This review is for Dr. Coates and most of the staff there - they are amazing! Always so accommodating...Dr. Coates, Cody, and Mindy are really great, seriously! James on the other hand, good luck to you if you get him, some days are better than others. I had a simple question, not even regarding the person he immediately tried to push me off too, then when I tried to explain why that wasn't really the person I needed to speak with he cut me off and tried to push me off on them again. Honestly, I can deal with that just for the service and sense of relief I get from everyone else there.

I went to see Dr Prenatt because I was sick. While there, I discussed with him and showed him my blood pressure has been running stage 2 for over 8 months (explained problems with my heart I’m experiencing and asked that we determine what treatment is needed to prevent further health issues. He told me that was “way too high of BP and You need to have it addressed ASAP”. Yet he then said “But you will have to come back for ANOTHER office visit to discuss, I won’t address it today” when I said “why I’m here now, you’re here now and it is currently high” shockingly he said “well I don’t know if someone yelled at you on all these days and made you upset” shocked I replied that is silly as I don’t have those reactions to being yelled at and I’m NOT being yelled at.”. Incredibly offensive but I set another appointments OVER 30 Days later for first avail and insisted I not be scheduled with him, requested Coates. Set appt and today showed up and it’s with EXACTLY WHO I SAID I DID NOT WANT TO SEE!! (Yet on my voicemail reminder they stated my appt is with COATES! They then said it will be almost 3 months to see Coates.... clearly this facility doesn’t know what their doing and don’t give a darn about patients medical needs and that they have to take time off work!. THEY WANT REVENUE DRIVIEN BY ADDITIONAL APPOINTMENTS CAUSING MORE OUT OF POCKET FOR PATIENT AND CO-PAYS FROM INSURANCE AND THIS CAN RESSULT IN DANGEROUS OUTCOMES. If you need medical help, avoid these games that show their bank account is more importantthan a patients medical needs..... not to mention their attitude was “I could care less”, an additional slap in the face by those with an oath to do right. Don’t go here, get a reputable place that actually gives a damn.

My review is not a specific doctor. It is for CPG. The corporate conglomerate that has a virtual monopoly on healthcare in the myrtle beach area. Personal experience has shown me the so called care givers don't give a damn about patients. They have the sytem rigged to line their pockets and the doctors that work for them.

If your goal is to find a competent, professional group and people that care about you don’t go here!! CPG is a joke.

If you desire friendliness, courtesy and professional behavior from your health care provider, don't choose this location. They never abide by their own policies. Seriously, never again!

My Father, who is a Vietnam Veteran, came into the office earlier this morning for a walk in visit and was told to return to the office at 4pm because that’s when walk-ins are seen. He arrived at the proper time and waited in line with the intentions of signing on. However, hewas unable to locate the sign in sheet due to no personnel being readily available or even within eyesight. He did overhear personnel talking behind the door and thought someone would be out shortly to assist him. Approximately 5 minutes later, a younger gentleman came to address my father and stated that they were no longer taking any walk-in patients;this was the only explanation that he was provided. I’m not certain why my father was asked to come at 4pm to receive services if services were in fact not going to be rendered. Please explain to me why he was not seen and service was refused. Is this common practice? Why have walk-in appointments if you’re not going to see patients who routinely visit your office? Where was the customer service? I’d like answers, please and thank you.

I recently moved to the area and tried Dr. Coates as my family physician. Dr. Coates is a competent and professional doctor and I liked her very much. However, the front office is completely indifferent to patients. Recently I picked up a nasty virus and had to visit an urgent care facility. Five days later after taking all prescribed medication, I was no better and called for an appointment with Dr. Coates. I was told, without compassion, that I could not get an appointment until the following month and that was the best they could do. I called another physician in the area and got an appointment the same day only 2 hours later as a new patient. I also witnessed an elderly lady get out of a cab and walk into the office with great difficulty because she was in pain from a fall. She was told very abruptly by a male receptionist that they were booked and she would have to go to urgent care. If I can't get access to my doctor when I am sick then I, unfortunately, am forced to go elsewhere which is too bad since I did like Dr. Coates. I recommend that the staff at this office take some kind of training on how to compassionately deal with sick people at their most vulnerable.
