Guess I'll go back to the hotel and die there instead of dying in the waiting room. EKG must not have been too bad, sent to the waiting room for 3.5 hours after triage. I'll take my chances.

Berkay Kaplan

Not an outstanding service, but financial aid is available for those in need. They ask for a paper from the HR office of your workplace that shows how much you earned in the last three months, and determine your eligibility for financial aid

Arionne Roby

This has been the worst experience I’ve ever had at a hospital. The staff was literally laughing at patients because of their pain. I’ve been here for over 10 hours with no results and everything is unprofessional about this place. I would rate Cleanliness at a 2 out of 10 and hospitality at a 0. Don’t go here for help at all. You don’t experience stuff like this at Cleveland clinic or any other hospital, ever !!

I went in around 11pm for uncontrollable vomiting and abdominal pain (along with some other symptoms) I waited about 45 minutes before seeing a doctor I waited about 3 hours for my tests to come back because nobody ever came to collect my urine sample. To be fair to the doctor, I very distinctly heard him tell a nurse to come collect my sample - she just never showed. It was 3am when someone came in and apologized for the wait. It took the nurse 4 times to put an IV in, and then she never bothered hooking up a saline solution although I was dehydrated and the doctor said to hook one up I never received pain medication, just nausea pills I never received a diagnosis. My doctor never discussed the aftercare. It was just a simple “stomach bug”. I went to Mount Carmel shortly after because the symptoms got worse. They immediately took me for testing and imaging, where they found my gallbladder was the cause of the issue and I needed to have surgery as soon as possible. OSU let me leave their ER with no diagnosis while my gallbladder was failing. I can’t even begin to describe how disgusted and angry I am, that they would be so careless with a patient like that. This is the second time I have left OSU with an incorrect diagnosis. Both times have been serious medical issues that OSU seemingly overlooked, probably because they wanted my bed free.

Deanna Waugh

The doctors, nurses and staff are wonderful. They saved my life

I came in because I was in pain from Gall Stones. (Afraid of a rupture) Arrived at 10:00pm just now being seen at 5:30am! By a doctor 8 whole hours LATER. I was crying hysterically 45 minutes before they finally let me back. My pain had subsided slowly but I was mostly crying because of how NEGLECTED I felt, people constantly being called back and I couldn't Because I guess my emergency wasn't as bad, Because you couldn't see my pain. I couldn't help feeling so LOW. Embarrassed for having to cry and be in pain in front of others. I just wanted to curl up and disappear

Anna Puryear

Been there a few Times in last several months not sure why interns are coming in and the majority of my visits seem actual dr ! I understand learning hospital! But maybe if the dr had come in and listen and did their job I wouldn’t still be sick ! People are being treated as of their lives don’t matter !!

sunshine Jackson

This is all about money it's a shame

J Wel

Emergency room is ridiculous. We were told after waiting over 2 hours and noticing others going before us, “we’re taking non emergency patients. “ Ignorant. So let the serious patients sit and suffer. No wonder the medical system is so screwed up. Who thinks up sick ignorance? I give them a -1 !! Terrible ! We wouldn’t be here, believe me, if it wasn’t serious!!

My father went in for a pacemaker a Doctor over his Doctor told him he did not need one and put some device under his skin a month later he is back getting a pacemaker because his heart beat is to low and was then. I'm thankful nothing serious happened to him with the Doctor who did not know what he was doing.

....... poor experience.. osu makes you pay to park everywhere.. must be someone's sick joke or way of taking money from every one and any one

They are great

My sister was sent here from Lima following her OBGYN neglecting her health. Most of the experience was okay but food was way too expensive whether in the vending machines or in-house Wendy's (which, by the way, was nasty and not worth what I paid for it). Worse than that though was that while my sister was recuperating post-delivery, she had to stay in bed because of heart problems, but some of the staff were criticizing her for not walking down to the nursery. No words...

I have a severe and serious case of tracheal stenosis. The staff has always admitted me promptly and took care of my stenosis right away. I have a case where many dilation are not working and my stenosis is returning rapidly. They are preparing me for a resection of my trachea. The surgeons, doctors, nurses and aides have all been kind, caring, compassionate, informitive and very skilled professionals. I feel I am in the best hands and recommend OSU Wexner Medical Center to anyone. The staff is phenomenal right down to dietary and housekeeping.

it was really big, nice and clean i personally loved it

My son was tranferred there from another hospital. He was immediately put in MICU. The staff were awesome. They kept me informed of everything they were doing . Thank you so much for all your outstanding job! Unfortunately my son didn't make it, butI know in my heart they did everything they could. He had the highest quality of nurses and aids and doctor. I can't thank you enough! We were only there for 2 days, but I was there the entire time with him. I hardly left the room and neither did the nurse on duty .

I don't even believe OSU hospital deserves one star. I went into labor with twins at 22 weeks and 2 days. I had to be 22 weeks and 5 days before they would try to stop it. I ended up delivering 2 stillborn babies just 12 hours after I was admitted. I asked for a growth ultrasound since I was only 3 days away from getting help and I was denied one. The nurse said I could talk to the pediatric NICU team of doctors and I wanted to wait until my husband got there. We asked to talked to them and they said they would see me in the morning. By the time morning came it was to late. Of course I have hard feelings because my twins passed but they acted like I was just another number. The only thing OSU did was check for my babies heartbeats when I arrived, took my blood twice, and did a few sets of vitals. I know the chances were low but the fact they did nothing and acted like they didn't care is the part that I can't understand. Dr. Wagner was on the night I got there and she basically said if they were 3 days older they would intervene. My last ultrasound the tech said they were measuring a few days ahead of my due date but never changed it. I guess they have their reasons but when they didn't even try to stop my labor is when I lost faith in them. I will never step foot in OSU hospital again.

Came in as a transfer from another hospital dat in waiting room for over 8 hours staff is rude I'm termanaly I'll and diabetic I'm currently here right now in a room I been waiting on for 8+hours that is small dirty and I think they are trying to store meat back here it's so cold that refused to give me insulin treatment or food while waiting in there very small waiting room with dirty bathrooms empty vending machines and rude staff I'm about to walk out and go back to riverside where I cane from

We waited in the ER for 7 hours before keeping my Dad. Two days later he is still on the first floor due to not enough beds and rooms. Hopefully he gets a decent room after surgery. However a year ago my grandma was there due to a stroke and they took wonderful care of her. And they are at least giving my Dad the surgery he needs when no other hospital has helped him. Also security guards are very nice and polite.

Cissy Mac

Terrible. I never had a more horrendous patient experience. The nurses don't respond for about a hour if you need assistance and the sanitation of this hospital is questionable. My son who has special needs was treated poorly at this facility. It took housekeeping over two hours to come and clean his restroom, which was very disturbing because he was taking medication to produce a bowel movement. So he was forced to use the visitors restroom down the hallway. If he had a accident the nurses left sheets for me to make the bed!? No one sanitized his bed not one time. I could go on forever but I won't. There were several situations that I found to be quite disturbing. So it goes without saying that I left the hospital and will be taking him to Cleveland Clinic where I know he will receive a much better level of care. The bottom line is this. This hospital has a bad culture, terrible patient care, and questionable hygiene practices. I wouldn't recommend this facility to anyone.

Wife was in preterm labor we sit in triage for over 3 hours... Most uncomfortable chairs and beds.. Staff almost to the point they come off rude..They come in the room tell us they are waiting on a room to open up...But it will be awhile before it opens.. 3 hours already i mean i understand being thorough but this is ridiculous then to not even offer anything to drink to myself or my wife is out of hand

Shital Patil

Poor Experience... My wife had 38 week pregnancy and having lot of contraction pain.. doctor checking method is ridiculous and painful..not having enough experience to handle situations.

Michael Wells

Stay away from this hospital. Sat for 2 hours before anyone came in. Then 2 doctors came in at 2 different times asking the same questions. Did blood work the first time and came back 1 hour later to do blood work again. Nuse said she be in at a certain time but came in 30 minutes after the stated time . Room was dirty and the drinking water was cloudy. Avoid this one at all cost.

My Daughter has been there once a week for the past month, and they keep sending her home before she is better that is why he has been there so many times in a month. I have called there to talk to to the Nurse Supervisors and the Patience Experience but NOBODY SEEMS TO CARE. BUT I AM SURE IF THIS WAS ONE OF THEIR LOVED ONES THEY WOULD BE TAKEN BETTER CARE OF. SUCH A SAD WORLD. She is there now. I just Pray and hope to God that she dont have to go back. Please say a Prayer for Us.. Thank you

Seems like a great place. My father goes there for his cancer. And my mother-in-law is in there on a ventilator form viral pneumonia. They saved her life.

Been here since 10am it’s is now 1:36 pm no one even called for me to get back there. The lazy guys at the visitor desk clearly don’t care about patients, also new people come in and they taken back right away. This is the worse hospital.

Ripping people off. Sending fake bills for the services they did not do. I spent 4 to 5 hours after being transfered from an accident to EMS, I have a bill in my hand for $29,000.00. Unprofessional staff and expensive simple services. Some kids running the show in EMS without being supervised. Watch and pay attention to their fees before you enter to any medical facility.

Kay OGrady

My daughter's labor and delivery experience at OSU Hospital was terrible. The waiting room and restrooms were filthy. I was there for 2 days and never saw one housekeeping person. The same trash was on the floor for 2 days. My daughter's "birthing" room was not much better. Hair balls and dust bunnies on the floor. The nurses and anesthesiologist were compassionate and caring, much more so than the doctor. Needless to say, since her experience, we have heard many horror stories regarding The Ohio State University Hospital. Very disappointing!

I love this hospital system!! My experience has been amazing. From the first office visit all the way to my post op appointment. Every employee has been friendly, caring and helpful! Employees in registration at the James to the nurses in Neurosurgery office, employees in surgery center, and techs/nurses in Rhodes Hall PACU. Also those who work at Martha Morehouse. I can't thank everyone I came in contact with enough!!! Thank you all!

We have had both a really great experience and a terrible experience here. The general med section of the hospital we were at 2 years ago was atrocious. Most of the staff was apathetic and unengaged. That area of the hospital seems to be a calamity of errors. On the other hand, the labor and delivery and postpartum divisions are spectacular. Every nurse we had the pleasure of meeting was genuinely caring, knowledgeable and you could tell they really wanted to be there. The pediatric doctors are friendly and patient. My wife and newborn baby were taken great care of. The charge nurse even stopped by one day to make sure we were satisfied with our treatment. I would highly recommend having your baby there... just don't go to the gen med or ER. The food is still terrible throughout the hospital though. Pack a lunch.

DO NOT GO HERE. I came in because of hyperemesis gravidarum. Which means I am pregnant but having extreme morning sickness. I had been throwing up all day and couldn’t even keep water down. I was miserable. I waited in the lobby for 4 HOURS while puking and crying. My boyfriend got upset and asked them what was taking so long, since I was pregnant and dehydrated. They told him I hadn’t been called back yet because I was “under observation” whatever the hell that means. It made me feel as if they were not taking me seriously or they thought I was lying. Very unprofessional and rude to my boyfriend. They told him that he was being rude. Of course he was upset because the mother of his child was not getting taken care of properly while person after person went in before me even if they checked in after me. They told me it wasn’t first come, first serve, but the severity of your condition. I guess a pregnant woman who can’t stop throwing up and was severely dehydrated wasn’t “severe” enough. We ended up leaving and going to Westerville, where they IMMEDIATELY took me back and put me on an IV and treated me with kindness, as if I mattered. I will never return to OSU.

Unless you have a simple issue such as a broken arm or a cut needing stitches stay away from osu. The nurses have too many patients, the doctors don't listen to the patient or patient family. My mom was hospitalized in May. There for 3 weeks and released wits no diagnosis. Back again 2 months later with same symptoms and still no diagnosis with another stay in hospital foe 30 days. Three weeks after being released symptoms come again. They keep her for 2 days and ship.her off to nursing home and still nothing determined. So frustrating she had to s of blood work completed multiple MRIS snd cat scans. Hope others have better success.

The Ohio State University is tied for position for worse hospital. (Grant Hospital being the other) At Ohio State expect to get the run around. I just wasted an hour on the phone trying to get the results of my x-rays faxed over to my family doctor (which they should of been able to do on their own.) But when I finally spoke to the person in charge THEY REFUSED TO RELEASE MY RECORDS!!!!! Which is illegal!!! Do not go to this hospital if you don't have to....

Kenneth Minniear

The ER Suck, no Sense of urgency. And alot of walking in the halls with nothing. Just walking back and forth. Been here 6 hours and no one has ask me for my insurance card. I've never seen so unorganized and the lay out of the unit. I also worked in a hospital for 15. But that was 8 years ago. But this Er Suck. Plus while I was asking a nurse a question he couldn't answer mind because of another nurse interrupting us. So I never got answer. Just rude staff with no urgency. They dont seem to care about us. Just making that dollar.

Zaid G

Took them 6 hours to refer me to a GI. Did not provide any services during this time besides basic blood work. Doctor came and finally talked to me for 1.5 minutes about the meds i have no take, told me to see a GI, and left. Was charged $1000 for that visit, for basically nothing in return. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

I was misdiagnosed 2 times here, continuously told I was mentally ill, when I had a physical injury, resulting in 3 years of being unemployable when I could have been back to work in less than 30 days. When I first went in, I INSISTED they check my spine for damage with my recent accident history with vehicles and a slip and fall. I was unable to feel half my body, told everyone this, and continuously got looks of confusion and disbelief. Instead of listening to me, and maybe taking a look at my spine, which I kept insisting time after time. They kept dismissing me and prescribing addictive medications, and diagnosing me as a mentally ill psych case. This process went on 6 months before I had been shamed so many times by people in the medical industry in central Ohio that I had to stop seeking help. Some statements that stand out “you need to quit having temper tantrums” - Nurse at OSU, said when my body was shaking uncontrollably on ONE side only, the reason I was there. “There are people that actually need to be here, this isn’t your personal gym.” Kathleen A. Jones PT in Delaware on a day with 3 people in the roughly 3000 sq. ft. office space. O.S.U. Started this nightmare though, by diagnosing me with Catatonia, implanting the idea in all my future doctors heads that I’m just mentally ill and no one should look at my spine. For 3 years I was unable to work, unable to seek unemployment or disability due to this medical diagnosis. I could not explain to anyone what was going on, EVERY PERSON outside of the “medical professional” environment said it sounds like nervous system or spinal cord issues. In May of 2019 my neck cracked, immediately returning feeling to all of my left side. I’ve been improving steadily without any help from the doctors that have no clue what they are doing at this mess of a hospital. I’ve sought help out at other doctors who say I likely did have a badly pinched spinal cord, luckily because that means no permanent damage. What is so sad, heart breaking, is that if the neurologist that Mis-diagnosed me, had taken the time to truly evaluate my condition, I could have been back to work with minimal muscular system damage within weeks of the initial visit. Instead this diagnosis marked me as an incurable lost caused that doctors kept pumping full of barbiturates until I couldn’t think. This is almost as bad as what was happening in the mental health hospitals in the early 20th century. Someone goes in with a physical problem THAT COULD HAVE SIMPLY BEEN SOLVED IF THEY WERE NOT MARKED AS MENTALLY ILL, and then get put on mind numbing medications so they can’t even tell anyone what they are going through, and they do no one will believe them. I have a voice again, please hear me and know if you have a loved one that is hurting, listen to them and help them. Drive them to the Cleveland clinic. Take them to Grady locally. “OSU has turned into the Seattle Grace of Ohio. Doctors who are looking for things that aren’t there, who won’t take the time to listen to the patient that is telling them what is wrong.”

Krissie S.

I had a major gallbladder surgery and it went as well as it possibly could. These doctors are the brightest minds in the country. I was very happy with them respecting my personal requests. The Post OP Nurse Robert R. was AMAZING, he is the nurse you want to wake up to in the recovery room. Thank you again!

Michiea Love

Horrible I'm so upset I came here to deliver my child. Worst experience ever!! This hospital is worse than Grant. I will stick with Riverside from now on. From the staff, the dirtiness to the food I hate this hospital. I want to just leave now smh this is so sad.

Shannon McNamara

I was transferred here from a local hospital due to my doctors not knowing what to do with me at my local hospital. I have MS and was recovering from cellulitis. Nurses were (mostly) great. Place is FILTHY. Doctors there are horrible and not compassionate. They did nothing for me. I will not return and honestly wouldn't take my dog or cat there. Just go anywhere else for care. I have contacted their patient helper or whatever they are called... no results. :( I expected more from a "top" hospital.

Emily Spurlin

Stayed overnight waiting for my nephew to arrive. The nurse helping my sister was really generous and courteous to her and us. However, the furniture in the labor waiting area is awful. Even sitting there for an hour was difficult with how uncomfortable the furniture is. Ended up waiting 10 hours and left with my neck, back, and shoulder hurting. Also please take some WD40 or something to the door used to enter the waiting area. People kept going through it what felt like every 15min and it got annoying fast with how squeaky it is. Lastly all night I was there it seems like the bathrooms were untouched in the vending room, one bathroom having no toilet paper at all, despite seeing the cleaning lady enter it at different times throughout the night. Last time I went to the bathroom, I saw her on her phone sitting in the vending area. Idk their schedule so maybe I got it wrong, just thought it was odd.

BettyofCols

I was in an isolation room that was filthy dirty!

Mel Fox

Great doctors. Front line and call center staff need more efficiency and customer service training. 4th time paperwork for my family has not went were it has needed to go..

Alexis Williams

Why is it that when your schedule for an induction they wait to the last minute and call you and say they need to delay you a few hours later and then not know exactly when a few hours later is because not only did you wait for this wonderful day But you was up and ready out the door! I’m so disappointed right now and I have family who schedule this day off and came from out of town and everything just to hear that I understand stuff happens but sheesh could of atleast called last night and said it was packed not 6:30 am when I was already heading there! That’s so unprofessional and yet I’m still waiting for a call or something! Then I’m told it can be SERVAL HOURS UP TO 12 HOURS! I Don’t Know If I Will Ever Deliver Here Again After This....

The worst ER I have ever been too, and with my athletic injuries I’ve been to several ERs. The staff apparently cannot tell you wait times but will let you wait for hours in the waiting room with no communication. No care for the patients waiting in pain. How does THE Ohio state university hospital who apparently is so high rated so terrible. Add some beds and doctors and get people in and out. There is NO reason someone should wait 3+ hours to be seen with no communication from anyone. Like our time and lives don’t matter. I’d rather pay more out of my pocket than go to this place where insurance is covered.
