my daughter went through. That is awful, and the nurse practitioner was angry that I went though that. Changing an NG tube is so dangerous to do even without being emotionally distraught.. the nerve.

The Texas Children Cardiology department is one of the most inactive Doctors ever. They do not act fast and don’t tell you when things are getting serious. They failed to tell us about my brother disease how fatal it was and they should’ve acted before and explained more clearly. My brother was a patient since he was 13 but since they start to see he was getting more ill, they didn’t know what to do and just transferred him to Methodist. Where he never got out. My brother is not suffering anymore but Texas Children failed medically. Dr. Lam especially.

I admire the professionalism of the staff in that they were able to diagnose a condition which our son's PCP couldn't diagnose. He had Typhus Fever!!! You can't imagine how shocked I was to hear that after the PCP nurses had repetitively told me it was a virus that would go away. What I didn't appreciate was the lack of information. For one thing, they "interned" my son without consulting me first; it took forever for them to tell me what was wrong. The first two intern doctors I spoke with kept telling me they only had five minutes to speak with me. The nurses wouldn't always come when I called them; I found this especially annoying when my son said he was in pain because of the IV. So the scientific know how is very good; the service, maybe not so good.

Dr. Laura Sierra of the Texas Children’s Hospital is by far one of the best pediatric cancer research doctors ever she is truly kind and loving and has a real knack for cancer research. She also is an amazing person to work with and I am fortunate enough to say I aspire to be her or at least emulate my life after hers

Excellent care staff. ER (although wait times are terrible especially during flu season) triage was hustling. We were immediately triaged and given honest timing on wait times (for us they reminded us if we didn't just wait it out we would be right back because urgent care would not stich on a child's face) The wait was a negative experience, but the care my daughter received was really top notch. Once we got a room we didn't spend anytime waiting for treatment. The plastic surgeon who did my daughters stitches was top notch. I'm so pleased with this facility- please train your ER staff from the woodlands here. The hospital is great in the woodlands but the ER room and staff pales in comparison in my opinion to the medical center branch.

Texas children hospital is the worse hospital I have ever been too! Been waiting for over 8 hours for them to tell me if shes not dying on the floor then she can wait longer and if she has been waiting that long and she still alive is not that much of an emergency. Are they serious ?????who in their right sane state of mind says that to a worried mother who their kid is. beyond sick??if it wasn't an emergency I wouldn't be here waiting 8 plus hours and still counting. Oh and all those hours waiting and they said they couldn't feed her cause if her stomach hurt then she dont need to eat. Never in my life have I had this experience with anyone or anywhere . This is terrible! They dont care about your kid at all and they are super rude. If I could give them zero stars I would. Seriously never ever bring your kids here!I found out childrens memorial hospital is ten times better. Had better luck there . Save yallselfs some time and dont come here. I'll make sure to pass the word as well.

Great hospital for your kids

Completely not satisfied with this hospital. The waiting room was so dirty and never cleaned up in the 8 hours I was in there. Came to try to find answers for my 10 year old who has been feeling bad for 2 months and since I didnt good answers from my pedi I thought we would go this route. Well...sent home and felt totally brushed off like they are not taking her symptoms serious enough or wanting to see what happens when she is having an episode. What a disappointment for a hospital that is supposed to be good. Maybe it's just the ER but still.

I don't spend time doing these things, but I think it worth for this place. Short answer: IF YOU HAVE TO TAKE YOUR KID TO AN ER DON'T GO TO TEXAS CHILDREN, IT'S A JOKE! A way better place is Women hospital of Texas (Pediatrics). Way way way better! Long Answer: I have been in Texas Children twice with my son. first time in the ER as he swallowed a coin and second time just to do X-rays and blood test. I have been in hospitals in different countries (even public hospitals in my home country) and Texas Children hospital is the worse experience ever. Waiting time is a joke. For the first time I arrived there about 8pm and left about 5am, but I understood as it was in the evening, they had to go look for doctors to do the endoscopy etc, etc. But second time, just blood tests and X ray, the place was empty with nobody before us and it took us 5 hours to leave the place, so I realize it's a real issue. In the ER, the service is very low level as well. There was no drinking water available. I asked water for somebody in there and 30 minutes later I had to ask again as they forgot to bring. The blood test, both times they hurt my kid trying to find his vein in different places, and I had to stop them and ask somebody with experience to do it with kids. During the first time, we were sitting there in the ER room with no information. Waiting, waiting and when I asked something nobody would know anything and they just told me that they would get back to me soon. So, Yesterday my son had another issue and his pediatric (that is not from there) asked me to bring him there to do exams and I decided to raise my concern and say I didn't want to go there, so she sent me to Houston hospital of Women and it's a completely different level! No wait time, blood work done with no pain for the kid and in just 1 attempt, from the valet guy to the nurses, to the doctors all first level service. So I guarantee I will never get back to Texas Children again with other options available.

TCH EC department and 10th floor Neurology unit took great care of my son and always kept me updated. Thank you to all the womderful nurses, doctors, and PCAs!

1star isn’t even low enough. I took my son there because he was complaining about a pain in his lower waistline. Got there, waited 2 hours to get to a room. Which they were busy so that wasn’t a problem. Waited another a while in the room. Not once did a nurse or anyone come to check on him to see if he needed any type of pain medication or anything at all for that matter. I asked a nurse when would someone be in to see him, she said “oh about 30 minutes”. After an hour and a half of nothing, I asked another nurse when would someone be in to check on him, he said “let me see”, and never returned with a response. All the while there was like 6 to 8 nurses/ staff talking loudly, joking, playing calling each other names in Spanish. After 4 to 4 1/2 hours of nothing. We left. Went down the street to another hospital where my son ended up having to have emergency surgery. Yet they are quick to take insurance information from patients.

Now I absolutely love my child’s regular dr unfortunately I had to bring my child in for a physical and my daughter saw Dr Cox and her vibe was just unfriendly she spoke to me as if she was insulting my intelligence. I was annoyed immediately. However, thanks to the nurse that was helping out she made it a little more comfortable she was really sweet and inviting. This is the first time I have ever had a bad experience here.

Mike Watts

Came here at 6pm on 3/1/19. It is now 1am and im still here in the waiting area. With only vidals taken. If you plan on coming b prepare to wait a very very long time. You're better off somewhere else. Smh!

griselda Gonzalez

I love the hospital and the staff but one thing that does frustrate me is the pharmacy on the 3rd floor, we always refill our compound meds here and sometimes I'll call first thing in the morning and I'll pick it up in the afternoon since we live in Cleveland TX but everytime we get here I'm told the medicine is still not ready that its a compound and it takes about 2 hours and my answer is always EXACTLY thats why I called it in early this morning

Andrea Molina

My trip here to see me step daughter was very interesting from not knowing what room she was in we went through 3 different towers before we found her with the help of a security officer G.O. big thanks to him #cancersucks #prayforclaudia #weloveyou

I've been taking my kids here 1996 and I have had great experience every time. I have gone to other hospitals and they just want to write a script or blow you off. When no else can find out what's wrong I know Texas Children's hospital will get the job done. My son's pediatrician is even associated with them as well. I love Texas Children's hospital they really care about the person it's not just about making a quick buck.

We arrived there on 7/1/14 via ambulance with an unknown diagnosis. There was a team of doctors waiting for us, Upon arrival we waited in the ER about 30 min for a room, we were taken to the 14 floor where doctors came in immediately to see my son. In the next few days we saw, pulmonologist, cardiologist, child life, psychologist, and where able to get a diagnosis with in a day of being there... I just want to say thank you for everything they did and still do for my family.. thanks to the wonderful and caring doctors my son is doing great. we go very often for follow ups and I would not go anywhere else

I got to Texas Children at 2:45am. A nurse came in seen me at 3:00am. At 4:00am my child still have not been seen by a doctor and the nurse did not come in check up on my child. I ask a doctor with the nastiest attitude to call my nurse he was rude. Then I ask a nurse to call my nurse as well around 4:08. My nursed arrived to my room at 4:11 in said they were on down time because of time change. Time change at 2:00am. They should have already had down time before I got here. My son is 6 weeks old and was born 3 weeks early #premmie. In the service is just absolutely horrible. I wish I can give y’all no stars cause that’s what this hospital deserve.

bill_nye_the_russian_spy

I had waited 7 hours just to be called on! Then for the next hour I sat there waiting for a doctor. Also how are you suppose to care for children at 1am, they should be sleep in bed, but instead we're just waiting on some medicine I can pick up from the phramacy. Uuuggghhh I hate hostpitals especially this one.

My son had surgery West tower floor 3. From the amazing and knowledgeable check in clerk (who was very thorough about the process), the insurance and HIPAA woman (who was with her trainer, also very kind), to the tech who took my toddlers vitals (who pretended my son was a superhero so he could see his muscles when taking his blood pressure) to the nurse practitioner who answered every question I had in detail and kindness.. I was so impressed. A huge special thanks to the amazing Dr. Duncan who kept my son safe and explained the procedure to us and kept us calm, to the two wonderful OR nurses who were the kindest ever to my son. The anesthesiologist was so kind and polite and explained in detail what was going to happen during surgery. I was also super impressed with my sons recovery nurse, Mary Jane. She was so sweet and kind. I had a wonderful experience here and the whole staff was excellent, detailed and kind. It's hard to trust strangers with your child and your staff made me feel so confident and secure. I felt like my son was truly cared for, as a person, not just a number and that means the world to us. Thank you so much, Tx Children's staff.

Bree Gaitz

Most professional, attentive, and empathetic group of medical staff that I’ve ever encountered! Thank you emergency room staff tonight for taking care of my precious child!

My daughter has cancer and sometimes she has fevers and have to stay here for weeks. They put my daughter in a small room with a broken ac that is outdated and they forget about her no activities for my daughters nothing just forgotten. You’ll think they would care about a sick child but no they don’t

Betsy Cindy Davila

An amazing place w/an amazing staff

Rose Galdamez

I’ve never had a problem with Texas Children Hospital I always had great service... My little boy always had this chronic cough since he was born he is now 15 month old he was running fever and cough runny nose so I took him to go see the doctor. I was in and out QUICK!!!! The fact that Alade, Kiyetta Hanan MD diagnose my son with a ear infection and pneumonia and discharge me really fast no test were run NO NOTHING!!! left me in doubt about my babies health... I didn’t sleep all night just thinking of the worst... asking myself if he really had pneumonia they should of kept us longer and treated my baby??? The next morning I woke up and took him to Methodist in Katy, Texas.. BEST SERVICE EVER!!! They admitted my baby they front desk help me out with nice manner as soon as my baby and I got a room the Doctor came in and quickly said let’s run some RSV flu test strep throat test and a X-ray on the babies chest!!!! At Methodist !!! To come to find out my baby has bronchitis as soon as they seen the X-ray images they immediately put a nebulizer with some medication help my baby breath better. I went home with a relief knowing my baby was in good hands with Maggie NP than the MD AT TCH!!!!

claudia Estrada

We came after my daughter fell and had been throwing up and we waited 3 1/2 hours to be seen. Incredible!! Worst hospital

MONICA RDZ

Dr. Honeycutt with Texas Children’s Hospital Urgent Care was great!

Miranda Spradley

I'm giving four stars because the people in phlebotomy were great. Especially Omar!! The lady who checked us in was very helpful (finally). BUT...everyone else we dealt with prior was rude and not at all willing to help. Especially at check-in on 1400. We did not need oncology, but I hope the parents of children who do, are treated better. Even the cafeteria staff were unpleasant. I cannot believe that is acceptable behavior anywhere... Sick children and their parents deserve kindness and consideration.

Mathi Simoes

Took my daughter to the emergency room last night and ended up leaving without seeing a doctor. Rude staff, nurses don’t know how to deal with kids. They put a rectal thermometer in my 13 months old daughter, who was already non stop crying due to her sickness and they found out after the 3rd time that the thermometer was broken. They made her suffer and get worse for nothing. Then, after that, we waited for over an hour and a half and nobody called us and she had fallen sleep as it was already 1 am. I ended up leaving before being called to see a doctor as there was no point anymore as she was resting and I could take her this morning to her pediatrician. Do not recommend emergency room for kids there, unfortunately.

Check out Texas Children Hospital went there to make a delivery today from the dock worker to the Personnel inside fantastic people very polite this place is beautiful inside get a chance check this place out Texas Children Hospital taking care of our children

Briana Ramirez

whoever they hired to answer phones ALL THEY DO IS PICK UP AND HANG UP!!!! I have called 5 times today and they either have me on hold for more than 40 min answer and hang up or just dont pick up!!! how do you want us to call BEFORE 12 if an appointment needs to be changed if no one picks up OR they hang up on you!!

moronkeji kolawole

The person who answer the phone was so rude and unprofessional. she doesn't want to listen to my concern. I have a question about flu vaccine, she couldn't answer and instead, she transfer me to line that hung up immediately or she purposely hanged the phone. too bad.

Monica Vazquez

My son has been hospitalized there many times. Has had 2 surgery there. Have no complaints. They always try to make you comfortable. The Ronald McDonald house inside hospital was a blessing when my son was in the NICU. Thank you for everything.

Elisa Dawson

They are more concerned with making money than patient care. It takes them a couple of hours to call and collect payment over the phone, but you have to hound them with help of the advocacy office to get any answers for test results. Terrible service. And notice that the answers for the bad reviews are only a sorry about your experience. Here is the number to advocacy office.... That should tell you about the customer care service.

Michael Jenkins

Texas Children’s hospital broke the law. When they released my daughter they only gave me a list of Texas Children’s Pediatrics locations to schedule a appointment with they acted like I had to chose a location of theirs —- ILLEGAL !!!! I the parent have every right to chose which facility my child and which dr my child will see! STOP BREAKING THE LAW !!! They got revenge on me when my daughter missed one appointment at the hospital for her eyes (not her first appointment since release) they called cps on me missed one appointment and called cps that day I took her the following day all this out of spite because I caught them breaking the law. They will stoop very low. Be careful they will try to get your kids taken away.

cynthia Ramirez

I came in because my 6 month old had a fever of 104.3, vomiting, diarrhea and no eating. Worst mistake ever to ever come to this place we arrived at 11pm and didn't get seen by any doctor until 5am. Horrible service, dirty and they take forever to see your kid. I honestly dont think they care at all. If you have an emergency look elsewhere. Beware if you come here you will wait over 5 hours to be seen by a doctor. Worst experience ever.

Autumn Seifried

In triage, they insisted the only way they could take our 18 month old’s temperature was rectally which made him even more upset. Why in the world do they not use ear or forehead thermometers for patients?! After waiting 3.5 hours with a screaming child, we were told there were 3 doctors and one nurse practitioner for 20 rooms. And what is the point of having RNs staff the front desk of all they can do is check bp and temperature? Hire more doctors for your peak times (7pm and 11pm according to the front desk) or more NPs that can quickly and efficiently take care of non life-threatening emergencies so that babies aren’t waiting for hours because they keep getting bumped down the list. This was a terrible experience all the way around.

Stephanie Abshire

Awesome doctors and staff! They treat us with respect. And explain everything in detail if we don't understand. And a plus they have parking that you pay $13.00 for and they park your car for you so you don't have to try to find a parking spot.

Phillip Cook Jr

Great staff, Sunday my son was diagnosed with the flu and they truly helped us.

Miss Beka

The best pediatric hospital in the south. Their cardiology and heart center was ranked #1 in the nation. Beating out Boston, who held that ranking for more than the past ten years.

R DL

Great nurses, awesome doctors. Overall great atmosphere & environment. They make you feel comfortable and they are all so positive. My son has the best treatment ever here. I made the right choice of selecting this hospital. Dr. Holly Lindsay - oncology, thank you for providing care of my son Axel. Unfortunately he battled at/rt and passed away November 2nd, at 9 months old. Dr. Holly cared for him throughout the whole process of providing comfort and care for Axel and especially for us.

I applied for a epic training position through a recruiter. I have been training epic ambulatory since 2007. I had interviewed with the training manager 2 years previously about a different position and I was not selected. The hiring manager Told the recruiter I was working with that she had already interviewed me. I told the recruiter this was 2 years previous and it was for a different position and the recruiter told me not to worry about it would be fine it doesn't mean anything. While the following Thursday I was supposed to have a phone interview with the hiring manager at Texas children's at 4 o'clock p.m The hiring manager called late about 10 Minutes late. During the 30 minute interview she kept reminding me that she only had 30 minutes after she asked the question tell me about yourself. I was told by the recruiter that they wanted somebody with a clinical background and I knew that a certification was important so at the end of the interview I told the hiring manager that I had an updated certification for epic and that I was a nurse and I kept my nursing license app her reply to me was yay!!!! She was very rude to me the whole interview she acted like she was doing the interview only because she had to. She was very disrespectful to me so I can just imagine how they treat their patients. I was also told by the recruiter that they were moving forward with other candidates and the recruiter told me that she couldn't understand this because I had more experience than any of the other candidates. So think twice about going to Texas children's.

Horrible experience, waiting for 4 hours in emergency room with my 20 months old baby, staff so slow

Alex Perez

Went yesterday to get our 5 day old son checked at the ER. We got there at 830 pm and as soon as we signed in the staff immediately started attending our son. It's the best experience I have with the emergency room to date. I would recommend this hospital to all parents. Thank you to all the doctors for being so attentive. Would definitely not mind coming back again.

Hospital for children from 0 days old to 21 years old

Laura Carter

The service here has been exceptionally great. We will be checking out this morning, but from the time I brought my son in all the way up onto now I have NOT ONE complaint. My baby had to have surgery due to appendicitis and he was handled with great care. The surgeon came in introduced himself along with everyone else and called me when they were wrapping up to let me know how great things went. In the waiting area there is a guy (forgot his name) that gets updates and comes and tell the families through out the surgical process which I like. Who ever thought it was a good idea for the family to be able to follow the surgical process was right. They monitored my child and made sure he can do everything on his own before we leave today. They constantly asked if they could get me anything the ENTIRE time I have been here. Everyone down from the surgical team (which has came to check on him twice within the past 8 hours) the nures, the patient assistants , everyone who has helped us GREAT JOB.

Kim Alward

Nurses are excellent and the doctors use common English language to explain issues with patients. Though the true issue to the rules that change from day to day. I fully understand and comply with rules. Just don't understand why they change every day.

Arlette Mendez

The worst experience ever!!I checked in the baby ER room at 7am, I waited over 7 hours !, and while on my 5th hr of waiting they had told me; there's one more patient in front of you then you are next. So I said ok I'll give them an hr. NO! After 2 more hours of waiting I went up there and asked for another update and they said. Well you are the 2nd longest wait after we are done with this stack of papers (1 inch)(which are patients) with a higher emergency than you. I pretty much felt like they just threw me to the side and not considered the fact that my 2 month old baby was sick. Do not come here unless your baby has an arm or a foot missing!!

K WHITE

Service is severely horrible...long waiting hours smh never again

I recently had an issue with the Texas Children's Sleep Center and after talking with Advocacy, and Wes (who, by the way, was very empathetic and kind) I thought that everything was cleared up and on its way to be better. Unfortunately, I was wrong and am having yet another bad experience with the sleep center. I do not have my notes with me but Wes had a particular scheduler work on getting Shelby in, I think her name was Toni. She was very, very nice and very quickly got Shelby in to the West Campus on 8/26/18. Having learned from prior mistakes I confirmed that Shelby could be seen there because of her tier classification and I was assured yes, it wasn't a problem. This morning I received a call from Marty (I believe) at the West Campus telling me that actually Shelby could not be seen at the West Campus and she tried to explain why but as I told her, I am fully on top of and aware of my daughter's medical needs. I don't read a chart to learn about my daughter, I'm a daily fixture in her life and she is a daily fixture in mine. Furthermore, I questioned the (once again) misleading information as this is not the first time I have had a sleep study scheduled at a one campus just to be called shortly before the study to be told that "Oops, we made a mistake and she has to be rescheduled to be seen somewhere else.". My question to these scheduler's, supervisors, physicians, and that department is: Would this be acceptable if this was your child? If the answer is no, which it likely is, it not acceptable for mine either. It has been made apparent to me that the scheduling staff thoroughly lacks training. It also seems as though the right hand is unaware of what the left hand is doing and furthermore it seems as though there is a lack of investment in patient care. I say that, because, just rearranging or cancelling a sleep study for Shelby has an impact on other things. Her dad and I both work full-time, but more importantly Shelby has therapy 5 days a week. When she has a sleep study we have to either cancel or rearrange therapies. Her therapist have been planning for this study, as has my job, for almost 2 weeks now. Missing therapy can ultimately (in the long run) impact further authorizations which would result in a loss of service. It would be very upsetting for either of us to lose our jobs for calling in, or worse Shelby to lose therapy services, because the Sleep Center has a repetitive pattern of mis-scheduling and misinforming. It would also be wise that in the future these people acknowledge what a parent is telling them. As I have stated before: Yes, there are physicians who are medical experts but as Shelby's mom and her primary caregiver I am the expert on Shelby. It would be nice for someone, at some point, to heed what is being said. These things should not escalate and the fact that I am seriously considering driving 6 hours round trip to Cooks in Fort Worth is sad. It is sad that Texas Children's, especially one department who has had minimal involvement with Shelby, has been enough for me to go to such lengths.

My daughter had hearing test at Audiology Department, Wallace Tower. Dr. Jannifer A Drob approached professionally to my concerns. Test took about 20 minute. But fanancial/billing department ripped me off. Before making appointment I provided my insurance info. And clarified how much this test will cost. They knew beforehead what test I need, because pediatrician sent them referral. I was told that I will pay my copay only. The day when test was done, I came to front officer and told them to charge me for test. For what I was told, I don't owe them anything as it was examination. After 2 weeks I receive a bill for $511.00. I called billing department, and was told that they consider it like outpatient service. This was deductible of my insurance. I told them why they did give me wrong cost information before appointment was done. For what, they told dont know who gave info and appolized FOR MISUNDERSTANDING. But I still OWE THEM MORE THAN $500 FOR 20 MINUTES HEARING TEST. You know, this is just simple test, nothing specific! Update: I want to thank Family Advocacy team members, Shannon Martin and everybody who was involved in my issue. The bill for my daughter's exam was waived and now we pay only co pay. I didn't believe that team could do anything with my bill. But they kept in touch with me at every stage of investigation/ process and helped me even morally. These things mean a lot for me. Thank you very much!!!

It disgusts me that they do not accept ANY insurance available to those that are self-employed IE Marketplace Plans. The lowlifes and poor are welcome all day long at Texas Children's, however, if you are a self employed, middle class American you get zero. This is what Obamacare has done for us, the actual people that are the ones funding that despicable program. Complete joke on Texas Children's. I will not making any donations or donating to ANY cause that will support that hospital.

Lisa Thompson

It's a great hospital and one that I trust. Waiting room was filthy and I didn't want to touch anything!! Housekeeping should do more rounds cleaning tables, carpet and chair arms in main waiting area. Besides that, the rooms in ER we're clean and doctors and staff provided excellent care!

I will give 5 star!

If I could give 0 stars I would. 10 HOURS IN THE ER!!!!! all to get back some results of blood work since my 3 month old has fever. 10 HOURS!!! HORRIBLE would not recommend. Not coming back. Got here @8pm. In the waiting area for 3 hours!! And 7 in the room. They don’t even have comfy chairs to sit in. Checked out @6am

Brooke Wise

After waiting for almost 5 hours at UTMB, only to be told that the specialist that we had been told was with another patient actually WASN'T there and wouldn't be in until 7am IF she came in then, I took my daughter to Texas Children's. Her nurse, Alma, was amazing and so helpful in getting us in quickly. Texas Children's will ALWAYS be my first choice of hospital for my daughter. Thank you so much.

Arlette Pascual

I've been to this hospital before and they never found anything wrong with me even though i was constantly with diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and stomach aches. They made me take a urine test and that's it. I lived with pain for a few years then my mom took me to see another doctor (its a small clinic by a salon) because my sickness became more often and more painful. The doctor made me take a blood test and a urine test. Turns out i was living with a bacteria called pylori. My mom was mad at the hospitals that never found anything wrong with me. I am glad i finally took medication for it and i can finally eat normally now! No more nausea and stomach pain after eating! Also i am finally gaining my normal weight!

Worst hospital visit ever, wait is about 8 hours long still in waiting ! For my first time visit. With my son was really terrible. Mind you my son got bite by a spider and has a fever that comes back every hour in half ! They already gave him medicine 3 times. I advice you too go too clear lake or bay shore for faster service and free parking ! I’m sorry but Texas children hospital service is the worse !

Arleny Lomas

If I could I would put no stars at all I would. My daughter started with a fever on Saturday March 2nd and I took her to her primary care clinic and they gave her antibiotics because she has an infection. She did not have a fever after that day until yesterday March 8th I took her to the ER and they took 2 hours to see her and the doctor who was there did not seem on his 5 senses! I did not trust him at all he hardly checked my daughter! After another another doctor and she sweet talked saying it might just be a virus without even checking her or anything ! I didn’t feel right and I took her to her primary care doctor turns out she has the flu type A!! This is absolutely absurd! The doctors at the Texas childrens hospital do not seem to care for anything! Their job is to check them until they find a reason for the medical problem the kids have! Do not trust them!

Zabdiel Mendoza

Took my baby in to the ER with fever and waited 4 hours to be seen. Apparently he was not 'sick enough' to be treated as an emergency. We kept going back in cue to other patients. The employees were just lounging and seemed to not care and didn't know what was going on. There was only one doctor for whole unit. If you have an emergency and don't want to wait 4 hours to get checked, take your patient elsewhere.

Jenna Robertson

Y’all. Dr. Harris is the most genuine, hilarious, straight forward doctor I’ve ever met! She has me laughing for every appointment while also maintaining a stellar professional front. She is truly awesome and has made my first time pregnancy so enjoyable. The entire staff at Texas Childrens is always in a positive mood, has conversations with you, there is never a long wait time and everyone is so friendly! The rooms are clean, parking is super easy and convenient, technology is advanced..no wonder it’s the top ranked hospital in the world to give birth. I am due October 5th and I know my family and I are going to be well taken care of. Dr. Harris, YOU ARE A ROCKSTAR.

Jeremy Simpson

Dr. John Hollier and his staff were fantastic! I highly recommend him, and Texas Children's Hospital!!

Renegade Clan & Comminity

One of the best hospitals that I have been to. Only problem is that they never have any urgency to get you going home. You could go for a simple checkup and be stuck there for days even for something as simple as a blood test. They need to get the ball rolling. Waited an entire day just for them to print discharge papers.

Jermon Brown

I loved the time spent here cause the doctors were great and helped get my baby back to health!

Lindsey Malota

The worst experience I've ever had with any hospital. I took my daughter into a local emergency room but her injury was too critical for them to treat. At 6:30pm they put a transfer in for her to go to Texas Children's. We got to Texas Children's by 8:30 with all transfer paperwork. We checked in and got put in a waiting room even though my daughter was critical enough to be transferred. With 2 holes in her eye and her crying blood, we sat in the waiting room for 2 hours. 2 whole hours on top of the 2 hour drive. I will never in my life go back to Texas Children's.

it was a nightmare. I’m highly offended that a children’s hospital would show such disregard and concern for the well being of my CHILD. That was my first and last encounter with this hospital. Myself, husband and daughter arrived at the emergency room at 2:30am Jan 28, 2019. We were advised we were 3rd in the waiting list by 3am. My daughter was struggling to breath normally due to a horrible cough which was so bad she was vomiting and could not sleep. The nurses were so aware of how bad it was that when a nurse FINALLY escorted us to a room she said it took so long because she wanted to wait on a private room because they didn’t want my daughter’s cough to scare other people! First of all that is highly rude to say to ME and most importantly if you see how bad it is enough to take the action to prevent others from hearing it why wasn’t it just as important to get her seen ASAP. Because the matter was beyond horrible, she should’ve received faster care. Needless to say, we were in a private room waiting to be seen by the doctor from 3am-7am. A doctor only came in after my husband and I continued to complain that it’s taking to long. When the doctor came in the room I expressed to her this has been going on over a month and my child’s pediatrician recently put her on steroids but this is still awful because my child can’t sleep because of the constant cough and vomiting. I literally said what would be the next step she needs something to help her breath. I wasn’t aware of what the machines are called that assist kids with doing so but I continued to press and say some kind of machine to help her breath or something next because streroids have not cleared the sickness. She said no we will do an X-ray and see if she swallowed something but she doesn’t need that. Continued to speed talk and ignored the fact that I wanted to better understand why she felt it was best. I immediately packed my child up. thanked God she made it through the night and took her to her pediatrician who opened at 8am. She stated my child needs a neubilizer. gave me instructions on how to use it and confirmed it’s an infection that is going on but her breathing is not good and she needs the neubilizer. The sad part is I was advised by her doctor and many others to NEVER take her to Texas children’s because you are prejudice to children on Medicaid. Money may bring fame but an unkind heart brings SHAME. This hospital is profoundly a shame. I hope it takes a turn for the better because these children are our future and regardless of anything they should always be priority!!!!

Marroqu n Hern ndez Andrea Mar a

I've had such a great learning opportunity here! Great teamwork. Everyone's main purpose is to make sure every patient gets well as soon as possible!

Eric Thomas

Decent hospital but my stay for 5 days was long and tiring only had 2 really great female nurses. The doctors ask questions that a minor wouldn’t even know the answer to getting woken up during the night and getting stuck with a needle in the middle of the night while the nurse takes the needle out harsh popping it into the veins and the staff seem to ask obvious questions and act like your not capable of understanding what their saying .

Krystal Kurtz

Ok let me just say one thing .... WOW..absolutely incredible hospital. I've never met so many caring and professional doctors. they were always checking on us. Asking If we had any questions, always reassuring us. My daughter was admitted into this hospital with sever anaemia, several viruses , and needing blood transfusions. They are seriously the most amazing staff I've seen in a hospital. My daughter is recovering very well and I just want to say thank you to this incredible hospital and the work they did to care for my child. Yall are truly a blessing

Stripes Eagle

So disappointing that we have waited HOURS and still no sign that we will be attended soon. I brought my daughter because she have on and off fever which has lasted for days already. We already brought her to urgent care but still no relief. So we decided to bring her to ER because I presumed that we will be attended immediately and will received better diagnostic services. But to my dismay, it seems the wait takes forever. You can die in the waiting area if you have heart or breathing problem. We started queueing from 9pm and its almost 1 Am already we were still not attended. Its so uncomfortable to sit in the waiting area because you keep on scratching over your exposed skin because of tiny insects thats biting you. I am not sure if its mosquitoes or bugs. We finally decided to leave around 2 am. This should not be named as ER if you cannot give immediate care to your patients. If I can rate you zero I will. I will never recommend this hospital to anybody!

Whitney Davis

Appointment with Dr.Lee was quick and to the point!! Very knowledgeable and pleasant! The lady with her was really nice as well-wish I could remember her name!! Have 4 stars because of the parking....drove in circles in the garage for about 15 min looking for parking....

TCH was the 3rd and the very WORST Hospital my son was in. We started at Driscoll at Corpus Ch. transferred to Boston Children's at Boston MA because TCH denied us the first time. When we were sent to TCH from Boston (when they finally accepted us)was for a discharge plan home which never happened. The only reason we didn't stay at Boston was because it was very far from home(Brownsville Tx)if I could go back in time I would of done everything to stay at Boston. At TCH we were at the CVICU 18 floor, my baby had a tracheostomy and the nurses there were very UNEXPERIENCED with trach care I had to constantly be explaining them the length of suctioning because they would go way too deep causing trauma twice making him bleed from the trach!! & I have pictures I reported a few nurses even with Tracy but it still kept happening it got to the point where I had to print out a paper where it said the instructions of suctioning bc apparently they wouldn't read the paper that RTs had on the vent. My baby spent 9 months Hospital to Hosp. since birth &never made it home unfortunately. Another problem I had with this nurses was that they didn't know how to properly use the cooling blancket they would leave it freezing for long periods on him I would tell them not to put it too cold on him when I was there. Jill the NP even said a few times to go up on the temperature because it was too cold! Sometimes the nurses wouldn't listen to me because they always think they know everything but I learned alot from being so long in the Hospital with my son. My baby had an episode of being for too long on it making his blood pressure drop. A time I was doing trach care with a nurse got out of control because she didn't know how to do trach care, nurse next door had to come in and finish trach care with me, Drs had to come in and bag my son for a while. Things like this could have been prevented if only they would have more experienced nurses specially with TRACH CARE. I spoke with Tracy she did nothing I spoke to Jill and to the Palliative team also. All I wanted was the best quality life for him the time he had :-( not even at Driscoll I had this issues the nurses there were GREAT to him. Another thing is that Drs were SELF MEDICATING my son giving him unnecessary medicines that he did not need I know how sick he was with PVS but this Drs giving things he did not need made it worse and possibly killed him I strongly believe! He needed a cath to balloon the veins and didn't do it bc he supposedly had a fungus ball on his heart, started him on amphotericin which they stopped after a wk because at the end they came out with the conclusion it was not a fungus ball but more like a bloot clot which I always knew and always told them (thats what they had found before at Boston) the last days he lived were very terrible he had a catheter to pee and they also caused trauma to him on his private part the Urologist came in (he took forever) heart rate in the 180s bc he was in SO much pain because he couldn't pee the cath was clotted when they removed it alot of blood came out and still like that they tried cathing him again and again I told them to please not too he was bleeding alot and he was in so much pain, he couldn't cry or move because he was completely paralyzed. They hurt my baby so much. I have everything written down with dates and everything. At the end NOTHING will ever bring me my baby back no matter what I do. I have alot more to say too many mistakes that we went through but it does not fit in this review I never stood quiet and I wish I could have done alot more to help my son I wish he would of had a better quality life and a lot of things like this like I said could have been prevented if they would have better nurses and better Drs too. The only thing that has me relieved is that my son is not suffering anymore and he's in a better place now resting.

Laura Garza

By far the worst emergency room ever. I was sent from urgent care because they said I needed to bring my son to ER for treatment and once I got here the second shift staff was great they got us checked in and to the imaging.Once the labs were over they told to wait in the main waiting area we waited and It has been almost six hours and shift change happened and the night staff is rude their response time is poor and not one patient has been called in three hours I had to ask for pain meds for son and they could not find him in the system. Then the nurse comes out with a check off list and starts to ask people their name to see who has left and who stayed well the nurse looks at me and walks pass me without asking who I was there for so I waited until she made her way around the whole waiting area then she starts to speak loud and is like well im calling names to see who is here and the worst part is my sons name was last on that big list and I was like you saw me sitting there and didn't ask me anything. After that happen another hour has passed now I have been waiting seven hours and still no service my son is in pain and we still have not gotten any information from imaging and I asked how many people are ahead if my son and they said you only been here six hours and the longest person nine hours you gonna have to wait about that much time as well to be seen and that is just nuts already I get better response time at LBJ I never waited in any ER this long for treatment ever.I don't think I would recommend this hospital to anyone. People could die in their waiting room because nurses don't make rounds to see how patients in the waiting area are doing or to see if they need pain management medicine. The only peope that come out are the billing people and asking for names and people think they are about to get treated but no it is just billing to make sure the hospital collects payment for basically waiting in the waiting area and still noone has been called but you can hear the nurses laughing and joking around and being loud

Marian Peters

While I was really pleased with my daughters care as far as her medical staff, that other hospital staff isn’t the greatest, the valet in particular. They were pretty rude. After a rough day in the ER yesterday and then having to be admitted to level 4 nicu, I retrieved my car at just 30 min over the 24 hour mark (just as I was getting ready to head out to go home and shower and change, her doctors came around for rounds) and I was charged for two days (they have a daily rate) despite the fact that I told them that I was coming right back as my daughter was still in the nicu and I was going to be paying for another day anyway as I plan to stay overnight with her again. They didn’t offer any grace period and the lady who spoke to me was very nasty in her tone when I inquired about it

jaheem JInny

they gave me to many shots which caused the influenza vaccine unaffected my doctor made fun of my wheight

Iris Garcia

Staff were very helpful sweet and quick at What they do I'm glad I chose their emergency room they made my 2year old feel welcome overall great experience wish they wouldn't have. Had us wait as long since having a little one waiting is never easy

Suyapa Ortega

Had to take my 3 yr old on Saturday, 11/25, at about 1am due to an ear ache, the waiting area was packed with people that said they’d been there since about 9 pm and still hadn’t been seen. They said the wait time was 8-9 hrs just to see a Dr. After about and hour they gave my daughter some Tylenol and said to keep waiting. At about 4am my baby said her ear felt a little better and we ended up just going home. Horrible experience. $8 for parking and a little Tylenol.

Deborah Parkins

Great place to go So clean and friendly and were able to find a vein in my 14 month old grandsons arm with an imaging machine and did not make him go through any unnecessary pain. I will take him here every time he needs blood drawn.

Genese Johnson

My baby had an extended stay at Texas Childrens where she spent most of her time on the PICU floor. Though the time was very stressful for me as a mother there were many people that made our time a bit easier with excellent communication and those that just had a caring heart that was felt. These people just don’t know how their caring soul and presence made a huge difference for my baby and me, I know it’s a job for them however it meant a lot to me and I can’t thank them enough. There are so many people I want to thank so just to name a few, first will have to be the great Dr Jacobs :) for being such a great person overall and having a great personality through it all, Demi, Jenna, Janice (nurses) and most of all Dr Spielberg and Dr Desai (spelling is wrong I’m sure, IR doctor). This hospital has made its mark in my babies history and I want to thank everyone involved for being amazing

Kara Haines

I was very impressed with the staff. Our nurse and doctors were awesome. we were very happy of the outcome. My son is now home and doing well.

Vatsal Thakkar

Great Doctors - Great Service but Worst and pathetic billing and accounting system. it looks like they want to grab as much money they can from you and insurance. i had an experience recently where they tried to double charge me and then charge insurance as well, it took me a long time to explain that they are wrong... to detail it out: They charged me some 990$ before my visit saying, if Insurance doesn't pay then we use this amount as base from you, i said okay and i paid that. Later, after few months i received a letter saying i owe them money, we tried to explain that we already paid money now you need to get it from my insurance, they wont listen to us and handed our case to collection agent. I then called my insurance company and asked them to look into it, what we found out was - they charged me 990 some on first day and then charged insurance for some good amount and then they completely removed my initial payment from transaction history and were trying to acquire more money. Insurance and hospital finally looked into it and now are planning to refund me 200 because i paid more. It took me months to explain that they are wrong. i had to face collection agents, we were embarrassed to put at this spot, i was really depressed on thinking how will i pay 1000$ more after i paid initially.

Joshua Leach

My daughter Lilith received excellent care here, she was particularly fond of nurse Reena who was very kind and patient with her during her stay.

Mayra Jimenez

I came in to the ER due to an injury my daughter had gotten at school. They ask me the reason i was coming in so i explained my daughters situation so then the ER RN Marianne Oldroyd asked the reason of our visit so i explained and right away she stepped out and brought in the ER App Kim Portal, she examined my daughter to make sure my daughter didn't need immediate attention they gave my daughter medecine for her pain and explained verbatim what all was going to happen those are the type of medical group i like my children to be around they make my kids and myself feel at ease with our visits. Thank you ladys you all did an amazing job.

Amanda Medema

To all the wonderful doctors and nurses that had a hand in Micheal medema's recovery I and his dad want to say thank you truly from the bottom of our hearts u guys r truly Angel's in disguise for all the amazing things u guys do every day to help people Michael's doing awesome and back to his old little self again we will forever be grateful for u guys love always the medema family God bless u all

Valerie Holmes

Here again because this is the hospital our doctor is it out of still horrible hospital. Trying to find a new hospital that has prediatric renal. In the hospital daughter had surgery and it took 3 hours for a doctor to come check her cough. I was told doctor was in the floor 24 hours. Not true.

Will Huss

This is for night shift people.it is the worst hospital. And I dont wnat any one to reply to this review . I wish if I can put zero star as they deserve it This is not hospital It is shelter if you want place to sleep and no one care of you just go there and take rest because no body care there is no doctor's. My son was extremely cry and no one take care .we have to repeat the story 100s time .we keep waiting more than 4 hours with no result .people are so rude and not respectful at all . I hope this review reach to the responsible of this hospital and find out what kind of staff they hired.

El Bayda

We usually go to the clinics at TCH, but we had our daughter admitted to the place twice before, and we had great experience in both visit. However, I could agree with the other reviewers about the emergency center, they could be so rude and unprofessional. Thus, once admitted, it is a whole different experience. Nurses are incredibly nice, lovely and professional. I had an issue with our insurance for my daughter medicine, and the billing department and the nurse did everything they could to fix this problem. receptionist are welcoming and friendly.

Alisson Rivas

The best great service i love taking my children there

Haley Cook

Seriously the most horrible place. The staff is rude, uncaring, and I’m hoping to never return to this place again. If I could I’d give it 0 stars.

Diana Muñoz

The doctors and the staff is wonderful my son had a surgery there they were very professional but the people that answer the phones on the main number or the schedulers or the assistants of the doctors they are not polite they are not helpful. I hope they will do a poll with the patients so they can figure it out who is not doing t a good job and improve it. The people who work in this positions need to understand they're talking with parents of sick children. We have a lot of questions, we need help from them not an attitude.

Mahmood Alobaidi

The pediatrician recommended that we take our daughter to the er after a cut that needed stitches got infected. The pediatrician sent over her info and called ahead to let them know we are coming. Within the first 30 min we got checked in and the billing department came out and requested us to pay $400 upfront. We said okay we will take care of it. Now sitting here three hours later we still haven’t been called back and we can’t leave cause we are already paid in. This is a shame for the fourth largest city in the USA. You should have enough doctors to cover the floor and get patients seen ASAP. And please don’t respond asking to call Family Advocacy line as I’m not interested in any excuse as to why you are understaffed and nothing has changed. Hire more people that is the solution. Thank you.

Paul Plauche

So thankful to have a place like this to take care of those uncommon issues.

Arianna Lee

My great niece was admitted here because she had a case of mono that would not get better. About 3 weeks into the mono she began having debilitating headaches. Then the tremors began along with problems walking on her right side only. Was admitted to TCH who discharged her with a diagnoses of migraines. Within days of being released the tremors and problems began on her left side along with her existing problems. Her speech has now reverted back to sounding like that of a toddler and her memory is almost non existent. Explain HOW THIS IS DUE TO MIGRAINES. TCH has a great reputation but my great niece fell through the cracks.

Stephanie Haralson

We saw Dr. Bostwick today in the Genetic clinic in the Woodlands office and he was GREAT!! He went way over our expectations and has a great attitude and is very informative!!!

Tomas Brizuela

I’m very disappointed we had an emergency our 3 week old baby definitely had something wrong with her at 2:00 am we decided we should go to the emergency room because her Pediatrician isn’t open until 8:00 am. The only reason we tried Texas children Is because her doctor works for the same organization. We waited for hours to the point we gave up and told the nurses we might as well go home and take her to her Doctor it’s sad that we got to that point what’s the point of an emergency room If you’re going to wait hours pay for parking literally for nothing! Wasted our sleep time & money because I had to call in to work. I’m so upset I’m even thinking about finding a new pediatrician We want nothing to do with Texas Children out child is still in the same condition and we have to wait 3 more hours before we can even call her doctor because of the lack of service of this “emergency room”

Robert Oviedo

Very By the fast

Claudia Dominguez-Miller

DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL. YOU WILL BE OVERCHARGED AND YOUR FUNDS WILL BE MISAPPROPRIATED. Unfortunately the billing department is the worst I have ever dealt with out of any institution and they will over estimate your total cost and when you have overpaid will move the funds elsewhere to different accounts and never ever refund it. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS HOSPITAL AGAIN. Here I come Memorial Hermann Children's Hospital. At least they are honest.

Muhammad Abbas

The staff was wonderful but we had to wait from 11pm till 6.30am in ER to be able to see a doctor. 8 friggin hours of wait. They had just 2 doctors for close to 300 patients. Crazy. If this is the epitome of health services , they should just let better administrators manage the hospital.

Nidal Daou

I cannot say enough about this wonderful hospital. Every single person we encountered, from the parking guides to the receptionists, to the nurses, clerks, and doctors - every one was so kind, professional, courteous, competent, and compassionate. It's never easy to take your child for a doctor's office, especially not when they have special needs, but this was truly the easiest, most fulfilling, and all-around best experience we've had at a medical facility ever!

Howie Wonders

ER directions: from Holcombe go north on Fannin. Approximately 750 feet from Holcombe. There is a ground level sign that says Texas Children's ER. There is a parking garage right there but I'd personally just pay the $2 extra (approximate) to have valet parking it for me.

Mariam Seham

Amazingly nice doctors and nurses. They explained everything to me and my son and they had amazing bedside manner. The kept his water full and anything he needed he had. This hospital is one u can comfortably trust with your child. Thanks for all of you guys!

Amy Guerrero

Takes way to long to get seen as an emergency patient my daughter was there 12/4/18 we waited for 5 hours just to get passed back to a room meanwhile my daughter has to go threw stomach pain and throwing up none stop. Horrible experience wouldn't recommend to anyone.

nancy garcia

What happened to that wonderful people ..its 2019 its for getting better not going backwards.really sad!!!

S Kieschnick

Though it is expensive, the quality of the MRI's and x-rays are much better. We have gotten MRI's elsewhere that do not show things that the image centers here show. The staff is just incredible as well. We have to come back every year since my son had heart surgery as a baby, and we would not put his heart in any one else's care. They take their time and truly care for the kids that come thru and really look out for the best interest of the child. This is our 9th year coming back. Love our cardiologist, Dr. Keila N. Lopez, always friendly and caring!!

Kiara Bettencourt

My 6 month old son died because of how horrible this hospital is. He had been in this hospital several times for different reasons and the main problem we encountered... None of the doctors could figure out what was going on with him and didn't care enough to try and figure it out. He came in the first time with low oxygen sat levels, put him on oxygen, it got better, took him off, back to the same problem. Since they couldn't figure out why they just referred him to a specialist and sent him home with low oxygen levels .He was 2 months old. At 4 months old he had brain surgery, and during his stay his oxygen levels kept dropping. Doctors couldn't figure out why, did nothing about it, and sent him home. We visited other specialists within TCH about his issues throughout his short life... No one could figure out what was wrong. At 6 months he was having some strange symptoms that were concerning, we went in and all they could focus on was the shunt from brain surgery. Made us wait for hours in the ER, would never allow him to eat except sugar water from a pacifier to help him stop crying. Not even 5 minutes of nursing!!! We got there at about 9 am and it wasn't till about 3pm that a different Dr came in to look at him... Maybe the only good Dr in the hospital. She asked different questions, thought outside of the box and ordered an EKG. They checked and discovered he had an enlarged heart and needed a heart transplant immediately. This had been his issue from the beginning but not one Dr took the time to check his heart out in all his many visits prior despite the same symptomsn, no matter how much I pushed them to try something else. No one listened and treated me like an idiot, over worried mother. They "rushed" him to the PICU because they realized how sick he really was. It was too late. He died at 6:30. These doctors don't care. TCH is lots of waiting, sending you home even if your baby is still sick, no answers. It was one long nightmare of negligence that resulted in the death of my child. Avoid this hospital at all costs!!!

Roseanne N. Pleasant

My husband was born at TCH with Complex Congenital Heart Disease and has been going to TCH his whole life. Over the years we have had great experiences. Love the staff.

Robert Guill

My wife is here now. I am so impressed with the Nurses and the Doctors. They are awesome and care about there patients. Other than the food that is ordered which has been an ongoing issue, this is a wonderful place. When I go home I can sleep and rest knowning they are taking care of my wife and my unborn baby girl.

Kate Flournoy

It isn't so dirty and outdated. I have a two year and I didn't want her to touch anything. The floors looked like the hadn't been cleaned in a while, the receptionist was rude, and the wait time was unreasonably long. Wish there was a better alternative in houston

aWESome

Everything about this place is awesome! We had an amazing surgeon and the waiting rooms with toys, TV's, game area for kids,... really helped. Thank you all!

Tramica Thomas

Dr Sarah Judd was EXTREMELY RUDE!!! She expressed no empathy for my Daughter! She was rude and in a hurry to get to the next patient in the ER! PLEASE TEACH THIS MD TO BE MORE EMPATHETIC!!!! The charge nurse Matt was awesome! He was EMPATHETIC and explained everything! What a great nurse

Jesse Fields

Most horrible place I have ever visited..over 6 hr waiting time to see my child smh

J Quint00

Worst ER in the history of ERs and I have been to many different ERs across the nation being a veteran. The nurses talk and complain in front of patients. They show no real concern. This generation of nurses of doctors have really gone down hill. They lack empathy and and don’t mind showing it. Since a lot of minorities come to this ER they feel they really don’t need to have any. Ppl should really start filing complaints with this hospital and recording the dysfunction in the hospital because it really is disturbing how careless they are for these sick or injured children.

syrup

My son would have lost his life if it wasn't for Texas children's.. I believe they are Angel's working as drs and nurses.. were there every month for the endocrine department and I wouldn't go anywhere else..

Natalee Chase

It was amazing! Very great place for me. They are very nice

Andrew Lee

Best doctors and nurses in the world. Excellent bedside manners and world leading research.

They aren't good at diagnosis unless it's a cookie-cutter disease. That's disappointing. But for plenty of people, I'm sure they do fine. The nurses are sweet and caring -- doctors are a bit lackluster, yet nice. The rooms do not have refrigerators, which is very problematic for people who are here for one week+ and who can substitute abhorrent hospital food to their child. The food they deliver to children in room is horrible -- shameful. It's worse or on level with a poorly funded public school cafeteria. Over cooked veggies, sugary fruit juices, microwave spaghetti, rubber chicken meat, salad chicken smells OLD, yucky macaroni and tasteless fruit.. It's endless. An important part of recovery is nutrition. On paper maybe this hospital "food" is adequate, but in reality the child is not getting much nutrition. Someone who heads Houston charities should send more funds to this hospital or provide the option of outside catering for a SMALL fee.

The Reviews is true, the staff is rude. We Waited nurse 30 minutes at least to have the vaccines, I went out two times to see where she is. She is unhappy when she came back. The third time I waited 30 minutes for the Dr Ho. By the way, Dr Ho doesn’t speak Chinese , his assistant she speaks, but she has limited vocabulary in Chinese. We pay so much money to visit the Doctor is not for fun. We really worry our baby. This is my third visit. Bad experience.

The staff at Fall Creek are the rudest people that i have ever encountered at Humble Pediatrics. Telling me i have to stay with a Dr. that I am uncomfortable with. I will transfer to another Dr.s office before i go back to see the Dr. that I am uncomfortable with. This still is America and I will choose the Dr. I please not the one they tell me i have to see. I hope they fire all the staff and start over with some new ones. I have been a patient of Humble pediatrics since 1981 and this office is the worst on staff. And i will change Dr.s quicker than you can say Texas Children affiliated

These people are wonderfully professional, the building is unbelievably beautiful, the whole nightmare of OHS for our 4 year old child that we had dreaded so much COULDN’T have gone any better! Our very special thanks to Dr Binsalamah-God used you to perform a miracle of healing for our little Asher.

Nurses at 2 in the morning are nonchalant about the meaning that you're there my baby had a fever and all they did was quickly run the insurance information and send me a picture of a waiting room that is over capacitated full of more sick and germy kids and bad attitudes from the people to the staff even with me telling them that I know my child she's not this way normally that she's sick they went ahead and try to discharge me because they wanted the fever to be more than a hundred and four on a one-year-old so after making a complaint to one of the nurses the nurse took it upon herself to take the temperature and seen that my daughter was indeed in that parameter and now they had to do a urine sample mind you have already been here 6 hours now I have to sit here another hour or so for the test results to get back for something that I had just told them and they decided to try to discharge all the people that was inside of the waiting room to get the capacity level down if in fact this is a hospital for children they should take more caution and care for children a fever can Skyrocket at any moment and with me sitting here for 6 hours that's exactly what happened because no one had checked it since I have been here at 1 this morning. Just check it at 7 this morning to see

Unless you’ve worked at a emergency dept, have a medical background and have patience... a lot of people don’t understand how an emergency department works. Brought my son 10 yrs ago & my daughter a few weeks ago, and with each time I have no complaints! Thank you staff for everything! A lot of y’all hard work goes unrecognized, thanks again.

Yesenia Ruiz

Really good staff.. the doctors and nurses are dedicated to their jobs they always were with good attitudes and so professional ready to solve the problem, with no doubt they are the best thank you for saving my little brother

Very quick and attentive to my son when I had to take him in to the ER. They made sure I understood what was going on with him and how they were going to move forward with helping him get well BEFORE they proceeded with treatment. They were available to answer all questions no matter how many times I asked. My sons procedure was least invasive and successful. Thanks to the team of doctors and nurses at this hospital!

My son was on a car accident , hit his head in the window, he was complaining of a headache, I decided to bring him to TCH ER, you would think a concussion after an accident would be considered a priority. We waited over 4 hours in the waiting room to be seen by a physician.

Really bad experience it took 4 hours for a room also i took my 18 months old baby with fever, cold very sick they told me was a simple cold. Next day i took my baby for his shots to his pediatrician my baby still with fever they did some test and they told me that my baby has the FLU... really they couldn't do that test at the texas children's hospital.!! My baby could have die just because they thought it was a simple cold didn't do any test to him. I am very angry this is supposed to be the best hospital for kids they need to take everything serious They are putting our little ones lives in danger.

This place was awesome to my son. The staff members are sweet compassionate and yet still upfront and direct about what’s going on with your child. They made a scary situation as comfortable as could be expected . Great Hospital wonderful Doctors, nurses and staff.

My brother was i there to get surgery and once we got there they were very nice and they took him into surgery. Before he went into surgery this doctor was super nice and sweat with my brother and me and my mom. I am very thank full for all of ya doctors who helped my brother thank you so much.

Amazing structure. Everyone works together to make it work. Parking people, nurses, doctors and volunteers. Great place.

Took my son on 9-24-2019 with high fever, rash on his face and petechiae on his legs.i explained my sons condition and one of the intake nurses was concerned but another nurse refused to listen to anything i had to say just told other nurse it was normal and to give him 2 tylenol and for us to wait in lobby and to check if symptoms were normal in a couple of hours kept trying to explain my sons condition but was ignored and nurse didn't bother looking at my sons chart i left feeling helpless unable to get help for my son i took my son to a different hospital and they were able to figure out what was wrong with him my son had to be hospitalized for treatment and was in the hospital for almost 2 weeks Texas childrens is a great hospital but has some bad intake nurses that don't care or listen i am glad the other hospital i went to was able to save my sons life worst experience

As a visitor, I was impressed by what Texas Children's Hospital had to offer. We visited a friend & his family. The hospital provided an underground parking for convenience. The facility was clean, welcoming, and well-designed. The nursing staff was friendly and helpful. Our friend's hospital room was comfortable, and based on their story, they have been receiving the best care. We're glad to hear that, and we're thankful for how they've been served well by the healthcare teams at Texas Children's Hospital. A tip for visitors: Do check the hospital's website for advice & instructions before you visit.

They have been taking Excellent care of my Grandson!

Look for the possibility of obtaining treatment for my son's rare condition represented by a change in the tango2 gene.

I must say I am really disappointed with this hospital I don't even know how they got 4 stars. I brought my daughter to the emergency room tonight for breathing problems and the staff acted like it was not a care in the world, mind you it's an emergency room show some compassion staff had horrible attitudes. Never asked me if my daughter was ok said " she looks fine" rushed us to the section where they get your payment info instead of getting a room for my child. Terrible hospital!!

Sara Habetz

Texas Children's is the ChickFilA of hospitals. They go above and beyond to take care of my complex care child. We drive over two hours for her specialist visits because they are just that good. Everyone we encounter, from the cleaning staff to the physicians are kind and friendly. My daughter receives top notch care from multiple specialist services. TCH is head and shoulders above every other hospital I've ever encountered.

Chris Smith

Such a cool area in the medical center

My friend had cancer and went to Texas Children's Hospital. From what I've seen from coming to visit her, the nurses and doctors are all very nice and my friend loves all of them. I am so grateful for the care she has gotten here. Thank you Texas Children's Hospital!

Today I reached 30 minutes late with my child due to unavoidable circumstances. I was told that I am only allowed to be late 15 minutes. The appointment was canceled. I would have been okay with that. But previouly I reached on time and have had to wait for upto 45 minutes to 1 hour even after reaching before the appointment time. How is that fair???

Maribel Ortiz

I was there 9/30. Got there at 11pm. Left at 4am 10/01. I spent most of the time in the waiting room spent 20 minutes in the room. The nurse was really nice, but the doctor and the nurses up at the desk that register you were horrible. The doctor went and and told me she has a virus didn’t even touch her or check her. Left. Came back looked at her throat listened to her heart and that’s it. Gave her Motrin and sent her home. So I still have a toddler with diahrria, and fever that went somewhat down buts back up. So what’s the point in paying if you sent her home the same way I took her in fever it’s the 4th day now!

Melissa Espinal

They did not take care of my 4-year-old son, because he did not have insurance and we did not have the 300 dollars they wanted, MY son had a fever and they still let him go without receiving any attention from the hospital. They do not respect the laws of the state of texas

Juan Samaron

It was a wonderful experience until the billing became an issue. Thank you to Ivonne in the billing Dept for following up on my issue and helping me get it resolved!!! Your the best!! Thank you Norma in the family advocacy Dept! Thank you so much for such a quick response to my voicemail!!!

PhilBar325

They do great work to get kids better. They treat as part of the team. The hospital is full of strong people that love kids.

Daniela Allison

Patient care is not so good here...

AngieLaa J-Williams

Truly great service and very kind workers to make any health situation better.

Aimee Gibbs

This hospitals billing department continues to report medical procedures on my personal "my chart" from patients that are not me. Meaning, I can see medical procedures being completed on other people. Maybe the hospital is trying to double bill insurance companies? It makes me wonder if other people can see my private information? I have contacted the billing department MANY times, and have reminded them that this is a HIPAA violation, yet this keeps happening. The nurses and most doctors are pretty great, but the billing and "risk management/legal" department are worse than Comcast... I suppose my next step is to report the violation. I guess i'll need to figure that out.

Daniel Gildersleeve

Been here twice in past month with two different kids for two completely different treatments; one Emergency Room, the other a scheduled appointment. Both experiences exceeded my expectations in 1) customer service, 2) patient care, 3) facilities, and 4) staff knowledge, skill, and professionalism. Thank you Texas Children's! Not only did you care for our kids, but you also made our own parent stress levels a lot more manageable!

Avoid this place at all costs for the following reasons: 1. Very expensive. 2. Mediocre quality of care. 3. Parking. 4. Time. My daughter was having an X-Ray done and an appointment to verify her neck had no deformed bones (she has a case of torticollis, twisting of neck). At any other imagining center in the city, an X-Ray will cost you between $100-$250. A typical new patient visit to a specialist doctor is about $150-200. At Texas Children's Hospital, the X-Ray costs you $625 and the doctor visit $367. After the traumatizing to the child X-Ray, and 2 hours into the "appointment", no parking was available within 1/2 mile on a weekday in the middle of the day, the doctor's appointment consisted of 5 minutes, looks good no bone issues. We had to insist the doctor at least feel the large nodule that was as hard as a bone on her neck. We were after all seeing you for your expertise, years of school, years of residency, and years of experience. There is no parking at this hospital. Even if you are there in the middle of the day, the greatest challenge is finding a parking spot. For this visit, we needed to park in another garage over a 1/2 mile away. A typical doctor's appointment should take you no more than 1 hour of your time (travel, parking, waiting, and appointment). This endeavor to Texas Children's hospital took 3 hours. 3 hours for a 5 minute doctor appointment and a 5 minute X-ray. At Texas Children's Hospital you can be sure to pay three times the cost for the same service provided at any other hospital. Most hospitals will negotiate a lower bill with you when you ask, but not at Texas Children's Hospital where you can be sure to get expensive and mediocre service, all while wasting your time. Avoid this hospital at all costs.

I JUST GOT PROFILED BECAUSE THEY THOUGHT I WAS ABUSING MY STEPSON. THEY ARE MESSY PEOPLE. I HAVE NEVER BEEN UNCOMFORTABLE AND UPSET. I LOVE MY SON WITH ALL MY HEART AND WILL NOT BE RETURNING EVER. THATS THE MESSED UP PART. THE STAFF WAS UNPROFESSIONAL AND DRAMA STARTERS. IF I WAS WHITE EVERYTHING WOULD HAVE BEEN OK!!! PLEASE BE ADVISED I REALLY WANTED TO GO OFF IN THERE. THE SOCIAL WORKERS ACT SO FAKE. YOU GUYS WERE TRYING TO TAKE KIDS AWAY AND FOR WHAT BECAUSE I WAS PLAYING WITH MY SON!!! DONT WORRY IM GOING TO PULL UP AGAIN!!!

Jean Cason

BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU SET UP A PAYMENT PLAN WITH THEM THEY DO NOT HONOR IT! THEY TURNED ME OVER TO COLLECTIONS AT CHRISTMAS TIME!! AFTER MAKING PAYMENTS AS AGREED FOR A YEAR!!

Gerald Richardson
