I’ve had very positive experiences with Peace Health. Most of the comments leaving negative feedback seem to be coming from people who do not have a grasp on how the American healthcare system works. Patients are prioritized based on medical necessity, not because they personally believe they should be priority number one. Get a grip. It’s a hospital, not a resort.

At an OMG appointment the Dr. told my husband he needed to go to the Emergency Room at sacred hearts. The Dr notified the ER we were coming. We arrived just before 3:00 pm. We waited 3 1/2 hours. A little information would have been nice. We got nothing. We left.

Waited for much too long, seems like there aren’t enough doctors on hand for the amount of people who need to be attended to. I’m usually a very patient person, but waiting longer than 3 hours for test results is absolutely ridiculous in the ER. This is a place for emergencies, not a place to wait. The set up of the ER is also extremely disorganized and completely out of place. I’ve never been to a place where they check on a patient and then send them back and forth to the waiting room as much as they do. Patients should be seen in the back and then treated as needed then sent home. Not have to take a test, got back to the waiting room, wait, then go back for more tests before getting the results of the first test. Unbelievable.

The emergency room doctors and staff couldn’t have been better. However, the hospital doctor, Alexander Schable was extremely rude and unresponsive. He basically accused me of lying about my symptoms in order to get a night at the hospital. The emergency room doctor wanted me to stay overnight for observation, but Dr Schable said he “didn’t buy my story “ and sent me home at midnight. I had to take a taxi! Terrible treatment!!

Just had my baby here, and the whole experience was awesome. Extremely helpful staff. Very kind . Was the best experience we have ever had at a hospital . World's better than past experiences in California . Just a very pleasant and helpful staff.THANK YOU ALL

As the architectural work is stunning from the inside as well as the outside, please don't let that fool you. After hearing horror stories from multiple families that have been there as patients, to people working there presently, the maternity ward is absolutely awful! My husband and I decided to bring our baby into this crazy world from a different facility and had an amazing experience! Well, I made the choice to take breast feeding classes...to put it bluntly - after the first class, I wasn't happy. The nurses were shocked that my husband and I were able to deliver our baby when we wanted to - not when the doctor's wanted. This was very unwarranted from them. It's none of their business in the first place! Secondly, they were horrified that in the end, it was best for our family that our baby was to go on formula; reasons that I wont list on here. They listed formula as poison and that because we weren't going to breastfeed our child, that we were dooming our child from the start. After bruising my breasts to force breast milk out, having my child cry and then insulting my family in less than an hour, we got up in the middle of everything and left. I balled my eyes out in the elevator. I am very thankful that we chose a different place to have our baby and I can tell you right now, I will never EVER return as a patient to this hospital.

My six week old was sent to the emergency room by urgent care because they took a look at my son and could tell something was wrong. We get to Riverbend and a RN takes a look, something is wrong. Then we wait SIX AND HALF HOURS to see a doctor, the doctor listened to my son and said he just has a cough. He didn’t do any testing because he didn’t want us to wait (I would have not cared to wait, it’s for my baby) a couple days after this I take him to McKenzie willamette, they got him in faster and they actually took test, come to find out my son has rsv!

7 hours in the er and still haven't been seen by a doctor. Should be a free visit for as long as the wait is

I’ve been emailed and asked to apply for lab positions with this facility twice now (by their recruitment teams) and BOTH times the job position was “cancelled.” I’m not even sick and they’re wasting my time.

Kerissa Knotts

I have been waiting in the ER lobby to be seen for 3 hours of constant pain in tears. Told me 2 people were ahead of me and have taken 6 people back and still sitting in the lobby in pain

Randall Moring

Excellent caring and compassionate surgical and nursing staff. They were extremely helpful and understanding during my total disc replacement. I'm glad I had it done here. Thank you

Hannah Rogers

Whatever you do, NEVER set foot in this terrible hospital. Not only are they all THIEVES (there has been a story of someone's electric bike getting "lost" in the bike cages when we all KNOW they really just stole the bike). They are incompetent in so many ways, they are ALWAYS taking their sweet ass time, and the nurses SUCK. I will sure as hell never let any Riverbend employee near my stuff ever again.

Beautiful ER, courteous staff

Marcia Stewart-Warren

The hospital was amazing and Dr. Angeles did a phenomenal job on my father's spine surgery. He was high risk and we are so pleased with the outcome.

Nick Stonelake

Took over 12 hours at the emergency room to see what was wrong after bring really sick

Teri Gutierrez

Horrible. Here 6 hours in emergency room waiting to be seen. People who came after us have been seen and left. No since of urgency or compassion. Will never come here again. Go to McKenzie Willamette!

Cheryl Crump

Pediatric department is top notch and had both of my children feeling better and able to return home within just a few days of being admitted. Staff was effecient, helpful and cheerful which helped children not be as scared to be in hospital.

Franken D. Ick

The Riverbend ER doesn't deserve any stars. The only thing making me give even one is google being unreasonable and the front desk people, who were honestly the only helpful ones there.

Robert Langlois

Doctors have an extra chromosome

Epic fail at the emergency room night of 12/28. Joe cool triage nurse: You questioned my home fever of 104.4. You questioned the calibration of my thermometer, we told you we calibrated it. Don't you think one can tell when their temp is over 104?!? I was reporting fever, chills and extreme fatigue following surgery with complications, you said it was probably just the flu and rolled your eyes with a smirk to a colleague. I did not have lung, throat or congestion flu symptoms. You gave me a flu swab and told me I would hate it. Then you said you were proud of me. You're lame. The young lady taking vitals said they were waiting for people who shouldn't be there to go home. I wound up on that list after you missed the signs and failed at your job -- as I sat for hours shivering with chills. I had a kidney infection that turned into sepsis. I was hospitalized for treatment by a nurse elsewhere who is qualified and smart and not jaded. Nurse Joe cool who cares more about coming off as cool and hip than correctly diagnosing symptoms - your inadequacies could have cost me my life. Epic fail!

Cyrus Victor

Great doctors and nursing staff but the front desk is filled with a total lack of empathy except for the kind lady that works during the day

Dan Joseph

Without doubt the best medical facility in the state south of Portland. Can be very busy so if you're not dying you might have to wait a while. Smart ER doctors and appropriate staffing levels = good outcomes!

Taryn Peck

If I could give less than one star, I would. The doctor refuses to follow the insulin protocol put in place by my endocrinologist which is causing high blood sugar, the thing they’re supposed to FIX. I’ve been here almost 20 hours and still have only seen nurses, not a single doctor. The doctor refuses to see me or discharge me. Apparently if I leave AMA they won’t bill my insurance and I’ll have to pay out of pocket. This place is literal garbage. And the last time I was here they gave me so much Ativan I could barely remember my name and released me to myself, causing me to get lost and disoriented because of their poor judgment. Don’t come to this hospital unless you don’t have another choice

Styx Allum

Inexcusably slow. There is NO sense of urgency whatsoever at Riverbend's emergency room. I have taken a family member there three times thus far, and each time has resulted in many hours waiting (before, during, and after). It is common to be there for 8 to 10 hours. I generously give them a two star rating because the people at reception are nice. They manage to retain a smile despite getting blamed for things that are outside of their control. The doctors stand around in the hallway BS'ing about their day while others are either waiting for treatment or to be dismissed. Yes, even being released after treatment can take nearly two hours unless you raise a fuss to get someone to respond. All that while, others are waiting, often in intense pain, when a room could be made available for them to be seen and treated. Again, there is NO SENSE OF URGENCY at Riverbend's "emergency" room. Here's what you can expect, unless you are lucky: Check in at the desk upon arrival. Get your temperature and blood pressure readings taken (without waiting, if you are lucky) Go sit and wait in the waiting area for an hour or more. Get called back to a room for questions about your condition. Maybe get your blood pressure checked again, or even an EKG. Go sit and wait in the waiting area for another hour or more. Get called back into a room to have blood drawn (that could have been done during the first trip to a room). Go sit and wait in the waiting area for possibly several hours while seeing how long it will be before anyone else ahead of you gets called. Finally get called back to a different room. Expect to be checked by a nurse long before a doctor ever shows up (possibly that same doctor that has been BS'ing in the hallway). Wait for the doctor to arrive in your room. Get examined by the doctor. Possibly some form of treatment. Doctor leaves. Wait until a nurse or assistant comes to fetch you for X-Rays. Return from X-Rays to your room. Wait for nurse to return... "The doctor will be here soon". Wait a long time for the doctor to finally return. Doctor tells you some results, usually with some uncertainty before recommending either a prescription for some meds, or merely recommends that you go see an outside specialist that may or may not be covered by your insurance policy. Doctor leaves after saying that a nurse will be back shortly to release you. Be prepared to wait as long as two hours for that to happen as you sit in the room, wondering whether they forgot about you. Eventually, they show up and help direct you to the way out. If you think this is an exaggeration, I wish you only the best as you discover first hand that this makes your longest day at the DMV seem like picking up fast food at a drive-through by comparison. It shouldn't be that way. Unfortunately for so many, it is.

Avoid this facility! Brought here in an ambulance and then sat in a room for 20 hours before we saw a doctor. Everyone (nurses, PAs, staff) were in CYA mode and would not tell us anything. I don't like to get upset at folks, but this is ridiculous, this is not a hospital, never ever go here.

juhs 10

Be prepared to wait 5 to 8hrs in the waiting room when it's not even that busy. Unacceptable

Warning: DO NOT GO HERE. They DO NOT CARE about the safety of their patients. My father came in for a kidney stone, was quite literally killed for 5 minutes, and came out of that hospital with heart palpitations. The hospital still refuses to look into the nurses who did this and lets them continue helping people despite their complete and utter malpractice of my father. My dad has a genetic predisposition to having kidney issues. He was in dire pain and couldn't relax or calm down due to nausea and the overall horrible pain caused by the stone. A nurse got mad at him for freaking out and injected him "accidentally" with 4 times the amount of Ketamine. It completely stopped his heart and they had trouble reviving him. The nurse didn't even feel remorse or anything. She's like "I accidentally gave your husband too much medicine and now he won't wake up". Luckily another doctor came in and took over and was able to wake him up. My dad went in for a kidney stone and almost died. Now, on top of his already failing health, thanks to deteriorating bones, RA, Gulf War Syndrome, etc... he now has heart palpitations issues, thanks to her killing him with Ketamine. Sure, they took care of the kidney stone after that, but they also killed my father in the process. I don't want any other people to have to have this possibly happen, so please be wary.

It's literally like a 3rd world country up in there. Gurneys lining the hallways with sick people meanwhile the lobby is packed with people crying and throwing up in bags. Then when you finally are seen they think you actually would go through all that JUST to get pain meds. They are literally more focused on not helping you with any kind of pain that they don't even examine you properly. I was just sent home with pleurisy and nothing to help take the pain away at all cuz you know I must be faking that. I literally feel like I'm going to die today and I have nowhere to go and no one to help me.

I will never stop singing these guy's praise! They are the reason our baby girl (& myself) is alive, happy & healthy. Not only are they extremely caring, friendly & attentive, they are well educated, informative & very clean :D these people have truly been a blessing to our family & I will happily make the hour drive from our home town any time I or my family need any kind of medical care! :D

Amber Johnson

Passing through town and needed medical attention. They were friendly and fast. As i was leaving the check in team asked me if i needed anything else and they hoped i start to feel better fast. Great service!!!!

Jeremiah Johnson

Spent 3 hours waiting to be seen I went to McKenzie - Wallamet and got in right away from now on I will go to McKenzie-Wallamet if I have to go to a hospital

Lynda Bender

Would have died on the Coast where I live. From the moment I arrived at Sacred Heart every single person was capable and professional. Facility is amazing. All employees know and do their jobs above average. I was treated with caring capable hands at all parts of my emergency surgery to save my only kidney. Post operation care was just as good. Many thanks to the staff and caregivers.

Where da fk are the doctors?

Went to the ER last night. Waited over 3 1/2hours to be seen by a doctor and I was in a lot of pain. Nurses were very rude. Finally left without seeing the doctor and went somewhere else. My whole experience there was beyond disappointing. Frankly it was disgusting.

laura stoker

My son was taken here after his accident. I was so impressed with every aspect of care. Jeremy his day nurse, LQ the night nurse, Rachel the psych nurse and all of the staff I interacted with were amazing. Took time to explain lots of details to me. I am grateful for the care my son has received!

Wayne K

Should be zero nurse was very rude Dr was meh not the best listener, I took photos of my room with trash over flowing on the floor, the linen basket over filled with linen beside, my phone doesn't have a good enough camera got the filthy surfaces, don't go to this hospital you'll leave with a new disease or STI.

Elysha Barakat

The ER is horriable. Had gallbladder removed went to ER that night. Pain and vomiting. Told to shut up. He (the nurse) had flew through a window and wasn't as much as a baby as I was... Disabled Veteran- braces on both knees and ankle, survived 10 day's in Sepsis Shock with 2 abdominal abscesses.... NO RESPECT OR CARE ... DO NOT GO HERE... Did nothing- as the same nurse sat down the hall in someone else room- chatting - My mother took me to the bathroom and what ever else I needed. Complaining to the higher up.. Don't waste your time. They support their staff.

Cal

Thought I had AFIB so came to the emergency room! They got me in quickly but the aftercare was atrocious!! I waited for 4 hours to get my blood report!! McKenzie Willamette must be a better option!

Rinda Keaton

Spent 4 hours waiting and observing how this organization processes humans. They do not care. If you truly have a medical emergency go elsewhere.

Rain Howard

Never, ever go here. Just don't do it. Go anywhere else. And I mean anywhere. You would be better off seeing a drunk veterinarian in a back alley. Be faster too. I'm not sure what is worse here, the waiting, the incompetent staff, the fact that it's dangerously understaffed or that a doctor will call you a liar simply because they don't want to deal with you. Not that it matters in the end. Avoid this place.

I wish i could leave two reviews. One good, one bad. One hospitalist whom i won't name, does not care about older people and just wants the beds for someone younger and healthier. They are always full. Um. What!? He was very rude. Beyond rude. Almost killed our family member by o.d.ing him on meds. But anyway, there are some amazing doctors and nurses here and they do make up for the psycho one. Just be careful and be your loved ones advocate.

Andrew Burns

It costs $3,075 per day to stay in a room to give birth to your child. When your child is born PeaceHealth will charge you an additional $2,249 for what is called a "Nursery Charge". Are you ready for this?...You don't get anything for the additional $2,249. You still have to pay for every single doctor visit, treatment, medication, supply etc.How can this be a justifiable charge if the child never leaves the room that you already paid $3,075 for? PeaceHealth did reduce my charge by 35% because my daughter didn't have insurance when she was born. I have a long list of things I could buy for my daughter for $1,461. Buyer beware. Ask direct questions about how much things cost. It's a new law this year in 2019 that they have to disclose their "regular rates and terms" but that wasn't the case in 2018. When I asked how much it cost per night to stay in the hospital room they evaded the question and said that they don't have that information right at hand. They made me sign a Financial Services Agreement. I had to agree to pay according to PeaceHealth's regular rates and terms, but they would not provide me a copy of said terms. How could PeaceHealth expect a person to agree to pay but not disclose how much they charge. Profit at all cost. Nice Job, PeaceHealth. You should be proud.

There was nothing Peaceful or healthy about this facility. The nurse Gabi put false information on my chart. Then I was stripped of my Rights, held against my will, assaulted by 6 security to the severity of missing work and bed bound.

D Roche

Checked in at 930pm, two people in the lobby- 8/10 pain scale and sent from Urgent care. 3 hours later, we’ve seen people come and go before us and still never brought back. We were told were next, then and hr later there’s 3 people ahead of us?! We left and will go to McKenzie Willamette from now on. Absolutely horrible “care”.

Lyle Ofsthun

No. The old lady with the pixie cut who works in the lobby on day shift is awful. Mean to our family as soon as we got there, up until we left. We had to wait 2 hours for them to discharge my daughter, and she yelled at me me for taking my 3 kids to the bathroom. I am 6 months pregnant, and already waited 2 hours. I left in tears. She also taled about people dying the whole time with her male co-worker. Not something a single mom with 3 little kids needs to listen to in an EMERGENCY ROOM! My 1 year old was crying, and she scoffed, and gave us dirty looks. She tried to make me sit down while I was trying to get info on my daughter, who I was not allowed to go see. Pathetic. This lady probably gets away with being mean to lots of people. Not the place. If she does not like people, this is not the proffesion for her. I was in a volitle state, but if we meet again in that lobby, I plan to dish it right back, not just sit there and cry.

Dan Navarro

I am here now and cannot praise the personnel here enough. They are kind, prompt, and attentive. Thanks everyone on staff. From the chefs, to the meal delivery, to the doctors and nurses. You've made me feel great every step of the way.

Mercedes Avery

My son had nearly a 105 degree fever and was hot to the touch. I had put him in a lukewarm bath before leaving home to try and bring it down. I rushed him in to the ER and was told “he’s only 102”, with a little bit of a smirk. Well, duh, I brought his temperature down with a lukewarm bath before I arrived. I felt patronized from the get go, as I KNOW what my son’s temperature was. I would not have rushed into the ER for a 102 degree fever! We were taken back into triage and vitals were taken and meds were given, then we were sent out to the waiting room for nearly 3 hours with a full waiting room the entire time. The meds kicked in and we ended up leaving before being admitted. I am giving this review 2 stars, only because there were a few staff members who seemed to care and were friendly. I saw several people in wheelchairs, most of them elderly, sitting for hours on end. Most of the people in the waiting room were there before we arrived. I understand that hospitals are busy, and I know that some nights are busier than others, but to say I’m extremely unimpressed would be an understatement. This ER has gone severely downhill from the last time I went 5 years ago. Next time I just might go to McKenzie Willamette instead, even after having a bad experience there too. You can do better than this, Peacehealth.

Shelley Rochambeau

Horrible, horrible, horrible experience. Go elsewhere.

K Anderson

I worked ER admissions for 3 year's and never once seen people wait around as long as i had to. Shame on you. Get back up Dr's. You have a 2.2 rateing get it together. When you have over 15 people waiting open an alternative space!

Maty Banderas

This place is horrible got in at 11pm and the have 10 patients it's 2am and we all are still here at the waiting room waiting for rooms to open please if you know of another hospital closest than this go a head and go they had people coughing, vomiting, people with traumas, a pregnant lady. Really this place is HELL.
