Nursing staff tries at times but not enough help. Medicine pass for Parkinson’s patient given over 1 hour and half late. No response to change wet bed. Terrible care. Would never take someone there.

My son is currently inpatient for a bone marrow transplant. We have been so many hospitals...this one, by far, has exceeded all others. From the housekeeping staff, to the coordinators, the nurses and doctors...it helps this mama bears heart to know he is in good hands. Every single person has been nice and uplifting and tends to his every need promptly. Still so overwhelmed, but the staff is always nearby. The cleanliness is amazing and Jewish has set a new standard for me. Thank you for all you do!

Service was bad...billing department even worse. They lied to me for 6 months straight saying my insurance company denied the claim when my insurance never received the claim. Basically had to lie cheat and steal to get a copy of the form they claimed to have sent to my insurance. In the meantime I was giving them payments every month to keep it out of collections. My insurance paid after I sent them the form myself and Jewish owes me a refund. Suprise! Their itemized statement doesn't match my EOB because they have edited their statement to make it look like my insurance paid less than they did. Now I get to fight them until who knows when. Liars and theives.

I really like my doctor and the nurses are really sweet.

I want to thank everyone in Same Day surgery, PACU and surgery for the excellent care I received at Jewish. Being a retired nurse from St.Elizabeth I really appreciated the great care I received ..Thank you

I wish I knew the name of the young, arrogant male physician who "treated" me- you think it should be on my AVS! He was disrespectful by telling me I shouldn't be in the ER and he had a lot to say about his point. He was not going to tell me that my EKG printout said tachycardia until after I brought it up. I can go on, but I doubt I'll have the characters!

BWYA ADVENTURES

The nurses there were great, but my husband was straight cath by students that did not know what they were doing, the regular nurse on duty had to come in and got it on the first try after the students trying twice. My husband had back surgery and was told he would get in home rehab, but he did not get it and was pretty unsteady before he left. When he was discharged March 8th two days after his surgery I came to pick him up and we tried to get him dressed and the fall alarm went off on his bed a nurse came running in frowning and looking at me like I had done something wrong by letting him get dressed turned to me and with a nasty tone said, "I am not his nurse and I don't want to get in trouble for him falling." I proceeded to explain that he was getting discharged and we were trying to get him ready, when I said that she said, "I AM NOT HIS NURSE, I WILL GET HER!" Such rudeness, uncaring, and insensitivity for him. He was rushed out of the hospital because they didn't care if he fell at home but not while they were caring for him.

I had a complete joint replacement . The staff all the way to the kitchen were Awesome!! I hope not to need a hospital again but if I do this place is a A+ in my book.

Anything affiliated with "Mercy" should not be trusted. Lawyers are going to have a field day with this one.

The Emergency department is the worse. If I have anytime o injury and I am in front of it I still would not go in there. I was brought in by ambulance for an head injury, I had temporary unconsciousness, Nausea and vomiting, headache blurry vision and balance problems and said I was not a priority. They had the ambulance driver place me in the waiting area. Also I have a history of seizures. Went to another hospital (did nit get seen there cause the charge nurse came out and said I was not a priority to my face) and fund out I have a grade 3 concussion.

I have hiv and was dealing with lung issues. Let me now thank all the nurses who I came in contact with cause you're the best ,from the ones in my room to the ones taking care of me with test . Ty from the bottom of my heart

This was the slowest visit we've ever had for poison ivy break out. 5 people that came in after us was called back. 2 had colds (was overheard them describing their symptoms). The other 3 couldn't have been serious considering they walked in n walked back. Its like we're overlooked. Just need a shot for my poison ivy n on we'd be on our way. Already been waiting 2 hours n stillhavent been called back..... This place sucks

I gave them 1 star but the deserve less my friend was admitted on Sunday at 1030 am. He was admitted in the cancer ward the outpatient treatment they has been doing was getting him sicker the feeding tube they put in wasnt put in correctly and leaked they acted as though it wasnt important he developed an infection because of this and was admitted. Once he was admitted it only got worse he went from 170 pounds to 118 pounds now I know this has to do with his cancer however they stopped feeding him through his feeding tube decided they wanted him to eat regular food then wouldn't bring him any he went from Sunday at 1030 til Wednesday at 1 before he received any meal then he had the lunch and dinner for that day then the next morning the forgot him again friday forgot again then he was supposed to go in for surgery at 630 am on Saturday doctor no show they said he couldn't have anything to eat after midnight on friday so no breakfast on Saturday then doc never showed to do the surgery still no food for lunch still no surgery finally at 1 they take him for surgery and he cant eat again until almost 7 at night this place is ridiculous if they cant heal you they will kill you

My husband came to this hospital for lung surgery. They never once changed his bandages just would re tape them. He didnt get to eat for 3 days. The bed they did his surgery on was the bed he slept in for 6 days never once where the sheets changed. They use the same oxygen tank for 7 or more patients. I would not recommend this hospital to anyone. Once your in there its like you are not treated like a human being. I seriously think they need to reevaluate this hospital and there morals. And actually care for the patient in a dignified manner. This hospital should be closed down!!!!!!!

My first visit as a patient to any hospital was to Jewish last week. I was brought there by ems after my ekg went south during a sick visit at my primary physician. The nursing staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. The physician's bent over backwards to keep me informed. They were both courteous and friendly in the process. It wasn't a happy time, but if the guy driving the ambulance asked me "where are we going" again I wouldn't hesitate to say Jewish Hospital.

Jonilse Mitchell

The Emergency department needs to do a sweep to weed out the good nurses and techs from the one's that are too busy talking on the phone with their friends to be helpful to patient's questions. The female tech was rude and seemed uninterested in what my brother-in-law was asking. The only good thing was that Dr. Willing was is amazing at his job, cares about his patient's, actually explained what was going on and heard him out. Unimpressed with Jewish Hospital.

My son very sick no other hospital would help us, thank you JESUS Jewish hospital listened and helped, I KNOW Jesus blessing was upon us. ...

Horrible experience!! The er doctor took 1 look at me (my jaw was swollen) tells me I need a tooth extraction and tells me to go to uc oral surgery center. He did not touch me, Did not look in my mouth, no exam what so ever, Did not give me anything for the pain but still charged me. Ends up I got 2 teeth pulled at uc, But I was misdiagnosed by Jewish in the 1st place. I had a clogged saliva gland (swelling continue for over 1 year after extractions) So now I need to come up with FOURTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS to get implants for my missing teeth. JEWISH IS INCOMPETENT! And I totally agree with the other reviews that stated prior to mercy taking over, It was a great hospital, unfortunately not anymore.

Taylor Riggins

The nurses and staff in the ER were sooo great with my 22 month old son, who needed stitches in his chin.

Not warm and fuzzy on the 5th floor on 3/27/2018 @ 4:50 pm. Family was brought to the 5th floor to wait on our loved one from recovery. Private room had one chair, the nurse Rhonda was very forboding; there were 8 of us 5 elderly. We asked for 1 additional chair that made 2 chairs for the room and were told they were pretty full on the floor and we could rotate in and out of the waiting room. I walked the hall and saw several rooms with no visitors with extra chairs in the rooms. She offered to TRY to find one more chair but it never happened. None of us except the spouse planned to stay long, we just wanted to see our loved one and then we would leave. Rhonda was not warm or accommodating to family and being these were elderly people that really bothered me. My experiences with Tri Health and Mercy West and visitors was much more welcoming and accommodating to family. I would never come here for medical needs to have my family mistreated. Family can often be a help to nurses, I have fetched water fluffed pillows, help feed people run errands for my loved ones while they were in the hospital. So Nurses might want to consider this.

Susan Morris

The majority of the therapists were super,as were the Nurses,Drs.basically everyone there

Great professional care by everyone I encountered at The Jewish Hospital when I went in for same day foot surgery ; from kind man at information desk, admission clerk, to pre op nurse Christie, through post op recovery nurse Donna also, nurse practitioner, anesthesia doctor and nurse and my wonderful doctor, Micheal Duran Thank you to all!

Robert Jordan

The Endocrinology office is simply horrible. Avoid at all costs! Heather Smothers is one of the least caring and least trustworthy medical professionals that I ever encountered.

David Woerner

Don't bother asking for a doctor, you won't get one. Nurses huddled around desks chit chatting but not 1 doctor. You'll also be lucky if you call for a nurse and they show up in a good response time. Some of the nurses are nice and do well but the rest don't... Go to Good Sam.

Carla Tee

I was born at the Jewish hospital in 1968. It was the best of the best. When I got older I went there exclusively. When it got taken over by Mercy, I saw a quality of care go down. I was sent out of the emergency room without any real diagnosis. Throw some pills at you and send you on your way seemed to be the new model. Even though Jewish is right down the road I go to Christ or UC. UC has come a long way in research and has some fantastic Drs. If I really need help, I will go out of my way to avoid Jewish.

Nick Smith

When I called the main number, I received an incredible amount of attitude from the main phone receiver after asking a simple follow up question about how to reach my doctor. Very disappointed with their customer service and she still didn't help me with a solution on how to get a hold of my doctor.

LeeAnn Walker

Worst experience ever. Arrived at 5:30 am for surgery. Got out of surgery at 11 am. Waited in recovery until 5 pm. Our nurse left us in recovery to take another patient while we waited for our transporter. When we arrived at the room there was no nurse. We sat in the room for 15 minutes and finally called in a nurse. Although there were no dietary restrictions no food was offered until 6 pm.

I had out patient surgery and they were awsome. The staff was so caring & even though I was nervous they reassured me. They took great care of me as I struggled to come out of the anesthesia & kept my loved ones informed.. the waiting rooms were clean & comfortable.

Tammy Reasoner

I had a horrible experience and continue to be overbilled. Can't reach anyone willing to work through the issues with. I'm less than 10 minutes from this hospital but will not go back. As a former legislative aide, I totally understand the challenges of the current healthcare system, but leaving garbage in my bed, blood samples unmarked and left behind, and unanswered questions in an ER are not acceptable. Even in looking at the reviews the last negative rating took a month to get a response. This is absolutely reflective of my experience. Not worth it...and, when I went in for chest pains. Wish I'd have just waited it out.

The longest I have ever spent in an emergency room and they went even busy. The guy that had to help me needed google and another doctor to help him figure out what he was doing. I recommend finding a faster hospital.

I was at Jewish Hospital ER yesterday. My nurse, William Kock (Bill) was phenomenal- probably the best nurse I've ever had! He was very attentive, very caring, and spent time talking with me, which helped to slightly take my mind off the pain I was in. He went above and beyond!

On May 1st 2017 I fell down our stairs at home. I fractured my neck and back. I started off at Mercy on Mack Road then was moved here. My experience with Mercy on Mack Road was not good....however once I was moved here it was good. Everyone was nice and helpful. Not every hospital stay is good and seemingly we remember the bad stuff, but I had no issues to complain about at this hospital. I remember a doctor there telling me in my ear that everything was going to be okay. That's what I remember to this day!

SUSAN GILLIAM

My husband has a procedure scheduled at Jewish Hospital on May 4. He received a pre op call this morning. Person he talked with was in a hurry and did not adequately explain directions on what was needed prior to procedure. When he tried to call back, he was not able to TALK WITH A PERSON. He has been on hold for 42 minutes. Is this common procedure?? Very disgusted with Jewish. Finally made contact with an efficient and helpful person.

Jamie Landrum

Everyone knows that this hospital needs major improvement. I was hoping that it got better, but from what I have heard from family members it's still as bad as I remember. This is the only hospital where I have had an asthma attack bad enough that i couldn't talk. I wrote that I was having an asthma attack on a piece of paper and showed it to the nurse. She didn't care. She handed me a clipboard and told me to have a seat. I could barely walk but made it back to a room when I was called. The nurses decided to assist an elderly woman who claimed she was having trouble breathing but made jokes to me the entire walk back to our rooms. I thought i was going to stop breathing and began crying. The nurse only helped me after my husband had to loose his temper to get some help. About a hour later my lungs started closing again. I pressed the button to request a nurse multiple times and no one responded. Once again my husband had to scream at the nurses to help me. They came running in the room and by this time I was foaming from the mouth, and my heart rate was dropping. I was then moved to ICU. I spent a couple days there and they still didn't know how to keep my lungs open. I informed the HORRIBLE doctor that I didn't feel that I should be discharged bc i couldn't make it to work if i couldn't breath. She said "well I can't keep you here just because you don't want to go to work". Like I was just some lazy bum trying to get out of work after that almost let me die. WORST HOSPITAL EVER!

Ronald Doss

They took care of everything, I didn't even have to bring a pet from home. All was ready great people and my PET Scan was splendid. Thank you Mercy!!!

Wonderful, Caring and Compassionate Staff. My Mother-In-Law passed away Tuesday in the Intensive Care Unit. The doctors and nurses treated her with respect, dignity, and the very best care they could provide given the situation. They did not sugar-coat things for us but delivered the news with great compassion. They cared for our entire family throughout the the very worst day of our lives and helped us to get through an extraordinarily difficult set of circumstances. They have my family's sincerest gratitude.

We were put in an ambulance and they dropped us in the middle of the waiting room after my neighbor had cut half of her middle finger off trimming bushes (she was bleeding crying and needed attention ASAP). We waited four hours in the lobby along with 5 other patients waiting for our turn! (I swear I was so mad I was about to go all John Q on them). We finally get taken back and have to wait even more for a Dr. Let me remind you this is on a Weds. evening (aka they were not busy and their secretary just sat her at her desk playing solitaire- she was very unhelpful).Patients with both major and minor injuries had to WAIT. If you need quick/imminent medical attention this is NOT the place to go/be. (I GIVE IT ZERO STARS)

My family has had multiple experiences with Jewish Hospital over the past 8 months and each experience has been outstanding. Three surgeries and all three, the nurses and support staff was outstanding very compassionate, thorough, professional and best of all very personable. Everyone we came in contact with was absolutely awesome. Two extended hospital stays, and the most amazing nursing and support staff on the 5th floor. The 5th floor is our favorite floor as the nurses and support staff made us feel like family. Answered every question, provided compassion like it was their own family member and had a sense of humor - THANK YOU to the 5th Floor Nurses and Support Staff you are HEROES in every sens of the word. Lastly, a visit to the ER and again, nothing but supportive professional care. Couple points of recommendations - the Vanilla Latte at the Latte Cafe is amazing, the pizza and vegetarian chili in the cafeteria are great and the entire facility is very clean and easy to navigate. We will always consider Jewish Hospital for any care - THANK YOU!

Went to er with my face swollen like a grapefruit in alot of pain took 2 hours to get a Tylenol all the while they left my door wide open for everyone to see and I saw nurse that didn't get out of their chairs for hours if you want be treated like a human being do not go to jewish

I had an outpatient surgery, so I can only speak from that perspective (i.e., no ER or being admitted experience). From the first person I met at the information desk to the last nurse who helped me check out and get to my mother’s car and in it safely, each person who took care of me was kind, respectful, professional, and helped to put me at ease. I interacted with admissions staff, PCA’s, nurses, anesthesiologists, and surgeons. I fractured my arm 6 months ago, had an emergency surgery and a titanium rod placed in my arm (different hospital) and have had a serious loss of range of motion in spite of 50 physical therapy sessions. The surgery at Jewish Hospital was my third procedure and last hope. It wasn’t easy to be there, but everyone made it better. I also really appreciated how respectful and nice staff treated my mom and significant other. When you’ve experienced a traumatic injury and so much time having your world flipped upside down, not to mention poor experiences with surgeons and staff at other places, what I found at Jewish Hospital was so needed and appreciated. I was a little nervous because of some of the reviews, but I’m so glad I decided on this facility. It honestly couldn’t have been better.

On November 11th 2016, Linda Cochran (my cousin) was admitted to Jewish Hospital taken by ambulance. She had pneumonia and she is also a cancer patient. No November 14th 4 people walked into her room to transfer her to a gurney. One gentleman was on his cell phone and when he finished his conversation, they gathered around her and was told by the gentleman to pick up on all 4 corners of the sheet to move her. One of the ladies dropped her corner and when they slid her over, the wheels were not locked on the gurney and rolled away and they dropped her on the floor. She suffered a knot and a cut on her head and bruising on her arm. They took her for a cat scan and she was fine. They called me and told me “she fell”. She can’t fall, because she cannot stand at all. I told them this. The lady repeated again “she fell” I said “You dropped her didn’t you”? She said “Yes, we call it fell”. We had discussed that she would be going to a nursing home for rehabilitation for her legs and arms. That same day, they called me to tell me she was being discharged to come home and they were sending her home with oxygen. She is still clearly sick. It was like they wanted to get her out of the hospital so they didn’t have to claim any responsibility if she developed anything from the fall. I told them she is NOT ready to come home today. The lady said “I just talked with her son and he is coming to get her”. I told her that was a lie, I just spoke with him. They had a caseworker call me on this and I told them what they were doing. The case worker talked to the nurse and she admitted she lied about the son coming to get her. The caseworker said she would set her up to go to a nursing home. I told them I would like to put her at Forest Hills Care Center in Mt Carmel Ohio and I gave her the number. My 2nd choice was The Villa in Georgetown Ohio. The case worker called me today and said there was a bed for her and her insurance was approved for the one in Mt Carmel. She said they will be transporting her at 3:30. I went to see her at 5:30 pm and no one knew who she was and she was not a patient there. I called the hospital and ask “where did you send her”? They told me to call a relative and ask them! I got angry enough, they went to look to see where they sent her and they had sent her to The Anderson Nursing Home. That is 15 miles away from where she was supposed to be. I have contacted an attorney and they said it wasn’t worth their wild to represent her about dropping her. This hospital is so messed up and injured her. They cant follow direction and they lie. That’s sad! Is there anything you can do to help me? Thank you Kim Wright

Your responsible for contacting the hospital to make sure they dont change your surgery time. According to them they make imaginary calls and leave imaginary voicemails when they change your surgery time and give other patients your appointment... its a shame that the excellent Doctor has staff that shames his practice.

Ellen Mueller

Best hospital ever. Very professional physicians and staff. Would highly recommend.

I wouldn't want my dog to get treated here... my friend went today and I wish she would've told me that she was going there because I would've advised her to go to Bethesda north.. she has flu like symptoms which they never checked her for.. from my understanding and what a doctor told me at Bethesda is that if you been exposed to the flu and get the flu you can be treated with antbotics if they catch it early enough.. they didn't check her for the flu or anything .. I took her to Bethesda they did check her for the flu which she had gave her antibiotics and now she's feeling a lot better.. Jewish did nothing..

5 minute wait, 5 minutes until the ER doctor saw my dad. WAY better service than TriHealth Bethesda North.

Today is the 7 year anniversary of the death of my father and I believe the actions or lack their of of the staff was a major contributing factor if not entirely their fault. My father was in for a few reasons one of which was a condition that made him seem Drunk, confused, and he would often lose his balance and fall. He was a major fall risk and had all the bracelets to prove it. He had to go to the bathroom and the staff had removed his bedside urinal and when no one answered his call button he got up and went to the bathroom. Apparently his bed alarm was turned off or ignored so no one stopped him from getting up. While in the bathroom he lost his balance fell against the door and broke his hip. Finally a nurse showed up knocked on the door and has someone force it open pushing my father screening in pain with it. They made him get up and walk himself to the bed though he said he was in pain. They later realized his hip was broken. He was near the top of a liver transplant list and due to this he was unable to be transported to Indy and died waiting... My mother wanted take legal action just to have them admit their fault and they allow their charts to be in such disorder our lawyers were not able to decipher enough in time to use it in court before the statute of limitations was up... The chief nurse and a hospital head made a "completely normal" visit to us in the waiting room while he was in surgery to check on us... Felt like they were feeling us out for legal action. Luckily for them my mother is not someone that likes to get lawyers involved easily...

They saved my mom from having a stroke after Montgomery Carecore nursing home almost killed her throwing her on abilify against her primary care doctors and guardians orders. They treated her with such love and affection❤ This hospital is truly state-of-the-art with phenomenal doctors, nurses, and staff! I HIGHLY recommend this hospital! Special thanks to all the 6th floor staff! Much love sent and I pray Hashem blesses them all of their days!

The worst place I have ever had to go for care. In the emergency treatment room's there are gnat's flying around the room. Dirt in the corners of the room made me gag. Nasty.

Worst ER experience ever. Was there with friend last night. Helping a delivery person get packages to location was more important than the line of incoming patients. Took two of yiu staff to help him for some reason Filled out paperwork as requested indicating it was a workers comp claim. Waitied approximately two hours to. E called back. Called back in groups and placed on beds in hallways with handwritten locations taped to the artwork in the hallways. I asked if they were too busy for us to be seen and should we go elsewhere and PCA told me that no, the hospital was full and they had to be put in ED rooms. Ensured us the doctor would see us soon Asked for a blanket and pillow and PCA stated she was not sure she would be able to find one After waiting another 1.5 hours stopped someone going by who was a resident, Dr Kwon, who was the only friendly staff member we encountered that night. He seemed to be able to expedite things a bit. At his point, no triage had taken place, no vital signs ever done, no one had even looked at the injury. No one greeted us in the ED, and no nurse ever came to his bedside. Arrival at 1830 X-ray at 2115, and Dr Kwon dressed the would and finished with us at 2200. Said he would send the nurse with Discharge instructions. 10 minutes later, Jackie came (reeked of smoke - thought your place was a smoke free campus??) to do the REGISTRATION. Rude and asked why we hadn't completed the workmans comp forms we were given we we first came here ( we were t given any even thought the it was clearly indicated on the brief form I did fill out when we first came in to the waiting area at 1830 ). Nurse finally came at 1030 with Discharge instructions and never introduced herself but did say the reason she hadn't come earlier was that she had "sicker people to deal with"

Would be 5 stars but the elevator is so slow I could scale the building faster.

Called ahead to ask if they could perform a simple chest X-ray. The woman on the phone was very friendly and helpful in answering my questions and giving me directions. The actual facility was clean and bright-- although they are undergoing renovations-- and everyone I talked to was very friendly and professional. I was in and out within an hour.

Drew & Debbie did my mother's MRI. She was VERY nervous and is claustrophobic. The let me stand near her and talk with her through it and went out of their way to be nice and attentive & calm her down. We couldn't have asked for a better pair. The experience was wonderful and my mother talked the rest of the day about how easy they made it.

Came in with a severe pain in the right back. I don’t know what it was so I thought i could be my kidney. The nurses were attentive and very compassionate. The ER doctor ordered morphine that didn’t work. She said she will gave me ibuprofen but instead gave me hydromorphone which also didn’t work for me. It just made me feel so weird but the pain was horrible. Got CT scan and they found I have some fluids in the pleural area of the lungs. Instead of determining how I got it or determine the cause. The ER doctor told me to follow up with my doctor and sent me home immediately with antibiotics. I finished the antibiotics but still I suffered so much pain and went to a different hospital and BECAUSE other hospital dig further they found out that it needed to be drained because it was an abscess. I would never trust Jewish Hospital again...Not that ER doctor. The nurse, he is exceptional.

My father has been here since May 26th. I can not say enough about the care he has received from the ER to the ICU staff. As we get ready to transfer to Hospice of Cincinnati I want to say a big thank you for the care received!

The nurse and doctor had two different diagnosis for my husband and two different stories. Then I could hear them talking about how the person next to us was a dope head and heroin user.My brother went and they first accused him of being a heroin user Then they said they had to do a spinal tap because they thought it was meningitis ended up being a viral infection I wouldn't take my worst enemy there.

Everyone we had contact with from the er to the ICU was amazing. The nurses and doctors were the best that we could ask for any provided exceptional care for our mother and support for the family.

I would prefer to give more stars but they only allow 5. I don't understand all the bad reviews I see on here. I went to Jewish Hospital on Jan 18, 2018 for spine surgery. I was expecting to spend the night and was dreading it, then my insurance company notified me that they had authorised 11 days. Now I was really dreading it. I stayed for 4 days. After the 1st day I knew that I would have been very comfortable with 11 days. My wife asked the nurse if she could spend the night in my room. The nurse told her that she could stay as long as I was in the hospital, she went home and got some clothes and other things and that was the only time she wasn't with me for the 4 days. I had my own surgeons so I never met any hospital doctors but I had the 4 best nurses in the city. They were truly great, very caring and helpful in every way. No one ever came into my room and turned on a light without asking me if it would be ok. They were hooking up meds to my drip line. Why would I want them to do it in the dark? Every employee who I met working on the 5th floor was very professional. Sometimes they were on their computers, doing things they were supposed to be doing, not surfing on their computers. I never once saw any hospital employee playing on a cell phone. These people were the most professional employees I've ever seen. I would like to thank the 4 nurses who helped me to recover, I won't forget you. My wife and I agree that our stay was like a short vacation in a very pleasant hotel. Thank You very much to all the people at The Jewish Hospital. Ed Mahon

ER experience was the worst! I've always gone to Jewish but never again. I went into ER for a kidney stone back in September. I was in excruciating pain and throwing up in the waiting room and even though there was no other patients waiting I stayed out there for close to 15 mins. The front desk staff member didn't seem to care; didn't ask if I needed anything or gave me any updates. She was too busy chatting with the security officer on duty. I had to ask her how much longer I had to wait. When I did get called back to a room, the nurse was not friendly at all, led me into middle room that looked like it was used for "special patients" who may be agressive or a harm to themselves. The nurse, Tonya, didn't introduce herself to me, made me feel like she didn't care that I was crying out in pain & asked me 3 times where I was feeling pain and how bad it was. I'm literally screaming out in pain and you need to ask me three times. I have a history of stones & I know the symptoms. She would not give me eye contact and when she asked me the last time I reached over and ran my hand down her side to show where my pain was since she obviously wasn't watching me do it to myself. She handed me a gown that was at least three sizes too small...I had to later ask someone else to get me a larger gown. Another nurse came in to hook up by IV after waiting at least an hour. I'm still in pain & have received no pain drugs at this point. They both were having difficulty finding a viable vein & kept jerking my arms around and telling me "Don't Move". I explained that I couldn't stay in one spot for very long because of the severe pain. They ignored everything I said and the one nurse gave up and walked out the room. I then had another girl walk into my room with a little cart asking how I wanted to pay my copay...I hadn't even been treated yet, still in horrible pain & she wanted paid. When I noticed she was still standing there 5 mins later I asked her you want paid now. She said "Oh no we can bill you if you prefer" Why was that not the first option when I laying there moaning inpain! So disgusting! I finally got the IV and when Tonya was getting ready to hook up the pain meds I turned to try to get comfortable and she said "I told you not to move" I said that I had to. Then she said "why are you going to punch me again?" I was so shocked that she accused me of this and she cleaned it up a bit and said "or hit me....let me just get you another nurse" and walked out the room. Meanwhile she left the drugs lay and didn't hook them up to relieve my pain. I couldn't believe I was being treated this way...I'm a patient in need of treatment and I felt like an inconvenience to them. It's their duty and job to treat the patients. After all I am a paying customer. The 2nd nurse walked back into the room after about 15 mins and said "oh you haven't gotten your pain meds yet". I told her what happened and she said nothing, no apology or nothing...just ignored that I even said anything, hooked up the bag and walked out. 2 hrs before I even got any form of comfort for my pain! Unbelievable! The morning nurses & doctor were great and made up for the nasty treatment I received when I first came in...but I will never go back to Jewish for any further treatments! Extremely disappointed!

I have been sitting in er department for 3 hours and my name still has not been called. They dont check on you or say anything to you once you check in. They staff just sits and surf the web and thats it. Horrible I see why they got a 3.2 on there ratings. Never go threw the er department unless you go by ambulance. You will be sitting there for hours. I went to bethesda and was seen within a hour and out by a hour total of 2 hours i sat at jewish for 3 hours and then was told we just have so many ambulance coming so its pointless to go there.

I had a minor procedure done at Jewish and the staff was fantastic. Everything was great. It is under construction which is no fun but I can't wait to see it when it's finished. Keep up the good work.

I went there a few nights ago with a broken foot. My nurse sarah and the woman who put my splint on, Ciera were so amazing. Dr. Kircher was also wonderful. I was in a lot of pain and they made sure they took care of me the best they could. I know ER employees are bombarded with ignorant people and people who are ungrateful and i think they need to hear the positive feedback as well!

Excellent triage nurse named Julia who grasped the complexity of my situation immediately. Unfortunately the attending physician (Mc Mullen) and his PA (Alyssa) really didn't comprehend the need for IV fluids or pain management, I have been a health care provider since 1990 and I must say I was more astounded by their lack of empathy and problem-solving, than by their total arrogance and inability to answer any question directly. Furthermore, the nurse, Mara, was so ashamed to be part of the non-treatment, since she had to witness the writhing in pain, dehydration, and dizziness, she could not look me in the eye. She knew what they were doing was unconscionable. If you go there in pain you will be treated like a drug-seeking heroin addict, even if the problem is an out-sized ovarian cyst, or anything else I suppose. They don'i have time to make a diagnosis or realize what will happen to you if you are discharged. Most importantly, to them, they apparently don't want to fill out the OARRS forms. Better off at B North or UC West Chester, or Christ.

Although I was treated promptly and compassionately on my second ER trip in a week, I'm very disappointed with the first visit to ER for same complaint on 8/6/2018 I went in on a Monday morning at 400 am with severe leg pain. It suddenly came on a few days earlier and gradually got worse. The ER doctor came in and pushed on the back of my leg and immediately diagnosed me with Achilles tendinitis. The only problem I had was I never injured myself and I've been sitting around resting from a surgery I had 2 weeks prior (big time clue). He told me to stretch and offered a couple pain pills before I left. I felt like they thought I was making this up because of all the pill seekers out there. I went through horrible pain after and my PCP ordered me to see a podiatrist stat. I got in on Thursday and he immediately told me to go to ER. I wanted to give Jewish another text becaaue they have been good to me many other times. So, I went back, this time with orders from podiatrist to tell them what to look for..(blood clots in leg). They did a ultra sound with doppler and found I had multiple blood clots in leg and they immediately took me to ctsan to check my lungs as over the past day or so I developed chest pain. Ct results came back a I they found that I had pulmonary embolisms in both lungs. I was immediately put on heparin iv to prevent any other clotting and taken to criticle care where I would stay the next few days. I know these clots in lungs were not there in my lungs on that Monday when I went the first time. I remember laying down on that Wednesday after and awoken by coughing my head off like water was running through my lungs. I sat up and the coughing stop but thats when I felt pain in or under my rib cage (from the clots). One misdiagnoses that made absolutely no sense could have led to my death. I'm glad it all worked out and once I was in the progressive care unit, I felt very well taken care of and the pain was controlled promptly. There is a small girl that haunts the 4th floor though. She seems to just want to play .I have a video recording of something saying "stop it" (girls voice) and right after that a evil Male voice says "leave". I wish I could post it. The nurses witnessed it and I have them admitting to it also on video. Let's just say... I was fine up until that moment then I wanted out, gone, byebye! Let's just say that night was interesting and I was glad to leave the next day! Only can give 2 stars because I was looked at like a drug seeker and almost died because of it. Having blood blot in lungs can lead to permit damages and could have been prevented if the ER doctor didnt have his blinders on. Now I'm out of work and can't breath when moving around. People make mistakes but this one had symptoms of blood clots all over it!!

We should’ve stopped after our first visit at this hospital! The second visit was no where near as good as the first. Experience with registration, surgery and PACU were wonderful on both visits. However, with the second surgery, the floor experience on the second day was HORRIBLE! There seemed to be no communication between the nurses from shift-to-shift or between the nursing staff and other therapists (PT, OT). Every time someone came into the room, everyone asked the same questions. It would’ve been a better experience if you only had to “tell the story” one time instead of over and over again. It would provided better peace of mind that the staff was working as a team and had the concept of care uniformity. For instance, 2 of the 3 nurses allowed for walking to the restroom with family or staff assistance while one said “no one but me walks with you”. Also folks that entered the room would immediately flip the lights on, which in my opinion, is rude and disruptive for a post-surgical patient trying to rest and recover. At the time of discharge, there were questions about medications and physical therapy - the nurse “didn’t know anything because she wasn’t told”. The patient has no control over what is communicated during shift report and it was extremely frustrating while trying to get discharged that all the medications were not ordered, the request for “Meds to Bed” was not filled and there was no order for post-operative physical therapy. There was no “extra effort” from the nurse to help resolve these issues. Extremely disappointed in the most recent experience.

I cannot believe these people. I went to the hospital and have been paying them as much as i could every month using a scheduled payment so it goes to them automatically. Becuase the payment was not "enough" they moved my account to collections even though i am still paying them. this is rediculous. I have paid every month all i can in these times. At least they are getting paid, but because i am not giving them $100 every month which i cannot afford, they report it as unpaid.

Great care, great hospital!

I'm not going to get into it but this hospital not only let my grandmother die, they lost the records of my father's heart surgery too making him get denied for SSD and he had to appeal and hire a lawyer. Then with me, I come in sick as a dog, abdominal pain, vomiting every five mins (which they witnessed) blood in stool and mucus as well as weight loss and they take a CT scan and see that I have a lower bowel obstruction. They left me and my boyfriend in that room waiting for hours and hours. I spoke with two surgeons and a radiologist. They wanted to operate and left. An hour later some different person walks in and says we're going to do another x-ray (not as efficient as a CT) and they take back everything that was said and sent me home. I'm still sick, it's a freaking year later and I've seen three specialist about it. No one knows whats wrong but everyone is in agreement that something IS wrong. And I'm still shoving all kinds of pills down my throat with no results.

Seccenne Johnson

Everyone whom I came in contact with were so kind and friendly. All the staff always smile. This is a great hospital.

Worst hospital ever. Almost killed my mom, we had to transfer her to another hospital and they diagnosed me with a serious condition but never told me about. I found out by reading my medical records. DO NOT GO THERE.

DO NOT pay your bill within the 7 days for the 20% discount. We did this and it turns out what we paid(with the discount) was actually what we owed according to my insurance. They said if they over charged us they would refund us so that we would still get the discount for paying right away. THAT WAS A LIE!!!! It's been a month now and still they are saying that I owed 1,000 more than what I was actually supposed to be charged even though I have my EOB and have talked to my insurance several times to send them the EOB. THIS IS A SCAM just so that you pay right away and they don't honor the discount promised. I will never go to this hospital again!!
