I really hate to leave bad comments but this time it’s necessary. my husband, daughter and I traveled to the UNC Rex hospital from WILMINGTON, NC. AND SHE DID NOT GET THE GENETIC TEST DONE. we spoke with dr Spence and waited a good two hours to go down to the lab for the nice women to tell me there is no order in for her test... she suggested that I call the next day (Saturday 7/20) and just walk in any time between 8am-1pm to have her test finally done... so we pay out of pocket to stay the night in a hotel to wake up, call UNC and hear there is STILL NO GENETIC TEST ORDERED FOR MY DAUGHTER. most likely the hospital here in Wilmington had poor communication, would not surprise me. but I am extremely upset that I have been planning that doctors appointment for MONTHS to get absolutely NOTHING done but a waste of my time and money. I will be contacting supervisors for this. just ridiculous; I may be a little over the edge because I looked forward to going to a “UNC” specialty clinic. I’ve been planning and wrapping my schedule around this test since APRIL; I still cannot believe I was driving away from Raleigh without a test done for my daughter. We left the facility around 5pm and a nurse called me at 7:30 LOL. If I had waited ANOTHER two hours with an 18 month old little girl I would have been LIVID. So if I could give Zero stars I would. Unfortunately my daughter was the last patient on a Friday afternoon, clearly the Doctor was ready for his boat weekend. Something was more important than a simple genetic test order for my daughter.

THE worse experience yet - a telephone operator who cannot tell me how to find a waiting room while a friend is waiting while their child is in surgery. I just spent 15 minutes to be told repeatedly that there is only a waiting room for ICU and he doesn't know where that is. Thanks for no help! At times like these for families, it would seem appropriate to have someone on a switchboard that knows answers and directions.

This is relating to the neurology division of the Children's Hospital: Unless there's an extremely gross delay in your child's development, I implore people to reconsider visiting UNC neurology even if advised by their pediatrician. The medical industry promotes overtesting and overanalysis at the expense of your pocketbook so one should keep this in mind. About our visit: Waited for the neurologist for 45 minutes in the exam room without anything for our toddler to do. No books, no toys...in a children's hospital!. Doctor saw us for maybe 10-15 minutes, nurse was unavailable to strap on a catheter for tests. Sent us for bloodwork downstairs. By the time her number was called our toddler had to be pinned down by the staff to draw blood because she was way past her nap time and absolutely crazy. Huge bruise on her arm for days. Absolutely nothing was gleaned from the visit, was a complete waste of time. A veterinarian would've been more helpful in diagnosing our daughter's delayed verbal levels. All for the low low price of $1,300 (with decent insurance) and taking 3/4 of a day off from work. The non-insurance price was around $6,000. I understand health care is expensive in America, but let's get real now. Our daughter is fine, just needs more speech therapy and she's already starting to talk now anyway, plus she's bilingual receptive. We knew all of that going in but we assumed the visit might cost us $200-300 just to confirm our suspicions. Again, please reconsider your need for a neurologist just because you feel compelled to give the very best for your son or daughter. If the developmental delays are mild to moderate, I almost guarantee you that the time, pain and cost of the visit will yield very little. Give your child time and don't let peer pressure or the overzealous intuition of your pediatrician sway you.

I can't express myself no other then TRUSTWORTHY AND AMAZING!!! From trolleys to nurses. My son is a 10 year old diabetic. The staff and Dr's are very attentive patient knowledgeable and on standby. They've helped me and my family ten tremendously!!! I've never left my son alone anywhere!! And this is the very one of very few places that he's been the night alone. Excellent Excellent services definitely his number 1 go to!!

$177 "Facility Charge" for a specialist office visit and they charge for parking. Maybe this is the norm nowadays. No strong opinion on the staff/facility yet beyond this.

The reason I’m putting one start is because of the following. 8 year 1/2 ago when my son was referred to this hospital. Why because I talk to the doctor saying if they could do some testing because I knew there was something wrong with him.my son was born in Lumberton North Carolina. My son was a baby when all of this happen. when I talk to the doctor about my son if they could do some testing, they ask me for reason. I told them that my son was moving his eyes back and ford. And for the reason I need it to someone to check. I got told that the was normal with babies. I said no not this time I just knew there was something else.so after talking and talking with them they finally the doctor made a appointment to this hospital UNC hospital at chapel hill NC. We end up driving 1hr and 45 mints almost 2hrs when we got their we end up waiting in the lobby almost one hour. And for that because they forgot about us. I remember this like it was yesterday. So, after they finally took us in the room to get my baby ready, they finally were done doing the MRI. How they woke him up was with cold water and ice the nurses said that’s how they do it.by the time I was only 17 years old and I though that was normal because they said so. We were out from that hospital we only went one time. I ask what about the result will anyone call me or sent me something in the mail. The respond was we will call you. After waiting one month with no calls no mail. I call them and ask for the result the only thing they said was let me transfer your call I end up waiting on the phone after someone answer it and “”””the ONLY THING THEY SAID THE MRI WAS OKAY” I said that’s it yes the results ARE NORMAL. And that’s was it. But I just new that they were wrong…… I move to a different state I just took my baby stuff and myself. finally, we went to this hospital RILEY HOSPITAL FOR CHILDRENS they work with us and in till we had answers so yes the MRI WAS NOT NORMAL they ask me how come you didn’t do anything for this baby. I said UNC hospital did a MRI they said it was normal. I was crying because all of this was so confused. They doctor end up showing me the MRI in the brain has form like molar tooth witch that’s indicated that your son has JOUBERT SYNDROME. after they were done talking to me. we had another appointment they said he is blind my heart and my self was, so heart broken. So please I don’t know how the yare work right now but please just be awarded.my son is 9 years old now. oh and also one of the ladies said don't worry once your baby turns 1 everything is going to be okay babies are just lazy.

We went in for an emergency hernia for my son and had a wonderful experience! In the future, we won't go anywhere else! Caring staff, excellent doctors,and efficient system in getting us in and out of surgery in a day! Awesome! Thanks Dr. Adamson!! Also, Carla was so great in the clinic!

The staff here is very knowledgeable and more importantly, they know how to relay the information in a way that both explains the situation and pits your mind at ease!!! This is the only hospital i will take my daughter Kairi to!!! 10 stars!!!

Our local hospital transferred us here for burn treatment, and I am so grateful for the care we received. My 2 year old was terrified when we arrived, and all of the nurses were so patient and kind with him. The providers continued to evaluate him throughout our stay, which was reassuring that we were receiving the most relevant care possible. Everyone took the time to answer our questions thoroughly, and nurses, etc. even helped me remember questions I had for the doctors that I almost forgot about. With a toddler it was also nice that I could order him food any time throughout the day. The "sofa bed" in the room was large enough that my husband and I were both able to sleep comfortably. They also had play areas for the kids to enjoy, a smaller one in the hall/waiting area on the floor, and a large one that was open during certain times. The hospital is fairly cheerful with things like butterflies on the ceiling of our room, paw prints in the hallways, and people dedicated just to distracting kids and helping them to have fun (these people may have been part of the burn team, but I feel like it's indicative of the care they give to the whole child). They also set our follow up appointment before we were even discharged, so it was one less thing I needed to think about during a crazy, emotionally draining time.

If you have a baby or a child do not get there blood drawn there omfg! They poked both my 9 months olds arms and when they couldn't get the blood out they moved the needle around a lot making him scream. I WILL NEVER TAKE MY CHILD BACK THERE EVER AGAIN!!! Oh I recommend that everyone in the lab right behind the women's info center be fired. They were very rude and unprofessional. If I could put no stars I would.

Excellent hospital for children. Staff is attentive and they have plenty of things to keep the children entertained during their stay including video games, board games, tv. They can even ride a bike.

We are up at the ACC and Children's Hospital every month with my son. They are always trying to make sure we can get as much done in one visit as possible. If we need a new brace made PT sees us, if they want another specialist to take a look it happens that day. The resource specialist in the pediatric clinic (Darragh) is amazing. She was able to get all three support therapies at a location close to our home. I can't say enough.....
