Waited five hours before I left. They DO NOT care.

Marie Schelkle

If I could leave 0 stars I would. At 9:30 the doctor sent background on my daughter who has Stevens Johnson disease and need to be admitted and also receive treatment for the withdrawal the medication had caused. She waited in er over 2 hours. No doctor ever arrived to assess her condition. She left the er in an attempt to get help elsewhere. I even called prior to her leaving and told the person answering the er phone the severity of the situation. At this moment I do not know if my daughter will have permanent organ damage or die. I hold the hospital liable. Think long and hard before taking your loved one to this facility.

This place sucks! I have been sitting here since 12am it is now 3:17am. We haven't seen a doctor and the staff acts like we are disturbing them by being here. I will never come here again and that's sad because they are 10 min from my house.

Awesome nurses at labor and delivery! I couldn't have done it without your encouragement and help.

Ralph Myers

I was there not to long after they opened, best care by all Docs, Nurses, Even down to the kitchen workers. Would no doubt go any where els .top knoch.

Karen Everett

From admissions to doctor to nurses this place is amazing! The nurses are some of the best and most caring I have ever dealt with. The surgeon and doctors made me feel comfortable and answered all of my questions. If I have to be at the hospital, I will pick this one. Personalized care and second to none treatment.

Horrible the worst place ever I waiting in waiting toon for 2 hrs with bad chest pains no one came out to check on me I complained lady at desk did nothing. I discharged myself 30 min ago and I’m now at Wakemed.

My husband went to the emergency room at this hospital in May. It was one of the worst hospital I have ever seen or experienced. My husband's blood pressure was 190/100 and they never monitored him or did anything for him until 12:15 am. He arrived at the hospital at 8:30p.m. Almost 4 hrs later they actually did a little something for him. He was misdiagnosed too. He was told that he had a tumor behind his eye. He had no tumor, because we took the same CAT scan to our doctor and he had it sent to a Radiologist at another office in Wake County. An ID bracelet and allergy bracelet was not placed onto his wrist until 12:15 am. His blood was drawn and he was given medication without an ID and Allergy bracelet. My husband is highly allergic to codeine. Thank God they did not give him anything with codeine. Lets just say it was our first and last time of ever going to that hospital. They did nothing from that hospital except send us a bill for services that they really did not do.

From the front desk to all nurses and Dr. I had a pleasant experience in the ER. Everyone was very nice and helpful.

Charged my insurance (and me since I haven't met my deductible) $10,000 for one hour for the wrong diagnosis. Not good. Stay clear of this place. Plenty of other reviews to support what I've stated.

Bridget Jernigan

When you have been waiting in the ed for 2 hours and the nurse says it will take probably 3 more before you are seen questions begin to get asked. Especially since there are only 2 other people in the emergency room to be seen!!!!

Arthur Watkins

Talk about a racket. I waited for 3 hours on a Sunday afternoon. I paid $200 up front. I decided after waiting that long that I would go somewhere else. Oh no! No refund, no money back, you're gonna wait. I was seen, and misdiagnosed. It cost me going to 3 other doctors actually. So there was the $200 up front. Then I paid the ER another 90 something dollars. Then I paid Johnston Health Services over $100, now I owe Wake Emergency Physicians over $100. So an ER visit with great insurance and a misdiagnosis after waiting over 3 hours costs about $500. Wow. The staff was dismissive and cold. I asked for a refund of the $200 fee up front and was told that policy dictates that they don't give refunds. I asked to see the policy but they didn't have one to show me. I learned my lesson. I didn't come on here just to complain. If you have to visit the ER, go somewhere else.

Courtney Hearn

Absolutely loved my experience in the women's center for the delivery of our little one. The nurses were very encouraging and so sweet. They took the time to read and discuss my birthing plan, and actually did all the could to follow the plan! I highly recommend this hospital for labor/delivery!

Deb S

This is a smaller hospital. My family like going here, even for emergencies because we feel they give more attention to care than the other hospitals that are closer to our home.

Berry Bee

I go here for my psychiatric appointments and I don't think they really spend THAT much time on you, specifically Dr.A, but I do think he knows what he is talking about, so in that way he may not need to know your whole life story. The wait was like an hour at certain points, and at others it was maybe 15 minutes. I would probably rate this a 3.5 if I had that option, maybe even a four as I continue to return to this facility. Note, I'm only commenting on the psychiatric services but I'm not sure what exactly they provide.

Francis Steele

I am 60,been in a lot of hospitals in my life, this has to be the worst care I have ever had!!!!! Slow as hell and dotctor very inattentive and really didn't seem to listen to what I was telling him! Been here 6 hrs still no closer to having any satisfaction!

Jay Stotler

Spent less than 120 minutes in the Emergency Room in December, less than 15 minutes with the PA and Imaging tech combined, spoke with the Johnston County Sheriff for about 25 minutes (it was a car accident). Told the staff when I was admitted I did NOT have insurance and that they need to bill me IMMEDIATELY so I could get COBRA if the bills were too high. Took OVER SIX MONTHS to receive a bill from UNC for nearly $9,000!!! This is after their vendors already billed me in DECEMBER for THE SAME SERVICES UNC says I owe them for. Reached out to UNC through their "portal" and was told they do NOT negotiate or accept settlements (which is obviously a lie as UNC negotiates with insurance companies on a daily basis). I asked to have a manager contact me regarding this issue. The "managers" refuse to return my calls. I required no stitches, no casts, nothing. All they did was clean the cuts I got in my car accident, sent me for an X-RAY and CT Scan as there was concerns I may have a concussion, which was a legitimate concern. I *NEVER* met with anyone other than a PA and Imagining Tech from UNC and they believe this is worth nearly $9,000!!! IF UNC had billed me in DECEMBER like they said they would, I could have gotten COBRA to cover these costs. As it was, I did not receive a bill from UNC for nearly SIX months however, I received bills form UNC's vendors for the X-Rays, CT Scan and PA within DAYS of being in the hospital. UNC's Business administrators don't care about my financial well being and are doing NOTHING to assist me in being able to make payments that I can afford. When messaging them, they refuse to do anything, the staff refuses to return calls despite leaving multiple voicemails. I'm beginning to think collection agencies are more willing to work with me on setting up a payment plan I can afford than UNC. UNC is dictating what I have to pay despite me telling them I CANNOT afford their minimum payment.

I drove myself to this hospital ER and had to stay 36 hours. The personnel are EXTREMELY Nice with a great bedside manner. I would like to mention Chris (with the piercings) Chris without, Dr. Dev, Heather, Attila, Kimberly and whoever s name I forgot. You guys were the bomb for my first time in a hospital in the US. The lack of 1 star was for the food service which éd really sucked. Thank you.

The Select Few Gaming

I've been here one time and was taken care of quickly and my son was taken here twice and both times taken care of quickly and everyone was polite and knowledgeable.

I went to this ER with abdominal pain that turned out to be my appendix. They had a surgeon come in and do the operation after I'd been in the ER for 12 long hours. The staff was okay but poor communication. I felt like they had no urgency about getting me taken care of, they just let me sit in the ER in pain from 3 a.m. until sometime in the afternoon, and never gave me a time for the operation, every time I asked it was "we don't know." When I finally got to surgery, I felt like they were all rushing and trying to push me in and out as fast as they could, no real care was taken to explain things to me or take care of me. I was literally rushed in and rushed out. Sent home the same day with very little pain medicine and sparse instructions. Follow up care was awful, the surgeon had no empathy at all. The surgeon I had was from NC Surgery and her name is Dr. Jeri Dickinson. When I called her office about some sharp pains and low grade fever a few days after, I was told it was normal and I just needed to take pain medicine as directed, and she would write a prescription for some more because I wasn't given much to start with. Then the next day she wrote a prescription and my husband picked it up, took it to the pharmacy, and then she called the pharmacy and cancelled it for no reason, saying she needed to see me. But by that time it was 4pm and they can't see me until the next day. At that point it had already been 36 hours since I had first called about the pains I was having. What?! After this craziness, I decided the surgeon is a complete lunatic and I will have my records transferred elsewhere and will just go to a different hospital and find a new surgeon to follow up with, thank you very much. I would not have gone here if I'd thought I needed major surgery to begin with, but I really thought that over the years, this hospital would have improved. Alas, no, it's still sub standard with second rate staff. I'm sorry to say I won't be going back. And my advice to everyone else...avoid this place like the plague!

Tre Goode

Do not go here at all cost they are very un professional if I could have gave no stars I would have. Next time I'm going to WakeMed!!

Phillip Yates

Terrible place. Staff is horrible and has no care for patients. Dr was an idiot and no clue how to diagnose or treat anything. Guess they just show up for the paycheck.

Barb Willard

Love this hospital and the staff

WORST experience of my life regarding a hospital. I suffer from emphysema. All power was out in my neighborhood and my neighbor fireman came to check on me. He called the EMS immediately as I needed more oxygen than I had and was under stress. Get to the ER; Dr Vick/Vice came in to see me. I was hooked up to oxygen immediately. I gave all info required including meds that I was taking regularly. Soon after Dr Vick/Vice saw me she refused to admit me saying I could go home. Home to what exactly???? No power, no oxygen? I needed my medicines that I take to live. They refused to give me any on my list. They "made" me sign a release form, but would allow me to sleep on the slab overnight just to use the oxygen. When I asked for my meds, they told me I was discharged and weren't going to help me. I could get them at home. These meds are inhalers and anxiety pills. Plus I have acid reflux. I asked for a pillow to elevate my head to breath better. DENIED. I asked for a tylenol as I developed a headache around 10 pm...denied. I asked for a cup of coffee....guy told me someone would bring it to me. Six hours later, I slept some of that time, I realized no coffee. I paged again and asked for coffee....told the machine was broken. I asked for juice. Never got that either. FINALLY, I asked to tylenol. I said you have denied me treatment. Oh, but you signed the discharge papers; yea, so I could get the oxygen. So I had to enter again as a new patient for the next doctor to give me three tylenol, and a nebulizer treatment. NEVER got a thing to drink for 12 hours. Nurse brought a wheelchair and my friend rolled me out. Not one word from anyone there. I wouldn't recommend my dog going there. This isn't the end of this saga. I am only beginning!!!!!

If I could give it less than one star, I would. If you have a emergency, you better take yourself somewhere else because you’ll die in the waiting room before you’ll get seen by a doctor. I spent 3.5 hours last night (03/25/19) at this hospital because I have a severe allergy to peanuts, and I accidentally ate a dish that I had no clue contained peanuts. I went there checked in, and was told to sit in the waiting room. I spent 3 and a half hours watching my symptoms get worse, but luckily I’m a smart dude and loaded up on benedryl before i went to the hospital which is what they would’ve done for me anyways. I decided to go home at 12:30 am, take more benedryl, and stay awake for several more hours with an epi pen next to me. And I swore that if I went into anaphylactic shock, I would stab myself with the epi pen, call an ambulance and beg them to take me to any hospital that ISNT JOHNSTON HEALTH. I’d rather die on the way to a hospital in Raleigh than die in their waiting room. STAY AWAY.

Billy Weisberg

Just had an appendectomy last night. From the CNAs to the surgeon, professional and friendly staff. Super small hospital, which was nice.

Michael Wolff

This place was unprofessional i was in pain crying and throwing up in the ER and the guy from tridge told me it was going to be a 2 hour wait. Apperently they didnt seem I left to go to a different hospital come to find out they had to emergency take out my appendix because it was about to burst. They were rude and didnt care. I was throwing up and they took the guy with a hurting knee. Obviously they didnt care that i was emergent and left a sick person in the waiting room around other people. What if i was contagious or the appendix burst in the waiting room. Never again will i go there and on top of that a lady came out from the back saying they will never go back again

CATRINA SMITH

I simply called for a date visited the ER for insurance purposes (it was 4:30m), I was sent to a voicemail. I called back it was then that I was informed that the information was only availabe through medical records and they closed at 4:30 pm. In my opinion that should have been said in the beginning of the conversation instead of automatically sending me to a voicemail with no information. (Customer Service is very important and this particular person missed the mark)

I entered the emergency room complaining of severe abdominal and back pain. I was taken into admissions at light speed, and with great concern. My triage was as fast as could be. From the gentleman that took me in at admissions to the nurses that had me at triage, this was absolutely the best experience i could have hoped for. Throughout the tests and waiting i was made as comfortable as humanly possible, the night shift nurses were fabulous and professional all the while giving me the humor and jovial treatment to ease my worries, admittingly i was pretty scared. The nurses on the night shift were awesome. Eventually i was to meet the anesthesia folks, they were also very kind and professional and answered every question i had and did their very best to put me at ease. My doctor that did the surgery was every bit the pro i could have hoped for too. Recovery and the great nurses of the day shift had me after that, they were absolutely the best and on the ball, needless to say my entire time for the last 24 hours was the absolute best in healthcare experience i have ever had. You kind folks and professionals at Johnston healthcare deserve these accolades . Also the food was really decent too. Rose,Tracey and Maggie, you ladies are angels. Im sorry if i dont remember the rest of the names involved ,but you know who you all are and due and deserving of all the same respect. Thank you to all from the bottom of my gall bladder.

Abigail Siler

Misdiagnosed my miscarriage and told me I was fine. 5 hours, bloodwork and an ultrasound and they still gave me wrong information. Had they done a pelvic exam maybe I wouldn’t have continued thinking I was pregnant for 4 more days. Cant wait to get my $500 bill in the mail that I will dispute. This place is the worst. Avoid it at all costs. If at all possible, wait until somewhere else is opened or drive to a further ER

Jenny Massey

Well, I can't give a a one star or a five star review. Every interaction prior to this year I have had with this location has been great....until this year....I was scheduled for a procedure in Feb and got there to check in and was told that my procedure had been cancelled, yet no one called me to inform me. The doctor's office said no one had informed them either. The ladies at registration were awesome though (can't remember their names but they are always there) Finally got it sorted out and rescheduled for today (March 19) and got there again the ladies at the registration desk were great and a lot of fun. I got checked in and went to get my labs drawn. Shane (Female) drew my labs and she got my blood on the first try which usually never happens. She was great. I no sooner sat down in the waiting room from that and Rachel, RN came out to get me and took me to my room . I got into my hospital gown and Rachel came back in for vitals and to do a H&P. She did a great job taking my history and explaining the procedure and what to expect during my time there. She got to my medication list and as soon as she saw Amitryptilline as one of my meds she stopped and went straight to the doc that was going to do my procedure. He had to cancel the procedure today because Neal in scheduling , while very nice and accommodating, neglected to go over my meds with me and tell me to stop taking that particular medicine for 48 hours. He told me no aspirin or blood thinners. He told me he had a copy of my med list which my doctor had sent over to him with the order and everything else on the list was fine. Had Rachel, the RN not caught the error and they had gone ahead with the procedure I could be in ICU right now or worse....dead from seizures brought on by this med interacting with the contrast in the procedure. I think the staff and service at this hospital for the most part are phenomenal but I believe they need to do some work on their scheduling department. They need to be educated better on what things to tell the patient when scheduling and also to be sure and call a patient if a procedure is cancelled. Because of the scheduling department, I have wasted two days of time off at work to end up still not having this procedure done that needs to be done. Because of the education and quick thinking on the nurse, Rachel's part, I am not in the hospital sick or worse tonight so thank you to the patient care staff today but please, work on your scheduling department.

I wish I could give this place zero stars. We took our one-year-old, who has RSV and double ear infections. The doctor had the nerve to tell us we shouldn't be giving her anabiotic's, to avoid her having diarrhea. Went to her doctor the next day and they told us she has severe ear infections and she absolutely needs the medicine. Also, he told us her yeast infection wasn't very bad, when her bottom is covered in blisters and yeast. I definitely do not recommend anyone taking a pediatric patient to this place. Go to wake med, where they care about children. Johnston health doesnt take illness seriously, even when the baby is screaming for five hours in unbearable pain.

Lynn Harper

My daughter had her first child here on July 4th. We had not ever used this facility or heard anything about it. She received the best care possible from these highly experieced and wonderful nurses. It brings tears to my eyes to just think about how they took such good care of her (and the baby). This experience has made me look at nurses with much more respect. Most of our contact was with nurses and housekeeping. And those ladies in housekeeping were great. I tried to borrow Ms. Barbara's broom to clean a mess that I made, right after she left from cleaning it, but with a genuine, mothering smile on her face she said I will come and take care of it. And I know she gets paid to do that, but her caring attitude went beyond the job. So in conclusion, because I could go on for pages, this a wonderful facility. I highly recommend it.

Jerri Biggs

From the ER to an extended stay on 2nd flr, we have received the upmost care for my Dad. Honestly couldn't ask for better care or for more caring people.

Robert Ellis

My wife and I had our son here in the birthing center 12/9/17. The staff was amazing and the facility very nice. This is the only reason for three stars otherwise I would give one star. There is a major lack of staff available and lack of birthing rooms. We had to change rooms twice! The staff are overworked and appear exhausted. Even in the cafe there appears to be a staff shortage. Food takes hours to be served and is crazy over priced. Management needs to get this fixed. You are serving a much larger population then you originslly planned for. You messed up now fix it. Hire more staff and expand.

Joyce Brafford

My husband and I have both had procedures here. I had surgery, and he had an MRI. The staff could not have been any better. Incredibly professional, friendly, and committed to making everything easy. The facility was clean, bright, and well provisioned. I was very happy with our service, and this is my hospital of choice.

Tina Johnson

Disappointed with this place. I wont rant why for its a lot, however, i NEVER write reviews!. Only reason i gave a 2 is because some (only some) of the nurses were kind and genuinely caring.

Shaundi S

Horrible ER nurse named melissa. She should never be the face of this hospital.

If your feeling bad and looking a way to blow a day this is the hospital for you. Long wait times under staffed. Another hospital not able to meet the needs of the community.

John Emory

Great service from ER and Hospital staff the attending Drs take time to discuss your concerns and issues in detail.

Beth Saroka

I was traveling from out of town for the holidays and had a Kidney Stone attack and had to be Hospitalized and had to have surgery. Everyone there from ER to DR's to Nurses were GREAT! Thank you for your help!

I came in here for a hip reduction and I told them I wanted to be put to sleep. The nurse came in and said your being discharged with a dislocated hip. I thought I had say over this. They wanted to reset it with no pain meds. I asked to be transferred to duke er they said we don't do that. If I had a way to duke right now I would leave here. Been here 8 hrs. No pain meds

Yaritza Arimont

Eva Bolding

The doctor was very rude and didn't do the full work on my husband why we was there. We was there for 3 hrs waiting for the doctor and then the doctor told us to leave and go find a doctor of our own. I will never come back here.

Horrible experience! These doctors and nurses have no sympathy. They treated my wife and I cold and in a hurry as if we were bothering them. And as if she was a child talking down to her. And as if she was only there for drugs! The overnight nurse was rude and full of sarcasm. Saying she has had a migraine before too but my wife never did, infact without putting too much personal information on here we weren’t there for a migraine! When it’s the day after Christmas and the last place we want to be is in a hospital they should up their game! If they want to be home as well, then perhaps choose a different profession. We are not the type of folks that go to the doctor or hospital for just any reason. This was an emergency! when my wife’s temperature spikes to 102 she’s confused, can’t eat and has a massive headache for the past 48 hours that an urgent care place couldn’t control with a shot, the day before and urged us to go to hospital if she doesn’t get better in a day, I’d say it’s time to check what’s going on. Yet when asking the doctor if she can get a cat scan he rejects the idea only to give us the same pain Med we just told them she had been given on Xmas day. I finally had to plead with him to give her something to control the pain, she was crying, they gave her Benadryl which put her to sleep for a while then, And sent us home with the same diagnosis that urgent care gave us. The pain continues once home again. ALL This is a reason for me to write this review for others to see. Or maybe they have preference of what people they choose to treat with care. Don’t go to this hospital if you can drive to another perhaps in Raleigh!!

irene escamilla

I was recently at this hospital with my boyfriend due to a pain he had on his left side right underneath his rib. Worst experience in a hospital Ive ever had. Our doctors were being rude and sarcastic and thought making jokes about him not dying would be funny. The discharge nurse didnt explain anything correctly and when she asked if we had more questions, and we did, she got aggravated and made it noticeable. I believe a hospital is to keep a patient updated correctly and formally. Terrible patient care at this place.

Susan Mason

My mother was there yesterday with a life threatening situation and they said there was nothing they could do and sent her home. I will NEVER EVER go to the ER in Clayton. We are at the one in Smithfield and I have no complaints about this ER or the hospital. They have seen her and are treating her well.

RogueShadow

The staff in the emergency room needs work on how they interact with patients. I've been here many times due to severe Crohn's disease, and every time I've been I've been treated like I was a drug addict. I have a port for my infusions and was questioned why I would need one at such a young age. It's embarrassing enough to have to go to the ER because I can't handle this horrible disease, but now I have to endure this treatment. I know that drug addicts are a big problem in the ER but those of us with serious health issues aren't there for that and it isn't okay to treat us like this. I really hope the staff really understands what I'm saying here.

I have never in my born days have i seen so many people talk how bad this hospital is and for such a long period of time. And i agree with everyone of. every time one of my family members goes there they tell me that nothing was really done for them while they we there.last time one of my kids went there it was like 5 pm and she got seen around 12 am the next day. Last time i went was for bad burning pain where i had had hernia surgery and they really didn't want to address that problem for some reason and sent me home in pain with nothing for it.but i bet my bill for it when out fast.

Beanie Baby

First of all I just want to preface this by saying my wife and I (especially my wife) are two of the kindest, most gentle people you will ever meet. This is by far the absolute WORST hospital my wife and I have ever been to. The staff treats you like a child - calling you kiddo and talking down to you because you ask them a question about what is going on. The staff is also slow, and they don't care about what you want. They even had the nerve to ask my wife what she wanted from her ER "experience". ISNT THAT YOUR JOB TO HELP THE PATIENTS FIGURE OUT? If we knew what was going on, we wouldn't be there in the first place. The nurse we had actually tried to get a prescription for my wife who is breastfeeding our 5 month old and had the nerve to ask her to figure out if it was safe to use while nursing. SERIOUSLY? What do the staff here even do? The nurse we had actually had the gall to start putting my wife down and insulting her repeatedly for even coming in - as if what we were worried about wasn't significant. Finally after 3 hours of waiting around with absolutely zero actual help, being consistently harassed, put down and talked down to we finally left with my wife in tears. PLEASE, if you need to go to a hospital DO NOT GO HERE YOU WILL ABSOLUTELY REGRET IT! Take the extra time to go to Red or Wake Med - I know we will be doing just that going forward - even for life threatening emergencies!

Lorraine Modzelewski

Very unfortunate that when a patient inadvertently leaves an item behind in their room it gets stolen rather than being turned in. No accountability.

meka norman

Go here if want a doctor that misdiagnose you and if you wanna go back home sick and confused. This company need to be sued. Will look into their policies. Doctor was unsure of issue and unaware with simple medication. The secretary is also lost. How you work in a field that you dont know notjing about. What are your policies? Duh. Will reach out to upper bc something have to be done.

Matthew Fuller

Terrible. Nurses are wonderful! I can not state that enough. The nurses are great! The doctors on the other hand are not present. They visit once a day in the afternoon for about 5 minutes. The doctors are understaffed and the ones we've met, offer no intelligent solutions. I will go to REX or Wake Med for now on. Even if I have to travel 45 more mins.

Anita Star

It was my experience that everyone involved in my er visit was professional, kind and friendly. I did not have a long wait time. My er nurse was an RN named Kristen and she was simply the best. Most people cannot hit my vein. She got it the first time with little discomfort and she was quick.

Only because I was forced to give 1 star. ER is horrible!!!!!! they know nothing!!!!!!! Don't look for a thorough exam. They can't even do a proper stitch. Just keep going to Wake Med or somewhere anywhere!!!

Pedro Macedo

Horrible hospital, worst service slow, slow, i would not recommend this hospital, front desk er receptionist are rude, If you have an emergency please just go to wake med or rex,

ER, Broken arm. Nursing staff poor 1star, EMS very good 4stars, Radiology very good 4stars, ER doc, Dr Kammer, excellent 5 stars. My overall wait/visit time was satisfactory. Initial nurse more interested in flirting with the EMT. I asked her for another ice pack and never saw her again. The next nurse was marginally better. It was the radiology tech that actually raised a side rail up that had been left down (a big no no) and gave gave me the call bell after I had been in the ER for over an hour. I never used it, but nursing staff not introducing themselves, not showing any interest in or compassion for the patient, nor giving and explaining a call bell then shutting the door is unacceptable (I know because I am an RN with 34 yrs of experience). They sent a tech in to put my sling on, she was not very gentle with my broken arm and didn't seem very knowledgable about applying the sling (although she did bring me an ice pack as I was leaving). Dr Krammer was kind, compassionate, gave excellent explanations and thoroughly answered my questions! I can't say enough good things about him!!! This is the first review I have ever done, and I did not do it to earn points.

Bonnie Reeves

I was here for 2 days and everyone was great to me from the Er to the 3rd floor staff.

Mickey Jay

I have been to this ER 3 times in the last two weeks, was told I needed emergency surgery by one doctor and released, returned again due to severe pain and bleeding, the Dr that was there tonight treated me like I was a junkie, and said that I couldn't be hurting that bad,I have never been treated with such disregard as I was by the Dr that was working tonight.save your time and money and go to another hospital

Get my dad here for the allergic ER, get to the room and wait 30 mins for the nurse come in then 30 mins again for docs come in. That not finished, had to wait another 40 mins for their paperwork.

In the very early morning hours on 1/5/18, my wife was admitted (from the ER) for an intestinal obstruction. The ER staff was quick and helpful. The staff on the 3rd floor, while very helpful, is woefully understaffed. Had to call the 3rd floor call center from home this evening (1/7) to get her help. As for the doctor on staff that monitors her treatment, he did not have a very good bedside manner. While we only live a short distance from UNC Johnston (Clayton), we'll probably consider Wake Med or UNC Rex in the future.

Out of all the hospitals in North Carolina and I've been to many this is by far the worst business with a capital be that I have ever been to the waiting time is 426 hours depending on what you have I've seen flocks of people go in and out for minor things while I'm sitting there with severe cramping severe pain on the floor crying they're more worried about getting your billing information while under their Cardiac Care with potentially life-threatening emergency such as heart attack or stroke they are more worried about getting your billing information than they are getting information that might lead to saving your life they screw up their Labs all the time I've had to sit there for hours trying to get one blood lab results because every time they take my blood they go upstairs and come back down and say the blood had messed up in the lab this is just the tip of the iceberg when I have more time and more patience I will give a more thorough review thank you

I came in because I had gotten extremely dizzy and hot almost to the point of almost passing out. An EMT was at the same nail salon and had me drink juice. By the time the ambulance came it was up but I came to the ER to get checked out because I'm 22 weeks pregnant. The nurse acted like it was an issue because my blood sugar never tested low since I know the juice will keep me from passing out and hurting my unborn baby that's what I'm gonna do. I cant just wait for it to test low. Hopefully I'll have nice nurses when I come to have my baby

Went to the EMERGENCY ROOM for severe chest pain, jaw, back and left arm heaviness. Filled out paperwork stating the same AND INCLUDED I had take 4 nitroglycerin pills 40 minutes prior. Sat in the waiting area...one other person for 10 minutes. Was called back and the nurse started inquiring about my back pain. She advised there was NOTHING indicating chest and left arm heaviness or the nitro I had taken, in the triage chart. I left due to the incompetence of the staff to this point.

Melissa Ciamillo

I’ve been sitting in the waiting room of this ER with my very sick sister for almost three hours and we are still waiting. Several folks that arrived after us have been called back. The triage nurse was extremely presumptuous and asked barely any questions. He was also rolling eyes and making “I’m confused” faces during our 90 second triage. I won’t be back.

Timaughi Timaughi

Arrived at 9:15pm wife in crisis. Receptionist did not understand the severity of a sickle cell crisis. 10:52pm- nurse came in with agitation in her voice and i had called for medication twice, once by bedside alarm and the other by walking to nurses station. Wife finally called with Alert advising them of the severity of crisis and nurse came in and gave her oxygen. Horrible Hospital. No sensitivity towards patients at all. The are just sitting around the nurses station gossiping about unnecessary topics. Even if a doctor is not available be sensitive and sympathetic toward patients in pain. All in how you communicate. I guess they didn’t learn that part while perusing their healthcare career. never coming here again after tonight. Shut this place down or get good quality people to work here.

Rachel Gates

Been there twice. Both times were good. My husband went in for kidney stone at 130am on a Friday night and they got us right in. Nurses were great! Attentive and funny.

Victoria Autry

Hands down the best care I have ever received.

Zachary Knight

I will start this by saying the ONLY reason I gave it three stars is due to the staff on the second floor of the new UNC part of the building, they were fantastic to us. The rest of the experience was an absolute joke. The ER is absolutely terrible and the staff we dealt with weren't great at all. It took 4 hours to be brought back and another 30-45 mins after that before we actually saw a doctor. After being seen by the doctor it was as if we were forgotten about and weren't seen for another couple of hours other than a nurse coming in to hook up an IV. Thank god it turned out my wife didn't have any serious issue, she would probably have died waiting in this place!

Linda Moreland

After suffering a broken femur I was taken to Johnston Health Clayton. From admittance to discharged to Rehab I had wonderful care from the Emergency Department, and the 3rd Floor. I was very pleased with everything that was done for me, and the professionalism shown at all times . I highly recommend this hospital for any care you need.

Ashley Britt

I had a wonderful experience in labor and delivery. Nurses were on top of any issues I had. The L&D rooms are very nice and spacious, I also liked the fact that you stay in the same room from beginning to end.

Heather Ferrell

My boyfriend was taken to Johnson Health in Clayton after a bicycle crash. He was transported via ambulance and I arrived approximately an hour after he got there. When I arrived, I found basically the only thing that had been done for him was an x-ray. He'd not been given any pain medication and his cuts were still weeping and dirty from the crash. He was sitting on the bed shaking from the pain and had not even been offered any water. I went out to the nurses station and (firmly) requested assistance. "His" nurse was in the room in less than 5 minutes. It was only then he received his pain medication and his wounds were washed/dressed. All patients should be taken care of equally and with the utmost care. It wasn't until he had someone else who was mobile for him to receive even a portion of the care he should have already had. My recommendation...ask the ambulance to take you to WakeMed. You won't regret it.

Kelsey Evans

My wife had a burn and they had us sitting for over an hour. When I went to the receptionist still no response. So I made sure they didn't use my credit card and we left. Walked into urgent care and they took us right in. Thank God, because she was in serious pain. I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN. Johnston County should of known... 11/28/17.

Megan Cavitt

My brother is disabled and can be very aggressive. Him and me live with my 75 year old grandmother. He has threatened her multiple times and they will not admit him to the mental hospital even when we had a psychiatrist referral. The social worker is really rude and told us they cant do anything. Please do not go here seeking help cause this hospital doesnt care about patients just making money!

Monica Perry

For the most part the care and service is excellent. We have 4 children that we care for (grandchildren) I, and other family members have been there several times over the years and we have ALWAYS received outstanding service!

Kimberly Rose scoggins

I was VERY disappointed by care given in the ER!! I had fallen 2 days prior to my visit yesterday. And was experiencing an immense amount of pain in my lower back & hip. Once taken back to a room, NO Nurse or Doctor or PA. I had to press the call button to get water so I could take Advil I had in my purse!! I WILL NOT GO BACK!!!!

Keith Ketcham

I've been here twice and waited in the ER for over three hours each time. I would have to be desperate to go back.

I will recommend this location to any expectant mother. We had or little one here and from admission to discharge, our experience and stay here was great! The nurses were all so very nice and attentive. Questions were always answered with honesty and intellect. We had two favorite nurses who just went above and beyond for us. The baby’s nurses were also great and were so helpful when it had been pass 24 hrs of us getting no sleep and a cranky baby that we could not calm down. We had a small incident with one of the ladies at the cafeteria but the cafeteria supervisor came directly to our room, maybe 10 minutes after the incident and went above and beyond to make things right. The rooms are spacious and the bed for daddy to sleep on is an actual mattress! I know my husband was so grateful for that. I personally loved that I never felt judge for our decisions with our child like opting for certain shots only and having a mixed diet of formula and breast milk.

Angela Dolese Brothers

I have been in this hospital twice now. Both times by choice. All of the staff and the doctors have been wonderful. I had a doctor himself call to check on me and see if i had an questions or if i needed help trying to get into see a specialists. That meant so much to me. I will recommend this hospital to anyone looking for a good hospital. And if I do have to go back for any reason I know I will be treated well.

richard strickland

What actually started off as a bad “first impression”, eventually became a great experience. There are bad apples in every field of work with medical being no exception. After a shaky start, the care became top notch with an over the top caring doctor and great nurses and staff. Would definitely recommend this ER and hospital. I will probably end up going back there to have some further test done. Thank you for your care.

Terri Hill

I have been to this emergency room several times over the last 3 years. All staff no matter how important or menial their job may be, treats patients with courtesy and respect. Wait time is usually not that long even for minor health issues. Very clean and modern facility. Has a full cafeteria as well as vending machines. No smoking campus.

Janice Mangum

Blood on the floor and on the bed rails! Unsanitary and nasty.

Melissa Simonelli

The billing practices at this hospital is dispictable. Make sure you call and "set" a payment plan instead of just making monthly payments because if you don't they still send you to collections. When it goes to collections if you try and call the hospital on it they shuffle from person to person back to the collection agency instead of working it out with you. Mind you payments had been paid monthly with checks that had cleared. What customer service.

Lee Canady

Took my wife there a couple of years ago with all of her medications for RA. She was screaming from a bad flare up in her back. They kept asking me to quiet her down. 4 hours later they said she was there trying to obtain pain medication. After I insisted they look at her prescriptions. They realized we had a full bottle of hydrocodone. Idiots

Tracey Doxbeck

Worst care we have ever experienced Rude hospital staff and nursing staff Wouldnt go here ever again worth the drive to go elsewhere. Thats is on top of the 6 hr wait just to be seen.

Jazzydiva 40

Had to go there last year for a bad stomach virus. The doctors and nurses talked down to me like I was a child. They put me in a room and left for a while thinking I didn't have insurance. When I gave them my card all attitudes changed. The male nurse didn't help me at all. I told him I needed to use the restroom. He just showed me the door and left me. So while he was sitting at the nurse's station I was bent over walking to the restroom. I will never go here again. Piece of advice to healthcare professionals, if you are not willing to perform your job duties to the best of your ability regardless of someone's race, religion, sex, or nationality, please seek another career.

Jessica Starling

Yes. The waiting sucks like almost every hospital. Was there for about 9 hours. But that is to be expected on a holiday at a hospital. Nurse and doctor was so kind and explained everything so I could understand. I freak out at hospitals and my nurse made me laugh even though I was in so much pain. And my heart rate normally is way over 120 at a hospital. He was so kind and calming it was 86! That is a huge deal. I would wait all day for the treatment I received.

This week my son injured his wrist while playing high school football. I took him to the emergency on HWY 42 as I knew they had an X-ray and MRI machine if needed. I went there apprehensively as I had heard rumors of poor service. Nonetheless, the wait time short, we were triaged quickly and placed in a room (so far so good). The Dr. came in a sent him for X-rays which took all of 10 minutes. Upon my sons arrival back to the room a nurse comes in the room and just starts putting a splint on him NO EXPLANATION, then a BRACE still NO EXPLANATION! I had to ask “hey what’s this for, what’s the diagnosis?” Oh the Dr. will tell you when he’s back... and she walks out. The Dr. comes back and says it’s a bad sprain, follow up with the specialist and that was it. I am at a loss of words. I have EXCELLENT insurance and believe all people deserve to be treated with respect or how you want to be treated. I will be following this post up with a letter to the hospital and filing a FORMAL COMPLAINT. Nonetheless, my son fractured his scaphoid and is in a cast for 2-6 weeks. Wrong diagnosis!

suzette genza

My husbands and my experience with the Clayton ER and inpatient services were amazing! Everyone was nice, caring, and took care of all our needs fast! Dr. Willis is wonderful and the whole staff from the ER and our inpatient team! Thanks for everything! Will definitely let everyone know! Oleh and Suzette Genza

Tammy Eickhoff

If I could give a zero I would. Blood in urine equals a bronchitis diagnosis for these guys and prescriptions for bronchitis! This place is the worst. I would rather be treated by a witch doctor!

Laura Taylor

We've been to this hospital several times, my spouse is in there now. From ER to floor staff, everyone has always been helpful, courteous, and very competent. The place is clean, the staff is caring without being intrusive, and doctors, nurses, and services is always professional and compassionate.

Samantha Whitehead

Worst hospital ever.. that’s all I gotta say

Marissa Brink

Taylor Wilcox

I just recently delivered my son here, I went to southeast womens center in smithfield my experience with both the OB office and johnston health clayton were better than I could have asked for. All of the doctors and nurses were amazing and on top of everything. Definitely recommend them!!

ryan haire

There’s a reason for so many complaints. I’m just adding mine to the pile. Stay CLEAR!

Nicole Ajaeb

Worst ER ever. They leave you in pain for hours on end.

Jenifer Friedman

They suck!!!! They don't help you. If you need pain meds your a junkie.. they don't look at your history and see that you really do have a medical condition!!!!!

Self Reliance

Used to be an employee here. I can tell you from the inside this place is a joke. Unsympathetic nurses, rude and nasty xray/ct staff, right down to the housekeepers and security. These people are the refuse that other hospitals get rid of and they cant get a job anywhere else. Had to leave here just due to the negative attitudes, ER docs who don't give a darn, and a horrible management now run by Smithfield. Run away.....far away!!!!!!!

Octane

If I could give zero stars here I would too. The doctors leave you waiting for hours upon hours. Its a joke. We have spent 8 hours in ER in this damn place, done 3 tests and seen 2 doctors and there is an hour wait between everything that happens. Have called the nurses multiple times, have gone out to meet with them face to face. I am missing a day of work and an important meeting with senior management because my wife was having some painful breathing problems. I dont mind having to be there with my wife, but being ignored for hour after hour, the requests for her pain meds being ignored, all of it is just a big F'in joke. I would never, EVER come to this hospital again, not if my life depended on it.

Uwera Angelique

Fast service but that's because they don't do a thing for you. Took my son here tonight and the doctor pretty much decided he wasn't sick before even walking in the door. Pricked his finger for freaking diabetes check while the 4 year old is showing all signs of the flu or stomach virus. We were quickly dismissed only to get home 10 minutes later my son gets terribly ill and a 103 fever, chills. At this point I won't even waste my time and money in this place. Been going to UNC for more than a decade and this is the first time I've been disappointed. This place is giving UNC healthcare a bad rap. Wish there was a way to dismiss an insurance claim or bill based on being horribly treated. Editing to add that despite Dr. Lindsay dismissing us, my son was treated by his primary care pediatrician and was diagnosed with Strep throat. The doctor diagnosed him by just looking at him for 2 minutes...low and behold the test came back positive and was given antibiotics. Please follow your instincts if you feel like you were misdiagnosed by doctors in this ER.

Allison Willey

I've never posted a review before, but I've been here 3 times this week for physician labwork. The other 3 times I had no issues other than extremely long wait time. This time was the opposite. As I stand at the registration desk to check in, another person walks in the door and the receptionist diverts all her attention and proceeds to help the man with locating a Dr, Google the address, and tell him how to get to the office. He leaves, and she starts helping me again. Then 3 more people come in and she tells me to have a seat while she helps those people and does my paperwork. I have worked in the medical field and in retail for many years and you are never to push one person aside when another comes in. Not to mention what took 10 minutes to register the other 3 times this week, took 20 minutes this time. And this was time sensitive lab work that is likely going to have to be redone because of their tardiness.

Lolita Pate

Worst hospital ever! If I could give 0 stars I would. Definitely not an 'emergency hospital'. My husband went in for a bad cut on his leg and almost died in there! The wound was stabilized when we went in then they removws the bandages and it started bleeding again. Then it took hours for someone to come and help stop the bleeding . He had a seizure and past out. What a nightmare. I was so frightened for him. We are never going back there!

MJBR Milia Bryant

My experience at Johnston County UNC hospital was horrendous and I hope that I may never ever have to visit that hospital again. This experience has also caused me to feel that I no longer wish to be involved with the UNC health care System.

Preston White

I cannot speak for the rest of the hospital since I've only been a patient once but the Women's Pavilion is awesome! I had my baby there and the staff was amazing. They helped me so much through the delivery and post partum processes. The nursing staff is a Godsend! I highly recommend the Women's Pavilion for your birthing needs. They have some wonderful people working there! I am highly satisfied with my experience and if My husband and I have another baby it will be there! I would not go anywhere else!

John McGlynn

I was asked from a score of 1-10, with 10 being the highest, what would I rate Johnston Memorial Clayton- I would rate the entire staff, including kitchen staff and housekeeping a score of 10+++!!! Thanks, Ron B.

Kevin Kinsey

Been sitting in the waiting room for almost 4 hours while people who have come in after me have come and gone. The explanation is they are taking easier cases first so that they are quicker. I'm with all the other reviewers on here. This place is terrible. I wonder what changed from 4 years ago when it was rated good to today where it rates as one of the worst and slowest hospitals in all of North Carolina???

Wayne Dunn

I got the greatest care here. Everyone here was very professional, very kind and just the nicest people I’ve ever met

WORST PLACE EVER. We’ve been here 3 different times. One for our grandmother who was told she was fine. We took her to wake med to find out she has broken bones and wasn’t getting enough oxygen. But you know Johnston health sent her home saying she was fine. But wake med had to put her in the ICU for several days. 2 my 8year old sister was in a wreck with a swollen face and complaining of stomach pain. They touched her face 3 times then sent her home after 15 minutes. But once again we send her to wake med and they ACTUALLY DO THIER JOB TO FIND OUT IF SHES OK. And third my screaming 11 year old cousin was told he was fine when brought there. We take him to wake med to find out he has HSP. And was hospitalized for over a week. If you want to live and find out what is really wrong without take a trip to wake med. they will actually do thier job

I recently had my baby delivered at this hospital and I can honestly say it was the best patient experience I've ever had. Everyone from the food service and housekeeping staff to the anesthesiologist were so polite and professional. The nurses are absolutely fantastic. I am highly satisfied with my decision to deliver here and will do so again if we have another baby in the future.

Tom Fiser

Scary is all I can say . . . my family member is in the hospital now going on 8 days . . . he went down so fast after being admitted . . come to find out, he was being given the wrong kind of meds . . . he is still there and slipping fast. We are strongly considering transferring him to Duke.

Toy Douglas

One of the ER physicians over prescribed my 4 year old some antibiotics. It was a dose strong enough for a teenager. That made my baby vomit right after she took it.

Jeffrey Faccone

If you are having any sort of emergency that is potentially life threatening, do not go here.

Robert Venito

My name is bobby venito. Friday night I had a pain that was the worst pain I had ever felt in my life.screaming in pain praying to sweet Jesus to make it stop .I decided to go to Johnston / unc I was so impressedhow the triage nurse working imediatly took .me in and how fast they were on .me with an IV to administer pain .medication they were on top of there game. although very busy .I feel like I chose the best place to go.diagnoses kidney stone small but painfull. A great big thanks to Dr ho and his great staff that worked this Friday night 8/9/18 hope not to .back but if pain comes back I know where I'm going

My outpatient surgery experience at Johnston Health Clayton was great. The staff and facility are top of the line. The outpatient surgery rooms are private and larger than I expected.

Tricia Combs

I just delivered here last week. The staff here is amazing and so patient! They took such great care of me and my newborn. I would highly recommend this hospital to anyone looking for a great labor and delivery hospital. It is definitely worth the drive as I came from Goldsboro.

The only reason why this business has a one star from me is because selecting 0 wasn’t an option review them. I want anyone in the clayton or Johnston county area to be aware that this ER should be reported and shut down. I feel really bad for UNC as a health system because this facility affiliation is really bringing them down. My daughter has been suffering from Chronic Intractable Migraines for years. When my daughter gets them sometimes one migraine may last for a month at a time. She is under regular neurology care, however this past Labor Day weekend they got unbearable. Normally if my daughter has to go to ER for a migraine they give a migraine “cocktail “ containing Torodol and some other meds. This facility decided to administer “Haldol” to her which is prescribed for schizophrenia patients, an antipsychotic med. She was sent home that day. The next day she woke up with blurry vision, and start having a dystonic reaction which mimics a seizure or stroke. So we decided to take her back. I had to plead to ask the nursing to triage her and do vitals, had I not she would’ve had to wait in line like the rest of “non life threatening “ patients. They gave her a dose of Benadryl and sent her on her way. They were extremely confused, unfamiliar with what was going on. Even one of the nurses stated she had never seen a condition or allergic reaction to the extremity of my daughter’s. If you’ve seen the exorcist movie that’s how her body was twist up almost, swollen tongue protruding, HORRIFIC!! We left and drive a mile down to the pharmacy for more Benadryl after being discharge and it started coming back, we turned around and drove her back. We were told “nothings wrong” “she’s not dying” “ the doctor already has seen her” “she has to wait like the others” . Mouth and neck twisted, heart rate between 120-135 in the waiting room. There was like 30 people ahead of us. Wow really. We were furious and decided to leave because we didn’t know if she would stroke out in the waiting room. To make a long story short we drove her 25 miles to Wake Med New Bern. From the remarkable compassionate greeting at the ER door, their receptionist could see this girl needed serious help before he got her name he rushed her to triage to be seen. later that night after several more episodes of the uncontrollable dystonic reaction (allergic reaction) and chronic sinus tachycardia, my daughter was admitted and has been there for still for the past 3 days. Soooooooo wow you refused to immediately look into my daughter’s condition a medication you admistered and another hospital admitted her immediately. I smell a lawsuit or litigation coming your way!!!!! I will say it’s really bad when you live in a nice community and the community hospital you don’t ever ever want to go to. I will say this if I felt I was dying, I would risk getting in my car if I could and driving several miles to get to another hospital, their care stinks! It’s not sincere, horrible bedside manner, and their incompetent of treatment. Every medical professional needs their licenses revoked and burned. My daughter suffered and they intensified her pain.

Unprofessional , denied care of refill meds Bc I changed my appt , due to another doctors appt! Dr. Nguyen is not a good doctor!!!its a constant struggle to get the meds you need, and have taken for years, she makes it difficult to build trusting relationship, Bc she treats you like you're doing something wrong! I've tried for 2 yrs to make it work! No on should have to be treated the way she does, over basic medicines you are on! However Dr.bowling in the practice has always treated me fairly and professionally, when I tried to change to him as my provider they would not allow it! It's ridiculous what all I've been thru, at the hands of a doctor!! I'm 50 yrs old and I've seen many doctors in my life, she is the worst ever!! Sorry but I'm tired of being nice!!

PLEASE DO NOT HAVE YOUR BABY HERE!!! My husband and I had a horrible experience dealing with the maternity ward. The nurses were very unprofessional, and VERY VERY UNSANITARY!! The rooms were barely cleaned as well...If you want a good experience having a baby, please do not go here.

Kelly Kravitz

Very fast service...friendly healthcare workers, too

Joy Edwards

I had outpatient surgery here for a lymph node biopsy. I had Dr. Collins, who has an office here too as well as in Smithfield. I received great care from the nurses who were assigned to Dr. Collins upon their request. I feel that the care team has everything to do with it. I could tell that there was a shortage of staff though. When I was looking for help a few times for minor things, no one was around, but when my turn came, I got the best of care.

Toya Brown

I must say I was skeptical about going to this ER due to the bad reviews. I had no choice. My situation was urgent. The care I received was top notch. My nurses were EXCELLENT!!!!! My Doctor was also fantastic. They were all very caring. Most of all, they fixed me and I am grateful.

Selma Parent

Outrageous prices for a basic ER visit. They charged me over $3300 for a basic ER visit where all they did was basic blood work and a urinalysis.

We had a great experience at this hospital. All of the staff was very attentive, caring and knowledgeable - including the janitorial and caffeteria staff. My husband went in with stomach pains and they quickly did some tests and found he needed to have his appendix removed. They scheduled him for surgery shortly after, operated and we were able to go home that night. I’m not sure why this hospital has bad reviews but we truly had a great experience and appreciate all that the staff did for us.

Heather Weaver

Worst experience ever. Waited over 3 hours to see physician for post surgery pain. She came in and did a 5 minute exam, dismissed my symptoms, and told me she doesn't treat chronic pain and treated me like I was a drug seeker. Trust me, if it hadn't been the weekend and the middle of the night, I would have gone elsewhere! I will never see Dr. Hamilton again. She is rude and has terrible bed side manner.
