REVIEWS OF Hillcrest Memorial Hospital IN South Carolina

I had a wonderful experience at this hospital. 2 days ago, I had outpatient surgery (cyst removed and a tendon repaired on my foot). I was treated with kindness and consideration every step of the way. They made sure I was comfortable and calm before each step of the process. The nurses were all friendly and helpful, as were the doctors. I wouldn't hesitate for one second to receive care here again.

Jaymes Reed

They don't know the difference between a "skin abscess" & a Brown Recluse spider bite in the ER. Avoid this ER like the Black Death, if possible.

Er trip last night for my wife. Quick and professional. They made the right referral, and everyone was great.

Needs alot of improvement I understand its a teaching facility, but when it is needed I do believe a certified Physician to take over situations that require serious medical knowledge and assistance. It just seems this hospital has always been extremely slow paced even in times of EMERGENCY NEEDS.I have come to realize im more capable of taking care of my self medically than request medical help from Hillcrest ER.

The experience we have had from Hillcrest family practice to the hospital has been a nightmare. If someone told me a group of healthcare providers could be so incompetent I would not have believed it.

Andrea Curtis

Only 3 people in the waiting room and I still waited over an hour in excruciating pain. Then being seen by a very young, inexperienced trainee who was far too rough. The room is dirty and cold...I wish I would have gone elsewhere.

My husband was transferred here Tuesday from another hospital. As of now I have zero complaints about this hospital or the staff. He had surgery last night and is resting comfortably in ICU today. The staff and doctors have been very polite and have shown much concern for him and his care.

Joe Bob

I was in Hillcrest yesterday in the GI area for a test and I would say the staff was outstanding. Very friendly, did all they could to make you comfortable, and added a little humor to ease the tensions of being there. Outstanding job!

I have been here several times and have always been treated good, waiting time seems to take forever after you get put in a room, other then that it's a nice place with nice people.

Best experience ever! I let a simple bladder infection go for four weeks, yes (dumb move on my part) I was in some pain but it was tolerable at the time, but finally it was too much for me. Well like some of you I don't have insurance, my company doesn't provide it and it can be extremely expensive by yourself. With not having insurance on my mind my worst fear would be my treatment at any medical facility knowing I have no funds to cover treatment at that time. But the pain was so terrible I broke down and went to the emergency room at Hillcrest. They were super nice to me!! They got me in quickly, now keep in mind there wasn't a lot of people in there so...EVERYONE was super nice!! I can't express this enough. Thank you so much to the wonderful staff that night who took such great care of me AND lesson learned, don't let a bladder infection go :/ Not fun! ;p

Not a good experience. Came home yesterday after a five day stay. The ER doctor was rude and had a problem with my medication list. He just could not get it right. Finally I told him all my info is in the Greenville system but that didn't help either. I ended up getting a double dose of blood pressure meds twice a day.It was caught on the third day by a nurse who questioned me on such a high dose. They never got my meds right the entire time I was there. After this happened I would receive the correct dose once a day but never received the second dose. There was so much confusion I didn't care If I got them or not. I was almost afraid to. My bedding and jonnie was never changed the five days and nights I was there. Even though It was messy from leakage from the abdominal surgery. What bothered me the most was the system they used for care. I would see them twice during a 12 hour shift. They would start at one end of the hall and continue on. The problem was if you needed something in between visits you would have to wait a very long time. In my case it was pain medication I couldn't get when I was suppose to or needed it. A call down to the nurses station would get you some an hour or so latter. They would absolutely not tend to your needs on a as needed basis. The system was more important. My IV line pump once alarmed for over an hour. They had an hourly round list on the door to the room to record there visits. Shifts are 7am to 7 pm. At 6 pm you could see the chart list it's typical 2 visits. Sometime between 6:30 and 7:00 I would see about 8 to 10 hourly visits added to the chart that never happened. This bothered me the entire time there. I wish I had never noticed. It didn't make me feel good about the people taking care of me to falsify information like that. I was not well cared for. The nurses seemed to work without management on a do as they please basis. The one time I did complain I was asked If I wanted to speak with the nursing manager but knew that was going to be a waste of time. Because this was not about a single incident or two. This was about a system clearly not designed for the patience benefit. Lastly I would like to add that I have no doubt I was being double charged for some items and services. They used a scanner anytime you received something and on more than a few occasions the items we're scanned twice.Something I will look into when the time comes.

Thank you Nurse Alli & Nina from 2nd floor. The world needs more beautiful people inside and out, like you guys! You made a bad situation easier for the whole family. Everyone has been so good but you 2 went above and beyond to make us comfortable! You guys are angels. Thank you sincerely, from the Nottingham family.

John Blessing

The ER team has done an excellent job in providing care for industrial health related problems, both in the day and middle of the night. I was very happy with our experiences and the care my employees received. The front desk/triage area seemed to lend itself to openly discussing private medical issues in a non-private space, which seems like an area to improve in the future.

I had surgery here last Friday and it was an amazing experience. Pre OP nurses were fantastic!!!

DONNA HUMPHRIES

The GI Surgery waiting room had The Food Network on the TV which had "do not turn channel" i find this cruel punishment for starving patients waiting for surgery. Blood splatter on the ceiling. I'm not impressed

Roberta Knapp

I had a negative experience at this hospital. My sheets were not changed for two days while I was recovering from a total knee replacement. I had to request for them to be changed. Dirty linens piled up in the corner of the room because the linen holder was full. Waste baskets overflowed in my room and were not emptied for days even though it was brought to the attention of housekeeping repeatedly. The floor in my room was only washed once during a four day stay. Worst of all - we saw a cockroach in the hallway outside my room. The staff had difficulty keeping track of my medications and would ask me when I last had a med or if I had been given certain meds that day. I will never go back to this hospital.

Casey Kennedy

Had the best experience! My husband and me went after we was involved in a car wreck today and they safe was excellent. We seen Andrews and our nurse was Julie and we couldn’t of been in better care. They ran test and was fast they even came in to keep us undated when waiting on results. Even the lady who checked us in was very friendly!

Nae Lopez

You spend 4 hours waiting in the er room listening to them discuss their nails and hair. People would get out faster if they got off their ass and done their job. Its called an emergency for a reason.

LeeAnn Mumaw

Went in 4 severe abdominal pain with bleeding and they made me wait and then tried to give me ibuprofen and I told them no bc I had already tried it. So they tried to play me like I was stupid and came in with an IM injection 4 pain, so I looked it up. The med was the same as tylenol and ibuprofen. How scary is that, that they will do that to patients. Once that didn't work they sent me home because by blood tests were fine. Even though I was in there a week before for the same thing and had an inflamed pelvis. Thank you Dr. Silvia. NOT. TERRIBLE DOCTOR. Then he told me to go home and take Tylenol for pain. Anybody who has endometriosis knows how painful it is. This is not 1st bad visit. These people are idiots. This is one of the worst hospitals I have ever been to. And don't bother calling patient relations or the director bc they don't give a crap about your situation, they will act like it, but they never do anything about the situation.

Charline Munro

While waiting for hours, for my daughter to be seen by a physician. The staff decussed other patients, in detail in the waiting room / lobby. Patients that came in after my daughter, went Into a room before her. And yes, I know they take Severity, but a cut is not that bad! Most the staff were very rude as they always are. You are made to feel like you are not important and your pain is of no concern. So why even ask what is your pain level if you don't care and nothing will be done about it!? I voiced my concerns to the charge nurse, who said she would be back to let me know what was going on, she never came back. I just cant see myself ever coming here to this ER/hospital for any reason again. It is by far the worst hospital I have ever had to visit for any reason. I'm ashamed to say I actually worked here once.

John Warren

I had outpatient surgery on my foot today with Dr. Weatherby of Steadman Hawkins. The surgery went great, but my post op recovery room experience was outstanding. Brooke A. was my recovery nurse, and was truly the best and most compassionate medical provider I’ve ever had take care of me. I just can’t say enough good things about her. I hope I’m lucky enough to have medical care in the future by people as great as she was. The care I received at Hillcrest was just fantastic all around, including the anesthesiologist, pre op nurses, etc...

Sandy Saye

Unless you have no where else to go, I'd choose any other hospital other than Hillcrest Memorial. Except for their excellent nurses and maybe 1 or 2 doctors, they could care less about the patient and their needs. Further, the Social Service department at either Memorial or Hillcrest, but specifically Hillcrest, is only interested in 1 thing and that is to get you discharged as fast as they can. They have no interest in the patient's needs or well being. I remember a time when Social Services was on the patient's side looking after their well being.

MistyMaisy

Every single employee I interacted with on 8/4 night shift were amazing. So nice and caring. I wish I knew their names so they could get better recognition! I wish people would keep in mind... they work 12 hour shifts with grumpy sick people. Be nice and respectful and I'm sure itll be appreciated.

Krista Gregory

This has got to be the BIGGEST JOKE of a hospital I have ever been to. Anyone that lives in Rock Hill and thinks Piedmont is bad?! No!!! Hillcrest is the worst!!! And “Doctor” Perkins??? He is not only RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL, and CONDESCENDING, but he is also a complete IDIOT!! I went into the hospital unable to see, speak, hear, or walk. My blood pressure was so low they could not calculate it. My heart rate was through the roof. But Dr. Perkins had the nerve to say he “didn’t see anything concerning” I have NO previous medical diagnosis and was sitting at the time of my black out. But nothing was concerning to him?! He better hope nothing serious happens to me. WORST HOSPITAL EVER!!! If I could give it zero stars, I would.

Betty Jo Harbin

Its a whole lot better than the main campus. My roommate is up at the big hospital. And those nurses were very rude to mother. The food is better at Hillcrest thanGHS

Shannon Myers

Worst hospital in the world

Holly Diana

My bf brought to this Er after I had been bleeding enormous amounts of blood from my personal areas and dropping blood clots the size of golf balls and they did nothing for me after sitting for hours without even seeing so much as a nurse. Well they pissed off the wrong guy because he will do anything in his power to make sure people know the kind of care that they will get at this hospital

Sandi Nahmias

Thank you to all the wonderful, kind, doctors, physicians assistants, x-ray techs, nurses and staff for such wonderful treatment. (Kathy, Jason, Christine/a, and all the others whose names escape me. My daughter came in for a broken arm tonight and you took care of her right away. Thank you for helping her, and for making her feel better. I really appreciate it. God bless!

Sammi Garcia

This has got to be the worst hospital ever. When my IV was done my boyfriend went and told my nurse and she kept me waiting so she could talk in the hall with the other nurses. The doctor did not tell me of the treatment that they were going to be giving me. After about 20 minutes of waiting for the nurse to come in and remove my IV I got up because my IV started to get blood in it ( yes I know it is normal) But that night shift nurse and doctor had no idea that my IV was not done. So not only did my previous nurse not come and take it out she did not let the next nurse know. Very unprofessional and I will take the trip to Greenville Memorial if my children or myself need to be seen at a hospital.

I went in this morning at 1:00am I have messed my knee up and can't walk at all on it. And they told me nothing was broke follow up with a orthopaedic 81st and would not give me a work more so I have to wait till Tuesday be for I can find out what's wrong with my leg. They duck

Wow it really made me re think moving down south. I went to the ER while on vacation to this hospital, because it was closest to the hotel. I was having cramping and light bleed while pregnant and wanted them to see if baby was okay. After 2 hours of waiting I began to have a miscarriage in the ER and bleeding all over, I told them and they brought me out pads, then I had to sit another 2 hours. So I waited 4 hours and lost my baby while waiting, no offense to flu patients, I know it's going around. Horrible and dirty.

Tetyana

The worse service ever! I'm waiting at ER for almost 3 hours with my little kids. When we came, no patients were here, so we expected to be called soon. Now, the ER is full of patients, none of which is visibly sick or injured, however, they're called one after another, but we're not. I asked the receptionist why we're still waiting, if my son was first in line (he is in pain), I told her that my kids are hungry already and their vending machine doesn't work properly (doesn't accept credit cards), but received no rational answer.

Sean Nottingham

They provided me the most compassionate care I've ever had in a hospital. They admitted me and were nice to me about something that that horrible Spartanburg Memorial Hospital. That place is horroble.

Overly Blessed

Had the absolute BEST experience, ever, tonight (2-4-18) at the Emergency Room at Hillcrest. My 8 year old son went in with 103 degree fever, heart racing, shaking and labored breathing.. My son is special needs and very difficult to communicate with, especially in the setting and circumstances that he was in. Every single person, from the front counter, to the doctor on call, to the lady collecting insurance, were all wonderful with my son and I. Every single person on duty treated my son with genuine compassion and prompt, immediate care (even with the ever growing cases of flu going around. However, one person stuck out like a shining star. The nurse that dealt with my son, was the most compassionate, patient, child-friendly person that I've ever encountered! This lady (I wish I remembered her name, but it is my new goal to find out, and call in to report to someone above her, on my experience) treated my son as if he was her #1 priority, without taking neglecting anyone else's needs at all. This lady sat with my son, explained things to him on his level and took an extra special focus to his needs and disability and single handedly was making my child smile and giggle, and feel proud of himself, and able to get him to explain what was going on with him.. She did this out of genuine good heartedness, and restored my faith in society.. This lady wanted to work with special needs children, but loved helping everyone as a nurse. My son came home telling his brothers that the hospital isn't scary and they're really nice.. I wish everyone that my son encountered, for the rest of his lice, was just like his nurse tonight. This, by the way, is not my first trip to this ER. My other son had stitches there before. This ER has always been fantastic! Tonight's experience though, will never be forgotten by myself, or my son!

I am pregnant came in with pain and bleeding, I've been sitting in a room for 4 hours and only seen 1 nurse for a urine sample! TERRIBLE!

This is an outstanding hospital. I had very good times here and the nurses and staff are absolutely amazing!

I CALLED TO CHECK ON MY DAUGHTER, SHE WENT IN ER WITH CHEST PAIN, NUMBNESS ON ONE SIDE OF HER BODY. SHE IS A DIABETIC, HIGN BLOOD PRESSURE. THE PERSON I SPOKE WITH SAID SHE IS WAITING IN LOBBY. REALLY !! SO I AM THINKING , IF SHE HAS A STROKE OR EVEN WORSE , SHE CAN DO IT IN THE LOBBY WAITING AREA.. THIS IS ONE HOSPITAL I WILL NEVER SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION AT.

Elizabeth Dosher

Great care from great staff. Love the smaller facility .Don't feel lost .

Antonio Enterprises

This place is horrible, it takes over 3 hours to be seen, I was in extreme pain having scale 10, issue, that my body was sweating from the pain. They took their time I saw staff sitting on cellphones, eating, and then they tell you, oh we only have one doctor but they are coming. Even though you just sat there for 3 hours, and a doctor still hasn't seen you. DO NOT COME HERE DO NOT COME HERE IT'S HORRIBLE! Even as I am writing this review I still haven't been seen and it's going into the 4th hour....if you need immediate attention this not the place to come

Roy Johnson

Never experienced caring like this at a hospital before. If I could of gave 20 stars for Michele Dupuris, her medical staff, student Dr Caitlin Hartwell and Social Worker Nathan I would have. I was not judged by my tattoos or my size. I received the best medical care EVER!!! I can honestly say this is the only medical staff that has brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for the GREAT care guys. Sincerely Roy and Heather Johnson

Spent 6 hours here for an xray and cry scan because I was in a car accident. Doctor prescribed meds that I told him made me itchy. I was told to take benadryl to help. It didn't so now they want me to get reevaluated. That's racketeering at its finest, create a need and exploit it. Will drive 30 mins to Greenville memorial and risk bleeding out before I come back here!

Knowledgeable, professional and efficient - can't ask more of a solid first rate hospital.

Rachel Butler

Went to ER and not once was I examined. Just a glanced from afar. She stated I had bed bugs(REALLY). A week later I've been diagnosed with a severe reaction from posion oak. Killchrest will not get another penny from me.

Was pretty good.. but would not want to go there for severe emergency....nurse I had , did not seem very interested in doing her job.. when I went to emergency room.. but going there for scans, ultrasounds etc.. was a positive experience. Would like to say the ER Dr. Was awesome

I almost did not go to this ER due to the poor reviews. As a matter of fact I went to another ER first. The service at that hospital was deplorable! This caused me to give Hillcrest a chance. I LOVE THIS ER! Initially my daughters and I were offended at the cold treatment upon arrival. However, the security officers and the other nurses completely and wonderfully made up for the initial cold treatment! Dr. Ray is amazing and has a beautiful bedside manner. He dealt with me with the upmost respect and seemed to genuinely care about my well-being! The nurses seamlessly complimented his professionalism. I recommend this ER to everyone! Clean, professional, and caring! Hillcrest is a wonderful breathe of fresh air from the previous ER I visited. Being new to the area, this was a much needed resolution! 5 stars for sure!

Latoya Simpson

My experience here has been more than great my waiting period wasn't long and all the staff members was concern and caring very supporting they took good care of my son and I thank you Doc Roumsey tech Jason in nurse Tammy we need more staff like y'all thank y'all so much for your dedication and for greeting us with a smile keep up the good work thank y'all

Anna Campbell

WORST HOSPITAL EVER!!!! Everyone in the ER was very rude. DO NOT EVEN BOTHER WITH THIS CRAPPY PLACE!!!

Princess Piper

I wish I could give no stars here. I went to this hospital last night with an elevated heart rate, skipping heartbeats, and having a severe attack of fibromyalgia. The nurse practitioners assistant tried to pump me full of ibuprofen after I'd told her I'd had enough for the day. Then she tried to push IV fluids, and I was not dehydrated. After laying there listening to my EKG beep every couple of minutes to warn me I'd skipped a beat for 2 hours, this woman then accused me of just wanting opioids... I'm a drug counselor. This is the second time this hospital has treated me like this. DO NOT SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION HERE!!!! As a CNA 2, knowing what I know, if I'd taken that horrible woman's advice I could be dead right now. #KillcrestHospital

Friendly staff. Good service and clean environment.

This hospital does not honor any kind of privacy policy or the HIPAA Act. They share your personal information with practically everyone, including marketers. I hate their annoying automated calls and cannot seem to have my personal phone number removed. Teaching hospital or not, I don't want trainees to treat me.

My wife came to Hillcrest Hospital yesterday evening. The ER doctor was rude, condescending, and inappropriate to her. He did not look at her chart and refused to accept that she has gastroparesis. He assumed that she was looking for pain medication. After two hours of doing absolutely NOTHING, we left and went to Village Medical Center on 14. We will think twice about going to Hillcrest Hospital for medical care in the future.

D Burns

Typically I get good care here even though they are slow. I am giving them one star due to a elderly man that they pushed into the waiting room in a wheel chair who after about an hour, fell out of the wheelchair into the floor. He was confused and we yelled for someone to come help. The security guard and triage nurse got up and went in the back. After a few minutes two nurses came out to help the man. Being that he fell in the floor, you would think they would evaluate him to see if he hurt anything but instead they grab him by the arms and keep telling him, "you have got to get up". They never ask if he was hurting, never checked him out! They finally got him up by pulling him by his arms and put him back in the wheelchair and left him there to finish with his wait. I reported this to the hospital but never heard anything back to even know the outcome. Horrible way to treat someone especially an elder man who was by himself.

Susie Heyd

The service here sucks. I bet you this I wouldn't bring my dead dog here that's how bad the service is an the people are so rude ( the workers).

JAMES A MARSH.

Hillcrest hospital is the slowest hospital that there is that's y we will be going to Lauren's hospital from here on out cause they r faster and alot nicer people work there and they check on u to see how u r doing all the time no matter how packed they r we will never come back to hillcrest hospital any more at all no matter what it will be Lauren's hospital from now on.

Wynde Wagner

Out of all of the GHS hospitals Hillcrest has been amazing! They listen! They are all here to help get you through some really tough times in your life. Everyone here is so kind, generous, and helpful. This is hands down my go to hospital from now on!

Every one i met was so nice! They were super helpful. Jen (RN) and heather (NST) were both light hearted and funny. Made me feel comfortable! Emily (RN) was super nice and helpful all the way through. A great bunch of people :)

Inexperienced staff body. Lack of patient bedside manner. Mixed bag of good and poor nurses and technical staff. I was happy to get out of this place after being hospitalized.

Darcey Keener

Please go elsewhere. No only is the stuff rude and slow but clearly fraudulent. I had to go to the ER due to a hear arethmia....this can be extremely dangerous if not treated. This lady behind the counter wouldn't have even cared if my leg off. Anywho, not my 1st rodeo at the ER, had my ID and insurance card out and was told, they would take it later. Waiting 90 minutes to get called back, empty waiting room. Get called back, the nurse hooks me with a stickies for the EKG and after another 90 minutes went by so I walked out (staff saw me walk out and said nothing) and went to a different hospital. Rewind to last week...they sent my account in collections for over $1000!!!! FOR WHAT???? I'm sorry you didn't take my info before any work was done that I clearly offered you when I arrived. I have so much respect for nurses and doctors but when I'm being charged for services that never happened....unaaceptable.

Jessica Bulmer

I had outpatient hip labral repair surgery today with Dr. folk. Those employees worked as a team and were very educated! They were quick and efficient! Very kind nurses and anesthesiologist! Did everything they could to ease my nervousness, and crack some jokes!

Steven Boettcher

We received excellent care during a loved one's bariatric surgery. Holly, Josh, Mary, and Ela were awesome and made sure everything was taken care of. I would absolutely recommend this facility and Prisma Health.

Edwin Davish

I wish I could give less than one star. Came in with my 1yr old. High fever, diarrhea, short of breath. Was told they brought people back by severity NOT time of arrival. Literally watched people go back in the order they came in. They all did not nor could not have been worse. 3+ hours later we finally get back and wait 20 minutes the nurse comes. Does very basic checks. Then 10 minutes after, an X-ray tech randomly shows up without their being any further evaluation of our child or us being informed what was going on. Cue 30 minutes later. Dr finally shows up.

J Blake

Worst experience ever. The nurses were terrible and acted like we were in the way. When we got ready to leave they insisted my son didn't need a wheelchair, even though they had just diagnosed him with severe vertigo. I will never go there again!!!

Kitaa Todd

I came in at 4 didn’t get seen until 7:30

Christopher Fazio

Was not very busy when we got there. We were taken right back to a room. Jill B. at the front desk was extremely rude and condescending. She needs to take additional training to fix her attitude problem

My mom was having sharp pains in her abdomen. She rated her pain a 9 when we got there and was in so much pain she could not stop moving or crying. However, we waited 2 hours until we finally got sick of it and left. We went to MD360 where she PASSED OUT after before being seen from being in pain for so long. If you have an emergency, PLEASE DON'T COME HERE.
