Great hospital! This is my second stay here due to my pregnancies . The whole staff was so sweet to my husband and I. They go above and beyond to make sure mommy daddy and baby are comfy while they’re here. The food from the cafeteria is also good, they made sure my husband received lunch also while here in the suits. The nurses are so kind! Thank you again and again! The best place to have your baby or babies! Great job ladies!

The healthcare in this state is pitiful. This hospital is the worst of them all. It was dirty and staff was definitely not competent NP, RN. If you lack the competency to do your job, then maybe you should look for something a little easier for yourself..

Beth Pucklitsch

Went to ER at 8 in the evening, we were discharged by 9:33. Excellent. Efficient.

Colleen Freeman

Mammography suites very well run. Professional, efficient, and NOT painful.

Wish i could do zero stars. Last night i took my 1 year old. The lady at the window who checked us in was super sweet and nice, we got called back and it went down hill. My son was running 103 fever at home, tylneol wasnt getting it down and he wouldnt take his bottle. The guy nurse took his temp under his arm it was 99.2 i KNEW that was not correct i even said this isnt right and hes super hot the rn rolled her eyes at me and said well do it in his bottom, she did it and surely enough it was 103. She left the room, doctor came in and said it looked like he was fighting a nasty infection. He never checked his ears or throat just checked his lungs said they sounded clear but did do a chest xray to make sure. I never saw the two rude nurses who took us to the room, i never saw thr doctor again. A very nice gentleman came in and gave us our discharge papers. We left with nothing but discharged papers. They didnt come re check his temp, oxygen level or BP (which was elevated) i am very much disappointed. This hospital use to be amazing and i swore to it. But now, ill never step foot back in it and never recommend it to anybody! Not for a child at least.

Catrinia Barnes

If I could have given them -5 stars I would have. The staff there are so rude and uncaring it's ridiculous. I had to take my child to another hospital to receive the right diagnose. I come to learn from others also other medical staff that they are considered a bandaid hospital. I will NEVER GO THERE AGAIN!!

The proffessionalism and customer service in this place is god awful! The nurses who call you to the back from the waiting area don't smile or greet you. They treat you like you're just another number. On top of all that they are extremely slow once they call you back to your room. I just cant do this hospital. I'd rather deal with St. Dominics or the Baptist any day.

I went into the er blood sugar 973. The doctor gave me two bags of fluid and steady gives me regular insulin in my arm. The doctor sent me home with a sugar of 486. So I left went to another hospital where they put me in icu. I wouldn't recommend my dog coming to place unless you're ready to die!!!!!!

Staff was excellent however account representatives obviously dont like their jobs because I've been on the phone waiting for 30 minutes for one to answer my call. Also the account department cant get it together either for when I signed in for surgery I signed for drafts to be taken out of my account, yet here I am trying to figure out why they are sending letter of action to be taken when last payment was debited June 5th. They need to get themselves on the same program.

Allison Washington

River Oaks is a good hospital, but they don't have good communication when it comes to billing and receiving funds. I had to call on 3 occasions to ask them to credit my billing statement with checks that have been cashed by them, but the payment wasn't credited. On another occasion, they credited the wrong account with my money then put it in collections because they are saying I didn't pay! HORRIBLE!!!

My wife went in for uncontrolled bleeding they sent her home went to st Dominic's she was admitted and had surgery same day DONT GO TO MERIT HEALTH

My experience at this hospital is disgusting.. There was dry blood on the walls in room #10. There was also needle caps all over the floor. I came in to get my throat looked at and a nurse practitioner came in instead of a doctor.. Then another nurse came to to swab my throat and he barely touched my throat he rubbed by tounge. The nurse practitioner then came back into the room to look at my ears and throat and used the same exact piece and did not clean the light guard. This has truly been the worst experience i have ever encountered in a hospital.

Went into preterm labor @ 26 weeks. Could have not been treated better. All of the nurses were so kind to me. My son was in the NICU for 2 months. Best care. not one complaint.

My 95 year old mother was taken to River Oaks ER by ambulance, where the hospital admitted her, on Saturday night, August 11, 2018. She had fallen at home and both arms and her left leg/ankle were extremely painful. The ladies at the admission desk were very kind and helpful. However once I got back to the room where they had Mother, things did not go so well. Mother was crying out in pain with her left ankle and both arms. They did x-rays and came back to tell us the ankle and wrists were only sprained. They put a brace on her leg, with Mother actually screaming in pain the entire time! Then the nurse helped her into a wheelchair to go to the bathroom as they were releasing her to go home with me. She was still screaming in pain and could not put any weight on her left leg! I told them I could not lift her and she certainly couldn't put any weight on her left ankle. I asked why they couldn't keep her to make sure everything was okay. The nurse said the doctor didn't think it was necessary (something along that line). This 95 year old woman suffered horribly from Saturday night at 11:00 pm when the hospital released her, until Monday morning around 9:30 am. I was able to get her in Capital Ortho on Monday, where they determined her ankle was indeed broken!!!!! No one from the hospital has bothered calling to check on her to see How she is doing!! I am extremely upset with River Oaks because of the way they treated her and did not take into consideration, her pain or our request to keep her! I would not go to this hospital if you think you might have a broken bone, as they apparently can't read x-rays, nor do they care about the pain of their patients!

Morning registration was somewhat late, slow, unorganized??? I dont know which. I had previously registered and thought the checkin was not well organized. But once I got to Same Day Surgery everything from that point on was amazing care. The nurses, anesthesia, lab, cna, environmental staff... were all great. The nurse manager even stopped by to check on me. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thank you.

I really don't even want to give them 1 star. The front desk people are absolutely amazing but the doctor (I think his name was John) he was absolutely TERRIBLE!! My daughter who is 1 1/2 was running a 104 fever and right before we got there I gave her Tylenol so it was down. He came in looked at her ears and listened to her and said "She looks fine I'd give her some allergy meds" (we were out of town and I took her to the ER and they swabbed her for strep and it came back negative) i asked him to look in her throat again because she was really horse and wouldn't drink anything and he said since it was 2 days ago nothing could have happened during that time period and he didn't want to bother her. I talked to the administration and she was very rude to and said we "just walked out" well of course we did because they were about to discharge her and wasn't gonna do anything! He as terrible. Last year he was her doctor and she was 6 months old and he wouldn't do anything till I demanded him to take blood tests and it came back she had the flu and she was admitted to the hosptial for 3 days after I had been in there for weeks trying to figure out what was wrong. I reported him and nothing happened.

Jennifer Sierra

Dr. Nichols is a great Doctor! (ER) He was very caring to his patients. He asked me if I was ok? Then I heard him asking other patients the same thing. He seemed as if he had a heart for his patients as any Doctor should!

The only reason I'm giving 3 stars is due to the quickness of being seen, and the check in lady and nurses. The doctor on night shift (10/23/16) is really in the wrong profession. J. Schwanbeck has the absolute worst bedside manner of any physician I've ever seen, and I've worked for doctors for the past 11 years!!! He has no compassion at all. I went in due to an infected tooth, until I can see my dentist. He literally came in, asked what the problem was, looked in my mouth, THEN POKED MY SWOLLEN FACE, and said "yeah, that's infected"!!! He walked out & I never saw him again. Had to ask for a shot for pain (Toradol) as he was just going to give me a script. I guess he's never had a toothache!!! This isn't the first time I've seen him behave badly. I escorted my sister once, who is chronic pain sufferer, to this er, and he was on call. Actually told her they had patients in "real pain"......I was stunned by his demeanor. I did get a shot, after asking, thank GOD, as this pain was excruciating. I will never see him again, if I, can help it. I very rarely go to the er, and I will not go back to this one, solely because of this doctor who is very uncaring, obviously judgemental, and basically a jerk. Find a new career, sir. Perhaps one where you have no contact with actual human beings.

Laura Griffith

Been here over 4 hours & haven’t seen the doctor for my 7 year old son! Worst experience ever!

Jonathan Roberts

I brought my sister here she said she was losing her eyesight in one eye and that it hurt really bad they did not do anything but prescribe her medicine I took her to the University and she ended up having cancer and lost one of her eyes. I took my girlfriend here and she had the same doctor he had rude "humor" and it was not something to be joking about and they just seemed careless and when they came back everything was fine but her blood sugar was high and they did not even tell her what it was.

The wait time is always less than 30 minutes. The entire staff - doctors, nurses, intake personnel - are always caring and courteous.

Marilyn Clark

Nurses were nice and did a amazing job. The only down fall was the food. My husband is not a picky eater but he said it was horrible.

Loretta Riley

Place is a rip off. That's probably why insurance company's charge so much. Got 10 small stiches and cost me over 7,000. Go the extra distance and get to regular hospital. Beware

Worst Ever EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!!

This hospital was not helpful nor cooperative. They have no concern for your needs and charge way too much for "presumptuous" service. I've even contacted corporate offices and was hung up on. AVOID AT ALL COST.

Kayla Hodum

Not enough room to share my experience. If you want to be misdiagnosed, have unconcerned staff, and sent home with a guess with no tests go here. If you want to die, go here. Told I had gastritis. Went to Baptist the next morning and galbladder removed within hours. 5 gallstones marble size. Infected and inflamed severely.

Rose Montgomery

Alisa Archie

My experience at the hospital was wonderful. I had insurance and it paid almost all of the bill. I ended up having to pay $2700.00 out of pocket. MY surgery was February 25, 2013. In September I still owed $900.00. They turned it over to a collection agency. From Feb. to Sept. I had to have paid something for the bill to go from $2700 down to $900. I was told because I did not call and set up a payment plan. WOW. They had collected $1800.00 then turned it over to collection agency. So not appreciate that.

Natasha Zinda

My mother was treated terribly by dr mcintosh. We filed a complaint but i was absolutely disgusted and appalled by his behavior . He rolled his eyes...mocked my mom once he left the room..and never once spoke to her face he addressed the back of her head. I would never take another family member there.

Chris Holbrook

Except for the first young white nurse who took my wife's vitals, it was a great experience. She needed 4 bags of blood and then surgery. Waited at University of Mississippi ER for 7 hours without getting out of the waiting room. This place got her in immediately because of how sick she was. Everyone was wonderful!! Highly recommend

They get you in fast but they also rush you back out the door as fast as possible. The er staff treats your symptoms without looking for the underlying cause. My son has been there twice this week and both times they put in an iv, gave him meds, waited about half an hour and sent him home. It's the medical equivalent of a fast food place. Oh and we still don't know what's wrong with my son. I would definitely recommend a different hospital if you actually want a diagnosis and correct treatment for said diagnosis.

Jeanette Stewart

My Dr. ordered 4 hours of tests to be done at River Oakes; a couple were scary and painful. I dreaded them. The staff, from the time I walked in the door, were friendly, kind, compassionate, encouraging, and professional. They walked me from one test location to the next and passed me off to a kind smiling staff member. I never had to wait long between test. They explained everything being done and why it was being done to aid in my Drs. evaluation for my treatment. I noticed others being tested were being treated as I was. The test I expected to be 9-10 pain level was only 3-4 and the technician asked me questions about my Grands during test to get my mind off of it. Praise the Lord.

Charles Humphrey

These guys absolutely nailed the birth of our 4th child. The nurses were professional and personable and the Dr.'s were very helpful. Both the delivery and recovery rooms were excellent and spacious. If we have a 5th, it will most definitely be here!!!

I went to the er disorentiented and in pain. They pressed on my stomach which I told them it was painful and hurt. Then they started to give me fluids. Took my blood and urine. When she put my iv in the fluid from the bag was dripping into the bed until she fixed it. They acted like they didnt really care. Have me some Tylenol got my fever down to 99 and have gave me my discharge papers. Needless to say I'm still in pain they didn't resolve anything other than me being dehydrated and a headache.

Had my daughter here last year. All of the nurses were AMAZING! I was completely heart broken that I had to have a c section but the nurses assured me it would be fine. Nursery nurses were beyond amazing! Postpartum was excellent! Lacation consultant Ms Jean was the best! Best experience ever!

My mom had major back surgery here & all the nurses we encountered was evil. Nurse Dorothy & Wendy were both very nasty to her. They always gave her smart remarks when she called for them. Wendy WOULD NOT help her in the bed nor would she bring her her lunch! I am so disappointed and I would not recommend a dog to be seen at this hospital!

Esthella Olvera

Slow, apathetic ER. None of our questions got answered and when we finally left she didn’t feel any better or have any idea what was wrong with her. “Doctor” came in once for 5 minutes and was never seen again. They made sure they got paid though. Avoid this ER go to a real ER like the Baptist.

Tracey Wright

I recently came from surgery. I asked the nurse to bring me some items and nurse not doing her job. The worst hospital I was ever admitted too. I know you don't have to kiss behind but the nurses don't speak or talk to the patients at all. It made me feel very unwelcoming and if something go wrong, I will never come back. Advise others also! I notice the nurse station all the white set on one side and all the black to the other side. I see a lot of division there. During the time for discharged, I called for to leave. I mean no one from that station got off their butts to bring me a wheelchair. You know who had to bring me a wheelchair, my nephew. Then, as were leaving like I said, right there you can see all of them sitting on their butts. Very unprofessional, not on task, disrespectful, very unfriendly...

Janet West

They don't really deserve a 1 star. Don't go there if you have blood clots. They let you leave without any help at all!!

I would give them a minus five if it were possible. I had the unfortunate to stay at their hospital. It was the worst place I have had to stay in my life. I am not now or ever been a danger to myself or anyone else. They kept me tied down to the bed by my hands and feet. I repeatedly told them to let me go. Did not matter. I tried be obnoxious and they said they were going to call the police. I told them I wanted them to because I knew that holding me against my will and tying me down was illegal. They lost all of my belongings that I had brought with me. My billfold, insurance cards, medicine, license, laptop, tablet, clothes, and eye glasses to name a few. I wouldn't take an animal there. Save your family from them and trust nothing they say or do. I ended in my local hospital when I returned home due to them making me so sick. It was so traumatic I refuse to go anywhere but home now. I have reached out to them and surprise they won't return my calls.

If could give no stars I would. First the facility is not very sanitary. My grandmother was there for 3 days and they swept the floor once as never cleaned the bathroom or changed the bed linens.. The doctors and PT's were okay but the nurses were horrible and very rude. Especially Nurse Inez on the 4th floor, she needs to retire or get some etiquette classes. My grandmother was just discharged from here and I will make sure she never returns. As a fellow medical professional I was appalled at the lack of care/ concern nurse Inez demonstrated. I hope she gets a nurse just like herself one day. Ignorant, rude, and lazy. I hope her next patient has a better experience.

The staff as you check in to the ER completely lacks empathy or compassion. In an emergency families are worried and they have consistently flexed their authority and smirk with condescending attitudes. My elderly mother fell breaking her leg and came by ambulance and we brought my elderly father who is recovering from a stroke. He wanted to sit with her and the Er staff said only one adult. Not the medical staff but the check in staff. We take care of them so we need to be in there to hear what the doctor says. They said only the nurse can approve it but refused to call back there. They said I could ask when I got back but my father was back there and he can’t get around so we were stuck in the waiting room Knowing nothing about her care and he can’t remember anything to tell us. The ER women didn’t care and that smug look on their face told me they enjoyed acting that way. This behavior has gone on every time we have used this ER and we will never use them again. We will drive further to Baptist from now on because what is the point in seeking care for elderly parents if you’re not allowed to go back and listen to what is needed?! Your ER check in staff needs training on empathy and compassion!!!

I had surgery in this hospital in 2014. After surgery they couldn't run me out of the room fast enough.we had a 70 mile drive home.on the way home I developed lot of swelling on my surgery area ,which cause nothing but problems for me ever since. Avoid this place if you have choice. Also I want to mention my Dr name was Dr patterson.

Mary Mcwhorter

Had a total hip replacement done just last week. The staff was totally supportive and efficient. I was treated with great care and was discharged within 48hours as confident in my recovery. Very positive experience! Great nurses, therapists, dietitians, everyone I came in contact was friendly and professional. Anyone wanting to improve the quality of their lives with this type of surgery, I highly recommend it! Thank you River Oaks for making a scary life event into something pleasant.

Jennifer Vandevere

I really don't even give them one star!!!!! Terrible e.r. visit for my 8yr old.

Gaming_Nerd Yt

Dr. Swanback is the worst! I went in with a bad allergic reaction. He did nothing to stop it! He was rude, uncaring, just an all around jerk. The nurses were, too, except for the charge nurse and one other nurse. Said they have constant complaints about Swanback. Had to go to another ER for treatment - for an allergic reaction! I could have died! I had to be admitted to the hospital for three days! Never will I use the ER at River Oaks again!

My friend had a kidney and mass around the kidney removed here the doctor was very good and very good bed side manor and so was his staff

Terrible service.. Been here for 3 hours and still haven't seen a doctor. I'm in pain and when I called the desk to ask when the doctor was coming she said "okay." And hung up. Rude much??????

I'll have to give them a three only based off the fact they're sooooo nosey here. I can't sleep due to all the noise. I mean gosh here I am on the third floor ob postpartum section! And lord have mercy the people on the fourth floor sound like they're building and breaking down something! Walls are too thin I can hear the person coughing above me.... like really?! Sounds like a train above and behind my room seriously. Other than that the staff here has been outstanding. Very caring and professional staff! The noise is my only complaint other than that I would give them a five.

Went in this past Friday with my 8 week old son who had a fever. It was 3am and we went to the ER. I had Dr Ferris who was pretty decent, but the nurses were awful, Brittany was one of their names, can't recall the other. They blew 2 veins in my baby's foot and hand trying to get an IV in him. Although he was still eating normally despite his fever. I threw a fit when they weren't planning on stopping after the second failed attempt. So then they admitted us to the hospital and the pediatric nurse there, Daniel, did an excellent job getting us set up.. then the pediatric "doctor", who is an absolute quack comes in. She wants the baby to be given strong antibiotics although 5 hours later, they still can find nothing wrong with him and his fever has broken. Her name is April Herderman, and she doesn't deserve the title of Dr in my opinion. She says we need to stay until Sunday so he can get a full round of these antibiotics. ALTHOUGH HIS FEVER IS BROKEN AND HE IS MUCH BETTER ALREADY. I told them I wanted to leave and have my baby taken to another hospital, and she threatens to call DHS.. because I didn't agree with her ignorant opinion. I am home now finally.. and my infant has horrid diarrhea and projectile vomiting from the strong antibiotics he was given. This woman needs her license revoked. PLEASE TAKE YOUR CHILDREN AND FAMILY ELSEWHERE.

This hospital does not care about there patients, because they don’t care they misdiagnose patients. There are a few people I know that were misdiagnosed, and died with cancer or had/has heart failure. I would not let one of my family members transfer to another hospital, so we had to leave by ourselves. She has heart failure. The hospital could careless about patients that are at the hospital, they only care about the ones who have money.

LINDA RIGDON

This place is a joke. Will never go there again. I ask for a pillow a blanket and something for pain never got it. I fell and I nought I had broke my hip. They were rude when the guy drove me out to the car he walked off left me standing there for my husband to hep me,these are a bunch of idiots.

Staff exceptional

I had the best experience here! Dr. Moses is an amazing doctor and all of the nurses were so incredibly nice to me. I got the suite on the L&D floor and it was so spacious and comfortable! The lactation specialist was very helpful and so were the nursery RNs with breastfeeding. I couldn't have asked for a better experience!

DAVID POPE

We have been here since 8:15 this morning and we got through with all pre op stuff around 10 and they said it would be about a hour before surgery and Dr came in about 1 and said won't be long now . I have one more to do so here it is 4:00 and I have not eaten all day nothing to drink I have to get my wife to check if I can take my meds. I am a diabetic and I am in pain. So how long does it really take to let ppl know what's been going on ALL DAY!! when your appointment is at 9 this morning and like I said 9 hours later and still no surgery!!! UGH what's wrong with ppl . My wife has called to find out what's going on?? Because nobody has come in to update us on anything! !

Had a knee replacement surgery and let's just say I put myself through hell in physical therapy this morning JUST TO GET AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! My nurse is an old lady named Sue WHO REFUSES TO LISTEN TO MY CONCERNS!!! When I needed pain medication she would delay it until she felt it was time. Perfect example: my last pain medication was at 8 30 am and as I type this in my hospital bed it's 1 08pm and I should have had it at 12 30. Sue says she'll bring them but where is Sue??? Busy doing other tasks because my brother had to go find her and ask her what's going on. Update it is 1 10pm and just found out the doctor did NOT PUT ANY MEDICATION IN MY CHARTS so I can discharge and go home. Now I have to sit for God knows how long waiting on my prescriptions AND I STILL HAVEN'T HAD MY PAIN MEDICATION!!!!!!!!! There is NO EXCUSE for this to happen in a hospital. I WOULDN'T WISH THIS PLACE ON MY WORST ENEMY!!! STAY AWAY!

Christina Phillips

Good place to deliver a child. The doctors and nurses in the suits were wonderful when I delivered my first child. The other part of the hospital was awful. Took my mother in law to the E.R. a while ago. The nurse did not know what Reynolds was at all. If your in the E.R. you need to know that stuff. The doctor did not know either. He could have cared less about being at work. The doctor just did a simple test and said she was ready to leave.

Tiffany Walker

I wouldn't give them any stars. They doctor came in there after hearing my symptoms with his mind already made up that it was reflux nevermind me telling them that I had taken reflux and gas medicine for a week before the pain got so bad I couldn't take and he would not even think it could be something else. He checked my blood and said my liver pancreas and gallbladder were fine. I asked him to check for other causes like h pylori for an ulcer. He wouldn't. Just gave me a prescription for nexium and carafate and sent me home. I asked how I was supposed to lie in bed in tears from the pain with 4 kids to care for and his answer was that he checked for emergency situations he didn't find one and that a hospital was not always a fix it place his exact words and that he lays in bed in pain all the time. I pleaded with him for a few more moments as he was sending me home without even giving me anything for the pain and he through his hands up left the room and hid the rest of the time we were there. We reported him to management but that probably won't help. His name was Jason schwanabeck or something. Don't go here. I have never been treated with such little respect in my life. He showed not compassion or sympathy what so ever. He should not be a doctor he is a disgrace to the profession.

Layla Hutton

My son broke his arm new years eve of 2015, I know I am way late writing the review but a friends equally bad experience prompted me to write mine, we got there at about 11 pm and were the only ones in the ER. They waited until about 1:30 to see him, I guess them ringing in the new year was more important than a 7 year old in pain with a broken arm. They didn't give him any kind of pain medicine, not even tylenol or ibuprofin. All they did was wrap it and according to the specialist I took him to they did a lousy job of that. The specialist was also amazed that they did not write him anything for inflammation and pain. What kind of hospital just sticks you in a room for two+ hours with a crying child in pain and just shuts the door and then sends you home without helping him. Horrible place.

Sold my overdue bill to a collections company whose lawyer had an armed sheriff deliver a debt collection notice to my place of employment. For profit healthcare is immoral, as are bully tactics to collect debt. Thankfully y’all can’t do balance billing anymore. Shame on you!
