I HATE this hospital, we have been here for 2 hours and have not been checked on one time. A nurse from the nurses station was continuously on a personal cell phone and only entered the room to say “A doctor will want to look at that, but I won’t unbandage it until then; so you don’t bleed everywhere” We are well aware that it needs to be looked at, that’s why we are here obviously. All that needs to be done is stitches for a severe cut, but nothing has been done.

I've heard nothing but horror stories about this hospital, I was nervous about having my left Thyroid Lobectomy done Thursday 2-15-18. I must say that everyone I have encountered in the surgical department was absolutely amazing. My nurse Melanie was so sweet, funny and caring I felt so comfortable and relax thanks to her. Surgical team was so nice and each one greeted me and assured me everything will be ok. In the 1st recovering room, I can't recall the nurse name but she was so nurturing I was so cold, shivering when I woke up she gave me some kind of blanket that you hook up a hose to that blows hot air. It warmed me instantly. I did get sick from the anesthesia that same nurse got a cold rag and wiped my face to help me feel better. The whole team was quick to help manage my pain to where it was tolerable level. Just an amazing staff! Thank you for that you guys have done!

For years I've heard people say that they wouldn't take their dog to Piedmont... Well, when my 4yo split her forehead open at 8:45pm it just seemed like the closest hospital was best. The waiting room leaves much to be desired, the pairla is awful with the seating very close to each other and the seats (at least the ones we were on) were fabric instead of plastic or leather or something eating wiped down and disconnecte. We noticed after getting up that the one we were sitting on had dried blood as well as the floor.... That all said, I've never been in and out of an ER faster in my life. They got us right in to triage and maybe five minutes later into a room. The doctor came in and said he was about to end his shift but he wanted to look at her because if there was any way he could fix her up real quick before he left he would, so we wouldn't be forced to wait while shifts switched. He was able to glue the cut shut... And we were back in the car headed home in under an hour. Granted we weren't there with anything very serious, but when it comes to your kids, it's all serious... And I was pretty impressed with the care we received. We did however all come home and immediately take showers to wash all the hospital germs off! . . . Since I can't seem to figure out how to reply to the owners response to my review but I appreciate them taking the time to respond... I would say that my rating would definitely have been higher if the waiting room had an overhaul. We we're lucky to come in a quieter day but I imagine it can get busy and the furniture and cleanliness of the waiting room (which is the first impression of the emergency room) was very off putting. I'd definitely get rid of those fabric seats! No one wants to see dropp blood on the chairs they have to sit on. Otherwise we were pretty happy with how we were treated and how fast they took care of a man who came in right after us with a very serious wound. ***EDIT 9/8/18*** On second thought, after our extremely short visit that involved very few people, minimal supplies and a 5 second glue fix, we received a bill for almost $1600. When I called and gave them our insurance info, they then sent me a bill for $263. The entire visit wasn't worth $263. I can't believe the profiteering going on here and I am extremely disappointed. I would have rathered they tell me it didnt need stitches and I could have bought some dermabond myself and glued her head back together.

The doctors here in the emergency room are a joke.. Dr Handler sent me home after giving me one 4 minute breathing treatment while I’m in the middle of an asthma attack...he said “you sound fine” when even the nurse said she could hear me wheezing by just standing by me I kept telling him my chest still felt tight and it was hard to Breathe he just basically said “well there’s nothing else we can do for you here” I know there’s plenty he’s could’ve done cause I’m here often with my asthma and they’ve done more than he did smh I wish we had another hospital in this city!!!

They gave me the wrong prescription, then charged me a full amount when I still went home in pain with a kidney stone. Shouldn’t have to pay full price when I didn’t get full services.

My son was taken by ambulance to the ER here at 4am Monday morning after passing out from being dehydrated from a virus he had gotten. I should've took him some where else! Once we got there he was put into a very dirty room, then was given one bag of fluids but once it ran out it stayed like that for at least 45mins. Then my son started vomiting all over his self and the floor, I called for help but no one cared until I got very mad but then we had put up with the very rude nurse because she was asked to do her job! He never seen a Dr until they did their shift change at 7am,then it was only once but at least she got another bag of fluids going. I could give alot more reasons why we'll never go back and trust me I will advise everyone i know not to either!!!

I was sent here by ambulance recently. The ED experience was the worst I’ve ever had. Once I arrived I was sent to a room that hadn’t been cleaned. The staff quickly changed the linens and washed the bed. The floor, walls, and ceiling were dirty. There were blood drops on the floor. I required a catheter and I was not cleansed before. After I requested a bedpan to finish and I called the nurse 3 times with no help. I sat on the bedpan for over an hour before the nurse came back and she was surprised I was still sitting on the bedpan. She wasn’t careful and spilled it, but she at least changed the linens. The soiled linens were thrown in the floor in the corner of the room. The nurse poured the urine down the hand washing sink and placed the bedpan in there too. This hospital used to be good but now I question the cleanliness and related procedures.

This place is a joke. We will NOT be seeking care here in the future. After a medical procedure over the summer I had set up a recurring payment to take care of my bill. Shortly after, I received a letter in the mail stating that my payment was due. I called customer service and they had no record of the recurring payment being set up. Over the phone we set it up a second time. It looked like everything had gone through correctly. A couple weeks ago I received a letter from a collections agency for the full balance of the bill. Upon calling Piedmont's customer service line I was told that the account was no longer with Piedmont and they could not help me. I asked what had happened to my recurring payment and was once again told they had no information and I would need to take matters up with the collections agency. This is the SECOND time I have had billing issues with Piedmont. Get your accounting together!

Hospital needs to be updated and cleaned. I am waiting in ER waiting room for my husband to come pick me up and my room, the bathroom in the hallway, and ER waiting room are all dirty. The ER waiting room smells sour. Dr. Todd was very nice but the rest of staff seem miserable. I had a breathing treatment but it was cut short. Respiratory Therapist ended the breathing treatment short and said that's good and left. Nurses were rude. I was given discharge papers and then the guy nurse just left. He didn't say, "get better" or anything. I got up and went to nurse station and was looked at like I was stupid. I said "so that's it?" And they said yeah, and told me to go to ER waiting room. They discharged me very quickly it seems. My hands and feet are still blown up and itch and are numb from the allergic reaction and I have pneumonia and asthma. But since this place is very unwelcoming and unsanitary, I just want to get out of here.

Very dirty hospital! I saw the same piece of paper in the elevator for 5 days. And, with only one elevator working one would think they would try to keep it clean. The actual bathrooms in the hospital room reeks of urine. While in the ER, the garbage was overflowing with bloody mater, etc. we had to ask for them to remove it. It wouldn’t be so bad ...except had to stay that room till we were admitted. The person cleaning the ER actually picked a pillow off the floor and put in the back of the bed. In the actual patient room there is not any hand sanitizer. They did promptly bring it when we asked for it. Very understaffed!!

Thomas Monk

This is the nastiest place I have ever been. Dirt everywhere, trash on floor, toilet broken, bugs crawling around, equipment looks like it has never been cleaned. If you are sick, DO NOT GO TO PIEDMONT.

Billy Smith

Worst hospital I have ever been to. I wouldn’t take a mouse to that hospital.

Our expierience with PMC was outstanding. My son fell from a ladder and taken to your facility. Staff promptly came to his attention as he had been unconscious and had trouble breathing. He was immediately brought into a trauma room and the physician and nurses began working with him. The entire staff was wonderful. They were very polite and very willing to explain what was going on and why they were doing the things that they did. I am very pleased and will recommend PMC when I have the opportunity. With that said, thank you to Jordan (RN), Dr. Martin, Amy (CT), John (Xray), Audrey (RN), the nice EKG gentleman and the sweet check in ladies working that day. PMC is very fortunate to have you working there.

I have had both of my children in the woman's center and had a wonderful experience both times! Nurses are always so sweet and helpful. Both my girls had to stay in the NICU due to the fact they were early. The nurses in the NICU are so amazing and encouraging breastfeeding! I am pregnant with my third child and look forward to delivering in this hospital.

Christopher Arnold

we had a medical emergency and being new to the area drove to the closest hospital. Piedmont staff saved the day, they were polite and took care of business and basically saved a loved ones life. Hospital seems like a older building....it was clean. the ER room is a chaotic place in any hospital. so if something is out of place in our ER room it is a non issue for me. I thought the prices were not bad for what was done, was pleasantly surprised with the bill. I will return to Piedmont and recommend it to others

If I could give 0 stars it would, this people don't care about patients make them feel unwelcome, I don't want to fill up my house with bills from the hospital , if I go is because I can take the health situation anymore at home and fear for what could happen , been there a few times due to the same illness they seem to find no explanation of what's causing it and the last doctor was talking to me in a unacceptable tone of voice like he literally saying what you keep coming here there's nothing we can do . Horrible experience . Should it down , rebuild and bring people that cares we all want to live!!!!

My wife was admitted for pneumonia we let all the doctors and nurses know that she is allergic to steroids but the genius doctors still ordered it the nurse put the steroids into a pick line instead of IV. They almost killed my wife by far the most inept poor excuse of a hospital I have ever seen.

Rosie Goins

I was in ICU following a cardiac ablation. I got sick from the anesthesia and threw up in my bed around 6:30 pm. Finally at 10 pm, my bed was changed. The night nurse assigned to me would not call my doctor as I requested as I was in extreme pain. Said she didn’t have to since she already had orders. I have called the local complaint department twice this week and have had no return call.

This hospital provides terrible service in the ER. The doctor who saw me had poor bedside manner and seemed to be completely disconnected with me her patient. This hospital grossly overcharged me for a simple ultrasound. The hospital gave me an bill estimate based on my insurance prior to leaving after a 3 hour stay. The estimate was $543.31, however I recently received my bill for $1,587. Both my wife and I spoke to the billing department to find out why such a huge discrepancy and all we got was it was an estimate. My response to this is if I get a painter to provide an estimate to paint my house, the bill better not come in 3 times more than stated. They continued reply was this was only an estimate. I will never go back to that hospital unless I'm in a life threatening emergency and I would recommend to you all who are reading this beware of the terrible service and what I believe to be a fraudulent billing system. ________________________________________________________________________ Yesterday, I received two telephone calls from hospital staff to discuss my post. The first call was to discuss my dissatisfaction with the Doctor's mannerism. I appreciate your phone call and concerns. Furthermore I appreciate you looking into this matter and ways to improve customer care. The second call was from the billing department and a waste of my time. The conversation started out with me explaining that I received an estimate from hospital staff as I was walking down the hall exiting the ER after all services had been performed. The estimate I received was for $543. I received a bill a few weeks later for $1,587. The hospital employees response over and over was that "This Was Only An Estimate". She also stated 1/2 dozen times in a 20 minute discussion, "You Signed The Estimate". Websters Dictionary defines estimate as "to judge tentatively or approximately the value, worth or significance of", "to produce a statement of the approximate cost of". What I haven't told you yet is, READ the fine print at the bottom or take an attorney with you, noting that there could be additional charges and fees. Okay I get it, a slight modification to the bill no problem. However, the estimate should be representative or somewhat close not three times the amount, otherwise its a useless document and a waste of hospital resources, time and budget. My suggestion to all who are reading my comments is DO NOT again DO NOT sign the estimate. They can not make you and you lose all negotiating power and common sense reasoning with this hospital. One final note is that this was the hospital estimate for services, I have also received additional bills from the Doctor, Radiology and Laboratory Services in which I expected to receive. The only thing the hospital can do to satisfy this matter is to send me an invoice that is somewhat close to the estimate or couple, few hundred dollars more, not 3 TIMES THE AMOUNT! Shame on you for your deceitful practices!!

Horrible place. Kicking my dad out of his room for someone else before he should even be released. Still couldnt feel his legs. He had no extra clothes so let him sit out there with no shirt. Then proceeds to tell him they have cab vouchers so he can go ahead and get out. Then to top it all off told my mom to take him to a hotel. No matter the situation i have i will NEVER go back to piedmont .Ill spend the extra money for cmc hell even a minute clinic. Most unprofessional people and uncaring in their line of work. Yall really need to do better and hire nurses and doctors that dont care about the money but care about the patient.

Marlon Virginia

The service was friendly and efficient.

I would give lower than one star this place is absolutely the worst facility I’ve been in waited five hours for a dr to come in and give us results to X-rays and blood work kept us waiting with nothing and the place is disgusting as well I will be taking my father to CMC pineville from here on out at least they have more that one dr and one that actually knows what they are doing. Most incompetent staff and lack of staff is horrific if we ever get dis garage never again

China Doll

Very bad experience I went from the waiting room to room to hallway with no one telling me why.doc came in acting like my injury was not important enough an he keep laughing like he was high off the meds that he does not ask how he can help his patients

**update** I changed review from 1 star to 3 after I received a phone call this evening about my experience. Though it doesn’t negate the experience, the fact that someone from the hospital made it a priority to call me this evening to find out what happened and validate and apologize for the issue, goes a long way. Funny thing- all someone had to do was come out and acknowledge that there was something that was causing a delay, I wouldn’t have been so frustrated- which I explained to the hospital rep who called - after the call, I feel like something might be done to keep this from happing in the future- we will see how next Thursday goes..*** This might change later if this is a fluke but really - I was given a pre-op appointment for a surgery next week and after sitting here at my appointment for an hour and a half - I still haven’t gotten past the payment part - they were quick to take my money - pretty much ever dime I had - it went from them accepting 150.00$ up front to, when I told them I could put 500.00 down they said I had to pay 700.00 up front. And then I am put in a chair to wait- and wait— wait - why make appointment at all, why not just say, come in on Thursday and we will get to you when we get to you- if I didn’t need this surgery- and if my dr. Had privileges somewhere else, I would walk out and never come back- I would not recommend this place to anyone! I could have finished my day at work, instead I am Sitting in an uncomfortable chair, starving because I ran straight from work figured I could grab lunch by now waiting for someone to do their something!

This was the worst hospital visit I’ve ever had, when I got to the ER my problem was that half of my face went numb on my right side then my fingers on my right side & along with that I had a plummeting headache. When they got me into the back I didn’t even have a room, my bed and my treatment took center outside of the rooms in the HALLWAY! While being there they took x-rays of my torso and cat scans of my brain. They couldn’t find anything & they gave me something through an IV that they call a “medicine cocktail” which stopped my headache but they couldn’t find out why my face and fingers were numb. They discharged me with a “virus illness” and a “headache”. Don’t ever visit here this is the worst experience I’ve ever had and they should be ashamed of the type of work they do.

The employees are lovely, the facility is welcoming and the caregivers are well-trained. The passion that they exude is world-class and their knowledge has saved the lives of many. I have witnessed the physicians and front-line staff give this love and care to myself and my loved ones. We are fortunate to have this hospital and it's comprehensive services local.

A family member was taken there by ambulance during the night in excruciating pain of lower abdomen and side. After some tests they released the patient to go home in early morning hours because all they could find was elevated white blood cell count. Certainly that would give them a clue that there is a problem. However no they sent them home in awful pain and did not find out what was wrong. Well I thought that was what a hospital was suppose to do. Piedmont did not do there job in this case!

My father-in-law asked me to place this review for him after a positive experience at Piedmont Medical Center: Though never a pleasant experience to get your chest cracked open, I would like to commend the Cardiac Surgery team headed by Doctors Barry Chan and Peter Zakow. They handled my recent quadruple by-pass surgery with the professionalism, courtesy, and bedside manner that I have seldom found when dealing with previous operations. The P.A.'s on the team explained everything in detail and to the level that both myself and my family could appreciate and understand. I could not have asked for better or more understanding ICU nurses while being in their care for the first several days after surgery. As most people know, this is the most painful and scariest time, and their attention to me on a personal level can not be overstated. Doctor Chan and his team have definitely upgraded and improved the Cardiac services offered by Piedmont Medical Center, and I recommend their service if the need ever arises. They should call it deathmont the hospital sucks

The ratings speak for themselves. When you have a head doctor like Dr. Bogdan how can you expect this hospital to get any better. Unless you have to here, please go somewhere else.....

Let me start off by saying the attending nurse and doctor provided great care to my son 12/17/18. unfortunately there are some things that took me off guard. The ER waiting area was quite unsanitary and the restrooms had trash all over them. I do understand that its busy and that they have a lot of people in and out but they should have staff checking on things like that. moving on my sons information was entered incorrectly at the time of arrival the receptionist never verified the name provided and just guessed on the spelling so when it came down to discharge we had to correct everything. The admittance nurse station is cramped and has way too many people walking around such a small area. The lady that was changing shifts for reception almost slammed the door in my sons face due to the fact that she was being careless, then she proceeded to walk in between the nurse and i while that are trying to get vitals from my son which was pretty rude and disrespectful. Once they finally took my son back to have a doctor look at his arm we had to sit in the hallway with other patients waiting to be seen since they ad no rooms available. patient information was being reviewed by discharge in the hallway( address,SS# ,etc.). i had to request to sit back in the waiting area because of how uncomfortable it was to sit in that hallway with my 6 year old and my 5 year old who i had to carry while he slept in the hallway. lastly once we had x-rays done and the doctor reviewed them my son had to get a splint for his fracture, initially i was told we would get a room so they could get the splint on yet we ended up in the same hallway near the sink as my son had a splint put on his arm since they needed a source of water. I'm super disappointed at this facility and will not seek care here for my family. i hope that someone does take this and change the errors not just because of a complaint but because you have so many people in the area that do visit this facility and should have to see what we saw.

Karen Hunt

Unbelievable horrid experience. I went to the emergency room for possible heart attack. Let me say HIPPA law violations everywhere. I was asked for medical information, personal information, and even given a bill estimate all in the presence of 4 other patients. I’m not sure if the ER is understaffed or not enough room or what. I overheard a lot of information about some of the patients in the make shift triage area. Oh, and my heart attack, they did ekg, chest X-ray, but came back saying I have carpal tunnel syndrome. Go figure. I will not be going back. Ever!!!

Rachel Snyder

After reading the reviews on Piedmont Medical Center and knowing how everyone in the area says to avoid them at all costs, I was very hesitant on having my sons surgery here. My son had an outpatient surgery with Dr. Jones from Charlotte Eye Ear Nose and Throat, so not with a Piedmont doctor, however we were happy with all of Piedmonts staff despite what I went in expecting. The super sweet greeters and check in people (volunteers might I add) were so wonderful and helpful. My sons nurses were FABULOUS and so caring and the anesthesiologist, Dr. Steven Petersen Jr., was also wonderful. The facility was very clean and looked liked it had been updated recently. I went in with anxiety and left with the exact opposite. Healthcare is a challenging field and I would encourage those who had negative experiences here to give them another try.

I want to give a great review for the Psych unit. When I was there I was really going thru it emotionally and was feeling like giving up. I truly believe that the staff thru the Psch unit are totally amazing. They cheered me up so much and made me realize I had to keep pushing forward. I only remember certain first names but Teresa, Antwan (?) , Allison, Cassy, Lisa, Cathy (?)Paul and Dr. Lee!! I'll be honest with previous visits to.ER or Women's tower I didn't have a single good thing to.say about Piedmont either but with these people.. I'll definitely give 5 stars Many KUDOS to Psych unit!

Brenden Fowler

I had brought my wife to the E.R. and they got her a bed somewhat quick. But after that good god. They just started doing stuff and not really explaining anything and the staff seemed to care more about talking to one another than working! Too many people and not enough workers.

Jami Waters

4 hours of my life wasted. 2 hours before we were even assigned a doctor. First nurse told me they were waiting in a CAT scan (no doctor, no tests at this point). Next they come in wanting x-rays (apparently the computer ordered it because we still weren't assigned a doctor. He finally comes in and wants to put in an IV no good reason, just in case...I said no of course. Took two phlebotomists to get some blood work done (poked my 8 month olds arm for 30 Minutes). Head nurse was the only reason we ever saw a doctor or got out of there at all. Useless hospital

Amanda Pavlik

Worst hospital I have ever been to in my entire life.. urgent care sent me here after they found out I had an infection spreading through my blood... I get there, VERY ill and with a life threatening condition and they made me sit in the waiting room for almost 4 hours...I was hysterical crying in the waiting room because I was so sick. Doctors and staff were rude and seemed like they didn't care.. I was finally put in a room and got a nurse who could barely speak English. She had to stick the Iv in me multiple times because she didn't know what she was doing..she finally had to get a more experienced nurse who was able to do it in one shot. My doctor only stopped in for 2 minutes and I never saw him again. They had me on Iv antibiotics for 20 minutes..I was suppose to be on Iv antibiotics for 12 hours(sure enough I went home and got very ill a few hours later) they rushed me out.. They knew nothing about the rare strep b bacteria I had in my blood and seemed like they didn't care..they also did not treat it right.. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL. It's awful..should be shut down...small, understaffed and uneducated employees

Melissa S

I had excellent care while staying at Piedmont. The staff was courteous and knowledgeable. They kept me well informed about me situation in terms I could understand. I was also appreciative to those who stayed to make sure I could be discharged as soon as possible.

Kaitlin Bartholomew

My review is from my experience in the women's center where I just had my son...Dr. Bailey was incredible & the nurses were very helpful & supportive!

Gary Stern

This is a top notch hospital. Don't listen to what anyone says around Charlotte about this hospital. I went in for Aortic valve replacement and an Aneurism. I received the greatest care from Dr. Barry Chan and his staff. The ICU on the cardiac ward was outstanding. Very attentive and fast to respond. Never had to ring the bell and wait for more than five seconds. These people care about you and your recovery. The regular cardiac ward was just as good. So if anyone tells you that this hospital isn't up to par in the latest care, they are lying.

Ben Bryan

My wife has been in the hospital for 13 days and have experienced some of the poorest health service. Today she never had a doctor come see her. At 2:30 I asked head nurse if the doctor was coming to see her...was told she would notify him. It's now 5:30 and asked RN if she could check about the doctor and she said sometimes the doctors dont come around if nothing has changed.....well my wifes health has improved and we want to get out of this place!! Everyday I have had to request service and items. This hospital is so understaffed and poorly managed. Please don't risk your health or life at this place and never leave your loved one alone in this place.

bbcoach2003

This review is solely on my experience to TRY and pay the balance of my bill. So a few months ago we set up a payment plan with the hospital ($100.00 montly), no problem. The problem came when I went to pay in full the bill at the hospital. They no longer have a business office, they can no longer look up what you owe. They send you to a person who does patient intake beside emergency room. They CANNOT look up your account, but you can go call a number and find out your balance. Are you kidding me, I walk in with $3500.00 cash , but was unsure of balance. So Jason , says I can take it, well I'm not giving you all this money and I could owe less. He says do I wanna pay the $100, then? Needless to say I left with exact amount of cash I walked in with. I'm guessing Piedmont would rather have you on a payment plan than take payment in full. So be it, $100.00 a month it is.

I took my son to the ER for psych issues. The psychiatrist on call refused to listen to me about the drugs he put my son on (I asked that he call the primary one my son sees and he refused). And when I voiced my concerns he threatened me. Then the hospital social worker threatened me and tried to bully me saying she would all the police on me and DSS. She did. Neither cared btw if she happens to read this. Because MY SON NEEDED CARE! I was called and bullied by nurses also, and when I wouldn't do what they wanted (I'm advocating for my son not here to allow them to drug him with drugs that have been proven to NOT work and harm him!!) they yelled at me and hung up on me. Please if you have a child do NOT take them here. They don't care, they just want to drug them into a little zombies so they won't hurt themselves and to send them home.

Came into E.R. for a dislocated wrist, was put under and doctor put it back in place with a splint and was to follow up with Ortho for a permanent cast. 4 days later at Ortho I was admitted to CMC Main for a broken arm and shattered wrist. Piedmont not only misdiagnosed my injury but also performed a CT scan and an MRI that I refused to have because of an obvious break in the wrist. Almost $15,000 charged to me. Would never recommend anyone to this Hospital. $ is all that matters, not patient care.

Marija Mack

Wonderful staff. From the OB doctor staff to the hospital. I was nervous enough to have the surgery, but they had everything arranged ahead of time - the only thing I had to do was have the surgery. I had no worries. The staff was wonderful, the nurses, the dining staff, the staff members who handle the paper work. Just everyone. This was my first experience with Piedmont so I was nervous - they took care of all my needs. Great hospital, great staff. Thanks to all.

Joe Hinson

I was a patient there until Thursday April 26th when I was moved across the street to Pruitt Healthcare for rehab. My stay at PMC was great but I was worried about going to rehab I got here at 5 pm and it is now almost 4 am. I was told by my nurse here at Pruitt that the “pharmacy” had not delivered my meds yet, but it should be soon. Almost 11 hours later, there are still no meds including no vancomycin for my foot infection. They also have not even checked my blood sugar to see if I need insulin Piedmont, can you make this better? They are going to undo all the work you guys did and I’m worried the infection will spread and I’ll lose that foot. I was in Rm 302 under the care of Dr. Porzengias

Crystal Stacey

Took my son to the ER here for a caffeine pill accidental overdose (he didn't understand the doseage). The nurse came in to the room and said that she was going to start a Morphine IV I asked why and she said isn't he in a lot of pain. I said no he took to many caffeine pills. She said she would check with the Doctor. The Doctor came in shortly after and laughed and said sorry I ordered that morphine for the wrong room. SERIOUSLY YOU THINK THATS FUNNY!!! What would happen in my kid was allergic or the parent didn't know better to ask why!!! This is NOT okay. Should have warning signs to question everything they tell you, give you or do for you. I would not let them put a bandaid on me.

Linda Vaught

Worst ER. Was brought in by ambulance because I had fallen and busted my knee. Was never checked out thoroughly. I had a wound on my knee, which wasnt cleaned or treated. Was told I was going to get a tentnaus shot and that never happened. Wasnt given discharge papers. Poorest care. Went in on 2.27 for surgery and was getting prepped, doctor took one look at my knee and said no surgery because wound was infected. It appears that piedmont billed my insurance company for the surgery and hospital stay for 2.27 thru 3.1. When I got my paperwork from my insurance company, they paid piedmont. Piedmont says it will take 30 days to get this straightened out. I caution people to check your claims and ask for an itemized statement. I filled out survey and still haven't received a response from them.

I would give zero stars if I could. My elderly grandfather has been there for weeks and every few days there is a new hospitalist and they never know what is going on. I guess they can't write notes or communicate with each other or us because they never seem to know what is going on. And they do not put in the effort to find out the plan or work to make things happen. It's is a horrible place where people don't care at all about getting the patients the care they need. As a healthcare provider myself, I feel like I have had to ask for every single thing my family member needs and he may or may not get it for several days if at all. He has been over sedated time and time again which has made his health declined further because the hospital is understaffed and unable to provide the care to a confused old man and instead give him sedatives to make there own jobs easier. His hospital stay has been prolonged due to lack of communication and overall poor care given at this hospital. I could go on, but needless to say I do not recommend this hospital to anyone. They have demonstrated a clear inability to do the most basic requirements for providing care including communication at the very top of the list.

Matthew Pritchard

Honestly this place is great, outstanding....untill you walk through the door. Honestly I was thinking about opening up a funeral parlor next to the emergency room, because by the time you get seen you'll most likely be in a casket. Not exaggerating. And thanks to the wonderful 4-9 hour wait times. I have enough time to plan a budget my funeral home too. Thanks Piedmont!

alison turenne

My experiences with Piedmont have been good. The ER staff was responsive and professional on both occasions. Nursing staff was knowledgeable and provided compassionate care for my mom. I’m grateful for their service.

Kerri Altizer

Worst hospital ever. I went in for appendicitis and they did an ultrasound on my gallbladder. Then later on I had to have an MRI where they then screwed the payments up. Applying one payment to another account, which would have made a positive balance. No one can answer my question or get to the bottom of the issue. So, annoyed.

Blue Luna

This entire facility should be shut down for the way the staff treats their patients especially those of color. I have never been so degraded, felt so unsafe, or just experience pure negligence. Yes they're trying to cover up my fall, but I have a whitness but will not even speak to me about the issue. I can't wait to get back to NY & sit down with my legal team. NO, I don't care who they are should be subjectd to such abuse, then a cover up & lies. This is unbelievable, they are so mean and nasty I had no choice other than leave with my blood pressure still dangerously high Everyone involved with that hospital should be ashamed of themselves

Alyssa Clinton

I honestly used to hate this place but I went on yesterday at 2, and by 2:30 I was in an ER room, doctor was immediately in and I was administered pain meds and antibiotics for 3 different issues with my kidneys while 5 months pregnant. By 6 I was in the women's center and discharged by 1:30 today, the nurses were so sweet and gentle, I saw 3 different doctors all giving me a detailed description of what was going on.

Eddie Barber

Piedmont ER is absolutely the worst. The staff is probably the best part. It took entirely to long to be seen here. I've waited 6hrs plus in here. This ER is ran very poorly from the top and they dont care because it's the only hospital here. This hospital would not last in a larger city with competition. I will take my chances with another ER next time. The only reason for the 1 star is because that's the only way I could actually post.

Megan Dannaher

I was very nervous about delivering my baby here after reading so many negative reviews. I must say my experience exceeded my expectations. The nurses were caring from beginning to end during my stay here. I felt supported and respected. Each nurse who cared for me was compassionate and made me feel 100% comfortable. Don’t make assumptions based on others negative comments/experiences.

Laurie Graichen

I went to the emergency room today and it was probably the WORST medical care I have ever gotten by a doctor (the nurses and other staff seemed very nice and caring. But most of why I came in was never addressed by the Dr, or just glossed over because it "wasn't an emergency" and because I had just seen my own Dr a week ago and had another appointment set up with him next week. I had ear fullness, congestion., and ringing in my ear - and never had my ears looked at. I had severe foot pain that kept me up all night and he never looked at my foot - didn't even take my footwear off to see if I had possibly stepped on something. No x-rays. No blood work. No tests of any kind. No prescriptions. EDITED TO ADD - I went to the wound care center 3 days after this ER visit and there was a LARGE OPEN WOUND on the bottom of my left foot, which would have been IMMEDIATELY evident had the ER Dr bothered to check my foot.

Mary Meyer

Kellie Disher, a supposed physician at this facility, got into a disagreement with a friend of mine on FB, and indicated that due to his weight he should commit suicide. What kind of a medical facility would hire an advocate of such a horrible thing. My husband's brother's brother in law recently committed suicide and the family is devastated.

Thomas R.

The Maternity ward in this hospital is excellent. They will take care of you from the time you arrive and until the time the mother and baby leaves. Baby Gabby was born pre-mature and unexpectedly, but the nurses here made us feel like family. My wife was in the hospital for four days, and each day the experience was just like the first (helpful and caring). Out of our 3 children born in different states, these nurses at this hospital took the top of the cake. All of their hard work and love was shown and still is greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Katelyn Carnes

The lack of customer care and cleanliness really has me questioning why this place is even still running. The floors in the waiting room and even in the back were covered in dirt and trash. We waited for over 5 hours before they would tell us anything final. The overall lack of professional care was awful, it’s literally revolting here.

Lou Mondello

Daughter went in for possible concussion on a weekend. Waited 2 hours in the lobby, then another 2 hours waiting to be seen by a Doctor. THAT seemed normal, and it didn't bother me much. What did was their inept billing department. Especially their account website. I entered a payment plan. First two payments I made over the phone. When I logged in to the website to make a payment, it wouldn't let me. It only allowed me to create another payment plan with a credit card (which was fine with me). The next month, when it attempted to charge my card, it failed (had sufficient funds, and the card number was correct). I logged in again to change payment arrangements to draft from checking account. Billing did not auto draft. I logged back in, and my checking account info was missing. So I re-entered the information. THIS time it let me make a payment, so I did. 2 weeks later, I received a letter stating my account was sent to collections. I had 3 months left, and I feel more comfortable dealing with the collection agency than the Piedmont Medical Center Billing department. At least the collections agency knows what they are doing.

Brian MacDougall

This is the 2nd time this month that my wife has been at Piedmont hospital. The first time she sat for 6 hours in the waiting area until she was seen by the ER doctor and was admitted 11 hrs after first arriving there. Now this time she was sent to the ER by Dr. Pennington and 2 1/2 hrs. later she is still waiting to see the ER doctor. This place needs to have more doctors on duty or on call .

Ginger Stoeckel

Yeah Piedmont sent me to collection agency all because they were not satisfied for the thing that I only can send them I can only afford 5 to $10 a month. Yeah now they said they don't want to work with me I'm on disability I have Asperger's syndrome and they are not working to work with me my medicare to pay $10,000 two years ago for them and now many months later do you rest meat and I got something in the mail from them and he said this payment is not acceptable they want more but I can't afford more I have bills to let alone I need to eat and plus I pay rent and I'm living with my parents and my brother and I'm going to be 35 years old this summer they said they can't help me that's ridiculous I just don't want to help me or anyone money is tight. With my dad's in the hospital they don't care I wish I should have gone to Pineville in the first place when I needed to go to the hospital at least they work with you did they work with my dad and my mom when they had that surgery in Pineville.v

amanda

place almost killed my mom when i was born and i’ve heard nothing but bad stuff since edit: no

kesha sibley

The wait is absolutely ridiculous

Scott Miller

I would Not go to this hospital for stitches. 9 and half yrs ago they misdiagnosed my dad (he died at home 6 months later) and it appears nothing has changed. I was desperate for help and tired them and was given 2 different fairly serious diagnoses and sent home.

Jylian Todaro

I gotta say I was actually hesitant about going here because I had read so many bad reviews previously. But I have to say what I read is not what I experienced. The wait time was a lil out of the ordinary but I get it. It’s an ER. Reason I was there was I had surgery on my cervical spine 8 months ago and I have been feeling a pop in my neck/ left shoulder quite a few times and at work i had lifted a child and when it happened a sharp pain shot down to my left elbow. They did X-rays and helped me with my pain. Dr Jenkins was amazing and the nurses were great too. I had heard the lady next to me yelling kinda at the dr cause she didn’t wanna just distribute pain meds. People don’t understand drs have rules and regulations they have to follow and need a reason to do so. I felt bad for the dr cause it seemed the lady was belittling her when all the dr was doing was her job! UPDATE: As you see I took away 2 stars!! And that is soley on the fact that I went back for a 2nd time yesterday. I haven’t been able to see my surgeon yet and have an appointment in 2 days so when my shoulder popped and that same issue happened I went back to that same place cause I WAS TOLD TO COME BACK IF IT CONTINUES BEFORE I SEE MY SURGEON. So this time I saw the PA Bryan. He was a joke and so were his nurses. Who the heck puts someone who recently had cervical spine surgery and is in crazy pain in a room with no bed and have to sit on a damn chair?????????? They come in and give a pillow thinking that’s ok. But after I get back from CT the pillow was gone. UNBELIEVABLE. Now I’m home here with feeling the same and if I decide to go anywhere is will be CMC. At least I know they have my records and they will take care of my issue further. Oh and when u decide to have your maintenance lady clean your bathroom you should have them check with the patient if the cleaning supplies were bothering them. Cause that was some strong s***!!!! Ridiculous.

Lourdes Mendez

My mother passed away at this hospital on 04/20/2018. I have to say that this hospitals palliative team is horrendous!!!! To start off my mother could not get onto a bed pan let alone say she needed to use it. Had it not been for my sisters and I checking my mother, she would have sat in her own urine. My mother was removed from life support without notification or any explanation as to what they were doing to my sisters who were present. 1 1/2 hours before my mother passed, their case worker Debbie came into the room and argued with us that she would be moved to Pineville. Needless to say she received a piece of my mind. The doctor was supposed to come into the room and talk to us before removing life support and he never did. He just showed up to pronounce her. DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONES HER IF YOU FEEL IT IS EMERGENT!!!

Cory Necessary

This is by far the worst experience I've had with any medical center ever. Lazy nurses, carless doctors, uneducated lab techs. Overall mess. • First, the registration desk did not take my insurance information when I was checking in. I notified her my ID was not my current address and she would need to take down a new one for proper billing. She said someone would get it from me later, which no one did. I had to call the registration department so someone would take my information that I was trying to get them to take when I checked in. • Secondly, The lab tried to do a Basic Metabolic Panel and and Hepatic Function Panel to charge me for two blood tests when they could have just ran a Comprehensive Metabolic Panel and get the same results in one test. I had to call the billing department to sort this out after I got home. • Third, my doctor (who I had to look up because he never actually introduced himself) barely treated my problem. He did not do a very thorough exam, ignored my family medical history, and assumed I smoking, alcohol, and coffee were the cause of my stomach pains that had been lasting for over 24 hours. I don't smoke and he never even asked if I did. I drink very little alcohol and only had a half a cup of coffee that day because I was already in pain. He prescribed me Zofran, which is anti-nausea medicine and will do nothing for gastritis or stomach ulcers. He also told me to take prilosec, which I already told him I was taking, but apparently he didn't care to ask me questions or listen to what I was telling him. I left the hospital feeling the exact same as when I was there with no real diagnosis, relief, or idea as to what is wrong with me. I am going to follow up with my PCP and will be contacting the Director of the ER at Piedmont to file a formal complaint. If only I could find out who that is, no one at your facility seems to be able to tell me.

Dave & Patsy Ward

I have been treated several times at Piedmont, I have had the best care everytime!! The ER was the best!! Thank You to all Doctors, Nurses, technicians, they treated me with respect and professionalism with a smile.

Yoshima

Horrible service. Summer Kirkpatrick is very unprofessional. They really need new staff

Grover Pillsbury

Dr. Chang was great that is about where the good review ends. They kept my Dad in CICU for two months. Long story short he is now on pallative care they are going to stop lasix his lungs will fill with fluid and he will most likely die. DO NOT BRING YOUR LOVED ONE HERE. I will hold them personally responsible from this point forward. You should drop Medical from your name.

PLEASE CLEAN UP THIS HOSPITAL. THE ROOMS ARE DIRTY THE FLOORS IN RESTROOMS ARE DIRTY, DIRTY. THE FURNITURE IN MOST OF THE ROOMS ARE TORN AND THE WOOD FURNITURE IN THE ROOMS ARE IN POOR CONDITION. FOOD - NO FOOD CHOICES. Example breakfast : fried potatoes, grits, and fruit and everything was cold. The staff was very nice. NURSES It's a shame they have to work in CONDITIONS like this No cleaning going on in that HOSPITAL .

Travis Williamson

Very friendly efficient staff. I had to take my 15 month old to the ER on 08/29/2015 @ 10:30 at night. We were welcomed promptly then vitals were taken promptly by a precious RN who not only was patient with my son but kind to his blubbering mama. We were taken to a room in a timely manner and the doctor came in quickly and took excellent care of our sweet boy! We were in and out within a hour! It was also clean. Thank you to those who were working last night! Nobody wants to go to the ER but if I had to be there ( which I did) y'all made it pleasant. I would recommend to anyone!

The Frugal Guru

Husband came to the ER after an accident. The nurses at the registration area were not confidential at all of any other patient's. That was 1 of the things that irked my nerves! We got called into the back, there was no room obviously, neither did anyone advise us we would be waiting in the hallway to be seen for a doctor. A grandma laid out across from us.. poor thing. For the record, I know grandma's business as well.

Rich Posipanko

Had bypass heart surgery (5) two and a half weeks ago. Dr. Peter Zakow and Dr. Paul Slota were my doctors. Could not have asked for two better doctors or people. Very professional in every aspect. From my emergency room visit to my release from Piedmont Medical Center after a week, everything went extremely well. The care I received from the nurses was outstanding the entire time. If you ever need heart surgery I would highly recommend you strongly consider the “Heart Team” at Piedmont. The doctors and nurses along with all their assistants were world class in the care they offered. I found nothing but highly professional people who were concerned about your care. They always took the time to answer any and all questions you had and explain them in detail. There is no question my experience was five ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of five. I certainly appreciate everyone and everything Piedmont did for me. Thank you.

Went to Piedmont with metal shavings in my eye. I waited in waiting room for 4.5 hours. I asked nurse how much longer would it be she told me she didnt know. I had let her know that my vision was getting worse. I waited another 1.5 and still wasnt called back. I left and went to Steele Creek in Charlotte. Due to the urgency of removing metal my eye had formed a rust ring due to the metal being in my eye. If Piedmont would have treated it promptly the rust would not have formed. I will be skipping Piedmont and heading straight to Steele Creek for any medical emergencies

Moise Moctezuma

Losing an unborn child is one of the most traumatic experiences one can have. The experience itself is heartbreaking. You cannot think straight and continuously pray to the Lord for a day in which acceptance comes. What kind of place would have people sign off on an amount to pay during a time of distress, only to send back a bill twice the amount? This hospital takes advantage of individuals in time of need. An agreed amount should not be a fluctuating thing. If you signed an agreement to pay a certain amount, that should be the amount you pay. Not more, not less. You do not care about the patients. You took an oath of honor as physicians, I am appalled that any self respecting individual is able to work for a place that takes advantages of others and uses every chance to violate that oath. The sheer amount of negative reviews this place has is a testimony of how a vast majority of people treated here feel about this place. You ought to be ashamed of yourselves. I am sure the HHS will see substantial evidence on the inadequacy of this place.

Jasmine Brown

POOR SERVICE WORST HOSPITAL EVER NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN DONT CARE HOW NOBODY FEEL AS LONG AS THEY GET PAID

Mary Mueller

My mother recently spent the past 3 weeks at Piedmont Medical Center and I was there with her for most of that time. I cannot say enough about the quality of care that she received from the technicians, nurses and doctors both on the PCU floor (3rd floor) as well as the ICU doctors on the 3rd floor as well as the palliative care nurse and doctor. They worked closely with myself and my family to understand my mother's medical and other needs and to make her as comfortable as possible. They truly cared about her and it showed even to the level of the cleaning staff and those on the phone taking orders for her meals. I want to say a heartfelt thank you to all who worked with her and my family during this time - you all made a difference.

Kristin Sater

Yesterday (9-27-2017) I had to go to the ER for horrible right flank pain. Now yes I had to wait around 2 hours which absolutely sucked but they were very busy. Once I was called back, I saw a doctor whose 1st name was Jasper. I can not remember his name at all but he was extremely nice and thoughtful. Within 15 mins of seeing him, the nurse came in with pain & nausea medicine and she was extremely nice as well! I was then discharged in about 20 minutes after that. I was diagnosed with a kidney stone. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I was placed in a room that had recliners and you could see and hear other patients. It made me a little uncomfortable but that's literally my only complaint. Thank you for helping me feel better and being very thoughtful!

Chris Baker

Was here for recent treatment of allergies and dehydration. Jenifer on the fourth floor was tough as nails but very underatanding and fair with my situation. Now if I could just get away from the screamer and find a way to smoke acigarette

Darby Florian

Dr. Monaghan was wonderful to us. We had a lot of questions and he took time to answer each of them. We felt we were taken care of and treated well.

David Robinson

Went to the emergency room last night. WORST I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED!!!!!!!!!! Sat for three hours!!! Saw people waiting in herfiic pain. Several trips to counter and sorry can't do anything. Very somber employees. Did not seem to care at all. One women was about to pass out from a possible concussion they did nothing. At the 2hr30 min mark I was told there were 7 people still in front of us. I didn't see 5 people go back and stay back for treatment during the whole time. Horrible service.

Nathaniel Anderson

Every time I come here seems to be a problem, specifically on last visit was trying to find the charge nurse. Room control was locked, had to wait on security and after 45 minutes of them looking I just had to leave... been to many hospitals in the area. This is ridiculous!

Tom Green

I'm still waiting to see a doctor it's been 7hrs

Tyra O

We had an outstanding experience here! The staff was professional and compassionate. Labor and delivery nurses were awesome as well as postpartum. Anesthesiology was right on time and very "down-to-earth". I have nothing but positive things to say about this hospital. Piedmont has so much to offer. I'd recommend this facility to my loved ones.

Ashley Doss

Got admitted to be monitored for pre term labor. Went in very nervous and scared. The nurses I had did an amazing job at making sure I was comfortable. They all made sure I knew what was going on and answered any questions I had.

Jo Humphries

7 1/2 hours Most spent in waiting room. Miserable. Never offered a drink ' , nor a snack All because of a brooken finger and some bruising Actual time spent with me...1.25 hours. CMC from now oon.

Delmi Villalva

It's a terrible place has bad service they are very slow

Pegatha McKeon

I landed in Piedmont Medical Center on New Years morning 2018. Everyone was friendly, supportive and took excellent care of me even though through a fluke in timing, I didn't have insurance at the time. No one treated me badly in any way. The nurses were awesome as were the doctors. And the doctors came by regularly. The only thing I didn't like about this hospital was the food. Their food really is bad and I question their heart healthy diet, among other things. Otherwise, I am totally grateful to Piedmont Medical Center and all their staff for saving my life, and for providing me financial assistance as a hardship case. THEY ARE GREAT!

William Dial

In August 2017 I was having an intense pain under my Xiaphoid process around 7am. I checked in to PMC ER using their online check in service. I arrive and was immediately taken back, with vitals and blood taken. Soon after I was placed in an observation room and given a dose of Morphine for the pain, the nurse administered it slowly due to nauseating effects if giving fast. ER Doctor being nice, came in and explained that from my symptoms he wanted to get a CAT scan. After the scan, the ER Doctor came in and stated that my Gallbladder looked inflamed and would like to get an Ultrasound to confirm. Ultrasound confirmed that my Gallbladder was indeed inflamed and needed removal. ER Doctor said that they decided to admit me and contacted the General Surgeon to schedule a surgery. Spent maybe three days in the hospital, the Surgeon was extremely nice and knew what he was talking about. As I was waiting for my surgery my nurses were so sweet and kind. Surgery came and went and was discharged the day after; the Surgeon told me I had gallstones the size of marbles and he stopped counting at 50. He said for them to get that big I would of had to had them for a couple of years. After my experience and the experiences of my family members, I will never be worried about coming here for anything.

Uno Yahoo

I went for surgery, they were very unprofessional. Laughing and cutting up. Even when they put me on the cold table. So I sat up and they started freaking out saying why is he awake. They were trying to cut me wile I was awake. Then they held me down and made me breath something that put me out.i was so scared. When I woke up I was in the worse pain of my life. That been a wile and I still hurt very day of my life. There is also a big bump on it that is very uncomfortable. They said it's nothing and they are not connected, but they are just covering it up.there are a few other thing that that day too but they are to personal to write on here. So you have been warned. If was bleeding to death about to die,I would drive right past the sorry excuse for a hospital.

Tim Dawson

Dr. Barry Chan performed an aorta replacement this past December. My experience at Piedmont Medical was top shelf all the way. My experience with Dr. Chan and all of the nursing team was excellent. I am a new person. The photo is the calcified valve he replace which was working at less than 15% capacity. This is proof government should NOT be involved with healthcare.

Deborah Sanders

We have been here way to many times over the last 8 months. Dr and Nurses have been exclent with my husband. I know he is getting excelent ❤ Care. Thanks

Andrea Washington

Worst experience ever!!!! If you have a choice DO NOT come to the hospital. I had to bring my niece because she is pregnant an was throwing up all day couldn’t keep anything down. We had to wait in the ER waiting area for 7 hours. This is ridiculous! I will never come back to this hospital EVERRRRRRR again.

Miya Harmon

This is by far the worst hospital I have ever been 2. The emergency room staff was slow ride and unaware. I sat in the room in the worst pain possible for over an your with not 1 nurse or Dr home in my room to ask anything, after roaming the halls for 10 min someone finally asked if I needed help. I explained my situation to the nurse n she told me that someone was close to dying so all the nurses where n that room. 1st off tgis is a hospital, if you fo not have enough staff to take care of an "EMERGENCY" what's the point in anyone coming to the emergency room smh. Then she lied cause I was looking at plenty of nurses walking n sitting around. It is not going on 1 your 20 min of been sitting sitting here and NOTHING. SMH Better off dying dying than coming here. Horrible

Lara Enwall

I was in the women’s tower recovering from surgery. As far as care from the nurses and the CNAs it was super. They made sure my stay was as comfortable as possible, meds given on time. BIG THANK YOU! Just as the previous reviewers said, the food does suck. Ask for the pudding and graham crackers. It’s the hospital ya know, not a restaurant. I didn’t have high expectations based on other reviews, but I’d totally recommend this hospital! Super nice nurses and staff!

lori Hollingsworth

my daughter went to emergency room , was in pain and unable to walk, had just been running and exercising , earlier that day, Dr. pulled her leg ,said it was a pulled muscle, go home, 6 weeks later she is still in pain , unable to walk , not able to work, went to emergency room in Pineville , NC, they did xray , she has a broke hip, no insurance , very little money, thank God for orthro carolina , ,they have her bolted back together , now you done her for an unbelievable amount for no service rendered , working white class,

Judy Rough

I have been to Piedmont 3 times in about a year. Each time I have been I was treated extremely well, and taken back within an hour of arriving. I just got home from there just now and was in and out in less than two hours. They did xrays, the dr came in right away, I was in an area where they put several people at once divided by curtains so I saw how each person was treated for numerous things and each one was handled extremely nice. The dr talked to me several times about my issue then ordered me a shot for my pain some meds to go home with and instructions on home care and what to do if not better in a week. Piedmont might have a bad reputation from other people, but good grief people this place is always packed, it’s used as a Drs office for the common cold and simple things that should be taken care of at a drs office or a simple urgent care or cvs. But when people don’t have insurance and use the Er for those small drug store fixes the major really sick people get long wait times and over worked Drs and nursies....Put yourself in their place could you handle the stress of people fussing at you for everything from a drink to where’s the bathroom or something else. We’ve turned our emergency Departments into nightmares for everyone.... so with that being said. I’ve been treated extremely nice at Piedmont every time I have gone over the course of 2018 till today. Just be patient and understanding, everyone there is human and doing their best. Try Cmc Pineville my mother waited 5 hours in the waiting area not knowing if she had a stroke or Bells Palsy and then another 5 hours waiting for a bad fall. And I’ve been there with a migraine and put in the hall with bright lights and very noisy and no help. I stay with piedmont ❤️ Thanks

Suzette Byrd

Everytime I visit this hospital I gasp at how filthy it is. Bodily fluids (blood) never cleaned from the previous patient(s), urine soaked toilet perimeter, broken paper holder, dirty floors, and trash in the room. So I can only wonder and gasp at what we don't see. HEDIS/NCQA is non-existent. When asked to address staff was defensive. A Radiology Tech clea ed the blood and apologized

Irish McCleod

If I could give negative stars, it would be -100. This is the worst ER to ever go to. Staff is very slow and service is horrible. Room we were sitting for 3 hours was nasty and floor had some type of bodily “ fluids” on it which of course I stepped in- had to disinfect my shoes - asked them 3 times to clean it up but no one ever came.

Jacob Soles

The lady that serves the food in the café is rude, racist, and homophobic. She charged me $10 for a breadstick and a drink which is well above the posted price. She glared at me the whole time I was making my selection. She then predeced to whisper things about me to other employees. As I left she muttered something under her breath. I was horrified.

Samuel Jack Burrow

I had wonderful care at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill: the service, care and treatment was superb! Piedmont Medical( under the guidance of their new CEO) has been recruiting top doctors from Charlotte.I had an emergency that truly needed immediate treatment. my doctor, Dr. Barry Chan, actually drove to the radiologist office and reviewed my MRI; he ordered an additional scan that he needed. After reviewing the CT scan he immediately contacted me and started treatment(which was an emergency situation). The care and treatment was truly over the top.I live in Charlotte and the treatment at Piedmont Medical was fantastic. From the receptionist to nursing staff my care was incredible professional: I can't say enough about the nurses that took care of me.I highly recommend Dr. Barry Chan, Piedmont Medical and their staff...their timely care and treatment truly saved my life-THANK YOU!!! Dr. Burrow

Jasmen Allen

The worst possible place to go for anything. You would honestly be better off doing whatever it is you need help with yourself. Immensely long waits, and they have no sense of emergency there. I was once in a room with another lady who had a broken wrist and nobody cared for her for hours on end. I was there with a sever case of the flu and all they gave me was an IV and once that was taken out it was bent and soaked in my blood. Never actually saw a doctor. Please save yourself the wasted money and time and get the proper help you deserve somewhere else. I wish I could give this place a no star review because it is honestly that bad. DO NOT GO TO PIEDMONT!!!

David Bellamy

My wife just left the ER with pain in her upper right side gallbladder area and a fever. The experience she had was terrible. They ran tests one test says she is packed full of gallstones next test said nothing so Dr Chidubem Orazulike came to her after hours waiting and over a year of dealing with this issue until it got unbearable abruptly sent her home. That Doctor treated her like an addict there begging for pain pills not a patient needing help. Never even offered her a Tylenol. When he abruptly sent her home he didn't give a chance to ask anything at all turned his back walked away. This treatment is unacceptable and I will be filing a complaint. There should never be doctors hardly able to speak understandable English and zero bedside manner allowed to see patience when they are at there weakest and most scared points. My wife left that place in tears and in pain with no resolution and more scared and confused then when she went in. I could go on but I will save the rest for my complaint.

Tracy Howard

Most of the reviews on here sound very much like my experience with this hospital, which a one star is too high of a rating for this place. It needs a complete overhaul. If you do have a decent experience it is few and far between. I wonder how many of these complaints have been truly addressed, because if they have then that would institute a change, which is not evident. My husband may now have to have his foot amputated because this place did not treat him in a timely manner. While we were in the ER they had 3 code blues within 2 hours. First one died. I just wonder if it was because they were not being treated. It is sad that you have to travel out of your county to receive proper treatment.

This hospital is awful. My son was sent from his pediatrician for an ultrasound my sons private area was completely swollen. The doctor refused the ultrasound and was very rude putting his hands up in my face refusing to do more testing on my son. They don't care about anyone this my second time leaving that hospital over being careless with my children. Pineville always treats us with respect and concern unlike this hospital I don't see how there still open

Had my baby here and it was the best EVER. The nurses and staff were all so sweet, helped me with so much. Rooms were super clean food was good and they treated me and my newborn with so much respect. Would recommend this hospital to anyone.

I wanted to acknowledge the staff at Piedmont for an emergency room visit on Saturday August 18 2018. I was nervous about going but I want to say from triage to being taken care of by Dr Carey all were professional and made sure I was comfortable and well taken care of...even my anxiety. So kudos to you guys at the ER....i know lots of criticism comes with the medical field..so I wanted to say thank you!!!

We were in one of the small room but with one exception the nursing staff could not have been better. Loved Becca, Holly, Amy. Only down side was food service. Cafe was fine but in rooms late and cold. Happy with our experience.

Unfortunately I've had to be seen 3 times over the last few months. One of the visits was to Emergency. I can't tell you how kind and caring the staff is. After my Emergency visit the physician followed up by phone to see how I was feeling. Who does that anymore? Can't say enough about this place. Thank you!

BED BUGS!!! DO NOT GO HERE...THEY HAVE INEXPERIENCED NURSES, THEY ARE INFESTED WITH BED BUGS AND FLYING BUGS IN THE ROOMS AND THE FOOD IS HORRIBLE. I took my mother to the emergency room at Piedmont Medical and we were treated extremely well. Every person we interacted with, from the check-in clerk and triage nurse to all the nurses, lab techs, and doctors in the emergency department went above and beyond to help my mother. They made sure we understood what was happening and fully explained her diagnosis and how to use her medications. I could not have asked for better care for my mother.

Laura Parrish

I wouldn't bring my dog here. Nurses are rude and useless. My grandma is on the 3rd floor now and Family has to do their job. Ask for something and they act like how dare we. Lord bless this place.

They killed my father

We are very happy with Piedmont! They saved my husbands life on Thanksgiving 2018, THANK YOU! My husband was put in a room right away, within hours we found out he had severe Pneumonia in both lungs. The Nurses and Doctors are very friendly, informative, knowledgeable and helpful. My husband got in a more comfortable room in a day and he stayed for 5 days. He is doing so much better now and we’re so Thankful for Piedmont!!! The deserve a million stars!

Very unhappy experience. Been here for 24 hours and was ordered a CT to rule out a stroke. However here I sit 24 hours later without a CT. Went down to imaging to be told i wasnt even on the list for a CT scan. This is a poor excuse for a hospital. My nurse at one point brought me medication and when I asked if it was the same medication I took last night her answer was "I'm not sure i haven't looked at your chart". I asked another time the results of my xray and her answer was "I havent looked yet" that's was 4 hours ago. This is absolutely the worse I've ever been treated. Transport came up to get me for CT and I end up having a ultra sound of the heart and an x ray? Unbelievable.

Several weeks ago I went to the ER with severe gut pains. I've had a history of ovarian cysts but hadn't had one in a while. I just wanted to make sure that the pain wasnt anything more than that and my appendix wasnt exploding or anything. I got there close to around midnight. It took two hours to have an ultrasound and confirm that it was indeed a cyst. After I was satisfied with that I was told to wait in a room where I sat for an additional FIVE + HOURS. They stabbed me in both arms to draw blood and for an IV. I insisted I didnt want an IV. They took a pregnancy test but if they had just asked me I would have assured them there was no possible way that I was pregnant unless I was the next virgin Mary or something. No pain medication was given for the hours that I was doubled over and in tears. I finally begged to be sent home and they said I could go and they would send me a follow up based on the bloodwork. I received no follow up. I was hit with a bill a month later for 7,000. Charging me for the IV, the blood and pregnancy tests (that I didnt ask for) along for a whopping 2000 charge for being able to sit in that room unattended for 7 or 8 hours. I only asked for the ultrasound so I could confirm it was a cyst. Trying to work this situation with billing but I wish I could give this place less than 1 star.

Food service needs to be changed due to inconsistency in service. This is something nurses and doctors can't change....it falls on management and higher ups. My stay was decent. Communication is like most basic companies, inconsistent and lacking. Services provided were good....as long as you weren't too emotional or had a nice approach towards staff. We all have bad days, especially when wanting to to leave the psyche unit. Also, have to advocate b.c for yourself or have the number to the patient advocate if you are unable to communicate well with staff. Really enjoyed most of the staff. I plan on seeking outpatient intensive therapy through them.

My doctor, Dr. Hilton performs surgeries at Piedmont in Rock Hill. When Dr. Hilton told me I would need surgery and it would be performed at Piedmont it gave me pause for a moment because I had previously seen some negative reviews. I was assured the Women's Tower received wonderful reviews and that all would be great. I do love my Dr. and trust her very, very much so I went ahead with the surgery, 13 days ago today. I have to say that every single person I dealt with was so sweet, helpful and knowledgeable, all of the volunteers, Patient Access Reps., all of the Nurses pre-op, op, and post-op, Anesthesiologists, and of course my doctor. It did end up being an outpatient surgery but they made sure I was ok to leave and never made me feel rushed. They were all so sweet and really seemed to care to get to know me and make sure that I had the best experience. I have nothing negative to say. I hope others whom have had positive experiences like me will post too. Had there have been more positive posts I would not have stressed it at all. Thank you all at Piedmont :)

Nathan Smith

Horrible. Will file with state against license to operate.

Robin Hardy

My husband is there for surgery and they decided to keep him. The nurse yesterday day shift was so awesome, however at night the nurse was inattentive to him. We were told he should not throw up and when he did I buzzed the nurse I had to buzz her twice. As I looked out the door she was at the nurses station drinking water and fixing her hair. When she FINALLY came to the room (20 minutes later) she acted like I hate it here and who cares you threw up. Sure hope he can come home soon, these folks make me nervous! How can you have a screen in the room showing best care hospital when your staff does not care!

Rachel Lewis

I've asked for water 3 times. And I haven't received anything. I'm perfectly cleared to drink. The doctor saw me for maybe 4 minutes and left. He didn't care or was interested at all. The room isn't clean. The nurses use foul language. This is one of the worst visits. And I used to think highly of this place.

Joseph Bednarik

This was the worst hospital I have ever been at. My mother in law was there because of a traffic accident. It started at the ER, seemed like no one knew what they were doing. When they finally got her a room after ten hours the nursing was nonexistent. She was not suspose to move on her own and the nurse would not even help her to the bathroom. We are trying to get her out of this so called hospital as soon as possible.

Shandrel Clark

Only gave it 1 star because I couldn't rate otherwise. I would rather die in traffic on my way to Charlotte before i go to this hospital

Sam Lee

Great place to go if you want to die...there are people in the ER who have been waiting 5+ hours to just talk to a doctor

Lachondra Steele

So unprofessional i had been there since 7am no one in waiting but me and my baby people started coming man there for five mins went straight back my child has been throwing up since 3am this morning i hate this place i really do why they just can't build another hospital i walked out and went to her doctor its never a good experience here never so sad.

Kebo Seal

This place needs shut down.very bad people working here

Ed Haynes

The place is an absolute nightmare, but they have a monopoly strangle hold. They are concerned only with maximizing profit an stacking as many bodies in the hall as they can.

Jennifer Hinton

Visited the hospital on Sunday September 22,2019. We were sent there from Riverview Medical. The ER was a mess, the floors were dirty chairs were nasty and I even witnessed some of the staff being very rude to patients and family members. Now I will say that the dr who treated my son was very courteous and friendly, but the rest of the visit was very bad.

Sally Dennison

This is the Worst hospital, there have been patience coughing up blood that had been here since 3PM on 5/22/19 it's now around 3 AM 5/23/19 and was told another person who came in later will be seen before him. We have been here for 7 hours and counting. I will not make the mistake of coming here again.

don humphrey

We just used their facility this past weekend when my son was injured in a baseball game. We can only say great things about the facility and the staff. He was checked in very quickly the staff was very caring and knowledgeable. Our doctor was great and we couldn't have been happier.

Amanda Diolosa

As soon as my daughter and I arrived we were addressed immediately and informed the staff of her 104

Tania Guerrero

I want to the E.R. On 1/31/2019 it took them a long time to call us for a room but there were other people that come in before us and the were in first is. When my daughter had a fever of 104.0 And when they give a room. They give us a bed in the hallway were waiting and waiting tell the nurse came to check on us. We’re in the hallway at 9:50pm the nurse did not check on us till 10:40pm at some time we had to go to the ex ray room. But I did not talk to a doctor at all or nurse at all. I was confuse why is my 7 year going to take a ex ray if no had came and check on her. We did not Heard nothing from the doctor or the nurse on till they told we could go home. I am never going to take my daughter there again And the time thing happened again when my 3 year we want to the E.R on 2/1/2019 b/c she had a fever of 104.0 when her fever was not breaking. So the nurse she got was rude . Forcing my daughter to take some medicine while we came in and somebody give her some medicine in a cup sugar drink it no the nurse said to shove it in her mouth this is stupid why do they give you a cup . I am sure that I am not coming back with both of daughters to be Treated like this again

krlexi deegan

Horrible doctor I had. His name was Charles eaves and he did absolutely nothing. This is a horrible hospital they don’t tell you anything and they are dirty. Worst hospital ever. Very disappointed. Left in excruciating pain and told me I was constipated. They will be hearing from the state

Vnetta Ingram

My daughter had been complaining about her right side and her back hurting and rated her pain as a 7.5. She had seen her dr the day before and the dr said if the pain persists take her to the er. We get there and sit for 6 hrs for them to say that it is a stomach ache. The original dr that was treating her was rude and left during the shift change and the new dr on call never came to check on her while we were waiting for test results. They gave her nothing for pain at all, so she was laying there in pain while waiting. I had to go to the nurses station and ask how much longer because she hadn't eaten and it was getting later in the night. They then called the dr and he said I don't know what it is, I gonna say its a bad tummy ache and to follow up with her pediatrician. Out of all the staff that we encountered on 3 people were nice and courteous, 2 nurses and the night security guard in the er. Worst place ever, should have went to levines in charlotte. This place needs to be closed down!!!

M

Ms. DEBBIE and Ms. AMANDA in Billing Excellent Experience!

Laturia Adams

My mom was admitted on July the 4. Piedmont facility is not at all caring of their patients!!! They have a few great nurses that love what they do. I must PRAISE the nurse tech Mary Lou. She took great care of my mom! She reheated her food and did a great job over all!!!Thank you Mary Lou!!!

Heather

I wish I could give a lower rating. I am not a nurse or doctor and have never claimed to be. However, my own education better prepared me to be a nurse than half the staff at this hospital. I interacted with several nurses who were not only rude but were lazy. They would do whatever necessary to sit on their butt and gossip like a bunch of back row Baptists. You cannot even leave your loved one because the staff is so incompetent it is up to you to demand certain care for your loved one as they will do nothing if given the chance. I rarely, if ever, complain and/or speak poorly about an institution. I understand that many are doing the best they can and that public service is challenging as I am a teacher. However, if you choose to enter the public service field you need to understand and have some form of work ethic. The individuals at this hospital have no work ethic and absolutely no desire to truly help their patients.

I'm lucky to be alive. Major car accident, traumatic incident. My world got rocked. Car is totaled. I dont even live around here!!! But if it wasnt for the efforts of EMTS and the exceptional staff at Peidmont Medical Center, I wouldnt know what to do next. Michelle in ER got me calm enough to realize it's not the end of the world. From there, the entire staff at the Progressive Care Unit helped me stay upbeat while I figure out the next chapter of my life. I may have lost how I lived, but I didnt lose my life. Thanks Peidmont. I owe you everything.

Me and my mom were just up their and they mistreated her. They gave her no medicine and didn’t even pay her any attention. Worst hospital ever.

My 84 year old dad was in Piedmont Medical Center. He has dementia, a fractured hip, he did not have his hearing aids. He was approached by a therapist who questioned whether or not he wanted therapy. He did not want the therapist near him or to hurt him. As a result, the therapist stated to my dad's insurance company that he was unwilling to participate in therapy. As a result, my dad's insurance will not cover his future costs for rehab. I questioned the case worker, she was able to grant another therapist visit. I warned her that he is not capable to make a decision regarding therapy (or simple decisions), however, there were the same results. It is really a shame that this hospital allows their staff to knowingly report a false decision that will cost my dad about $230/day going forward as opposed to allow his insurance to pay for 20 days of rehab. It makes me wonder if the cold hearted employees receive bonus for saving the insurance companies money. I never thought i would see the day where hospital patients do not have the support of the hospital staff. I was warned by many Rock Hill residents to keep away from that hospital because bad things can happen. I did not heed the warnings of the Rock Hill residents. I hope the readers will read the reviews and keep their distance

I was admitted to Piedmont for a week. I was on the pacu floor. All my nurses were excellent and my doctor Jessica Holt went the extra mile to get my diagnosis. Thank you to the staff at Piedmont.

If I could rate zero I would. First I was an admit at the request of my cardiologist bc some heart concerns. The hospitalist cursed me and told me that it is not their job to find out what was wrong with me but their job was to make sure I wasnt actively dying. He then gave orders for me to be discharged, my blood pressure had been elevated from the time I was admitted on Christmas eve until my discharge on Christmas day however, I was not given anything for it the entire time. When the nurse came in to dx me I ask her if I was going to receive a dose of the new med since the dr. changed my ex and she told me no I could just get the rx filled the next day. She sends me home and later that night I end up back with a bp160/100s. The md does order me meds to drop bp and then discharges me, before I can even get out the er I fall and hit my head, reinjured my back and shoulder. The staff just stood their looking at me, however they readmitted me. No one did any neuro checks and when the md realized that I was a nurse she went out of my room to.warn the staff. Too late. I am embarrassed as a healthcare worker to know that fellow healthcare workers treat patients the way they treated me!!!!!

nanna jules

In 4 days my bed was never changed. They have sent me home way too soon, I am still very sick. Six years agp I was there for an outpatient procedure and I died on the table. Once again no one listened to me. I'm not giving them a second chance to kill me.

This is a long one, but worth a read. If you have options for ANYWHERE but here you should take them. I have never seen a more disorganized, to the point of dangerous to patients, hospital in my life which is impressive considering I was an EMT and a significant number of my family members are medical professionals in various rolls at several major hospitals and other medical facilities. I came to the facility via ambulance late night exhibiting symptoms of severe dehydration, waited for an hour upon arrival to see anyone. Got into a room, met the doctor, who did NO EXAM. Was given a chest x-ray and a CT scan, and a blood panel was collected. 3 liters of fluids were then administered, the bags ran dry and symptoms returned almost immediately, my family flagged down a nurse who said she would get a doctor. 2 hours went by, the same nurse returned and said I was being discharged with a zofran prescription for nausea that I wasn't experiencing. I asked again for the doctor because cramping was returning. Her response was "What do you want me to do about it, this is the doctors order." I got halfway home and lost muscular control of my hands an feet again and began to feel light headed. Returned to the hospital and my arms and legs again were seized. A second doctor (the only decent doctor I saw) came in and did an initial exam and more blood work to confirm the "concerning" findings of the initial blood work. Added a magnesium drip and another 500mL IV. When the results of the blood work came back I was admitted immediately. This was around 5am. Day 1, Monday, meals came on schedule, no shower available because there was no curtain. Blood work was collected again. A prescription for potassium, calcium (tums), and fluids was given. An additional magnesium bag was given. Vitals were taken every other hour or so during the day. Dinner was served, dinner plates and such were collected, vitals were taken one more time, I saw no doctor all day. After dinner service, the night nurse checked in and introduced himself. I did not see a medical professional again until phlebotomy showed up in the morning. No more vital checks, no IV check, still no shower curtain. Day 2, blood work collected again, before meds. Vitals taken around 10am, about the same time meds were delivered, vitals taken again every other hour or so till dinner. Met with a doctor who requested a vitamin D test after lunch, and the issue was found, a vitamin D deficiency so vitamin D pills added to prescription regime. Also first time seeing a doctor in 2 days. Got the okay to take a shower around 2pm, IV was unhooked. Shower curtain was delivered at 7pm after several requests. nurse shift changed, was informed that there was no script for the IV so no need to hook it back up. I asked why I was still there if they weren't going to be doing anything. No answer. Again another night of no vitals. Day 3, another blood panel, more meds, still no IV. Day shift nurse came in around 8:30 I asked about the IV and she was visibly startled and hooked it back up at a higher rate. Doctor came in reviewed blood work asked how the IV was doing, and was SHOCKED that I hadn't been connected all night. He said the electrolytes were still off, one more night in the hospital. At this point I requested a meeting with administration. Basically I was being kept for observation but no one was observing anything. Again, IV ran dry and was disconnected so I could shower, again it was never refilled or hooked back up. Another night of no check ins, no meds, generally no care whatsoever. Day 4, nurse again showed up and frazzled hooked up another IV. The charge nurse came in to review the file for discharge and noticed that another component wasn't right. At this point 4 different docs, and two managers had missed it. I met with three department managers from 10 to around noon, and a hospitalist around 1pm and was discharged. Set up an appointment with my primary care, she reviewed the files and it was a TRAINWRECK. Care was abysmal and not correct from the start.
