I thought the nursing staff was great (On the 4th floor) and the hospital was nice and comfortable!!! Everyone there was also very good with all the needles I had to endure!!! Very good Hospital!!!

5 Er visits and 2 hospital stays and never found my Hip fracture!!! Treated like a number not a human being...fracture finally found by outpatient physician appt/test !! Extremely incompetent care with rude and downright UNCARING INCOMPADDIONATE care!!! Slept IIN Wheelchair IN EXCRUCIATING PAIN for 6 wks before getting a diagnosis. It also seems like they hire their doctors from a day labor pool from the Middle East.i checked out the credentials of one doc that saw me who graduated from the#184 th rated Med school in Bangladesh!!!!! OMG-run. Run fast (if you can even walk)....

TLDR: Horrible wait times, communication, and ER doctors are contracted externally and out-of-network. I only have experience with the emergency room, which was not good. I had to wait two hours in the waiting room and three more in the hospital room. The nurse was friendly but got my vitals and never returned. No one checked on us or gave us any idea of timing. The doctor spent less than five minutes with me, and they we had to wait longer. By the time it was said and done, I spent almost six hours in the ER with less than 10 minutes of communication. After the bad experience, I received a bill, in addition to my copay, for the doctor because he was contracted by another company. I purposely chose an in-network hospital, and I have no control of the only doctor on staff. Currently fighting that with my insurance. If at all possible, make 15 minute drive to anywhere else.

I will only go to the ER here if I'm desperate; otherwise there are much better choices in the St. Louis Metro Area. I have brought my special needs daughter to St. Joseph with a high fever and flu-like symptoms...nothing to mess around with when you are an epileptic!! And they have left us sit in the waiting room for hours while my daughter screamed at the top of her lungs!! I finally gave up and went to Barnes Jewish Hospital ER in St. Peters, where we were greeted by friendly faces and seen immediately by a physician!!:)

I was very Thankful for the care I received.

There is too many things all wrong with alot of the staff on the Specialty side of St. Joseph hospital. This facility was highly recommend for moms recovery and when I seen and observed (some of the staff including the head nurses) I was terribly disappointed. Some of the staff was just rough around the edges, no bedside manners, unfriendly, with a negative attitude as well as being rude. Also if assistance was needed it would take forever for anyone to come. I could go on and on about the facilty but the bottom line is that I pray that I or anyone else in my family would never have to be admitted there and I would not recommend this facility. There were several days that I did not have a piece of mind nor feel comfortable everytime I left my mom with always feeling or thinking of the uncertainty of some of the staff. On a positive note there were a few including the therapist that was wonderful with my mom, which I wish them well in career path but yet there is always a few bad apples in the bunch that would ruin it for everyone else.

Do not go their ER. The doctors are sub contractors thru a non covered company on most insurances. They do not tell you this until you receive your discharge paperwork. I seen a nurse practitioner the entire time, the doctor was in my room less than 1 minute right before I was discharged and I'm still waiting to see the bill. They should tell you they are so bad they cant get doctors to work for them so they have to subcontract when you first arrive. Also, how they tell you is a little piece of paper at the very back of your discharge paperwork that doesnt say anything about them being out of network or different than the hospital billing wise just that they are sub contractors. To make matters worse I was misdiagnosed, I went to my doctor the following Monday and everything was fine.

Brittany Kappauff

Never use there icu and these drs and nurses dont follow health care directives very well either. So rude as to sit in front of a terminally ill patient and speak of her deteriorating condition while she listens.

Kara Sawyer

The nurses were above amazing. We were there for 2 days and 1 night. We had exceptional care. The nurses took time to listen to our concerns and they were quick to respond to our needs. Everyone on staff was kind and conpassionate. I can't say enough good things about our visit.

josephclint williams

Absolutely terrible, my wife was admitted for 3 days for drs to say " I don't know, go back to work" she still can't walk months later. Thanks st. Joe's! Wouldn't take my dog here.

Stephen Douglas

My daughter was born here and too many other family members as well for various reasons. Never has there been a problem with the care of myself and family.

Shannon and Seth Jaycox

I am so upset with the doctor that treated me. It was great that i got through the waiting room pretty fast. I was going into the er because I was withdrawal from meds. I was completely honest with him and what was going through. He spent maybe 5 min with me and left. On top of that he looked frustrated that he had to deal with me. I went in there not looking for narcotics but looking for help. No compassion at all and I felt like a idiot for even going there. Now I am sure that I have to pay a big bill just for 5 min. This guy should be fired. I will NEVER EVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN EVER.

Simon Huang

My dad has been a patient here multiple times (is currently there now) and has received professional and attentive care every time. A special call out to a Timeka, a support partner on floor 4, for her extra efforts!

Jaime French

I came into the ER unable to breathe and was told there were "just a couple rooms that were being cleaned" and that I would be taken back shortly. Sat there wheezing for over an hour, meanwhile a poor girl next to me was in so much agony she couldn't even sit still, and she had been there longer than me. There was zero sense of urgency to help any of us. The waiting room kept accumulating more people so I left. Thank God for Progress West.

paul nunya

unless you want to sit around for hours complaining and getting no where id go to some other place i just walked out on them because my wife and baby were freezing after 4 hours of waiting seems to be a trend starting at this hospital i will not be back to this hospital as the nurses were not even paying attention as i ripped out my i v and left

Jennifer Parkus

They get u back quickly in ER. But not fast after that . Friendly enough but there is something missing that makes u feel like everything is gonna be great

Janis Bradbury

DO NOT TAKE YOUR FAMILY MEMBER HERE! My father is hospitalized and they will not let me see him. I have given them my ID, offered my birth certificate and social security card, whatever I could to prove to them that I was his daughter. Because I wasn't with him when he was admitted and according to Nurse Ratchet who answers the phone "real family would have the secret code we issued when he came in." He could be dying! "We're just following protocol," they say. Well, I've never had to deal with this before nor at any other hospital. I'll have to wait until he's discharged or I get a call from the coroner.

Gregg Dickherber

If you e as nt proper care, and proper bedside manner please look elsewhere please...... this place does not care about your health or loved ones sadly. Take your chances and travel further to barnes, or st Luke's anywhere but here. Very dated technology and most of the staff in the er and ICU struggle to properly do their chosen profession. This place needs help asap!!!!

Tara Brockgreitens

This is my first time at this hospital. Today I delivered a baby boy❤️ he's beautiful and healthy!!!!! I was in so much pain but the nurses and staff were excellent in staying by my side. I would definitely recommend this hospital to others. I'm very pleased by how much everyone cares thank you St. Joseph for everything

Pediatric was great, quick service and plenty of hand holding for my little lad where needed. Wait was good, but I did feel a bit lucky to find a park!

JR Carnell

I visited through the ER with a life threatening issue. I ended up having several procedures including a 4.5 hour surgery. I was then in recovery through Christmas up until the New Year and the health care individuals at this hospital were the best I have ever been around. I was made to feel absolutely comfortable and was well taken care of. I would recommend this hospital to everyone.

James Nihill

On Christmas Day they called the cops me and had me removed from the facility because I didn’t have a place to go until the next day

It would be zero if Google would allow. I brought my wife up to the ER to be seen. Er staff was very nice, and were fast to have her taken back to a room. I needed to move my car, but I wanted to get her back to a room. A female security guard yelled at me for having my car parked in the wrong spot. I explained I was about to move it soon. She then said the "sooner the better, or else". I looked at the nurse and she said thats just her. My wife was taken back to her room, and I went out to move my car. I asked the Security girl where i could park, but she ignored me. She was on her cell phone outside more worried about getting more tattoos on her arm, which were visible, and in bad taste in my opinion. I asked again where could I park, she lowered the phone and said to me "Cant you read the signs"and pointed towards a garage. Then she put the phone back to her ear and explained to who she was on the phone with, "God I hate dealing with stupid idiots". Once I found the garage, I came back to the ED. I had to pass the Security guard again still on her phone, using language vulgar language loudly for all to hear . I spoke with the er nurse about the guard, and she also said thats just her. I feel bad a person like that is there to make people feel safe. Will not go back to that place.

I was taken in by an ambulance for head trauma and had a terrible experience. It took about 4 hours to have staples put in it. Something was going on that the police were involved in, possibly overdose, or someone from the jail, but the staff were all nosey with that situation, with the police guarding the doors, and we're not paying attention to the patients. I have family members who were witness to all of this. I needed to use the restroom and was given a bed pan, but no assistance from staff to use it and layed in urine that spilled onto the sheets for about an hour. I had to ask them to get me off the bed pan eventually. When I was released, the er doctor did not write a release for me to return to work, so they would not let me return without it. I went to my personal physician who would not write it because he did not treat me. I had to go back to the er 2 days later to get a release from them. They have sent me a bill for 447$, and my insurance also paid 190$ in addition to the 447$. This was because of their negligence in not giving me a release to return to work. That is all I went back for was for a written release. Not any treatment. Maybe instead of getting into the police business, they should have been taking care of the patients who were in there, they would have done their job. My family that was in the er with me were shocked. They were asking questions because I was not going to appear as a whiner, but these were things the staff should have been taking care of instead of spending their time being nosey with a situation the police were handling. It was some kind of situation that wasn't involving someone in the er. My family members were hearing some things of the situation. I should not have been billed just to go in for a work release they were negligent in not giving me when I was discharged that evening.

Bayley Quain

Should have read the reviews before coming here. Expect to be blindsided with massive bills.

Nations Drywall

The maternity and delivery department is the bomb. We've had 2 babies delivered there and the treatment was top notch. Everybody was very caring and informative which made the experience as smooth as possible.

Bill Dahlheimer

WARNING!! The ER Doctors are independent contractors. Insurance refused to pay because they were out of network. Phone number on the bill was to a collection agency. ER Doctors do not have an office to contact. SSM management refused to anything.

Cody Willis

Waited two hours before being told I had a room and some one would be in to get me. Twenty minutes went by and i had to sit in the hall before a different nurse came out. She then said in sorry I forgot about you. Mind you I came in for a migraine and came in before the vomiting started and was there long enough to then start vomiting. In then informed there was a bad car crash. How many doctors do thug have on a shift one? Its a hospital for Christ sake. This happens every time I come here. I would go some where else but its the closet to my house. I wouosnt let my pregnant girlfriend have our baby here due to the horrible service and wait time.

Jake Vogt

Terrible

Maria Osuna

Awful, TERRIBLE experience. I was inpatient 3 days before I had ENOUGH and AMA’d myself. Keep in mind I am pregnant and my OB is from Mercy I was supposed to have been transferred to Mercy from Saint Joseph but Saint Joseph never attempted to do the transfer nor did they ever even call my OB to let her know I was even there like they were supposed to . I “Discharged against medical advice” and I will never go bk to this hospital EVER AGAIN. Im pregnant with gallbladder problems and my gallbladder needs to come out. This is a procedure when you only have a small window of time to do it while pregnant. The only thing they kept doing was beating around the bush, doping me full of morphine for the pain and waiting. In my opinion the surgeons arent competent or knowledgeable enough to do surgery on a pregnant woman and their scared. I know I should’ve went to Mercy for their drs level of experience to begin with and I knew it. The nurses are terrible. They let your machine go hours beeping when your iv runs out even after you tell them. I was on a small floor with not many patients and had to wait hours. They don’t use a pic line so I had to be stuck over 10 times to draw blood, like being impatient WHAT HOSPITAL DOES THAT?? Not MERCY. I had to ivs bc the Er nurse accidently ripped my other one out. Ob unit you’d think they never did a fetal heartbeat test before because they were killing me every 8 hrs stabbing me with the Doppler on a 14 wm old fetus for a heartbeat that I wanted to cry because they didn’t know what they were doing. I HAD IT i hate this hospital AWFUL DONT GO THERE

stephen miceli

Still in hospital after having major heart surgery. I gotta tell you, the staff here from Surgeons to nurses is absolutely amazing.they are there instantly when I need them, to listen to what's hurting, asses, and come up with a solution to make me happy. GREAT Job guys.Recovery from heart surgery was fasI and easy. couldn't be happier. Stephen Miceli

First we came in and they put my mother in the psych wing and held her there for longer than necessary. Then she was being treated for the staff infection that she had in 2008 (if she still had it she would be dead by now) she was needing to be treated for her heart infection that they had to go through her grion to see what was wrong with it. Then when they kept putting antibiotics in her IV and she didnt need them any more. They had started to burn and they told her "your fine" from go i have hated that hospital. Please dont go there.

Joy King

Deplorable beside manner in the ER and absolutely no compassion. Had to file a complaint. I’ve also seen another comment below similar to mine where they are more concerned with whether or not you just seeking narcotic pain medicine and judge you right off the bat if you are in but they can’t find quickly enough what is causing it. Doctors take an oath to relieve their patients of pain, not play police officer. My HIPPA rights were also violated. Doctor loudly announced that one of my issues was being constipated yet I had blood in my urine.y obgyn sent me there and I was apprehensive about going because of prior mistreatment and accusations of seeking pain medicine. Passed a kidney stone shortly after discharge which they claimed they didn’t see on MRI.

Stacy Bucher

This is the worst hospital ever!!stay clear

Baji Klusert

Just called to ask about what the process would be for high blood sugar. What I told the person who answered the phone. "My PCP said to go to emergency room, I can't drive my husband is at work have brought my blood sugar down some on my own." She pretty much said could not tell me anything, and that was the end of the conversation. With this kind of compassion and empathy stay away from this place.

Rachel Ramshaw

We had an amazing experience here with the birth of our first born! Really wish that they more natural options but if you are wanting to have an epidural, etc then there isn't any better than this! We loved all of our nurses and doctors! They made everything so great for being first time parents. We are on a delayed vaccination plan and they didn't fight us about it as much we had anticipated which was nice. Awesome place to labor and deliver!

Thieves to Kings

Is this place seriously allowed to be caring for our loved ones??? Isn’t there government officials that monitor the treatment and care given by this nightmare so called hospital???

I had an allergic reaction to something and was going in to anaphylactic shock so the ambulance took me to St. Joseph per my request The ER staff was horrible they were talking loudly about a patient that had to have his socks removed and how gross it was, a female staff asked about maggots, another voice said at least the maggots would have cleaned them up The physician that gave me a choice to go home or stay told me those were my only options and didn’t have a third one(like maybe a classier hospital) my mouth still swollen that it split, tongue still swollen, none of the medications were working. I expressed my fear of going back in to shock, shift change as I heard the ER nurse telling someone on the phone that I WANTED to stay... because Everyone WANTS to STAY in the hospital

I want to start by saying I want to try and think the staff that saw me last night were doing the best they can, but my experience was very bad. I came in because the inquicker suggested I do for my symptoms. As my conditioned worsened, I managed enough energy to go tell the nurse I felt lightheaded, to which he snarkly replied "so go sit down". By then I was waiting for any kind of help. water, oxygen, getting my vitals checked, etc. as I began to have what they say was a panic attack, other guests called for the staff to try and help me. by this point I couldnt breathe, was sweating, and had basically gone numb. he said "he's fine" as i was losing sensation in my arms legs and face, and hyperventilating. He didnt even take time to look in my direction. thanks to the other GUESTS getting me water and helping me to breathe, I improved enough to not faint in the waiting room. when I finally got to the doctor, her decided to focus solely on my panic attack, and not the issues that made me come in. he basically said it was all anxiety, was very dismissive of what I was trying to say, kept cutting me off when i struglled to explain (just recovered from a panic attack, so couldnt speak the best) wrote a prescription for anxiety meds with two other women and his nurse there, he then returned and gave me a "dad talk" to basically say nothing was wrong with me, and I was discharged, feeling embarrassed and having the same symptoms I had that brought me in before the panic attack even happened. I understand that people come in for all kinds of reasons, and some seem silly to doctors, but aside from my nurse Tyler, every staff member I encountered was very rude and dismissive. Making someone feel like they are crazy, especially after a panic attack, and considering that this wasnt what brought me in, was very uncalled for.

I have suffered with sciatica for years. After my regular chiropractor was on leave for an injury I tried so many others, but they couldn't re-align me. The pain was so bad I ended up with no choice but to go to the ER. I have always thought well of St Joseph Hospital until my recent stay. -At first they were very attentive and thorough- managing my medications and pain, and conducting every test to get to the bottom of my pain. The doctors determined that my sciatica was severe and that I should go to a rehabilitation center to recover, but there wasn't a bed open that day at the one nearby. My insurance covered this, too. I was given morphine and Vicodin for the pain in addition to cymbalta and lyrica. I couldn't feel anything. Then, the physical therapist comes in with a walker, helps me up, and takes me around the hall. By the time I got in bed again I was in EXTEME pain, but because I was able to walk due to drugs numbing me, the therapist put on his report that I could go home. This messed everything up because the rehabilitation centers were afraid to take me. The next day he came back to walk me around the hall with the walker. He -Dan-, pushed me to walk further and further and I even had to sit down because I was in more pain. He even sarcastically said, "surprising how things can change in a day." Then, the social worker -Louis- came in to explain why I wouldn't be going to the rehabilitation center. She only wanted to follow guidelines, and when I asked her to help me -explaining how much medicines they gave me and I couldn't feel anything the day before, but now it was worse- she said "there's no way you could function on all that." But she seemed not to understand how it is for someone with chronic pain and who is used to pain medicine! When she was told this she became flustered and said she would contact other rehabilitation centers, but according to my insurance company she did not do it. Meanwhile the hospital readied my discharge papers even though I couldn't walk unassisted! Luckily I'm blessed to have family who could help, because otherwise the hospital would have sent me home, unable to drive, or go up and down steps, or even walk without a walker- and I'm not even that old- to be by myself in a tri-level house! The physical therapist and social workers were not my advocates, they acted like they only wanted to open up another bed. I am very upset that they seemed not to believe me -like a hospital is where I'd like to spend Memorial Day- that is a very wrong approach to treat any patient; but I had scans showing my tightened muscles and tendons, and recommendations from the physicians to go to a rehabilitation center. As I write this, I'm stuck in my bedroom, unable to function in any normal manner. Thanks, SSM St Joseph.

The nurses and doctors were nothing but compassionate and helpful here. A very serious situation with a family member happened and even though their ICU was full due to flu season, they treated the family member in the trauma room immediately. They were so kind and informative. They would routinely come check in on the patient and on me and my family to see if we needed anything. I was so impressed with the level of care here. When we were transferred to another hospital we were not treated as well as this. I immediately wanted to go back. I highly recommend this hospital.

Just Call Me Birdy

absolutely the shittiest place i have ever been my mother went in for chest problems and neck and back pain. we waited for 3 hrs and 30 mins and kept getting told the same thing. "The people that arive in the ambulance is more important". In my opinion that isnt right because i could be waiting for another 3 hrs not even knowing when she could be seen. I would love for the top person to contact me over that hospital.

Anthony Ross

My mother was wrongfully imprisoned in the psychiatric unit for 4 days. She now fears hospitals.

Sue Taylor

Love this hospital!! Very caring people!!

Tina Murphy

I've been here for over two hours on a apparently slow night. Head injury wirh quite a bit of blood. Wow! This is ridiculous! Two of my RN sites were ER ,nurses for years. This is completely subpar!

Overall excellent experience. My husband was taken to the emergency department yesterday morning with several symptoms of concern. He was seen and cared for immediately. I was greeted & taken back immediately upon my arrival as well. Each and every employee - from triage to discharge - was professional, thorough, attentive, efficient, kind and helpful to both of us. He received tests and treatment, and we were out within two hours. He's feeling well and doing great. Thank you!

Amanda Roberts

Have been here 4 times, an never waited less than 3 hours before I finally got up and left. Two of those times I was pregnant with pain and they still mad me wait in waiting room. WORST HOSPITAL IN ST LOUIS / ST CHARLES AREA. If you can at all avoid going here, DO! My husband came in with symptoms of a heart problem and they made him wait the same amount of time, to which we also left and went to another hospital. I went to mercy and I was seen, treated, and back home in 2.5 hours. Save yourself the headache and just avoid St Joes all together.

Michelle Duerlinger

I have never been so pissed off in my life at this ER l was in pain for 4 hours giving Nothing till I had to leave because I was so angry with the nurse and ER doctor. I told them my new GI doctor has no exchange which they basically told me that was not true. 4 hours later they came back saying that it's just going to voicemail and was thinking wondering why I have a different gi doctor well it's because your Gi doctor does not take my insurance. I would love to have you guys Gi doctor but don't have the money to pay him. Was left in pain for over 4 hours and nurse was a straight ass. They were not busy I can hear them laughing and playing on there cellphone each time I wanted my nurse l had to wait even though l can hear them talking and laughing. I finally went off on them because I was in so much pain. I want to take this to the board this was nothing but b.s.

Billy Terbrock

My mom went to this hospital after St Joe's hospital in Lake St Louis didn't have enough room for her in the ICU because she breathed in mold and damaged her lungs. She was in the ICU for 29 days. The day she died the nurse came back with the cat scan results and stated that she had a blood clot that was formed in her lungs and transferred over to her heart even though we asked for the c scan results many times and they said "they didn't have it yet." Turned out she had a mold fungus called Asphergillis which caused her to have Asphergillosis. So I would never recommend this hospital for people who have any type of lung disease. The doctors and nurses didn't do a very good job in trying to keep her alive and never tried to help her fight off the mold fungus.

Mary Federle

Denise Gearhart

Was taken by ambulance there with severe pain and vomiting. My entire visit was basically me pressing the nurse call button asking if I could please have all the things the doctor ordered for me over and hour and a half ago but I guess all the nurses are too busy socializing rather than taking care of patients.

Samantha Kelley

The people at this hospital are extremely rude. Not so much the nurses. But the front desk, and the security guards are extremely rude. Also, my fiancé came in with serious pain, where he was crying, and he has a high pain tolerance, and they didn't address it for a good 20-30 mins, even when we asked if he could have something for pain. theu are just really rude and I did not appreciate my service.

Was injured at a local retailer in St. Charles area and was told to go to the ER at this place which was only like 4 to 5 minutes from this hospital. Was bleeding and needed stiches. When we arrived it was around 11:45 am and they came in 3 different times to explain why they couldn't get more people moving through..they didnt have enough staff the rooms were full... so 4 hours later still hadn't seen anyone... we decided to leave!!! There were several people who walked out besides us!! We were from out of town... still had to drive 8 hours home!!! OMG....... terrible place!!!

They are doing a great job of taking care of my mom. Thanks

This place is great, I'm not sure what the guy below is saying. St Joseph follows moral and ethical practices and would not "Imprison" anyone period. They will however place someone in the Psychiatric unit if they have reason to do so for their own safety and the safety of other patients. With my experience they have cared for close friends, family and even myself and I have not a bad thing to say, every visit I've had has been pretty straight forward and great. I'm definitely coming back when needed.

Mary Campbell

so my mother went into the emergency room tonight because she has a bad abcess in her upper mouth. my mother has had open heart surgery in 2011. the first time she went to this hospital about 2 months ago she received a prescription for ultram or known as tramadol well I went to the pharmacy and the pharmacist comes to the counter to tell me they wont fill it because my mother is epileptic and this medication can cause seizures so tonight she was in alot of pain she goes into the emergency room with the list of medications she is currently taking and she tells them the tylanol with codeine and ibuprofen arent working she needs something stonger... which in any other case they pass out pain pills like candy... they treat her keep her in the back almost 4 hours to send her home with the same medications the doctor gives her 800miligrams of ibuprofen and the pharmacy again wont fill it because she has 120 of them at home that we just filled.... the reason im making this review is to show that good upstanding people that go into this emergency room do not get any kind of pain medications but if you are a drug addicit going in for your normal every 3 week visit you will get anything from oxicoton to vicodin its comp[lete crap they treat normal people like crap and help the dope addicits

My mother was recently admitted and was in the ICU for almost a week. She was on a ventilator during that time and completely sedated. After the ventilator was removed and she woke up she was still very confused and unable to hear anything. Just after two days of the vent being removed they moved her to a medical floor, which is to be expected. But after only being on the medical floor for less than 24hrs she was discharged home, still confused and unable to hear. I had called the nurse taking care of her because the nurse and my mom had called my 12 year old daughter telling her that my mom needed to be picked up, my daughter was confused and worried so I called to verify that she was really being sent home. The nurse seemed extremely rushed and told me she was discharged and was going to walk home if no one came to get her. I live 45mins away and asked the nurse to try to tell my mom that it would be a little while before I could get there but not to walk, the nurse said “it’s pointl trying to talk to her she won’t understand, she cannot hear anything “ to which I said so why is she being discharged home, she then said “she just walked down to the lobby “ and hung up. My father left work which is closer to go get my mom and when he got there she was sitting alone in the lobby of the hospital! I worked as a tech for 7 years and we were never allowed to let a patient walk out or leave them sitting alone in the lobby, it shows no compassion. And for someone who had no hearing or who was confused to be left alone like that with no phone or anything is ridiculous. What if she would have walked away from the hospital and gotten hurt?? Or lost? I do not understand their reasoning for letting her go. Then she was sent home with no antibiotics for her pneumonia. I’m very concerned about the negligent of this hospital.

The beds stuck I would rather sleep on the floor.. The nurses were amazing the 2 stars is simply about the comfort. The nurses get 5 stars.

My husband had back surgery and had a reaction to medication, the staff was right on top of everything and did an outstanding job. There was no prior knowledge of any adverse reactions to anything in his history. Everyone asked at numerous times and each new person to see him had asked. thank you 6th floor nursing staff.

Extremely rude at the front desk. I took my 12 weeks pregnant wife there because she was warm and she vomited and she had flu. Front desk said she don't have a fever at all and it doesn't seem that she has a flu. So they made us wait in the waiting room for about 2 hours claiming there were no empty beds. Also she claimed that all the hospitals around the area are extremely busy which I don't know how she found out and I didn't ask her about that. After waiting for about two hours I decided to take my wife to urgent care instead so I we were getting in the car the front desk lady came out screaming at us " SIR IF YOU WANT TO LEAVE YOU CAN BUT YOU HAVE TO LET ME KNOW FIRST SO I CAB CROSS YOUR NAME FROM THE BOARD". We went to urgent care and my wife was diagnosed with the following: Fever, flu, and raspitory infection. Again my wife was 12 weeks pregnant.

DONT GO HERE FOR SURGERY!!!! I had a horrible experience today and they were unwilling to even speak to me about it without arguing with me over semantics. These people are very unprofessional and have no bedside manner.

Lovely hospital when I had my daughter.

Ashley Yingst

The only reason it got a 1 is because I can't say no.

Thirty eight years ago almost to the day, I had my son there. I was a young mom.. with very little money, I had to go through the clinic. I never met the doctor who performed my c-section and he made my incision from my belly button down. I wasn't impressed but I figured it was whatever the dr. Was comfortable with. Fast forward...9 months ago, my sister lost her life in this hospital. It wasn't supposed to happen. I'm angry. I'm hurt, devastated. There should have been more time. I shouldn't have lost my sister that day. All due to negligence. This hurts my heart so much. I watched her take her last breath.

Nathan Wesche

Beautiful hospital with an attentive staff.

John Dano

I can't stand the house supervisor Jennifer . She doesn't have good bed side manners. The hospital needs to let her go....

Doctors will not prescribe pain medications and report you are drugs seeking. I have suffered from severe pain from my neck, back, and chest. all started when i had a pacemaker implanted due to a botched ablation for WPW. Dr. Quotomonti performed the ablation and left my heart untreated for 9 months. after the surgury my heart rate was 28 to 30 beats per minute. She said I was cured of WPW I went to her for a 2cd opinion and I asked her not to due an ablation that i only wanted a second opinion. I woke up with horrible pain and after several emergency room admissions, Dr. Glascock put in a pacemaker. Dr. Glascock is a good doctor; however, they will not prescribe pain medication. Maybe they think I seek pain/narcotic medications or that it is harmful to my health. I would rather risk the pain medicine for time off my life than to suffer daily to insanity. I invite any of them to live with me for a few days and they would be more compassionate. In addition, my wife, and my children have suffered from seeing me in so much pain. They just think people are "medication seeking" and it is a hassle to express the grief it has and is causing me. I have kept all my doctors in the SSM system for the continuum of care however, they will just let you suffer in spite of multiple ER visits for pain. It would be easier to use alcohol or street drugs; however, I will not break the law and or use alcohol for pain because alcohol causes me too many side effects. just putting this out there. Think what you want but I am well educated and schooled on the subject of addiction. I also have a degree in psychology and a minor in business administration from UMSL as well as an honor student and a member of PSI Chi. I plan on having a grievance with the administration and consider suing them for the anguish the pain has caused me and my family. I hope i'm an isolated incident and no one else had had to suffer the anguish my family and I have experienced. Peace and god bless you all who read this.

My mom had an accident Monday evening causing a brain bleed that will take her life. St. Joe Hospital staff is helping her and us through this very difficult time. The staff have been ABSOLUTELY fantastic. In all my years of visiting other hospitals, I have never seen this quality of care. Thank you for valuing my mother and our family at this time!

Kurt Henke

Mom had a stroke and is unlikely to recover. We arrived through the ER and they were thoroughly caring. Mom was moved upstairs for palliative care. We have had nothing but exceptional caring. First and foremost, mom is made comfortable. My sisters and I are also being cared for and that is appreciated. It’s a rough time but St. Joseph’s has made it better.

Amy Pieper

I went in on a Monday evening and was quickly taken back for blood work and urine sample. The front desk ladies were very nice and quick to get my information. Once in a room they got me started on fluids and shortly after I had a cat-scan performed. The staff were very professional, attentive, and helpful in explaining what was happening to me. I was admitted to the hospital and hardly had to wait to get me in my room. Thank you SSM staff for all you did. By the way- I had gone to Urgent Care the day before and they claimed it was a UTI and gave me fluids and sent me on my way. It was not!

Mike Overbeck

Very nice staff, fast service 30 minutes in and out

Victoria Burris

The doctors are great and nurses are great. All other parts are trash. I’ve had multiple issues with the billing system, either not receiving statements or being penalized because I call when I receive a statement but it’s too late when I just received the statement. Customer service when I call in has always been rude and refuses to help. Im canceling all future appointments through this organization and am currently looking for ways to even further escalate the situation because what they’ve put me through the last 6 months is unprofessional and wrong. Just one instance, sending me to collections after I’ve made steady payments every month and refusing to help me when I call in about their notice. I received a notice yesterday in my mail, their offices were closed, so I called this morning, and I had until yesterday. If you have a choice, pick a different facility to throw your hard earned money at, they have no respect and are terribly organized.

Jonathan McCutchen

The ER there is a joke. My ankle is broken they don't ask anything. They don't care if you are in a little or a lot of pain because they don't ask. I was asked do you have crutches. I said yes, the doc said use those, there isn't anything else we can do for you here. You are just a dollar sign to this hospital.

Pamela Upton

My doctor told me to come to emergency dept because my blood sugars were almost 400 and have been for a few weeks. Got to St. Joseph at 6:10 p.m. not had dinner or anything to eat since 11:45 a.m. I had gone to hospitals online put name on list to hold place. Was suppose to be 6:15 p.m. When arrived and triage done, blood pressure was 153/99, blood sugar at 359. 7:50 p.m., 2 people came in, signed in but triage not done. Told to sit and wait. Within 15 minutes triage done for them and sent straight back. Yet here I still wait 8:16 and still not seen. Worst Emergency Services of any hospital I've ever been in. Only gave it 2 stars because it was clean.

James Williams

We where admitted pretty quick everyone is friendly but the tv in the room is broke and not a single Kleenex anywhere what hospital doesnt have Kleenex oit everywhere

Elyse Coffey-Wick

A complete nightmare of a hospital. We had the rudest, meanest, most disrespectful nurse I have ever dealt in my life. They made our situation 1000000X worse. No compassion shown by nurse or or the doctors. Kept getting different answers from different people. Not the first bad experience I've had here. Once brought my pregnant sister to TO ER bc she was bleeding non stop and they accused us of wanting an abortion!!!!!! Unreal!!!! Go to a MERCY HOSPITAL if you can!!!! Just NEVER go here! Please save yourself the pain!!!

Craig Wertheimer

Waited 2.5 hrs to be told that I needed to go to a dentist and they weren't going to do anything for me doctor seemed annoyed when I tried to tell him the problem and cut me off.

E B

I had a very positive overnight stay. The Doctors were thorough and caring. The Techs who did various tests were friendly and polite. I felt like I received great care.

Rachel Valentine

I cannot believe the level of bedside manner that does NOT exist in this place. I was seen very quickly in the ER to get a room in the ER, but things were down hill from there. I was dehydrated and waited two and a half hours for IV fluids. I asked for my nurse twice in 3 hours and she never showed. After a major spill of blood coming out of my arm did other staff actually get involved...still not my nurse. When trying to ask for assistance, a black female staff sitting directly in front of me completely ignored me. When someone else came to assist me only then did she look over and just stared and listened to my conversation with the other staff.

Nice hospital

The staff here were below average and their lack of communication was so frustrating! The first time I had to get any imaging done and I was told that I haven't hit my deductible so I'd have to pay so much out of pocket and I could pay now. So I did. Then I get hit with ANOTHER bill from an outside company and when I call about it they said that their employee at registration should have told me and they must have used the wrong verbiage. Incompetent and rude. Do NOT go here if you can help it and if you loved your family, choose somewhere else for them to go!

Jervis Atagana

Care here is not good.

Very rude on the phone. I felt as if I was a complete burden to deal with.

Second SSM hospital ive been to and it is another insult to SSM and IM DONE WITH ALL SSM HOSPITALS. Nurses are rude. And even if you try to talk to other staff about a particular one they don’t listen or say anything to you or the coworker. In fact all they do at the nurses station is laugh at patients who are really having a hard time. SOmetimes they don’t even put on gown and gloves before going into someone’s room who requires them!!! IS THIS A HOSPITAL OR A PLACE WHERE HEALTHY PEOPLE GO TO GET SICK???? Terrible Terrible place no one cares they are ALL obviously there just for money one staff member even told me they don’t get paid for training people. I don’t know policy but we were always trained in my career way back when!!! If I was that person I’d be filing a lawsuit!!!!!

My Girlfriend-bestfriend was taken by Ambulance to this hospital for detox from alcohol on 7-28-17. She suffers from alcoholism. A employee hired by the hospital and his title is unclear right now but I'm under the impression he was a EMT and his name is Calvin violated hospital patient staff interaction polices, hospital protocol for care, and possible other health care patient laws. Upon my girlfriend's release she had immediately crossed paths with Calvin. Calvin stated are you out here harrasing people. The hospital employee Calvin from the ER then gave her 20 dollers for alcohol and cigs and gave her a ride in his car. Calvin the ER staff then had a conversation with her about himself being a virgin. On top of all this Calvin also gave his cell phone number to my girlfriend. When I called the hospital to make a complaint a women Laura awnsered the phone in ER and i told her the situation and I wanted to file a formal complaint. Waited on hold until Calvin subject involved answered and said he was sorry. Calvin Said I'll do anything to make this go away. Even telling me I'd like to leave work right now to meet you and I'll do anything to fix this! HOSPITAL STAFF Steven - Head charge nurse in ER room took my complaint on 7-29-17 the next day forwarded information to hospital administration and said Calvin is on administrative leave pending the investigation. The hospital is aware I have evidence of this to be 100% true and accurate. I have verification of hospital staff member Calvin's cellphone number, vehicle identifiers, and other pertinent information to verify accuracy of truth. I'm absolutely shocked by Emergancy room Hospital staff Calvin's behavior!

My father is there currently for neck surgery after a different facility botched his treatment. The staff on the 6th floor couldn't provide any better service. After surgery , my father , being hyper active toward anesthesia and pain killers , was struggling breathing. They had him on an alert monitor to let us know if his breathing shallowed, explained the possibilities to us and checked every 15 minutes. When we notified them his breathing wasn't right and he wasnt fully responding to our waking calls , half the staff showed up to address it. They relieved him of the affects with Narcan , checked him then readjusted his medication to his tolerance from scratch. They followed up both by checking on him frequently and inquiring of us what the change had been , and made sure he was having no further issues or unnecessary discomfort. The therapist and nurse both were informed and took the situation into consideration in both their checks and actions. I'd go there any time. Thanks to all the "L" crew (all their names began with "L" on that nursing shift for 637).

Wish I could leave half a star. They moved my appointment and didn't fell the need to call me and let me know

I'm actually sitting here at the hospital while my daughter is now resting comfortably. At 9'years old ahh child is scared when they hurt, don't feel good ect...add autism in that mix and a trip to the er, well that can sure make things go south quickly. HOWEVER, the doctors and staff here are fantastic. Explained everything they were doing to her and she was so proud of herself for getting that "needle" without any problems. Your staff and doctor helped her believe in herself. Then comes CALVIN, HE IS AMAZING! He's truly a gift to the world. Thank you CALVIN for helping charley get through this and making her forget she was even at the hospital. I know people whom which you cross paths with will feel the same way. Both doctors were great. Dr Reed and Dr yerski, top notch. Nurse Lauren,You were fantastic as well. Bless all of you for your kindness and compassion . Thank you all, be blessed The Meier family

It was an easy choice delivering our baby at this hospital. The staff was amazing, caring, kind, gentle with myself and the baby. The nurses took the time to take care of our family as well as us. Thank you, St. Joseph Staff!

They treated my hudband terribly!! Put him in a room gave him some meds never saw anyone after that for 2 hours. His IV came out and he bled all over everything and meanwhile the IV fluid is spilling all over the floor. I told someone but no one ever came to fix it. I had to figure it out myself and hold his arm with a paper towel to stop the bleeding. The nurses did not want to be bothered and were very snippy and rude!! The entire time he is rolling around with extreme nasua and pain. They plainly just didnt care. Mayb because my husband is black with no insurance or some other reason. Not sure. This lack of treatment took place on the over shift on 1/25 at 12:30a. So if any of the staff from that night read this.. shame in you! You are there to help people and treat them with dignity and respect! Its your job! If you cant do that get a different job! This includes the doctor who was just as bad as the other 2 nurses we delt with. But i will say the second nurse did try but when your surrounded by negative people in a work environment its hard to do your job correctly and with a positive attitude. We left around 3a not feeling any better then when he came in. Everyone watched us as we left snickering. No one offered to help me get him out of there. The young lady at the front was very nice she helped us with a wheel chair and took him to the car. She was the only nice person there. I will be calling management this morning.

I got in an auto accident that was not my fault. Medical bills start coming in. I call to add my auto insurance as a secondary insurance and they refused. They knew it was an auto accident when they registered me. So much for caring! Their billing practices are scary. I had cancer and was on my way to get a CT scan and their billing department called me. They were trying to get me to prepay before I even had the scan or have received an itemized bill. They care all right. About money!

Rochelle Weinstein

Nursing staff is terrible I would not wish my worse friend to have to go there.

Theresa Giancola

Arrived in the morning and five hours later we are still sitting in the emergency room waiting room. Two others having been waiting just as long. Never again! I recommend going elsewhere if you want even a modicum of care! So sad.

Edivaldo Chavez

Got charged $800 for a little bump in finger. The nurse didn't even touch the finger because she felt scared.

Glenn Richter

Although my injury was not life threatening, I did need emergency treatment. The staff was friendly, competent, efficient and caring. My injury was assessed and treated and I was on my way in less than one hour. Mary R. 11/30/13

My third son was born here. One of his Doctors told me that he would get bullied in school because he wasn't circumsized. Could not believe she said that to me.

Worst hospital experience I’ve ever encountered. Very rude and unprofessional staff. I would never recommend this hospital for any type of treatment.

I was in the ER on Christmas Eve. I waited over 2 hours to be seen. I realize probably a skeleton crew. When I got to my room, the receptionist, a male, holds up a gown and tells me to undress and put the gown on. He holds it up over his face, as if I am to undress with him in the room. WHAT? I'm sick so I start to do this then realize NO! I ask him why he is in the room and he says "oh I can leave". I never saw him again. I want to talk to SSM regarding this. I called them and they tell me I can only talk to the lead about this. Doesn't SSM have a patient complaint person? I won't go back to SSM knowing they have no one for me to talk to about this.
