Danny Gainey was in hospital on the 5th floor. I would like to thank all of his nurses for the greät care and super sweet attitudes. Best hospital stay I have ever experienced. Thank you.

Sandra Hill

On July102017, I was in a car accident, upon arriving taken straight to the waiting area where I tried to tell them it hurt to breathe and was in excruciating pain they paid me no attention although I kept telling them how bad it was needless to say I sat out there for 4hrs . Come to find out I had 9 broken ribs and both collar bones plus a fracture of my upper back. Compassion there are some that do but the ones in the er registration really suck !!

My mother went in at 1:30 am with a gash on her head from a fall out of her bed. It took nearly 6 hours before she was attended by an ER doctor. The first nurse that attended her did not seem to know what she was doing and was always calling on another nurse to help her with little things like taking blood pressure and changing g a diaper. The room was filthy with trash on the floor and the trash can was overflowing. Needless to say we were SO disappointed!

The most racist thing I have ever seen I filled out Survey and this was the question! A disgrace and I will be going to National News! Hopefully we can share this !

Brian Parrott

Slow slow slow and unprofessional. Takes an entire shift to see one patient. This place needs to get real. We didn't come to the emergency room to be put on hold. What a waste of time.

Jenny Lowery

Staff is friendly and quick to respond. The hospital is very nice

My mom was admitted to McLeod and the staff went above and beyond to care for my mom. Her nurses on the 11th floor were amazing.

STEPHANIE BRIGGS

My son is in the emergency room now and in a lot of pain. The nurses he has are so nasty and rude, I wish I knew there names. They also have the security guards in their corner when he begging for medicine for pain, and they are taking their time and refusing to help him. This is so disappointing. I never had an experience like this at this hospital.

Rod Richardson

My Mother was in a triple rollover accident in Marion, and was taken to Marion Medical, not really sure why. I arrived 5 hours later, because I live 25 miles outside of Atlanta. It was obvious she was not receiving adequate care in Marion, and someone suggested McLeod as a trauma rated hospital, so I requested that she be transferred to McLeod. The difference in service and treatment was like being in a different country. I honestly believe McLeod Medical saved my Mothers life, because she was in dire shape after having been in Marion for 5 hours, with inadequate treatment. The staff, Drs and nurses, were wonderfully professional and the care of my Mother was first rate life saving. Thank you McLeod Medical for saving my Mothers life, I've never experienced better medical care!!

Robert Tuttle

Went to emergency had trouble breathing Sat in waiting room for 5.5 hours couldn't breath gasping for air

Porscha Williams

This is the worst hospital to go to in SC. My sister went to see a doctor for her leg,and literally have been there for 9 hours without seeing a doctor. When you get to the back the nurses and doctors are on their cell phones, engaging in random conversations. Most of them act like they don't know their jobs or act like they are high on drugs. I absolutely hate going to this hospital. I regret using them as my go to for my delivery. If you need to see a reliable doctor please go to MUSC because you will be on a 12hr shift with the doctors and nurses if you go here.

Kim Norwood

If I could give less stars i would i suffer from epilepsy and PTSD I kept going to the er saying how I was feeling Friday morning I should up told the doctor I can't take it anymore and I was suicidal Dr laughed at me and said I was living i received no help

Media Man

I've had many stays here along with using their care for cardiac nephroloy and wound care. I would recommend this medical system to all.

Candi M.

I came from out of state to visit a family member. I am highly disappointed. To be such a huge and well-known facility, the housekeeping and maintenance is terrible. The parking deck elevator was dirty and stink with a wet floor. A major hazard. The restroom downstairs in the lobby/foyer was filthy with overflowing trash and no soap. Really? This is a hospital. It should be clean at all times. Ridiculous.

Tabatha Parsons

The care they gave my baby in the NICU was exceptional

Emergency room waits times are aweful, that is the only reason I didn't give them 5 stars. When using the E.R. they normally swamped and it takes 3-6 hours to been put in a room unless you are in there for a life threatening reason. Even by ambulance for car accidents, if you are not dying you will have to wait what seems like an eternity. The staff on the other hand are professional, nice, and they try to empathize.

Very professional and great service. Cardiology staff saved my life.

Staci Euten

My mother in law is in a room there an I called to get them to transfer me to her room An receptionist had a nasty attitude they need to train them better IN that area of service

Rose Long

You wait three hours just to go in the room and let them guess what is wrong with you... they don’t take the time and run test all because they don’t feel like being bothered with it!!! In Whitney Richey, NP words it’s a waste of her time!!!!

The level of care has taken a downward spiral since 2009. You have doctors that's more concern about Medicare rules, than the patients health. You have nurses, especially on the third floor observation main tower that don't take the time to communicate with the patient or the patient's family members and administer medication to the patient. When asked about the medication the nurse seems to become frustrated that someone is actually questioning their judgment.

Rochelle Coleman

We waited 2 1/2 hrs to get a room the the doctor said she couldn't deal with my daughter's situation right now, so they sent us back to the waiting room, so family, we had to go through a different door to get to the back to where there were no rooms over just curtains covering the bed, the whole time at the hospital took 5 hours, my daughter had a virus. But nothing back took surgery or anything, so why will we meet y'all for 5 hours, things to make it so bad, I had just got off of work before I brought her to the hospital, so I was exhausted, we were in the back, my daughter was sleeping in the bed, I slept next to her and after they took blood and her urine they made us get come from out of the back and into the waiting area again, we were the only patient, my daughter was the only patient they did like that, very unprofessional, very inconsiderate. And ridiculous long wait not to mention the hospital has dirty floors the walls are dirty everything is old the bed linen was dirty not the bed we laid in but the bed they ask her to take her blood pressure in I will never go back to this hospital as long as I can help it

Fernanda Hernandez

Took my son to the ER this morning for fever and they treated us sooo well. So worth the drive to Florence from hartsville

Sheila Cummings

The staff in the heart / vascular ICU were outstanding with my uncle. The nurse was very patient and caring and kept us informed, answering all of our questions. I think Dr Hazelwood's roll there is also one of ministry. Although they were not able to save my uncle's life because of multiple problems, the staff was very supportive in our decision to remove him from life support. They made this process easier because of their care and counsel. After my uncle passed, Dr Hazelwood sang a hymn over him. Never have I experienced such a caring doctor.

Avoid McLeod ER in Florence.

Unfortunately I have first hand experience of the healthcare or lack thereof, which is provided by the doctors and nurses at McLeod in Florence, SC. I have had various elderly relatives admitted on a monthly basis at McLeod in Florence, SC throughout this past year. I must say that the blatant lack of empathy, human kindness or compassion displayed by doctors, nurses and especially the "tech's" is truly a cause for alarm. The people of this community desire so much more than the completely uncaring, disregarding and outright disrespectful employees of McLeod. From the Emergency Room to the various hospital floors especially 8th floor and now we have also experienced the staff on the 3rd floor. The hospital doctors are there only to cover this facility to satisfy Insurance policy. These doctor have no regard for the well being of the patients or any human or moral respect for family members. Nurses follow the same path and techs might as well be non-existent because the majority of them are simply there to collect their pay checks. These "professionals" tend to forget that they too are human and so are those whom they love and care about. Mcleod needs to provide professional development training to their entire employee population on the meaning of customer service, human compassion and empathy for those suffering from illness and sickness. The entire staff is completely unkind, non-caring and many times, down right criminally incompetent. Hospital doctors fail to communicate with each other, the nurses and/or especially the patients and their families. Nurses don't want to be bothered and clearly do not have the expertise to dispense medications in a professional manner. And when the patient and/or family members have questions they become quickly annoid and rude. The techs on the other hand should not even bother to clock in. They consistently ignore requests from patients for changing, ADL's, or assistance to the bathroom. Patients go unwashed, soiled and lay in dirty bed linen for days and most times have to repeatedly beg staff for assistance. The floor are filthy, trash cans overflowing with soiled chucks which are left behind in patient rooms in open trash cans by the techs. Nurses come into room and stove pills, IV meds and shots on elderly patients without informing them of which meds are being given. When questioned they ignore patients or become rude. Hospital doctors are so busy trying to adhere to insurance company and hospital policies until they fail to act on behalf in the best interest of patients and the best care needed by each individual. Animals in slaughter houses receive better care than the patients at Mcleod on any given day of the week. This hospital needs to retrain ALL staff in ethics, human morality and holistic care for all patients. Patients should not be treated "routinely", but "individually" according to their healthcare needs. To add injury to insult they then have the nerve to charge insurance companies hundreds and thousands of dollars for subpar and often misdiagnosed treatments. There is NO CARE for the patients in this community. There is access, but NO access to quality healthcare for the people who are served by this facility. Word of advice to administration, retrain your staff and vet in your hiring practices.

They have no compassion for any patients. My father is diabetic, in congested heart failure, high blood pressure..neuropathy so bad he can barely walk. He developed a horrible ulcer on his foot. It took us days to get him to finally go and the ER doctor asked why he came in and wasted people's time!!! We were in route to get to Florence from San Antonio TX or I would have tore the whole staff especially the doctor a new one

Jackie Robinson

They were very nice, friendly and courteous service very good

When we first arrived, nurse Hope was great! She made sure my mom got back to a room so they could start running test. She even came back to check on my mom! Very sweet and caring nurse. You can tell nurse Hope cares for the patients and isn’t just there to be there. However, once we got back. The doctor seemed to take his time with every single thing. No one had an update for us until 12:30AM and we got there around 6:30-7PM. Jessica the nurse was very unprofessional and seemed as if she did not understand none of our questions. She NEVER came in the room with an update. Even though they have a sign that states “one of our staff members will be in every hour to update you on your progress.” We had to ask other nurses on the floor for an update. The first time Jessica even stated”I won’t know nothing. You all will know something before I ever will.” Why would anybody say this to a patient? Just very unprofessional and seemed as if she did not care. You mean to tell me you don’t chart notes for your patient the entire time your patient is there? The room and hospital was very dirty. It just seemed as if no one cared. Jessica even bought in a dirty cart to do my mother’s blood work. It had someone else previous blood work on the cart. Jessica also was very slow with answering our questions. She also just seemed to just be “there.” But never was she attentive to her patient nor my mom questions and or concerns. I even asked to speak the director and she never gave me her information nor informed the lady. Being that I work in the field, I was very upset with the care my mom received from the time she got an room until her discharge. I would not recommend this hospital for any type of care at all. This was my mom third time going to this ER within the same week! And hopefully this time she has the right answers so she can start her recovery.

I normally love this hospital, but it seems as though their ER has been extremely understaffed as of late. We had a miscarriage in their ER and it was 7-8 hours before we were even taken back. Now my grandmother has fallen and we are in the same situation. Maybe I am missing something but I just think that a top notch facility like this would have better staffing.

Lakesha Watson

Brittany Pinckney

Er doctors and nurses are rude they don't do their job correctly they make you wait hours and hours wouldn't be coming back here ever again they are very racist also the little nurses come into the intake room and get our blankets and give to a white patient and my mom was cold and there was no way for my mom to warm up. Smh I would file a civil complaint against McLeod er staff.

Nanette Saunders

ICU staff and doctors have been wonderful. Beautiful facility. Numerous calls to business office unanswered--no response to our requests for simple information. Delayed filing with our insurance agent. Hospitals in Charlotte don't act like that.

this is the worst hospital ever. friend was recently brought in for od ing on pills and possible alcohol poisoning. the "doctor " didn't even examine her. I swear. they drew no blood. didn't test her levels. they hooked her up to an iv for 1/2 hour and told her to go . she was clearly under the influence. isn't it illegal to allow someone to leave in that condition ? oh yes...and the doctor said we don't have time to get you into detox .

Michael Blair

Take my advice stay clear of McLeod! Especially ER Dr. James. I think she must have gotten her degree from some remote island. Example of the ER, I was struck by a semi truck and these dumdasses MISSED a broken vertebrae in my back and neck. Surgery to the tune of nearly $250,000 at a hospital in Atlanta. Dr. James was not attending that day but miss diagnosed problems my wife was having. WTF!

Debbie Wilkerson

My deceased husband and I were patients at McLeod many, many times. We NEVER had a bad experience. They have always been my choice...my only hospital. The staff are absolutely wonderful, as well as the physicians. I cannot say enough about Dr. McKay, Dr. Pavy, and Dr. Player. They are wonderful and compassionate. I have read the other reviews, and I cannot believe that people had that experience. All I can say is that it is definitely not typical of this hospital, and if you are in need of great medical attention, then you should choose McLeod in Florence.

Mikisha Townsend

The Children's Hospital 3rd Floor Nurse Chasity, English, and Brandi was so helpful and sweet they all treated and took care of my daughter during her stay for 4days!!! WONDERFUL NURSES!!!

This place is a joke

I 100% feel like because my baby son didn't live, that they wasn't so concerned about my proper care. I've been in pain for hours & no order has been made. I also feel like they could have saved my son. Just a horrible experience. Need new staff

Tyrone Greene

They have some of the most disrespectful nursing and the people who operate the phone are just discriminating humans/animals.. Go to Carolinas if you can..

Junior Reaves

The staff take great care of the patients.

We've had good results in the past, but this time really put me over the edge, came in a 7:30 pm with my wife having chest pains and shortness of breath. Had a quick EKG, then sent back out to wait. almost Four hours later were still waiting. We don't what we're waiting on, I went to the desk to ask and was basically brushed off and told to continue to wait. No time give as to when she could go back. All the while experiencing chest pain and shortness of breath. The indifferent and unconcerned attitude from the invidual at the desk was very unprofessional in fact he was almost rude. Giving me the brush off had convinced me that even though Carolinas is a lesser Hospital in size and reputation, I'll not come back here. Carolinas has never been rude to us. I'm surprised and shocked that someone would have to sit here and suffer for so long...In fact, my Mother had a heart attack last month and SAT here in this ER for three hours before going back. I've lost all confidence in this place. After tonight we won't be back...

Crystal Foxworth

Everyone is always nice and the facility is well maintained.

The staff are really warm and welcoming. My grandmother was transported here because of a bladder infection McLeod Health in Clarendon failed to treat. Within two days, her bladder infection is nearly gone and she is now responding to me and my family. Plus their food court is an amazing amenity.

Roshella Mcdowell

I am presently siting in an ER room with the door closed and I can hear one of the staff members tell another patient's family member that he wasn't in the mood and that this is a free country do what he wants. What happened to the Excellent patient care that is posted up in these rooms? Isn't customer service and professionalism a part of that? Then after the verbiage, the staff member is continuing to loudly discuss the patient's family's member's bad attitude where anyone in the ER can hear him. Oh not to mention I've been here since 9:30 and it's now 3:15 and I STILL don't have a clue what's ailing me! NO ONE, Doctor, nurse, CNA, medic, has bothered to come tell me the results of a urine analysis or blood test, or the CT scan YET! Poor service, poor customer service, no professionalism!

Great nurses that are very loving to the ones they take care of and their family

Marie Pyatte

Very nice staff was helpfull as they could be to my son.would choose this place ober the other one hands down.

Horrible hopsital. If you want your family members to live, avoid this place.

Willie Matthews

Went to the Dr for help they gave me a practiconal instead of a real doctor. Her service was terrible.i don't think she knew what she was doing

Gaye Cox

Don't be inpatient on the weekends! Sucks! Daughter in terrible pain and nurses were always at least 1 hour to come check on you. Left sitting in chair for over 1 hour waiting for bed change and to be hooked back up to IV. Bled all over the bathroom floor and my sister had to clean it up. Horrible experience in room 1031

Gary Bray

Waiting 3 hours since 6:10 am and no information. Nothing

Dominque Washington

those new ER doctors never again i wish they just build a new hospital and bring to florence while i was visiting a co workers the nurses was in the hall talking about patients. and the Dr. that was on call that day omg she never orderd blood work for my manager or nothing just gave her a xray she went to the other hospital and they found blood clot like really smh everybody is not addicted mam sir to pain meds. the gossiping of the nurses was ridicolus very ridicolus at least the lady that was answering the nurse call buttons was very nice and friendly. why do people get into the health field and not concern about the well being of others and yes the dr that was on call 1/8/19 in the er.

John Funk

McLeod in Dillon is great. Great nurses and Dr Oden is the best. HOWEVER, I was admitted to McLeod Florence ICU for a head injury in late January of 17, after being cleared for release by neurologist, cardiologist, and pt Dr Lawsin and Dr Goduru refused to let me go. Without a judge's order to hold me there they ordered armed guards to forcibly confiscate my prosthetic leg braces, walking cane, clothes, and cell phone to prevent me from leaving or calling for assistance from friends and family or the police. I demanded to be released every day for over a week to no avail. For reasons unknown to me they finally returned my belongings and allowed me to leave on February 9th with no explanation. It was a horrible experience I will never be able to forget.

Charles Bass

All the Nurses were great, gave gift certificates to a couple. Doctors need more training on keeping nurses and families informed on the patients. No one knew anything about family member till I called administration. My mother said she had not had that much attention the whole week she was there.

I Jones

McLeod Health is a scam. There is NO OVERSIGHT! There is NO ACCOUNTABILITY! There is NO COMPASSIONATE CARE! McLeod Health has shown me time and again that they don't care about their patients! McLeod Health has shown me that they don't care about the actions of their doctors! If you have a complaint about treatment at McLeod, they DO NOT want to hear it! Why would they? It's a good ol' boy system, one of the most insidious types. McLeod Health employees are treated like royalty when they are sick and see McLeod physicians, but the rest of us are treated like garbage. McLeod employees can misread easily interpreted tests and still keep their jobs! McLeod doctors can ignore ordering relevant and life saving procedures and tests and still keep their jobs! How many people have to suffer at the hands of incompetent McLeod doctors before a system of oversight and accountability is installed? McLeod will throw your account to the wolves of collection agencies without a second thought, yet they bristle at the notion that their physicians are incompetent and haven't earned their money. They don't want to hear complaints and won't take you seriously no matter the case!

This is just sad.... Family member is in for mental health, I was in the back with that person, came out, now I'm not allowed to go back to that person after sitting with them for over 3 hours. The staff are all ride, people who Need to be seen aren't being seen and it's sad and pathetic service. I won't even comment on the 'cleaness' of this whole place. I'm extremely dissatisfied with all of these people and this place.

It is currently 6 am and I have been here since midnight. We have been waiting on a wound to be cleaned and bandaged for over an hour. The actually procedure should only take a few minutes. My fathers pain level was at a 10 when we came in and we still waited in the waiting room until 4am. The nurses and staff have been nice enough, but the lack of urgency has been terrible.

Ken Dario

I have read some of these reviews, and i might say, some were kind of harsh and maybe well deserved , but i have been there 3 times in two weeks and all i saw was the opposite of the remarks. Everyone was as nice as they could be. Only problem i had and this is the reason i dont give it a 5 is, i have two broken feet and cant use anyone of them until whenever, but in the pickup area there were at least 4 if not 5 grown men standing there that parks your cars for you, just stood there and watched my wife and granddaughter struggle so hard to side me on a board into the car and not one offered to help them. That was very sad. Maybe they work off tips. But even a no worker if they are any kind of man would have at least offered to help.

KD POLO

My wife and mother-in-law works there, but my favorite nurse is Ms. Bo. No one else could get me to take my meds while I was suffering from pneumonia due to aspiration from a surgery I had in Jacksonville, FL. She was firm and motherly till this day I still hold her in high regards. You Rock Ms. Bo

Brittany Smith

Staff were polite and professional. They really cared about my recovery. I would definitely recommend them over Carolina pines

Ricky Rivers

Here with my niece shes not feeling good but God is able

They were very quick at calling peoples to the back to be seen

The service is really slow, and the lobby is dirty. They will have you waiting for about 2hours before they decided to see you.

I would not recommend this place to the dead. My grandson got worse after being there for 24 hrs. We asked to have him transferred to another hospital and they refused to sign the paper even refused to release him. They decided to get a allergy specialist in and not one time did he look at my grandsons body but wanted to diagnose him. After so many complaints we finally got him released after being there for 2 1/2 days. As soon as we got him out of there we rushed him straight to Columbia palmetto for children and we finally got the help he needed. If did not get him to Columbia my grandson would have died.

Randall Gerber

Good hospital. Broad range of services.

Emily R

I think I'd rather just die than go the emergency room at this place again.

Candace Dixon

Very nasty nurses when asking questions. Instead of working they are just sitting there talking to one another looking at patients in pain and crying. I wouldn't refer a dog to come to the emergency room here.

I am 69 years old and this was the first time I have ever spent more than a few hours night (2 nights) in a hospital. The professionalism of the staff was very impressive. The facilities were first class. Follow up was very personal and attentive to my recovery status. I would recommend anyone who seeks a state of the art, ,caring and trustworthy medical facility to go to McLeod. Special thanks to McLeod Family Medicine and Doctor Jason Heilemann for starting the detective trail to finding the root cause of my medical condition.

Redneckboie Ty

Over 5 hrs.in er.. An still don't know what's going on,,except admitting me .have not offer me anything to drink or anything at all.will not come here anymore unless I'm dead.

Maria Gonzalez

Every room in the emergency room is disgusting! No one in the emergency helps the patient. Nurses do not follow up with patient! You have to keep bugging the nurse station. Worse hospital ever! Hospitals up North should come down and train these folks.

Philip Blackwell

Last night, 3/23/2013, we spent almost 12 hours at McLeod ER. We arrived at 6 pm, waited 7 hrs to be seen. We watched countless people who did not seem to have any illness go in and out all night. When we asked the registration lady what was taking so long she told me that since we had a more urgent illness we required to be seen by a doctor instead of the nurse practitioner like the other people we had been seeing go in and out. I've never been to an ER where they take the less urgent ppl back first just because they can be seen quicker. That was the stupidest thing I'd ever heard. Well as we waited a few more hours my father in law (who we were there with) started having symptoms that were worse and more frequent than when we had arrived. I asked the lady again if he could revisit the triage nurse because of this. The nurse came over and asked what was wrong, said she would find out how much longer it would be and NEVER came back. 3 hours later another lady came to check on us and my father in law asked her again how much longer and she rudely told him "You were already told its because you have to see a dr" and stomped off. The rest of our wait time we watched through the glass as these ladies sat on their butts point at my father in law and whispering to each other, which is rude and unprofessional. When he was finally taken back at 1 am he was put in this ittty bitty room and it was FREEZING in there. I went out and asked the nurse for a blanket and when i went to go back into the room i heard her behind my back "these people need to make up their minds hot then cold then hot then cold" at this point i had to fight the urge to slap the woman. The dr came around an hr later (she was great, nice change) when she left she sent the nurse in to do discharge, it took them 2.5 hrs to bring in discharge papers. I know they weren't waiting on anything like lab results and such because out of the drs mouth she already had all that information and she told me discharge shouldn't take more than 30 minutes. Also while we were waiting on the dr to come I went and got my family some dinner since we'd been waiting so long and when I came back the registration lady hit me up for some of the food i brought back. Majority of the people we came into contact with were very rude and unprofessional and the level of care was sooooo ridiculous. I imagine if you were there for no serious reason you'd be ok but I would NEVER go back with anything that could be life threatening. Also just for the record my father in law symptoms were very much in line with a possible stroke. And we still waited 7 hrs to see someone.

Bailey Adams

My great aunt fell down the stairs at her house and we rushed her here. She had a hole in her intestines and her kidney's failed. Even her lungs collapsed. She was put on a machine that breathed for her. The nurses were hard to find and when you found them they were sitting around talking. They clearly did not know what they were doing. One day they took out the tube that gets her to breathe. We came to see her and she was struggling to breathe. We asked the nurses to come help her and they said "It was normal". Around twenty minutes later she coded and had to be resuscitated using CPR. This cycle repeated 3 times. She died three times. There is no excuse for this. I hope my great Uncle sues the pants off of everyone in that building. We had to transfer her because y'all could not do your jobs. Then we were told she had brain damage. Then one nurse told us she didn't. This cycle repeated 2 times until we were finally told she didn't. It's so sad to have such a nice building with worthless nurses and doctors. The only thing I found satisfactory was the Starbucks.

I would give them negative stars if I could. I have been accused of being a drug addict here. Asked if I have aids when they found out I am gay. I have been having panic attacks and was told by doctor Anthony L Bostick that he isn't a psychiatrist and I should try to exercise. I will NEVER go back here. I don't care if I would die on the way to any other hospital. I would love to see this place be destroyed and put out of commission.

My wife received a service at McLeod and paid in full before leaving with the understanding at McLeod would file with BCBS SC. We have a receipt. After many requests to file, McLeod filed showing that they had not been paid and raised the amount owed. We have made many attempts, and McLoud will not file correctly with BCBS SC so the dollars we gave them do not show towards our deductible. To make matters worse McLeod falsely claims that my wife saw an ER Doctor and was seen on multiple days.

I’m here sitting for 2 plus hours at the Florence ER, and I’ve complained about vomiting and diarrhea for 7 straight hours. Instead of giving me fluids because I’m so dehydrated that my skin is wrinkling they want me to piss in a cup and take blood samples. Y’all

I have had so many problems at this hospital I don't know where to start. The biggest was the death of my father who went in for routine gall bladder operation and ended up dying due to the neglegience of so many people. His cardiologist, surgeon and the nurses. Since there is limited space what actually ended up killing him was being sent home with orders that only said see you DR in 2 weeks. When we got him home on Easter Sunday he aked where his oxygen was, we didn't know what he was talking about, and I couldn't get anyone on the phone that knew, on Monday at being on the phone for hours I find out before he came home Home Health should have been there and set up not just oxygen, but a hospital bed, walker, porta potty, etc, we did not get all this in place until 8:30pm, he went over 36hrs without the oxygen he needed, at 7:30pm on Tuesday he died in the ER.There is much more to this story but just let me caution you do not leave your loved one alone for a sec and question everything they do, look at the paperwork before you go home if something doesn't seem right ask about it. My dad was not given the care that McLeod loves to boast about in their pretty little glossy magazine, there are no smiling Drs. and very few smiling nurses, I wish everyday my mother would have sued that hospital but my family are just not that tyoe of people and she didn't feel she could go through something like that, it is a shame that this hospital gets away with all the unethical, illegal, fraud that they do.I will submit another post to explain my meaning behind that.

I had an appointment with Dr. Fanelli (McLeod Dermatology Associates) this month. I called the day before my appointment to confirm the time. I was shocked when I got the office voicemail stating that the office had closed down in February! Honestly, it wasn’t that the office was closed, it was that they never called to notify me. I would have driven almost an hour to get to their office. A courtesy call would have been professional.

I am the Walking Dead

The nurses were great to me! There is this one male tech who pulled and pulled the rubber band tourniquet until it gave me a rub burn with trying to draw blood. My arm was black and blue around that area. Then the new doctor comes in and sends me home right in the middle of hurricane Florence. I told him I live in a danger zone area and you are sending me back there in my condition. I have a server bowel obstruction and it had not resolved yet when he threw me out. His answer to this problem was to hand me a 12 page listing of shelters.. In my condition you want me in a shelter? Seriously!! When family and friends called to talk to management they hung up on everyone...even my kids. Food is horrible... Who eats sweet tomato soup? It was sweet like koolaid! Chicken salad sandwich was chicken on hard white bread and a mayo pack.. I don't even know why they ask what you want for your next meal because they never bring you what you order. I'd like to say that the nurses were great..

Save yourself time, effort, frustration, rage and more. If you are looking for quality care do not go to the Digestive Health facility here. I am sick and my life is suffering. My work is suffering, my family life is suffering, my sleep is suffering and my quality of life is terrible right now. Here is the process I have had to go through: I have an appointment, have to wait 1 week to get my results, have to wait 1 week for a follow up appointment for them to schedule another procedure that is a week out then a week for the results, a week for the follow up appointment. Do you see where I am going with this? I have been trying to figure out what is wrong with me FOR MONTHS. The straw that broke the camels back today, I spent 5 MINUTES....FIVE MINUTES in the with Dr today just so he could tell me the same thing the nurse told me over the phone A WEEK AGO and for him to tell me he was going to schedule me a surgical consult. So now I have to pay $50 for an office visit for him to tell me the same thing the nurse told me over the phone. WHY?! could that not have been done a week ago when my test results came back AND NOW I have to wait another WEEK for my surgical consult. No compassion, caring, empathy or urgency for someone who is sick. My father was in the army we moved around a lot I've been to several hospitals, had several different doctors, nurses, admin staff but I have never been treated like they didn't care and like I didn't matter and like my health concern was no big deal. This place is just the worst.

I’m so angry as I type this review. If i could do negative stars I would. After being in the healthcare field for over 10 years it’s very easy to recognize when someone is not receiving the care that he or she deserves. This is by far the worst place I’ve ever encountered. The care is not that of a trauma center. My cousin who was in a ATV accident was air lifted there within minutes of the accident. The ED doctor refuse to do any surgical procedures to reduce the swelling in his head, knowing that if they didn’t the damage would worsen. 48 hours into being in ICU, seeing that the medications and less invasive medical interventions won’t working they did nothing else but pump him with pain medicines that sedated him even more. There’s so many pieces to this puzzle. The neurosurgeons at this place failed my cousin! The failed his kids by not giving him a fair chance to live & watch them grow up! They failed his mother who now has to bury her son! They sat around and waited until the tissue in his brain completely died from the swelling! Don’t take your loved ones here! Yea there are some good reviews and we trusted the good ones when the not so good ones really told the true experience! He’s now gone and next week his mother has to bury her only son! I won’t let this rest! I will reach out to whomever to report the prolonged delays and refusal to provide definitive care. MCLeod Regional Hospital, we as a family will fight until we can’t fight anymore!

This is not the place you want to have a major surgery at. I have a story to share. I’ll be back when I get it all together from the notes I was able to keep on my phone. But I’m telling you this place must have gone downhill or something. Nursing staff and CNA staff need to be disciplined, many need to be fired! and they need to decide if this line of work is something they want to stick with because as it stands patients would be better off with new nurses rather than this sorry, lazy, whining, negligent bunch.

Kerry Wagoner

The ICU was outstanding! However, after 3 trips to the ER and treated very poorly I would not recommend this or any McLeod facility. I will take my chances at the local vet next time.

Nari Nari

Money hungry hospital. Just wants to use up your insurance, having done nothing for you. Ridiculous. Even if you were holding your head in your hands it would take 10 hrs for someone to see you. Worst place to be sick in. The rude staff makes it no better. I'd rather drive two hours to another hospital, than to put up with McLeod.

The process for registering for surgery is very slow and tedious with questions they have no reason to know the answer to. This place sure has gone downhill in the past few years.

I must encourage everyone who reads this review to avoid McLeod Gastro and the criminally incompetent, sorry excuse for a physician named John Wolford. Not only is he a useless human being and doctor who doesn’t order relevant tests because he thinks he can diagnose without relevant data, but his staff is also criminally incompetent and can’t read basic test results that have been summarized by other professionals! The might be some decent doctors at McLeod. However, the criminally incompetent gastroenterologists there do more harm than all the collective good of the others combined. McLeod doesnt care. There is NO OVERSIGHT of doctors. If you have an issue with a doctor, they don’t care and don't want to hear it. The administration doesnt care if their doctors are criminally incompetent. If McLeod truly cares about how their doctors treat people, they would send in folks to "play" patients in their system. Experience what the rest of us go through. PS, avoid scam artist and quack "doctor" John Wolford with every fiber of your being. He and his staff are dangerously and criminally incompetent.

Top notch people..my whole family has been here for different health problems wish I could give them 10 stars

Worst hospital on the planet. I first went to their little emergency clinic to try to get help, I get hives frequently so I asked since I was new to the area to call my doctor and to get what they do. After they got off the phone they COMPLETELY ignored everything my doctor said and gave me a different treatment which never works I tried to tell the but they did not listen to me. The next day I woke up and my hives were worse I called the emergency clinic back and THEY REFUSED TO SEE ME telling me to go to the hospital. I went there with an allergic reaction the day of my birthday and the nurse kept telling me I had no reason to be there because "nothing was wrong with me." Even though I was covered in hives. I just brushed it off because bad day sat there and relaxed as the IV drip did it's thing. I was on my way. Later that afternoon I ended up covered in hives for a third time but they were worse. I went back to the ER and asked what medications they gave me and they told me. It ended up being a medication I had REFUSED because I told them I was allergic to it. I walked back in and that same nurse was standing at the nurses station telling the others I was just there for drugs that there was nothing wrong with me. Mind you they rushed me back because the hives was on my face and my face was swelling, but no nothing was wrong with me. I called that next week and spoke to the administration and told them what happened they said that they would write my name and number down and they would get back to me. They never did. Then I called when I got my first bill talked to them again they promised to get back to me. I called in January they promised to get back to me. All times they told me not to worry about making payments on my bill that this matter would be taken care of. Now we're in February I still have not heard from them, and now my bill was sent to collections. I paid the bills to get them out of collections but I'm completely done with this hospital.

James Belangia

Going to the hospital is never fun, but the doctors and especially the nurses who cared for me during a 4 day stay here were AMAZING. From the ER to the Progressive ICU and the related people I dealt with, I would definitely recommend McLeod Regional Medical Center over any other hospital in the area.

None None

Awful medical staff. I consistently hear stories about McLeod that are terrifying. Insanity is a hallmark of this hospital.

Brie Eaddy

This is the WORST hospital ever came here because I’m pregnant was having severe abdominal pains and back pains after been in a car accident they did NOTHING but let me give a urine sample and told me to wait in the lobby after 4+ hours of waiting I decide to leave and go to another hospital they need to shut this place down !

I cannot seem to delete this review entirely. Here's the situation. There is a better service called Hometown Urgent Care in Hartsville, SC. That is where I would go; my experience was 1 star at McLeod but, after really thinking about it, I feel I can't judge the people there for my negative experience. They are all burnt out and it would actually do no good to say "well hey, there's an Urgent Care with just 1 person in Hartsville providing amazing care - treating people like Jesus said 'as oneself'". This is because lately I know what it's like to probably know deep in your heart you need to make a change, to be aware of it - to have it be public knowledge - just look at these reviews here - I am sure all the employees at McLeod have to face that at the end of the day - to feel like you are trying, you wish you could be better, you see other people doing better, you feel overwhelmed and then - you simply feel like it can't be done. Like if you were to acknowledge how crappy things can really get under your care, you couldn't live with yourself - you couldn't be happy at the end of they day. So you try to suppress it. I am sure management goes home and just throws up their hands and says "it's beyond me, I can't do it" and then even simple changes seem to hard to implement. And then you and I come along and we have had terrible experiences - and yet in our own lives - can any of us say we've taken full accountability for our own sin problem. So we leave a review and it feels cathartic, and we imagine our enemy is the person who by their apathy allowed the bad experience to occur. Then in our own lives we're distracted and then feel like we can't manage up the efforts to make the changes we know in our hearts we probably should. For example maybe we wouldn't be in such poor mental health if we lived more in accord with our own Christian morals, in a real way, if "we" managed it - and who of us can do that perfectly, but if we made more of an attempt - maybe we wouldn't need all of these antidepressents. It would be easier if we were encouraging each other, if things were broken down in to smaller, more "handlable" steps. After the way we treat animals in the world, and manage our own limited lives, I guess none of us can be too outraged when we have crappy things happen to us (hey I'm in the same boat!) Really, I do think we need to pray for ourselves and for them. Because I really don't see how any change is going to happen, shame or not, unless Jesus supernaturally empowers it. McLeod is just one in-your-face example of it that is an easy target because they are big, and when they fail, the failure is right up there for everyone to see. And am I saying it's OK to just fail and not try? No. But maybe leaving these 1 star reviews is not helping. Maybe they're already down, already tired, and maybe the best thing we can do in this crappy situation is be like..."let's start small"? Let's pray about it and not make it black and white, you're going to change overnight, but a small series of daily improvements that seem imperceptible but add up to something? I don't know, I could be off on that. I think a small improvement to the mental health ward would be to acknowledge the suffering in there, allow visitors, and allow people to bring reasonable gifts. These are pretty small changes - it's not like it's going to miraculously heal the nation's mental health issues. Maybe to acknowledge "I really need help and really want to improve, and I have no idea how to do it, and I can't stand the way things are going anymore." Or, "I know how to do it and I just have no one to help me actually change my hospital/business/life in meaningful, small ways." I have to go, but, I guess I will give them 3 stars.

ER has a very long wait regardless of who is waiting. usually a bs diagnosis. they also grossly under pay all their employees. i never go to this "hospital", i always go to Carolinas hospital on Pamplico hwy.

Frederick Checke

An exercise in futility. Wife admitted from another hospital and can't be found by any staff members. Combined with a phone switchboard runaround and a IDGAF attitude is beyond substandard. This review in no way is to reflect upon the Doctors or medical staff at all. The poor admin alone.

When I went to McLeod Gastro, I was amazed that an office could be run so poorly. My appointment time was for 10:30, and I wasn’t called to the second waiting room until after 11:30. I didn’t see a doctor until 12:50! I think they forgot about me and two other patients. Or else they just don’t care. Which is probably the case. So I finally got back to see Wolford. At least I assume it was Dr Wolford. He didn’t introduce himself. He didn’t read a single previous test result I brought with me. He didn’t ask me about diet or how I feel. He was very robotic and detached. He spent less than 5 minutes in the room with me. He told me to sit tight and that he would be right back. About 10 minutes later, a nurse came for me and said he ordered a HIDA scan, which my primary physician ordered for me two months prior! If he had taken a minute to glance at my tests, he would’ve seen that I recently had a HIDA scan!. I asked her why he didn’t order a colonoscopy and endoscopy?!? I’m over 40, a tobacco user, family history of colorectal cancer, and have never had a colonoscopy or endoscopy!!! Why didn’t he order them?!? So about that time I realized that something is very off with Dr Wolford and McLeod Gastroenterology. Please, find another doctor! I did, and it probably saved my life! John Wolford is criminally incompetent!

Chris Cox

I have never written a review before while still in the process of receiving service. I arrived at the hospital today at 9:15am for my 9:30am appointment for a colonoscopy. It is now 12:35pm and i am still waiting for my procedure. I asked the staff for an estimate of how much longer I would wait and was told that they did not know. I used my extra time to write this review. Last year, I had a colonoscopy performed in Charleston, SC and was efficiently in and out in 2 hours verses 4-5 hours (I hope) at McCloud. UPDATE I was just notified that I will be waiting another 2-3 hours. Waiting 5-6 hours beyond my appointment time leaves me frustrated and I feel that my time is not valued or respected.
