Worst hospital ever. PAs work ER. Was brought in unconscious by ambulance left in hallway unattended. Another time was brought in by ambulance and accused of dr shopping and drug seeking when I'm disabled. Found out later they billed my insurance for tests they had never run. Filed federal complaint with Medicare. 3 yrs ago they mistreated my husband -a disabled veteran who due to improper treatment had to be taken to Omaha and has been hospitalized since.

The emergency room we were put in was not clean. There was a used Kleenex on the floor along with other pieces of what looked like backing off bandages. 8-6-18 My husband had an appointment at 6:15pm for an MRI. He was told to go to the Emergency room at 6:00 to be checked in and taken to the MRi. We get there at 5:55 and tell them we are here for an out patient MRI and they said well its going to be a bit so have a seat. We sat in the waiting room until 6:45 watching the staff just hang out and socialize with each other. My husband went up to the counter and asked how much longer they thought it would take to get him checked in and sent to MRI. The young man at the counter asked the lady that registers you in that had been sitting and socializing with him and the other lady, and she comes out into the waiting room and says ' MRI called and told us to have you call them tomorrow to reschedule.' my husband asked why and she said ' she didn't know ' that's just what they were told. This morning my husband gets a call from them to reschedule. They said we need to reschedule because you missed your appointment last night. Bottom line is. We were there on time and Because they forgot to do their job we sat there for an hour and had to reschedule. This hospital is a joke

Some of the best Surgeon's around. Very knollegable and friendly staff all around. All the way from the FREE Vale parking, Emergency Room's then off to the Outpatient Surgical Center and on to the Outpatient Recovery room's and all the way up to the Extended Stay patient rooms they all make your stay that much more enjoyable to the point you don't wanna leave. Only kidding, or am I?

My grandmother is currently in ICU at Great Plains. After being in bed for 14 hours she asked the nurse (who is pregnant) to help her to the bathroom. The nurse replied that she is 8 months pregnant & doesn't want my grandma to fall & hurt her baby. The nurse told her to just pee in her pants. We have filed a complaint, to say the least.

I cannot thank Whitney RN progressive care and Andy RT for the fabulous care they took of my Dad. Whitney was wonderful! She took time out of her busy schedule answering family questions and worked with others to make sure Dad went home with everything he needed for success. Andy spent TWO HOURS providing valuable COPD education!! You both are absolutely awesome!! I'm grateful for you both. GOD bless you guys and the wonderful work you do.

Nice & clean. In this day & age, with all our technology, shouldn't a patient's information go with them from ER to hospital when it's the same place????

If I could give a 0 I would. I was flown in flight for life with heart trouble. I spent 5 hours in the ER with only a Dr Smith coming in twice during that whole time and the nurses left a lot to be desired most were rude and didn’t come back to check on me. I WAS FLOWN IN AND HAD HEART ISSUES!!! Dr Nish Navaratnarajah was by far the rudest person I have ever encountered!!! She had absolutely no idea what I was in for and it took her over 5 hours in the ER and another 2 hours in my room before I even saw a cardio doctor. She was the doctor that had to admit me. The nurses in the room left a lot to be desired also. The heart cath lab personal were outstanding but the rest of the hospital staff was the worst I have ever seen. I will never use this hospital again or recommend it to anyone!!!

We call for my girlfriend because she had had kidney stones removed and a stint put in 4 days later she was still in pain the meds weren't helping and was still peeing blood the nurse told her it was alright and these signs are normal when she told her Wat the other nurse said and that they all should of been better by now she argued with her and her sister over we had to call patient advocate for this matter to be fixed and had to return back to the er for 4th time in a week so I call the advocate back the next day and found out the nurse told her something different and they believed her so I ask if they had talk to her about it and no they hadn't and asked if they where going to they said I hope this happened because others don't need the same problem as well.....there is something wrong with this hospital and it needs to be fixed they make the money to do so so why has it not happening I have lived here 10 years and it isn't getting better look into this

NP is fortunate to have a facility with such state of the art equipment and many specialties represented. The staff is very involved in the community and I really like the wellness focus I am seeing recently.

I was recently emitted into this hospital about a month ago for a car accident on the interstate. I was given a male doctor with a bald head and a messy beard. Not that it matters what he looks like, but I just want to be sure you know who I’m talking about. He treated me terribly like I was a hassle rather than someone who was in distress. He also Asked me passive aggressive questions, and was trying to make me feel stupid about the accident I was involved in, when it wasn’t even my fault. Overall, the only nice people were the lovely nurses making up for catastrophic belligerence displayed by the careless doctor. I hope that doctor gets to read this, and decides to bring a different attitude to work.

Not impressed with this hospital. Nursing staff is rude, ancillary departments seem to hire inept people, and the er is not impressive. I have sole legal decisions regarding my children and Haley (Sisson?) in the er refused to give me information regarding my child when her father who has no legal or physical custody took her there for a non emergent visit. I more than understand hippa but it was a very rude and frustrating encounter and I do not recommend anyone use this facility unless absolutely necessary.

My son had an ultrasound here as an outpatient. The insurance did not cover $600 dollars of it. There was a separate $150 bill for a radiologist to read it. Funny thing is the technologist gave us his results, but we never heard from the provider or the radiologist. This hospital will nickel and dime you for everything. Don't even think of checking into the ER, its like they require you to sign in blood, show drivers license, insurance card, give two or three phone numbers, social security number. Its like being incarcerated in jail (if I was ever in jail). You give up all your rights and then get overcharged for every lab. Even if you don't get served food in the ER, if you are there long enough, you will get charge. Granted the service was good, but the health system is mediocre (and that is being polite). Maybe this is why all the good doctors leave the area or state to go to better health care systems. Summary: ok care, overpriced, overcharged.

Pops had an accident and we got an ambulance ride from Halsey national forest to north Platte and since we got here the attention was excellent! I was a bit skeptical due to the reviews but the care and help was incredible we are truly great full for this hospital and everyone in it! Thank you!

Would like to leave 0 stars! Not sure how anyone got their education at GPH. They'll run tests on you all day to get a confirmation for surgery (just so they can get the money) then refuse to do surgery because of the risk! WHY RUN THE TESTS IF YOU KNOW YOUR NOT GOING TO DO THE SURGERY?!? I know why, MONEY$$$. So Sad! If you have the opportunity, drive right by this hospital and go elsewhere! A veterinarian office would be better than this place! Incompetent facility!

Dr. Mike Crisman is by far the best doctor at the hospital.

This terrible hospital put the wrong knee cap in my grandpas knee during a knee replacement. His quality of life has descended. During a heart surgery, these armature doctors nicked an artery. Most recently, my grandpa has been diagnosed with pre-cancer skin cancer. The medicine they gave him made his face raw and he can't work because of the extreme pain. Finally, my grandpas step son had a chemo port put in incorrectly which caused a life threatening bloodclot. I am NOT impressed.

The best hospital we have ever been in. Two surgeries and multiple visits to the cancer center. I am 65 years old and never received better care, the housekeepers, doctors, nurses, occupational therapists etc. all are the best. The food is great too. I drive 11/2 hours from Colorado to this hospital. So blessed to have found this gem in the middle of Nebraska.

Nurses are nice but I feel like they don't care about the patients alot.when I was in a room waiting for medical attention all I heard was nurses and doctors laughing.i was in a lot of pain and feel like if they weren't messing around I could have been out of pain Sooner and just out of their hair.

My friend was in the week before he passed. He was weak, dizzy, and had bloody stools. Common signsof internal bleeding. They did NO testing and let him go. Exactly a week later he went back in by ambulance. He died of a burst artery.

I just wanted to thank the staff and in the ER and PCU. I was recently sent by the VA system to your facility with shortness of breath. The ER staff took charge and gave peace of mind went to work and gave me the treatment I needed. I was admitted to the PCU and the care continued. I would recommend your facility to anyone in need of health care. Again thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thomas Kinnersley

Don't get me wrong I've never had a problem with any of the doctors or staff, but their billing services make me want to rip out my hair. I have called several time trying to set up an automatic payment only to get notices about over do payments because the hadn't taken the payment, then they billed me twice for the same device and now they keep calling my mother instead of me even though they say the have my number and have even read it back to me when I've asked.

I would love to leave more stars for the support staff, but our experience at GPH was ruined by a terrible anesthesiologist. Our experience coming over for emergency surgery to the main GPH complex from the amazing Orthopedics office was quite a shock. Our son needed emergency surgery on his finger to remove a foreign body. Due to the nature of this surgery and the fact he had eaten just a few hours before, it was recommended by our surgeon that local anesthesia would be sufficient, and was also in mutual agreement by the younger and awesome Male (who may have been a resident anesthesiologist of sort or nurse...not sure) that if my son, age 9, had anxiety they would offer him a mild oral sedative to relax him during the procedure and to help endure the painful shots into his finger...he's 9, he's scared, and he'll be awake. Yes, he needed a mild sedative. They made it very clear they wanted him to feel safe and comfortable. The surgeon felt it was too risky to do general anesthesia with food in his stomach. And being a fairly minor surgery, local anesthesia would be fine in this situation. In agreement, the younger Male went to prepare the oral sedative to give my son before surgery. Meanwhile, Naomi Mathews, MD, the anesthesiologist comes in on call. This is around 6pm. She appeared to be rather inconvenienced by my son's situation and treated everyone like they were beneath her. Rude. Conceited. Poor manners. After hearing the surgery plan, she insisted they do a general anesthesia, even after she knew my son had a meal just a few hours prior. She rudely barked what should be done. It appeared she was angered by the males making decisions and wanted to make a point that she called the shots. No listening, no communication, no conversations were had. So, My husband and I refused to let them give our son the general anesthesia, after all of the advice from our surgeon and the younger Male (who my son just loved). Our refusal clearly angered Mathews. Money out of her pocket or power-tripping? Who knows! When the younger Male arrived with the dose of pink oral sedative, she smirked and said "if he isn't doing general anesthesia, he will not get that." As if it was my 9 year old son's punishment to not be allowed this medicine. It appeared that if she didn't get her way my son was to suffer from our decision as parents. So, my son took the painful shots deep in his finger with just the kind assurance from the younger Male, and also by the surgeon who offered my son his phone to watch a movie...to keep his mind calm. (These two are amazing people.) Unfortunately, Mathews has the bedside manner of an old wet dishrag: Useless and putrid. Putting a child through unnecessary anxiety in the scariest situation he's ever been in is just pure evil. Naomi, if God has blessed you with any children, I hope they never get the same, ugly treatment you so easily bestowed upon our son in his weakest moment. And to the people who work with Naomi, God Bless you for putting up with that toxic behavior. You people deserve better leadership.

Although I would love to leave more stars because my husbands night nurse was amazing... I wasnt impressed with the doctor at all. I dont think we saw her one time...to discharge my husband she literally called the nurse on a phone and had her put her on speaker. I've never heard oe seen this done before. I was appalled.

The pulmonologist was really nice but she told me my results would be sent the next day and I should hear back from my doctor within a few days. It actually took them a month to send my results to my doctor.

I am really glad this hospital is here. All I had to do this time, was get some blood work done, and I must say it wasn't a big deal or a bad experience at all, due to the caring and supportive staff.

I wanted to take the opportunity to relate my recent experience with Great Plains Healthl. My wife and I were headed back home thru Nebraska when I experienced some chest pains and not wanting to take any chances we stopped in North Platte as I didn't know where my next opportunity for health care would be. We went into the emergency room and once hospital personnel knew what my symptons were they jumped into action. I was impressed with their actions, professionalism, and their explaining what tests they .were performing and why. They informed me it would prudent that I be kept overnight so they could continue to monitor me to see if a did have a heart attack or not. This wasn;t what I wanted to hear but I knew they were correct and I wanted a correct assessment so I spent the night. Dr. Carlson, the emergency room doctor knew we wanted to get back on the road so he arranged some tests for the next morning and your hospital personnel carried everything out the next morning as expeditiously as possible and we had the results of all the tests and I was discharged shortly before noon. I couldn't have asked or expected any better service than what .I received at your hospital. Your personnel on 2 east were also as professional and caring as I could ask for. A traveling nurse by the name of Gregg (I believe) introduced me to my nurse who was just coming on shift and also informed me I would probably also meet her twin sister the next day when I hoped to be discharged. I was discharged and did meet her and it was a real joy as she saw me on my way. Being a native Iowan I am accustomed to the down home personalities of mid westerners and always felt comfortable and at ease with all the nurses and nurses aids. In conclusion I met some great, caring, and professional people. The people of western Nebraska are most fortunate to have the quality health care and health professionals which they have in North Platte. (Hopefully the government won't screw it up.) My only dilemma now is the next time I'm thru North Platte I'll want to stop by and say hello. I feel like I met some true friends. Life could be a lot worse , couldn't it? Thank you Dr. Carlson, the other emergency room doctors and nurses, my nurses and nurses aid, and everyone else who made my stay so memorable. Ray Oberreuter Van Couver, Wa.
