Worst customer service my father arrived at 7:00pm and still hasn’t been seen. And it’s already midnight and up to date they still don’t help him .He was currently and very bad pain poor customer service . If you want to live don’t go here.

Everyone at Oconee Hospital was nice except for this one ER doctor Dr Duncan! His attitude is unprofessional at best. Does not have compassion at all!

Kristin Morgan

Very nice hospital. My Grandmother had to come stay here awhile and the nurses and doctors took such good care of her and really seemed to care. Also things seem very clean. There are nice waiting areas and very nice places to eat, including a Starbucks and a Chick-fil-A.

During my pregnancy my OB gave me two options to deliver at and Greenville Memorial was one of them. I really appreciate it the cleanliness, professionalism and they was able to answer any questions I had. I had a C-section a week ago today and it was performed by Dr.Schultz. Even though he was running behind schedule the staff made us feel comfortable and reassure us everything will be fine. It was a great experience.

The very best place to go in Upstate S.C. for medical care. Their doctors are the best of the best in my opinion. The nurses & technicians are extremely knowledgeable also. I would not consider using anything but the Greenville Hospital System for anything serious.

My son has been in here since the 26th of December. It's not been a good experience . Just like last time he was here, after about a week he ended up in ICU. His kidneys failed, that's why we came. The nurses are good. Tech's too. But Dr.s don't seem to have any cohesion. It's like the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. I just called up there to see if my son was in dialysis because I couldn't reach him and Connie on the 3rd floor nurse's station acted like it wasn't her job to tell me. I set up the password, which she didn't ask me for, she simply grunted and sighed, said, "Yes he's in dialysis and hung up!!" People who don't like their job should get out!! He's already been in ICU!! No empathy from her. Housekeeping sucks too. Dirty linens in his room, full for days. He has a pressure sore and was on a broken special bed for over 24 hours! Sunken air mattress. Excuse was; it's Sunday. Next time he needs medical attention we are going to try a different hospital. Sure do miss Shriners!!

Excellent experience with surgery and overnight stay

I have delivered twice here and the first experience was great. The second experience we were antagonized by social services and their unnecessary hand outs on child abuse. There is no need to ruin a special moment between a mother and her child within the couple of hours she has delivered- - ridiculous. However all my nurses were exceptional and treated me outstanding. All my questions were answered. My father was air lifted here after a bad accident and all the staff assisting him was exceptional. During such a scary and life threating time, I had people rushing to me every moment they could to give me and update and let me see my father. Thank you.

Horrible! Unkind, disorganized, unprofessional, unsafe! The WORST experience I have ever had at a medical facility! Do not go here if you value your safety or.your health.

My grandma had to get surgery almost a month ago. The staff was friendly and checked up on my grandma to make sure she had everything she needed. My grandma said overall there is not 1 bad thing she can say about it.

Wonderful nurses! Sweet people from every area. Family member was in ICU for over a week & they were very sweet to them & our family the whole time, & all hours! The cafeteria food wasn't the best & had no certified Gluten-free food (major allergies, not a fad-diet)... But personel are wonderful!

Awesome Doctors and Nurses and Hospital Staff, from the ER to the CCU, to the Floor. Every time any Hospital Staff leave the room, they always...ask if there is anything else they can do for the patient!

Hazel in the billing department is the rudest person I have ever dealt with at this hospital system. She needs customer service training or a job where she doesn't deal with people

This hospital used to be the best. Not anymore. Since September 2015 my mom has been in and out of the hospital and several it was their fault. I took my mom to hillcrest because she was taking antibiotic for uti and it was not helping. She got to where she couldn't walk. Hillcrest had to transport her to greenville. They give her antibiotics thru iv. They do a cat scan and said she had something wrong with her back. The doctor comes rushing in to take her to emergency surgery and mom didn't want back surgery. But he was going on vacation and he said he wanted to do it before he left. Mom said no. Well next morning he comes back and says oh because she had heart problems her heart is not strong enough for surgery. So another time I take mom with chest pains. They do xray and says she not having a heart attack and sends us home. Three hours later back up there she's having a heart attack in the hall. Now I took mom because she fell and they xray her and done cat scan and said nothing is broken and gave her pain medicine and sent her home. Four days later she's not getting any better I take her back up there and she has at least 4 broke ribs and has to be put in icu because she setting up pneumonia. She was tested for uti but the nurse said test come back clear. I told her but her urine is dark and the nurse said you need to drink water not soda. So now mom is in rehab she can't walk and she just stares t you when you ask her something like she don't even know you talking to her. I don't know what is going on.

Recently had to visit the ER (severe migraine that had been daily for 2 months). Waited 8hrs before being moved to an ER room. Apparently they put the reason we were there was headache because several others with lesser issues that arrived after us were seen first. We tried to explain that it wasn't just a headache. Apparently the triage nurses didn't care. Saw one older lady with severe abdominal pain they made wait 5hrs. One gentleman had been there 5hrs before us and got an ER room only just before we did. The reason we were given for the delay was that they were waiting for rooms to be cleaned. When we finally went back, there were many (about 10) rooms ready for patients and the ER waiting room was close to full. Most of those we saw in the waiting room during our 8hrs had no visible signs of distress. But the the empty rooms would have been enough to take care of those that were visibly in need. One gentleman that came in had just had a transplant and he finally just left. The triage nurses on the next shift were even worse. Attitudes and basically not caring. The nurse that was supposed to monitor open rooms and get the next person back just walked away from the desk and was talking about non-hospital related things with another nurse. The doctor was good although we basically left with no answers. We had hoped there would be an admittance to the hospital so that tests could be ran more expeditiously than going to doctor after doctor over weeks. But, they wouldn't admit. Overall this experience with the GHS ER was a total nightmare! If you have an emergency I would seriously consider calling your personal doctor to see if they would have you directly admitted. I guess the thing that made the wait worse was the fact we were told nothing. No estimated timeframe so that we could try to get comfortable. Also, the poor patients that were in wheelchairs and basically incapacitated were just ignored because they didn't/couldn't answer when their number was called. The nurses made no effort to walk around to those patients to see if they were the number that was called.

The woman working in the pharmacy should not be working there... At all!!!! We asked where should we throw away our insulin needles that were in a sealed coffee can. The woman said "throw it in the garbage". Obviously we were confused because anybody can get to them including animals. She said "not if there in a dumpster"... News flash people go dumpster diving and animals can get to it especially if the lid falls off. I don't understand the level of stupidity and how disposing of insulin needles by throwing them in the garbage is ok. I don't care how secure that coffee lid is, it is still dangerous.

Spent the night in the Epilepsy center for an overnight study. Everything was great except for a nurse Named Tony C. He came in and was rude and wrapped my head up again which wasn't necessary. Not only was he rude to me he was also rude to my mother.... maybe a different hospital will be used next time.

Worst hospital ever I went there today with my baby he is really sick and I got there around 1 and all they did was check his temperature give him Tylenol..then the nurse said the doctor is coming in a minute... it was 2:40 nd I never saw the doctor so I decided to go to other hospital and at 2:55 they call me asking me were I was like really people my son is sick im not going to wait tht long and in greer memorial hospital they took them 1 hour and 10 mins to check him and to tell me what he has...

I want to say that my review has done a 360 last week I put one star because some of the staff scared me how inattentive they were and on their phones but there's one nurse named Peter that is turned it all around. Peter is absolutely wonderful he is positive he's in the ICU second level and he is an amazing nurse! More people like him should go into the business because he brings such a positive outlook on such a scary situation for family members of loved ones that are in the hospital...THANK YOU PETER FOR TAKING SUCH GREAT CARE OF MY MOM

Emily Carman

Donna, the nurse on trauma/ICU on the 4th floor was EXCEPTIONAL! She took such great care of my grandmother and was super attentive and informative with everything she did. She epitomizes the true definition of a healthcare professional. She is awesome.

I have had to go to Greenville Memorial multiple times this year and the nurses doctors and even the staff checking you in in the emergency room have been very polite to me. Every time I have been the doctor has not only knowledge but a great bedside manner so I can say all of my experience is so far have been great.

I have been here 4 and a half hours and counting for a ct scan. One that was ordered elsewhere meaning no triage first. I can't believe it. The whole time just sitting in the waiting room. I have never experienced this before and I am glad that I don't live here so I don't have to deal with this again. For those that don't know any better, this is unacceptable. Go elsewhere if you can.

My husband was hospitalized in this Hospital for 3 weeks. When he was in CCU, most staff was attentive to care for my husband. Except, his last day in CCU was terrible. The nurse had no idea where my husband was, for few hours. Someone pick up my husband for dialysis NOT even his schedule that day! When they move my husband to ICU Unit, the first week was ok! When they move him again to another side of ICU, that's when I begin to see the staff has a poor service. The room was dirty. My husband had catch a pneumonia infection. Although, my husband was able to use the bathroom by himself but he can't get up without a nurse assistant. He had to wait whoever is available. I can understand the Hospital don't want to be responsible if a patient fall on the bed. At least, the staff should observe the patient if he/she can go alone without calling anybody! Having a pneumonia infection, patient should be able to get up all the time to take care the fumes in the lung! The staff has very poor communications. The day before I took my husband home, the staff agreed that my husband can go home the next day. Upon my arrival in the Hospital to pick up my husband, I ask the nurse what time can he go home that day? The nurse have no idea about my husband's discharge. I ask her where is the physician on duty that day, her responds was somewhere. When I approach here this was around 12:00 p.m. What she did was to put an oxygen to my husband. I ask my husband if he can breath without it, and he seems perfectly fine. By 1:30 I approach the Nurse to turn off the oxygen from my husband because I need to monitor him for an hour before I take him home and she did follow my instruction. By 2:00 p.m, I ask her again I need to speak to a physician if my husband can go home that day. The doctor doesn't really want my husband to come home that day, I don't really know what her reason was! She finally agree I will take him home that day. That was Saturday afternoon, I ask the doctor if she can have my husband's medications ready for me to pick up at the Pharmacy near of where we live. Her responds was, some medications has to be a hard copy to take it to the Pharmacy. She gave me hard copies for all the medications to pick up at the Pharmacy. Since it took them 5 hours to discharge my husband, the Pharmacy downstairs closed at 4:00 p.m, and all the Pharmacies closed at 6:00 p.m on the weekend. My husband indeed up no medications to take until the next day because we left the Hospital at 7:30 p.m. The staff extremely have poor service and I've never seen like this in my life. I can understand this Hospital is under staff, but it seems like they do not care if the patient has no medications to take?

Wait times are excruciating. As with every other hospital in the area, this one is horrible. They will leave paitents in the waiting room crying in pain for hours and force you to wait upwards of 6 hours to be seen for simple problems. Would not recommend this hospital to anyone even my worst enemy. Unfortunately for all of us in the upstate area this hospital is the less of the evils around.. avoid going here unless you're about to die. If you're incapacitated and you wake up here.. good luck..

Craig Ellenburg

Emergency room is very bad... way under staffed... patants should never be laying in beds in the hall ways.. my mother has been here 6 hours and just got labs taken...... greenville hospital gets a 2 for being so damn bad... its a good place to die.......

David Ortega

Expect to wait very long hours. Staff are very nice and explain the process well.

I was taken to Greenville Memorial after having a bad biking accident and ended up with a broken clavicle. The EMTs were great getting me there and the nursing staff was helpful. However the attending physician, Dr. Manuel Depina, was not. He did not have a good bedside manner and both my mother-in-law and myself found him very unhelpful. He came in after seeing the x-rays and started examining the wrong shoulder. He then referred me to a small ortho clinic and said to call them Monday morning to get an appointment for Wednesday or Friday. He told me he put a note on the referral that I should be seen on Wednesday. When I called the clinic they gave me an appointment for a week and a half from the day of the accident and said the referral said 1-2 weeks. He also kept changing what he was saying and just rambled instead of presenting understandable advice. I'm overall dissatisfied and frustrated with the whole experience. Next time I have the option I will NOT be going to Greenville Memorial and will definitely not be seen by Dr. Depina.

Heaven forbid you walk in with infections everywhere on your body and didn't sleep the night before. Your drowsiness is directly related to "withdrawing" apparently per Brittany the receptionist. I was drilled by her about it pretty relentlessly. After my 6 hour wait and questioning where I was on the list, apparently life or death doesn't concern someone who maybe septic and or drowsy but instead you are magically at the bottom of the list classified as a withdrawal patient I'd imagine or so it seems. The fact that drowsiness was mentioned in the distance over and over along with military guy kind of clarifies my status. Pretty freaking ridiculous if you ask me. Way to treat your combat veterans greenville memorial and BRITTANY! unprofessional to say the least. I'd go anywhere else for my care. Honestly. Wouldn't recommend this place to a dying person.

I was charged double the amount on a payment plan. When I called customer service the first time I was told the money would be refunded within 5 business days. The money was never refunded, so I called to check and was informed they only refund money once a month and they had no clue when I would be refunded. Meanwhile I had an substantial amount of money deducted from my account without my permission. I had to finally make a complaint through the BBB. I was then informed that they don’t refund to cards, even though both customer service reps informed me that is how they refund. They said they refunded the money by check on Sept. 9, but it wasn’t mailed until Sept. 11, and I still haven’t received a refund check. Beware when agreeing to a payment plan, and whatever you do do not give this place your card information for a draft.

The care my son received was excellent, but their billing department is completely incompetent. My son was transferred here in an emergency situation I was assured by patient advocates etc that I wouldnt have anything to worry about and wouldnt be billed my son had out of state Medicaid. Now over a year later I'm receiving calls from collectors for a bill I've never even seen. They did submit to our insurance but werent accepting payment from them. Medicaid told me all the hospital has to do is resubmit the bill and accept the payment and it would be covered but the billing department refuses to resubmit the bill.

2nd Floor has been great to me! The 4th floor ICU staff was not good to me at all. Negative 5 stars for 4th floor. Positive 5 stars for 2nd floor!!

Michael Parker

Any institution of this size will have some bad employees. IRS, police departments, NSA, FBI, and GM all have their problems. GHS Memorial has saved my life several times and is the only choice I would give for emergency services. They have some of the best staff and equipment in the state and are always working to improve their patient services.

Raymond Stevinson

This place is HIGHLY INCOMPETENT!! Don't go here unless you want your love ones to perish. Anything beyond cuts and bruises, you need go somewhere else.

ICU waiting room staff very rude and unprofessional. Moved a chair for my wife, only 2 other people in waiting room. Her name was Deloris, we rude and hateful. My wife had swelling and no feeling in her leg and had it elevated to help. She storms over and says you can’t move furniture around. I tried to tell her why the chair was moved but she did not care and only said for me to move the furniture back. She has no feeling in her leg from bone marrow treatment. But yesterday it was OK to move chair and bring blankets. When you are already upset and worried about loved ones when a staff member acts this way it is uncalled. She did not even ask nicely just stormed over.

If your lifestyle is at all alternative do not come here they will assume you are drug seeking even if you are allergic to opiates. And refuse benzos. This review is about two different medical campuses, and they are both very very different: GHS Simpsonville: previously Hilcrest Medical Center The staff here are knowledgeable and easy to communicate with. My mother suffered liver failure/jaundice and I drove her here for treatment. The entire staff was helpful, caring, and observant. I did not even know what danger she was in until I brought her to the outpatient appointment desk. (We had previously made an appointment.) The nurse processing her intake paperwork was alert and concerned enough to test her eyes with a pen light, and sent us to ER. The surgeries she needed were performed quickly without incident. The paperwork I needed to sign was clearly explained to me, and any questions I had were answered with ease. The doctors kept me up-to-date with her condition and fully explained to me the concerns they had. The surgeon also personally spoke to me following her second surgery to make sure I understood (and could relate to her once she woke up) what had been done and why. I felt very confident in the staff at this hospital. Even the janitorial and snack-machine-stocking staff were kind to me! Now, that's service! GHS Greenville: aka Marshall Pickens and surrounding campus This hospital was very disappointing. After the caring doctors and nurses and other staff we found at a different hospital (GHS Hilcrest) I was extremely irritated. After a fourth (emergency) surgery to help restore liver function, my mother was not allowed a new set of sheets after diarrhea caused her to soil her original sheets during unconsciousness. Rather than lay in soiled sheets, she had to pull herself out of bed -- after four surgeries and still under the effects of anesthesia, which would make standing and walking unsafe for her -- in order to sit in the single chair provided for visitors. She asked, on two occasions, that her sheets be changed. I also asked - a third time. Her first request was politely ignored and nothing was done. When she requested a change of sheets a second time the nurse replied, "You'll only be here for a few more hours." Because EVERYONE wants to sit in feces for a few hours?!? Because I was the only next-of-kin currently in the country (my sisters were traveling together outside of the USA) I was left holding all the responsibilities. My (third) request was met with stony silence. Once the nurse replied she said, "We only allow each patient one set of sheets per day." SERIOUSLY? But back to my first impressions. Once I arrived at the hospital, the receptionist seemed disorganized, cold, and untrained. I wandered between nursing stations asking about my mother until I was finally pointed to the right room -- where I found her sitting in a chair because her sheets were soiled, she had not been fed, and no attendant nurses had even come to check on her for the past few hours. I wish I had gotten some name tags. If at all avoidable, do not go to this hospital. The staff are rude, poorly trained, and I dare say even cruel. I know my reviews of two locations of the "same" business seem dichotomous. I believe that GHS taking over regional hospitals has only lowered the standard of care. It has not improved the care patients receive; and GHS has certainly not made any effort to help the family members who are affected by the illness of a loved one. Be ware.

Cross Creek Internal Medicine Office - Dr Witt is out of the office on maternity leave and the doctor that's handling her patients is doing an excellent job helping her lose patients. He won't refill prescriptions that Dr Witt found necessary to issue. I requested the nurse to refer me to another doctor that would have the time to review all of my medical file and determine the best treatment for my problem. I was told I had to wait until Dr Witt return. Uh.... that defeats the purpose of me asking for a referral. Sorry Dr Witt!!! I hope you don't lose all your patients.

8 hour wait time. NEVER again will I visit this hospital. And I'm not paying the bill.

I went to the GHS main campus for trouble breathing & chest pains. The care was amazing. Very professional, no unnecessary tests or treatment. I was in and out in a little under an hour. But then I received a $1500 bill for my 50 minute visit. $400 for 2 x-rays, over $800 for the ER proper and over $300 for the ER doctor who I never saw, I was taken care of by a nurse practitioner. When I went to GHS to complain I was told that was the basic, bare minimum cost. I was offered a 20% discount if I paid the bill in full in 30 days but there was no other credits were available. While the level of care was excellent, it wasn't $1500 worth of excellent.

hi i'm mina and i have been going to this hospital for about 3 month never really had an issue until my most resent sickle cell pain crises and since i'm about 11 weeks pregnant any way long story short i wake up and they have this big huge camera on this pole i was unclothe and asleep i ask the nurse why they felt the need to put a camera in my room and they say its because they can so i reminded them that there breaking my civil right as a american citizen and that is was also against the law.I ask a women who sent the camera up if they just did this to just the African American patients with sickle cell at my surprise the women shake her head and yes wow and i have video of this.my hope is to be treated fair that its when your dying from an illness as i am all you want is to be treated like a human bean and happy as the end comes as i type this tears is falling down my face because you don't wanna be treated like mess as your dying i just want them to treat other critical patient better then they treated me this time:(

Rudest nurses and so called on call physicians Ever in the ER..... They try to run scams to get you out of there if you dont have insurance..... No compassion even for a 74 year old woman that just needs to get her life saving meds....

Great place for medical care, most staff are friendly. However the Drs do not work together very well, and will not help each other out which left me hanging in the wind after discharge for stroke therapy. My main Dr was on vacation and no one would review and sign therapy papers that were in place. The nurse was very sorry but also frustrated with the three Drs she asked. Also the Er did not process my check in so, I waited having a stroke for two hours, then My wife went and complained and they admitted they had lost me in the system.

This place is the worst hospital I have seen in my life. The er is terribly slow and the doctors know absolutely nothing. Absolute garbage of a hospital!

October 2014 they saved my life with the best of doctors, nurse, and techs. They helped me to be able to walk and breathe again. They are one of the best hospitals with the best staff I have ever met in my life!

From the security guard to the admission to the most awesome nursing staff, I could not have asked for better care. And the doctors were top notch. Always new everything that was going on. Keep up the great work.

my grandma had a severe heart attack and was rushed here and she was minutes away from dying but this isn't why I give it a 1 star it's because my grandma was put in bed barely fed and her mouth was bleeding because she was so dehydrated and when my mom drove ther to see her because she called at least 13 times and no response so when she got there she realized my grandma couldn't get water and no ne would help her so she called th nurse in and the nurses took 45 minutes to get to her and I am horrified not only did the doctors nick her artery and she had to stay an extra 2 weeks because of them and she had to pay for their almost fatal mistake, please don't go here!

Great medical care, but patient contact is lacking. My son recently had surgery at GHS and the vast majority of the experience went extremely well. The staff were all polite, nice, and helpful, from the receptionists to the nurses and doctors. We didn't have to wait unreasonably long at any point during our visit. The surgery went well, and the surgeon was very clear explaining what he did and why. The only complaint I have is that pre-registration and all the other steps leading up to the surgery were like pulling teeth. I had to call at least 5 different phone numbers, and none of them were clear about what department or purpose they served. I called one number, only to be told the files had been moved to another area of the hospital, and I would have to call there. All of this happened the day before the surgery, since we were informed that the hospital would call us. I understand that hospital policy may be to wait until the day before, but as a patient, it's extremely stressful to wait so long with no idea what time the surgery will be, where to go, or what to do in preparation. I'm thoroughly satisfied with the medical care my son received, but the hassle of pre-registration and all the other steps leading up to surgery should be streamlined in some way.

The physicians seem to be receptive at times, but at other times, they seem to be disorganized or misdirected. The nurses are also a mix of attentive, skilled, and caring to unresponsive, incompetent, and apathetic. In other words, there is a wide range of variance in the level of care one will receive here. The facility itself is fairly nice and modern with extensive food court options. The rooms are all private, and the staff has no issue accommodating for family members. Overall, this is an average hospital.

I was rushed there having had a strok at about 2130hrs 11 Jan.and the stroke detail moved into place and immediately took charge of my situation.and knew exactly what to so and did it with wxtream peofessionalism.the only dissappointment is that I'm a veteran and the GReenville VA clinic is practically next doorand their system was not "talking to the VA's system.admittedly it'speobably due to the VA not doing their part. However since the VA emergency room is all the way down in Columbia.odds are if a Veteran has a real emergency as I did theywill go upstatae some where and efficiently obtaining medicalinformation is very crucial.!!-pertinent!!!this Sould be resolved!!!

I was 300 miles from home and suffered unexpected complications from a pregnancy. Needed emergency surgery around 2am. I was virtually alone (boyfriend driving up from where we live and friend got a room with my 7 yo to calm her down) the staff on the night shift was very compassionate and made sure I understood the situation clearly. The surgery team was just as great and I felt at ease heading into surgery. My nurses were wonderful once in recovery. I spent most my day with Kristie on the 3rd floor. She was so understanding and encouraging during a difficult time. She made sure to fully explain my discharge to me and gave helpful tips for our 6.5 hr drive home. I have virtually no pain and feel very confident that I will recover quickly and nicely.

Thank you for the chapstick!

I showed up with a crippling injury. I waited literally hours for a bed and was forced to lay on the floor in the waiting room. They then, failed to treat me for said injury, failed to explain it to me as a nurse that looked like it was her first day came in to release me without any treatment, I still couldn't walk or sit, did nothing to help, and tried to charge me several thousand dollars for it all. RIP OFF! THIS PLACE IS GARBAGE. You might be better off just not going at all. Also, they give out your personal information to third parties. After going here, I received an onslaught of robo calls, sales calls, and even religious phone calls. All trying to get me to fall for some scam, or pay someone for services I had not received. This includes up to 3 robo calls per day from the hospital itself that my phone carrier labeled as "scam likely" because it is a scam. GHS IS A SCAM. thanks for nothing. I found a capable physician on the next business day, and he had me up in walking pain free in literally less than 20 minutes.... and all for around 50 dollars. Thanks for being a sham rip off GHS. Screw you, and screw your lame collection agency and your bully tactics. NOBODY LIKES YOUR GARBAGE FACILITY. People are NOT TO BE TREATED LIKE GARBAGE. But apparently that's not the policy here.
