REVIEWS OF Miami Valley Hospital IN Ohio

I'm not from around here. My bf had an injury at work at the suncoke plant in Middletown. Was sent to the ER they stitched a dead finger back on his hand and told him to wait to see the hand specialist next week. Well obviously with absolutely no reconstruction of the finger that had been in ice the whole time by the time we got to the specialist 4 days later the finger was black and unsalvageable. The nurses in the OR and the Recovery seemed as if it was their first day on the job with absolutely no education. I was in shock by how uneducated and uninformative they actually were. Got in the surgery waiting room at noon left the recovery close to 9pm. They said everyone was on schedule and according to the mychart he was only in surgery a lil over an hour. I dont recommend this hospital to anyone that would have to use it that lives nearby. I only hope their are other options for you guys to use.

I was there for 3 days, in those 3 days I was told different things that I was suppose to get done. The nurses acted like they had no common sense, and I heard good things about this hospital so I was shocked the way my care was treated. I would ask for something and would take forever to get it or they would forget about it. The surgeons were great. The nurses I had was horrible. (I was on the 6th floor).

Enya Overholser

They released a mentally ill patient who was pinked slipped to the hospital by crisis care. Patient has not been on medication for 4 months. Would not bring your family here because they will not take good care of them.

Brutus Chewbaca

Nothing never answered my concerns There were a few nasty nurses too went in because I had a stroke every time I asked a a question was told they would get back with you but they never did

ashish rai

simply awesome.. All staff very good and courteous..

Don Kessler

From the time my wife came by care flight to the day she went home. I couldn't even thank the staff enough for the dedication and dicipline on themselves to making sure my wife was taking care of. Precise on the times for meds etc.... Truly awesome. I was wowed by them. Setting the bar that high and going beyond that. Makes me speechless. Thanking you all doesn't even cover how I feel. Keep up the great work. Keep the bar set high. Love you all.

A doctor at this hospital ruined the remainder of my mother's life. They gave her too much pain medication and she hasn't been able to walk or speak correctly since. Horrible place and I would never trust this hospital again.

Transfered up from Miami South for a MRI. Instead of the promised transport back to South and my car they attempted to hand me a bus token at 9:30PM on the first snowy night of the year to make my own way back to South. Discharge a person who spent all day in the ER into the snow with only a light jacket? What were you thinking?!

Mahdi Issa

Parked in the visitors section accidentally to see a doctor and the lady let me through without paying the fee. Service and staff were friendly and I was quick to get in

Pam Hamilton

Can a restraining order be placed on someone when a patient is in hospital. Wouldn't the other person need to get paperwork in mail or served one at house. Or is the hospital lying to the Alzheimer's home. How do I find out. This has my friend really upset. She just found out. He's been out of hospital for months. Now they have stopped her from seeing him at any facilty. I'm not going to ask him. He's in a Alzheimer's facility. Someone or family member is lying.

I went into the ER and the admittance nurses were very short and rude. They made me feel like I was a bother to them. The doctor that checked me behaved the same way. He said there was nothing wrong with me. I asked for a chest xray and he exclaimed that there was nothing wrong with me and my insurance would probably not pay for it because he listened to my lungs and they were clear. He agreed to give me a chest xray only to prove to me that there was nothing wrong with me. A different doctor, that was a lot more polite, came to me with my diagnosis. He explained that my xray showed what looked like pneumonia. But my nurse was very compassionate and understanding.. Maybe because the Dr. made me cry because of the way he made me feel. I won't go back to Miami Valley ER.

I recently had to stay a week in the hospital at Miami Valley. I can only speak for the neurology wing of the hospital but the staff was exceptional. I live about 40 minutes away and if I ever need to go to the hospital again, this is where I will be going. It's worth the drive. The food was good too.

Tim Kilpatrick

Overall the care was good. But when I went into surgery the nurse insisted going thur my stuff after I was asleep getting my glasses and dentures. They lost my dentures and wont replace them. Because of head of Human Relations dept Nathan and the report saying they was satisfied that I was in the wrong., There is more than one to skin a cat.

Being new to the area and having a bad experience with a different er I the past, I called to check on the er wait time as I needed sutures. The operator refused to let me speak to anyone in the emergency department trying to arbitrate my concerns on her own. I have a family (kids, puppy, spouse, ) and a job. So when I inquire about wait times for a very routine procedure and am told that this er doesn't respect my time, I gladly choose to take my business and health care elsewhere. Rude operator thank you for saving me the trouble, and I sure your hospital thanks you for saving them the revenue.

This hospital want my aunt to pay money for having give birth to her daughter and the stay when they made her stay there

Sally Mashburn

My father’s terminal care in this hospital was a the perfect mix of expertise and compassion . Our family especially appreciated the cardiologists and their staff.

I was in miami valley hospital on Aug 16. For a heart cath I did need a stent so had to spend the night. I gave them a list of my meds, also they are in my chart. Friday night I only got a aspirin when I should of gotten 2 blood pressure pills potassium magnesium effient. I understand not getting effient. Around 11 I was getting really bad pvcs and it felt like my heart was going to jump out of my chest. I rang for nurse and said I need my blood pressure pills she said she would contact doctor it wasnt my doctor though. you will get them in morning. She says you have a history of pvcs. I said I get two at night. She took my blood pressure it was 189/86 before she called doc. They finally gave me one. Said I would get one in morning. When morning came there were no blood pressure pills. And because I didnt get potassium it was now low. So they had to put it in iv and magnesium. I called my husband to bring my meds. So I could get out of there. The doctor that came in said maybe I should stay. I said no im going home. Ive been trying to call the headof the hospital but not getting through. So if I could get a call to find out why this happened. I would appreciate it. My name is Susanne Wilson

I m in pain and been waiting for two hours and this hours none of the staff offer a s much as a aspiring, and if it wasn’t enough, I asked several times for a blanket with no success. I understand that they are busy but not even ask “are you ok” “can I get you some water” details like this is what makes the difference

Chris Hunter

Doctor Teel did a fabulous job. The entire hospital staff is/are professional, caring and personable.

Morgan Bush

Been to the ER here multiple times for my partner's reaccuring stomach issue and have not been taken seriously one time. Our recent trip we waited 8 hours through the night for a CT scan only to be told everything is fine and got sent home with no relief of symptoms or explanation of condition.

Matt Helm

They are not thorough whatsoever. nurses always too busy gossiping. I gad a stroke a year afterva car accident I was hospitalized there for. They didnt't do any scans and repeatedly dismissed it as a concussion. If I hadnt recovered as well as I have from the recent stroke. You better believe there would be a lawsuit.

Everything the single star reviews say is true. Stay away from this ghetto hell hole both in Dayton, Centerville and Englewood. If you're new to the area, Kettering Medical Center is the best hospital in this area. I've already told my wife to send me KMC in an ER situation.

Grey Skies

Quick and efficient triage based on my given social security number and name instead of ID and insurance card. After I was placed in a private room admitting arrived and took my details while I waited to be seen. There was a bit of a wait in the room, but considering it was labor day weekend Sunday, and I had a quiet place to chill out and read that was more than acceptable. I was in and out in a bit over 2 hours, which I had not anticipated. I had almost driven much further away for a smaller emergency room i knew was very quick (my insurance's nurse hotline told me that should be fine). Everyone was friendly kind and reassuring, I even have a souvenir snap of my glowing eye under blacklight. In future I will not hesitate to use the ER that is closest to me.

Dennis Schweizer

The nurses here are awesome!!!! Every single person that works here was a pleasure to be around, made being here for a week better

Maya Wrightsman

The nurses had terrible attitudes, after telling them what was wrong with me several times all they said it was was a cold until a doctor then said it was bronchitis, then between waiting literally an hour to hear anything every time they left my room, the xrays came back and it was actually pneumonia. One nurse couldnt even spell my street name after i already spelled it out loud 3 times. Awful experience.

Christina Gilbert

Er nurse that check me in was rude no empathy her bedside manner was horrible

Zercal Sworts

The nurses are rude lying thieves I have a friend that's been in Miami Valley Hospital as an inpatient many times word to the wise don't leave anything there that someone else might want she's lost house slippers she's lost all kinds of Fixodent denture adhesive soap shampoo deodorant my God the list of some of the stuff that she said come up nothing is enormous and whenever you trying to complain to anyone about it whatever they say well this is a hospital you know... But no I don't know it's supposed to be a place where you can trust people with your life and whenever small things like that get filtered there's a serious problem... Do they not pay the nurses enough to buy their own hygiene products come on this is ridiculous my advice is don't leave anything they're not even your clothes... I've lived in the Dayton Ohio area for 55 years and I'm seriously moving out of the region just because of the situations that I've had evolved in any of the medical establishments in dayton Ohio... The Exodus of all the good medical professionals started in 2008 and now we're left with a bunch of young and experienced doctors and nurses... Anytime you're there just look around and notice most of the doctors and nurses are 25 years older younger what's up with that??????

Jack Dullahan

Best hospital around.

Fernando Jones

As a child mother birth me at this hospital.

machele29

During this particular visit, the nurses were more personable. They didn't seem to be pre-occupied with other things. They made me feel like I mattered.

Mark E

My father was admitted to this awful hospital on 7/27/2019. Thus far the care has been terrible. We waited for over 5 hours until a dr. saw my father when we were told that it would be about 15 minutes. The nurses don't respond to alarms. The IV was alarming for at least 15 minutes until anyone showed up. We pushed the call button but they just ignored us so they could sit at their nurses station and gossip or read magazines. Any time we asked a question the nurses became defensive and acted as if we were imposing on them for them to do their job. My father needed a stat ECG and it was over 2 hours until the tech. arrived to do the procedure. The nurses would usually challenge any request such as an explanation for the request for a reason for labs, etc. The nurses were rude and frequently used profane references such as the only thing that comes from Texas is "steers and queers" and "I want to look at your junk". We are a Christian family and that was completely inappropriate. Overall this was the worst hospital I have ever seen. Even though my father is old, that is no reason to abandon him as occurred at this hospital. Our goal is to remove our father as quickly as possible from this horrible place so he can be home again and away from this hospital

Randy Shelton

Gave it a 1 because there is no zero option to write a review. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE PSYCH ISSUES. I suffer from DEPRESSION, ANXIETY PANIC ATTACK, andv SUICIDAL THOUGHTS. One time they sent me home because I'm depressed. The last visit after seeing two Med students, hitting my head in front of the nursing station, they did nothing to stop me, they discharged me in less than 10 hours. Dayton PD pink tagged me was given no choice but go back for re-evaluation. I've been beating myself in the head, no restraint no meds to sedate me. The doctor asks me no questions and stats " I will not insult the doctors and put you on their floor". Now I know why they call it DEATH VALLEY.

Shelby Rehmert

I have had 3 children at the Valley 2009 experience great, 2010 experience great, 2011 less than acceptable. They no longer provide wash or shampoo, had to ask for room to be cleaned, had to ask for towels every time I wanted a shower. The staff 1 out of 4 staff were good. Some staff told me what time they got off shift, as to prepare me that near that time do not ask for anything. Some staff would yell things through a half opened door, as though I did not have an infant in my room. I am sad to say that I was highly disappointed. I wish someone had warned me that so much had changed, I would have looked into other options. When I provided feedback to hospital I was told it was because of cut backs and insurance. I would encourage you to look around and ask many questions.

Tricia Bailey

Miami valley does not care about your health. The only thing they want is your money. They kick shooting victims out because they only care about is money. Goto mercy hospital instead. They are non profit and care about your health.

Maria Keltner

Thank you all for your friendliness and helpfulness to my 92 year old grandfather he stayed on the 8th floor, our night nurse Stephanie and our day nurses Kaitlyn and Lisa were awesome so kind him and my 89 year grandma who is convinced she does not need her hearing aids

Martha Miller

I just left MVH and had my foot Xrayed and no fractures. I got in right away and had my Xray taken within 3 mins. I wasn't paying attention leaving and the lady asked me would i like a token for the gate. That was very nice! About 10 mins later MVH called me back to tell me there is a image in my toe and not my foot. So they just wanted me to know what they saw. Everyone was very nice!

Fares Akram

Don't go there they don't want to treat you they only care about money

Jenn Brown

Incredible Service! This may seem like a small thing to others, but it was a big deal to me. My mother was a patient at Miami Valley a few years ago and received two plastic, 28 ounce mugs. She gave me one. And I used it until it broke years later. I called the hospital to see if they knew where I could get one. I talked to a few departments, understandable... it was a strange request. In the end, I found the mug online. But the amazing thing was that the Hospital Representatives were very helpful and even called me back about this seemingly little request. KUDOS to the Hospital's level of customer service!! And a special thanks to Valerie in Sourcing!!

Anthony McIver

Went to Miami Valley hospital on Thursday it's the WORST HOSPITAL in DAYTON OHIO. Premier health should've CLOSED MIAMI VALLEY instead of GOOD SAMARITAN HOSPITAL.

Sheila Dozier

My mother was there in Emergency for bowel problems and the service was terrible. Did not see a doctor until we were walking out the door.

Kristina Sandlin

Dr. Teel and the staff was fantastic. I had surgery, my father had surgery and my mother is having surgery today. The hospital staff and the doctors were all great!

Meg Melampy

Everyone there has been so professional and compassionate. Very dedicated to what they do.

Dawn Cundiff

The best trauma team, ANYWHERE So it's a hospital, don't know too many people that like to go to them, but this one is absolutely the best!

eric kirker

Mother in law was moved from mv north to mv dayton with severe heart problems on a friday night. Her heart would stop for 8 seconds at a time. It happened 7 times just in the ambulance ride. She had sever afib, bi-Gemini, racing pulse, you name it. On sunday morning they had to electroshock her as her pulse went to 185. They didn't actually do anything of substance to her until 2pm on monday. I hope some administrators get to watch their loved ones suffer for that long worring with each passing moment if that is their last. Dont get me wrong. The nurses were great. The front line people did an awesome job keeping her alive long enough for somebody above them to come to work and do something.

Bradley Olson

3$parking everytime you visit is terrible. Just add it as an expense to the hospital bill sent to the insurance

Elizabeth Wickham

Took care of my Mom! I miss her every day of my life! I love you Mom!

Dominique Demerle

Burn Unit staff is incredible and Dr Perry is fantastic. They work very hard to keep you as comfortable as possible and they obviously care very much. Their wound care team try their best to brighten your day and the night shift nurses go above and beyond. Their maternity ward is also fantastic. They seem to be dismissive when coming in while pregnant with an issue but when it's time to have a baby they are ready and they really do their very best. The nurses and midwives are great during labor and postpartum. I loved my after care nurses.

Kim Brown

I was hit by a car recently and was taken to Miami Valley hospital, where I got the best of care from the time I came in to the time I left the hospital.. The staff was awesome, the surgeon's, nurse's, Doctors and the Physical therapy team and anyone else I forgot to add that helped me through that ruff and difficult time. They were very patient with me and pushed me not to give up when something was to hard for me to do.. I just want to say thank you Miami Valley staff for helping me.

farhat Hasan

Babar hasan physiatrist at Miami Valley Hospital

Joe Ullmer

Been here quite a few times in last two years, always great results!! Thank you much!

Harold Balczac

Great place to get MRSA. Had 2 surgeries here 8 years ago, only for both of them to backfire and to suddenly catch an infection in my right leg. Then the infection suddenly came back in the same spot in my leg long after it had healed.

Kelly Dailey

Thank God I've never given birth here from all the horror stories I've heard. But my mother was bitten by a poisonous spider .. she works at Springfield hospital full time and Urbana hospital part time she was seen by both ER's and they sent her off with BS antibiotics that had no effect. She finally went to valley (we live two seconds away) and they admitted her and pumped her full of IV antibiotics which is what she needed. Took good care of my mother and made her feel comfortable. Thank you. They also have saved her life few years back and discovered her heart problem.

K. S.

worst I have ever been treated in an emergency room ever. Was transported there by ambulance from another hospital for an MRI and had to wait for almost 5 hours to have it done, went almost 17 hours without food or drink, almost 5 hours after the doctor said I could have whatever I wanted and the nurse would get it. This better NOT be the new norm since they closed Good Sam. Was released without pain medicine and was told after I demanded to be released that I could be paralyzed if I left. I said being paralyzed would be better than waiting on them to do their job!

Shuting Song

Had a baby here with my OGBYN, who's office is here at the Berry Woman's Center. It was a great experience, made possible mostly by my doctors and a few of the nurses that cared for me. During my stay 08/31/15 - 09/02/15 I had a good experiences in the delivery room with top notch nurses/anesthesiologists taking care of me throughout, plus my doctor listened to my request to deliver me vaginally, unassisted, without the use of a vacuum or forceps. A decision I'm glad he respected. After delivery I was moved to the postpartum room and here my service went down a little bit. To be honest the day nurse was cold and seemed too busy, she was blunt and not very comforting. However the night nurse was THE best taking care of my baby in the nursery and engaging with us ( husband and I) on a real personal level. She made the stay wonderful. Worst part was the construction during the day. Construction was going on, on the floor above me and it was terrible. Noise all day, drilling, hammering and sanding. Not a calm place to rest after birth. But hopefully it will be better for me next time. Billing was okay, I pre-paid at check-in. But was still visited by a financial lady on the last day. Her mistake, she realized after we said something, and she apologized. But felt a little strongarmed and if we were a more passive couple who knows, we might have been overcharged. Overall 3/5 stars, -1 because of the construction -1billing & soso nurses. I will be back for my next baby, because my doctors are great and I will request the same good nurses I had. Hopefully construction will be done too.

Speaks foritself

Myka Thompson

The emergency room is horrible....I was in the waiting room for 3 hours and then when I got back to the room and they did the exam and left me in the room did not come back did not check on me nothing for over an hour....I got here at 12:45 and did not leave until 5:45 all for something that took them and hour to do...smh I don't understand how they think it's going to work when good Sam closes down

Bonnie Morris

Excellent start to finish. Grateful and blessed. Thank you.

Muhammed Zahid

They charged me more than 1300 dollars!!!! after I went to the ER but with without any blood tests or x-rays and they didn't even put me in a room it was just a bed in a hallway just took my blood pressure and temp.

Nina Washington

Here with a family member. Mixed feelings. Wish they hadn't closed Good Samaritan Hospital

Doug Perdue

I would give it less if it would let me. I recently had a doctors visit at Miami Valley hospital and I was double charged $75 for my visit with the doctor and $100 from the hospital. I went in for a 10 minute visit with insurance. I was aware of the $75 fee from my doctor , but was not aware that I would have to pay $100 service fee for walking through the front door

Daniel Risner

I want to thank the ICU staff for treating my mother for the last few weeks. They were all incredibly kind, compassionate, and informative. The social worker team helped set up the next steps for her care and made the transition process a lot less stressful.

Todd Gunter

not impressed

Jerri Bittner

They saved my life.I had a brain aneurysm. Had the best Doctor and the very bast care.

Charles Yates

Perfect great caring staff.very profectional

Shawnte Johnson

Im here today for the birth of my grandbaby. For the most all of the staff was excellent especially Autumn. She is awesome. Now, on the other hand, Brandy wasn't as pleasant . The atmosphere changed once she came on shift. It was like wiping the smiles right off our faces. We are supposed to be excited about a new baby. I guess we only felt like that when she wasn't in the room.

Winter Patterson

In February of 2010, I arrived by ambulance at the ER. Wish I could tell you more, but I don't even remember the ride there. But it seems safe to say that the ER staff worked a miracle because I'm here to write the review! Next, it was time for a few days in Critical Care. I'm 57, have been in many hospitals over the years, and have never, EVER received such excellent care as in this CCU! It was outstanding. The same can be said for the rest of my stay, which was in Pulmonary Services. Each and every member of that staff was caring, professional and inspired great confidence -- this part was truly amazing as I had mostly given up on Western medicine years ago. That completed my tour. I cannot come up with a single complaint. If your life is on the line as mine was (from a combination of pneumonia, diabetic ketoacidosis and an oxygen level of less than 50 upon arrival), insist that you be taken to Miami Valley Hospital. Bless them all!

Clearing Paths

My husband had an accident was brought there. At first they were great always on top of everything. However, the longer he stayed the worst he was treated in the trauma unit. I was so glad when he was transferred out of that unit. Even if he is on his death bed I will take him to any other hospital before this one again.

Nathaniel Ivan

The quality of care is great but I had to wait 30 minutes past my appointment time before I spoke to anyone.

Antonio Clark

This is and has always been my hospital. Very caring staff & doctors for the patients.

Tim King

This is got to be worse hospital in ohio. Only care bout money. My girlfriend who just had our baby was transferred up here because she was having high blood pressure after we went home from the birth. The nurse's are sit around talking didn't see a doctor for the whole stay of 24hrs. Nurse's tell you something then it changes did no test to see why her blood pressure is high . I wouldn't take my dog there. Miami valley hospital is a BANDAID HOSPITAL FULL OF BROKEN PROMISES ND APOLOGIZES THAT IS SUPPOSE BE A SPECIALTY HOSPITAL FOR THESES THINGS

Joan Parker

I spent a couple of days in the Behavioral unit. The staff met all my needs and I really liked nurse Melody. I felt very safe and I will return there if I need further mental help.

Pamela Rothrock

The night staff nurse's anything but nice, very rude and not friendly at all. I have no idea why I pick MVH to have my child I would not recommend going there at night to deliver.

Ian Pecqueux

My wife had been waiting in the er waiting room for 4 in a half hours before seen. She was shot years back long story short so some of her pellets migrated to her tailbone and it was extremely painful for her, they offered her a shot and didn't seem to care to much about what she was saying, horrible experience.

Veronica Murphy

Amazing. Staff is all so lovely and nice. Treated me wonderful. Took care of me and my unborn child from the moment I walked in the door.

Ryan McCoppin

My wife is a nurse here, so I know patient care is

Robbie Suttles

The pediatric center at Berry women's center in Miami valley Hospital is an amazing place the ladies working in there today where so friendly and helpful. Everyone had a smile on there face and we just found out that we are having another baby and we are already 12 weeks along. I'm so excited!!!!

Andrew Lange

Staff are rude.

Belinda Cobb

Nurses War okay but the doctors could not get together on a diagnosis I left Miami Valley and went kettering found that was matter in less than two hours I was admitted it was fixed and I was out in three days

Pamela Cole

Very nice place,,,staff is super friendly and helpful . I will recommend it to anyone who wants a better place for great medical care

Kirstin Fetters

I've always thought this was a decent hospital until the past couple visits. They kept getting worse and worse. I had surgery on my leg and they wouldn't follow pain med schedule, and if I pushed the nurse call button, it took 2 hours to even get a response! Every single time. My husband had to track them down several times just to get help. The nurses acted like they didn't know a thing. Awful awful care this past week. I will not go back

Laid Back Fan

I've been here twice for diabetes-related stuff. The staff were mostly nice and professional (I think the difference was the time of day. If you're admitted at night, don't expect service as good as the day staff), and they actually made serious efforts to help me get insured, and actually be able to pay for my own meds so I don't end up there again in a few months.

Sherry Trick

I would like to say a personal thank-you to the staff in ICU. Tonight you put forth a heroic effort, we could not have asked for anything more. The staff was very professional, caring and truly sympathetic for our loss. There were angels in room number 4504, all of them were wearing scrubs.

Eric Mcfarland

On the advice of my family doctor I went to the Orthopedic center I was in sever pain from Planter Fascitis and after spending 3 hours there an exam, Xrays I got a rubber band and told to take some Tylenol. it was a total waste of my time and money. Without a doubt the WORST care Ive ever seen. If you have a real problem and need care DON'T go to Miami Valley ! Their only interest is taking your money.

johnieshia lampkin

They take so long to take care a patient I had a real bad ear infection and it took them 2 hrs to come and treat me. I didn't like my experience. I refer everyone to go to Kettering medical center cause Miami valley hospital isn't a good hospital to go to.

Jessica Shockley

Worst hospital experience of my life. If I could give them NEGATIVE stars I would. Please consider another option for delivering your baby.

John Coppolella

Dr. Zaman saved my life.

Brittany Hayes

Imm sitting in the surgery room and housekeeping just reached through my closed curtain and threw God knows what from God knows where in my trash can. Cross contamination along with multiple other offenses im calling and reporting them. Can't even rest in peace because the staff is so childish and unprofessional and they had the nerve to close good sam. Guess what u are the new good sam

Levanna Neal

My Dad was in this hospital in September. The surgeon and Doctors that preformed his surgery were amazing but this hospital is a mess. Do not go there. They are understaffed and have nurses bouncing all over the place. When they gave me my Dads discharge papers no one went over anything. I ask the nurse about his medications and she was very confused she looked like she was on drugs. The discharge papers sent home had 1 medication incorrect and wrong dosage on another. The hospital had to email the correct discharge paperwork to me the next day. The hospital also sent my dad home with a pacing wire still attached to his heart. He had to go back to the hospital the next day and have the surgeon remove. The surgeon stated this was just stupid that he was sent home like this. There is very little if any security. No one checks you going in. There are people hanging out all around the hospital and going in to use the facilities. My father was in intensive care and I went in many times and no one questioned who I was except 1 time. There is supposed to be someone checking but there was someone there to check 1 time in the 4 or 5 days my Dad was there. It’s very scary especially considering all these people hanging outside and not in a very good area. I’m just warning people so they pick another hospital.

Bj Sheets

The care of my husband outstanding. He was in serious trouble. Everyone knowledgeable bright, had the ability to listen and to explain what I did not know; from technicians, the nurse's ,the aides the man who gave me directions in the little desk there with that smile and looking at me like it's going to be okay girl to the doctors to even the lady who took my parking token when I left the parking lot, all kind & Caring. They had the most important thing in my life and they took care of him. Gratitude! gratitude is what I have for each and every person that I met there.

Melissa Koulbou

This PLACE WILL STEAL YOUR BELONGINGS IF YOU LEAVE THEM BEHIND... SMH VERY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!

John Neace

the physician, and the nurses at Miami Valley hospital safed my life

Brian Hawkins

RIPOFF!!!! OK...the staff was great. But the billing is outrageous! They charged me $23,000.00 for IV saline! 4 bags x 4days/ $23,000.00 = $1437.50/bag. Give me a break..... Talk about a mark up..... This was not a critical case at all.

Kelli Jones

Worst hospital ever..

Why Me?

We have been waiting 3 hours for an update on my dad’s catheterization, he has a wound on his foot that hasn’t been taken care of since he’s been here since Saturday. If you have a relative who cannot speak for themselves please stay with them to make sure they are being taken care of.

Lisa Jane Thyberg

Went here to do mammogram in and out in 1/2 hour. Very fast, efficient, no pain, very professional!

Johnny Brown

Taking good care of my mom

Stephen Young

Unbelievably slow, took hours for me just to get discharged.

Pretty Penny

A family member was recently admitted to this hospital and when i visited the staff took so much good care of myself and my family memeber. You can just tell every staff member there loves their job and has a passion for their career. It gave me a reassurance that my family member was in good hands. I also admitted myself into the psych ward facility and my stay was really amazing. The nurses and psychiatrists were super compassionate and patient. I never experienced such and experience from a hospital before. It also helps that every staff member i came in contact with knew the lay out of the hospital because it is HUGE. That will be the only downside. You can grt lost easy and get frustrated fast. But they’re always ready to help. They also have a good little cafe with great pizza lol.

If I had to give a 0 rating I would. The doctors don't know what they are doing. They will kill you

This hospital’s billing department is horrible! I was out of town and needed to go to the emergency room back in 2015- I have insurance through Medicaid and a zero deductible. This hospital billed my insurance and didn’t provide them with the information my insurance needed to process the bill. My insurance needed something called a rendering Medicaid number. My insurance specified that every medical professional is required to have one yet the hospital told me that whatever doctor saw me that day didn’t have one out of state. This is not my problem!! This hospital should of told me this when I was seen but instead they sent me a bill almost two years later!!! This is completely ridiculous. Just because the people working for billing are incompetent and lazy and they couldn’t resolve it with my insurance it’s now my problem. So now the hospital has their collectors on my back. Their collectors told me they wouldn’t even call my insurance to try to resolve it that’s how lazy and rude they are. The woman at the hospital whom I spoke to completely brushed me off and wouldn’t help me along with their collectors. Their collector didn’t even tell me I have the option to dispute the bill and the woman from hospital billing wouldn’t even allow me to fully explain myself or take the time to explain the situation to me. This has been a she said he said game with this hospital my insurance and the collectors and this hospital should have been proactive and resolved this issue. At this point they need to write off the bill because it’s been over six months and my insurance is not going to pay for it because they failed to comply. Please go to another hospital because you will be hit with a ridiculous bill and rude service!!

ACTUALLY I WOULD NOT GIVE ANY STAR . TOTA L BUNCH OF RUDE PEOPLE!!! FULL OF PREJUDICE

Jamie Lynch

This hospital is absolutely amazing!!! The doctors, and the nurses are the most caring people I have ever came across in a hospital. They help make any hospital stay so much better!

Burt Ward

The staff is taking great care of my freind Andy! God bless.

Jennifer Moody

The doctors, nurses and staff were very helpful and nice. By far the best hospital in the Dayton area.

Ketta K

I will Not bring my Mother back and not Myself i was treated horrible Do Not go there if you suffer from depression, Anxiety Etc because everyone gets looked and treated the same . there police are now charging me because i had to defend myself from feeling harmed , I went there to get my meds adjusted and Not only did i Get attacked because i wanted to make a Phone call but there officers were abusive to a Person who has epilepsy . the supervisor doesn't care and honestly I dont either because you dont treat people like animals and laugh in they face . Im suffering from ptsd because im seeing these officers in my sleep doing actions to me, I be damned if i get charged with anything because people can't listen I came in on my own and Mvh police had an audience. Seek other help If you have any problems i Cant wait to fight this At Court

This is the worst maternity ward I’ve ever been in. First of all they have one chair in the room and it doesn’t recline or have a foot rest, then they have one folding chair and a oversized dresser with supplies in it. The room is small compared to all the other hospital maternity wards I’ve been to. I wouldn’t recommend anyone have a baby here. However the staff so far has been great.

Kiwi Kawaii RBLX

Welp they lied and told me my grandma was gonna be just fine but she died 2 minutes later. I hope they get shut down

Jourdan M

When I left work to go to the emergency room I had a choice of which hospital I wanted to go to. Kettering was the closest. But I decided to go to MVH because I had always had a great experience there, plus my PCP was in network with them; so anything they did would automatically be in my records. I have never been treated so rudely by medical staff!!! I had to wait almost 2 hours to been seen. I was put in the smallest room. Wrong size gown. I asked for socks (told they didn't have any but he just didn't feel like getting 18 18 them). Wasn't given a blanket/sheet and it was freezing in the room. . I was finally in my room. The doctor rushed me. I was registered, treated, and discharged in 36 minutes. He didn't even listen to me. It was like he didn't care what was wrong with me. He tried to give me medicine that I was already on. Did he even read my chart? When the nurse came to discharge me, I asked if my doctor's note was with my discharge papers. She rolled her eyes, scoffed, and said you have to ask the doctor for one. I told I had. She rolled her eyes and scoffed again and went to get the note. I should have looked at it then and there because when I got home my mom noticed she put the wrong date on the note If I can ever avoid going to MVH again, I sure will!! Oh, The lady security guard was nice

Ronnie B

In the city of Dayton this is the best hospital for emergency care especially for cardiovascular issues. If you have to visit a hospital in the city of Dayton this should be the prime choice. Staff is OK and treatment is what it is but they will do their job.

Adam Heil

This place sucks go to another Hospital

Jessica Harris

Like someone else said , "if i were able to give it less i would" I was treated so terrible at this hospital, & have so many complaints that im quite sure i will leave a few out , but ill do what i can to share my experience , Let me also say ive NEVER wrote a review , but if possible id like to spare someone from landing in the same predicament as im currently in. If i was not in such bad shape i would of left & went somewhere else the moment i was being wheeled back to the er and told "be quiet !! you cant be doing that while going down the hall" doing what you ask ?? Crying and whimpering like a child , while i agree its something nobody wants to hear , let me assure you its something i dont want to do, furthermore something i dont do! However i was in such intense , excruciating pain that i couldnt help myself from squealing and crying . Which i told the woman , she replied i could too help it bc i wasnt doing it the minute i came in the door ( i was crying when i came in, i suppose not as loudly ) once i got to my room , i will say i was seen rather quickly if not immediately by both the dr and nurse. I was totally honest and told them about my struggles with addiction which only made a bad situation worse. At that moment i was nothing more than a drug seeking junkie , lets be real , if i wanted drugs i could of got better ones alot easier on the streets !! While i did want them to manage my pain shorterm , I wanted them to determine what was causing the pain and treat it. Nevertheless i got admitted , continued to be treated poorly. One woman came in and said something like ohh yeah your the one with the alcohol troubles & then she left my room . i had been at the hospital since about 8am monday. By tues. Morning i was starving and the dr had told me to have some breakfast. So the next time the nurse came in i asked her when we ate ? She replied " ohh yea ill page your dr. You dont have a diet plan" so i suppose i missed breakfast, then lunch .. Again. Meanwhile they are telling me i need to take potassium pills or they wont allow me to go home bc my potassium is too low. I would press the nurse button and wait 15-20 minutes for her to come, which was a long time when i needed to use the bathroom and they had my wires all tangled around things so i couldn't get to the restroom most importantly but i couldnt get to the phone either, i basically was bedridden or "bunked" The nurses didnt help me with anything all they did was bring me meds (sometimes) one time i asked for my pain meds but fell asleep waiting for her to bring it and when i woke up a little bit later she said she had gave it to me while i was asleep. Hmmm ?? Eventually i left ama . they didnt try to stop me which i would of left anyway, but all they cared about was getting my iv out and me signing the ama paper which says a bunch of stuff and then there is a blank area where they write what can happen if you leave, & all she wrote was "death" . they truly should be ashamed of themselves !! They didnt care about me at all , it was very clear from the beginning, i felt so unwelcome and like a total burden to them. It was the worst hospitality ive ever seen, i would be so upset if i was ever in some kind of accident and woke up in that place !!They really should be ashamed of their lack of integrity & empathy.

Grandma Beth

Doctors, Nursing staff, food service all are great. They have all been extremely courteous and helpful.

anna pensworth

I have had several tests done at MVH outpatient and everyone who cared for me was so kind and competent and I just cannot say enough about the compassionate loving care I received at MVH!

Imad K

Don't let them fool you. I went to the ER around 8:00 PM to let them see my son since he had pain in his back. They didn't treat him very well, they didn't even help us to schedule an appointment with an orthopedic, instead they gave very strong pain medication and kept us waiting until 12:01 AM exactly so they can bill us for 2 days in the ER for no reason. SHAME ON YOU when you take advantage of sick people

Rebekah Mergerson

The reviews are true. This place is awfully slow and all the workers come off as bullish!tters. Avoid if possible. Had the base had a good stroke center I would’ve been able to avoid this ghetto Dayton mess

Daytonstrong937

Nicest nurses ever, competent physicians, Magnet status. Level one trauma center, regional adult burn center, high level NICU, recognized nationally in many, many, many areas of specialty. MVH has long been known as Dayton area's best hospital and it is obvious why. You will have a good outcome here at The Region's Leader. They have been serving Dayton's health needs with innovation, compassion and care since the 1800's. The grounds are immaculately kept.

Thein Tun Aung

This is the flagship hospital of premier health system. The furnishings are top notch. Exterior us awesome. Rooms have fancy remote controls. The only downside is staffs are overworked. I saw the nurses and technicians are working overtime. It has alot of potential with better management team.

my'kel Atkinson

My experience at Miami Valley was beyond amazing minus the great deal of pain I was in. I have been to other hospital and have waited for hours to be seen, even while being severely injured. I waited in the registration line for about 2 minutes and sat in the waiting room for about 10 minutes or less. The staff was amazing, prompt and caring. They even went above and beyond with trying to cheer me up and ease my pain before I could be given any medicine. They were clear and made sure I understood everything that was going on as it can be very hard to focus while in pain. I was expecting my visit to be for hours and it only felt like an hour. Thank you to the staff that assisted me at Miami Valley, I wish I knew everyone's name or could remember. I went in at 0% and today I am at 65%, progress.

Brian B

Place was Terrible, always take forever to be seen, their will be more nurses and doctors standing around having a good ol time, rather than wanting to find a job to do. They have a nick name that they definitely live up to (Death Valley). Worst place to have a baby, my brothers wife was treated like crap after she had their baby.

The Grand Supreme

They put some poor guy out on the street that said that he wanted to kill himself.

George Sams

Because I cannot rate it any lower 2 patients per room allows them to ignore twice as many patients at one time, huge cockroaches in hallways, premiere closed the wrong hospital.

Max Hunter

My family gives.miami valley less than one star! The staff was very disorganized. My sister was seriously ill and none of the specialist seemed to be coordinating with each other. We were given 1 hour to decide if we wanted to agree to next day brain surgery. There was no central coordinator to help us understand very complex medical information and understand what was happening. There didn,t seem to any compassion for a very sick person. We did,t even meet the surgeon until an hour befoe. We will go out of state before we go there again! Very disappointed and frustrsted!

Sonny Rife

They are the best hospital. I live in Springfield and I go to Jamestown hospital because I went to Springfield Regional hospital and they told me I had a stain neck left there went to Jamestown hospital and found out I had bleeding on my brain. So by far the 2 best hospital I've ever been too. So if you live in Springfield go to Jamestown hospital or Miami valley hospital Springfield Regional hospital will let you die first. The staff at Jamestown hospital and Miami valley hospital are the best staff and professionals the staff at Springfield Regional hospital are rude and may I say Asshol*s

Taylor R

Great hospital, saved many people I know. Very clean, with friendly service.

Demarkus Montgomery

Its really a simple answer, they care. God is love.

G R

Great hospital! They really try hard to do everything to make you healthy.

John Mayer

We visited the surgery section of the hospital and had a better than expected experience. The staff and doctors were professional, patient, and very methodical with their work. Thank you for the excellent service and care.

Branden Schuler

I work here. I am an environmental technician. Housekeeping. However I will say I believe in honesty and transparency. I work at this location specifically for its excellence. All places have their flaws. When it comes to patient care and a clean environment, our hospital is unmatched. I get compliments from our patients on a daily basis about how good our service is and how clean the environment is. I have visited mostly every hospital in the Dayton area and I promise there is not a single one as nice and as clean as Miami Valley Hospital.

Brian Kelly

I went in after an awful week following a procedure. The staff surprised me by not only their friendliness but thier professionalism. I left feeling bettet than when irrived. That's the 1st time I've had that experience since I've lived here! They were all well trained and friendly. Very glad I chose this place

Andrew Swartz

The hospital is nice. Lots of new addition to some of the original pieces. They do charge for parking or else I'd give 5 stars.

justin surber

2 months and counting and still haven't received my top pay

Paula Garcia

This is the worst hospital ever. 2 days to get test results for a MRI really.

Kisha Ingram

I came in for stomach pain, nausea, fever, diarrhea, vomitting. Although I appreciate the fluids, the way I was abruptly told "here is your discharge papers" by a nurse, no doctor came back to my room, no warning for me to call my ride. Just rude and inconsiderate as if I was not suffering when I got there. I pay for this service, not HCAP. MVH won't be my first choice unless I'm shot or suffering from a major injury.

Amber Salyers

This is the worst place I have ever been to

Garry Strunk

I have never been treated any better than I was at Miami valley. Friendly compassionate and knowledgeable. Food service was great. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Jeff Stafford

Terrible service the doctors and nurses are rude if someone is in pain you shouldn't tell them they have to be quiet. The biggest thing i couldn't believe was that they give you meds in the E.R. and once your released they set you in a wheelchair in the waiting room wether your ride is hear or not all doped up on meds!!! The service here has really gone down hill this hospital's administrator should really rethink the training i don't recall the part where it's ok to drop stuff on the floor and use it anyway especially I.V meds I don't recommend this place at all not if you need decent help

Lynn Michele D.

#1 Hospital in Dayton. Many family members have been in this Hospital. The Medical Staff and All Care Flight Member's are the BEST. If you want the "BEST" Medical Care don't hesitate. Go to Miami Valley Hopsital.

Barbara Reiss

Everyone is very professional and caring ! From the ER staff to the floor nurses , cpt's and surgical staff we were treated with kindness! Thank you

Cody Dietz

Good hospital, took great care of my dad after his multiple bypass surgery.

Nicholas Dillon

If you need to have medical-type stuff done on you this is place to go. You will want to go here and not to your buddy's place just because he says he watched the procedure done on Youtube and can save you money on the operation. It's really nice that it is close to the University of Dayton as well. I used to go to a lot of parties at UD and one time I brought along my cousin Satchel and we went to a party on the Dark Side and as we were walking up to a house Satchel slipped on a step and cut up his hand really bad. We were about to go to Miami Valley because he was losing a lot of blood and thought he lost a finger but Satchel was like, "Just gimme a beer and I'll be good." We gave Satchel a beer and everything was good. If we had to go to a hospital we would've taken him to Miami Valley.

matthew fryman

My wife and I just had our first child at the berry center and it was a fantastic experience for the most part. Stayed on schedule with meds and all the essential checkups for a newborn and recovering mother. Most of the staff was very polite, professional, and helpful with any questions or concerns as new parents. I would've given five stars but nurse Becky was just awful. Very rude and unprofessional pretty sure she lied to us to keep us in the hospital one more day, and she has been there so long she thinks she's a doctor (SHE IS NOT). Don't let her ruin you coming here though everyone else was excellent from delivery to recovery to nursing and food. If you get Becky just simply ask for a new nurse.

Nephew Jake Stockwell

We were in ER less than hour...literally in the waiting room for less than 10 minutes. Dr. that attended was friendly and attentive. Hospital staff professional, courteous, caring, and helpful. Everything appeared clean. Hopefully we won't have a reason to come back, but if we did, we would not hesitate to come back here.

Chad Sharp

They kept my family up to the min. On how my son was progressing. Also made me feel like he was the most important patient in the hospital.

Jonathan Kent

Great place to see a bunch of nurses grinning and mugging for the cameras while gunshot victims lay nearby. Stay classy, Miami Valley.

Viki Breig

Staff was clueless, no menu or information given on how to order food so I didn'teat the 3 days I was there, they never gave me my regular medicines, they rarely checked in, some nurses and the lactation consultant were very rude and unprofessional. Worst hospital I've ever been to and sadly I drove 90 min to go for one certain Dr.

melanie tyzzer

very nice staff my mom work there jennifer :) nice coworkers and nice place to be when injured or just a check up or blood work kids get free toys at end of things

Dayton Drones

My mother is in icu here on 9th floor . The couches are full of green mold , food and a ton a nasty stuff. I asked Hospital management to look at it and they did. They told me no reason for that nasty stuff to be growing in there couches. An hospitality was was on There way to clean it. It's been 10 days and I'm back an guess what the nasty stuff is still in the couches not one but all of them .

Tina Duffy

Worst E.R. ever. THEY DO NOT LISTEN . They All have an attitude as soon as you say pain. I am on the back side of 60 and still they treated me rude. No wonder people Get into street drugs. Awful. NO RESPECT AT ALL. To

ShineTimE9 Life

They were very caring an sentimental about my loved ones condition, and had a good clean surgeon with some of the best physicians

Susan Witt

The nurse Kim in Cardiac care area was outstanding! I felt very well cared for and Kim was so spot on. She had a huge job with multi-tasking. A++ for Kim especially for keeping all patient's straight! Very Blessed

Jeremiah Wilcox

Worst staff on nights in ICU unit I've ever experienced in my life hopefully something gets done about this. Would not recommend they make you feel like you can't even visit your loved ones

Harold Statzer

Condition: Patient has MS and is in an wheel chair, (no use of legs), and Congested Heart Failure. Reason for admittance, excess swelling of the feet, both upper and lower legs. My wife's condition started in November, 2015 and she has been in and out of the hospital 5 times due to this condition. Her last stay was in August, 2016. For the second time, the same ER Doctor refused to admit my wife because the ER Doctor stated our insurance wouldn't pay. Our insurance paid the 4 times before. Only after much pressure from my wife and myself did the ER Doctor agree to work with us and let her stay. We could the ER Doctor was not happy with us. However, the most important complaint with MVH's hospitalists was during her August admittance. During her first 4 admittance her stay was 5 days each. During her August visit the hospitalists released her only after 3 days. She had three hospitalist during the three days. One for each day. All had a different was of treating her condition. One hospitalists enter her room and ask her what the wheelchair was for. He never looked at her file before coming into her room or he didn't read the file completely. He didn't know she had MS. Their lack of patient knowledge should worry everyone. The last hospitalist who saw my wife, discharged her before the treatment was complete. He only reduced the swelling by 50%. He wouldn't follow our advice and keep her any longer. If we only had our family doctor back at the hospital doing morning rounds. If your family doctor works for Premier Health, he doesn't come to the hospital, you are at the mercy of whoever walks into your room. We have found this was not always good. In the past, we have ask two doctors not to come back due to disagreements. Lately at the Valley, it has sometimes been a battle to get the treatments she needs. MVH, you get a "D" on this visit. That is grading the Valley on a "curve".

Jackie Whitman

Place is beautiful. Treated with kindness and caring.

James gamble

The best hospital in the dayton area except for one thing the powers that be have decided to remove regular soda pop from the entire hospital to save us from sugar but the vending machines are stocked with almost any candy bars you want way to go MVH if your a patient you're allowed 1 a day of the good stuff

Billy Rodgers

My husban was in a house fire and hands neck wad 3rd and forth degree burns down to the bone really bad they did suctch an awsom job on the skingraphing

Leo Turner

Staff was very rude. Although it’s very clean here. Just wish staff was a little more nicer
