My son was sent for renal issues. I could not ask for better health care! The staff was excellent and we even had a lady who helped us find our way around. She also helped us with financial issues.

My daughter had her brain surgery here and we spent a few nights...nursing staff is great. Every time we have had a test done here it’s been exceptional as well.

Don't ever trust the psychiatrists, they WILL give your child brain-damaging drugs that change the chemicals in their growing brains!

Waited for over six hours to be seen before having to leave (after being informed it could be another 2-4 hours wait time to be seen). The nurses, techs, volunteers, and other staff were all (mostly all) friendly and interacted very well with my 4 year old while we were there a week previously. Communication and timing were seriously lacking the entirety of both visits (in the ER and while we were admitted).

Daughter came in at 11:30 for a food allergy. We waited on hour, waiting room had trash all over the floor and food. The bathroom was dirty. We were told we'd be discharged, and are currently waiting to be discharged now. Been waiting an hour. Then they came back and told us a completely different story. The staff seems like that don't know what's going on. You're not a priority, your a number. The worest ER.

This is the worst children’s hospital ever!!!! Emergency room is very small. This place is like from a 3rd world country shity service, nurses have rude attitudes for no dam reason.. nothing but hood rats here.

Elvis Johnny

Went to the emergency room at 10PM on a Monday. The waiting room was packed with about 25 people in an enclosed room that was about 85 degrees. Sick kids in a hot stuffy room. There was an 4.5 hour wait. We left with our 2 week old. Would never go here again. The nurses looked stressed. Hire more Doctors Levine and have more than one on staff after hours. I thought I was in a third world country given the poor availability to emergency healthcare.

I called to see if they children urgent care and I got hung up on. Called back and the person was nice but no urgent care. I would have liked for my 10 year old to be seen by a pediatrician

I was a patient here in third grade and the doctors did an impossible surgery on me. I was expected to die but they did such a great job. Then I was supposed to never be able to walk again but the nurses and doctors helped me and helped push me. Now I am 14, completely healthy, very strong, and I'm a travel softball player. I love this place and am greatly appreciated.

CMC has the best service, yes they charge a fortune for the service but if you have insurance you will pay just your copay you're be fine. people are very kind and helpful every time. 2 of my children were born there and the experience is so amazing that i thank everyone there at the facility for being so good at what they do.

My son was in the nicu here had to have a surgery done when he was a week old. The surgery went well but the staff was extremely rude and when my son came home from there at 2 weeks old he had the worst diaper rash I've ever seen & it took me forever to get rid of it.

Chelsey Kennedy

Nurses are great in the EAST NICU Crystal, Lessli, Becky I love them !! The only thing that upset me is the receptionist name Patty that sit at the desk in the intensive care unit on nights. She has poor customer service skills and is very Rude to each family as that come in. It's already hard enough that families will be here for months and have to deal with someone that is rude . Patty told my husband that he could not see our daughter because he didn't have her bracelet. He had his badge that said parent but not her bracelet. After talking to the charge nurse all he had to do is show his license and could go right back ! So disappointed that she didn't even ask for his license. He left upset after been at work all day and couldn't see our baby. I hope in the future she gets moved after watching her disrespect another family tonight I clearly see its not just us she does it to everybody. Other than that I love my baby nurses they treat us with respect and keep us updated even giving us a phone call.

Levine Children's Hospital is amazing. In the ER I saw so many different doctors and nurses and each of them were all so kind and took the greatest care of me. The ER was so busy but anytime I needed anything I would just put a button and the nurse would be right in to help me. After the doctors figured out what the problem was the doctors admitted me to the hospital for me to have surgery in the morning. Up in my room on the 10th floor, which is the coolest floor of the hospital in my opinion, the nurses there were the best. The nurses would come and talk with my mom and I while they did all the test they needed and gave me the medications I needed which was nice, It made us feel more comfortable and less stressed about what was going on. My night nurse even told us a story about when she embarrassed herself in front of Greg Olsen when he came and visited the kids in the hospital. The nurses even dressed up in different costumes each day which was cool because it was more comforting to see the nurses not looking like robots in uniform scrubs. Also, I like how along with my doctor there was different residents who were working with him which I thought was cool because they got to learn on me so that later on they can go help other people with similar problems as what I had. In the end, LCH is the best hospital I have ever been to; the staff are amazing, the facility is beautiful, and the care is first class.

Marithel Enriquez

This is the best hospital that I have ever been to. I am having the best experience I could ever since I got pregnant the first time. I had the best doctor assisting my pregnancy and labor and delivery. The nurse team was lovely. The nurse who assisted me treated me as my own mother. I couldn't ask for more. Thank you all.

Awesome, Awesome, Awesome!! My son was in the hospital for 3 days for issues with breathing and the entire staff was nothing short of amazing! All of the nurses and doctors were welcoming and accommodating and we lacked nothing. I was truly impressed and happy that I chose Levine to care for my son. Keep up the great work!

Unfortunately we had to visit this location more than we wanted ( we have 3 very active children), the staff is the most professional and kind we have ever experienced. We would not take our kids anywhere else, unless we are not in the area. They always make our children important and happy, not just the slinhurrd one, but the others as well, as we always come together to support the one in need.

I broke my leg twice and arm once we were far from levines when I broke my arm my mom said lets go to the er I said no I want to go to levines beacouse in the past with my broken legs I loved it and its that great that i would wait that long for a doctor to assist me. If you have a child in need of a doctor and you are in the Piedmont region of north carolina you should go to levines childrens hospital just trust me it's great they are super nice and have very nice restaurants you should go they also have fun activities for the kids and TVs for the family.

rick grevey

Same experience as Carol. Now i know why people get irritated that they have to put one star just to write a review. Got there at 12 a.m. with a sign next to check in that says 3 hr wait to see doctor. That was utterly ridiculous. There were 6 kids including mine waiting to be see in which all were started to be called between 1:30-2:30. They were spot on with the 3 hr wait to see the Dr, they just didn't say they were going to say hi and leave. Didn't see another doctor until 4:10 to actually explain what was going on. We were there thinking that my daughter had a sezier that night. Not knowing what to do we thought this would be the place to go, from Gastonia! Any way we left there with no testing done and an answer of "I don't have an answer for you" and were discharged around 5:00. Now again I don't know what to do for seizers or whether or not an ER can do anything but I would think a possible sezier would be taken more seriously. I will take her to her Dr to see what's going on.

Manolo GR

If I had to split my review in two, I would give 5 stars to the Levine Children's Hospital (specially the staff) and 2 stars to the Children's ER department. Children's ER Room: It's an emergency room, and it didn't seem to be urgent for the people in charge. It may be just the night shift, but we did felt that they were not paying enough attention to us. The place was empty and the wait was long, also some of the personnel seemed to be junior level. Children's Hospital: The staff was amazing, nurses and doctors were knowledgeable and inspired trust. They took very good care of our newborn, explained everything with detail and made us feel confident and positive about the recovery. Other staff like cleaning personnel, technicians, etc were great too. The facilities are wonderful and truly make a difference for patients, in this case kids. They have art all over the place, vibrant colors and design, playrooms, lounge rooms, gardens, snack rooms, etc. The only negative on the facilities is that it's hard to navigate through the hospital, which is a maze. Positive is the cafeteria, the food is very good and affordable. We got several free meals too.

Worst place you can ever take your children. My newborn had a spinal tap done on her by a very inexperience doctor while another doctor saw that she was not doing it correctly then he stepped in. In total my poor daughter had to endure 2 spinal taps. One from a back alley doctor, and one from a real doctor. The excuse was that my daughter was dehydrated, my daughter was very well hydrated and still is.

Wish I didn't have to go here, when you need a great doc this is the place.

TERRIBLE!!!! The doctors are rude, nurses are rude!!!!!! 7 week old baby here nobody listened to a word I said!!!!! Doctors say he needs a special test done, refuses to call in the doctor who does the test because it's a weekend????!!!!! DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!!!

My son Granville was born here 5-25-2017 and stayed in NICU for 6 weeks, he was born with CDH (Congenital diaphragmatic hernia). All the nurses where amazing, one even bought him a pacifier with her own money. One nurse in particular was a God sent, Angie Davis! She is a miracle worker after getting my son to drink milk from a bottle when they said he would not leave the hospital without a feeding tube. She worked with him everyday and had him drinking. I think about this lady everyday! Dr. Grossman and his team are miracle workers also! God working through these Dr's hands saved my son's life. Without these people and God I wouldn't been able to be a moma, I thank the Lord everyday!

9 hours, 9 miserable long hours for 4 stitches. Hospital should be ashamed of themselves and hire a competent staff.

This hospital saved my son's life years ago. And recently they took great care of my disabled niece. They have so many wonderful and caring nurses as well as lots of very knowledgeable and caring doctors. They not only take great care of the patients but they also go above and beyond for the parents of the children. They treat everyone with respect and compassion

Katie

I was a patient at the hospital for a little short of five whole weeks, and my experience was nothing but wonderful. I stayed on the 10th floor which had the most wonderful nurses staffed that I’m going to remember for the rest of my life. Everyone was wonderful to me, I met nine dogs, saw a baby, and my life got back on track. As an older child patient (17), I was treated as my age and not as if I was much younger because of where I was. I was listened to, understood, and there was no issue of me being proactive in my own care and helping with it if I wanted to. I was practically treated like an adult, and was never uncomfortable with how I was spoken to. My CHIPS teams were wonderful and also left a mark on me. I’ve been out nearly two months now and I can say with certainty instead of pretending it never happened sometimes I miss it a little bit. I miss the volunteers, and the nurses, and my weird, do whatever it wants bed (lol). I was cared for well, treated immensely well, and did not leave the hospital thinking I’d come back as a patient any time soon. The only thing I disliked was when one of my favorite night nurses was gone for about two weeks, and when I couldn’t have my phone for a bit. A well-deserved vacation, but I missed her nonetheless. I highly recommend this hospital, although my experience was obviously limited to the staff of one floor + some very sweet phys/occ therapists, I’m sure the rest of the floors are like that.

Love Myfamily

We are forever grateful to the nurses and doctors at the emergency department of Levine Children's Hospital for their excellence in care and dedication to children. Special thanks to Matthew Pearce ,Christopher Griggs and night shift nurse, Jessica (CHIPS, 7108).

Arrived at Levine Children's Emergency Room at about 6:30pm with 11 month old (had been sent there by doctors at an Urgent Care center). Initially Levine ER staff said it would be approximately 30 minutes to see a doctor. However, every 30 - 45 minutes, they came out and told us that it was going to take longer to see the doctor. This went on for over four hours. I understand triage protocol, but this was insane. At about midnight, was finally taken back, only to be put on a cot in the hallway. Sat there for almost another two hours before a doctor actually saw us. Was after 2:00am before we were released. Worst care and consideration I've ever witnessed at an ER facilty; I'm on the north side of sixty, so I've seen a few. The staff at Levine ER should be ashamed of themselves.

I was so frustrated yesterday with the service I received waited over 5 hours from 11 pm to 5:04 Am sitting in a waiting room with my child he can barely walk he expressed to them his pain level is 9 the refuse to give him anything, then I have never been asked at a hospital to identify my races , the staff at the check in desk very rude unprofessional down to the Triage nurse .

Today I am in the emergency room with a 1-month-old baby with fever, nasal congestion without food and sleeping right, and even though I'm waiting, it's going to be three hours a day, just to see my daughter!

What a joke. Waited 2 hours to be seen 5 minutes in the ER. My daughter was diagnosed with the flu earlier in the day at her pediatrician, but she was crying that she couldn't breathe. The Dr came in and listened to her chest and said its just typical flu symptoms. Right after he left a hospital discharge person came in to ask me how I was going to pay for my 100 dollar deductible. I will never use this business again as they are trying to have quantity over quality.

Not sure where to begin. 5 month old son has been suffering breathing since 6 weeks old. For the past 3 days we have been scheduled for procedures and surgery. The lack of communication by surgeons and staff had been unbelievable. We were told not to allow our son the eat past 8pm the night before and we were scheduled for pre op at 930 am. We arrive at 9am to make sure we were prepared. After checking with the receptionist desk at 1130am they stated that a crib was in route and we would go back no later than 15 mins. At 1 pm we were finally taken back with no explanation of the delay. After sitting in a room with 2 office chairs at 4pm the surgeon came in to tell us that he had cancelled my son's procedure.(After 20 hrs of consuming no food, they stated they didn't have TIME to do the scheduled procedure.) And that was it. No apologies, no compensation for time, and frankly no respect what so ever. I am currently waiting to speak with admin and if given the opportunity, my family will search elsewhere for assistance. Unless it is an emergency I would not recommend coming to Levine's children's hospital! And if it's an emergency you will need fervent prayer. The admin needs a serious wake up call in staff communication! STAY AWAY!

Went two nights ago to have my child seen. I feared she may have been dehydrated after having dealt with an unrelenting fever for a few days. She wasn't eating much and wasn't sipping fluids well on her own. She also was asleep 90 % of the day (something I had never observed before). I was not very pleased with the service provided. While I have been there times before for other reasons and have been okay with their service, this particular night was certainly in my top three for one of my worst experiences in an ER period. We arrived around 7:40 pm, and we left around 12:20 am. We didn't go to the back until 11:30pm, and we didn't have a room. We were just placed in the hallway along the wall with a bed and a chair. To top it off, the most that was done for my daughter was that she was given some Tylenol and Motrin, a popsicle, and apple juice. No tests or samples were taken and we were given the "its viral and we can't treat it" speech. I definitely felt shafted and like it was a waste of our very valuable time. Its part of the reason why I have issues with even going to healthcare providers. Despite this, I still take my kids in when they need to go. It aggravates me when people waste your time like that. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure this hospital is stocked and equipped to deal with many medical crises. Regardless, its not the equipment or resources that make a hospital great. In my opinion, its the staff

Billing Department is the absolute worst! We went to this hospital on 06-17-19 and again on 06-18-19 with our 15 month old who is very sick, no one really cared, they always called people in that came in after us and just told us itll be 10 minutes maybe 20 then the time would come and they would have another excuse, and then call someone back that came in after us as we sat their with out 15 month old for longer then 3 hours waiting to see a doctor, never got to see a doctor or get a room. Nurses were rude staff was rude and lied. Will never go back to this hospital again!

My son received treatment here and was well taken care of. As any parent knows, if your baby develops a life threatening illness then your whole world is turned upside down and you have to drop everything. Levine Children’s Hospital not only took care of my son, they also took care of me as I experienced many sleepless nights with my angel during this trying time. I always looked at children’s hospitals from a distance and saw the signs in the grocery store and wondered if they really did all they said they do, well I can tell you from first hand experience that they do. I am a single mom of four and could have never afforded the treatment my son requires but they treated him with cutting edge technology and I did not receive a bill for his care. I just want to say thank you to all the kind medical professionals here and thank you to all who contribute. In addition to the excellent care the patient receives they also have fun activities for the siblings and family who visit. My son was to young for the Ryan Seacrest recording studio but it sounded amazing. We also received blankets and booked from a local church.

Our son came here after a severe head trauma; not only did they save our son's life, now they are helping him recover! I believe the Spirit of God is all over this hospital. So thankful for all the doctors, nurses and other staff here.

My daughter underwent liver transplant surgery on last year... They provided wonderful service and care... My family is thankful to Dr. Eskind, Dr.Levi, Dr.Vani, Dr.Jerome, Nurses and many others. Wonderful service and care that I have not seen any where... Thanks to Levine for saving my daughter life. I would have given rating more than 5 but, here we have option only for 5

I am so thankful for the Doctors and staff here. My son started coming here when he was 6 years old. He was diagnosed with autoimmune & kidney disease. They treated him and put his kidney disease into remission. He is now 15 years old and fixing to get his learner's permit. He still comes to Levine. His Doctors are wonderful and keep him in check. I highly recommend this Hospital and it's Doctors and caregivers.

Very bad experience too late we wait for four hour inside children emergency waiting room. Poor management.

Kimberly Eggett

Our daughter was treated here for a cranial surgery and appreciated every nurse and Doctor along the way. We had a five day visit and had a day an ICU. I felt comfortable to ask questions, felt informed and listened to. My daughter was comfortable as they did a great job of managing her pain. They were very supportive of my nursing needs and stored our milk when she wasn't taking in any milk due to surgery. They also provided a $5 meal coupon per day, which helped with some of the costs of being there. My preschooler enjoyed playing in the play rooms to get some energy out while visiting sister. The in-room tv/computer helped pass the time with current movies to watch while baby slept. The sleeping set up isn't very comfortable but not many hospital rooms are. I brought my own pillow and blanket and that helped a lot. Overall, I appreciate the care and attention given to my little one and our family.

We've had to take our youngest here twice. Once when he accidentally squirted some chemical in his eyes at Lowes and again when he needed surgery for a major hernia. I have never had a medical experience as good as what we received at Levine...TWICE! They are friendly, caring, and above all extremely communicative. You don't sit around wondering what's happening or when you'll be seen. Other hospitals should clone this model of care.

I took my niece who is 3 in there Friday and she was running a 102.8 fever and complained of her throat hurting. I asked them to check her for strep and the first doc said she didn't think it was. They sent in the head of the ER and another doc and they say she couldn't get strep she was to young(which is a lie). She went back to her moms yesterday and her mom took her to her peds today 3/3 and they ran all test that needed to be ran. She has strep and it is so bad they are having to give her a shot of antibiotics today and tomorrow. My niece's white cell count was 23.8 and is suppose to below a 10. The waiting room stunk and there was drops of blood on the floor. I will be also calling the hospital and filing a complaint. Think twice before you take your child here. So get a call back and of course it is all of our fault and not theirs and we know nothing. They are all very hateful people to deal with and I will be totally honest and it is no better than Piedmont Medical Center and that is very bad. They want to group every child into the same category and you cant do that because not every child is the same and for some reason they are to stupid to see that. Please think before going to this place.

I truly can not believe this place. My nieces little girl was losing her balance and had just had surgery on her head for a mass on her spine. We got here at 6:45pm and it is now12:20am. We still have not seen a Dr. This is really crazy that we have waited this long and still waiting. Theirs got to be something someone can do to speed up the time that a child should have to wait.COME ON PEOPLE

I was very displeased with this emergency room, I went today (5.22.18) to take my daughter. She had an accident and her front tooth receded into her gum. I went in around 3p.m and was triaged. We waited for 4 hours seeing other patients being called back. I understand it goes by how urgent the matter is, but her tooth is receded into her gum by this time the blood has clotted. We ended up leaving to be seen somewhere else.

Randi Horne

Can't say anything about the Doctors or nurses because I waited 5 and half hours to have my 6 month old son seen in the ER and I finally had to leave to take him to another hospital. He had 103.1 fever, they gave him motrin upon arriving and sent us out to the waiting room to "wait" for a room to open. Rooms did open, but they chose that other situations where more important then ours, which I'm sure some of them where, but some where definitely not. Some complained enough that they were seen just to shut them up, and I kept getting moved down the list. When I would ask when I would be seen, they said they couldn't tell me. I will never recommend any one coming here and nor will I ever return. I was in contact with a family who had the flu and also a virus that attacks the heart, even with that said and add that my son had a fever for over 24 hours, that still wasn't important enough to be seen in a timely manner. While leaving, my son started vomiting, wasn't able to calm down, wouldn't nurse, arching his back. Instead of the staff stopping me to get him medical attention, they stopped me to get my insurance information and social security numbers, before giving them out, I asked if I was being put into a room, they told me no, they wanted to get the paperwork started. I refused to sign any paperwork and give any information before being seen, and while my son was going down hill fast, they just wanted to speak about money. So I left, they also wanted me to stop and sign a refusal to be treated form, but I told them no, I wasn't refusing, I wasn't being helped or treated. So no need to sign anything. Worst hospital experience I have EVER had in my life. I also have three kids and NEVER have I had to wait like this. Arrived at 645pm Thursday night, departed at 1215am Friday morning.

We brough our son here for a brain MRI and it was the best medical experience we have ever had. From the minute we walked in the door until the minute we left, everyone was kind and courteous. Every person we talked to was so informative and made sure we had no remaining questions. They were amazing with my son too. The hospital was clean and decorated beautifully! I wish we lived closer so we could make this our hospital of choice. Highly reccomend.

Terrible, my child was transferred from another childrens hospital for rehab due to that hospital undergoing construction for their rehab dept. There was no communication between nurses and staff, every new nurse he was given looked lost, why do you have computers with you if your not reading the chart notes, the Nurses didnt know how to change pads on neck brace, im glad the other hospital trained me on this maybe they can send some to Levine to train the staff, doctors were friendly

Daughter was sent to the ER . ER mentioned that daughter needs oxygen so we cannot send her home with just antibiotics. Hospital said she does not need oxygen . And when I called to ask about this discrepancy the doctor changed the visit from inpatient to observation . I thought the doctor made the change to help with the billing but it sounds like I will be charged more instead!

Have been on hold for 2 hours trying to confirm a child's appt with Rheumatology. Finally hung up. I called back to make a complaint. Have been sent to another hold cue. I have all the 'hold messages' memorized. Customer service gets a fail!

My husband and I are both Hospice nurses. We have just spent 8 1/2 hours in the emergency room with our daughter after being recommended to go here by three physicians in our area. The first thing I noticed was the hospital emergency room waiting area and public bathroom were absolutely filthy. The bathroom was worse than any truck stop restroom I had ever been in. The pediatric ER was loud, paging was obnoxious, and the TV was blaring. You couldn't hear the names the nurses were paging and if on the first call you didn't respond they would move on the the next patient on the list. The resident was thorough but quickly seemed like he was just playing a game of CYA having the supervising physician talk to us. Our daughter was there with abdominal pain. What we learned was she had a high white count, high liver enzymes but although she rated pain a 7 did not look like she was having enough pain to admit but did receive two doses of fentanyl and a dose of morphine. We also learned that they could admit her to manage her pain if we really wanted them too but no testing would be done on the weekend because of staffing (really at a trauma center). We also were told that she wasn't sick enough to admit and they were sending us home at 1am but after abnormal labs back they contacted her GI specialist who said he would come to say hi but would not do testing over the weekend. So we were sent home with more pain meds, a laxative and told to have someone follow her liver labs cause they shouldn't be that high but she wasn't going to emergently die from anything so no need to admit her. Well all I can say is not impressed with anything about Levines. Resident was nice. Doctor stared at us like we were idiots wasting his time. She will be getting an endoscopy which was already scheduled. Then I will be moving away from Levines and their practitioners. I grew up a baptist medical center baby having of 49 birth defect operations and would choose there anyday over my experience tonight. I'm a patient person but if it was their child in the ER would they have reacted the same way. I hope not. I guess being a Hospice nurse my standards are just too high for some places. But I am a manager at Hopice and have high expectations of my staff and I expect my patients to be treated as my family. Good luck but I wouldn't go there.
