I had meniscus surgery there yesterday and the staff at the hospital were very kind and accommodating. It's a smaller hospital with charm and a feel of home. I couldn't have asked for better treatment. My doctor was running behind but it all worked out and the hospital staff made my wait easier. I highly recommend Dosher Memorial Hospital.

It was a pleasant experience instead of a scary one to the ER. I had a high fever and other underlying health issues. All the nurses, techs & my doctor were amazing, funny & set me at ease. They ran all the correct test without going overboard. And I was able to go home knowing what I needed to do If my fever returned. Thanks for all your help & compassion !

The ER Dr. mis diagnosed my son. Cost him a lot of time, money and possible Kidney failure according to his specialist. Dont go there.

I had a procedure there and they charged my insurance company 3500. The next year when I paid out of pocket for the same procedure it was 9000 reduced to 7000 when I complained. When talking to them about the difference they could not explain it, nor would they reason. It's like getting the oil changed on your car and being charged 3000 if you don't ask the price up front.

Just excellent! I have only used the ER and the Urgent Care. Thankfully never had to be admitted. My wait time has never been horribly long, I have always had excellent care! Well, my last visit wasn't as friendly as others but I still was seen quickly and taken care of. Maybe they were busy. Point is, this ER is Excellent!

I have been there for emergency and other things, The wait time can be long sometimes. If you go in with a Tuna Fish hook in your finger they take you straight in. Thank you for removing that hook in my hand OMG. They did a good job No wait time at all LOL Now I have been in the waiting room for non emergency and it took a little to much time I thought. Hay just drive a hook in your hand, Or just pass out in front of them,Real quick service then . Just sayin

My wife had an MRI. After Medicare paid$1,199.89 and her medicare supplement paid $755.59, this hospital still tried to bill her for $1822.49. This charge comes under the Medicare fraud statues and is illegal. But, it is the third time that Dosher has tried this. Wuld not use their facilities unless you are interested in being over charged. BTW, both of us are retired health care employees, so we are familiar with Medicare regulations, and hospital billing.

Just take the time to drive to Novant or new Hanover . I went there for a kidney stone , after a Ct scan they told me to go home and take pain pills and wait until my urologist appointment. They told me the stone wasn't blocking my kidney and it is after a trip to New Hanover ,they took care of me .

This is one sorry behind hospital. We've been waiting for 5 hours here to see a doctor. My mother fell in the house and they gave her oxys when she complained 2 hours later the meds weren't doing anything, the Dr. said they would get her something else well it's been another 2 hours. I've seen paitents come and go while an elderly woman was ignored. They need more and better staff.

I went to the Urgent Care with my 10.5 month old daughter. I was told that her ear was "unfriendly," but was never told anything else about it. Her throat was red, but was told that if she had strep that the antibiotic would help that. As I'm leaving I don't get any papers telling the diagnosis or treatment. I got no paperwork at all. When I went to pick her medicine up it was CAPSULES! What infant do you know that can take capsules? I don't know about the rest of the hospital, but the Urgent Care was TERRIBLE! I wouldn't recommend that place to someone that's 10 feet under!!!

I received excellent treatment from Dr. Alex Newsom. Dr. Newsom has provided me with outstanding care on many occasions. Specifically, he provided wonderful treatment when I was dealing with significant GI issues. Dr. Newsom has my highest reccommenation. Dosher Memorial has gained an excellent physician.

UPDATE: the reason I wasn't contactef in three weeks was because they gave my info to the doctor and according to them he declined to have me as a patient. Apparently anemia is too hard! I have no other health issues! My husband had to call to get that much information out of them! I think there is a word for this it actually feels like discrimination! So if you only get a physical once per year and have no health problems you can be a patient otherwise your in trouble! Whatever you do, don't get sick! They might fire you from the practice! I have been trying for three weeks to make an appointment for severe anemia & heart issues. I am sure the doctor is great, but his office staff is unbelievable inept, lazy and very unwilling to help. So far my three week experience of trying to get paperwork and appointment (I filled it out immediately and gave it right back) and two weeks in still not in the system and still no appointment. This has been nothing short of a nightmare! I can't imagine becoming a patient if this is how they treat people!

This is a wonderful, down to earth, hospital. Everyone is so caring and understanding. But then again, Southport is a wonderful, caring, little seaside town. I had extreme pain at 4 a.m. one morning and went to the ER. Was seen immediately, given morphine

I believe the way management treats its employees is indicative of how they run a business...the integrity of the leadership in this hospital should be questioned. I certainly wouldn't go here for ANY of my health needs. The leadership in this hospital is composed of a small click of people who aren't making the best decisions for this hospital. The board of directors should look a little more closely at what's happening here. Let's vote against the tax we pay to support this poorly run institution (4¢ per $100 property valuation) or dump the current management. Southport deserves better.

SO THANKFUL FOR THE TEAM AT DOSHER WOUND CARE! I can’t say enough positive things about the wound care center at Dosher. After speaking with several different wound care facilities, Jackie Smith went above and beyond to help me be seen when I needed care. During my first appointment, they scheduled plenty of time to discuss my history and make sure I received proper care. I never once felt rushed. John Stone has also gone above and beyond each appointment I’ve had and helped me order all the supplies I need. Dr. Hilaman has been wonderful each time, patiently answering all of my questions. I’m so thankful to have found people that are knowledgeable on wound care but that also treat me so kindly and patiently. Thank you, Dosher wound care!!

Spent thanksgiving at Dosher instead of the intended beach trip. Everyone I dealt with was kind and treated me with respect. My nurse from emergency even came to visit me after my surgery. Having appendicitis five hours from home is very scary, but I always felt very safe and cared for at DMH.

I took my sister in at 11pm and at 2am no dr in sight. They did blood and urinal exams and only gave her Tylenol and saline for her ovary pain. Later a dose of morphine that didn't help at all and it was an hour after the blood work before they did anything. Don't recommend for regular outpatient emergency. Because if you have a broken leg you are more likely to get taken care of faster

I went in for a cyst on my ovary's that was full of blood and severe pain and bloated stomach never once did I get asked for medication I took on a daily basis I got treated like a drug attic and didn't receive any kind of treatment got sent home I should've been Given a anti-inflammatory and a pain medicine I was on I told them it was not helping me I was in tears and hunched over from the pain understand that there's a lot of drug attic's in Brunswick County but I am far from one I got completely miss treated never again will I go to this hospital nor would I ever take even my dog completely pathetic
