Most of the staff are rude and don't care. Worst hospital I've been to. I had a stroke 4 years ago. Staff just left me in lobby 40min. My daughter drive me to An Med where I got immediate care.

My friend cut his hand very badly on a table saw and this hospital treated him like royalty the nurses were a great help and the drs were hands down the best in the upstate and I would rate self regional. 10 stars it's about time a hospital treated a person like a person

I want to Thank The Doctors & Nurses of ER and Pediatrics Unit at Self Regional HealthCare in Greenwood SC for the Wonderful Care they gave my 11 month old Gran Daughter Before ,During and After her surgery on 2/18 through 2/21 2016. They are Very Loving ,Caring and Devoted group of Professionals. I appreciate so much the Extra mile they went for her in every need she had. I would especially like to thank Doctors Robinson, Rampey, Jackson , Holins and all the other Doctors who came to check on her while they were making their rounds on the floor, and Nurses Lauren, Jobeth, Trista, Tenille & Lynette as they all went Above & Beyond their care. Also I want to thank Doctor Lee A. Patterson of Lakeland Orthopaedics for an Exquisit job he did for her Before, During and after her surgery. Thank you all so so much. You are all a Blessing from God.

They don't care. Period. Heaven forbid you have no insurance or, dare I say, on Medicaid. You are treated as an inconvenient annoyance. My husband died in October. The only good thing I can say is that I was able to get him out of there and into Hospice where he could die with dignity and compassion. I thank God I never have to go to Self Regional again....I'd rather crawl to Abbeville while bleeding to death.

I've had 2 baby deliveries, 1 d&c, hernia repair surgery! This is a excellent hospital. The doctors and nurses are great! I wish I could give this hospital a 10!! I will always love self Regional. I still owe Self a lot of money but they treat me great! Lol. So I don't know why the other posts are so harsh.

Don’t go to this hospital if you can help it! The quality has declined indeed. The billing department doesn’t file your insurance company like they’re supposed to. Go to Greenville, Anderson or Augusta. One of my friends had an aunt who died on the operating table at Self.

I relocated to Greenwood several years ago and have just given birth, through cesarean. The team here was on time, very quick, knowledgeable, extremely caring, went above and beyond. Consistently supportive, but giving me space if needed. The hospital is nice and clean. You can tell everyone loves what they do here. They are very team-oriented with assisting one another, something large hospitals tend to lack. I give them 5 stars for the birthing center!

Unfortunately, I have been to several hospitals in my life time. However, my recent stay at Self was the most pleasant I have ever experienced. From the first moment I entered the ER, rather scared I might add, I went to a nice gentleman at a desk who directed me to the check-in window. From there I was handled with expediency. I just can't say enough for the care and service I received during my 5 day stay. Every shift nurse and assistant were attentive and caring. Housekeeping and food service were friendly and helpful. If by chance I ever need to go back to a hospital, I would hope it would be on the 7th floor of Self. Again, my thanks to your entire staff for the attentive care I received. My Aunt passed away here in the ICU. When I visited her the elevators were dirty and rusty. No Psychians or Doctors were around but the nurses. My Uncle is also in this hospital. The both live (or lived) in Saluda.

Dr Karel found a tumor in my husband's back as well as arthritis and bulging disc. Dr Karel as well as Dr Scott and Dr Gunter went above and beyond taking care of my husband and getting his pain under control. Another hospital and several doctors in Greenville had seen him for over a year as a patient. Each said there was nothing wrong with his back. Thank you Self Regional for being so caring and compassionate and determined to find out what was causing my husband to be in so much pain. The physicians, nurses, techs, and housekeepers were all wonderful. Thank you again for a job well done. The Hudson's.

As a nursing student at Lander, I would never EVER recommend anyone coming to Self Regionals ER. The staff, not all but most, are extremely rude and blows you off. The ER is beyond slow, even if you come in for minor things, and you can just tell that the registration staff is judging you and finds you as a disturbance. Overall, the staff looks like they hate their job and take out their frustration out on the patients.

Siting in the ER for going on 7 hours and 1 CAT scan, 3 visits from a nurse, and 1 pain shot. What kind of service do you call this? If it were a restaurant I would not give a tip but I bet the bill will reflect every minute we stay here. Still waiting for the results. What the heck!!!!

My friend was taken by ambulance to Self Regional Emergency Room Vomiting/Diarrhea, Dehydrated. The Paramedics placed her in a wheel chair at 8:28pm. My friend had to call a cab and pay $30 to get home at 4am the next morning. She was given a shot for nausea and a stool sample was taken. No Glucose Nothing. That's so pitiful. I pray the staff get it together.

A family member went to the ER with a new, critical heart condition and was treated quickly, correctly, and with professionalism and respect. Couldn't have asked for more. For whole 3 day hospital stay, all hospital staff were helpful, kind, and right on target with the chosen treatment. One thing I noticed that was different from the Atlanta hospitals where we moved from is that they also took the time to explain things in great detail, and we appreciated that.

This is the second time we have come in to the ER in the last month and both times we have sat on the waiting room for 2 hours or more and then have sat in a room waiting and waiting this time 3-3/4 hours for them to bring in a Gatorade to go get a scan done and then they say we have to wait an hour after she drinks it we could of drank it 3 hrs ago. This place is a joke we won't come back here again I will drive an hour and 15 minutes to Augusta to a hospital. The turn around time here is ridiculous. 11 hrs in ER and it would of been longer had we not continued to check on getting test done that they were supposed to be doing

0 stars. Doctor put down neurological instead of stroke. A stroke is neurological,but still. Not "a little one" either and I'm sure catscan didn't look "really good". Nurses at least friendly that's your only plus. Lawsuits if wanted.

Only at this hospital do they let someone that Is bleeding every where sit down in the waiting room and wait to be seen. Then on top of It you tell them you might be pregnant and they don't even bother to give you a pregnancy test.

Can't say I loved it.. (Who loves being in the hospital?) Couldn't have had better care. Nurses , docotors and everyone was top of the line. Would highly recommend this hospital.

I am a highly educated, cultured, retired professional woman age 70. I have had anxiety disorder my entire life One day I suffered difficulty breathing, lack of balance and pounding heart. In the ambulance the emts diagnosed severe anxiety attack and panic attacks. After 3 hours waiting in the er, a do stopped in. He read my report. He told me that Anxiety disorders were against his beliefs and he did not write scripts. I asked for another doctor.no. I was released. The next month I fell and broke my hip. Please do not let this happen to another.

Alicia the so called RN should invest in finding a new career because nursing doesn't fit her at all.She has no personality, she rude, don't speak when she come into a room, she's a lazy excuse for a nurse, in fact this is the worse hospital ever! I understand that the emergency room is a very busy place with a multitude of problems and issues, but that does not mean a person should not get top quality care. They treat you like a number not like a patient. I have been to the self regional er room more than a few times, and I definitely have to question a hospital that no matter what I go in for tells me that I have a UTI. They don't seem to want to help people, they don't want to take the time to see what the real issue is. In a smaller town where there is only one hospital and one er it is definitely discouraging to know you won't get adequate care. In non life threatening instances it is definitely worth your time to go anywhere else. Worst hospital I have been to. When a person is sick or hurting they want to know that the dr that is seeing them is going to be comforting and thorough, unfortunately you will not get this at self regional.

Can't find correct lot to Park in easily. Staff extremely slow and rude except the security.. They were awesome at escorting us thru so many locked doors to exit. Smh

The room i am in is temperature is not working. A couple of nurses I have talked to said they will check with maintenance that was an hour ago. I am sweating and uncomfortable after a neck bone replacement. I have a neckbrass and plastic legging for blood flow . i requested another room but no one checks for availability. Help

Most of the nurses are good but everyone else is not doing their job. My dad has been in here since Saturday and it's Tuesday and they have barely done anything besides give him medicine that isn't working (even though what he has can be life threatening). If you can just go to a different hospital do it because they do not care about the people here.

I have been sitting in E.R awaiting room for 3hrs unable to breath and have asthma. Need better management of the E.R or somebody going to die waiting on care. Express care should be open 24/7 or have enough doctors to take care of the patients.

Terrible, I tried to stay off my pain meds but I have a new issue with my spine! I have Bone spurs on my vertabre, I asked for one month of my pain and anxiety meds and I was told no! If I had just tried to live without them it would be one thing but I got off them about the first of October!!! I am sick of this and will probably take my business elsewhere where I am treated with respect and not a junkie!!! That was at my Dr office!!! I went to the ER and I had to refuse to not leave so the Dr would x-ray my back!!! Laurens ER sucks!!! I have to remind myself that 50% of doctors graduated in the bottom of the class!!! I may not be the brightest crayon in the box but, you know what, I am not dumb!!!

I went to er on Saturday Sept 1 for a broken toe and needed stitches. I got there at 8pm registered in then went to triage within 5 minutes. They sent me right to x ray. I was done by 8:10 The er sucks. The hospital went on lock down would not let anyone leave or com in. After lock down was over some staff came back. I asked for a wheelchair do to my foot was swelling up more and my toe was bleeding real bad All staf left the er ti be protected they left all patients in er waiting room which I was not able to walk at all. At 10:30 PM a nurse came to bring me to the back se would not even help push the wheel chair when I got in a room I told nurse that I am not staying much longer she told me it would be 10 minutes for dr to come in cause I had x ray done hours ago. Well I waited another 45 minutes I finally walked out. The nurse looked at me see said what are you doing real rude I told her I was leaving she stayed make sure you check out. I told her why should I check out when i didn't see anyone. When i got out front the reception asked my name i told her she said you need to pay your copay i told her i better not get billed for anything so to i didn't see any one I waited hours in the lobby. I called my insurance company and told them they will not pay any bills

HORRIBLE SERVICE!! Takes 2-3 hours just to be seen and to even see a doctor. Facility is dirty and staff very rude! Greenwood needs a Change, now! This is where people are supposed to get better, not want to commit suicide. It’s the worst hospital I’ve ever been in.

I've had nothing but excellent care and doctors at Self. I've been admitted by ambulance to emergency twice and recently had surgery there. Every time I've been there I've been treated with respect and found them exceptionally competent. My husband was admitted for surgery and cared for well too so NO complaints! On the other hand if you want a comparison for hospitals then try what used to be called MCG... in Augusta, Ga. Oh dear God just let me die before going there ever again!

This the second time they sent me home in excruciating pain when they should have admitted me. The first time they sent me home with a golf ball sized infection pocket in my stomach. This time my gall bladder has taken a turn for the worse!

Can't envision a more professional, compassionate healthcare service. Dr. Haldeman and entire staff that have cared for me could not be better. Admitted here because I needed care while in the area. Greenwood is most fortunate to have this facility, that is made excellent by the people who are employed within.

I am 51 years old and have been treated for a very large amount of things in a very large number of places in the world. When I need medical attention again, I pray that I get it at Self Regional Hospital. I had to go for something very minor this morning and during my entire visit nothing went well to me. I still stand behind the good quality that I say they have though. When you put that many people in one place and there is so much illness, injuries, and or death involved the outcome will not always be what you wanted. It is a good place though.

Rather poor. They do not communicate well at all and when decision time comes around you don't get all the info you need to make the decision, and they put it all on you. The cancer center is superb, but there seems to be a "wall" between it and the rest of the hospital.

Been here for 2 hours just for 8 stitches. The staff just runs around talking to each others, or goes into another room and just forgets about you until you ask for them. Pathetic hospital

My Dad went here for surgery. No longer than 30 minutes after recovery they were trying to push him out the door. He was in excruciating pain and wasn't given any pain meds. He had a prescription and the nurse said we could get it filled. We practically had to beg her to get pain meds before he was discharged. Everyone in Pre Op was phenomenal. Just the care after surgery was bad when we hit the 4th floor. Super bad experience. I would rather drive an hour to go to Greenville Health Systems.

I found myself in this hospital after four years living in Greenwood and hearing stories like, "I'd throw my arm in a cooler and drive to Greenville before I'd go to Self Regional." I'm not an expert on good or bad medical care, I can only say that I have never been made to feel so comfortable at any hospital. The staff here is amazing. I've been here three days and just had to get some IT help and even the IT department was the best. If I must be in a hospital, this is the one for me. Every meal, although small (healthier) has been delivered promptly, all calls answered right away and all the help I need. I am truly amazed

I'm 17 and have for the past few days been trying to tell them I feel like I'm dying and it isn't getting better. They just act like I'm crazy and the don't care! They gave me probably the most dangerous and least helpful thing visteril They just want you out of there as fast as possible.

Hope you never have a patient in ICU. You can buzz the room multiple times with no response and if you happen to arrive around shift change you may never get in or even receive information about your relative. However, those who are able to have someone in the room with their patient can go and come as they please while the newcomers with no visitor already in the room wait on the door to be opened by the nurse on guard. All this security but in the middle of one of the worse flu seasons, none of the nurses wear face masks in order to protect those with weakened immune systems.

I tried to NOT give them a "star". The WORST hospital/facility ever. Care is a joke! Patient had to ASK for a bath! Then we were obligated to "tip" the CNA, which was worth every penny. Patient passed away in February 2017. NEVER a final bill notice until October (8 months later). Then sent me a "past due" statement. Billing is a NIGHTMARE! I pray that if something happens to me or my family we will be able to go to another hospital. Self cares for thereSELF'S.

The one star they don't need! I went in because my feet hurt so bad,I was seen up front the doctor told me ,my feet hurt because of the shoes I wear. He told me to take some meds. So I did that 2 months later pain is still there so I went to ghs, come to find out I have diabetic nerve pain my sugar was 183. At self they didn't even think to check my sugar.

I have been a resident in this area for four years now and have needed to avail myself to the facilities of Self Regional many times. I can't list every episode with this healthcare provider but I will sum it up as simply as I can. If you value your life or the life of a loved one, then make an effort to seek care from any physician or medical facility that is NOT in any way associated with Self Regional. Any association with Self will result in utter incompetence and total disregard for your care. Lies will be told to you about your care, lies will be told about any procedure or surgery that you in actuality may not need. Your blood work is usually lost resulting in the retaking two or three times. Claims that they have forgotten something are often used to get you to return and will result in additional fees over and over again. Be prepared if you carry a balance for money owed to Self at their Billing Dept. They will treat you without dignity or respect. You owe them money and they do not care where it comes from or how you have to get it. If for some reason there is an issue with your own insurance they will not accommodate you in any way nor try to assist you in calling your insurance to help. The Billing Dept. will tell you to your face, "I'm not calling anyone." Please don't do what I have done and that is have another surgery under Self and I am now suffering the consequences. And yes, as another wrote about MRSA. Yes,yes and yes. I'm living with it.

If I could give them less than a POOR mark, I would. I have had the displeasure of being involved with this hospital several times this year (2013). We were told conflicting stories, given conflicting diagnoses for one set of lab tests, and were lied to by the staff and the doctors. The saddest part was that the workers were giving US negative reviews about the doctors and other people who working. Here's an example of how we were lied to: My son had to stay several days at Self. Each night, he was supposed to be given 2 different medicines. On the second night, he fell asleep before 'medicine hand out' time. The nurse on duty woke him up, but only gave him 1 of his medications. He asked about the other medicine. The nurse said that she didn't see it on his chart, but she would find a doctor to ask. The next morning, my son told me, and I asked the day nurse about it. When the day nurse looked at the chart, she stated that his chart was marked that he should take both medicines each nigh. She noted that the night nurse did not mark the chart. She said she'd find out what happened and walked away. She came back with his chart and THIS TIME, the chart said "offered but refused" - which basically indicates the nurse offered him the medicine, but my son refused to take it. They changed the chart to cover up for the night nurses mistake. I know my son didn't refuse the medicine. The night nurse just didn't give it to him. I agree with most of the other reviewers. If you CAN make it to a different hospital, DO!!!

Horrible hospital!!! Heart patients wait in the lobby! Staff blows you off and dismisses your problems including doctors. I don't recommend it to anyone. Instead of adding onto the building they should focus on patient care. After all we are the reason they all have jobs.

When I delivered my baby the care I received was exceptional and, when my baby had to stay in the NICU he received amazing care from the physicians, nurses and all clinical staff who treated him. Everyone that I met helped make what could have been a very scary situation a positive one.

Rude, uncaring neglectful staff! Rude neglectful doctors IF you actually ever see one for more than 2 minutes. They do not listen at all & are nothing but annoyed by you asking questions My daughter had a vasovagal response to getting an iv, 17, never before happened, she was freaking out about it & they just absolutely ignored us! My cousin is a nurse in N.C. so I called her, she immediately explained to us what had happened & was able to get my daughter calmed down. Unacceptable medical care... or rather professional (I say that loosely) neglect!
