REVIEWS OF Heritage Medical Associates IN Tennessee

Love their staff at Heritage from the receptionists to the doctors. They are very thorough and knowledge, as well as extremely caring. Plan to stay with them for life!

John Smith

Staff is unprofessional, unpolite, & uneducated at times...made payments for 2 months & still sent over to collections without informing

Jan Bass

My dermatologist Kristen Stirling was phenomenal. The front desk staff and back office staff were polite, courteous and accommodating. I travel nearly 3 hours to be seen by Heritage medical Associates and it was worth the trip. I totally recommend this practice.

Catie Rocco

I've been seeing Dr. Gupta for years and she's amazing!

GHASSAN ALHUMAIDI

My appointment is 9 clock and they let me in 10:30 and that is not the first time they do that. Thay are so bad

Karen Carter

Have been with this practice since the beginning as a patient. Over the decades have had to use orthopedics outside this group, and oncologist outside this group. Heritage in comparison is top notch. Our Primary care doctor here truly does Care, and works to get me well.

Nashville DJ

Pay your bill on time or make arrangements to pay; be transparent and inquisitive; be nice and keep your appointments and--I suggest, a paper trail--and everything should be fine. Family and I have had multiple dealings with Heritage and we've never had a problem, in fact, they've been very pleasant to work with.

Awful awful awful! The staff has been difficult to deal with, extremely rude and unfriendly! Avoid the 222 Medical Office Building if you can!

Marsha Burkhart

I would give a zero rating if it let me. My husband has been a patient here for several years but hen his health turned for the worst they did not care. all this office cares about is MONEY! My husband has had 2 brain surgeries and due to excessive fluid on the brain he has extreme memory lapses. The last TWO times I took him to an appt, I asked them to change his contact number to me since I have to manage his appts and drive him. I assumed someone had done their job, but then I get a letter saying they have dropped him as a patient due to a couple missed appts. (Again, they were calling his phone number which was longer being used, instead of calling me as requested). I called and asked why we didn't get a reminder call and she said the system did call. I asked what number was called and they told me my husbands number. I told the nurse that I was not getting any messages because they had still not change the number per our request when we checked out the last two times. She didn't care and just kept repeating that this wasn't the first time he missed. No DUH! He missed because YOU didn't do your job and call the proper number!! I asked to speak to someone else to explain and she flatly said, "Ma'am, the decision has been made and we don't change that once it's been made." Many reviews here that prove they only care about MONEY, not their patients. Do yourself a favor and get a doctor who actually cares about you more than getting rich. Thanks for showing your true colors when your patients need you the most. Oh and yea, all this time and never actually seen a real doctor, just nurse practitioners. But you better believe my insurance paid a doctors rate! They all ought to be ashamed, especially Taylor Hendon, who knew my husbands brain illness but still threw us out.

I need to echo other peoples concerns about how money hungry this place is. I had a receptionist lie to me about being unable to book my appointment with another Doctor unless I enrolled in a payment plan to pay off my balance. I ended up calling the other Doctor's office myself, and the person I spoke with there said they had never heard of such a thing. They literally tried to hold my health hostage for money. As far as the doctors go: I've actually loved the ones i've seen. It's a shame I can't take them with me.

Alfonzo Griffin

I called to schedule my 4 children was told they can only see two which ok I get it it's your policy, well I told the girl I thought that was kind of a silly policy because parents have to come back on different days but whatever. Scheduled my boys for one day and girls for a week later. I thought everything was fine even asked the lady if she needed anything else from me she said no. Well I guess she did not like my feed back because the next thing I know I am getting a phone call from some lady who was very rude and was being very smart mouthed with me. When I tried to call corporate to file a complaint I was transferred to no where extensions, calling back they acted like they did not know who I needed to speak with and so I left voicemail on three separate voicemails. I was bothered by the actions of both the girl at the office for her passive aggressiveness instead of saying she had an issue with my feedback and then the smart mouth jerk from billing, that after 14 years my kids are leaving their pediatrician. Hopefully he will switch to a better office but for now I just cannot deal with the nastiness.

Show up on time and you will be attended in a prompt manner. Dr. Lewis is a great guy and I always enjoy seeing him. He is to the point and never wastes my time or his own.

Buddy Sadler

Have been a patient of Dr. Clark Ray for a couple of years. Have had no extended waits I considered out of line. The ladies at the sign in desk have always been friendly and helpful. The nurses and assistants when I'm called back are friendly and smiling when greeting me. (how can you smile all day at sick people?) Dr Ray is a very sincere caring, thoughtful and interested in my health and making/keeping me healthy. He is also a Christian...which is obvious. I've been a patient of Heritage Medical for at least 20 years and changed to Dr. Ray after my previous physician went a different direction.

Matthew Rosenberger

This clinic asked for payment upfront. This is not compliant with the health insurance contract that I have for my health plan. I am shocked that I had to pay for my office visit prior to seeing he doctor, when in fact I have insurance and the doctor is in network for my plan. This is not right in so many ways. Luckily, I Am employed at my health insurance company to understand this is not a apart of normal contracting process nor is it ethical to the patient.

Noelle Fede

I started with heritage at the beginning of my pregnancy then had to switch at 20 weeks. Dr. Lipsitz was nice. It was not the doctors or nurses but the front desk and the billing department. They wanted our whole deductible upfront and they were not willing to work with us in the least bit (which was more the issue) They were very rude, to the point of which I cried in their waiting room after she handed me their phone to discuss my finances aloud IN the waiting room in front of a bunch of people and then was told I could not see the doctor for my prenatal visit. After we switched doctors we never heard anything from them expect about money. Would not recommend.

Many of the Drs are excellent however the billing department is horrible. Stay away from Heritage!!!

Nathan Moore

Provided an estimate after running it with our insurance company and then invoiced for 25% more. None of the procedures or services were changed after the estimate, and they refused to correct the bill.

Lela Cunningham

Wonderful place, outstanding doctors, very compassionate. Dr. Crk Ray is the best doctor I have ever know. I am a nurse and I would go nowhere else.

Julie French Strongin

Dr Smith is the nicest man.. But to wait an hour and a half for a 15 min appointment.. I just can't do that again..

My doctors at Heritage (downtown) are fabulous! I have a lot of complicated health issues and am so thankful to have a great team of physicians who work together to coordinate my care and make sure that I am receiving the best medical help available. Thank you Dr. Byrd (Rheumatologist), Dr. Lee (Dermatologist) and Dr. Smith (Allergist) for everything!

Jeanne Fawbush

Still waiting for a credit refund after repeated phone calls in the past four months!!

Britney Weisbecker

The doctor's are knowledgeable, and very nice staff. Of all the complaints I am seeing, I don't think people realize their issues are actually insurance issues and billing issues. Talk to the building manager, the doctors and staff have no power over when they can accept you and not. There are policies in place are EVERYWHERE. Doctors cannot see you and just expect you to be true to paying bills if they cant accept ypur insurance. Keep up to date with what your insurance covers and who accepts it. All insurances and doctors offices are private companies, it is best to think of it this way. My only complaint is sometimes i didnt feel as informed as id like when i wasnt sure which questions to ask, and getting ahold of them has been difficult at times. Overall i feel safe and like i am with people who know what they are doing, and dr anne rossell is very intelligent.

Aisi Diy

I really liked the experience that I had on my initial visit. I was late and the office staff was so nice. Dr Lee was extremely nice and informative. I had moles removed and the individual who numbed the area was very caring and knew when I needed a rest from the injections. I was scared about going but I am glad I chose her.

Eaamon Mangan

just called to schedule a appointment. they do not accept medicare! when offered cash was told they would refer me to another doctor! I guess they do not understand the word CASH! I guess I'll be better off some where else for sure.

Christa Cokkinias

I have always had a good experience at Heritage Medical. I have both my doctors in the same office. The staff is amazing!

Mandy Marie

I have not been able to get in here yet. They set appts based on your insurance. Since I have one kind, they cannot see me until September. I would be able get in sooner if I had a different insurance. No thanks- my health should be more important than $$$$$$. I would not have given one star but I was required to.

Scott Winslow

I have seen two doctors at HMA, both of whom are amazing. Dr. Wright and Dr. Wierum are the most competent, communicative, and collaborative medical professionals I've known. The staff is friendly, effective, and do what they promise. I have zero complaints. Parking is convenient to the building and free.

My low rating is for the doctor, not the staff. The ladies at the desk are lovely, and my interactions with nurses has always been positive. My complaints are with Dr. Amy Bono. I probably could have had warmer interactions with a robot. She seemed more interested in over the top "wellness" tests and visits rather than any actual problems. Expect to wait for up to an hour to see her, but if you miss an appointment you get a bill and a lecture , as her time is clearly so much more important that yours. There are plenty of other more experienced, more pleasant doctors in this practice beside Dr. Bono, so I would highly recommend choosing one of them instead.

My wife is 7+ months pregnant with a high risk pregnancy. Her OB is Dr. Martin. Heritage medical forced us to prepay for the cost of the birth. We are on a fixed income and getting that much money was difficult but we were able to do it. We paid the money at one of my wife's checkups that happened to be just 4 days late on the scheduled payment. Heritage Medical gladly took the money and then immediately told us they were dropping us and banned us for life for being 4 days late; leaving my pregnant wife weaping and barely able to stand out in the hallway. She now has to scramble to find any Dr. and another Hospital in our network that can take her after already paying Heritage, and less than months away from the birth. The stress of the situation created by Heritage Medical could have put my wife into early labor and we could have lost the child. Shame on you. Callous. Greedy. What happened to your hippocratic oath?

Jennifer Loh

I called and made an appointment for my 17 year old son. In which they took ALL of our insurance information. I drive 2 hours to only be told they do not accept his secondary insurance! I offered to pay and was told they could not do that. Very incompetent personnel and office manager. Very disappointing coming from a professional office!

Quite simply the worst experience I have ever had in healthcare. Went one time to the office, they asked me if I would be ok with a high school student being present during my appointment after he was already in the room. I said no of course but I would imagine many would have difficulty saying no after the kid was already in the room. Didn't address any of my issues. Sent me for a blood test and called me to tell me I'm "good" even though not all of the tests came back and stated I would have to wait 2 months to see the doctor again. I don't want to be "good" I want to have my ailments solved. This place represents everything wrong with our healthcare system. I was there less than an hour and saw at least 2 drug reps as well, big machine healthcare at its worst. Needless to say I changed my PCP and will not be going back other than to pick up my blood test results to bring to the next doctor.

I have been visiting for years. Their doctors and specialists are the best in Nashville!

This one star is not for the specific OBGYN doctor, it's specifically for Heritage Medical. My OBGYN doctor recently switched to this group. When I found out she was headed over here, I instantly looked at reviews and after looking at them I became very skeptical of what the outcome may be. Being almost 35 weeks pregnant, I figured best thing I could do at this point was just stick with my current doctor and just see how it goes despite what I had in mind. Upon leaving my last appointment at her old office, 2 weeks ago, I obviously had my records transferred to follow her. I called Heritage that same day and made my 2 week follow up appointment and the lady verified insurance, sent out my new patient papers, explains directions, where to park, etc. Not to mention I was only given one appointment option day and time which I took that without hesitation. I called last week to see if anything had opened up for earlier that day (my appt was suppose to be tomorrow) the lady told me no that the only other option would be next week on ONE DAY and ONE TIME. Well, at this point I see where this is going. Ok, no worries, I'll just keep what appointment I've got. This week, 2 days before my appointment day, I call to confirm to be told I don't have an appointment. I AM IN DISBELIEF. This has happened and I haven't even stepped foot in the building!! Fortunately and gratefully, I have an appt else where. To be this far along and pregnant, this should be the last thing I needed to stress about! If you go here I wish you the best and hope you have a much better experience.

I was treated awfully at the front desk and also cussed out by Crystal of the front desk staff out in the parking lot as she tailgated me and swerved and honked behind me before my appointment in october 2017 ...ive attempted to report this many times , the office manager wont return my calls ( this occoured at dr. Bonvuisseutos office ) she is an amazing doctor..but her front desk staff belongs greeting the door at walmart..

It's really hard to talk to the nurse and they messed up my Ultrasound results.

I agree with most of the posts here. This place is money hungry. I've been seeing Dr. Joseph Parker for several years regarding my ulcerative colitis and have had numerous colonoscopies. Almost two years ago I was sent to court and accrued over $900 in fees. I worked with the lawyers office paying $50 monthly to pay off the balance. Recently I received a phone call regarding this same date of service stating I owed 284 ADDITIONAL DOLLARS. I asked to be set up on a payment arrangement paying $20 monthly and was told the arrangement couldn't be accepted.

Leisha Underhill

Very poor experience. Did not return any calls after 3 phone calls. 2 weeks of waiting for a call asked my GP to call. They advised they did not wish to see me and my referral was not needed. Very rude and unprofessional way of dealing with people; especially when they are having legitimate health issues. Take my advice get a referral elsewhere!!!

Dennis

The people at Home Medical my you feel like the most important person in the world. When I left I felt like I was going to miss them. It restores your faith in humanity in time when people don't have much time because everything is so busy. Love people not money.

Ryan Bouch

Exceptional service. An institution that wants to actually listen and help their patients. Well done

Douglas Fulmer

I had a problem with the office in Mt. Juliet who recommended an x-ray that seemed unrelated to my problem. When I asked why, they refused to tell me unless I paid for another office visit. When I objected and refused to come in for such a visit they dropped me as a patient after 10 years. The main office had two different people talk to me at length when I complained to them both promising to check into what happened and get back to me. I never heard from either of them again. Zero accountability.

Today my wife and I had an appointment and they called and left a voicemail for my wife that our appointment was cancelled because we are on Tenncare. The problem is, we've been on my company insurance for over a year and a half and have been to this doctor 3 times already. So instead of seeing us one more time so we don't have to miss work for nothing, we are told we can't come and no one seemed at all to care about customer service. My wife loves her doctor but the office staff is so unfriendly we probably won't return. The other comments on here seem to follow the same experience we had so apparently not just one bad day for them.

Brenda Ervin

Very clean, nice looking place. Friendly efficient staff. Very professional yet, comfortable.

Corinne Reynolds

The wait time is SO LONG. Yesterday. I waited for an hour and a half for a simple consult. This morning, I waited OVER an hour for a lab sheet (one piece of paper). Scheduled my appointment to pick up the sheet at 7:45 am... Was the first one in the office. Then 15 women were seen by the time they "got around to me" at 8:50. Mind you, I was not allowed to eat or drink for 12 hours before then, and they didnt really seem to care. I wish i could go somewhere else. This whole experience was terrible.

Rhonda Baldwin

My wonderful Dr Byrd . He will find out what's wrong .

Doug Leins

Great doctor, good experiences when ill and for checkups.

Austin Selby

This is not for their pediatricians...we love them...however...my wife went in for what we thought was a physical covered by our insurance. Then they call us asking for $324 saying it was a new patient visit...so less than 5 minutes of chat...$300...full physical, covered...i get the money hungry stuff now. Absurd.

Amy Shackelford

I had an appointment with Dr. Maune, and she was fantastic. Facility and people were also nice. The scheduling is a nightmare. They must be seventy understaffed and systems lacking. I had to cancel an appointment for a procedure and tried to reschedule with no luck. Got a phone call to confirm my follow up appointment for a procedure I never had. Tried to reschedule with that person, but she was just confused bc the info in the system said I had a procedure that I hadn’t. Said I had to talk to someone else. No one ever called back. I’ve called and tried to reschedule at least 15 times, and someone always has to pass a note to a different scheduler who never calls back. That’s IF I talk to someone - most of the time, I have to leave a message. I guess I need to find a doctor with another practice even tho I liked Dr. Maune so much...

John Maddox

Was a patient post brain surgery. They took care of me and even helped me with payment arrangements!

Kela Love

I was sent here due to fibroids by my PCP. Dr. Joy Cox has a very bad bedside manner, all she talked about how good she was at surgery. She didn't try to educate me about fibroids, show empathy or anything to make me comfortable with HER performing surgery on me. Didn't want to give me other options, I had to pretty much force her to refer me to another specialist. Once I talked to the specialist I was no longer comfortable with Dr. Cox and asked her to release to another physician in the practice whom I heard better things about. She would not, I told her I would not be coming to any subsequent appts (previously scheduled). Still got a text message trying to confirm appt I had already told her to cancel. I responded via text that I would not be attending the appointment. Months later I get a bill for a missed appointment and told by the billing department that their text system doesnt always register we responses so I needed to provide them the text after 5 months. They take no accountability at this practice, why use a faulty system and penalize the patient when you know that it is faulty?

Honestly the dermatologist I saw was helpful and informed. However, I am at wit's end with this corporate healthcare environment- just spent 20 minutes on the phone attempting to pay my bill. At no point would it let me speak with a human being, and after about 10 minutes of mixed intervals of phone ringing and hold music I got put to voicemail. They insist you use the "follow my health" website to make your appointments, pay bills, etc- except the system is terrible. When I attempt to pay this bill I am directed to a blank page that only says "billing" at the top. So when I inevitably have trouble with the bug-filled online system, I can't actually contact anyone in the office via phone- you get stuck in a loop of computer voices that will eventually tell you to use the website and hang up. I'd much rather have a health care provider I can call and be treated like a person- This place has great healthcare workers but a terrible business model.

Sharharazarht Norton

I have been a patient with Heritage for almost 5 years and I used to see them for everything. I really liked doing everything at one place and I liked all my doctors. Dr. Anne Rossell was my gynecologist at the time and one day due to bleeding issues I had to have a procedure done in the office which ended up costing me $500 out of pocket. I am a single Mom working two jobs and I did not have that kind of money. At the time I had severe female issues but Dr. Rossell’s office refused to treat me. She and the billing department said I could not have a doctor treat me unless I paid the money due. I ended up finding another doctor and moved the majority of my business to Vanderbilt at 100 oaks and I love my new gynecologist. Dr. Booker is my GP and I love her. She is a very good doctor and really patient with me. However, the last 3 times that I have visited her in a year and half she has been running late. I am not talking about 10-15min late but an hour or more. Since, I work two jobs most all my doctors’ appointments are made during my lunch hour. My last appointments with her just last week she was running behind by an hour. I was late for work and had to make up the time.

I have been a patient of Dr. Scudder for 20+ years. While she personally is a great doctor, the overall Heritage Medical Associates organization is horrible to deal with! I work in healthcare and still cannot understand their bills. Additionally, they have a practice of turning you over to collections rapidly and deleting the reported amount off your current bill so you can NEVER know where you stand on outstanding balances. When you do pay these amounts, there is no way to tell whether it was credited to your account or not. Until they address these problems, I would not refer anyone to them ever. There simply are too many other good practitioners in Nashville to have to deal with billing errors.

Danielle W.

Do not use this medical group. Some of the doctors are good but it doesn't make up for the systematic problems that it has. They don't provide any written reports when they complete procedures. You will never get to speak to your doctor. This is honestly the worst medical group I have been a part of and I look forward to leaving.

I have recently been referred to Heritage in the 22nd Ave. location for specialists in Rheumatology and Ophthalmology because of a very rare autoimmune disease. I have been nothing but pleased with the experience. The staff has been helpful and courteous, and Dr.Victor Byrd and Dr. Mary Kerr have been concerned about my condition, attentive, knowledgeable, and are working to resolve my health issues. For the first time in 9 months I am confidant I finally have the right team of doctors to manage my disease.
