By far the best care I have ever received from a hospital. The labor and delivery staff were absolutely incredible, and as I was there for a few days each rotation of nurses were equally as kind and compassionate as the ones before. Everything about the experience I had at Providence Hood River Hospital was absolutely wonderful from the second I walked through the door.

They went out of there way for me.

If you don't have a disposable income then don't visit this medical facility unless under threat of death. Even then... I was treated poorly by their ER receptionists, vastly overcharged (which I appealed and had reduced) and only received a referral to another doctor in another clinic - zero treatment. I moved here about 7 months ago for work and have found that the gorge doesn't have a good reputation for its emergency medical centers. I preferred Tillamooks Adventist Health and that's saying a lot. Find a good doctor and stick with them...

It's been almost 6 weeks since my accident it was my 1st experience at a hospital not in my home state. I was rescued by the EMS team in Hood River from the Eagle Creek Trail with a severe dislocation , R ankle fracture which later showed on a CT to have 5 fractures, and brought to Providence Hood River Hospital. Although I have worked as a Healthcare professional in many Hospitals over 40 years in the Chicago metro area working in many different capacities in healthcare, since retired 2 years ago. The Drs., Nurse Anesthetist, RN's, techs, and EMS team that rescued and took care of me were all very professional and understanding of what I needed to reduce any more damage to my ankle. My surgeon in Orthopaedics who specializes in foot and ankle surgery commented on the great job the Hood River Dr. did in manipulating my snkle back into position to avoid further damage. Thank you, thank you all for a job well done.

I took my daughter to the ER because she had a high fever for 5 days + other symptoms and all clinics were full. I was greeted by a very rude nurse who obviously didn't think we should be there. I will never in my life go to this hospital again.

My wife and I had a baby girl at Providence Hood River and were very pleasantly surprised by the staff and amount of attention we received. We were there for almost three days, so we got to meet several rotations of nurses and everyone was great. The trade-off of information from nurse to nurse was very good. The hospital is also very easy to navigate since it’s not a big city hospital complex, which helped alleviate some of the anxiety. Overall, I highly recommend.

When I worked there, they had staff. Working off the clock, working through breaks and lunches without pay, the majority of the housekeepers were hurt and they didn't give proper care. I am going to tell the whole truth and how I was treated on ripoff report, you would not believe what a Catholic/Christian based hospital will treat people. I also went there for poison oak, many times and the doctors do not know what it is. The last time I went Obama care was to be charge, but they hire people who can't do the job. The hospital charged me, never informed me but it shows on my credit. I got hurt on the job they are responsible for a lumbar sprain they don't pay for it I been told doctors can't look at my back without Providences permission. I can go on, read my report, nothing but the truth so help me GOD.

Worst hospital ever, speaks horrible on providence's name. My girlfriend was hospitalized here and she was abused, neglected and very mistreated for being life flight there off the mountain. Doctors were on drugs; incredibly rude staff and refused to listen to the patient's wishes

I have had to go to the ER a number of times to this hospital. It's totally a crap shoot as to how you'll get treated. The doctors and nurses on call could be really good or completely awful. Several times I was treated well enough, but I went in recently with an anaphylactic reaction - swelling in my mouth and my face and eyes. I didn't look pretty. The doctors were pretty good, but while I was in the cubicle alone a nurse (NOT the one who'd been working on my case) suddenly ripped open the curtain, stared at me and then coldly said, "I have to find something in here." She stepped behind me to a cabinet and started randomly shoving things around. Meanwhile she left the curtain completely open to anybody passing by. Behind her came a male nurse, a few seconds later. He looked me over and then joined the first nurse at the cabinet where they whispered and giggled. Not long after that a second male nurse joined them. Same thing. A long stare and then joining the others at the cabinet. Whisper whisper. Giggle giggle. After a few minutes of this the female nurse strides out of the cube without a word (and with nothing in her hands) nor a backward look, and leaving the curtain still wide open to the world. The male nurse followed her, just the same. Then finally, a few seconds after that, the second male nurse leaves, but he looks at me as he goes, looking as if he's about to burst into laughter. I scowled at him and snapped "Hey, can you please shut that curtain." He snickered. "Sorry" he says and pulls it shut before he goes. The doctors came back a while later from looking at tests and said they would just have me stay there awhile (they'd given me some IV steroids earlier) until the swelling started to go down. So I sat in that cube for awhile until they came and gave me the OK to leave. Those three nurses were sitting together at a nurses station I had to walk past to leave. All three of them looked at me and whispered and giggled at me as soon as they laid eyes on me. It was probably the single most unprofessional incident of treatment I've ever gotten from any kind of medical provider. Ever. I probably should have reported them right then and there. Instead, I'm doing this. I've had some good treatment at providence, but I (and numerous of my friends and family) have had enough garbage like this - and worse - happen that even though I live within 5 minutes of the joint, I'll be trying to do any needed "hospitalization" in The Dalles or White Salmon from now on.

The other night I took my son to the hood river hospital, mind you 30 min drive. He is three and was having a difficult time breathing. I called ahead on the way there made sure that they knew we were coming. When we get there, there is no one in the waiting room. I will also add only one person in the ER period. The ER receptionist, is asking me the normal questions that only hood river asks as " Protocol". As I'm trying to hold my deadweight body of my three year old the sounds like a dieing seal that cant breathe or cough right or talk and drink. My three year old trying to lay on the floor because he doesn't feel good and then proceeds to Dry heave and then throw up stomach acid all over himself and I. The receptionist is still being rude because I'm a trying to help my son and answer questions at the same time. Nobody helping us after he vomits everywhere. Mind you I got all the questions wrong because I'm standing in the middle of the ER door panicking while no one helps my three year old. Again I said no one was in the ER! Even when going to the next room the next gentleman doesn't seem to be pleased either to be at work. Is also very rude, I have to ask is this even an ER? The gentleman finally got on my same page that I was worried about my son. Then got us into the room where he could finally lay down and relax. The doctor was a lady, she seemed like she hated her job and didn't even want to be there. And was not nice to my son or us. Even when we asked for work papers for our employees she acted as if it was an Inconvenience for her. After getting my son treatment that I could not do at home. He was finally talking and singing and finally after 6 hours took his first drink of water. My son was breathing normal again. My son was better. I can not help but think that if my son was in any worse condition that he would not have survived with the lack of bedside manner hood river hospital provided. However, I do give a shot out to the chest xray gentleman and the shot steroids nurse. For Out standing behavior when it came toMy son. They treated him Respectfully with smiles and Encouragement to get their job done with an appropriate manner that did not involve making my son uncomfortable. Hood river is 30 min from my home. The next closest hospital is 50 mins to an hour depending on the time of the day. Next time my son is in a emergency I will drive to the farthest hospital in portland because the care there for a 3 year old is acted on right away. They don't ask you questions till they get your baby in the room and check him out. They take care of your son or daughter before anything bad Escalates. So I say myself if your young child is in need of immediate care take them to portland hospitals or Ohsu. They will take care of your baby first and foremost. Hood river is only okay if you are a adult and can address your own situation. They was a second last night where I thought I was going to lose my baby boy with special needs because hospital staff could not get it together and they were to tired to care about my son. I am pleased that he is okay. I am not happy with the outcome of last night the way hospital staff did not treat my three year old right away. It was unacceptable. What if my drive was to long and the staff was to late? If you are under 10 years old and cant talk or make sense for your illness do not go to hood river hospital. Go somewhere where they act right away so you dont have the chance of possibly losing your baby.

My son was admitted to Providence in Hood River and the quality of care was outstanding! They were so caring and professional. His Nurses were informative and compassionate. I was from out of town and they were always asking if I needed anything. The Providers were there keep us in the loop of where his blood levels were and what were the next steps. I can't say enough about this Hospital, just wonderful!

So poorly treated by this hospital and their staff. Words cannot explain how much it hurts me to remember this hospital is still up and running. I was life flighted off the Mountain after a Major Snow mobile wreck and being on the mountain in pain waiting for search and rescue for 7 hours. Also; 3 months pregnant at the time. I had loss of consciousness and my cheek was stuck in my braces, my hand was completely swollen & same with my face. I work for Providence so it hurts me to have to write this but the doctor was rude, unattentative and unwilling to listen. He would not X-ray my hand, He had the nurses hold me down to cut off my clothes even though I was awake and alert (like he put in my chart). These were brand new clothes for the mountain. They cut them off; unreplaceable some of them. He refused to X-ray my hand all they did was a CT and called an ENT to stitch my face; who didn't even count the stitches so I had one stuck in my face post removal. The doctor wanted to release me home the same night; in mychart it says I was "uncomfortable going home" and had "possible loss of consciousness"??? I definitely was unconscious my family can confirm so that affects my ongoing care to this day. Anyway; they sent me to legacy because they had no beds. NEXT MORNING I HAD SURGERY ON MY HAND; IDENTIFIED A RUPTURED EAR DRUM; UNABLE TO STAND/WALK & A MAJOR CONCUSSION; completely unbearable. I was then hospitalized at Legacy for a WEEK before they could send me home. I had nurses taking vitals every 4 hours and dosing medication. I also had a miscarriage shortly after. THANKS A LOT HOOD RIVER; PLEASE PLEASE NEVER TAKE ANY CHILDREN HERE OR ELDERS
