I was very disheartened by my recent experience in the emergency room. Up until 11:00pm my experience would have been great. The tides turned with the shift change. They must save the rudest and most inept for the graveyard shift. It felt like I had been moved to a different hospital. The nurse left me with no information about my condition for hours. Other patients were complaining about pain and how poorly they were being treated. One person had to be restrained. I heard the nurses rude comnents about other patients when they were clearly put out by very reasonable requests. I wonder what other patients heard about me? My nurse had poor communication skills and appeared not to care at all about making me comfortable. They ran several time consuming tests. After waiting hours for the test results, I received a three minute explanation about test results and treatment of my condition, before being shoved out. Never saw the doctor again. They rushed me out with little or no understanding of my condition and a prescription for antibiotics. I had other positive experiences at this hospital and was shocked by my recent ER visit. I will find any means to get another hospital in the future. Sad that this hospital is not the fine institution it once was.

Always professional, clinicians make you feel welcome and like they are caring for one of their family members. They truly put their patients first. Had both of my children there, have my primary care and several other specialty MDs there as well.

I went there for ANS testing in December 2017 came back on1/24/18 for results. The diagnosis was postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. Only a few hospitals in Boston test for this. I live two hours away. I met with the fellow and she went over my history and my testing. It was positive for pots. She went to talk to the dr he came back standing with one foot in the door and one out and asked if I was ok with the protocol. After three months I felt it wasn’t working and left a message for the dr to call me. The fellow called back and said to stay on the med and we’ll make you an appointment in the clinic. Three weeks went by the secretary ask her about it and she didn’t remember talking to me at all. So I asked if she could call me and she never did. I was not happy with the lack of are so I sent an email complaining to the dr about the fellow and the lack of care the incident and no call backs. Also that every I call the secretary is very rude. I would like to speak with him ASAP. Well if you send a message directly to your dr dont think he is gonna to read it. The secretary called me. She reads all his emails. I told her that is a violation of my privacy. She said he is too busy so she helps with his work. Again I said no that is private through the patient portal and I will report this to patient relations. Will never ever go back there.

Very friendly surgeons and faculty. Loved the residents as well!

I just wanted to comment on emergency rooms in general. I delivered my daughter at BI and have always remembered the professionalism and kindness of the staff. My son did a coop as a security guard at Deaconess Hospital in Boston. He had the task of handling drug addicts, homeless and people who needed assistance. That job was demanding and exhausting and he had various medical staff every shift. The mission is provide a high level of medical care. I resist calling such a area "a joke". It is offensive and flies in the face of health care. A small amount of human compassion goes a long way.

My dad was in the hospital for 2 1/2 week I live in North Carolina and I usually come home when he goes in the hospital. This time I didnt come because of my husband medical situation. My brother and sister were at the hospital everyday And had to keep getting on the nurses about washing my dad and getting him out the bed. It was a real struggle. The nurses even told them they will do it when they get ready. I know they are right because when he was there before, i was at the hospital every morning and i had to keep getting on them. Now he was transported to rehabilitation center and they call me to tell me dad has bed sores. It is so very sad that they didnt do their job. That family have to stay at the hospital to make sure they do their job. Something needs to be done about the treatment the patient are getting at this hospital. I will fly in next time he is there. This very stressful on the family something got to be done.

The best hospital in Boston. Dr. Gomez-Carrion is the very best ob/gyn doctor. The doctors and nurses are amazing.

While I have no complaints in regards to the care I received at Beth Israel, their billing and financial assistance policies are a different story. I had a balance pile up due to a number of health issues. I called to set up a payment plan, but was told the minimum they would allow is $100/month. I cannot afford that so they passed me along to financial hesitance who informed me that unless I'm on MassHealth, there is nothing they can do for me. I'm moving out of state so that's not even possible. I was told even if I make payments, they could send my bills to collections since I wasn't on the official plan minimum. They provide absolutely no financial help or counseling if you are not already on MassHealth which I found extremely disappointing after the hours and money I've spent at their hospital.

I am not usually one to take the time to post reviews but this place is HORRIBLE. The front desk person Linda is the most useless person on this planet. She is the definition of incompetent. my doctor is a great guy, but a normal "checkup" takes an hour then they send you to get labs next door and the line is out of control. No thanks!

Becky Martin

I was admitted to this hospital and from the minute got there..I felt unsafe the Nurses and Doctors are not real Nurses or Doctors there on the job training. when I am being seen at a hospital for a emergency. I don’t want a student who has no clue what he or she is doing. I ended up leaving this hospital and admitted my self to into another hospital the nurses and doctors have no knowledge of what they are doing I needed to transfer to another hospital to be seen this place should be shut down serious I have been seen as a in patients at hospitals before this place is dangerous and the staff is a JOKE

Very helpful staff at Shapiro Building in the neurology center. Excellent interview by DR. Ludy Shih, neurologist. She is very gentle, caring and informative about Deep Brain Stimulation for familial tremors. The assistant at DR. Alterman's office has been so patient and helpful. Thank you Sandra. If you are kind and respectful and ask questions, most people will respond in kind. The MRI staff was very kind and helpful. My phone call was returned promptly by Bill, a supervisor. The music I asked for was ready for my MRI. My 25 year old granddaughter was allowed in the room and I could see her from inside the closed tube by mirrors. She held up fingers for how many minutes were left in each test. Mike the technician asked how he could make it easy and comfortable for me. Mike made my experience less stressful and go quickly. Thank you Mike.

I have been a patient of Healthcare Associates for 3 years and am pleased with my Primary Care physician. I will emphasize, my physician is excellent when I see her. The problem is I can never see my primary care when I have a medical need. It seems I can only see my PC for well visits. Today I called with a medical issue at 8:35 AM and as of 12:34 PM today, I have yet to receive a call back. My request was for a order for a lab test to confirm an infection. I finally called back to ask if I could please get a response and was told the nurses are in a mandatory meeting and cannot be disturbed. I find it troubling that patients in need of assistance are not the primary concern. I was told that my doctor was not in the office today, but just learned that she is. I have now been told that she will call me after she sees two more patients and reviews my record, at least another hour while my infection festers. I a wonder why we need a PC if they are available only for well visits. Healthcare Associates needs to address this problem. The administration is the problem.

My ob dr. Atkins was extremely nice. I highly recommend her. However in labor and delivery I was subjected to assault. I gave birth to my son. But before that all happened; my ob asked me to sign consent papers to let student attend and deliver my baby. I didn't sign the form and i refused to let a male student touch me or attend my childs birth. Moving on, the doctor asked me if i wanted a student in the room. I said "no" twice. Then she threatened that if i didn't let him attend that she will not deliver my baby. I still said no. An asian doctor comes in to deliver my son and the same doctor who asked if i wanted a male student to attend enters my room with the male student while my legs are wide open and my vagina is exposed. I was also a victim of sexual abuse so to see him was scary. She puts him close to me then tells him to grab one of my legs while i was pushing. I was so scared i began to shake and a nurse put an oxygen mask on my face. She didn't even have the audacity to look at me in the face. Mind you, i told her "no" twice. While i was pushing doctor kept coming in and out of my room laughing and joking loudly and having a good old time. (unprofessional btw). I asked them all to leave or be quiet and they chose to be quiet. Then when my son was finally born. The male student then proceded to examine my vagina while the asian doctor was telling him how to Stitch. This is illegal. This was assult. Women do yourself a favor and stand up to the doctors when they go against your wishes when it comes to your care and your right to not have a student in the room. I trusted that she wouldn't do this. But it happened. She did everything for her own benifit. And didn't even come back in the room to check on me or congradulate me. She knows she was wrong.

I first came to BI by the way of the emergency room. There was one nurse who was cranky in the ER but everyone else was great. This is a teaching hospital, you will most likely see an intern at one point.

No issues with the surgery, but the wedding ring was removed during the surgery and not returned to the patient or his wife. Now we going through endless phone calls trying to locate the ring while we are told that ring was given back!

Alysha Cummings

My mom ended up here after not feeling well at a festival at Fenway. We told them from the start we had to catch a train to make our hour commute home. 3 hours later, we missed our train and the nurse on was super rude to us.

Great service very friendly thanks for all staff

This hospital I can actually say is the worst hospital I ever been to. The first incident was when i had my first child my wife wanted to have the baby regularly, we went to every appointment checking the size of the baby when her water broke we went in on a Friday it turned out to be a 48hr labor because the baby was bigger than they thought so we didn't get out the hospital till next Thursday because the smartest doctor there came in after 38 hours and said she suffered enough. Second incident is a situation I'm going through now my sister has diabetes she has had incidents here and there but nothing major numbers too high or too low the usual but this time we went it they over medicated her now she is having shaking episodes in her sleep where she takes a while to come out of this violent shaking and we took her off that drug now the shaking stopped but now she has a speech impediment and other issues it seems like they were trying other ways to see what the outcome would be I suggest you go somewhere else. There should be actions taking if a doctor destroys lives I understand we all take risk but I suggest put your faith in another hospital because this one is not dependable

Oncology Unit - 11th floor - simply amazing people. I do not have the vocabulary to describe these wonderful people properly.

Today I had a bad experience at Rosenberg building beth Israel. I have a bad headache I went to urgency care in Chelsea but they sent me to emergency but I choose to go to beth Israel emergency room because I thought beth Israel is good no racist and willing to take care if patient. I am wrong. I checked in at 12:30pm until 4pm they never called me. They called people who cane after me. I don't know what does that mean. Even it is a headache they don't know how I feel t. They thought is a minor case if I left my house and go to the emergency for headache it is something serious

I have been with BI for many many years. and today it was a very bad experience. I'm a cancer survivor for 10 years , I had an app at 9:50am. I left my house an hour and 15 minutes early to make it on time. Things happen. The ted william tunnel was back up 15 minutes delay . I was in chock. by the time i got to exit 18 traffic was bad but it was moving. I was 5 minutes away from BI and all of the sudden the streets where getting fix 2 lanes merge into one and stupid people confuse. I was very anxious. I came so far to not have my app. I finally made it 20 minutes late. I thought they will not see me. I gave my name and the time of my app. she stay quiet . i spell my name i case she didn't hear me. She said i heard you !!!! she pick up the phone and she said 9:50 just arrived. then she said ok. I asked her if i was going to be seen she said yes. she asked me a few question and said meet me at the end of the counter. She asked my dob put my wrist bad, and that's it. I felt bad. I work in the health system and i do understand what means to be late. I apologyze to the tech. I was waiting to be call . a woman came and call what i thought it was my name. I approach her and she look at me like i was coming from mars. She said not You!!!! with a disgusting face. the person that she was calling didn't know it was her cause she was calling her by the wrong name. What happend to customer care. sympathy. i was very disapointed.

The emergency room here is VERY poor. This is my first time ever writing a bad review. Someone close to me was admitting for wanting to commit suicide and the nurses left him in the ER on a cot for 2 days straight (he's still there) and we are still waiting for him to be moved to the psychiatric department like he was promised much earlier. People with similar conditions who got there later have been moved in and out but he remains because he's been kind and not complained like others have. A worker literally pulled out their computer on the job to "watch the game" and nurses are constantly seen talking about their personal lives and off task. A man who got in a fight and had broken his nose had to be restrained, and they held him by his broken nose to restrain him, something that was very unprofessional in my opinion. They have left this person close to me in a very poor environment for someone who needs peace and quiet. The visit has just begun and has been horrible, with lazy and incompetent staff who tried to release him the day after he wanted to commit suicide with no follow-up review on his mental state or health. They quite literally came in the room after his 24 hour hold asked how he was doing, he said right now I don't want to kill myself anymore, and they said great and tried to release him until I pushed for an inpatient treatment to determine the issue as he has been self-harming and his health has worsened considerably. Chose one of the MANY other hospitals in the area. I'm sure they won't be able to disappoint as much as this one has already.

I am embarassed that Mom sitting for 4 hours without being seen by a Doctor for a r/oMI. Wall to wall people literally in ER. I am sad for other people and no family allowed to be with Mom. Disappointment. Not the standard of care was hopeful for.

Jane Anderson

Not even worth 1 star the way the treat and rush out the elderly. Just found out my elderly aunt was put into a filthy private room for ebola patients. Ridiculous and they rushed her out to rehab where she fell and had to be brought back, then they took an MRI (didn't before) and found the abscess in her spine, which she has been in horrible pain for 2 months now. Go to this hospital if you want to be treated like cattle or to die because they obviously don't put patient care and wellness and dignity first.

Sam Poon

Surely first class OB & Neonatal departments! Very caring providers and extremely professional trainees. We had the best care we felt throughout a trying experience.

This is the worst hostipal i've been to. I came here with my dad because he was having extreme pain in his gallbladder area. Till this day i wish i never went, they didn't care one bit. He was sreaming and yelling "help Me please". They paid him no mind, 2 hours later someone took him to the back, gave him pain killers and ran some test and said he had stones in his gallbladder they gave him meds and discharged him. The next day my day had the same pain this time i decide to bring him to boston medical he didn't last 60 seconds in pain at boston medical. They took him to the back got rid of his pain, said he needed surgery to remove his gallbladder. A few hours later his surgery was a sucess. My dad is no longer in pain but to beth israel you guys should be a shame of your selfs and just decide to shut down. also know we will never be back. "Worst Hostipal Ever".

Those nurses in emergency room are terrible! If you have mental health emergency, don’t go there, they don’t care about your feelings! They need to learn how to treat people with respect and patience!

Franck Dernoncourt

Here are some of the many issues I've had with BIDMC: 1) I was scheduled to have an MRI with a 3T machine. The operator was aware of that but put me on a 1.5T without asking me. 2) BIDMC sent a bill of mine to a recollection agency without even trying to contact me before. 3) It's impossible to contact a physician after seeing them, unless you make another appointment. In my case, I wanted them to simply change a prescription for some medical imaging, and they never replied to my query. As a result, I wasn't able to get the medical imaging I needed. I've had a few other issues with BIDMC but I'll keep it short.

Maria Barrientos

No complaints I have always been treated in a timely manner and very courteous.

Everybody has been pleasant and super helpful---with the exception of the parking people, who try to be helpful but who seem not to have much English.

WRITING THIS TOWARDS THE ENDOCRINOLOGY DEPARTMENT If I could give this place no stars I would. You see, we’ve been attending this place for over a year now. Dr.hennesy and his assistant are HORRIBLE. My husband has a thyroid issue, that’s very apparent in my eyes and in his PCMs eyes. I had been doing a lot of research on the thyroid and had been talking with my friend who has unfortunaltey suffered from thyroid cancer and she had helped me understand a lot of the thyroid functions and how the thyroid actually works. I figured I had a good source of information, I also brought a book with me into the office highlighting the concerns I had and the biggest concern in the assistants eyes (the assistant to dr.hennesy) was that he “may not have a thyroid condition” even though his hcg levels were high? LOL and that’s where I got upset. After we talked and he very unhelpfully answered all of my questions, he goes and talked to the doctor. The doctor comes in and acts all nice and says “oh well if the levothyroxine isn’t helping then you don’t have a thyroid condition” okay, FIRST OF ALL YOUVE ALREADY DIAGNOSED HIM WITH HASHIMOTOS AND THEN YOU ARE TELLING US THAT IT IS BECAUSE HE DOESNT HAVE A THYROID ISSUE? Excuse me?!?! Then he continues to say that we shouldn’t be “looking things up on the internet” even though I got all of my research from a friend who has been through hell and back with her thyroid cancer and then he continued to act like there was no issue and only did a simple thyroid panel and didn’t even check his vitamin d levels but said on the way out the door “try some vitamin d3 that may help your cause”..... so after a few days we get a call back and the doctor said that actually his levels are way high and they gave us the wrong prescription of medicine FOR OVER A YEAR... I am NEVER RETURNING!! Save your money, save your time, just because these doctors had studied at Harvard doesn’t mean they know jack s**t!!!!! HORRIBLE DOCTORS

Linnea Turner

My brother is there and they are literally restraining him

Tyler Day

I thank Beth Israel Hospital for great life-saving services during 2012! These people are friendly!

Maria Best

If I could give this place a ZERO I definitely would. I went there for a herniated disk, literally could not walk, left me for hours on a cot in front of a person who was clearly having psych issues, then eventually medicated me with the usual narcotics, and sent me home at 1am, without an exam and paperwork that did not tell the truth.

Melissa Haletky

Ended up in Milton. got a lumbar puncture by a doctor whoes name is not recognixed. was falsely diagnosed with meningitis. At the Boston location I was misdiagnosed with a developmental disability. I would give this hospital a 0. but I guess I can't. Drs are evil.

Nicole Melzar

Best staff and best hospital.

Kristi Cordeiro

Dr. Lozano and his team along with nurse Colleen (12th floor) are awesome! My family and I can't say enough good things about them. Colleen is by far the best nurse my dad has had during his hospital stay(s). Colleen is always in the room checking up on him. When you ask her a question she finds out pronto, when you ask her for something she gets it right away. No waiting, no ok I'll be right back then you're forgotten about. NONE OF THAT! All nurse's need to be trained by Colleen!

This place is very very slow. First I had an appointment for next week and when I showed up in time for my appointment the physician Bidwell Harvey, was not ready to see me and the nurse she said he is behind and I have two other patients before me and I should wait for him. He's such a slow physician. I wonder how he made it through medical school? When I call their phone the operator tells me that a nurse will call me back and more than an hour I do not get a call back. I am still waiting as I am writing this comment. So I would not recommend this place to anyone. STAY AWAY!

Recently sustained an injury and broke my back. I was sent to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. The entire staff and team that took care of me were very friendly and were always there to lend a hand I am grateful for there help and really think this is a wonderful hospital.

This was the first time I have ever heard of shaving a patient's beard because he vomited. Would you shave your head if you got vomit in your hair? I think not. I think you would use soap and water. The disrespect of this situation was such a hard kick in the gut! My dad was unresponsive and prognosis was death. My father had NEVER shaved his beard. I did not recognize the person laying in the bed. It hurt our family to the core. They had two family member contact information and not one of us authorized a shaving! The nurse on staff that shift was disrespectful, mean and inpatient. We continued to remain respectful even though we were clearly upset. All we got was a "Sorry" from the nursing supervisor.

Jeff White

They will assure you they take your insurance. Then they will send you a bill for $700.00. Then send you to collections when you don't pay. Also they don't follow up with any results with you. Paid $700 for no information...also the doctor was using google in the exam room.

claudio daveiga

You shouldn’t have to be bleeding over 2.5 L of blood, and still await 3hours or more for service.

While on vacation on Cape Cod from Alabama my husband was brought here to Beth Israel from a hospital on the cape by ambulance. What we thought was just a bad gallbladder ended up being sepsis from infected gallbladder and blocked bile duct. During the procedure to insert drainage tubes in his side, my husband coded and was resuscitated successfully. The staff at this Hospital has been exemplary. We could not have had better treatment anywhere. From the parking valet, to the custodians to the wonderful nurses and pcts to the wonderful doctors. There are too many doctors to name or even remember them all except for the amazing dr. Andrew Ahn! My husband and I are both talkative and inquisitive people. Not one member of the staff made us feel that we were wasting their time or keeping them from other patients. We were allowed to ask as many questions as we wanted and even just chit-chat about inconsequential things. What could have been a tragedy has been turned into a blessing. We thank God for you all.

Well... Neglect is the key word. I had a stroke, and they did figure out it was due to poisoning, but they did nothing else. They did not feed me or give me water, except one totally inappropriate box lunch for a stroke victim thrown at me because I was screaming that my blood sugar was crashing at 48 hours into being there. They thought I would choke. I had to sneak water from the sink when they weren't looking. They had an IV in the whole time, and could have given me fluids/glucose but they refused but didn't say why. I was left in me in the emergency room for 24 plus hours, until I went to the to the neurology floor. The neurology floor nurses say they will check with the doctors and get back to you on every question or request, but they never ever did. I usually take 2700mg of gabapentine a day because I have autoimmune problems that can cause excruciating nerve pain. They begrudgingly gave me a total of only 800mg the almost 3 days I was there. In fact, the only gave me one baby aspirin and one shot of heparin to treat the stroke the whole time. They did not do anything for what they were sure was poisoning with organofosphates. They acted confused when I repeatedly asked if they had done any toxin screenings to nail down the poison or to see if it was still in my system - they acted like didn't really know that tox screenings existed, even though they have a toxicology department that saw me in the ER. They guessed organofosphates but I didn't feel compelled to do any tests for some reason. When the floor doctor (with students in tow) finally did show, she spoke to me like a slow child until I started telling every nurse that I was feeling very unsafe. It was then that a wonderful and brave student who had been on rounds snuck back in to me. She felt horrible that they had treated me that way and she told me what they were thinking about my case in the "back room." She was the only person who spoke to me like an adult. She was the only person who spoke to me in complete sentences. God bless her. So they figured out that I had a stroke due to poisoning, nothing else, in almost 3 days being there. I could have done just as well or even a lot better if I just stayed home. I fast tracked myself home, and just before I escaped, the actual doctor assigned to my case showed up. He was fine for the two minutes he could spare with me. So... Pretty much a Mexican prison with occasional doctor visits. Next time I have a medical emergency maybe I will try Brigham and woman's.

I hate hospitals but they made it bearable. A little wait time. But it was not terrible.

Barbara Barnett

Abysmal continuity of care results in frightening errors and omissions. Pleasant and experienced nursing and auxiliary staff, quite decent food. Useless pt. Advocates. Overall, poor medical organization and NONEXISTENT patient centered care planning. Bizarre hospital "attending" scheduling includes some vrry inexperienced physicians.

Roberta Junqueira

I come here to demonstrate my dissatisfaction with the hospital. To start with my first appointment with the doctor, I arrived at the hospital for the first time, and since I did not know the hospital, I went to the reception for help and felt offended by a lady, whom I asked a question she looked into my face and turned back to me without even answering me, but there was another young girl who laughed at the situation but gave me information. I had my appointment with the doctor she asked me to do the ultrasound and make a new appointment after. I went to do the ultrasound, in the middle of the ultrasound the woman who was doing the ultrasound asked me to leave and left the room, and another doctor came laughing and making a joke, and soon after gave me the news that the baby's heart had stopped, talked a little to me and simply told me that there was nothing to do and that it was for me to make an appointment with my obstetrician to decide what to do. I checked the appointment with the doctor and after much conversation we decided to do the curettage procedure that was done the same day in the office. So far so good. About 6 weeks after the procedure I started to bleed much more than normal, I contacted the hospital again to make an emergency appointment with the doctor, they said that I was not able to locate the doctor, and they simply informed me that it was normal and that it could be my menstruation and that it was normal for the first menstruation to come unregulated. It turned out that in the end I went to another hospital that gave me a giant assitence and detected remains of placenta and the fetus in my belly and detected infection in the uterus. In other words, I almost lost my life! Be careful Guys...

Excellent care and top notch staff. The nurses are amazing

I took my mother to do the colonoscopy today, and I told him I couldn't speak English. His face turned black all at once. I'd like to say that if you don't speak English, they don't welcome you to their hospital.

I went to the emergency department because I had just twisted my ankle and was experiencing pain. When I got their I was in the waiting room. Then they took me up to X-Rays and then back to the waiting room then later the doctor called both me and another patient to go with her then when I got into the room I was waiting and the doctor politely have me some medicine and ice for my pain. Then the doctor came in and barely looked at my ankle and she said that there are no broken bones but did not seem concerned that I was in pain as she was examining my ankle. Then they sent a nurse to take my vitals. 2 minutes later a different nurse came in to take my vitals. when I said that they just did that she seemed surprised and wasn't aware that they have checked me already... Then I heard the nurse speaking to another colleague saying are they done with me can she put me somewhere... They wheeled me out of the room and put me in a corner and faced me toward the Computer showing me the patients line up in the ER department then they said I was confused if I was good to go so I asked the nurse and she said you have to wait for the discharge papers then when I finally get discharged I'm trying to wheel myself out the door as everyone is watching me and then the nurse runs behind me and ask me where am I going with the wheelchair as if she wanted me to walk to the cAr with a injured ankle... Bad bed side manner, bad organization of the ER department... And on top of that there are patients laying in beds EVERYWHERE ! Like get it together Beth Israel.

Tristan Prior

My name is Tristan Prior I recently received care on June 15 2018 at around 11:00 pm for an incident with deep cuts to my wrist and palm from shattered glass and bleeding profusely. From the first moments of being there it took for ever to be seen. I arrived in an ambulance at 11:30 and was not seen till about 1:00-1:30 am. Finally being seen I was sat in the hallway across from the main desk in the ER. The first nurse to see me was Christina she seemed nice at first but I’ve been wrong before... Still waiting for treatment another person (I do not know his position) ryan was there to help. he numbed my hand and cleaned it for X-ray and was very friendly. He is the only reason I felt I should stay and receive care instead of leaving and going to another medical center. While waiting for Ryan because he was busy doing all of the other doctors work. I over heard a conversation between Christina and 3 other doctors drinking coffee saying “ I’m so tired” “I’ve been here for so long” then Christina said “ I’ve been here the longest if anyone gets to leave early it will be me”. Since Ryan had not been back in what seemed like hours I asked her if they could stitch me up so I could go home. Christina’s Remark was “you came to the emergency room you are not the only person who needs care. We’re busy...” as 4 doctors are drinking coffee talking about how tired they are and who gets to leave first. I know they are doctors/nurses because at some point throughout the night they had all done something weather cleaning the cut walking to X-ray bring gauze or other materials to me but they sure took their time (besides Ryan). I understood they were tired and they work hard but the amount of disrespect and integrity of the team working that shift did not care about the patients only who gets to clock out first. I was not home till 6am the next day I had been up for 28 hours straight because I was not able to be comfortable in a hallway. All I wanted was to be in my own home in hudson nh I will be writing the same review for the public to see the lack of care and effort to get me home that night of June 15 2018. I hope the staff involved are held accountable for their actions

5 hours and still waiting for an X-ray/cat scan. Employees are face timing, socializing, and texting. This place is garbage.

Scott Treggiari

Horrible. A family member's disability relegated them to MasssHeath insurance. The Beth Israel Deaconess HealthCare - Dedham/Westwood Family Medicine does not accept any MassHealth plans so she had to switch PCPs to a different practice, miss her surgery, and go through weeks of tests and pre-surgery procedures all over again before she could schedule the surgery. Apparently they think they're too good to treat massHealth patients.

What's a girl to do when she has no idea what is going on with her body? My PCP and everyone I have seen so far have been very perplexed with my bout of pancreatic so she referred me here where Dr. Freedman a worldwide expert in pancreatic disease and cystic fibrosis would help me understand what's going on. Let me first say this is the first hospital where they actually sent me a mail confirmation with very useful directions of how to get there and what building entrance to use with a photo diagram. Very nice touch. I'm horrible with directions and still needed to ask around. I had an appointment at 3PM on the Friday before Christmas and the day or two before someone also called me to try and get me to switch it to an earlier time. In retrospect I probably should have done that since early morning appointments are always less likely to be severely delayed. You know where I'm headed with this description. I arrived about 10 minutes ahead of schedule to check in and I actually catch a glimpse of the doctor talking to someone else in the waiting room. I have no idea of what her situation was but I had a sinking feeling in my stomach that I would be in purgatory waiting forever again. I saw a comical sign with those screen beans clipart about waiting for over 15 minutes to alert someone, and of course I did. The women in the reception area were apathetic and antsy to get home to enjoy the holidays. Very strange that the woman performing the appointment check in is sitting all the way behind everyone with her computer and back facing away from everyone. About 25 minutes past Dr. Freedman finally comes by and introduces himself and he seems like a very nice guy, extremely knowledgeable too. He really took his time and made sure any and all of my GI related questions were answered. He didn't rush me like several other doctors or NPs have in the past. He shared all of the potential causes and went over my test results with me from the Needham BIDC and the Newton-Wellesley hospital. He reassured me that this was probably a one time instance and what warning signs to note. Overall it was worth the wait for a consultation with him.

My best friend just received treatment here. She suffers with PTSD and after telling her doctor, Ryan Eid, he was VERY trauma informed and cared for her in a wholistic and respectful way.

Waited 10 hours in post op to be transfered up stairs to a bed. Surgery was scheduled 2 months before. Fasted for a day and I was starved.kitchen refused the 2 entree meal I ordered. Said it was policy. Then my meal was smaller then a child's plate. Post op had my normal meds wrong or not given. I corrected them in post op. Only to find my anti anxiety med was the wrong strength again inhaler was not sent up from post op. I had to wait for ward nurse to get new one..It was after midnight before it was corrected.i never got any sleep due to improperly managed pain. Nurses are awesome on ward.

I had Tavr procedure Sept. 5th and was out Sept. 7th. The very best of treatment and care.

Dennis Bebar

So many poor reviews. That has not been my experience. I have been seeing my Primary Care Dr. (Arturo Rolla) for 30 years. He's the best. Also, Dr.'s Hoenig, Raven, Khankin and Avigan. All have been caring and attentive with the expertise that one would expect. All the nurses have been great as well. Is everything BIDMC does perfect? Probably not. I do however consider that my experience with this hospital and it's staff to be a very positive one.

Great hospital in every way

Stephanie Domingue

Had a client there and I can say they are really professional, they make me feel welcome with the team by helping me with the patient any time I needed.

Lizs Gdrive

Donna Seger Kilroy "wrote they basically murdered my father and got away with it" .. they did the same to my mom. Completely incompetent Harvard trained Clinicians.. not a single Dr. could make a blatant diagnosis. My mom was also abused by a nurse , verbally and possibly physically, a complaint was filed a record which disappeared upon legal review. Within 24 hours of that abuse... mom was in a coma.

Lina Nealon

The worst hospital I've ever been seen at. When I was pregnant, the OB forgot to send my blood in for crucial lab tests (by the time I figured it out, it was too late to resend), impossible to schedule appointment with my PCP (13 + months wait list), allergist literally yelled at me when I couldn't remember something (I was holding my 3 week old baby and was suffering from a 104 fever and allergy to antibiotics to treat mastitis), and after transferring hospitals - have had to spend over six hours of phone calls and filling out forms to receive my records. My new doctor and I have sent request four times: still haven't received records.). There are plenty of amazing hospitals in the Boston area - don't go to this one.

As a firefighter right down the street (off Longwood Ave) Ive been going to the BI as a patient and bringing in patients for 40 plus years. Now retired I remember bad experiences but mostly good,. Now I go for bi annual testing and annual CT scan for an aorta aneurysm and choose the BI after being seen ath MGH for a year. I find the CT staff fast, professional and helpful. The doctors are nic, well as courteous as youd expect from a working doc. Compared to almost any other hospital the BI is right up there on top especially compared to southcoast, cape, NH and Berkshire hospitals.

Melissa Birch

Was here for a family member's surgery. Despite being behind schedule, the staff communicated clearly the reasons for delay, next steps and estimated schedule. After surgery, everyone was very accommodating to both the patient and family. The outpatient surgery waiting room is gorgeous too.

David Huggens

My mom Cynthia Huggens begged me to join her here for Tracheal Resection. Bringing her to this place in the end was the wrong choice. 4 years after her surgery here, instead of receiving the restoration she thought she would be blessed with - She was given a Tracheostomy, lost her voice, and died on October 29, 2018 from an aortic fistula discovered by our own private autopsy. The hospitals hid this from us and did nothing. I wish we never discovered You so that she would retain her former decent health. My mom bled into her lungs in front of me in my brother's arms. Going to you in the end was the WRONG CHOICE.

Jeremy Bourque

The Dr's there are the Best in the U.S. After 2 surgeries for the same issue, the Dr's here fixed her. The confidence and experience the team had goes unmatched. The only issue I have with this place is the parking. They have a paid parking garage attached to the building and it's not cheap. You can get validated, if you are a patient, visiting a patient or have an appt, but you need to be there for at least 2 hrs to validate. And they don't offer this info, you need to ask. If you are going there for multiple days make sure you all about the parking pass. A 5 day pass is $35, which parts for itself in 2 days if your staying for the day. And a ten day pass for $70. Again they will not offer either of these, you need to ask. Without these passes you could pay $18 a day (w validation) or $38 a day (without validation). And the parking garage doesn't have much clearance, I'm 6'2" and I feel like I need to duck walking to and from the car. DON'T BRING A TALL TRUCK OR YOU'LL BE PARKING A MILE OR TWO AWAY. I would definitely give them more stars if the parking situation was better.

tatianna

worst hospital I have ever been too. Very unprofessional.

Rose clark Krauss

Jesus , I am looking for a PCP for my son and from these reviews they are so so bad on this hospital and I am getting seriously scared on picking one in this place. Anyone have any ideas on a good Tufts doctor for a guy, because this place is scaring me from all these reviews.

S Nelson

Hi, I had such wonderful sincere care at the BIDMC West Campus. I came through the emergency room for really bad stomach due to my gallbladder being inflame. Right away I had CT ,Ultrasound. I came in on a Saturday night and by Sunday afternoon I had my surgery to remove my gallbladder. The whole surgical team treated me very well and I was well treated. I stay in the hospital for 3 days and the nurses were so wonderful and very professional. My surgeon was Dr.Charles Cook and Dr.Cahlane and the team. They were the most pleasant bunch a surgeon I have met. It made my time in the hospital less stressful.

Jorge Andres Rodriguez

Service in the ER, ICU and Surgery Recovery OUTSTANDING!!!!

Janeese Parker

I came here to the emergency room experiencing some pain, and boy times have changed. I've never been to a hospital where it takes over 5 hours to be seen! Especially if you are in pain amd feel ill! I have no idea why Harvard Vanguard is affiliated with them. They used to be so good, your better off going to Carney Hospital now! Update: what was a 5 hour wait took only 5 minutes to diagnose, which was too quick to be able to tell. I guess I will have to wait to see my primary care doctor and get some actual tests done.

Meghan Dowd

I am from South of Boston and I am used to going to South Shore Hospital for everything. I know am closer to Boston and had to go to the hospital this past Saturday and ended up being there until Tuesday. I started in the ER and was moved to a room afterwards. The ER was good, took a few hours and three people to get an IV in (I was severely dehydrated) but everyone was so nice. The care I received once in a room (Flr 7 Farr Building) was fantastic. The nurses and doctors were great, the bed was as comfortable as it could be, and everyone else I came in contact with was so kind and helpful. I can't thank everyone enough for being there for me when I needed it most with a caring attitude and great knowledge.

Patty Hoban

Great care by the nurses.

Diane Jones

Horrible. My son went in with nose bleed that would not stop. He bled for 3 hours. No one attended him.

Tyler West

I was admitted to BI for Neurological disorder which was never diagnosed and upon discharge got a see ya in 6 months goodbye. The entire time I was there I felt like I was more a display tool for their students and never got any time or diagnosis from a doctor! I am now following up with a different hospital and doctors to get a proper diagnosis and not be put on display for a class of medical students

Pot Kritmethakorn

This is the best hospital. I am a tourist from Thailand who suffered from brain damage. And the hospital here saved my life Especially the doctor Ogilvy and his team They miraculously saved my life. Nowadays, I am recovering almost normal.

jay

I simply called to schedule an appointment. After being transferred to 3 different people i spoke with an operator who asked for my medical ID #. I said to her "Hey sorry I'm not sure what my medical ID # is at the moment but i can give you my"----*CLICK* she hangs up right in my face. Currently looking for a new hospital! This left a really bad taste in my mouth and is extremely unprofessional!

DA149

I had an appointment scheduled for June 14th, 2018 I not too sure of the Dr. name as this was a first time physical appointment. My appointment was at 3:45, I took time off from work, drove 2hrs in traffic to get to Boston because I live outside of the city. People asked why don’t you change and go someplace closer to Woburn. No I love Beth Israel Hospital, my son was born there and I think it’s a awesome hospital. But after today I might have to rethink that.. I paid for parking, got to the appointment early to find out the Dr. was not available because she was sick. I completely understand that people get sick but the hospital didn’t call me to let me be aware of this and reschedule or make arrangements so I could be seen by other Dr. There was a blatant disregard for my time, and that is very unprofessional. Instead of rescheduling after that I just felt like I don’t want to go back there and I will find somewhere closer.. Sincerely An Old Patient...

Modern technology doesn't make up for 50s style patient care... STAY CLEAR OF DR. KELLY-STILES LABOR AND DELIVERY ANESTHESIOLOGIST. I was on the labor unit a year ago and I need answers. I was given general anesthesia during labor as decided by Dr. Justin Kelly-Stiles. My husband and I were told it was a matter of time urgency-the baby was showing signs of distress. I found out a year later that is NOT the reason listed on my chart for using GA and Dr. Stiles has since changed his tune to reflect what was written in the chart. It was a huge shock and very upsetting to be lied to. It was very important to me to be awake to meet my baby and considering she had an apgar of 2 I'm lucky it wasn't my only chance There were a few other problems with my care that I could've put behind me if not for problems stated in paragraph one. I was told I needed a c-section because the baby "wasn't happy any more." This condescending type of talk was used through out my care, and I feel it insulted my intelligence. Still not sure if that's a BI problem or all labor personnel are trained to talk that way so as not to upset the patient but I somehow think it would be a different if men were giving birth. Also my second labor nurse called me selfish for not wanting my husband to be in the operating room with me during my c-section. I was literally in the push stage of my labor and actually scolded me. She said: "you're a mother now and you have to put some one else's life first from now on." To be fair, not every one on the labor unit was bad my first labor nurse was amazing however I feel I was communicated with so inappropriately that only one star is deserved. *** 8/31/17 LAUREN W's 2 star rating confirms I was not the only one treated like an adult baby. I was just told after months of jumping through hoops with patient relations in order to schedule a short face to face meeting with Dr. Keller-Stiles and Martinez the head of the anesthesiology department nixed my request because he thought "scheduling a meeting would be too stressful for me. First I couldn't handle being awake for my baby's birth and now I can't handle the stress of trying to bring this hospital's policies out of the 50s? Poor little delicate me.

A WORKER THAT GOES BY THE NAME OF JOAQUIN THOMAS GOES TO WORK SMELLING LIKE MARYJUANA AND IS VERY RUDE DEFINITELY WOULD NOT PREFER ANYONE TAKING CARE OF ME UNDER THE INFLUENCE

DJ Rebel

The food here makes was great tasting,”it’s hospital food”, so you’ll need some salt and butter. The staff are friendly to the birthing parent, and I can say that where it counts.

Melissa Jennings

This is the best healthcare I've ever received. Very well staffed with knowledgeable and compassionate professionals. All of my needs were met and exceeded.

Otis Johnson

This been my hospital of choice for year's as it is also a teaching hospital for Harvard Tuffs School of medicine

Sylvia Rua

Did my birthing class & delivered my daughter here. The staff could not have been more supportive & awesome!

Linda Pedini

Left me on hold forever did not get through to my husbands room called 3 times

Do Not go to the Braintree Location of this hospital. No one cares about the patient and when a Dr. leaves you are left high and dry, with no medication and no way to fill the script. They cancel your appointments when the Dr. Leaves, they tell you to call for a new appt. but in the mean time you have no way to get your scripts. I know one person who has ended up in the hospital because of this policy in the Braintree location. DO NOT GO THERE!!!! I do not give this place even 1 star!!!!

I was at New England Baptist with my wife , she slid per kn a wet floor and hit her face hard, Taken by ambulance to Beth Israel ED. Left in hall way 6 hours. Had to insist on head CT ,begged for Tylenol, had to get her ice backs and water myself never checked blood pressure no vitals until she was released I could go on but more of the same. Treated horribly I am so mad I would have do more at CVS with ten dollars. FU all of you,

econojon

Cafeteria isn't separate, so photos attached are from the Thursday specials and vending machines. It is on the second floor near the gift shop. It's pretty quiet in between breakfast and lunch if you want to hang out. The food is meh so you might want to go across the street to the Longwood Galleria and take it back. The food court there is noisy. Note that some departments in the hospital offer free juice, coffee, or crackers. So if you take advantage of the drinks offered to those people giving blood, you won't have to pay in the cafeteria.

Andrew McGlame

This may be the single worst service center I've ever been to (yes, that includes the DMV) and is EASILY the worst hospital that I've been in. My mother and I went in at around 10am for a blood transfusion and it took the hospital 6 hours to even think about beginning. There was no communication between staff and almost all of the nurses on call took hours to do even basic things. This was during an almost completely empty time too. If you care about your loved ones, look for ANY other hospital.

Tj M

The only place I go to for my health needs!

Kristi Marquis

Great hospital!

Lennox Hill

Absolutely the last resort, Endless problems with ER and staff, I advise no one to let your elderly family members or friends not go alone, Seems they like to be mean and unfathomable to the alone elderly......The time has come for a individual to make a stand....62 year old women just had back surgery gets a ambulance in sits in your Emergency department for 5hrs, happens to be a smoker, wasn't expecting a emergency room visit in the first place, goes outside to smoke , and you say she declined services, lady happens to be on a fixed income, your antics caused a $175 taxi bill....And still didn't see a Dr....Shame on your Emergency Department!

Christopher O'Hare

Good medical staff (so far) and a nice facility.

John Orourke

They are very professional and dedicated make you feel at ease they treat everyone that way

Bei Baio

The doctors might be world class, but the manager and patient experiences are third class at the most. I can see disasters waiting to happen given all the miscommunications and incompetency all around

William Robbins

I am a patient of the office on 294 Washington Street in Boston and have only had a great experience. Amazing Doctors and the staff is wonderful. They are great at getting back to me and are fantastic on setting up appointments quickly if I have felt really awful. I Would highly recommend this practice for anyone looking for a primary care physician in Boston

Mila n Alberto Mendoza

My husband had an appendicitis. It was diagnosed by his primary care physician and catscan and everything. His primary care practice office is associate with Beth Israel so we can to ER for surgery. It took 7 hours before they operate even though all necessary test were done in advance. His surgeon came to talk to me and then left at3 am. A doctor never came to check on him, nurse overdosed his pain medication and he was severely nauseated. Had to give him 2 medications to stop the throwing up. They were supposed to transfer us to a private room 1-2h after surgery but never bothered. Poor management - it was explained to us that they are understaffed!!!! After it was apparent he was not well enough and needs to remain under observation they transferred us to a private room only to find that it’s a shared room. His roommate is older man with hearth failure and severe infection. It is awful, horrific experience - we will never come here again. Our health insurance is really good and covers a private room. We have small kids and I had 2c-sections so plenty of ER visits. Been to to mgh, children’s hospital and Newton Wellesley and we never had such a bad experience nor had to share a room. Really really poor management. There has been no doctor that checked on my husband since his surgery - just the nurse.

John Davis

Not sure people who live in and around Boston know how lucky we are to have a resource like BIDMC in our backyard. Everyone from the housekeeper staff to the highly trained and skilled nurses and physicians were wonderful to work with and be around. I understand that no one wants to be ill but if you are, you're extremely fortunate to have a place like this available. Remember that people come from all over the world to be treated here. Thanks to everyone at BIDMC for making my lengthy stay easier!

Christen Pappas

Today I had surgery at BIDMC. My doctor was Dr. Siripanth Nippita. Let me start of by saying that 7 years ago I had a really bad experience & my uterus was perforated. Dr Nippita had more than exceptional bedside manner, very friendly, compassionate & she assured me that she understood that I had a past bad experience but that she would take good care of me. Now, I've had some pretty bad past experiences with not only just OB/GYN doctors but doctors in general these last few years. I fought through a C.Diff infection in 2016 that almost killed me & I was able to get it into remission with the proper treatment in 2017. One of my main concerns with my procedure today was that I needed to take antibiotics. Antibiotics was what caused my C.Diff infection so I now have to be very careful of the types of antibiotics I take. If I take a antibiotic that is associated with C.Diff infection my infection could come back & be harder to treat. I was extremely comforted by the fact that Dr Nippita gave me 3 different options for antibiotics. I of course chose one that is actually used to treat C.Diff. Overall I am glad that I took the 2 day trip from Cape Cod to Boston because it's true what they say. Boston has the BEST doctors. Good doctors are hard to find on Cape Cod! If you see this, Dr. Nippita, thank you so much for taking good care of me!!!

Brian McAdams

I was taken to Beth Israel on Friday having tonic colonic seizures went to 11 floor I cant thank everyone who was in care of me the compassion of staff was above and beyond you should be proud of them. Thank you all Brian McAdams. Dec.jan.feb.lol

Laurel Segal

I’ve gone to BI for all of my specialist related care for the past 6 years. I’ve had a couple mediocre experiences but most have been wonderful. I highly recommend this hospital.

Mike Voss

I could not say enough good things about this place. The staff here is above and beyond any hospital I have ever been in. I would recommend this hospital for any type of an emergency. I almost died and this place now has me on full recovery a fast Speedy Road To back to being normal. Everyone here and I mean everyone from the person that cleans the hospital rooms to the doctors and everyone in between have all been so nice I have never met a nicer relationship before.

Domingo William

All ways great. The nurses are wonderful Angeles. Having large windows in the hospital allows you to not feel closed in.

Sheri Bennett-styckiewicz

People come from all over the world for the gastroenterology division of Beth Israel they are the most up to date ,with the latest Innovative research and Innovative techniques on everything from ulcerative colitis to Crohn's, or IBS. Many Hospitals like to believe that they know what they are doing when it comes to ulcerative colitis but they don't. If you have any of these diseases this is where you need to go. The other place for this is Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Geetika Tahilyani

I went there for getting varicella vaccine after booking an appointment on call. When I reached there, I was told that I will have to undergo a regular screening before they could give me the vaccine. I asked if this would be billed to me and the receptionist said that it is a mandatory requirement for vaccine and hence I will not be billed. For this, they took me to a specialist which was weird because I was only here for a vaccine. And after 5 minutes of consultation, I was given a go ahead for the vaccine. When I went to the nurse for the vaccine, I was told that they do not have the vaccine and I need to come some other day. I was furious as I was in school and had made a prior appointment before going. Anyway, I did not have a choice and came after a week to get my vaccine. Now, after few months I get a bill at my dorm for the initial screen which I was told would not be charged. They billed it as my annual preventive check-up. I was shocked, first of all I was never told it was an annual check up, secondly since when did 5 min question and answer count as annual checkup, thirdly I had already completed my annual check-up (a legit one). There was no way I would pay this illegitimate fee of USD 350. I wrote to them multiple times to dispute the claim but it was never resolved. I got one call from the Doctor's office and the caller was super rude and said that I have to pay this fee. I told her to connect me to her manager and she bluntly said that the manager would have the same answer and disconnected the call. After this incident, I reached out to them multiple times on mail but no response. Now, they have sent my bill to collections and I am being harassed to pay for a service I never knew I was provided. All this looks like a fraud. They made me come twice so that they could bill me for a screening one day since my vaccine was covered by my insurance they could not have extracted the money any other way.

Lia Berenguer

Our first grandchild was born here. Very good service, except I feel they should have kept our son and daughter-in-law instead of returning them home. They had to come right back for delivery. The staff is very caring and professional though. Always checking in and attentive.

Liz Artmom

This is an incredible hospital. Amazing doctors, nurses, and staff. They all took such good care of me during my recent surgery. This was my first experience at BIDMC and I will never go anywhere else!

Cadao Rain

Absolute fraud! I received a $350 bill for a 5 minute new patient visit, when I was told there that it wouldn't cost anything. The doctor (Dr. Sudipta Mohanty, AVOID AT ALL COSTS) told me on the way out that I didn't need to provide any insurance to the front desk, since it was a very brief visit. I asked him to clarify, and he said I wouldn't be charged. I took him at his word, and I left like he said. The real kicker is that I have good insurance, which would've been a low, if any, copay. Instead, they keep insisting that I owe them $350 ($250 for the 5 minutes and an additional $100 for a hospital surcharge) and they have the same useless, scripted reply about the $350 being my responsibility due to documents I signed, etc., etc. This happens over and over every time I contact them! I would rather go without medical care than deal with these crooks! They should be in jail.

Douglas Tepe

Considering there are many many many doctors and clinics inside the medical center it's kinda weird to complain about it without naming which doctor or practice you visited. I happen to love the folks at Healthcare Associates on the first floor. Their staff is super friendly and the doctors are really professional.

Melissa Mccarthy

Emilia the RN on the 7th floor in one of the critical care units has been an absolute joy to work with during the unfortunate time my uncle is in. She was been so nice to my father and I and I couldn't thank her and the team enough. The secretary up there in the 780s was very rude the second day of my visits when I had walked into the unit though. She should have spoken to me in a more professional manner than what was expressed. I work in a hospital and know that thats not how its done.

Yenzel

The doctor are good there but Those nurses in emergency room are rude. but is ok im not from boston no more

Dolth Addams

I have had 2 surgeries at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. All of the staff, from the people who greet you to the surgeons are courteous and make you feel as if you truly matter. The Quality of care leading up to my surgeries, in the pre-op area and with my follow up care were above my expectations. This is what Health CARE should be. Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center exceeds expectations. If I were to have another surgery I would definitely schedule it here.

Elizabeth Simon

Very helpful staff in the Imaging center

Denise Mcdnough

My family would like to thank the Post Op Team and the Division of Neurosurgery Team of Dr. Ron Alterman. My husband underwent brain surgery to have a Deep Brain Stimulator Implanted to help manage the symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease. The care he received from his nurses and everyone he encountered was outstanding. Dr. Alterman was so informative, caring and immediately came out of surgery to personally Inform our family of how my husband was doing. He checked in with us while in post op and today before being discharged. We highly recommend BIDMC. Thank you for your outstanding care. Richard McDonough Family

Came to Beth Israel with husband who was in Severe shoulder pain. He was put in the hallway, and did not give him and pain meds until 2.5 hours after getting there. My husband was in tears, shaking, and was just in unbearable pain. They did nothing for him and sent him home just like that with his pain not even being controlled. We ended up going to another ER where they cared and controlled his pain and did an MRI. Waiting on those results because if something comes out negative on those results, Beth Israel will be hearing from my lawyer!

Alex Papadopoulos

it was a good place for one day to stay there and get checked out from a doctor

These GUYS ARE HUGE SCAMMERS taking advantage of the medical system. I had my annual physical scheduled here and as part of the review the doctor was asking do you have any other discomfort of pains in any other locations. I explained him that I had sporadic abdominal pain. They did not do any prognosis. And for my surprise when I see my Insurance bill they have filled for an amount of $1300+ for my annual physical and another In-patient visit worth $570~ for discussing my abdominal pain which didn't even last for more than 3 minutes. The doctors name is Ms. KELLY FORD. I tried to reach the doctor but she was never spoke to me regarding this and the help desk was so rude they were like this is how we do it and threatened me that they were going to send my bill to collections. I ended up paying the remainder and never had an explanation nor the diagnosis report that they performed/discovered/discussed with me.

Brian Kanto

Wow, it sounds like a Hospital that should spend less time being politically correct and give good medical care instead. The doctor you fired for both religious and that you did not want to look at the science, has a perfect rating even before this story broke. I could care less about what people do in their home, he just did want you supporting it and had data to prove it. When did promoting any lifestyle become the business of hospital , unlesss that life style shows improved health I never see a reason. Wrong people got fired. It was the bigots who are still there. He treated everyone the same. The board did not

Doreen Galvin

Very clean, efficient, the staff makes you feel at ease

I spent 29 hours at BID getting my appendix out and was impressed with how happy and friendly every, and I mean every staff member was. Morale is certainly high there. Not for a moment did my wife or I feel rushed as they answered every question and showed me my CT scan and insides. It seems strange to say that I enjoyed my time there yesterday, but under the circumstances I can't imagine feeling more comfortable. I am grateful to surgeons Dr. Pete, Dr. Lee, Dr. Houser, and Dr. Cook as well as RN Brittany Small and her sidekick Lindsey. Instead of calling, as promised, Dr. Cook instead found my wife sleeping in the waiting room and woke her up to give her the good news that my surgery was a success.

If I could put a negative star I would. My dad was in the hospital and had his stomach out. He was N. P. O, which means nothing by mouth. Dad was only supposed to be in the hospital for 7 to 10 days. He e was also supposed to start chemo the following month. 6 months and 1 week later, and after 5 times where he coded and brought back to life, he was on his way to recovering. But because of a screw up with a Dr not knowing my dad's case, they gave my dad 28 ounces of Apple juice. He aspirated into his only good lung and his J-tube came undone sending feces through his body. Their negligence in what they did, gave my dad a life sentence. My dad didn't start chemo until a year and a half later. What they did was wrong. We hired a lawyer, and the hospital told them they were going to settle. But because my dad doesn't have much time, they decided not to. They basically murdered my father and got away with it. If you need a hospital, please stay away from this one. You can go in for surgery to live a longer life and because of their actions, my dad probably won't make in past 2017. So please stay away from this hospital. They tend to kill someone instead of fixing them.

Worst hospital ever. Almost died there! I had very bad reactions (high fever etc)due to 5 immunizations taken all at once(the doctor said it's ok even though I questioned). So Harvard vanguard(where I got the immunization) told me to go to the emergency at Beth Israel. I waited for hours In the emergency waiting room whereas the doctor knew I had a high fever and other symptoms. And when I talked to the doctor she was really mad, she said you just have a fever. you could've told me earlier then I don't have to worry about if something else is going wrong with me. I've waited the whole time because I thought I needed some medical treatments that I can't do by myself. So I ended up going to the cvs near by and bought a box of Tylenol and went back home.

There was an initial glitch in seeing the doctor, but Patient Relations quickly corrected it and got me right in. The doctor is excellent - very experienced, communicates well. He was worth the wait.

Chet Kosinski

Always treated as I was there only patient. Very professional and caring.

I was transferred for a Maxillofacial surgery over an hour away because I live in Western MA and minutes after Having my surgery, literally minutes, on a Sunday I was released with them refusing to give me my PERSCRIPTION methadone that I’ve been on for 5 years even after confirming with my doctor that she gives it to me every morning and they close at 10:00 because it’s a controlled substance. So, long story short, I was released at 9:00 and missed my daily meds because they refused to fill a prescription that I take every day because of the doctors personal stigma. Thanks guys for the surgery, no pain meds and refusing to give me a 5 year prescription that I to this day take daily with no problems. It’s your job to make sure we get better, not refuse and decline meds and prescriptions that exist for a reason.

Excellent experience, I spent 10 days here after being med flighted from Cape cod Dr.s saved my life and care from nurse's & staff was excellent. Nurse's went out of their way to make me comfortable,(Thank you Nurse Megan & all the others) most food was good especially breakfast & well above other hospitals in the Boston area. Everyone who has complaints here may have had 1 bad experience. Give them a break & another shot

Anthony Berube

Thank you for having doctors that care!

This place saved my life and did it in a caring, professional, and respectful way. I always felt truly cared for and felt that I could ask anything and have it answered by their entire staff. Everyone was amazing and I would recommend them to eveyone.

I work here and get my care here. I think it's fantastic

Brock Kerr

Although the hospital itself seems to offer good care. The rooms at least in the Farr building for patients are extremely small, no room to move around, most rooms are over crowded. It's not even comfortable enough for a family member to stay. Also the parking in the Pilgrim garage is tight and overpriced considering this is used for people receiving direct care or for family visiting patients. Maybe it's because they don't have the real estate but it could use some serious updates.
