Dr. Groban and nurse Sara took excellent care of me during a difficult time. I showed up in extreme stomach pain, they listened to my long story, ordered a ct scan right away and pain medicine. He diagnosed my issue and ordered meds to help heal my stomach. I'm grateful that Sparta has such a nice ER and a caring staff!

ER staff will call the police to have you arrested if you ask for help dealing with policy issues. Brought my husband here, with our three children, while on vacation when he got very sick. They have a policy of not allowing more than 1 person in the ER rooms, which was fine. I asked the nurse at the front desk what I should do and she said she didn't know, but that I couldn't stay with my husband. Eventually, a janitor pointed out that there was a waiting room down the hall. I asked for a customer service email or phone number, because I thought the nurse was rude for not mentioning the waiting room. She made a joke about not being responsible for customer illiteracy then called the police to have me arrested. Horrible, evil people who represent the very worst of civilisation, and provide medical care that is on par with the customer service. If you're a patient, visit only if you want to be left to be left to die while your loved ones are imprisoned for daring to suggest that the nurses should pretend to be human.

Really disappointed with the care i recieved at this facility. I was having chest pains, heart palputations and my left arm was not SORE it was on a scale of 1-10 a 9.5 in pain and my fingers were tingling and going numb.. It felt so off and streched up my face.. They told me to take Ibprofun for it and it was just a symptom of my sickness. Walking from the triage area to my room i told them i felt extremely dizzy and i stumbled up against a wall.. They did not offer me any support or a wheel chair.. I told them i felt extremely dehydrated and they didnt even offer me water or fluids my urine was dark orange. Then i had an allergic reaction to the medicine they gave me and i called to tell them.. They didnt tell me to come in or offer me any other medicine to relieve my symptoms. It is kind of hard to believe they didnt have an alalterniti for people who are allergic. I will not be returning to this hospital.

I gave a one star rateing only because its the only way u can give a review this is the sorryest hospital ive ever been in the staff are rude and incompitent the care nothing about patients well being i have taken a eldely lady there 3 time in as many weeks and every time they send her home and she still has it they cant even cure a simple urinary tract infection

I have never been more disappointed in the care that my mother received at this facility. She was admitted with the assumption that she had the pneumonia by the ER doctor on a Saturday night. On Sunday I and another family member sat with her for over 8 hours. During this time not once did they take her blood pressure or temperature. She was extremely lethargic, did not drink, talk,and only went to the rest room one time, but was removed from fluids. The Dr for the day was very lackadaisical as was the nursing staff to the point that even when steroids was ordered it was to be given 12 hours after ordered.. Which could have caused futher detriment to her health. Needless to say Monday morning we demanded she be transferred to a different more efficient facility. We definitely will not use this facility again unless under duress.

Terrible experience with ER staff. Treated me like a drug addict. Anyone receiving care at AMH should request a copy of your record. Mine was full of errors. I am writing a letter of complaint, but next time, I’ll travel to Elkin for emergency care if possible.

Though we only have one hospital in Alleghany county, we are lucky to have friendly, local staff to take care of us.

On the day we closed on our house here in Alleghany County I also had to go to the ER. Staff was very friendly and caring. O was admitted for Fluids, Meds and Observation. They only have 6 Beds for inpatient care. They could improve on timeliness. It really should not take 1 hr to get something to drink or eat. Other than that, I had No Complaints.

Alleghany is ALWAYS good to me. Dr. Grogen was amazing. I was fighting sickness for 6 months and because of him (after 3 ERs and multiple drs visits) I found out I have Lymes Disease among other things. The front desk ladies aren't always the nicest but the drs and nurses are AMAZING.

Very unprofessional. After seeing my husband and diagnosing him with bronchitis they wrote him a prescription for medication he needed a machine to use. With out asking if we had the machine in question. He just assumed we had one without asking. When I called back to ask if they could write him a prescription for the machine the woman I spoke to blamed my husband for not saying he did not have one (he was not told he needed the machine until he filled the script. He was under the impression it was for an inhaler not a breathing machine). They refused to give him a prescription for the machine and are making him wait until a family doctor is available in a week when he needs to return to work on monday.

I was visiting Sparta from out of town. Had a small issue with my eye, and knew of no other place to turn but this ER. I was promptly admitted, and after the normal paper work and processing work, was seen by a doctor relatively quickly. Everyone that I spoke to was attentive and kind. I was treated and sent on my way. The whole process took just over an hour from walking in, to walking out.

I'd really like to give them 0 stars never had a good experience with this place my 2 year old went there Saturday while we were visiting the looked down his throats and in his ears said he had strep throat no test or anything gave him an antibiotic which was not the proper antibiotic and sent him home I returned home to concord nc yesterday and was in the er down here from 6pm-1am he had the flu a fever of 103.6 and miserable had to have an iv and multiple tests done. Another situation my sister went up there they told her she had a kidney infection and she was pregnant

Came in with nonstop chest spasms. Informed them I had Lyme disease. They were knowledgeable and did extensive tests to rule out heart issues and other organ issues from Lyme. They listened and took time to explain blood results. Dr. Calhoun and all the nurses, radiology and lab techs were very caring and supportive. My gallbladder may be malfunctioning so further testing recommended.

The worst hospital I have ever been in. The doctors don't know what they are doing. They often times will be lazy and refuse to do proper treatments and just send you home. I feel like it is a money machine for them. Even the doctors outside of this area complain about AMH and how incompetent they are.
