REVIEWS OF St. Louis Children's Hospital Emergency Room IN Missouri

This is the only hospital I would trust my child going to. I drive 4 hours one way just to make sure he has the best care. I have absolutely no complaints.

Very nice environment and staff. Best experience we’ve had with a hospital.

Our son was brought here directly after birth from a different hospital due to complications during delivery. We are still currently here but I had to write a review now to say thank you so much for all the hard work and dedication to our boy. The staff has been absolutely amazing and has made us feel like one big family. There are many patients here at this facility, yet this hospital makes our family feel like he is the only one under their care. The focus, drive, accountability and expertise the staff shows my son and family is top notch. THANK YOU St. Louis Children's Hospital and THANK YOU NICU !

You have to prepare yourself with snacks, drinks, picnic basket, games, books, pillows, blankets etc. you WILL be waiting for hours. There is no way around it. I brought my daughter in at 11:30pm and we didn’t leave until 4:30am. They have no sense of urgency at all so.... maybe try Cardinal Glennon

Best nurses and doctors. They saved my now 14 year olds life

Not impressed. .Bright decor and cheery colors can't cover up the filthy floors and walls. Bathrooms comparable to what you would find at a gas station. Doctors are rude and speak to you in a manner that you feel like you appear to be on the lowest functioning level possible. I spent 7 hhours in this dump and the very young resident doctor rolled his eyes and sighed at me more times than I could count. I would never in a million years come back to this place. My 8 y old even asked why the doctor was acting so mean! I am sure they are wonderful if you are a chronic care patient and havhavea good healthcare plan. ..bbeware if your children have a medical card. .You will be treated accordingly .Pretty sad conconsidering that 75% of the residents in this area qualify for government assistance ..I mean really , just because you took a oath to help your patients does not mean to only treat the patients you seem " worthy" with respect and dignity.

Worst experience ever

The worst experience ever. We got here at 5:30 PM to be seen for a 6 year old who needed his big toe stitched. It is now 9:30PM and they just keep telling us we are next as we see others go back. He is probably heeled by now.

Apparently Children's Hospital only cares about sick kids with insurance. My nephew needs tests ran and they rejected him because the family does not have insurance (by choice, they can afford it. It's not a money issue.) Why make a kid suffer when they have no control over that kind of thing. It shows you don't care about the kids, only about money.

Horrible been here 5 hours still waiting on a room watch 13 people walk out and 10 from rooms inside keep being told they are short staff place is a joke rude people go some where else

They saved my daughter's life.

Currently here right now, and I’ve had 3 different nurses and 3 different doctors. Every time someone comes in, they don’t do anything and then they say they’ll be back, only to be back an hour to two hours later. It’s absolutely ridiculous. There is no type of urgency at all. I’m in excruciating pain and I have to wait for hours to get the things that they say will be done, DONE.

I can’t even begin to say how disappointed I am in our local “best children’s hospital “. As a former employee (in the90’s) this hospital has gone so downhill it’s like we’ve been having a bad dream ... or nightmare. It’s filthy, the staff is incompetent And rude. If you’re going to be rude and have an ego at least be good. When asked about his cate and why they were putting 2 patients in a room obviously built to be private room they said “ we have too many patients and not enough staff”. I said “so that’s our fault, this is too small to have 2 cribs plus families, my bathroom and closet are bigger”. I asked to have him moved to a private room ... they said “ we are understaffed in the entire hospital” Then they pushed my 22 month old grandsons crib up against the wall to move the new patient in. Within 30 minutes I found him reaching thru the crib rai and playing with one the 3... yes 3! cords and tubings having off the wall and wrapping one around his had and neck!! After I removed the cord from his neck I pulled his crib out into the center of the tiny “double room” myself. There’s even more but I’m tired and I’ll add more later. PLEASE take your children to Cardinal Glennon or Mercy for their safety and your sanity. This hospital is not the top hospital it used to be. It breaks my heart to say it. I’ll be going in this morning to discuss this with adminstation. I received a panicked text from my daughter this morning at 3 am. This is so scary when it’s your child or grandchild. I just wanted people to know. If hope I can save your family from going through this nightmare.

Phone system alone makes this place deserve a 1 star or less. Gastroenterology department is horrible. We fly our daughter to Chicago now. It’s ridiculous for a city of this size that we have to do that.

I can't say enough positive things about St. Louis Children's Hospital. It is bright, clean and the staff and always cheerful. I rarely have a long wait in the ER unless it is in the middle of flu season. (ALL hospitals are crowded at this time -- they do their best to move patients through quickly and efficiently.) My child loves coming to Children's, even though it usually means a shot or something unpleasant. The staff make what would otherwise be a scary experience into a good experience. One of my child's favorite things is the signature train by the parking garage and all of the fun animals on the outside of the building. The medical staff are top notch and I feel really blessed to live so close to a world class medical school. It is worth a trip into the city for the best care! The West County location is also wonderful, as well as convenient.

Expect to wait 4+ hours to see a doctor. Room was dirty looked like they were trying to push people out.

I want to recognize Vanessa in the children’s same day surgery. Vanessa is the pregnant nurse in this department. Kyle our son was having eyelid repair and Kyle although an adult can be very unpredictable especially with new people he has anxiety really badly. Vanessa was amazing, she asked what Kyle likes we said Barney cause Kyle is nonverbal. So Vanessa sang Barney songs to Kyle while she was getting vitals. Then so they could do an IV she held his hand got an IPad with Barney on it so he could watch iPad while a nurse came in to do the IV. Vanessa continued to hold Kyle’s hand until Anastesia came in to wheel him away. Thank you very much for having such an amazing nurse on your staff like Vanessa. The Thorson’s

Worst hospital I've ever been to..children's hospital made Granite City look like a five star..to start out when my daughter and I got there a little after 8:30pm the security guard was cussing at a patients mother..around 11pm we finally got regestered and was sent to the back..around 12am the nurse came in asked a few questions and said the dr would be in shortly..at 3am I went out and asked when the dr was going to be in to see my daughter and he just turned around and keep typing on computer ignoring me so I went back to room and left with my daughter..this place is joke..would NOT recommend taking your child to this hospital. Im typing this at 4:14am the same day and yes I will be contacting someone in charge in a few hours and if not handled correctly I will be contacting other sources.

My son was brought to this hospital by ambulance while visiting St. Louis fro.t he zoo. The staff were very rude and inconsiderate. I had two of my other children wouldnt let is set out in emergency waiting. Was a complete unsatisfactory. My daughter is seen in Indianapolis Indiana and never have I been so upset about the staff. Gave me a whole different view on Children's hospital care. If they are rude and disrespectful to the visitors, how do they really treat your child?? Never would I let one of My children been seen at the hospital.

I am here now and have been waiting 4 hours and yet to have seen the doctor. This is ridiculous the ER is empty and we are just sitting here in pain while the nurses and doctors are playing around in the halls. Go to Cardinal Glennon they are faster and better!
