Nurses and staff were wonderful! If you don't have insurance I'd suggest going to another hospital that will offer better assistance and financial help. Went in to the ER around noon on Saturday and at 830pm they told me they wanted to keep me overnight so they can do tests in the morning. I didn't get moved to my room until 530am Sunday morning. I hadn't eaten or drank anything while I was there all day Saturday. Sunday I was offered a liquid diet, I think there was some confusion about what tests were to be done. I was told no food or drinks after midnight Saturday. I asked the nurse and doctor if I would be able to leave but they said they didn't think so, they were waiting for the GI doctor to come. When I saw the GI doctor at 430pm Sunday, he was amazing! He discharged me because he knew I didn't have insurance, just like I told all the other nurses and doctor. He knew right away from looking at me that I could do all of this outpatient to save me money. If you ever have a GI upset I highly recommend Dr. Gilbreath!
So for the time I was in the hospital, my bills have accumulated to 23,125.56 but they discounted 6,937.67, so my final bill from the hospital is 16,187.89 with 2 other bills for emergency Dept visit of 1,239.00 and 792.00. I am a server that just lost my benefits after 10 years due to a slow season. I'm not trying to get away without paying anything. I've already paid 5,500 out of pocket. I wanted to get on a reasonable payment plan and some forgiveness on my bill to make it a little more manageable. The best they could offer is 444 a month for 36 months. To me that's not reasonable for my situation. I feel like I'm getting double charged and when I call to get help, no one seems to care. I'm just naive and I don't know anything about health care. Hopefully if you go to this hospital you have insurance and won't have to go through what I'm going through right now. It's awful and I wouldn't wish this on anyone.
