I brought my girlfriend here because she was in excruciating pain. After making her wait an entire hour before giving her anything. We then waited three hours and had to ask for more nausea meds; but no one would provide it until the doctor came in and when dr. Does they say oh yeah you she can have more zofran (its 3AM) but quickly left the room not addressing why we came here in the first place because of her abdominal pain. An hour later I had to page them just to ask what was going on and another half an hour later we have to page again. The nurses act like your bothering them because you paged them but nobody informs you of what's going on or how they're helping you. Dont get me wrong a couple are nice but If you hit the buzzer they just come off as rude and no one really helps you (except that older nurse in brown scrubs)at 4am because then the doctor came to discharge her saying ovarian cysts can be painful. Do yourself a favor and go to Kent unless you have 5 hours to wait around just to wait to talk to a doctor in the emergency room. And oh on the way out they'll flag you down to say you owe us 150 dollars because our policy changed; sorry but hitting the bank wasn't the first priority when your in agonizing pain. It's pretty clear the hospital pushes its money making agenda far ahead of its patients,so much so they shouldn't even call themselves a hospital.

I love having a full service hospital, lab, diagnostic imaging, emergency services, out patient surgical services, infusion center as well as a full range of Med/surg care and maternity services under one roof. This is the last independent hospital in the region.

They are the worst ! Came here 4 times for the same issue and it’s kidney stones !

My husband was recently treated in the ER. Staff was professional, friendly and empathetic. Quickly triaged, diagnosed conducted confirming lab tests and got us out in less than an hour. Facility was extremely clean and well equipped and well staffed.

I usually have an uncomfortable experience going to the ER, but I had to go back on Saturday and I have to say Laurie Anderson treated me with the upmost respect and listened to me and treated me absolutely fantastic!!!!!! I can truly say that she is the best ER doctor and I wish more had the respect and bedside manner as she does.

I'm sure the inpatient care is excellent. However the ED leaves much to be desired. My daughter who is a student at URI was a patient there one night. She was seen by Dr. Casci who managed her intestinal complaints in a satisfactory fashion. What stinks is that he and his group do not take certain insurances so we were balanced billed for her care and his billing company would not even negotiate with us. It is beyond unethical for someone to staff an ED and have patients come in for care and then to be blindsided by unexpected bills beyond what their insurance covers. Given a choice, we would go to our personal physician or the student services. Neither of which is open in the middle of the night. It should be standard hospital policy that in the ED patients cannot be balanced billed for professional services. The hospital was very gracious with us and we took care of all their bills promptly.

Wednesday, I was admitted for extensive hernia surgery to South County Hospital. From the time I pulled into the hospital driveway, greeted by Valet services, then the timely and courteous voluteer staff escorting me to the surgical suite, the entire medical teams professional courtesy and dedication to making me feel safe and comfotable, one could not ask for more from a hospital. The people of South County and the State of RI are extremely fortunate to have a such an amazing care facility dedicated to their patients who walk under the Dome. I've had many surgical proceedures in the last 5 years as well as my sons, daughter, father and so many others who have also experienced this outstanding level of care and service as well. I am extremely grateful to SC Hospital's Staff, volunteers and doctors and I so appreciate you every day of my life. Thank you for caring for me and my entire family, friends and all of those patients who are blessed to "walk under the dome".

Peter L. Willis, Physically abusive emergency room doctor, who stripped me naked against my pleas, while he strangled me. Abused an Involuntary patient. Bigoted creep abuser. Charges dropped after investigation, broken system Sent team of lawyers to defend their anti-LGBT policies, no policy changes after abuse, state advocates referred to South County Hospital as "House of Horrors"

I have been a local resident for over 40 years, and I cannot say enough about South County Hospital. I have had three surgeries and numerous visits to the ER between myself, son and husband. I can't count the amount of tests I have had here, with the utmost professional and caring staff. My husband has had outpatient surgery for cancer and nerve damage here and we are astounded with the quality of care he received. We considered moving some time ago, but the draw for us to stay was the hospital! Prior to living in Wakefield, we both came from Cranston and had the displeasure of using Kent County (of which I have a nightmare story about) and Rhode Island. As far as the ER is concerned, they are privately run and any criticism should not be held against the hospital. But in all truth, I consider them first class too.

I work here and I love the organization!

This is the second time I have been a patient for total hip replacement with Dr. Michael Bradley as my surgeon. The service at that hospital Frost 1 unit was exceptional. Everyone was so pleasant service was above and beyond. Everyone could not do enough for me. They were like family. Dr Bradley was wonderful very patient and pleasant. It was a wonderful experience all the way around I highly recommend the doctor and the hospital.

The cancer center needs to be more on time 10:45 Apt get seen at 11:30

My wife went in for a preventative colonoscopy in November. It should have been zero cost but thanks to the billing department at South County, we paid over $400. They refused to recode it correctly so they could make more money. Don't go here unless you want to pay more out of pocket.

This hospital ER has become very ill equipped to deal with patients in the after hours -especially. TERRIBLE. I have a history of diverticulitis, and went in last night - with pain and fever and had experienced a 101 temp - the ydid a CT scan and urine and blood test - nothing showed on the scan - BUT I had been taking Amoxicillin since 24hrs before that - because I know from experience - and SoCo Hospital would know too - if they had believed me and checked their records! I've been there over 4 times for it!! Who wouldn't then give the antibiotics?? As a precaution anyway?? He gave me nothing with some paperwork that said "unexplained pain in lower abdomen" - it was the same as before - cramping, tenderness, pressure in center of bladder area, fever, I told them I KNEW the symptoms WELL - and presented with all of those. The only thing that was different was the fever - because the Amoxicillin that I took the day before broke it - before I arrived there 24 hrs later..THANK God I had some..is all I can say. ALSO - a woman hawked some sputum or something into a plastic type bag with a rubber ring at top and her companion threw it into the waste can near all of US - NO one cleaned it up - just left in an open waste can - EVEN after I TOLD them about it. This is my second bad experience at So Co Hospital ER - ( once for waiting hours while people watched something on a screen, they were all standing around doing that - and then not addressing the tick bite I had, while visiting for diverticulitis in the past - ) something has GONE TERRIBLY WRONG there. I complained once to their hotline and got a call back - but now I go to the director. I see other complaints here about Dr. Duran - even my Dr. aid he was ill advised NOT to give me the antibiotics that I had previously started the day before since I only had 4 left - even if nothing showed on the scan - knowing my history of 4 times there for the same thing - this place I fear, has become a joke in the ER, anyway.

Medical Center of excellence, superior urology staff, including Dr. JF Renzulli, MD, increíble nursing staff in urological post-procedure section, very pleased with the care received also by Chief of anesthesia

Lilli O'Hara

This place is absolutely despicable. We brought our friend in because we believed she was drugged out at a bar. She drank no more than usual but ended up unconscious. When we got to the hospital she spent an hour in a bed alone. No doctor saw her. Just several snarky nurses who said “she doesn’t seem to need blood work that much”. It was late and they were just absolutely too lazy to do so. She was waiting for service for an hour while a group of nurses just chatted and laughed away six yards from us. Additionally, a few months ago, I had a seizure and was rushed in as well. The staff refused to believe I had epilepsy and claimed that I was just drunk. Thank god I had my medical alert bracelet and card on me to prove I had the disorder. All in all, this place is a joke with horrible service. If there’s an emergency, travel the extra few miles to a better establishment. If I were able to offer this place zero stars aside from one, I absolutely would.

Yvonne Liu

I would give them a zero if I could. I was told that I needed surgery, so I contacted Ortho RI, South County Hospital AND CIGNA (my horrible insurance) before surgery, and they all told me the surgery would be covered in-network. Apparently the anesthesia provider (South County Anesthesia Associates) was out of network, but no one informed me of this until after my surgery, when my bill was sent to collections for balance-billing. Since CIGNA misinformed me, they should pay South County Anesthesia Associates as in-network’, and the anesthesia group should be willing to accept the in network rates - since they also failed to provide informed consent about their billing out-of network prior to the procedure. I already went through the appeals process and I am still falling victim to balance-billing. I do not recommend ANY of the parties mentioned above. South County Hospital being one of them!!

Hate this hospital, worst hospital have EVER BEEN TO! IF YOURE ARE A PERSON OF COLOR PLEASE TURN AROUND AND GO TO ANOTHER HOSPITAL BECAUSE THEY ARE RACIST. I waited one good hour for medical attention, mind you I had chest pains and was in the waiting room. From the comments I see I agree that this one nurse is horrific has such a bad attitude.

My grandmother just had her knee replaced and I’m appalled at this hospital. She had an accident on the way to the bathroom after 10 minutes of waiting for her nurse, I had to walk her because no one came. Her nurse never changed her bandages after the accident which raised alarm. My mother went to visit yesterday & my grandmother was walked into the bathroom while only in an adult diaper no pants on , the door was completely open, curtain & everything. Then the nurse walked her back to her bed & told my grandmother she didn’t need to change her BLOODY gauze from the day before. When my grandmother asked if they would change the bloody gauze the nurse said no, but she rewrapped it after she touched the floor & picked a piece of bloody gauze up. The nurse stood up & she moved the bed side table with my grandmothers dinner still on it without changing gloves or washing her hands. Perhaps more cleanliness training is needed.

South County Hospital was rated the Best Hospital for Surgery in Rhode Island by Consumer Reports in 2013 and there is a reason for that. Everyone there from the surgeons on down are really great. My husband and I have had three surgeries between us in the last eight months (2 knee replacements and rotator cuff surgery) and have been nothing but impressed with the care we have received. My husband's knee surgeries were both inpatient while mine was outpatient and the care was excellent in both venues. Never had better in any hospital and I have lived in many different states on both coasts. The orthopedic unit is especially well thought of, and I would include the doctors from South County Orthopedics in that as well. The nurses there are focused completely on their patients well-being and go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. Isak, Susannah, and James are all RNs there and they totally rock! All of the hospital staff are friendly and welcoming, and they have a host of volunteers providing many services, including Reiki sessions for patients, staffing a cafe, staffing the patient waiting area and the welcome desk, and other services. Some provide beautifully quilted lap robes that patients may take home. The patient and the family's comfort are seen to, including allowing me to spend the night with my husband in his room. All the rooms in the ortho unit are private rooms with sofa/chairs that make up into beds. Guess you can tell that I think rather highly of South County Hospital. I believe they deserve my admiration. At 56, I've been to a lot of hospitals, and I know a good one when I see it!

Allie Readyhough

Great experience with care and support after delivery my baby at women and infants. Staff really cares about your needs and concerns. Great follow up and support provided.

Michael Sweeney

Great cardio therapy. Staff was so friendly and helpful. They have everything here- treadmills, bikes, weight machines, workout balls, etc. Anything you need they have snd they monitor your progress.

Well I came at 11:00 pm and the nurse took me in right away fist time here so they needed my complete medicine list which I got easily from my pharmacy website also they wanted my complete medical history which I gave to the best of my knowledge. When she was finished she asked me to wait back in the waiting room were I waited about 20 minutes before they took me in the back and put me in a room. This is were my insurance information was taken and I was registered . This took a little time to do I took about thirty minutes it's now 11:55pm and am finally ready to see the Dr . This is when they asked me if I wanted the TV on and said it may take awhile to be seen because it's was a shift change and they only have one Dr on the floor at that time . I took a hour and a half for the Dr come it but he was awesome and I feel so much better now . It was definitely worth the wait . The doctor was outstanding and all of the staff was courteous and pleasant .

Probably the worst hospital I've ever been to. Never been treated more rude in my life at a place that's supposed to help me. Just because I'm a college student doesn't mean that I don't deserve the same respect as other patients.

I went to South County Hospital today, June 1st 2017, and I have to say, easily the worst facility i've been too in a long time. I went in for a swollen eye and soar throat. Everything was fine when they first started. But after the lady came in to take my insurance information, they wanted nothing to do with me from there on out. I waited over and hour to get a throat culture done, which is completely obserd. I understand they have other patients as well, but the staff was so rude. Eventually I came out of my room and asked the nurses to cut the bracelet off of me because I was going elsewhere because this was taking waaaaay to long. They both looked up at me from shoving their faces with yogurt and gave me a mean glance and said "okay" with an attitude. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. NOBODY WAS HELPFUL. I WILL STILL BE CALLING TO MAKE SURE THEY DIDNT CHARGE ME FOR THAT VISIT BECAUSE I WAS NEVER SEEN BY A PROVIDER OR A DOCTOR.

G.R

Avoid this hospital. They’re not fully equipped to handle patients. I cut my finger and I was told by 2 nurses in the ER that I need stitches. I waited 6 hours to see the doctor and when she came she was very rude and unprofessional and said who told you your finger needs stitches and she put bandaid and left. She came back to throw couple papers for me to sign without saying any word and disappeared. She seemed sleepy and disrespectful. Totally waste of time and money. I’m sure another patient needed that room more than me. They made me wait 6 hours in it for a bandaid while the waiting area was full of patients.

This was my second visit to this hospital and. like the first time I am without words. The staff is a notch above fantastic. I was treated with respect and dignity, food very good and I truly enjoyed my stay. Grateful the hospital in my area is the SCH

This place is horrible. I went to there ER because I was congested and weezing and the doctor told me you are fine. So i asked him how can you tell that without a chest xray or tests and he had nothing to say because he knew I was right. He gave me my discharge papers and told me to leave. So much for helping people. I will be getting a laywer and going after this doctor for neglecting to provide medical care. Stay away from South County Hospital. Horrile horrile place.

My husband had back surgery today with Dr. Madom. He is the BEST! I will recommend him to anyone and everyone! I also have to say that I have never been to South County Hospital, but that is the place where we will go from now if needed! We had the best nurses, rehab women, volunteers, etc. Everyone was incredible!

Awful & traumatizing experience, spent night chemically restrained on stretcher (aka sedated), placed in 4-point mechanical restraints, having my clothes cut off with scissors, all while being strangled and abused by Peter L. Willis MD

This is health care for profit folks. In 2008, I was scheduled for lithotripsy on a kidney stone that was blocking my ureter... The pain was excruciating, but gradually subsided. The day that I showed up for the procedure, the urologist turned me away for lack of insurance. In 2016, the same kidney stone reared its ugly head. Fortunately I did have insurance this time. My procedures were extensive and expensive, because the kidney stone had been neglected for so long... It was the size of my thumb nail and stuck in the ureter. I am still in the hospital after a stent was inserted from my kidney to bladder and a failed lithotripsy... A catheter is in my back going into the kidney the stone was broken up and removed... So, I wake up from my surgery in pain, multiple tubes coming out of my body...and no button to call for the nurse. I yell for help and assistance. Finally a nurse comes in, but doesn't identify herself as such. I ask for my phone and she throws my bag of personals on the bed and tells me to start digging. Mind you, I can't lift my body and I'm slightly out of my mind... This nurse was so rude, I wanted to strangle her with my catheter... You suck Nurse Nicole Crammer. It gives the others a bad name, who work so hard. Feeling nauseous... Time to yell for a nurse. South County Hospital SUCKS...

Waiting for over 3 hrs watching people walk in and out and no idea when or where they are gonna see someone

I'm from Souh County, so naturally I went to South County Hospital first when I was found out I was pregnant. Never in my life have I experienced such blantant rudeness in a practice, the front desk women are constantly snacking and will put conversations with eachother before people trying to check in, on top of it when they FINALLY do talk to you they act like you're bothering them. Eye-rolling is defiantly present with all of them. This is all the same with the nurses as well. It's a shame to see how poorly south county does hiring people, or maybe it's how they're managed. To have such a beautiful facility filled with horrible staff is such a waste. I then went all the way to women and infants in Providence (over an hour drive) just to receive better care and service, which luckily they had.

Great Hospital! Nice staff

I can not say enough good about South County Hospital. I had a procedure done 6 weeks ago and surgery yesterday. Both times I was treated in a modern, clean facility by the most caring and compassionate staff and doctors. I had my pre-admitting testing done at the medical center on Post Rd, Westerly and everyone there was friendly, helpful and professional. Dr. Neuhauser went above and beyond to take care of me before and after surgery, taking the time to sit and talk with me, answering all my questions. I felt very confident that I was in good hands. The pre-op and operating staff were wonderful, answering all my questions and making me feel at ease. My room nurses were the best ! Friendly, helpful, caring, professional and they all had a good sense of humor. Even the food was good, arriving in my room piping hot. The clam chowder was better than I had in some restaurants. Overall, I was very, very pleased with my experience at South County Hospital and I would recommend it to anyone.

Between Febuary of 2014 and January of 2015, I have had two total knee replacements and a total left shoulder replacement. Dr. Marchand did the knees and Dr Bradley did the shoulder. I really like South County Hosp. The nursing staff is fantastic as are all of the different departments and administrators. My stays were all the best care that i could have gotten anywhere. The nurses were totally focused on your care and comfort and visitors are treated with the utmost respect. The food was very good and the kitchen staff deserves to be congratulated on their fine work in making sure the patient is well served and coddled. I am 73 years old and can be a crank sometimes, but the spirit they showed me at South County Hosp, kept my crankyness in check at all times. Kudos for all of the staff there. Going to a hospital can be a stressful experience for some but my three stays there made me a fan for life. Great Job,Well Done. You ought to be proud!!

I was treated in the ED by Dr. William Sabina a few days ago for corneal abrasions to my eye. I was very impressed with the skill with which Dr. Sabina dealt with my problem. He was very professional and efficient but at the same time very pleasant and personable. I also want to compliment Bethany who dealt with the medications and information.

I was assaulted and went to the emergency room for help. There was no one in the waiting area so I saw intake quite promptly. They asked me if I got into a fight where I told them I couldn’t remember (perhaps I was knocked out or had a concussion) and that I’m on blood thinners and couldn’t stop bleeding. I was shown the rest room and was left alone. I went back into the waiting area where the doors where closed and blind pulled down tight. I was in a lot of pain perhaps broke a rid, and bleeding all over myself. I was also confused and waited for what seemed a very long time but no one came to me. I finally got up and drove home. Luckily I didn’t get into an accident. Way to go south county hospital. I plan on speaking to an attorney. Something needs to be done.

Cannot say enough for the ED staff who recognized & caught the seriousness of our little one's infection. They moved swiftly to begin treatment & transfer our baby. We are eternally grateful for their astute observation, treatment, & care. Thank you SC ED!!!!!!

Well for one thing im sitting at the side of my bed watching all the ants walking around my floor, even the bathroom has them! Disgusting! The people are rude and im sure I will never come back here ever!!! The person that worked the hardest for me was Dave. I am grateful for his determination! The worst is a privacy problem. They need to surround the nurses station with glass or plexi to keep our privacy private!

This hospital is our hospital. Doctors are affiliated with their practice. They have OUTSTANDING service. The food is good.

Waited 4 hours to get prednizone for a enflamed stomach after a allergic reaction to a pecan. I was in excruciating pain and they wouldn't take me sooner unless "I was throwing up or not able to breath". There were less then 10 people in the ER waiting room.

Ms B

They are very disorganized,Booked an appointment online,no email confirmation,no calls ,walked in for my appointment and they told me they can’t accept new patient anymore, immediately I walked in to the door ,from the volunteers I knew the hospital staffs have no knowledge of what they are doing

Awful service. Some lady was going into labor and they did not care and made her wait outside the door.. wouldn't even open it up for her. No sense of urgency. Not how i would want to be treated. Very unhelpful and rude. Said i could see a patient in 10 minutes. Waited 2 hours. Horrible service. Better off treating yourself at home!

South County Hospital would get zero stars from me if it were possible. I have never been anywhere before that actually tried to kill me. When I was six months pregnant, I was rushed to South County Hospital by my sister... with the most obvious textbook case of DVT possible. My left leg was twice the size of the other, bright purple, and I was screaming in pain. when we got there, she announced that I had a blood clot, and would need treatment. After being admitted and taken upstairs, I was told by a doctor (woman, late thirties, blonde ponytail) that there was absolutely nothing wrong with me, and my options were to be discharged, or to spend the night and have some "physical therapy" in the morning. Of course nobody knew it at the time, but my left iliac vein was fully blocked from my hip to my knee, and after looking at several ultrasounds, the dumb (and very rude) b**** actually read the scans wrong, and thought that a little stretching might clear up the problem?! my sister, who isn’t even a doctor, but a PA, told her that she was wrong, some awkwardness ensued, and to make a long story short, I ended up in Providence at Women & Infants for two weeks being treated with an aggressive amount of heparin, and every form of pain medication available round the clock. Six months later, I was still injecting myself with blood thinner twice daily. My honest advice would be that if you are suffering from something you suspect could be serious- please do not go here.... this wasn't a minor, honest mistake. it was negligence and laziness. You have a major problem when the PA who runs the CVS Minute Clinic in Wakefield can diagnose what the hospital staff doctors ignored for several hours.

I was treated yesterday for a car accident. I came from West Warwick, to receive Superior treatment then I would have gotten from Kent County Hospital. South County Hospital didn't disappoint. They were Extremely Professional. Megan V. thank you for listening to me and making my visit pleasant and memorable. Thank you to Karen my Nurse and Pamela my Nurse Practitioner. Both of which paid close attention to detail in my case. They all went above and beyond the call... Thanks to you all, and I wish you all my best.
