Delivered my twins here 3 weeks ago. Dr. McMillan was the best. I was scared to death & he along with the other drs & nurses were there for my babies & I every step of the way. From the people who gave me the epidural to the nurses who cared for me when I was in recovery were on point, very kind, & patient. The nursery was amazing with my newborns & was patient with my husband & I. I really appreciated Ms. Patricia (nursery) she was the sweetest. The lactation consultant was very patient & knowledgeable. I would def do it all over again & would only do it at RWJ!

One of the most sorry hospitals I have ever been in. They have elevators down. Because of that a lot of people are getting lost. They charge for parking. They let people take 2 spots and don't charge them for both spots. They also have a section closed off. The best part of that is no work is being done at thot time. Since they are about taking our money one would think you would want every spot open. This place doesn't impress me at all

Worst hospital ever. The sad thing is their doctors are the nicest some of them I would say but the hospital is the worst. I got to the ER on Thursday the doctor decided to admit me say I would be transfer to a room in a couple hours.. I waited in the Er for 3 days everyday they kept giving me the run around about been over populated no rooms. I couldn’t get no help the nurse never came when needed and the want to plug You to this stupid monitor that takes 2 hrs to get someone to come unplug you to use the bathroom.. the Er is the worst I hate that place.. the 3 rd day of waiting I ask the nurse to call the doctor I’m leaving I rather go somewhere else where I can actually get help or go lay home n be sick then sit here another day waiting. Which he came idk what he did the nurse told me by 6 pm they had a room for me they coming to move me they just cleaning it it’s 9pm now still waiting no one know what’s going on. I been asking to speak to my nurse she refuse to come to my room so I’m packing my stuff I’m walking out I’m done with this place.. ps I’m actually waiting while writing this smh!!!

My surgery experience was excellent. Im having post-op treatments now. Be aware the valet parking closes at 5pm. There's NO SIGN informing you of that. That's my only issue.

Susan Jacobs

Extremely disappointed with the experience at this hospital especially, after convincing my father to go there. The wait for a proceedure, test and room was beyond ridiculous. We arrived at 6am as requested for what was a two hour proceedure and didn't leave until 830pm. There were no complications just excuse after excuse only to find out no rooms were available until 7pm. Went to the nurses station on the way out to ask were his nurse was and she had left st 715pm no new nurse was introduced and we said he was supposed to have two things done to him at 8pm. Dismissively, I was told we will get to him. Lots of nurses sitting at the nurses station. Of the MANY people we encountered there were two nice ones. The icing on the cake was how DIRTY his room was with wrappers and other garbage on the floor. Here we wait day two being told for over three hours any minute he will go for an ecoccardiogram he can go home. Now we were told the tech is not here yet. RIDICULOUS just be honest so people can plan!

Although its a good hospital, the ER needs much improvement in organization. 6 hour wait for a bed when I was admitted. It need hospitality/volunteers that can go around and ask caregivers and/or patients if they need anything. Coffee/Tea should be avail for all that comes into the ER.

Mason Robinson

Stay away from this ER. Came in at 9pm. Still sitting here at 4am with no signs of a doctor telling me any of my blood results or cat scan results. People have come in after and left before me. Every time I ask what’s going on they just brush me off and say “give us a sec.” I just gave this hospital a shift. I’ve had a needle in my arm for the past 5 hours and it’s not hooked up to anything. They have mistaken someone for me and allowed them to cut me and take my tests and they had a completely different issue. This is pathetic.

Never coming here again! I dont care if I'm dying I will go any where else but here! I got into a head on car crash and ended up smashing into a wall a few months back and got picked up by paramedics to get checked out since I hit my head just to play it safe I went. I get hit with a 1500 bill for a 1.1 mile ride to hospital! Than I get inside they rush me through to get a wrist band and make it seem like they are worried about me but just to be let down and go into the waiting room while people are in the same room with the FLU! and my arms and head are bleeding from Cuts! (Talk about a hole in one for germs!) Than I finally get into a curtain off room after sitting for almost an hour in agonizing pain barely could walk from the pain and my face hurting from air bag and the second impact of steering wheel they go ok your good to go your going to be soar for about a week I laughed and said really? You guys drag me through this hell and everything to tell me after 5 minutes of seeing a er doctor that I'm ok? After I complain my legs face knees and back/neck hurt no offers to do cat scans or nothing yeah that's a real doctor! Haha. What a joke than I'm getting a 8k bill for this when the accident was not my fault and they want me to contact her insurance to solve all this. So I ask myself why am I getting 8 phone calls a day from rwj for billing and why am I not getting paid to do thier Job? Never will I recommend this place. Poor poor poor everything.

I love RWJ Hospital so much, it treated me right, it was also a big help to me when I had a Heart problem. RWJ Hospital in my opinion is that It would probably be the only hospital....that I can trust, that makes me love going their, and a hospital that will take care of me 100% better.

Luanne Norris

If I could give 0 stars I would. The nurses in this hospital are some of the rudest nurses I’ve ever had dealings with. My elderly parents have been in and out of the hospital several times over the last few years and with the exception of the ER they’ve been awful on every floor. The most recent interaction was with my mother’s nurse in the CCU. Just awful. Dismissive, rude and very arrogant.

This hospital has gotten worse since the merger and all the construction in the world can not fix the ER Doctor's & Nurses horrible bed side manner!! I have a medical condition that causes me to lose Spinal fluid , this condition is painful , causes Neuro impairments, vomiting and just overall wrecks havoc on my body. I would be deemed disabled at the age of 34 years old by Social Security and I've had to learn how to structure my life around this condition. I searched all over the country for a Neuro surgeon and would find Dr. Danish who is a blessing in my life!! He performed a complex surgery to remove a tumor around my spinal cord and did what he could to patch up a massive tear in my spinal sac( Dura). The Brain produces spinal fluid that is sealed in the spinal sac that covers the brain and spinal cord with a person losing spinal fluid in large amounts is typically not seen by doctors. They see this when a person is rushed in for a major trauma but typically not seen in a patient walking around , with that being said ive had to enter the ER through out the years due to a massive headache, vomiting, shaking , extremely high blood Pressure.... Nureo departments have gotten frustrated with ER staff due to their limited knowledge and education which impacts how i am treated in ER. Ive been ridiculed, called a frequent flier , asked if i get tired of utilizing the ER and a slew of other unprofessional and unethical things transpire from RWJ staff. I get told " You only have a headache" this is where education on these conditions should be given to ER Doctor's and ER nurses. Yes i get headaches but i get whats called and Orthostatic headache ( headache that occurs while in vertical position (when sitting up or standing) and when in horizontal position ( laying flat ) it somewhat eases the headache. Spinal headaches are caused by leakage of spinal fluid through a puncture hole in the tough membrane (dura mater) that surrounds the spinal cord. What complications are associated with a spinal headache? Untreated spinal headaches can cause life-threateningcomplications including subdural hematoma (bleeding in the skull that puts increased pressure on the brain) and seizures. Other rare complicationsinclude infection and bleeding in the back. These definitions are from medical books ... Point being that the condition is serious, painful and impacts a person's life on a daily basis. To have obnoxious comments from ER Doctor's and Nurses such as " why do you always come to ER." " You only have a migraine headache its nothing serious" " We are not given you meds , we think youre here seeking " " we are not calling Neuro surgery to bother them with this " " oh look the frequent flier is here" and the list goes on and on. I have been wrongly accused of seeking drugs but i pull out all my medications for this condition and low and behold i always have these pain meds they claim im trying to seek!! If i find that the pain meds are not working , i stop taking them because it is pointless to ingest larger doses and is irresponsible too. My Neuro doctors have admitted me in the past to get pain levels under control that was being caused by large amounts of losing spinal fluid. It takes anywhere from 6-10 hours to replenish 1cc of spinal fluid which is such a small tiny amount. When you start to question the nurse or doctor they start with " we will call security". Which ive had security called on me while being upset that a nurse in the next curtain threw bloody towels threw the curtain into my section. This nurse thought noone was in the bed bc i had gone for a procedure. I had another patients blood smeared all across me. Then when i said "wtf" the other patients family members started yelling at me even though they had no clue that bloody towels were thrown. I had security called on me due to my boyfriend recording the situation and security was trying to obtain the phone. In turn i had to basically run out the front ER , call New Brunswick police all in order to get rwj security to stop harassing me. Ive encountered alot here

I will Never Ever recommend anyone to this hospital. The doctors have very little to minimal communication. They lack organization. I’m writing from the ER room to the Cancer Center. The ER room has so many OSHA violations. They all run around with chickens without their heads. Then you have to wait four to six hours for a bed. The doctors don’t take accountability for their actions. Make sure the doctor you see are board certified. I was in horrid how they cleaniness of the room. I was witness to doctors scrambling around and not planning my surgery accordingly. They didn’t commicate at all. I was admitted for two weeks and two weeks of horror. I ask to be discharge. They discharge me and they never order a nurse for my Nephrostomy tube for my kidneys. I’ve follow up with them requesting the nurse to drain my tube. A month went by and finally a nurse shows up. I probably would have better care in a third world country. Please do your research. Before you go any hospital especially the doctor treating you.

Bad, bad attention!! I wait for 12 hours in emergency, but their bills coming soon and very expensive!!

John Strat

From the counter staff and employees were pleasant, helpful and made me feel comfortable with all the work that I need on my teeth. Dr. Brian Wolf was outstanding and provided excellent dental work for all my needs (which were many). He will be a asset to any to his future endeavors. thank you all

Never in my life have I experienced such unprofessionalism and a disregard for patients and their families as I have with this hospital. My father was flown to this hospital with life threatening emergency. He had 2 very serious, extensive surgeries while there. He was a patient for nearly a month. We asked repeatedly about discharge while he was there and was always told he was not ready yet. My brother asked the case worker on 11/13 if my father would be discharged any time soon and he was told there was no mention of d/c yet. On 11/15 my brother, then I, received phone calls at 4 pm saying they were discharging my father the next morning. No plan in place, snow storm taking place as we were on the phone with them. We were told he would need multiple Dr visits to check his blood due to high risk of blood clots, dressing changes (he still had a wound vac in place), PT appointments. None of this was set up but they were insisting he leave the next morning. Insisting to the point that one nurse came and told him he HAD to be out by midnight the next day and another nurse came in and told him they would get him an Uber or Lyft and the hospital would pay for it! (we were planning for him to go to my brothers home in PA, so they wanted to send him in a snowstorm 2.5 hrs away alone in an Uber with a draining incision area). My father was completely worked up, upset and feeling sick by the evening time because of the threat of being thrown out and fear of having to leave without his needs in place and fear of what might happen to him because of it (blood clots, death) I called his case worker, Jackie and Mia, Jackie said she wasn't "actually" his case worker and Mia listened to me, said she would speak with the Dr and call me back. I never heard from her again!!! The hospital relented and let my father stay another day while we made plans. After a 7 hour discharge process, my father is now home at my brother's. Home health nurse came today and said my father's insurance will cover NOTHING now that he is out of state (he normally lives in NJ). HOW WERE WE NOT MADE AWARE OF THIS BEFORE DISCHARGE??? Caseworker knew our discharge plan and had his insurance info and said nothing!!! Now what do we do? I will be filing formal complaints with the hospital and the Joint Commission. I encourage anyone who has been through this with this hospital to do the same. Oh and as a parting gift they lost his dentures and are "looking into it

I felt so much better going there. I went to Rartain bay and they did nothing. RWJ made me feel good.

My mom was in for a heart problem. She received excellent care and attention from the entire staff. Her birthday occurred over the blizzard weekend and we couldn't get to the hospital. The staff gave her a party and cake - very caring people and upbeat. She underwent her surgery the following week and is doing quite well. Thank you all at Robert Wood Johnson!!

Maria Alvarez

My daughter has been in preterm labor since 32 weeks. We’ve been to the hospital about 3-4 times already every time we are treated less than others. The nurses have yelled at her boyfriend and have also been rude to me mumbling with their colleagues stuff about us. Today we were there since 2 p.m for contractions and pressure from the baby she’s now 36 weeks and we keep getting residents who don’t even know what they’re doing for god sakes she has a hernia and has had her first son early and we don’t even get a head doctor. We were there since 2:30 p.m and treated poorly said they’d do an ultrasound for the hernia nearly 10 p.m she got so anxious and walked out nobody came to her and the so called high risk doctor we got asked her what was happening when coming to check up on her again and before she even got finished or started she walked out mid sentence and never came back. I do not recommend for Labor and Delivery nurses and doctors swear you come in because you like to be there. POOR excuse for a hospital

Waiting was very long in Emergency room, over 1 hour for Pediatrics. Security wouldn't call administration. Don't like the Idea of scanning individual license into their system

David Walters

Staff great! Procedure went well. Got parking validated yet card only gave a $3.00 credit on a $9.00 parking bill. The attendant standing 10 feet away had his head down on his phone and didn't even look up while struggled. Monday august 7th. @10:08 am. Didn't have name badge on!

This 5 stars are for CCU unit and Dr. Vaganescu ! They are incredible team and very professionals ... my mom she had heart surgery done it in the most professional way by Dr. Vaganescu and the nurses from CCU are amazing (Diego , Evelyn ,Ashley , Jessica ,Lisa , Philippino nurse so many and so professional , sorry if I couldn’t remember all of you... great ladies ... ) Thanks again !

My 81 year old father was brought into the ER today because he fell, hit his head and hurt his knee. He touched his head and got blood all over his hand. I told the RN and he told me he would get something to clean him up with, I also asked him if they were going to clean his wombs. Too so long that I went into the bathroom, got a soapy paper towel and cleaned both his hand and his knee. This poor man sat for such a long time with an open cut on his head with all the ER germs around him. Now let's get to the real problem. Dr tell him he's going to get a tenanus shot. To save time I went to get the car with my mother. She my brother to give him an update and he tells her that my father just got a tetanus there in April. RN brings my father up and I tell him my concern ..He tells me no big deal. That's it's really for prophylaxis..I said listen I have been in the medical field for 30 years do you guys not keep records in this Hospital how do you dismiss the fact that you gave him the same shot that you gave him several months ago. This is why medical costs have gotten out of control. Billing and doing unnecessary medical procedures.

ike marv

Amazing Labor and delivery center!!! Kindest and most knowledgeable staff! April, the nurse was an amazing, kind, and compassionate nurse!

Currently taking my mother to and from the Cancer Institute for consultation and treatment. It's a big place, and our first time here, so it was a bit daunting. For the most part, the doctors and other staff have been great - friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. I just had to look lost for a random person passing by to ask if I needed help getting somewhere. Waiting rooms/reception areas are also pretty nice. Hospital seating areas aren't always the most cheerful places, but they are spacious and brightly lit here. *Edit: had to change my review because of how well the hospital staff took care of my mother. The good outweighs the bad.

Joseph Valmores

Caring and friendly staff. You just gotta ask them, if there's anything you need, and they will help you out. Shout out to the ER staff, the admin/front desk. Always willing to help - with a smile.

Naeem Shuman

My girlfriend and I had visited the ER this afternoon and had a very unprofessional experience front desk workers where very rude and pushy for information then when she went for an EKG the specialist Darlene was being very irate and rough when doing the check. Most ignorant and pushy staff ever. Wouldn’t recommend anyone to visit here.

SAIDEEP SIDDAMSHETTY

I'm really not sure what they meant it is an emergency care. We got admitted at 7 PM in the evening and the doctor visited at around 9. They did couple of tests and they lesat cared about the patient. After bothering the nurse for few times she came and gave a pain medication. Finally, they mentioned that the patient need to tranfer to Newbrunswick at around 1 AM and the ambulance came at 2:45 AM. Once we reached at the Newbrunswick emergency room they mentioned that the doctor was waiting outside for us and they just left us in the corridor for many hours. We have asked many times to the staff about the doctor and they were like we don't care. If doctor is free she will attend and we don't know how long that is going to take. I'm still surprised what they meant by ER treatment. This was really a very bad experience to the patients and as well as to the others. We do understand that there are many patients who need emergency treatment but I believe the process of in taking of a patient can be better. I hope this message will be read by the relevant people and they improve the process.

Dr Francis in Obgyn is the worst doctor I have ever met. She was rude and very inconsiderate. I was concerned that throughout my pregnancy I was losing weight instead of gaining and her response was to laugh and say" well you're 200 lbs". I hate being rude to people but I regret to this day for not putting her in her place. She is there to help, not to judge me. Also I had a c-section and they shame you into not getting pain medication. Dr. Francis tried to discharged me without it. I was in so much pain that I told the nurse that I couldn't go home without some type of medication for the pain. I understand pain medication is addictive and dangerous but I just had major surgery and was in extreme amount of pain. All I'm saying is having a baby should be one of the best experiences of your life. Don't let them force you to get treated by a doctor that is just going to make you regret going to that hospital in the first place. There were some wonderful nurses and my son's nurse was amazing. I just wish It was like that throughout my entire visit.

Guang Chen

Just had our baby boy here. The nurse and doctors are very professional and highly motivated on taking care of the mother and the baby. Olga the lactation consultant is amazing! Food for mother after delivery is not bad at all. Great experience!

Staff showed no compassion, desensitized, very dehumanizing. Excessive waiting time. Made me feel like I was in jail. I told them I was a patient in need of care, not a prisoner. Staff seemed disgruntled. Several employees told me RWJ merged with Barnabas and they weren’t at all happy. It’s all about money. If your going to be a care giver, compassion ,and diplomacy are required characteristics. If you don’t like your job or your employer go somewhere else.

Biren Patel

If I could give 0 stars I would Night Time nursing staff in patient recovery beyond lazy, I watched as my mother recovering from surgery ask to be cleaned 3 times after she went to the bathroom in her bed, nearly 3 hours went by before I decided to just change her sheets and help her clean herself... If you want a loved one to recover with actual professionals I suggest you find another hospital, no one will watch after the quality of treatment for your loved ones while they recover unless you are there

Mo Hesari

After my second surgery which I had to do it again because they left part of removable part inside my body, they made a sample of that removable part and sent to a laboratory. After a couple weeks when I followed the test results, they said “ the lab didn’t find anything and there is no results” now after 7 months after my second surgery that I have to do another surgery because of their mistakes again, just 3 days ago they called and said “ we found your first test results “, which if I knew about the results at a time, I do not need to do this third surgery. They don’t care about you in this f... place. Do not go to this hospital.

Laura Manka

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital I must say I’ve always had faith and trust in this hospital and their care. However, I must say i have officially lost it. The care that my frandmother is currently receiving is just unacceptable. She is sitting in a hospital bed with absolutely no medical necessity and is only still there due to lack of communication and poor medical care. She has not been assisted out of bed in 6 days. She has no musculoskeletal complication or issues with gait and balance. I was in the room for 3 hours today and the nurse did not come in ONCE. Her water pitcher was empty since yesterday while she’s receiving diuretics. When we ask for a doctor or resident the nurse tells us they’re supposed to come between 1-3pm just to find out the doctor isn’t even ON STAFF today. The negative attitude of the staff on 4W and the pure disrespect is just sickening. My grandmother sits in bed all day developing stage 1 pressure sores with no check in from anyone and no one helping her out of bed. Being a nurse I must say I promise and vouch to NEVER treat my patients like this and to forever advocate for them to receive the best care possible.

Saddy Santana

Horrible service came in with my mother at 3pm yesterday and still currently waiting now 4pm to get put in an actual room.We were told it would only be about an hour yet it has been 13 hours. We will definitely not be coming to this hospital again.

Cat Cat

Emergency room terrible. You are ignored for hours. Lost blood work waited hours to redo. Tried to order meds for me that were clearly stated I had critical allergy to. Good thing I was aware enough to say something. 4 people stuffed of us in one tiny room meant for one and need to change go to the bathroom with strangers right there. No privacy. Staff very impersonal,

Stephanie Marton

From day 1 this has been a terrible experience for my mother. The ER techs dont know how to put in an IV, poked my mom 6 times and now there are complications with the IV area. After being treated terribly and taking hours to get a room no one offered food to her for 3 days while everyone else got some and were asked. The doctors are rude and no one tells you anything. It is a guessing game to these people who just want to bleed you dry of your money. Everyone is reactive instead of proactive. What are doctors for anyways? We will be avoiding this place at all costs the next time around. If you come here be prepared for terrible care...

Dorothy

I went to the ER a few days ago. The ambulance said it would be better to go to Robert Wood. I was there for over 8 hours. The ER was over crowded and they could not get to you for hours. I was in a lot of pain and later found out I had a broken rib. Although the care they give was great. The nurses took forever to come when you called, the X-ray and cat scan and blood work took hours. They didn’t leave me a button to call the nurse and I couldn’t move. Talking was painful and it was hard to yell for help. They didn’t give me pain meds for hours and I was crying in pain and no one cared. I felt ignored for a long time. I had to wait hours for a cup of water cause no one was around. There was a volunteer going around he went to everyone but me. They need more nurses and doctors because and bigger space to move around. There were people everywhere more people than they can handle. I should have went to Saint Peters.

16 horas atrás I would like to share with everyone a fact that has happened to us this weekend. At dawn on Saturday. I went to the RWJ Emergency Service with my wife who had severe abdominal pains. All members of the nursing team attended us promptly and professionally. Two medical teams attended us, surgeons and gastroenterologists. After being medicated and done a CT Scan, they found that there was an inflamed area and there was a need for hospitalization for administration of antibiotics and other venous medications. We were transferred to the North Tower 6 floor. Everything went well during Saturday and Sunday. By Monday they had released a liquid diet. My wife was recovering and was very happy about the outcome of the case. Until the evening we were notified that we would be transferred to another area of the hospital. The transfer occurred late afternoon. When we arrived at the transfer site, we realized that it was a sector of extreme patient traffic. This sector of the hospital specializes in abdominal trauma. A real blip and completely opposite the place where we spent Saturday and Sunday. It was not a single room. It was a room with two beds and very little space. The air conditioner was off. There was no refrigerator. No accomodations for an escort. Leda, my wife, who was quiet began to tremble and cry. She is a cancer survivor of extreme malignancy and super fragile immunologically. The nursing team gave us sympathy for our disappointment. I called the nursing supervisor to get in touch with a doctor in charge of Leda. It took hours before the surgeon arrived. He explained that we should stay there until the next day and that he himself did not know the reason for the transfer. A discharge would be given the next day after eating solid food. There was no more reliability with the service that was once excellent and reliable. My wife asked us to go home. They treated us with a "kick in the ass" as if we were something of no interest. We signed the exit papers and returned home disappointed with the "finale". In my ignorant opinion they dismissed the surgery and the case became uninteresting and put us in some place. A sad end to an institution that welcomes and is based on customer satisfaction.

Had my experience in the hospital this weekend. Staff in the ER was wonderful and made me very comfortable. Thanks to the nurses Nicole, Julie, John, and Kim. Also Dr. Ronald for his assistance.

Such a wonderful hospital! I was transferred to this hospital from Kimball Medical Center. All the staff was so caring and kept checking on me to be sure I was okay or if they could get me anything. Checking out was extremely fast. At this hospital they don't try to rush you out they or treat you like your just another patient. Wonderful hospital I couldn't have asked for better service!!!!!!! Great Job Robert Wood Johnson Hospital. M. Swann

Worst hospital ever employees don't care about the patient. Very unorganized making desicion. People from this hospital care about doing the practice and making money that's all... I will make sure the news know about this hospital

We had a great experience yesterday at the ER . My husband was hit in the mouth with a softball. The doctor's and nurses were attentive and caring. They did a cat scan and we had the results in a timely fashion. They then called in a dentist Dr Collin SHU who was equally great. Considering that they had 7 traumas yesterday, we have NO complaints.

My sister just had her baby not too long ago. She told me there were bed bugs at the hospital!!!! She’s been in and out of that place for a long time for her doctor appointments!! We pray we don’t get any bed begs from this damn hospital. Aside from that the rooms make you feel as if you’re in a dungeon!! They’re gloomy and pitiful looking! They’re very small rooms with no view except the top of the building where all the air conditioning units are! They’re very particular on how things should be done while you’re there. If you want to bring your baby for a walk with you the baby has to be in a special transport mobile. Also, the nurses instructed my sister on how much the baby should be eating on the nicu. She’s in her room feeding her baby and another nurse comes in and freaks out telling her she’s feeding the baby too much! My sister informed the nurse that’s what she was informed to do and the nurse said they over feed the babies in the NICU. Also, my sisters boyfriend was with my sister throughout the entire process!! They didn’t offer him food or towels to shower nothing!!! Definitely didn’t like this hospital!! Somerset was wonderful, as well as St. Peter’s

if i can give a half a star i would. i was seen in the ER and presented multiple issues with urinating, back pain and major headaches, an MRI was complete of my cervical, thoracic and lumbar area that poses issues in all areas but since i was medicated too much and gave the wrong answer to the neurologist it was deemed i was ok and discharged, and not too mention i was discharged with now more issue than i came in with because not only do i have to same symptoms i came in with i can add that my hand eye coordination is just about gone now, its a shame because i had multiple back surgeries there and now i don't know what to do about my condition and now the new ones.... thank you!

Hello to everyone. I heard a lot of positive comments, but I also heard a lot of negative comments and I am very scare about the negativity an complain people write in, because I'm not familiar with this Hospital. I only when two times for my mom pre- Admission testing, because she's going to have an open heart surgery in a few days. I hope my mom have the best 100% Services before and after her surgery. I pray that my mom doesn't have to be through a bad experience with this Hospital. My mom was referred by his cardiologist and we also lived far from RWJ hospital and we have to traveling every day. Maybe after my mom surgery and the experience we have we can make better comments.

Emily Wright

The hospital is horrible. The treatment of the patients is very good, but for the visitors that's another story. All I wanted to do was visit my father who just had a tumor on his spine removed. But since it was "flu season" I couldn't visit his room because I'm 15. Contrary to most beliefs, they said kids aren't allowed but a man with the flu would be allowed into an area where people with fragile immune systems are located. Who's idea was that? It's a lot easier to get the flu if you are sick and your IVs are being changed and someone with the flu touched your bed tray or went by the nurses station and sneezed. The influenza virus would be everywhere. I got my shot, so did the rest of my family. How would I get sick? Unless the shot is useless. How is a child who got the shot in more danger of getting the virus then a man who didn't? The entire system is unfair and there is no nexus connecting the ideas. All I wanted to do was visit my father and i couldn't because of their awful service with the visitors. Also shoutout to the extremely unprofessional and inappropriate nurse that yelled at my mother when she asked if there was anyway for see our critically ill father. There was no large signs or memos saying that kids couldn't enter. The only sign was a piece of paper by the cafe. It was mostly in Spanish. I wish for this situation to be resolved.

Nurses and staff here have always been excellent and attentive in the ER. They have put a smile on my face when I was miserable. Doctors are okay. I've always been satisfied with my care at this location especially with the ER.

G.G Ramirez

This place is not good at all. Long wait time for the ER and they take forever to do simple processes such as triaging the patient. The work flow is very slow and nurses are not equipped with the knowledge nor the attitude to help out.

Onsaya Jackson

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE place!!!!!! The GI DOCTOR IS COMPLETELY IGNORANT AND DISRESPECTFUL TO patients.. Some of the doctors are nice BUT the GI doctor is horrible. His name is Dr. Botro. I have never experienced what I experience with him a day in my life.. he needs his license revoked because he does not show compassion, empathy or consideration for what ppl are feeling and going through DEALING in his (medical profession)..

Beyond my wife’s surgeon and perhaps 4 high quality nurses the quality of care leaves much to be desired. I’m writing this after a 9 night stay. I would never leave a family member there unattended mind you this is the 6th floor cancer care. I had no confidence in the staff and when we had great nurse ( Xavier , Kay, Crystal, Dara ) I had to advacate for them to be assigned to my wife for their next shift. There is clearly no continuity of care. The night staff is clearly stretched thin and some will tell you so off the record. They are unapproachable and make know by there reaction that your bothering them. Once again this is a dedicated cancer floor. I guess I should wait until my wife is almost passed out before requesting her pain medication. I waited 19 minutes before pacing the floor to get help. I was told by one nurse that her back hurt that the patient would have to go from the reclyner to the bed for her to draw blood. My wife has a 10 nich incision in her abdomen. It’s unfortunate to lump some good people into this review but you have to wonder if this is the best cancer hospital NJ has to offer do you want to take a chance. We loved our surgical gynecologist oncologist ( dr Eugenia Girda and Lorna Rodriguez ) but with such sub par hospital care you really need to consider all options. I apologize to the nurses mentioned above and tech (Cynthia ) that you are part of what seems to be a disfunctial management approach to continuity of patient care. Bottom line here is if you’re going to have a love one as a patient they offer you a bed to stay I suggest you don’t leave you stay there 24 seven and advocate strongly for that person.

Our family had to endure this institution for three days. The experience has been draining and frustrating. The negligence afforded us seems to be the norm for this hospital, considering how others around us were being treated. My 78 year old mother is a heart paitent. She was admitted to the hospital on Thursday December 2nd. From Saturday to Sunday, For 24 hours they could not get a physician to attend to her??? They kept paging the doctor and no reponse for an entire day. Her blood work had been completed but there was no staff there to evaluate the reuslts. Keep in mind for the heart patient, this should have been addredd immediatley. Delay of treatment is a case for malparctice . Furthermore, keeping the patient in the hospital, to generate extra revenue is a serios offence. Robert Wood should be aware of this having paid 6.35 Million in a lawsuit in 2010. In the TCU, we had a nurse, (a redhead but do not recall the name), she would not even acknowlege us. She was busy shopping online and could not be bothered. This appears to be the mantra for this hopsital. Neglect and overbill. Rest assured we will make sure this institution is held accountable for its negligence.

Didn't kill me during birth, good enough. Haven't been here since I was a few days old, but thanks for putting up with my explosive screaming mom. Can't say the results of the process were great years later, but thank you for not turning my birth into a murder.

Gliknis Ortiz

Not a good patient experience. We were discharged with no follow up support from a case worker or social worker to assist in setting up home care. I waited 7 minutes and 56 seconds to get an operator when I called the main hospital number the following day. The operator transferred me to the appropriate department only to get a recording asking me to leave a message. However, the message box is full so you can’t leave a message. We haven’t even received a follow up call from the hospital to check in. This is for someone that was treated for a spinal cord injury. I’m surprised and a little disappointed in the poor quality services we received at what is supposed to be such a prestigious health care facility.

Stranger Things

Do not go to here for psychiatric emergencies, go to Centrastate instead. The social worker ("Dave") only asked one question, he misunderstood my answer and they wouldn't allow us to leave. He asked me "On a scale of 1 to 10 how severe is your depression?" I responded 10 and therfore they said I was a suicide risk and not allowed to leave.I asked for a patient advocate and was flat out refused. I was told that the police will be called if I tried to leave.

If I could give 0 stars I would ! This Hospital has gotten so bad! Ive been a patient at Robert Wood for over 10 years. 8 Tower to be exact! The nurses are very lazy and unprofessional! They’ve hired a bunch of new staff and since then that floor has been all over the place. I will be reaching out to patient experience soon.

ellie rubi

I took my kid to this hospital, worse experience ever, very incompetent doctors, my daughter couldn't walk she kept falling and her heart rate was very fast, a couple of litters of saline and she was dismissed, and they told me that she was dehydrated and needed to drink a lot of water, which I told them that she drinks a lot and how much more she should drink?? .her problem didn't go away she couldn't walk still, then I took her back to her regular pediatrician she send us to the ENT ended up that she had Benign Vestibular Vertigo.

ER is a war zone. Nurses complaining there too busy to care for patients equally. Left my wife laying in a hallway for over 20 hours waiting on a STAT MRI ordered by Chief of neurosurgery. Their Billing department is terrible always billing wrong insurance and donthey care!? NOPE.

Randall Throckmorton

Wasted 3 hours here because Yvette in Dentistry told us one thing on the phone and another when we got there. Let us sit for 3 hours before telling us they wouldn't accomodate us. Very unprofessional. If you deal with this liar, make sure you document everything or record the call if you can. I will not be returning to this place under my own cognizance ever again.

Melinda Malave

I have a daughter in oral pain and have literally been calling nonstop now for 3 hours and no one picks up the phone..just keeps on saying all receptionist are busy...horrible customer service and the doctors that work there should care about this.

2009 REVIEW: maternity ward : took my newborn away and placed her in NICU but found no problem with her. Then they changed her to a new room without informing us and we panicked trying to look for our newborn. Since my daughter was wrongly placed in the NICU she had to undergo all the daily tests ... needle in the heel etc. but there was no reason to place her in NICU it was done to get more money from my insurance.she placed in NICU for 10 days. We were trying to get her removed from the NICU but they wouldn’t release her because they told me I was a new mom and didn’t know how to feed her. They were trying to psychologically upset me but I’m a logical person and didn’t fall for it. also they kept me in the hospital for 5 days for a c section and I didn’t need to stay that long. It’s all about getting extra money from insurance. Also a neonatologist came to speak to mother and never saw my daughter and charged my insurance . How can this dr take money from my insurance he never did a check up on my newborn. This is terrible I hope it’s not like this anymore. Very bad and immoral taking money like this for services not needed or performed.

Arun Kumar

Swift check in. Pleasant staff. Efficient and clean. If this wasn't a hospital I'd say that I would be happy to come back. Thanks rwj.

Blood donation center sucks. 1.5 stars Receptionist is never at her desk so she's never able to answer the phone. I had to call multiple times a day for 3 days to make my appointment. I tried every extension possible in attempt to reach someone. I eventually got it. It took an hr and 45 minutes for my donation to start my donation even though I was on time for my appointment. They started a guy with a much later appointment before me because he just strolled back there while the receptionist was out getting her breakfast. He planned to check in with her but she wasn't there as per usual. During the donation she was constantly in the back i.e. not at her desk answering phones. They were totally overbooked, the nurses were scrambling around trying there best to stay on top of everything. But the nurses were all very nice. Totally poor and ridiculous experience.

I just delivered my baby and I want to give the team at labor and delivery a huge shoutout the entire team was patient and helped me through the process. One person I will never forget is Melinda. I wish I had her last name but I will find out. She was amazing talking me through everything and keeping me calm the entire time and helping delivery my baby. I will never forget her.

I was waiting a whole year for this hospital to post an ad for a financial counseling. I finally saw a few vacant positions. I applied with experience, with references, and 1 reference from their Somerville site. The following day my application was rejected. Please don't post ad's if your not interested in hiring people, it's very misleading.

Dining services is inefficient and rude. My father's breakfast wasn't brought till past 10 am. Ordered his lunch at the same time(10.10am) I called to find out what the hold was and requested it be delivered at 2pm. As at 4.40pm, he still hadn't gotten said lunch. Guy whom I spoke with over there to ask why was rude and raising his voice saying computers went down about one hour ago. Room is also left in insanitary as they only take out trash and clean commodes "at end of shift" leaving patient in filth and at family's mercy.

David Yang

Ok

This hospital is disgraceful. They have all this money to build new unnecessary extensions etc. but they pay their techs minimum wage, which is under $9 here in NJ. They also treat their patients like dirt. I went to RWJ ER right after having a seizure and asked if, after they do my vitals, I could touch base with a neurologist. They completely dismissed my request and said "A neurologist will not see you unless you are currently having a stroke or seizure" (again, I had just had one - my pulse was almost 130 and my hands weren't working... I guess that's not enough). After being told this, I walked out from triage. I was never seen by a doctor or properly discharged. However, I did get billed by a doctor "Punjabi". I paid for $130 for the visit but they wanted an additional $132 for a doctor, that I never saw, and now it is in collections and my credit has been skewed. I also know an individual who caught infections from RWJ and it was the ending for them. Would not recommend.

micaela santos

Walk in with pain on my hand due to big cut from power wash... I was told “it’s not infected doesn’t look too infected” WTF does this mean So it is a little bit?!? They want ur money and ask for next person so they can be on their phone.

archil shah

The medical service is really good and quick. The nurses are also very responsive and caring. However, the reason for me giving 4 stars is that the Receptionists, no matter are good in what they are doing, are a bit rude.

Brock Landers

This place is just pure evil with rude defensive doctors

Mackenzie Ross

One nurse that is outstanding and she is my older cousin, but I like to call her my sister. She works on the Medical Intensive Care Unit and Labor and Delivery. Her name is Jackie, her nickname is Jack. She is an awesome nurse, just like her aunt who is a nurse herself. Jackie takes after her aunt. She is also the best cousin ever in the whole wide world.

Kenya Robinsons

I've worked here for 3 year's not from transferring. The staff is very knowledgeable working here feel's like home I've all ways had passion in being a nurse even since I was young. and the know the boss's are sweet the mr's and nurse's really care about there patience's leaves me with such good energy.

Coll Wallace

My doctors and nurses were wonderful, very attentive. My only problem is with housekeeping, while I was in surgery they cleaned my room and threw away my dentures, while the hospital claimed responsibility and said they would pay for a new pair ,all my phone calls are now going unanswered for the last month and a half .l have now been without teeth for over 2 months.

Liz Rolon

It’s my first time here at this hospital. I’m so glad my children’s dentist is affiliated w this medical center. My son had oral surgery and from the time we walked in the entrance the staff have been kind, caring and professional. The lady at the information desk stayed w me on the phone till I arrived at the entrance. I drove here from Mercer County and was a bit confused. All the nurses and medical staff from beginning to the end really made me feel comfortable and did everything to ensure my son w special needs remained calm. I strongly recommend RWJ University Hospital. Thank you all!

LEE TV

Horrible pain mgmt . Under medicated me , I had 6 broke ribs , punctured lung , broke wrist . Warning you up front

ALISON PERNELL

HORRIBLE SERVICE. WAITING ROOMS OVER CROWDED. NURSES AND PA's NONCHALANT AND UNCARING. Sister has breast cancer was rushed om experiencing shortness of breath and has gone almost 4 whole hours without seeing a doctor, having blood drawn NOTHING and yet they claim to be concerned over possible blood clots. SHAME!

Rikki Wosnik

Quality care and very nice nurses.

Wura

Loved this hospital. Kind doctors, had a rude experience with the reception in the dentist facility on one occasion but it in the past.

Christina Ruiz

This is the worst experience in health care I have ever received. I was admitted yesterday at 730am for a car accident. They ordered Xrays and a CT scan and found a hairline fracture, I also had numbness and tingling in my arm n leg. They ended up giving me 6 Xrays, I refused ghee other 4 they wanted, they did an MRI of my entire body, then after giving me 2 CT scans they did a third of my entire body with contrast. I am still here 24 hours after they finished all of these tests plus 2 sonogram of the same place.. And I am disgusted that they never once fed me, they treated me like a prisoner and even after I cleared all my tests they kept me over night and I am still here waiting to be cleared.. This is the worst hospital experience ever.

Semeon Arthamonov

Me and my wife have visited the ER in January 2018. Doctors were ok, equipment was new, and in the end of the day the diagnosis was correct. However, I had a very unpleasant experience with their billing department. I am updating my review to 4/5 after I have finally received my refund. At the discharge we have provided a hard copy of our insurance card and documents with our address. They have entered all the information to the system and have confirmed to us that the policy number is correct. We have paid our coinsurance and deductible right there at the same time. In three months we have received a “Notice of a past due balance” for over $7K. Not only they have lost the insurance information, but they have also been sending all mail to the wrong address (with no apartment number). I have called them immediately to provide insurance number and correct the address in their system and thought that the story should be over. A month later I have received a “Final Notice” (again with no apartment number on the envelope) which required an immediate payment. So I have called the billing department again to find out that they still have no insurance information on file. I have provided the insurance number again. In a couple months received an Explanation of Benefits letter from my insurance company from which it followed that I have overpaid $60 for my portion. For another few months I have been waiting for a refund and called billing department a few times. Each time I was told that they still argue with an insurance about the discount they provide by an agreement between hospital and my insurance company. Also, each time I have asked them to double check that they have my correct address on file. Now in the Fall 2018 I have received another “Final Notice” (sent again at the wrong address with no apartment number) that the remaining $150 which they were negotiating with an insurance is actually my responsibility and I have to pay it immediately. In a few months after I have faxed my EOB letter from the insurance company they have finally settled remaining balance with the insurance company and issued a $72 refund. Overall it took almost a year and a number of calls to customer service to clear things up.

Most of my friends that went in came out dead!! This is a teaching hospital so whoever is available is who you get!! The floors were so dirty and they didn't even have enough rooms for their paitents in the ER you have to wait and wait....

Mikee535

Visiting a cancer patient here and some of the staff is so unprofessional. Some of the nurses are rude. If you can't catch the doctor to talk about the patients situation you are out of luck. St Peters is so much better. Then when I was there last night visiting I got comfortable in the room and put my foot up on the base of the bed. This nurse comes in and is adjusting the bed and she hits this button that hydraulically lowers the bed almost crushing my ankle if I didn't pull it out a second later. When I told her what almost happened she ran out of the room! This place is crazy, everyone is overworked. I would go elsewhere.

Lisa Palmeri

Since the merge this hospital had gone down hill. All sparkles and clean but the service sucks. I've been in and out of the hospital my entire life with medical issues. Since this merger i feel that this hospital went from being one of the best to one of the worst.

Karen Harrison

Robert wood needs to be shut down. I had a horrible experience there on July 10, 2018 where I was held hostage there for three hours for no reason. I now have PTSD. They are nothing but murderers and scam artists.

Catherine Velasquez

i recently had an eye surgery last month and i went to Robert Wood. the staff was great and very welcoming. I didn't wait long before i was registered and ready to go in to surgery. My surgeon Dr. Napolitano was great and very reassuring as well as his team. Thanks to him and the staff my eyes are now better than ever! I'm very grateful for the treatment i received at the hospital with Dr. Napolitano and his team. God Bless you guys!

I took my daughter there last Saturday for fever, vomitting, coughing, nauseous more than 2days. The Doctor said " no need for fluids or testing, its more viral opposed to bacterial(upper respiratory infection) she does have a low grade fever ( which the tech didn't even put the therometer under her tongue

Lillian Lopez

In 2005 I was admitted with cancer. Not knowing exactly what was happening after being admitted to previous hospitals and not given exact details, the doctors and nurses took control over me. They ran tests immediately and it was at Stage 4 Lymphoma. The doctors and nurses worked together and I never doubted them. It's 2017 and I am cancer free. I would recommend this hospital to anyone who has cancer. They were polite courteous, respectful to my needs. I was there from September to December 2005.

Danielle Misurella

BEWARE AND BE CAREFUL! I had a prescheduled c-section in which the hospital called me two days before and demanded 5k or they would cancel on me, it was not a pleasant experience on the phone (the lady was not overly nice or understanding but her supervisor was quite rude and stated I had to pay in full ahead of time or no c-section). I paid half of what they demanded as that is what I had at the time after pleading with them for quite some time, she gave me maybe an hour or so to come up with the funds (as I wanted to see what the actual bill and cost would be before I forked over the money since it was a decent amount and I knew I would still owe for my daughter, the doctors etc.). The hospital knew this was scheduled months in advance but they thought calling a woman who was VERY pregnant and almost due to shake her down in a not nice way was appropriate to get what they called THEIR money. Then I never received the bill and still have not when I gave birth in May and it is now December. Only to find out I overpaid per insurance, which RWJ has even confirmed when I had to call them countless times. I been contacting the administrative staff/billing staff for months regarding the credit (as far back in August). They said recently I received the large credit some time last month, but I have not (I have even checked with bank which says the same) and someone would call me back to figure this out, but every time I call they say the same thing and NO ONE calls me is that apologetic or even cares. If I owed them money I would be in collections by now but they feel they can just not pay me. They just apparently plan on keeping my money and not helping me or calling me and assisting me anyways. I will do anything to avoid going to this hospital if I can, the only way I would have another child or procedure there is if I had no choice and was not able to decide, that is brought in, in an ambulance (but lets hope that is not the case). Again BE CAREFUL and BE AWARE that they don't care about taking your money and not giving it back!!!

Ray Gonzalez

WARNING, STAY AWAY! . By far the worst Hospital that I have ever visited, waited 7 hours, they did absolutely nothing, and the Doctor was UNPROFESSIONAL, CHILDISH , and extremely RUDE. (Dr. Michael Mirza) is his name. Looks like they're more interested in the money than the health of the patients, as if it's like a joke.. It truly was a waste of money and time, I would never recommend this Hospital to anyone.

Michael Cianci

This place is totally useless and should be shut down. The valet attendants were the only good thing affiliated with this building

Lisa Lionheart

As a seven-time, top-ranking hospital according to U.S. News & World Report, you would expect Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital's rules and practices to reflect the most current scientific literature pertaining to patient and family-centered care. This is certainly not the case, however, as RWJ's antiquated visiting policy inappropriately denies patients access to familial and companionate support after hours. Restrictive hospital visiting policies interfere with a patient's right to care and advocacy during their most vulnerable times. Research suggests that outdated visiting policies not only contribute to emotional suffering for patients and loved ones, but also place patients at a greater risk of receiving inconsistent medical care and treatment errors. Several studies have demonstrated a positive link between open visiting hours and patient outcomes, yet many hospitals still impose visiting restrictions due to unsubstantiated beliefs that visitors increase cardiovascular arousal in patients, spread diseases, and impede staff’s ability to adequately care for patients. RWJ claims to believe in a “family-centered approach to healing,” but the hospital’s actions do little to foster a collaborative care plan between hospital staff and the patient’s personal support team. RWJ’s website serves as a reminder of this fact through language that reduces a patient’s family to mere visitors who must respect hospital policies pertaining to visiting privileges. Any hospital or entity that regards patient companionship and advocacy as a privilege instead of a basic human right should be immediately called into question. No human should ever be forced to suffer or die alone—as is the case when an RWJ patient happens to die between the hours of 9pm and 10am when visitation is prohibited—and no family member should ever be forced to leave their loved one’s side. Your loved one has a right to emotional support and companionship while in the care of RWJ and you have the right to advocate for your loved one. "To make our patients' experience as positive and caring as possible, a designated family member or loved one is welcome to be present with the patient 24 hours a day." -- The Johns Hopkins Hospital "Visiting hours at Cleveland Clinic main campus are 24 hours a day, 7 days a week." -- Cleveland Clinic "Visiting hours at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center are determined by the patient. If the patient wishes, visitors and families are welcome 24 hours a day." -- UCLA Medical Center

Worst possible hospital experience of my life, way to much to elaborate, I would have been better off literally anywhere else

Kumari Kanda

Really great hospital.my mom came last month for seizure attack.the doctors nurses they try to great for my mom.if its more than 5 star i give for robert wood Johnson hospital.so great staff, very friendly and taking care great for patients. Highly recommended new Brunswick!!!!!

Miriam Walker

Went to er had trouble breathing, had the best care. People should stop complaining these doctors, nurses, etc. Work hard it's not an easy job. I Thank each and every one of the workers in the hospital even the kitchen workers the house keeping etc. My nurse Lindsey Setaro was so kind attentive, a Gem . THANK YOU AGAIN RWJUH GOD BLESS

Ana J

I delivered my baby here and would not recommend it. The nurses woke me up just about every hour coming in and out of my room. I got zero rest and zero private time with my little family. They also kept bullying me to use formula instead of breast feeding to the point the lactation consultant had to tell them to leave as they were using scare tactics. Appealing to say the least and great added to my post partum depression. Their ER is much better though I was told they should have operated on my broken foot as soon as I walked in and instead they just splinted it. My foot has been broken 6 months! The pediatric ER, which we only used once, was quick and very compassionate.

I apologize for the novel I am about to write but I feel compelled to write this and I never write bad reviews! I am completely disgusted by my husband’s experience in the e.r. Of Robert wood johnson hospital. First of all my husband is a life long patient of RWJ his family are patients he is and was a New Brunswick guy. He had brain surgery in this exact hospital a few months ago & was in their E.R. Three since September. Today at 10am my husband got into a car accident while he was working (he drives for work). The reason he crashed head on into a truck & totaled his car is because he was unaware and dazed over due to tremor like episodes that he experiences all the time for at least 3 years. This exact hospital promised him after his surgery that his hormones would level out and he would stop having these episodes. They also took him off of anti convulsants very abruptly as well. Well they didn’t stop happening- they actually got worse. We’ve been to neurologists, endocrinologist, primary etc. multiple times because of the insurance company the doctor can not release the testosterone that he needs to function properly. The endocrinologist told him at the last appointment to go to the hospital and have them treat you because they have to since you’re experiencing tremors. We have videos and proof of all of this. Today we met with the triage nurse and informed her of the accident . His hand and wrist were clearly bruised and swollen and he wasn’t feeling well. We explained that he lost awareness and doesn’t remember the accident. When she heard it was head on she immediately called for trauma unit and rushed us down stairs. We explained all of that again to the doctors there. We felt that they were immediately ignoring that part of the situation, but they were being nice & gave him Tylenol. So than we go to x ray and cat scan went very smoothly. When we were transported upstairs to the Main ER is when things got ugly and dragged out. The nurse comes over after a while and says we see a few small things on the xrays but I don’t know what they are I’m not a doctor ... the only thing I know is that your wrist is broken. I’m thinking that’s a no brainer - he can’t use his arm at all. It took hours to even get registered and let them know it’s a workmen’s comp case as well. They left us in the hallway for 5 hours before a doctor even saw us. The doctor than comes over and this also one we met downstairs in trauma and says there is nothing wrong with you I mean you can get emitted or not that’s up to you but we can’t do anything. So I’m like really ?! I thought his wrist was broken? The doctor said no it’s not we can unwrap it. Than walks away and leaves us there again for 45 mins. In the mean time he has a woman come over to do a random ekg ... right as she’s about to push the button he yells over oh never mind he doesn’t need another one there is nothing wrong with the heart I found the paper work! I went to make a phone call and come back to find my husband frustrated and said they are going to discharge me. So I said good! We could have went to an actual orthopedic doctor instead of wasting seven hours here ! The nurse came over and had my husband sign papers.. he asked for this arm to be rewrapped as well because he knows something is wrong and it hurts. She was about to say okay just go to a primary and he begins having an episode right in front of her which I pointed out all the stages to her. She has the nerve to say well it’s not a seizure nothing is happening. In which I got up and argued with her. The doctor came over because I got loud and told me it’s his job to worry about the emergency he came here for not this issue. You know I respect the process but seriously maybe he can kill a pedestrian next time.

Erin Christie

I didn't realize this was about the actual hospital and not the specialized children's hospital until after I made my initial review. Oops.

Michele Schwsrtz

I’m I’m looking to get in touch with John Gantner or anyone who is on the board of trustees. Your hospital is filthy and you have no air-conditioning on the ninth floor . I was forced to sit in the hallway because of the heat after my surgery. I don’t think putting a $5 clip on fan on my bed is the answer. Also, now that I am home when you call a physician nobody calls you back . I came here because I thought you were the best. I read your ratings as a hospital have dropped to a B. I think perhaps you are on your way to dropping to a D. So very disappointed. If you aren’t sure what a good hospital looks like take a ride over and see Princeton medical center . You aren’t putting your patients first!!

Angel Ayes

Horrible place! Nurses and doctors in the E.R. will flat out refuse to address your heath concerns. My daughter is in the E.R. now and was ridiculed by the nurse for her concerns! It's a shame they used to have a good reputation. I don't know what happened to this place!

Ehan Bergeron

The staff was friendly, from nurses and doctors.

Edward Russo

This hospital has some very good doctors but is an absolute nightmare administratively. One department has difficulty communicating with another. And that is just within the SAME group of doctors! Just phoned the lab to obtain blood test results from 2 days ago which I was told would be available same day. Trying to sign in via their medconnect was an impossibility. Yesterday when phoning the main number for help I was given another number to call. Received voice mail, left message no call back. Upon phoning the lab was told they have nothing to do with medconnect. Then asked for the doctors number to fax the info to. I asked ‘don’t you have this info on file?’ Crickets. So I gave them the fax number and was told it would be sent within the hour. A patient should not need to jump through all these hoops to access info from a hospital with such an inept internal system.

Shaun Andrews

This is the absolute worst hospital that I have ever had to deal with, what has been done to my wife here is ridiculous.the level of incompetence here is amazing I think its run by the three stooges I have never seen a group of supposedly medical professionals pass off responsibility to each other in my life....horrible!!!!!

Jessica Gregory

This hospital recently revamped ER. All new equipment, rooms, and cleaner facility. Over all, a great improvement. HOWEVER, their customer services and care of their patients have greatly suffered. Previously, before the new updates the staff would attend to each patient. Even if this meant putting a stretcher in the hallway to address the patient. Now it is more of waiting game for the hospital and the staff now seems as if they are too good to care. Their bed side manners need to be revamped as well. Understandably as a CMA I know that every case isn't a true ER but forcing patients to wait while they scream in pain with tears is unacceptable.

This hospital has got to be the second worst hospital i ever been to (right after another one i been to in a 3rd world country). So i had a bicycle accident where i fell on concrete head first and bruised my face my arms and my legs, i was bleeding all over and had cuts everywhere I thought i was dying. I get rushed to this hospital, from the moment i stepped in there all they were trying to do is perform the least amount of checks possible and do the least amount of work necessary so they can empty my bed and on to the next one. I literally walked out of that place still bleeding with not as much as a band aid, all they did was “clean my wounds” perform a catscan and tell me to go home and put neosporin on it. I had a seizure that same night, turns out i had a concussion. If your life is in danger avoid going there please!

My mom came in with a broken leg and a couple of days after her leg surgery, she had a massive stroke and couldn’t move and hardly speak. She didn’t live many days after this. I give this hospital no stars because of the blood clot that was caused by the surgery as well as the nursing staff who we had to keep on top of for them to attend to my mom properly. I’m aware that her old age made her fragile, but in that case treat her like she is fragile. I would NOT recommend this hospital to anyone. I tried to give them no stars but the app made me give it at least 1 star.

Been sitting in emergency for over an hour with my child. Besides that I almost got assaulted as I held my baby by a teen who lost control after seeing a balloon my baby boy had. The Male security did not get up to help or call for help. Only a woman security help contain the teen. I ran back and forth to protect myself and my child. This is beyond ridiculous and irresponsible the lack of action taken by the staff to avoid a bad situation

Solie Kang

ER Resident made a rude comment about my medical history and that I “take too many drugs.” Disgusting behavior concerning that she doesn’t even specialize in the illnesses that I had. Nurses were super kind so they’re the only reason I left a star. The doctors are subpar.

Nick Purcell

Security guards are unprofessional, and show no compassion. June 24, 2017 I was there after visiting hours at 9:35 PM. Security guard entered in to my wifes room unannounced to say that visiting hours are over, and he has to ask everyone to start packing it in. I of course did so. The two issues that bothered me is that, I and my mother in law were waiting to speak with my wife's urology doctors that showed at 10:30 due to their busy schedules. The other issue is that a male security guard has no right to enter in to a female patient room. Proper protocol should be for that male guard to go to the nurse station, ask a nurse to make an announcment, then take further steps at the nurses' judgment. It is a hospital, not a prison. Most visitors there are already very sad that their loved one is hospitalized. We pay a lot of money in insurance and medical fees, for our loved ones to be treated.

Absolutely awesome place!! Very clean and organized I would recommend this facility to anyone. The service is superb !!

Robert Wood Johnson hospital in New Brunswick, NJ is not a hospital...it is a prison. Family members aren't allowed to visit their loved ones if it makes the nurses have to perform extra duties. They pump their patients full of tranquilizers and let them rot. The humanitarian aspect of this hospital is horrible since the only people the hospital care for are the staff and making their jobs as easy as possible. Correct me if I'm wrong, but a hospital is supposed to be a peaceful place with unlocked doors and no security guards who treat visitors as criminals, ie standing by you and your loved one during a visit. This is a violation of a patient's right to privacy. Another reason to avoid RWJ hospital is their bedside manner. Any patient who asks the staff for anything is treated as a nuisance and as if they aren't important. They hold people against their will when they haven't been committed or brought in under arrest. If you have no insurance you're treated as not important and are put on a waiting list for a comfortable bed and room to sleep in. This leaves the patient in an uncomfortable cold ER with no privacy for days at a time, no shower, no private toilet and staff who seem to enjoy torturing their patients by over medication and revoking their visitation "privileges". There are no hospitals who restrict family visitation anymore, it is deemed detrimental to a patient's recovery since it hurts the patient and family. The best thing a family can do is hire a lawyer to get their loved one out of RWJ and into a real hospital that cares about the patient more than the staff's comfort. RWJ should be shut down. If you were treated poorly by RWJ I recommend you don't pay the bill.

My mom went on to the cardiologist on Thursday and he sent her to the emergency room. My mom had a nuclear stress done on Saturday morning and they had the results at 1pm. No doctor ever came to see us. The nurse said they will page the doctor. The nurse said no Resident is responding to the page. Forward to 930pm tonight and still no doctor came to see us. They finally came and put my mom in a room Saturday night at 9:30pm and she was admitted into the hospital at 3pm on Friday. She was in TCU from Thursday night till Saturday 9:30pm. My whole family is very upset. My mother could have been discharged today. Plus my sister had to deal with a rude nurse practitioner. I never post any reviews but it is 2am and I am very upset that my mom had to stay another night at the hospital for no reason and no doctor to give us the results. It is really ridiculous. The worst hospital ever!!

Worst hospital I’ve ever dealt with

Rick Armistead

Once great hospital has gone completely downhill. Communication between care team members is terrible and communication between doctors and family members/patient is almost non-existent. The patient is treated as a number or a piece of meat and not a person. Really disgusted to the point that I'm encouraging my father to break his 20+ year relationship with his cardiologist so we never have to go back to RWJ. I can't even find words to express my frustration and disgust for this hospital.

Overbooking is a high problem inN Brunswick. The worst experience I have ever had. Never would Recommend. Never will come here again.

Good place to meet up with you

My dad was taken to the ER where I found the staff to be extremely unfriendly. We had to wait for an hour to get IV, they said they dont have any in the hospital and are waiting for it. You ask for something and they have to remind them again to get it. My dad had to been admitted to St. Peters last year for a similar problem and we had no issues. The staff there was extremely helpful and always ready to make the patients and their family at ease.

This place is ridiculous. My father was admitted to the E.R.at 6:00am in New Brunswick.I am a very patient person,I live in Atlanta and need an update on his condition.Started calling at 9:00am.Throughout the day I got put on hold 16 times for 20-45mins every time. Got transferred 12 times, got cut off 3 times. My 86 yr old father refuses to carry a cell phone,so I can't find out anything directly from him until I can get up there. It's now coming up on 4:00pm,I've got transferred to 7 didn't people now and I still know NOTHING about his status.AND I AM STILL SITTING ON HOLD!

Professional and knowledgeable. If you have to go to the hospital, it usually isn't fun. Make it as painless, safe, and fast as possible. Excellent hospital!

Tyhesha Lett

Worst ER visits I was put in a room with three other people, also it was blood on the seats in the waiting area. For this to be a hospital it's not clean and it's over crowded. Never coming back here again

There might be good doctors there. But it's sad to say the management is horrible, this place is very frustrating to deal with and is a total chaos. It's almost impossible to find out any info. You have to spend a lot of time figuring out what's happening and/or reach to the right person and more often than not this is not possible. We went to the radiology department, the lady in that department tried to reach out to the RWJ doctor to clarify the mismatched prescription and she can't reach anyone. The radiologist had to guess what the doctor wanted. In another case, another lady was requesting a report for my family within RWJ and it took a few hours to find out the other side's fax machine doesn't work. We were standing by the fax machine wasting hours for that report to be faxed over. We also used the homeware nursing and RWJ sent a nurse who doesn't know how to replace ostomy bags properly. Every time she replaced, it leaked a few hours later and I had to spend hours cleaning up. I complained to RWJ a few times and asked for a different nurse. They sent the same one back along with a "specialist" to my home asking what the problems are. Then they said since I know how to replace the ostomy bags myself, there's no need for sending nurses. They don't care what happened. I also asked RWJ homecare for the numbers to order supplies and the response is they don't know, which is not true. I'm glad we have switched to another hospital and saved lot of frustration and time.

I came to the emergency room with my mother who has dementia. I am her caregiver. Upon checking into the ER, the triage nurse called my mother in to triage her visit. I started to tell the triage nurse that my mother has dementia, and I wanted to make her aware that she had fallen and possibly lost consciousness for a few minutes. The nurse, Crisal, continued to direct her questions at my mother who was answering them wrong due to her dementia and she would not listen to me at all. In fact, she even raised her voice while she continued to direct her questions to my mother. I voiced my concern with Crisal, and she basically just shrugged her shoulders at my concern. When people enter the ER in a wheelchair the nurses should be asking if the person they are with is a caregiver. I have POA, and her rudeness was unprofessional at best. It wasn't until she asked about my mother's medications that she finally looked at me for an answer, because my mother said she wasn't taking any medications. She is in fact taking several medications. Very disappointed at the triage department in the ER as well as the length of time spent in the ER itself. After spending ten plus hours in the ER a doctor came in and said they were going to keep my mother for a few days because it will allow her to get additional services from Medicare. I would not have stayed for the ten hours if I knew it was their intent to keep her. Additionally, she did not need to stay extra days. If they had directed their questions to me-the caregiver-they would have had the right answers from the start. Very disappointed with this visit.

Hello, I was in the ER/admitted from 10/09/18-10/11/18. I just wanted to say thank you to all the RN and CCT that took care of me, despite being extremely busy with other patients one way or another always found a way to come back and check on me and make sure I was allright, from the ER Geisha/Milena and another gentleman that took care of me when I arrived I can’t remember his name. To David the super CCT. ( David might know the other gentleman’s name). To the 5Tower RN Geneiveve and others that took care of me! Great one of a kind service from all RN, CCT,Doctors and students! Great work and keep it going!

I went in for surgery and from the door it was a great experience. The staff got me registered in a heartbeat, the nurses and other staff were amazing and so respectful, considerate and courteous. They answered questions, were reassuring and supportive of my concerns. The doctors were great, the recovery and the time spent on the floor. The nurses were on the floor were amazing with the exception of the one night nurse, but the other attendants at night made up for that. Overall, I have to say it was like a well oiled machine, everyone knew and did their jobs well and made me feel as if I was the only patient there. I am making this my hospital for all services I may need in the future.

This review is not based on this specific location but rather their horrendous billing department and truly unprofessional practices. I have been having issues with their billing department for years now. Every time I get my annual physical done, RWJ decides to send me a bill for it, even though it's fully covered 100%. They keep on sending me bills even though I call them and tell them it's covered and to check with my insurance company and yet, they keep sending the bills. Most recently this past summer, I had to get a test done and I dealt with a very nasty and unprofessional individual and even with that test, their billing department screwed up and billed me for the wrong test. I called a so called manager who literally did nothing, ignored my calls for well over a month and refused to call me back. I have complained to RWJ's main office and heard nothing, absolutely nothing back. To me, this is the worst experience I have ever had when dealing with a billing department. I don't know how I can call and complain consistently for a few months, speak to someone a few times, hear nothing back, and still get sent the wrong bills and even bills I'm not responsible to pay. Absolutely ridiculous, unethical and unprofessional. Be very careful when dealing with this hospital and their billing department as they have proven to absolutely not care about their patients and you will be flat out be ignored like I was when trying to resolve the issue. The person I was dealing with refused, absolutely refused to call me back. I know this because I called a few times and she answered the phone and that told me she was just ignoring me and didn't want to be bothered. I received no calls, emails....NOTHING to help resolve my case and explain why I kept getting billed in error. Will never tolerate this again and will be ultra careful when dealing with this hospital in the future.

Terrible nursing in the hospital, surgery was supposed to be four hours wound up being 8 ! Maybe not Doctors Fault but it still happened, then sent me to recover in the hospital and nursing staff is horrible!!! Took me off my pain medication because my chart still said 4 hour and not the major surgery they just did on me, needless to say I was in major pain. After 6 hour in pain my surgeon finally showed up and said OMG who took you off the pain meds??

Kristina N.

I was hospitalized here for a week last December. From the moment I walked in to the ER to my discharge a week later the majority of the staff were super helpful and attentive. The ER was crazy busy and I was originally put in a bed in the hallway which was not comfortable, but I was transferred to a real room within a few hours of arriving. The neurology resident in charge of my care was slow to issue prescriptions, but the nurses were fantastic and followed up with him throughout the day until I had everything I needed to be comfortable (or as comfortable as you can be while in hospital with someone waking you up every night at 4 am to jab you in the arm and steal your blood). Only other downside is that food services are not 24/7 which was a challenge for me since I was on medication that made me really hungry ALL THE TIME. The nurses were great about finding me extra puddings or cookies in the middle of the night!

On April 14th I was taken to RWJ by ambulance because of chest pains. Once in the ER they placed in a cubicle. Waiting for the Doctors to reach my primary Doctor so he could give the OK wo the attending Physician in the ER for me to be admitted. While waiting I observed a Male Nurse working to help this elderly woman. What a pleasure to see him in action. He talked to Her as if she was his grandmother. Show respect, caring for all her needs and talked with her with patients. Next I saw him helping another patients family who was a mess. He calmed her down. Lastly, a woman patient was taken in my cubicle who supposedly had seizures. Three nurses plus two Doctors tried to get blood. This patient was out of control but they all treated her with proper care. Again the Male Nurse was extremely patient with this lady. My observation of this patient she was looking for attention. I am not a Doctor so what do I know. By the way this Male Nurses Names is Ryan. All in all My stay was an experience not to forget. After a long day in the ER I was finally admitted to the Tower Four. WOW what a great group. The Nurse Dana made me feel welcome and explained everything to me. She was very professional, caring and giving. RWJ Management must be or should I say have to be proud of your staff. Keep up the good work in helping people like me. Thank you. God Bless. Peace to all. Joseph L Sabella

Great hospital and amazing staff. Thank you for taking care of my dad , we love you guys.

Louise Simmons (RN) in nursing and delivery unit in the loft who does the NST for RWJ was very rude and condescending I don't know what happened in her personal life to make her so miserable but she oozes negativity and clearly hates her job. Update: I will not be calling. I said what I said in my review. It is your job to handle it. What's the point of calling some pointless number?

Keisha Teaymon

This hospital has poor services to their patients especially 9 tower their nurse Jessica is so lazy n such a big liar. While I was in recovery a nurse told me no I couldn't have water to swallow my pill being that I was going up to my room actually the pill didn't go down the right way can't believe I was denied water.. When u ask a nurse or tech for something it takes them awhile to bring it back to u then once u mention it to them again there response would be oh I'm so sorry let me get it now..

I have been at this hospital five time. Starting with a brain anurysm that I had June 11,2017 since then I have had five brain surgeries the nursers and my sergeon Dr Gupta and were great, Thrust me I spent a lot of time at this hospital. Please forgive words that are mispelled thanks.

Rosie A

I would like to thank everyone from same day surgery unit. Everyone was kind, courteous and friendly. Your attention is very much appreciated.

I have been here for several days now coming in through the emergency room, I am very pleased with the speed and quality of the services performed here, And the facilities are nice, although there is a bit of crowdedness due to the upgrades currently being implemented, the hospital overall has a high standard of care that I deeply appreciate. Once I was moved up from the ER I was tended very diligently by the staff and always told that if I need anything just to ask.

Catalina Henao

My husband went to the ER on April 07 and he was having difficulty to breathe besides other issues. We waited about two hours before someone provided oxygen for him, 3 different doctors gave different prognostic, there were several hospital beds all over the halls blocking the way, we decided to just leave and they took about 3 hours to give us the release form. My husband really desperate just pulled his ivy out because no one was coming. The service is horrible and you don’t see a nurse anywhere. We spent 5 hours total and left without answers.

Three months ago I landed in the ER at RJW. While in the ER, I developed crushing chest pain and asked numerous medical staffers for an EKG. However, I was denied an EKG (and was told I was "overreacting" and to "lie down"). This is despite me explaining to multiple medical staffers that I have a condition that can give rise to various cardiac issues and that I have a family history of heart disease and other issues. Two days ago, I had another EKG (and a subsequent echo-cardiogram) at a different hospital... turns out I do indeed have a cardiac issue that RJW's emergency room could have diagnosed nearly 3 months ago... if they weren't too busy thinking that a 22-year-old female with severe chest pain and a family history of heart-disease was being histrionic. Lesson learned.

RWJ OB/GYN declined to schedule an appointment and plan my wife's pregnancy. I see 3 major problems in RWJ OB/GYN: 1) They have policy to do not take women on the 16th week. My wife has been going to another doctor, which was a partner of RWJ, and she did all needed tests and ultra-sounds. But my wife changed her work and we wanted to change our gynecologist because of the schedule. So we were told, that they can't take her because of the liability and doctors are too busy. We were able to wait needed time, do or re-do all needed tests, but they didn't want to hear anything. Is it even a legal policy, to decline to help pregnant women (on any week) with all records, with possibility to do all needed tests and who was previously their patient and patient of their partner? I will research this question with lawyer... 2) They do not schedule an appointment with in-active insurance. As my wife was changing her work, she was covered with insurance from the beginning, but her case was still inactive in the insurance system. So we had to wait one week. 3) I spent 4 hours of call tries and it is so hard to find all needed information in the web (called 7 times, some of them were just dropped on the middle and I had to say all information from the beginning). I do not recommend such place because of these 3 major issues.

I don't know why people are complaining! The staff is so wonderful . They work really hard to treat the patient and help them . If they are ignoring you , it's probably Because they are really busy ! It's a cancer hospital ! All the nurses were excellent and treated the patient amazing ! That's all I can ask for .
