Came in with swelled jaw due to two teeth. Drs & nurses were sweet as can be. Great bedside manner. They were waiting to take me to a room before I was registered. I hate the Athens hospital but etowah has everything you need in a hospital. Thank you to those working on 3-3-17 @ 4pm!!!

I would not recommend going to this hospital to anyone, especially for an emergency, after the way I was treated. While most dentists were on Fourth of July vacation for a week, I had swelling and pain from my upper left first molar. Knowing that I'd need antibiotics for the infection while waiting for the dentist to come back from vacation, I went to the Emergency Room.. The nurse that took my information learned that I had been using RamsUSA for my dental needs because I dont have dental insurance and that I'm trying to quit smoking.. She then went on an impromptu speech about my needing to quit smoking and get my priorities in order. She berated me for using the free clinic for my dental care and being unable to pay while having tattoos. She actually grabbed my arm where my tattoo(that I got ten years ago)is as she said it. "I hate seeing people who can buy cigarettes and tattoos but refuse to pay for their dental care. Its time to reevaluate your priorities!" I was very nice and just let her fluff her own ego as she was clearly treating her opinions of me and not myself the patient.. The doctor was very nice and discussed which insurance options would be better for this area as most Doctors refuse my insurance.. I did not tell them that I'm a certified dental assistant who became a stay at home mother.. Quite frankly, I was extremely put off by the way this woman talked to me.. Frazzled and upset to say the least. I left so quickly that while sitting in my car regrouping from the ordeal I had just endured, my phone rang. I forgot my wallet and need to go back in to retrieve it. Furthermore, the notes she made on my discharge papers were more of her opinions and neglectful. STOP SMOKING typed in all caps along with avoid sugary food.. I cut sugar out of my diet in January. Now as someone who has worked as a dental assistant, I can tell you that the most important directions for an abscess tooth while waiting to see a dentist would be eating soft foods, salt water rinse, and using an ice pack to reduce swelling, also to avoid heat on that area.. Here even my discharge papers were neglectful to the care that I'd need with a week before even being able to see a dentist. Luckily, thanks to my dental assisting certification and experience, I'm aware.. This is concerning for future patients, because that nurse didn't care about my well being or ability to care for the issue upon my leaving.. I woke up the next morning with her abusive and neglectful lecture replaying in my mind and the feeling of her grabbing my arm. Had a good cry before getting out of bed and gathering my antibiotics and ice pack. That nurse's choice to be so unprofessionally judgemental as to verbal berate a patient based on her assumptions and neglect their immediate needs shows that its time for her to find a new profession..

You have a bladder infection. That'll be 800$. I came in with severe abdominal cramping and nausea/vomiting. I was the only person in the E.R. and it took them over an hour to tell me it was "just a bladder infection". Turns out I am pregnant. Go to Athens. They will do absolutely nothing for you here, anyway. Husband went to the ER here not long ago as well, and his appendix was about to rupture. They sent him to Athens. I wouldn't even go here for a flu shot.

My wife and I settled with a attorney on a set amount and paid and they got another attorney and trying again. Now it's our turn for a lawsuit. This hospital and all the people that work in billing are part of the largest scale rip-off. Charging insurance and charging the person twice. The women up front will lie and take your money and tell you that you owe nothing and send you a bill in a few weeks for things insurance paid. Someone here is getting rich and it's going to get caught.

I gave this " Veterinary Clinic" a single star because a negative star was impossible!! This is a joke!!! I'm the only person in the entire ER , with one wamna be musician / part time nurse playing guitar at the nurses station, a Dr that looks like a former Static X singer and can hear multiple nurses giggling and having a grand time down the hallway. I was brought here by ambulance too. Asked to go to the restroom. Guitar player unhappily disconnects the monitors an everything and leaves. If not for my boyfriend being here with me, I wouldn't have had help down the hallway or even an opportunity to ask for help. Upon our arrival back to her room and waiting several minutes, my boyfriend had to go find him to hook all the monitors back up. He didn't bother to put the bp cuff back on, ( a heart patient mind you) or even the oxygen ( which wouldn't have mattered anyway because it wasn't turned on). Just a big aggravating useless building!!!!

I cannot express my gratitude enough for the emergency room department. I just recently moved to this area and have not yet been able to schedule an appointment with a general practitioner here. Last Saturday morning I was hurting so bad I made the decision to go to the ER. Between a culmination of pain and nervousness my blood pressure was extremely high. I have had some pretty bad experiences with other emergency rooms I had been to in the past so let me say that I did NOT make the decision to even come here lightly. Because I was lost in the hallway I ended up going through the wrong door which had me go straight back through to where the ER doctor and nurses were. The doctor approached me IMMEDIATELY and guided me to triage. I was then taken straight to a room because my blood pressure was way too high but I was no longer nervous. Dr. Childress made me COMPLETELY at ease. He didn't rush me through questions, he LISTENED. He really LISTENED. He explained EVERY SINGLE THING he was going to do (and why) and he did so in a respectful way and made sure I understood. He patiently answered ALL my questions and there were a LOT. Dr. Childress is a gift to this hospital and medical field. I wish he had his own practice but I am EXTREMELY grateful he treated me that day. EVERY SINGLE ONE on staff that day was awesome. From the admitting clerk at the ER, the nurses, lab tech, CT scan tech, to housekeeping, y'all quite simply ROCK✌️ Thank you so much for treating me with RESPECT. My daughter is an RN and I know how difficult and stressful that career can be and I really wish I could remember all your names but the date was Saturday morning, July 6th. Your bosses should know what an AMAZING team they have working for them. Again I thank you Dr. Childress and ALL who were on duty that day. God bless ya'll!

My ER visit was everything you should expect from an ER. The doctor was thorough and very helpful. The nursing staff listened to me and even cut up with me at times. I will certainly come back to this ER for any emergencies me or my family have. Thank you SRMC

IF YOU'RE NOT ABOUT TO DIE, GO TO ATHENS! I went to the ER because I had fallen and hurt my arm. The dr. told me it was sprained and using it would help it heal faster. Two days later my arm was swollen and really hurt. I called back to the ER. They told me that another dr. had looked at my x-ray, and I was on a call list to tell me my arm was really fractured. To add insult to injury (literally), they sent me a huge bill and refused to work with me about the amount of the charge and payments.
