Many generations of our family have been well cared for at McCullough Hyde, so it has a special place in my heart. We've gone from simple stitches to serious surgical procedures. Our care and our outcomes were always the best. Thank-you so much to Dr Harlan, Dr Gray, AND to all the members of the surgery team who I did not meet. Since it is Nurses Week, I'd especially like to recognize McCullough Hyde's superior nurses! They treated me so well in the hospital, it helped my recovery at home. When I recalled their amazing kindness and wonderful care, I *felt* encouraged and I felt better. (Such a level of nursing is unique to the McCullough Hyde experience.) Thank-you Debbie D. Thank-you Kayla. Thank-you Hannah. Thank-you Monica. Thank-you Bridgette. Thank-you Peyton. Thank-you Carrie. I will remember you all as the very best. Happy Nurses Day at dearly loved M.H.M.H.♥

Great experiences in the ED. Have had to take family members there three times in the last 6 months or so. Fast, efficient, and super nice nurses and physicians. Shout out to Clay who is an excellent nurse.

Angela Curl

Had to wait for an hour just to have blood taken.

Jared Fitzpatrick

Terrible service. Terrible accuracy. Nice people. Terrible job for them. Try everything in your power before coming here. Going on hour 3 for waiting for confirmation of strep.

Ian Anderson

Perfectly fine health care and workers, but their administration is just god-awful as they will do everything in their power to make you pay money that you are not liable for, take advantage of college students and their lack of understanding of the medical system and will badger the patients with debt collectors as opposed to talking to the actual credit card holder resulting in often irreparable credit damage. Do not go here if you have another choice.

Ryan Geiser

Great nurses!

I loved the nurses they seemed liked they care, Dr was nice, but I feel like they could have been more involved in how too help me in the end.

Terrible problems with the billing department. I have been there multiple times between me and my family. Every time there is a problem even when insurance providers have changed. Definitely just a money hungry hospital that doesn't care how they get it.

Karen Smitj

Not pleased with my last visit. . The staff was very rude and inconsiderate . Felt very unwelcome. I will never return. The 1 star is for having free coffee. .no cups. .but the coffee was available.

After a long and exhausting labor with our firstborn, my husband and I were looking forward to bonding with our son for a few days. The worst nurse I've ever met completely destroyed that experience. When she walked into the room for the first time and saw my husband burping our son, she exclaimed, "Oh, honey! I've got some teaching to do." She then proceeded to grab our child without permission and hit him over the back HARD. Much harder than necessary. She force-fed him sugar water with the express purpose of making him vomit (which I have been assured by a friend who is an OB nurse is NOT standard procedure). She told me that nursing pillows are useless and assured me that the best way to get my son to latch was to wave my breast tantalizing in front of his face until he caught it in his mouth. (Huh?!?) She treated my us like we were naughty, little, ignorant children for daring to have a baby. And worst of all, she broke HIPPA privacy laws in the most embarrassing way. While I was in the bathroom and we had a room full of visitors, she stormed in and proclaimed to the room at large, "I know women like your wife. She WILL get postpartum depression, and you need to get her treatment." What a piece of work. I can't believe we paid $3000 out-of-pocket to be treated like that. Last I checked, she was a nurse. Not a doctor. And not licensed to diagnose anyone. Besides her, the rooms were tiny and uncomfortable. The building is outdated. When my son had trouble after birth, the pediatrician ordered him to be taken for an x-ray and never asked for our consent. We only learned of the procedure when she came in to discuss the x-rays with us afterwards. Our experience was so horrible that I swore to never have a hospital birth again. When I tried for a homebirth with our second and transferred to a hospital after stalling for 24 hours, I finally realized how terrible our experience at McCullough-Hyde truly was. Our second hospital birth was so much better it didn't even compare with the first. Our baby was never taken from our room, and we were treated with respect and dignity. The one positive thing I can say about McCullough-Hyde's OB, and the reason I've rated it 2 stars instead of 1, is that they have excellent breastfeeding support. The IBCLC's (not the nutty OB nurse) were great, and we really appreciated their follow-up calls and breastfeeding line.

The level of incompetency that I experienced was unrivaled by anything I had seen before . I went in for a normal MRI procedure, however, the "Doctor" was unable to get the contrast in my joint (after assuring me this was a routine, straightforward procedure). Consequently they were unable to perform the MRI, and I left, after being poked and prodded with needles for 40 minutes, in worse condition than I had entered with no results. AVOID THIS HOSPITAL AT ALL COSTS.

The hospital is relatively clean some renovation but looks dated. I gave McCullough-Hyde a one star because of a fatal flaw, anyone having surgery done at this facility can and will be committed to possibly out of pocket expenses. This hospital has exclusive anestheologist named Dr. Bruce Gray a likeable guy but with the possibility of deceptive methods to extract additional money from your insurance or you. This would be after the insurance company have exhausted all negotiations. After your operation you may receive a non itemized bill with separate entries the cost of the total bill then below a line with Un resolved charges. This is ambiguous and deceptive. Since he is exclusive he is the only anestheologist you'll get. At this hospital. Not my hospital question everything! Note: this practice may pertain to most anestheologist which rarely work with insurance networks.

I am very disappointed with the billing department at McCullough Hyde. I received a bill in January of this year (2014) from services in August of 2012. First of all, it takes that long to send a bill? They must be really backed up. In March of this year (2014) I called their department to pay off a balance of another bill and specifically asked if there were any other pending charges on my account and I was told NO. Well, this week, (May 2014), I received "A formal demand for payment in full" from their collections agency. I first called McCullough-Hyde and was informed that there was nothing they could do for me anymore since they had already sent the bill over to collections. I didn't even receive an apology. I then proceeded to call the collections agency (Finance System) to see what I could do regarding a payment plan. That's out of the question. I could make payments but needed to pay my balance in full by mid June or else this would be on my credit report. So, I get two weeks? Thank you McCullough-Hyde for the not so great experience and adding stress to my life that could have been much avoided. I suggest you look into another billing system (one that doesn't wait a year and a half to send out a bill) and be sure your employees are trained on how to inform your patients of correct information when they contact the hospital regarding outstanding bills.

I have had two surgeries here in the past year. I was treated with respect and had very caring nurses and physicians. I would highly recommend this hospital.

Malori Thornsburg

Great small town hospital with fantastic nurses. Never seems busy like other area hospitals and the best place to have your babies. It isnt uncommon that you're the only one delivering on the unit at that time, so you are well taken care of.

If you anticipate any problems with the delivery of your child, it’s best to go to Cincinnati or elsewhere. I would like to start off by saying that almost every nurse that I encountered was amazing but 1 or 2 bad ones (I don’t know if I should say wicked or horrendous instead of bad) make for a traumatizing experience. Doctor Stein and Doctor Harlan are also great. Anyways, the day of delivery I arrived at the hospital for a scheduled C section, I was only 36 weeks, I was very nervous and hoping that my son’s lungs were matured enough for the outside world after 3 Celestone shots. I had a nurse that made me very uneasy and gave me a bad feeling immediately. I was hoping that I was wrong and that this would be a good experience. It’s very scary when you are in a vulnerable position and the nurse is making you uncomfortable. We will call her Nurse L. First, she asked me about previous pregnancies. I told her I had one miscarriage and she asked me if I had an abortion (when I talked to the head of nursing, after the fact, she indicated that all pregnancies that do not end in live births are considered abortions. The head of nursing said she was confused as to why she would imply that I purposely ended a pregnancy and so am I.) Next, she tried to insert an IV and missed (I understand, it happens sometimes) her demeanor disturbed me though. She removed it and SCRATCHED the tourniquet off of my arm. She said nothing, she just seemed angry. I had complications and had to take blood pressure medication that causes a false positive for amphetamines (it’s called Methyldopa , look it up) and she implied that I was actually using amphetamines. She was very cold and almost seemed angry. So far, these are just petty things that she’s doing to make me nervous. During the C section everything was fine. There was a nurse practioner that came back to my room with Nurse L. My son was wheezing and the pulse oximeter said his oxygen absorption was a little low. Nurse L said she was going to call the pediatrician to see if my son should be put under the hood in the nursery. The policy is that a nurse has to stay in your room for an hour after an operation. Nurse L left the nurse practioner in my room and she expressed her annoyance. She left after about 30 minutes and Nurse L did not return for hours. My son was wheezing and making odd noises the whole time. I was very worried and depressed. I considered leaving the hospital. When I asked if this was normal I was treated like I was being over dramatic. Four hours after surgery the epidural was wearing off and I was in pain. I told her this when she entered my room. She said she would be back with medication. 35 minutes later I called her, I told her I was in serious pain. I rated it a 9. She returned 45 minutes later with medication. She said “Okay, we are going treat it aggressively this time.” She gave me ONE 5 miligram oxycodone for a pain rated at 9! ANYONE THAT HAS A NURSING DEGREE WOULD KNOW THAT I SHOULD HAVE 2. She then started pushing on my incision, which must be done but it was so painful! I was ignored for an hour and 20 minutes and my pain was so bad that I felt nauseous. It's like a sick joke. She was very rough with my baby. I just wanted her to stay away from me. By the grace of God another nurse took over and I felt so much better! I was never burdened with her again. I was at McCullough Hyde for 38 hours. My son’s lung collapsed and Doctor Davis came to tell me that he is doing needle aspiration on my son. He assured me that this was very scary and he was doing it blindly. My son was careflighted to Cincinnati Children’s. It was a horrible experience. When I left McCullough Hyde, I felt very angry about some of my experiences. I called the head of nursing and she was sympathetic. She told me that she was horrified and that there were going to be consequences. She told me that Nurse L was a charge nurse and that This was not typical behavior for Nurse L. If that is true, what provoked her to treat me this way? It’s a mystery!

If I could give this hospital zero stars I would. My daughter went their because she thought her wrist was broken. The hospital took x-rays and told her she was fine. Several days later they called her back to say they reviewed her x-ray and her wrist was in fact broken. We didn't trust the fist diagnosis so luckily we went to a doctor in town who saw that she did break her wrist. This hospital is terrible. i have also tried multiple times to discuss my issue with the patient relations department and they will not call me back. I refuse to pay any money to this place. Do not let your college student go here for any treatment.

I was their Friday night with a broken ankle in the emergency room. They treated me great and very nice nurses and doctors. Thanks so much for your time and help.

I had a wicked self-harm injury, and they fixed me up in no time. they were extremely friendly and caring. the ER nurse named allison is unbelievably attractive also, which was a major plus.

The absolute worst hospital I have ever gone to in my life! Felt helpless going through the emergency room, nobody seemed to care. They were giving me unnecessary treatment for my condition. Doctors and nurses are rude and unprofessional. I was in so much pain and nobody came to see about me for almost 2 hours, I had no choice but to leave. I would recommend going to Fort Hamilton Hospital, they immediately asset the situation and thus treated me appropriately. I will be reporting the staff at McCullough-horrible service.

I can say they saved my life...

The er doctor misdiagnosed my son took x-rays said they looked fine he just had a sprained ankle well good thing I didn't believe him .... Took my son to orthopedic doctor and you can clearly see the fracture in the X-rays.....

A great place to work and they have always provided the best care for my family.

I was seen in the emergency room August 23rd 2019. I have lived Oxford for 6 years I've been to that emergency room before but this day was the first time that I was ever treated the way that I was treated The nursing staff were wonderful but the doctor Bianchi, James, MD treated me despicably. I was 23 days post-op from a spinal fusion back surgery My post up was going pretty good And then all of a sudden out of know where I got a hit with this tremendous amount of pain I was bawled up in my bed crying in pain I was scared I didn't know what was happening I couldn't get a hold of my regular doctor at the time so I went to the ER I walk in crying and pain The nurses get me right back the doctor comes in has me take my back brace off barely lifts up my shirt glances at my incision didn't touch my back at all and says well I think you should stick to your regular pain regimen at home And I said Oh okay (by the way I and had just got there and didn't ask for any pain meds at all ) He started to walk out of the room and I said aren't you going to look at my back He said I just did I said Oh that's it and he said yes.!!! I couldn't believe it He didn't ask me any questions He didn't do an x-ray He didn't talk to me about the pain My surgery nothing He just sent me on my way. I was absolutely stunned of the treatment that I got He didn't bother to talk to me He didn't care. This was my fifth back surgery third one while living in Oxford and I have never been to the ER for back trouble ever and for him to dismiss me like that was despicable I was crying when I got there and crying when I left. I came back home I got a hold of my doctor My doctor sent me to the hospital for an x-ray. Come to find out I had been put on a bone stimulator to help in the recovery well I was having an adverse reaction to the bone stimulator. . I just thought I should put this out there .The Doctor assuming that I was drug seeking was wrong I know that they have to deal with that in ER situations but I'm 47 years old I was 23 days post-op from back surgery number five Don't just assume anything look at my record see if I've been to there ER before with back pain I had not. and as I sated I've been a resident of Oxford for six years! I've been in the hospital McCulloh Hyde Hospital was treated excellent I've been seen at that ER before for walking pneumonia My treatment was wonderful but the doctor I had this particular day I've never been treated like that in my life I was totally dismissed and I just don't think it was fair to be treated that way I was in that ER all of 5 minutes And that doctor was in that room with me less than that I Hope someone sees this and I wish someone would just tell the doctor take more time with your patients Don't just assume the worst and then take a minute ask some questions reassure them I was terrified that day that something had went wrong with my surgery and he just didn't care. Thank you.

Small town hospital with personalized care and affordable payment plans for those who don't carry health insurance. I had all four of my children here and have had many surgeries here. Nurses are very caring and doctors take their time to explain treatment plans to their patients. I highly recommend to anyone.

Nurse wasn’t attentive, tore open a perfectly good Dad shirt. The free ride service from MUPD was a nice perk though.

Absolutely horrible place to work and go for healthcare. The way food is prepared and made is disgusting and can't believe they serve it to patients and staff. As for careers there, the cliques and groups and the higher ups destroy your chance at going anywhere in your job.

Marty O'toole

Out of all my visits here, my most recent was my favorite. I got to meet my brand new baby cousin

Arthur Carvalho

I have nothing but great things to say about this hospital. Very caring nurses, amazing facilities

I think it was clean and staff was careing went above what was ask everybody was kind.

Worst hospital ever. My sister had a baby there and they left all the bloody instruments and bloody mess in the room all night. Disgusting! Then the doctor almost dropped the baby as she was delivering. I would suggest going somewhere different.

Ashley Nicolle

Doctors are a joke here. Horrible communication. Gave me tests I didn't need, misdiagnosed me and I ended up back in ER two days later. Been here five days and I'm in horrible pain and one of the Drs want to send me home with no answers or solutions! This is ridiculous and frankly it's cruel. If they make me leave without fixing me or helping me I'm going straight to the top on the list with all my complaints. I also woke up to pounding on the walls before the sun was up. Can't they work on reconstruction where sick people are during the day not at night pounding right underneath them. Horrible excuse of a hospital. A couple of the nurses and aides were great but that's as far as the positive input goes .

Nancy Ferguson

I have always been treated kindly and professionally at McCullough Hyde. During two recent emergency room visits my husband and I were treated by efficient, compassionate, and expert staff. McCullough Hyde has also provided routine labwork, preventive screenings, and surgeries for us. Our experiences have been very positive for the last 50 years, and I see the TriHealth merger as overall helpful to preserving our local hospital. We really appreciate the staff and are grateful for the quality of care we receive.

Andrew Swartz

Our family has used this hospital for a few generations in births and er visits, the staff is always comforting and helpful and we’ve never felt a reason not to return.

Dana Hoover

I just wanted to take a quick few minutes and explain how dissatisfied I am with the ER. First I would like to say I understand that people need to be seen by the severity of their issues. With that being said I brought my 2 year old son in to the ER 6/11 for a laceration on his face. It didn't take long to get back to the room. The doctor came in said that the wound needed to be glued THREE HOURS LATER the procedure was done! My issue is this many many people came and went while I was there other patients were asking "oh my why are you still here". Also its does not take a genius to know that after awhile a wound will dry up and attempt to heal especially after THREE HOURS! My son had to be put through pain all over again! AGAIN he is 2 and now probably scarred due to this waiting and re-opening. So was it even worth it? After he was cleaned and glued his nose was still poring blood. This makes about 4 hours from initial injury. When I questioned this I was told it was normal well for a mother I don't feel its normal! I try to be a patient and understanding person but only after I lost my cool and began to get angry did someone finally say HEY we should help this baby! I began to feel I was just a cautious mother overreacting until other patients were becoming concerned and stating he is a baby he could have went before us that's crazy!

Ashley Wilson

Sara Saunders

Went to hospital with sick baby. She was never triaged and we left. They should be shut down. People here have no urgency or concern for a sick infant. The person in charge when I asked for one wasn't any better and said it might be another 20 minutes or more before they could triage her. What bs after rushing to the hospital to be treated like a second class citizen. We left and went to Children's, where she was triaged upon entry, but they need to be reported for neglect and put out of business!

austin haley

I will avoid having to come here

Kelsey Williams

I delivered my first baby here in July. I was high risk, very new to the area and scared to death. The nurses were all wonderful and the doctor on call was so caring. Even the environmental specialist was great! I felt like I got more care and attention than I would have if I delivered back home in a big hospital. Even though it's outdated, I love it there.

I could not be more disgusted with the care and treatment received at this hospital from causing infection and lack of communication so much has been lost absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO GO THERE THE STAFF ARE EXTREMELY AWFUL AS WELL

Tracy Bates

Very low quality doctors. I am sorry I paid my copay at the ER visit because I shouldn't have paid it at all. My very sick son was misdiagnosed and rushed off when we were the only ones in the ER. And I knew he was being misdiagnosed. Kind of embarrassing when the parent knows more than the "MD." The doctor was completely incompetent and I will be reporting this to the administration. Not sure why this place is even open.

mel tyzzer

Both of my worked there at some point. My mom, hated it and quitted, but my other mom loves it, who's working there currently. The place sucks though. Why, is McCollough hide the only hospital in Oxford? We need a better one.

I would like to say a big thank you to the doctors and nurse as well as everyone that done the testing on me when I had my stroke November 22, 2017 and saving my life. I don't know who was on duty and had seen me so that I can thank each of you personally but I appreciate all the care you gave me during my short stay before sending me down to U.C. in Cincinnati.
