Do not go ANYWHERE 'Roper'. You will be charged to the Moon and double-charged to the Sun. VERY UNFAIR AND NON-TRANSPARENT.. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE, OR PAY THE PRICE, literally.

I am writing to specifically thank Yolanda who drew my blood yesterday as a pre-op procedure. Yolanda was immediately kind and friendly. She is an expert at her job. As Yolanda is a representative of Roper, I can say this personal experience with her has lowered my anxiety about my upcoming surgery. Professionalism and kindness go along way!

Went in to the ER late afternoon, it was a holiday weekend so apparently we got the B squad. They induced me into a coma because my oxygen levels were slightly less than optimal. Not kidding.. slightly less than normal. Right before they induced me I told them I had a high tolerance to sedatives, I was half awake when I got my wisdom teeth out when I was 18 so I knew, the folks at Roper completely disregarded what I warned. I have nightmares where I grab at my throat because I am flashing back to that feeling like I’m drowning & can’t claw my way to the surface while they inserted the tube down my throat & had to strap my arms down because I kept trying to pull it out...even when I was comatose. The nurses were great, my father, a surgeon, went tête-à-tête with the hospitlist to remove my tube, and the hospitalist... took it as a challenge.

If your on your death bed or need urgent medical assistant. Your better off risking your life and take the extra time to go to another ER to get help. This hospital will either make it or break it if your life is on the line. Please don't risk life over death. Doctors are Doctors. But surgeons are the real professionals. I Only learned from experience. Coming from a man with multiple injuries.( double shoulder surgery, lisfranc ligament dislocation, separated shoulder, knee surgery, umbilical hernia surgery, hematoma head injury, multiple facial stitches which the female ER doctor stitched for me which was absolutely horrible and made my face forever not the same, and last Mersa that almost left my hand on border line amputated because of misdiagnosis because they say it's in my head.) I know I'm a walking injury but I'm definitely not a hypochondriac. Just do what they say and take these experimental drugs that do nothing and hope for the best. Haha you have a legitimate ligament tear but to Roper a anti inflammatory drug will cure it in their eyes. Good luck

I was admitted for a GI bleed, that was not life threatening, but hemo. did drop. I was able to make decision for myself, walk without assistants of any kind do everything that I could do if I was at home. FRONT DESK***** 5 STARS CLEANLINESS**** 5 STARS EMERGENCY DEPT* 5 STARS ROOM**************5 STARS MY NURSE "ROSS"***100 STARTS With all that said please tell me why was I treated as if I was in a nursing home, worst yet???? a POW camp? I have a dog, my baby, that my daughter was bring to see me, I went outside of the emergency department door, to my car (50 FT) to wait for their arrival and get in a smoke. When all of a sudden here comes the hospital police, informing me that I was not permitted to do this and my dog was not allowed inside as well (I KNEW THAT)and I needed to return to my room. Then came the charge nurse who made the same statement. I called my daughter and cancelled the visit. Went back in and decided that I wanted a salad from the cafe, when I returned I got the same attack. My question is, did I not bring myself here? Did I not signed the admission papers stating that what my health insurance will not pay I will? Has my health decline since being admitted. Trust me being a employee of a local hospital downtown, I do understand the necessary precautions that you must take with some patients but " I WAS NOT ONE OF THEM"!!! The facility is awesome!!!! I can not and will not take it from them!!! But! Why is this hospital "EMPTY"? Is it because of the Geriatric atmosphere and setting? or the POW camp rules? This facility name speaks for it self, the other campuses have no problem staying full, and the location of this facility is dead center of where a Roper St Frances or any other hospital should be in. I am very disappointed, and wish that someone can enlighten me. HELP!!!

My Doctor was great the staff was great .. They all treated me and my Daughters very well. I'm very happy with my surgery .

I thought that Roper might be more efficient and "patient-friendly" than MUSC. Boy was I wrong. Terrible experience overall with multiple areas where the facility fell down in terms of communication and follow-up. Exorbitant fees as well.

Waiting for blood work... one person ahead .... molasses in January is faster... I am sure she is filling in claim forms.... oh nurse just walked in from lunch ... really ... this is a hospital lab?

Lindsey Rix

Don’t use them for diagnostic scans. If you want to deal with months long headache because Roper is incapable of billing your insurance for a simple scan, then yeah, use them. Somehow everyone else sends claims to my insurance just fine, with the same card I’ve had for years, but Roper Radiologists PA are either incompetent or malicious in their inability. I think they purposely do it and then harass patients with phone calls so they feel forced to pay a large bill instead of negotiating with my insurance. They also lie and say it’s one amount, but really it’s different because they bill you 2 separate fees for one test. So disorganized, inefficient, and rude. Not sure how they get away with it.

Tara Venning

the RUDEST doctor I've ever met! I came in there obviously with some very bad knee pain because I couldn't even walk on it. All "Doctor" Rodelsperger did was barely touch it & tell me to take Tylenol. I would never come back here

I have been to all of the Roper hospitals and this one has the most expensive cafeteria and the worst tasting food of all the facilities. VERY DISAPPOINTED

I went to the ER with a terrible infection in my colon- I was on day 3 of it and in major pain. They confirmed the raging infection with a CT scan. Didn’t administer any pain meds- just wrote me a script and sent me packing. Also doc wrote me pain meds that I already take! Read my chart buddy! My goodness. This was hands down THE worst and most painful flare up of this I have ever had- I guarantee I should have been admitted. They did a terrible job in many aspects. I will try to go elsewhere from now on.

Ykethia Richardson

VERY RUDE! I had the worst nurse, his attitude was extremely bizarre. He must’ve had a bad day but patients getting checked in should’nt be treated that way.

Maggie Tucker

I would love for someone to contact me via email regarding my encounters of late.

Took my husband in this morning. He had been experiencing flu-like symptoms for four days. We we're taken in immediately. The doctor and staff were wonderful. Received great care. Would definitely recommend this hospital and ER.

I visited this hospital while here on vacation after my primary doc in St Louis MO advise me to go straight to the emergency room. I have not one complaint. The doctor was Joseph Bianco that handled my case was professional and I feel he ordered all the right test for a diagnosis. He was knowable and answered all our questions without scaring us as it was not what we anticipated on hearing that day. Our RN was Forrest, who was the perfect southern gentleman! Again, answering all our questions with knowledge, care and kindness. I felt very well taken care and felt confidant in the diagnosis I was given to home with to continue on with my doctor. Thank you Dr. Bianco and Forrest and all the staff that were so kind to me and my family. Karen Tucker

Got hung up on at least 4 times while calmly asking if a friend had been taken to this facility by an ambulance....

Just had surgery here yesterday and EVERYONE on staff was warm, kind, and thoughtful. I felt as if I were the only patient they were taking care of. The staff took great care of me and my wife as well while she waited. The facilities were all top notch and everything was clean and new. Unfortunately, I have experienced surgery at 4 local hospitals now, but if I have a choice of hospitals to use in the future, Roper Mt. Pleasant will be at the top of my list.

Eljay Estes

Took my wife over there at about 4am for back spasms. Worst staff ever from the receptionist, nurse, and AWFUL doctor. Acted like we were interrupting them. I'll drive to West Ashley next time and they are right across the street from my subdivision.

I wouldn’t recommend leaving your loved ones at this hospital alone. Some of the nurses are clueless. My grandfather was here for about a week they continued to serve him meat even though he doesn’t eat meat. They even served him a turkey burger it was so black a dog wouldn’t even have eaten it.A bald guy came in to pick up his tray he didn’t even care his personality sucked!!!!When we asked for mashed potatoes they said they didn’t have any I’m sure my grandfather was not the first they have had that doesn’t eat meat. What about the elderly with no teeth what do you guys feed them????I see lawsuits in the near future for this hospital not my first bad experience. You guys might want to start mandatory training for employees to be a little more friendly.

HORRIBLE ( FIRE THAT OLD MAN IN THE ER! OMFG - READ MY EXPERIENCE!) I went to the emergency room with a thrombosed hemorrhoid in extreme pain, it was rupturing and i was told to rush to an emergency room by my primary care doctor. When i got there the doctor LAUGHED AT ME for being in an emergency room for a hemorrhoid!!!!!! im sorry im not the most interesting case of the day but SERIOUSLY?!!?!? THAT OLD MAN IN THE ER CARE NEEDS TO BE FIRED IN A DEROGATORY WAY FOR MAKING PEOPLE FEEL LIKE THIS; JUST LOOK AT THE OTHER REVIEWS ON THIS GUY! HES HORRIBLE AND DEPLORABLE AS A HUMAN BEING!!!!!!!!!!! I have several friends who all have told me he is a jerk in that er department and dont think its an isolated problem! THE GUYS IN CHARGE SO NATURALLY ALL THE ER DOCTORS ARE HIS KIND OF RUDE!!!!!!!!! i know bad experience blah blah right??? NO it didnt stop there, after being laughed at i left (accepting the bill -.- for nothing done!!!) and was called about 20 minutes later by an apologetic customer representative. The rep begged me to come back on the house and i would be taken care of properly! So i went back, got some medicine and was told to tough it out -.- no big deal right????? WRONG!!!!!!!! THEY BILLED ME FOR BOTH VISITS ON THE SAME DAY!!!!!! I HATE YOU PEOPLE SO MUCH!!!!!! after calling the trade commission i got ahold of the president of roper st francis -.- and guess what people it comes from the tp of the ladder on down!!!! HES A JERK TOO!!!!!!!! worst experience ever, worse than the hemoroid. AVOID THIS PLACE unless you want to leave feeling like trash. WOULD BE NEGATIVE STARS IF I COULD YOU LOSERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DONT YOU DARE BOTHER CONTACTING ME YOU WORTHLESS PEOPLE BECAUSE IM GOING TO SUE YOU!!!!!! SO HA!

When I arrived in Emergency Room on July 15th. They found my cancer with one test. The doctor on duty was very nice and so was all of the staff. They got an ambulance to transport me to Charleston location with a room on the Cancer floor waiting when I arrived. Everyone was so exceotionally nice at both locations. I praise them for their respect and dignity and the Best care I have ever gotten at any hospital.

I witnessed the staff at desk(lab) refuse to help an older gentleman get a wheelchair for his wife who was a patient. Instead the informed him to go to the.outpatient entrance for a wheel chair. In the meantime , his wife sits alone in the car in front of the lab intrance. What has happened to service? They should have called someone to help him . I watched while they carried on an extensive conversation with a Co worker and took the time to carry on a extensive conversation about halloween. My husband and I were considering changing hospitals, but after that experience, we have definit ed ly changed our minds. A beautiful building that is new and clean does not make a caring facility. So disappointed with the terrible care they showed to an old disabled woman and her elderly husband. I'll definitely go elsewhere.

Thank you to the incredibly talented and caring administration, doctors and staff for providing wonderful care and service to my family and to our entire community. It’s one thing to be very good at what you do professionally but to do it with such genuine, love, care and compassion because you want to is another thing. Thank you all very much for being there to provide critical care when it’s needed. You are all appreciated. Mark Smith Mt Pleasant, SC

Terrible hospital

I had a very positive experience at this hospital. The entire staff was friendly, helpful and caring. I ruptured my appendix and initially thought it was a bad stomach virus. Though a difficult experience, having created complications by delaying seeking help, the staff made me as comfortable as possible, asking questions and going the extra mile. Two surgeons and the doctor draining an abscess consulted and planned the best approach to reach abscess, due to difficult location, and acted immediately. The nurses were able to reach doctors quickly, at any time, with concerns and for medicine approvals. Everyone, from the those delivering meals and supplies, to the doctors, went the extra mile, with a general “how can we help you more?” attitude. I even had great experience in ER, with quick and efficient care, immediately moving me to a room when finished. I’m grateful to all staff and absolutely recommend this hospital.

Wife's surgery with Dr. Baker. Outstanding.

The hospital was very clean and nice. The staff except one person was so nice and good to my mom. The only person that was a problem was the male dr in xray who was very rough with my 90 year old mom getting a mammogram done to put leads in for surgery. Wonder if he would like it if he had his privates put in a machine an mashed. He was the only person through this whole experience that was somewhat of a jerk. The nurses were great as well as the all the other staff members.

Great little hospital, genuine & caring staff

The nurse on duty when I was in the emergency room just couldn't accept the truth. Everything I said re: finding a way home was suspect. Snide remarks alone can ruin a hospitals' reputation. How unprofessional and also offensive.

Ended up in ER with severe pain in upper abdominal area making it very difficult to breathe. (Found out later after GI test it was a strangulated hiatal hernia) The ER was not busy so they got me right in. But the Dr and the 2 techs that attended to me were far from courteous or pleasant or even friendly or compassionate. The CT tech was wonderful. She was super nice and careful and took her time. When I got back to the room after still being in excruciating pain and waiting for results of scan I was left alone. Finally Dr came in and said follow up with primary. Then the tech said call someone to come get you. That was it. There was no explanation other than they didn't find anything. I was still in terrible pain. They should've done an ultrasound immediately or something and show some concern for my discomfort and pain. But nadda. I have taken my mom there before and we were treated well and they did a great job with her. The staff working that morning obviously missed the bedside manner class!!!!! So very disappointed in the care and treatment I was given. I'm not sure i'd ever go back there. Hello Dr's and nurses a little respect and compassion for your patients wouldn't kill you.

My wife and I had a very good experience with the labor & delivery team at this hospital. Dr. Lynch is truly a blessing... brilliant, dedicated and compassionate. And all the other staff that helped us during our stay were great as well! I highly recommend this team for labor & delivery.

The worst

My husband was treated in the emergency room for anemia and dehydration from a chronic colon condition. He received a blood transfusion and was sent home. Care in the ER was great! The next day he has a very high fever and severe abdominal pain. I remembered times when we've been seen in other area ERs and received the next day call to check on him, with the standard "please call us if you need anything." Even though we did not receive this call, I thought it appropriate to call the ER nurse to inquire as to whether the spike in fever and pain could be caused by the transfusion and to ask if we should return. While I realize the ER doctor is not our primary care physician, I thought my questions would be most appropriately directed to them since they ordered the most recent treatment. The ER nurse that I spoke with could not have been more unprofessional. He told me that he could not make the decision to return for me that I'd need to decide that on my own. He did not comment as to whether or not his symptoms were related to the treatment and yawned a few times during the conversation. After some thought, I decided to call back and speak with a supervisor. A girl answered the call and laughing said, "This is the nursing supervisor." Despite this I recounted the situation and again she told me that they could not help me. I did contact our primary care physician and we are now downtown at another hospital receiving treatment. I would also like to add that it seems the abdominal pain is related to them giving him Motrin in the ER. It seems that it is a very well known fact that Motrin should NEVER be given to patients with IBD. So there's that error as well.

Most unfriendly, rude staff I’ve ever dealt with in the healthcare profession. No one seems to be on the same page at this hospital, quite clueless, actually. Nurses don’t call back when you’re trying to get updates on loved ones and act like you’re bothering them when you call back. I highly recommend MUSC OR ANY OTHER hospital for that matter. Bedside manners from staff don’t exist here.

Colan Jones

I don’t know what’s up with all of these bad reviews but, this was by far the nicest hospital I’ve ever been in. Everyone was friendly and helpful, the rooms were nice, and it was extremely clean.

Jacqui Ducker

Emergency care was top knoch. Very kind. Very understanding.

Diane Miller

The emergency room doctor is a waste of time he don't know what he's doing or what he's talking about then they send you A big bill for no reason when they do nothing for you go somewhere else

Tanisha Thompson

I would give 0 stars if I could. The doctor who saw a family member of mine was an idot. My family member was threatening to kill themselves and the doctor decided they were "well" and sent them home. The doctor made this diagnosis after talking to my family member for a few minutes. I recommend going anywhere else other than here.

Quantasia Habersham

If I could give it zero stars I would DOCTOR SCOTT BURNS is the worst Doctor ever I told the nurse I was having shoulder pain for 3 days now that was keeping me up and he walked in and looked didn't ask me what was wrong looked at me and said its just a pulled muscle and waked out didn't examine or anything. I also asked for a doctors note for today and he goes you don't need one just tell them you were here.!

Ab-so-freakin-lutely despise this place. My son has asthma and this is the closest hospital to our house so I have to come here in emergencies but I have NEVER seen a slower staff in my life! The place is always a ghost town but they take forever to do everything not matter what time of the day it is. My son finished his breathing treatment an hour ago and no one has come back into the room YET! The treatment only takes 10 minutes. Their urgent care lacks the "urgent" part.

In 2013 i was going there for regular checks up when i was pregnant. The doctor i had was very unpleasant and didnt care for my skin of color. She would hesitate to touch my skin and a few other's treated me the same way. I hated going there but i was living in huger at the time so i had no choice. But once i move i switched to low County obgyn. My mom and i even went to where the manger or owner is and complained about how i was treated. I cant remember who i sopke to, but she was like "i can assure you we dont tolerate that and i do not agree with that situation". I didnt believe her one second, then she gave me this card of the hospital and im like yea this is not sincere. I should of gotten a lawyer and sued. But at that time i was young and didnt know the law as i do now. I believe if you are not well off as in money they dont want nothing to do with you or touch you. I guess some of them feel as though you have a disease? Some people need to realize no matter where you come from, there was a point where we all had to start from scratch and continue to grow as people or in career. Those doctor didn't always have a degree, house or money. So these doctors need to check themselves and know that people are not fountarte to go to med school. But you dont think you are better than someone because of what you have or your status. Not all black people are what these rich white people have in their mind. No matter how much money you have or what you have accomplished, if you have a ugly personality, the you are a ugly individual. They need to focus on the actual diversity of the people rather than who has the most money to pay them. If yall so focus on rich white people coming into the hospital then yall need to open a rich white people hospital in mount Pleasant.

The staff that actually works here is amazing, however: my wife and I planned to have our baby here right when we found out she was pregnant and everything was great until we came in to have the baby. The hospital was undergoing changes in their computer system so everything took twice as long as it should have. As they were learning the new system countless requests were forgotten about to the point that I had to write everything down on a dry erase board to make sure my wife was receiving adequate care. Also, while being here for 5 days the hospital decided to start renovation, now there is hammering all over the labor and delivery floor. If this wasn't bad enough it gets a lot worse....while my wife was having issues I will not describe during her pregnancy, an IT worker from Kansas here to help teach the staff how to use the computers decided to go in the waiting room and tell my mother-in-law and my mother that the doctors were discussing a c-section hrs before the doctors said anything to my wife and I about it. This threw everyone into a panic, the doctors would not and did not go and explain the situation to our mothers despite multiple requests. They cited personal privacy for my wife and I. My wife and I would like to know where the privacy was when a non-hospital employee went and told our parents about the situation in the first place. Also, said "employee" was not in our room at all and was only watching her vital signs on a computer screen at the nurses station. Unbelievable and unaccepatabke coalition of our trust and confidentiality. The "employee" left our mothers with this "I'm goin to go see if I can scrub in for the c-section." You can't make this stuff up. If you are having a baby soon at this hospital be careful what you are getting into with all of the current changes. We had our baby at the beginning of November, when construction started.
